In the town square, Alex informs Stephanie that he’s got some big news. Alex says he took her advice and Xander just hired him back at Titan. Stephanie feels that’s not so crazy. Alex says that’s not the crazy part as Joy reveals that Philip also hired her at Titan. Stephanie agrees that is big news as she flashes back to overhearing Sarah’s call about Joy’s pregnancy test.

Shawn goes to Small Bar and tracks down Savannah the stripper. She recognizes him from “Rafe’s” bachelor party and asks if he’s booked her for a lap dance. Shawn reveals his badge and says he’s a detective that has some questions for her.

Gabi is at home, complaining to JJ that going through Arnold’s things have gotten them no more leads on Rafe. JJ understands and is disappointed too, but they had to pursue the avenue and will now move on to the next one. JJ promises they will find Rafe and bring him home as he hugs Gabi.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ talks to the portrait of Stefano, saying he’s relieved that Stefano isn’t alive to see the mess Arnold made of things but he could use his advice on what to do now. Rita enters and doubts Stefano has much ideas. EJ says he was beginning to think she had issues disposing of Arnold. Rita asks why he says that and if there were issues on his end.

Jada confronts Rafe in the interrogation room. Rafe wants his lawyer and says she can’t question him without his attorney. Jada figures that police procedure is the one thing Rafe can remember. Jada talks about Rafe hiring her in the first place. Rafe then flashes back to hiring Jada and tells her that he remembers the day he hired her. Jada questions expecting her to believe that. Rafe informs her that he said welcome to Salem PD and calls it the best decision he ever made.

Alex asks Stephanie if everything is okay. Stephanie claims everything is fine. Joy gets that it’s a bit weird that she and Alex will be working together and admits she’s not psyched about it. Alex adds that they haven’t even had the chance to discuss it, but maybe they should hash it out since they are all here. Alex says nobody could’ve predicted they’d be working together and offers to tell Xander that he won’t be able to take the job but Stephanie says no, insisting that it’s his family business and that’s why she suggested he go back there. Joy guesses that Stephanie instead thinks she’s the one who should decline the job.

Savannah tells Shawn that she doesn’t want any trouble, insisting that she quit that job and the drugs were not hers. Shawn clarifies that he’s not here to talk about drugs but about the bachelor she slept with on the night before his wedding.

Gabi thanks JJ for everything he’s been doing to help find Rafe, but she can’t help but worry they could be too late. Gabi asks what if EJ decides to kill Rafe. JJ responds that EJ may be despicable but he’s smart enough to know that killing only causes more problem than it solves. JJ points out what EJ and Stefano went through to keep Arnold alive the first time and if they kept him alive, he’s sure Rafe is alive. Gabi worries that EJ has enough money and power to stash Rafe anywhere, so they could look for months and not find him. JJ says EJ is also the sort of guy who likes to keep his problems where he can see them. JJ bets the noise that Jada heard in the tunnels was Rafe being held hostage and that EJ just had him moved before they found him. Gabi worries that EJ could just move him again. Gabi declares that EJ is the only one with the answers they need, so they just need to find a way to get the truth out of him.

Rita asks EJ if there was an issue with the plan. EJ responds that there have been a few unforeseen challenges since Rafe may have been given a stronger dose of CRS-17 than they intended, since he forgot all about the kidnapping but the rest of his mind seems to have gone as well. EJ says he wouldn’t care but Gabi ran a DNA test on Arnold before they made the switch. EJ guesses Arnold gave himself away somehow, so Gabi started to suspect he wasn’t Rafe. EJ says what matters now is that Gabi and whoever else know, but they don’t know when Rafe was replaced. EJ adds that whoever found Rafe in his kitchen think that Arnold is pretending to have amnesia, so the authorities think that Rafe is still out there and being held hostage by him. Rita says she can see why EJ was turning to Stefano now. Rita asks how long this will last since when the drug was used on Gabi, it eventually wore off so maybe the same will happen to Rafe and he’ll remember who he is. EJ hopes to God that Rafe doesn’t remember everything, otherwise it could blow up in all of their faces.

Rafe tells Jada that he remembers now that he is Rafe Hernandez. Jada argues that Arnold is not fooling anyone. Rafe then goes over that Jada’s father’s name is Marcus and her sister is Talia. Jada guesses EJ fed him those names. Rafe calls Jada the best detective he ever hired and says the first time they kissed, she rocked his world and he knew they were meant to be together. Rafe tells Jada that he loves her and he missed her so much. Jada tells him to go to Hell.

Stephanie tells Joy that she’s not saying she shouldn’t take the job since where she chooses to work is none of her business. Joy agrees and says she can’t exactly be picky with her job opportunities. Stephanie says she gets it and just thought maybe Joy would follow Body and Soul to LA. Joy admits she was considering it, but they already recast her part. Joy says if she was in a better head space, she probably would have decided sooner but she was poisoned and then dumped. Alex says he’s very sorry. Joy says she has to play the hand she’s dealt and that means being an assistant at Titan. Joy adds that if there’s a problem with that, Alex can quit. Alex assures that no one has to quit and that Stephanie isn’t saying that. Alex says it’s a big company so he’s sure it will be fine. Joy declares that regardless, she’s staying. Alex tells Joy that he will see her at the office then. Joy then sits back down while Alex walks off with Stephanie, who looks back at Joy with concern.

Rafe tells Jada that he’s just trying to tell her that he remembers. Jada still believes he’s Arnold. Rafe asks if Arnold would remember all the crap they went through from the department when they first dated, the first time they made love, or every word from his proposal which he flashes back to. Rafe recalls the details of his proposal and says Jada made him the happiest man in the world. Rafe states that he knows Jada is the one for him and hopes she feels the same way about him. Rafe then asks what day it is and if they are already married. Jada informs him that they never got a chance to finish the wedding. Rafe questions why not.

Shawn informs Savannah that the guy she slept with was not Rafe Hernandez, but some kind of impostor. Savannah admits it doesn’t surprise her now that she thinks about it and guesses his real name was Arnold which surprises Shawn.

EJ can’t believe they managed to pull off the switch with Rafe and Arnold, only for everyone in Salem to assume that Rafe is still out there. EJ complains that he already had a visit from Jada and Gabi, insisting on search the tunnels, and they won’t stop without getting answers. EJ hopes that Rita was able to dispose of Arnold without problem. Rita confirms that Arnold won’t be talking but he’s not exactly in Argentina as they planned because he wouldn’t get on the jet and kept making threats and demands. Rita reveals that she made the executive decision that there needed to be a more permanent solution. EJ questions what exactly Rita did to him.

JJ tells Gabi that he knows her look that she’s not going to sit back and let the police handle it. JJ admits he can’t blame her but he also cares about her, so he doesn’t want to see her get hurt. Gabi says she cares about her brother too. JJ suggests there could still be some leads at Arnold’s room in the Salem Inn. Gabi tells JJ to go ahead and go there next. JJ pleads with Gabi not to do anything she will regret. Gabi promises not to. JJ kisses her on the cheek and then exits. Gabi declares that she certainly won’t regret this as she takes Rafe’s gun from the house and exits.

Alex goes home with Stephanie, who asks if they should have a drink and toast to his new job. Alex is not sure they should be toasting to something she’s not really happy about. Stephanie says she is happy but Alex says he saw how she reacted. Stephanie admits she was a little blindsided but that doesn’t mean she’s not happy for him. Alex gets that she doesn’t love that he’s working with Joy and he’s not either, but after everything with the break up, he feels he owes Joy the courtesy of seeing this through. Stephanie agrees and assures Alex that she trusts him and she knows they will keeping it professional, so that’s not what she’s concerned about. Alex asks what she is concerned about.

JJ finds Joy in the town square as she almost passes out and checks on her. JJ explains that he’s a cop and checks her pulse. JJ feels she’s going to need some real help but Joy responds that she already knows what’s wrong and reveals she might be pregnant.

Rafe questions why he can’t remember what happened in his own wedding. Jada asks what he does remember. Rafe remembers talking about getting married on his birthday, then going to see EJ about a PI case for Black Patch and EJ threw him out, but he knew EJ was hiding something so he snuck back in. Rafe flashes back to that day and remembers coming face to face with Arnold Feniger.

Shawn questions how Savannah knew about Arnold. Savannah reveals that Arnold told her to call him that and that it was his real name, but guesses that’s not true. Shawn confirms he is Arnold Feniger and he was masquerading as Rafe. Savannah questions what happened to the real Rafe Hernandez then. Shawn says that’s what they are trying to figure out and asks if Arnold told Savannah anything else that could help them find Rafe.

EJ asks Rita if she killed Arnold. Gabi arrives to confront EJ, but sees Rita and questions what she’s doing there. Rita claims she was just dropping off paper work for Kristen and asks EJ to tell her that she stopped by. Rita says she has to get back to the office now and hurries out. EJ then asks Gabi what she wants as he already told her that he has no idea about a Rafe impostor or where Rafe is. Gabi then pulls the gun on EJ and says maybe this will jog his memory.

Stephanie guesses she’s just a little concerned about Joy and Alex being in such close proximity every day as she doesn’t want Joy to get too attached to him again. Alex assures that they just want to move on and promises there’s nothing tying them together anymore.

JJ congratulates Joy but Joy says if she’s pregnant, she’s screwed because the father is already in a relationship with somebody else. JJ asks if there’s anything he could do to help. Joy says aside from turn back time, no. Joy assures she’ll be fine and is probably just a little dehydrated. JJ offers to get her some water but Joy insists that she’s fine and thanks him for his concern. Joy says she appreciates it but she’s got to get going and walks away.

Savannah tells Shawn that she and Arnold didn’t do a lot of talking. Shawn argues that he must have told her something but Savannah says she has nothing. Shawn hopes she’s telling him the truth, otherwise she’d be aiding a felon. Savannah says Arnold wasn’t exactly deep, but he was good in bed though more of a senseless pig than her usual clients. Shawn asks her to call him if she thinks of anything else because Rafe’s life could depend on it. Shawn leaves his card and exits.

EJ tells Gabi not to do anything rash and insists he hasn’t done anything with Rafe. EJ asks Gabi to put the gun down but Gabi accuses him of lying. Gabi tells EJ that it’s Rafe’s gun and swears she will blow his head off if he doesn’t tell her where Rafe is.

Jada questions Rafe saying he saw Arnold and asks then what. Rafe says he realized that Arnold obviously didn’t die in jail like they all thought, so he went to call for backup but he went black after that. Jada asks if he remembers seeing EJ when he woke up. Rafe says that’s the last memory he has until she and Shawn woke him up in his kitchen. Rafe questions what happened in between. Jada says she doesn’t know, but she knows how she’s going to find out.

Savannah remains at Small Bar as Joy arrives and sits at a table. Savannah goes to leave but recognizes Joy as Reagan from Body and Soul. Savannah says she loves the show and never misses an episode. Joy is surprised she recognizes her since she was barely on. Savannah calls Reagan her favorite character and talks about how she and Alex’s character Arrow made a much better couple and how they were made for each other.

Stephanie comments on Jada coming home, so Alex suggests going to his place for some alone time. Stephanie informs him that Jada is actually moving back to the Hernandez house since she was only staying with her because “Rafe” broke up with her, but it turns out that wasn’t Rafe so she has no reason to move back in until the real Rafe is found and everything goes back to normal. Alex asks if the police have any leads on Rafe’s location. Stephanie says not yet but that Jada is a great cop so she won’t stop until she finds him.

Jada finishes a call as Shawn arrives at the police station and informs her that Savannah confirmed their guy is Arnold. Jada responds that she doesn’t think it is. Shawn asks about the DNA test that proves it is. Jada explains that he just shared all these memories with her that only Rafe would have. Jada doesn’t know if EJ switched Rafe with Arnold after Gabi took his DNA. Shawn says that would be quite the coincidence. Jada then gets a text and reveals that forensics just confirmed it’s really Rafe.

JJ goes back to the Hernandez house and knocks on the door but Gabi’s not home. JJ heads inside, saying he didn’t find anything at the Salem Inn but notices that Rafe’s gun is gone and begins to worry.

EJ tells Gabi that they both know she isn’t going to shoot him. Gabi asks if he’d like to test that theory. EJ asks if she’d like to go back to prison for murder. Gabi argues that she was only there in the first place because he prosecuted her for a crime she didn’t commit. EJ points out that the real killer has been found and she was cleared, so he questions if she wants to give up her freedom. Gabi admits she thought for a second about trying to seduce the truth out of him, but never again because he disgusts her. EJ assures the feeling is mutual but he hardly thinks disgust will stand up against murder in court. Gabi declares that if she has to shoot him, she will, and then she will just wipe her prints off the gun and be on her merry way. EJ reminds her that Rita saw her come in. EJ tells Gabi that killing him is not going to end well for her. Gabi warns that if he doesn’t cough up Rafe’s location, it won’t end well for him either.

Savannah offers to buy Joy a drink. Joy says she’ll just take a club soda as she’s not really drinking these days. Savannah then guesses that Joy is pregnant and if that’s why her character got pregnant in the show. Joy doesn’t want to talk about it. Savannah assures that her lips are sealed.

Alex tells Stephanie that if Jada is not coming home, they don’t need to find another place for alone time. Stephanie says she’d love to but he starts his new job tomorrow and she has an early start as well, so maybe it’s best if he just goes back to his place. Alex guesses they should both get their sleep and asks if she’s sure this isn’t about Joy, offering to call Xander and get another job. Stephanie swears it’s not about the job as they hug.

Gabi threatens to pull the trigger but JJ interrupts, telling Gabi not to do this because EJ won’t tell her where Rafe is, but he can. JJ reveals that he just got a call from Shawn and that the guy at the police station is Rafe, not Arnold.

Jada returns to the interrogation room and declares that it’s really Rafe, revealing she ran his fingerprints. Jada tells Rafe that she has missed him so much and she still loves him with all her heart. Jada declares that she will love him forever as she kisses Rafe.

Marlena remains at her desk, looking at a photo of John as she flashes back to a past reunion they had. Marlena wonders where John is and what she’s going to tell the children.

Ava meets Belle at the Brady Pub. Belle says she wants to help Ava prepare her statement about her kidnapping to make sure there’s no way that Kristen and EJ get out of this. Ava comments that they always find a way. Belle assures that they won’t with her in her corner and that she plans to prosecute EJ and Kristen to the fullest extent of the law, along with Rachel Blake. Belle hands Ava a folder of notes from her previous interview and says to let her know if anything is missing. Ava responds that it would bring her endless joy to see Kristen and EJ join Rachel Blake behind bars, but she’s afraid she won’t be able to help her.

Stephanie sits at the hospital in shock. Kayla comes over and asks her for help with her flash drive. Stephanie asks her to explain the problem gain. Kayla asks if she’s okay as she seems a million miles away. Stephanie tries to claim that she is okay but Kayla asks what’s going on. Stephanie then reveals that Joy Wesley might be pregnant.

In the town square, Philip questions Joy wanting a job at Titan as he’s surprised she would want to work for him after the way things ended with he and Chloe. Joy says she had to give him a hard time as Chloe’s sister but promises they will have a perfectly friendly working relationship. Philip questions her working for her sister’s ex. Joy says she needs to make a living. Philip suggests talking to Chloe first. Joy argues that it’s not like she’s asking him on a date and asks what he says.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Alex asks Xander about coming back to Titan unless he has a problem with that.

Philip asks if Joy has any corporate experience. Joy says she was a temp in New York but admits she doesn’t have a ton of experience. Joy says she’s a really quick learner and talks about how Kate gave her a chance on Body and Soul. Philip guesses he can’t ask for a better reference than his mom. Joy says she’d be more than happy to start off as an assistant to learn the job. Philip notes that he’d have to talk to Xander first since they are co-CEOs. Philip says he’ll get back to her next week but Joy hoped he could talk to Xander today because she’d rather have the job sooner than later as time is of the essence.

Kayla questions Stephanie saying Joy might be pregnant. Stephanie explains that she doesn’t know for sure but she overheard Sarah on the phone, saying to put a rush on a pregnancy test for Joy. Kayla feels Sarah is usually more careful than that. Stephanie says she’s just kind of shocked because if Joy is pregnant, the baby must be Alex’s.

Xander questions why he would have a problem with Alex working at Titan. Alex brings up that not long ago, he was running the place and had the job that was rightfully Xander’s, so he can see how it might make him uncomfortable if he came back to the family business. Alex says if Xander feels it’s a bad idea, he’ll just be on his way.

Belle questions Ava not pressing charges against EJ and Kristen. Ava can’t believe she’s saying this, but she is not. Belle doesn’t understand since they are just as guilty as Rachel Blake and questions her not wanting to see them pay. Ava insists that she does, so Belle questions why she doesn’t want to testify against them. Ava responds that it’s because of Brady.

Brady goes to see Marlena in her office, hoping to get her advice on the Ava situation. Brady stops to ask if Marlena is okay. Marlena admits that she’s not, so Brady asks what’s going on. Marlena responds that she’s afraid she has some bad news as she then reveals that his dad is missing which Brady questions. Marlena explains that she just spoke to Shane as he promised to try to set up a phone call with John, but he couldn’t locate him. Brady questions if there’s any leads and what else Shane said. Marlena says that Shane is using all his resources to try and track John down, but he doesn’t know any more than they do. Marlena declares that means they don’t know if John is alive. Brady then hugs Marlena.

Belle asks Ava why Brady would be the reason she’s not pressing charges against EJ and Kristen. Ava informs her that Brady asked her not to press charges which Belle argues doesn’t make sense. Ava explains that Kristen told Brady that their daughter’s involvement would come to light. Belle argues that she had no intention of prosecuting a nine year old for something her Grandmother told her to do. Ava explains that Brady is more worried about child protective services threatening to take Rachel away after one more incident. Belle guesses she just assumed Brady would regain custody if Kristen went to prison, but CPS being involved does complicate things. Ava comments that Brady had nothing to do with this but he could lose his daughter.

Xander tells Alex that he had nothing to do with what happened and it was all Theresa and Konstantin, so he holds nothing against him. Alex is glad there is no bad blood between them. Xander tells Alex that he’s sure Titan would be better if he wants to rejoin the family business. Alex thanks him and hopes that Philip feels the same way.

Philip tells Joy that he can talk to Xander today if it’s that urgent. Joy thanks him and explains that she just got her final paycheck from Body and Soul, so she’s eager to start new work. Philip says he’s sorry about the show and questions her not moving to Los Angeles with it. Joy says she considered it, but was told they recast her character. Philip asks about moving back to New York with her family but Joy doesn’t think her mother wants to hear about what a mess she’s made of her life in Salem.

Kayla tells Stephanie not to jump to conclusions and asks if she’s sure Joy hasn’t seen anyone else. Stephanie admits she’s not for sure and talks about Alex running in to Joy, who seemed like she wasn’t holding a grudge. Stephanie hoped they could put this all behind them, but now it seems to be looming ahead. Kayla reminds her not to get ahead of themselves since they don’t even know if Joy is pregnant. Stephanie guesses Kayla can’t go check the lab, but she doesn’t know if she will get any peace of mind until she knows for sure. Stephanie doesn’t know what to say to Alex. Kayla encourages not saying anything.

Alex tells Xander that he and Philip both liked Stephanie, so things were tense between them now that he’s with her and he knows Philip isn’t the most gracious loser so this might be a bad idea. Xander acknowledges Philip’s competitive spirit but says he has a surprising ability to bury the hatchet where the company is concerned. Alex comments on never hearing Xander speak so highly of him and questions them getting along now. Xander confirms they are and that they’ve been able to put everything behind them. Xander tells Alex that he will talk to Philip about bringing him on board.

Philip asks Joy about her life being a mess and what’s going on. Joy informs him that Alex just dumped her to be with Stephanie and then she nearly destroyed Johnny and Chanel’s marriage. Philip thinks that was more Johnny’s fault than her. Joy says her mother thinks she has a talent for finding drama. Philip jokes that his mom said something like that to him too. Joy says she felt like she always had to explain her life choices to her mother which is a big reason she’d really like to stay in Salem if she could just find a new job. Philip repeats that he has to check with Xander, but he doesn’t think he will have a problem with her working at the company, so he welcomes Joy to Titan.

Alex appreciates Xander going to bat for him with Philip, but he worries about causing more trouble than it’s worth. Xander is sure they can work things out and says they have big plans for Titan, so they could use another Kiriakis to help. Xander says as soon as Alex is on board, he’ll be the first to know about the plans and if all goes according to plan, it will be a very big deal.

Marlena is sorry to worry Brady but Brady says he’s grateful they have each other. Brady asks what to do to find John. Marlena says Shane has assured her that they are trying to retrace John’s steps and reach out to his latest contacts. Brady asks if Paul knows. Marlena mentions needing to tell Paul and Belle.

Belle gets that Brady is in an impossible position, but a serious crime was committed so she has a moral obligation to prosecute the case even if it affects Rachel. Belle understands Brady being worried about CPS but says maybe their intervention is worth it. Ava continues to worry about Rachel being taken away from Brady. Ava says she’s a mother so she knows what it’s like to have her child taken away and she won’t be the reason that happens to Brady. Belle complains that Ava is her only witness, so without her testimony, she has no case and three criminals go free. Ava says it makes her sick even thinking about it. Ava declares that Brady should not be the one to suffer for their crimes since it’s not his fault, but Kristen’s. Belle calls that unfortunately the story of Brady’s life. Ava blames Kristen for teaching Rachel that taking a hostage is appropriate. Ava can’t believe she actually thought Kristen would help her when she saw her tied up. Ava swears that if she ever sees Kristen again, she’s going to tear her limb from limb. Kristen then enters the Pub and tells her now is her chance. Kristen guesses Ava talked to Brady and won’t be making that statement, but says she’s glad she understands the priorities of the situation. Ava calls her a bitch. Kristen knew she’d do the right thing and says she’s protecting her daughter from some people’s selfish interests. Kristen remarks that she knows Belle’s not happy this will bring down her conviction rate. Belle argues that some people actually care about following the law. Kristen brings up Belle convincing the judge to hold her mother without bail but now she has no witnesses, so she suggests Belle tell the judge that she wants Rachel Blake released right now.

Brady offers to talk to Belle but Marlena feels she should, so Brady says he will talk to Paul so that Marlena isn’t the only bearer of this news. Marlena is glad Brady is here with her. Brady encourages staying positive that they will find John. Brady decides he should go get Rachel, so Marlena tells him to go ahead. Brady hugs her and then exits.

Stephanie asks Kayla why she wouldn’t tell Alex when they are talking about his baby. Kayla points out that they don’t know that there is a baby and they wouldn’t know if she didn’t overhear Sarah. Stephanie says she can’t unhear it and worries about keeping a big secret from Alex. Kayla encourages that this is Joy’s secret to tell and calls it highly unethical. Kayla adds that the hospital could be liable for a violation, so if Stephanie wants to protect the hospital and Joy’s privacy, she has to keep this to herself.

Philip goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and informs Xander that Joy asked him for a job, but he said he had to talk to him first. Xander tells him to go ahead and hire her, stating that he doesn’t need to do a background check on Chloe’s little sister. Philip decides to text Joy the good news.

Joy gets Philip’s text that she’s officially hired. She then runs in to Alex in the town square. Alex tells her that he’s glad they talked earlier and says she was really cool about he and Stephanie. Alex adds that he really likes her so he doesn’t want there to be anything weird between them. Joy informs Alex that there are a couple things he should know. Joy reveals she will be staying in Salem, so they will probably keep running in to each other. Alex says it shouldn’t be too hard now that they cleared the air. Alex then asks what the second thing is.

Xander informs Philip that Alex just told him he wants to come back to Titan. Philip admits that might be an issue. Xander brings up how he and Philip were at each other’s throats before becoming partners, so he’s sure that Philip and Alex could get through their issues and they could use another Kiriakis on board. Xander encourages Philip to put personal issues aside and try to work together as cousins. Philip questions having personal issues. Xander explains that Alex told him about Stephanie and guesses that’s what this is about.

Stephanie admits that Kayla is right and she wasn’t thinking, but she would never do anything to jeopardize the hospital so she won’t say anything to Alex. Kayla thanks her. Stephanie apologizes for getting so fixated on what this meant for Alex that she wasn’t thinking about Joy but this is a really personal thing for her and she respects that. Kayla understands it’s a difficult position for her to be in. Stephanie feels strange having this information that could potentially affect the rest of Alex’s life and keeping it from him. Kayla encourages that maybe she won’t have to since it’s possible Joy will tell him herself.

Joy informs Alex that she’s planning on staying in Salem because she got a job at Titan after talking to Philip.

Philip admits to Xander that he and Alex were locking horns for a minute, but at the end of the day, he and Stephanie didn’t work out and he only has himself to blame for that, so his issue isn’t that but about Alex and Joy. Philip doesn’t know how Joy will feel about working with Alex since they recently split up and he got the feeling she wasn’t totally okay with that.

Joy asks Alex if her working at Titan is a problem. Alex says no, but reveals that he also just spoke to Xander about coming back to Titan.

Kristen asks Belle if she’s going to get on it because she doesn’t want her mother spending one more night in jail. Belle tells Kristen that the court’s are closed, so her mom will have to wait until tomorrow to get her undeserved freedom. Kristen argues that Belle can get the ball rolling so she doesn’t have to sue the city for wrongful imprisonment. Belle warns Kristen that this isn’t over and exits the Pub. Kristen asks if Ava has something to say but Ava says she has nothing. Kristen declares that they are done here then but Ava says not quite and slaps Kristen.

Xander admits he wasn’t aware of the history between Alex and Joy, but remarks that if Joy is uncomfortable with Alex, she can quit. Xander points out that Joy doesn’t have the history with Titan and that Alex is a former CEO, so he’s sure he’d have some insights to help them take down DiMera. Philip agrees that they need Alex on board, so Xander decides to text him the good news.

Alex gets Xander’s text that he’s hired back at Titan. Joy congratulates him. Alex guesses they will be working there together. Joy calls that so crazy as Stephanie approaches and asks what’s crazy. Alex informs her that he’s got some big news. Alex says he took her advice and Xander just hired him back at Titan. Stephanie feels that’s not so crazy. Alex says that’s not the crazy part as Joy reveals that Philip also hired her at Titan. Stephanie agrees that is big news.

Belle goes to see Marlena and says she got her message, so she asks what’s going on, noting that it sounds serious. Marlena confirms that it is and it’s about her dad.

At the DiMera Mansion, Brady talks to Paul on the phone, assuring that the ISA will use every resource to try to find John. Brady says he’ll keep in touch and he loves him as he hangs up. Kristen comes home and asks Brady about Rachel’s therapy appointment. Brady says she was in a good mood after, so he thinks it went well. Kristen mentions running in to Ava and thanks Brady for getting her not to press charges. Brady responds that he did it for their daughter as Kristen holds ice to her face. Brady asks what happened. Kristen responds that Ava assaulted her, so she’s lucky she isn’t pressing charges against her. Kristen then exits the room. Brady calls Ava and says he just spoke to Kristen, who told him that she agreed to drop the charges against her. Ava remarks that she didn’t really have a choice. Brady doesn’t know how to thank her. Ava suggests tying Kristen up in a remote location and leaving her for dead. Brady says he’s really sorry about all of this. Ava responds that she’s sorry too and hangs up.

Marlena is in her office, looking at a photo of John on her desk as she wishes he would come home soon because she misses him. Cat enters and informs Marlena that her next appointment just called to cancel so she has the next hour free. Cat offers to pick up lunch but Marlena decides she will just go to the cafeteria. Cat says to let her know if she changes her mind. Marlena stops her and says she never told her how things went with her and Chad.

At the Spectator, Chad is finishing a call about Basic Black as Leo arrives. Leo thanks Chad for hiring him back as a reporter and says his faith in him means the world. Chad feels he’s buttering him up. Leo then reveals he needs Chad’s approval on a story he’s working on that will make issues fly off the news stands. Chad can’t wait to hear the pitch but Leo warns that it might hit a little close to home.

Alex goes to the Brady Pub and comes across Joy. Alex notes that it’s been awhile. Joy says he hasn’t seen her since he dumped her to be with Stephanie.

Stephanie goes to the hospital and tells Sarah that she’s there to help raise awareness about the hospital’s financial situation. Sarah can’t believe the hospital shutting down is possible. Sarah argues that it’s so much more than a business. Sarah jokes that she’s one of the lucky ones since Xander said he would take care of her if the hospital goes under. Stephanie understands Xander doesn’t want her to worry about money. Sarah guesses that’s a benefit of being married to a co-CEO. Stephanie asks how Xander has been getting along with Philip since she decided not to tell him that Victor’s letter was a forgery.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Philip tells Xander news about a major acquisition and says they are one step closer to taking over DiMera. Xander is not enthused and says he’s afraid it might not matter unless they get answers as to why Victor’s letter named Philip as his heir.

Sarah thought Stephanie was fine with keeping the secret about the forgery and asks if she changed her mind. Stephanie says she and Philip aren’t together anymore so his lying and scheming is not her problem. Sarah asks what it’s about then. Stephanie guesses she’s still pissed that Philip made she and Belle complicit in his fraud. Stephanie assures she’s mad at him, not Sarah. Sarah asks if that means she still won’t say anything. Stephanie states that Philip has done enough damage, so saying anything would just blow up more including Sarah’s marriage.

Philip questions why Xander is reading Victor’s letter again. Xander says he just wants clarity, wondering why he wouldn’t change his will. Philip thought they were in a better place. Xander assures that he’s made peace that it’s what Victor wanted, but if they successfully take over DiMera, there will be hurdles including why they decided to share power. Philip calls that a long way away. Xander has a feeling their plans are about to gain major traction because he has a special guest visiting them today, who could be instrumental in taking everything DiMera.

Leo reveals his draft to Chad, called “Children of the Phoenix: The Fall of House DiMera.” Chad complains that it’s a hit piece about his family. Chad calls it not relevant to his paper. Leo disagrees and says his source at the police department told him that EJ and Kristen are both deep in Ava’s kidnapping. Chad says they’ll have a court reporter cover it then. Leo continues to insist until Chad agrees to publish it on the front page.

Cat tells Marlena that it was cool that she and Chad were able to get on the same page with everything. Cat adds that Chad said they could do another brainstorming session this afternoon and put the Spectator behind it. Marlena calls it heartwarming for everyone to come together to help the hospital but thinks they do have to acknowledge their limits. Marlena doesn’t want to make Cat uncomfortable by having her and Chad work so close together, especially after telling him how she feels. Cat thanks her but claims she’s realized that she’s over Chad so it’s all good. Marlena asks if Cat was lying to Chad or to herself.

Leo questions Chad agreeing to print his story. Chad reminds Leo that he’s a journalist now so he needs to adhere to the standards of the Spectator. Chad doesn’t want Leo to forget that EJ is a lawyer and is not afraid of litigation. Chad wants Leo to run everything by legal and demands that he leave Rachel out of it. Leo agrees and thanks Chad for trusting his instincts. Chad tells him not to make him regret it.

Philip asks Xander who his special guest is. Xander says he was thinking more about their conversation about which DiMera board members they could sway to join their side. Philip thought they determined the DiMeras could never be flipped, which leaves Wei Shin, who then appears in the room.

Sarah tells Stephanie that she hates keeping it from Xander but it is for the greater good. Stephanie asks if she really believes that. Sarah assures that she does. Sarah states that Xander and Philip both got the ruthless trait from Victor, but if they are forced to play nice together, it will curb their reckless impulses and now they are actually acting like brothers. Sarah informs her that Xander even invited Philip to move back in to the mansion, so everything is working out how she hoped. Stephanie hopes nothing happens to change that for their sake. Stephanie adds that things are going really well with Alex and she doubts he would be happy to know she kept quiet about all of this. Sarah and Stephanie shake hands in agreement on this being for the greater good.

Joy tells Alex to forget about it but he says she’s absolutely right that he acted like a total jackass and he’s sorry. Alex admits he handled the situation in the worst way possible and she didn’t deserve that. Joy says they just had a fling, so she’ll get over it. Alex feels she’s giving him more grace than he deserves and thanks her. Alex points out that she’s barely touched her food. Joy says she hasn’t had much of an appetite lately and blames being stressed to figure out her next move now that Body and Soul is not an option. Joy informs Alex that their roles have been recast. Alex says it’s going to be weird watching someone else play Arrow. Joy remarks that the show must go on. Alex encourages that there will be other roles. Joy doubts it and isn’t sure acting is her next step. Joy tells Alex that he should go, so he doesn’t keep Stephanie waiting too long. Alex tells her to take care of herself as he exits the Pub. Joy guesses she shouldn’t be wasting food now that she’s unemployed. Joy tries to take a bite, but gets sick and runs to the restroom.

Wei Shin has tea with Xander and Philip. Xander notes having his favorite tea made. Wei acknowledges the Titan jet and company car being arranged for him. He says he could’ve arranged his own travel, so they must want something. He questions why they went through all this trouble for him. Xander responds that they have a proposition for him.

Alex brings food to Stephanie’s apartment and they kiss. Alex tells Stephanie that he ran in to Joy at the Pub. Stephanie jokes that the chowder didn’t get dumped on his head. Alex admits it was a little awkward at first, but he apologized and she got things off her chest, so they got to a good place. Stephanie still feels bad about how everything went down. Alex says in the end, he and Joy weren’t that serious, but she just wants to put it behind her, so they should too. Stephanie says that sounds like a plan as they kiss.

Joy goes to the hospital and tells Sarah that she’s not feeling too great. Joy tells her that her appetite has been off for a few days and asks if it has to do with being poisoned. Sarah doubts it because of how long ago that was, but decides to get her in an exam room because there’s a stomach bug going around. Joy then asks if it could be morning sickness, questioning if she could be pregnant.

Cat tells Marlena that she doesn’t know why she thought she could pull one over on her. Cat admits that she does still have feelings for Chad but it doesn’t matter because nothing can ever come of it and it’s better if Chad doesn’t know, so nothing gets in the way of them planning the fundraiser. Marlena gets a call from Shane and answers. Marlena asks Shane if he has any information on where John is. Marlena doesn’t understand and questions what is happening here. Marlena tells Shane to let her know when he hears anything as she hangs up. Cat asks Marlena if everything is okay. Marlena responds that everything is not okay because her husband is missing.

Leo tells Chad that he just sent his draft to legal and he has no doubt they will feel it’s set to print. Leo adds that he has other stories that he’d like to run past Chad. Chad says it will have to wait because Cat Green is coming and they have a meeting he has to prep for. Leo questions why Chad would be taking a meeting with the woman who pretended to be his dead wife.

Cat questions Marlena saying that John is missing. Marlena responds that he’s missing in action and says he was undercover, but he’s gone radio silent for a long time. Marlena says she had special permission to talk to him but that didn’t happen as it seems even his handler has lost contact with him, which means either John has gone rogue or something terrible has happened.

Sarah tells Joy that pregnancy could be a possibility. Joy says she’s late but that’s not uncommon. Sarah asks when she was last sexually active. Joy admits it was a month ago with Alex, so she’s sure he and his new girlfriend would be thrilled if she’s knocked up. Sarah says not to get ahead and they will find out if she is pregnant.

Alex tells Stephanie that he got more upsetting news as he reveals Body and Soul recast his role. Stephanie says she’s sorry and asks if he regrets not following the show to LA. Alex assures that he doesn’t and he thinks acting was just a weird detour for him. Alex jokes that he has a hard enough time staying away from her when he lives across the hall, so he couldn’t manage across the country. Stephanie points out that he still seems bummed about it. Alex thinks he’s just finally realizing that now that he doesn’t have the show to fall back on, it’s driving home how directionless he is right now. Alex declares that he just needs to find his purpose again or at least a job. Stephanie says she knows of one place he could look. Alex asks if she’s hiring an assistant. Stephanie then asks what he thinks about going back to Titan.

Xander asks Wei what if he told him that Titan is interested in acquiring DiMera Enterprises. Wei responds that he would tell them that they are wasting their time because DiMera is not for sale. Philip argues that with enough shareholders on their side, they could gain majority control. Wei questions a hostile takeover and says the family would not side with them. Wei assures they would also not get his vote and tells them to have a good day. Philip stops him and asks what if they give him a position of power in the new regime. Philip points out that DiMera is in crisis thanks to Kristen. Wei compares her to Stefano being good for the bottom of the line. Xander questions it being the same with Kristen and EJ, bringing up the news about them being involved in a kidnapping. Wei asks if they flew him all this way for idle gossip. Xander asks what is going to happen to the share price if Kristen is convicted and EJ is also implicated. Wei asks what makes them believe Titan would be any less chaotic when it’s not even clear which one of them Victor wanted to be in charge. Xander agrees that it doesn’t make sense, but he and Philip put aside their differences for the good of the company and it’s shareholders. Xander questions if Stefano’s heirs would be capable of doing the same. Xander asks Mr. Shin if he’s in or out.

Cat comments to Marlena that it’s not knowing that is the worst part. Cat relates to not knowing if her mom was alive or dead and calls it agony, but points out that she did find her mom so if a miracle could happen for them, she asks why it can’t happen for Marlena and John. Marlena admits that she and John have faced and defeated greater odds than this, but guesses there’s a time when people’s luck just runs out. Marlena doesn’t know what she will do if anything happens to him. Marlena apologizes while Cat says Marlena has been there for her in her worst moments, so she will return the favor.

Chad tells Leo that it’s none of his business but he and Cat are working together on a fundraiser to save the hospital. Leo questions this and says he just doesn’t want Cat to hurt him again as he asks if he’s sure they can trust her. Chad appreciates his concern and says they are doing their best to get past everything. Chad reminds Leo that Cat was being manipulated by Clyde. Leo argues that a decent person wouldn’t stay in Salem and plan party planner with the guy she tricked in to marriage. Chad points out that the marriage was annulled while Leo points out that’s because she was lying about her identity. Chad insists that Cat does not have feelings for him. Leo questions why he doesn’t seem thrilled about that. Chad claims he’s relieved and says that he and Cat could never work. Chad tells Leo to stop, repeating that Cat doesn’t have feelings for him and this is strictly professional. Leo says if he says so, then exits the office.

Wei Shin admits Xander and Philip put forth a tantalizing offer, but he’s been on the board since Stefano ran the company and he’s not comfortable going behind his daughter’s back like this. Xander says business is rarely comfortable. Philip brings up EJ sitting on evidence that could’ve brought Li Shin’s killer to justice for months. Xander brings up how Kristen protected Gabi as well. Wei acknowledges Gabi broke Li’s heart in pieces and wonders if Li would still be alive if not for her. Xander argues that the DiMera have been taking advantage of him. Philip assures that he would be in charge of DiMera funding. Mr. Shin then agrees to the deal and they shake hands. He adds that he’ll need to pitch this to his associates and should get back to do it in person. Xander says their driver will take him back to the Titan jet. Wei admits he’s impressed as he exits the mansion. Xander and Philip high five and compliment each other. Xander says they couldn’t have made that happen without him, so maybe they make a good team after all. Philip feels he should get back to the office while Xander thinks they should celebrate. Philip says they have a whole new set of numbers to crunch, so Xander tells him not to work too hard. Philip exits while Xander turns to the portrait of Victor and comments that this is what he wanted all along. Xander declares that the DiMeras won’t know what hit them.

Alex questions Stephanie suggesting he go back to work at Titan. Stephanie points out that he liked working there last year and he was happy. Stephanie then gets a text from Kayla and says they’ll talk more about this later. Stephanie encourages Alex that maybe his passion has always been with the family business. Alex thanks her and they kiss as Stephanie then exits.

Joy asks Sarah what happens now. Sarah says her nurses will bring back her sample. Joy prays for it to come back negative because the last thing she needs now is a baby. Sarah reminds her that she has options and she’s in charge of what happens to her body. Joy thanks her but admits she’s scared. Sarah tells her that she’s there for her no matter what the test says as they hug.

Cat goes to the Spectator to meet with Chad. Cat says she got caught up with Marlena and that’s why she’s late. Chad asks if everything is okay. Cat informs Chad that Marlena just got really bad news about her husband.

Marlena remains at her desk, looking at a photo of John as she flashes back to a past reunion they had. Marlena comments that she can’t count the number of times that their love has brought them back together, so she hopes they get to have it again.

Xander finishes a call, telling them to report back as soon as Mr. Shin is back in Hong Kong. Alex arrives and tells Xander that he came to see him because he wants to come back to Titan.

Philip comes across Joy in the town square and says he knows he’s not her favorite person because of how things ended with Chloe, but he’s known her since she was a kid, so he’s there if she needs anything. Joy responds that there is one thing he could do for her and asks if he’s hiring at Titan.

Sarah makes a call to put a rush on a blood test for Joy’s pregnancy test right as Stephanie arrives at the hospital and overhears her.

Holly goes to the Horton house and tells Doug III that they need to talk about what happened at the cabin when he told her that he had feelings for her. Doug III hoped they could forget all about that but Holly says she couldn’t and they didn’t get to unpack everything since Tate showed up. Doug III says he has nothing more to say but Holly says she does.

Johnny and Chanel meet with Sophia and Tate in the town square. Sophia says they are really excited they are interested in adopting their baby. Tate adds that Amy wants to meet them if they are free for lunch. Johnny says they live in a house with servants and cooks so it would be no problem. Chanel adds that they are very eager to meet her. Sophia then tells them that there are one or two things they should know beforehand. Tate reminds them how Amy was searching for a couple with good Christian values and says that Sophia might have oversold them a little bit. Chanel asks how much. Tate responds that they are going to need all the prayers they can get.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ is on the phone with Kristen. EJ says he wishes he could’ve been there for Kristen’s mother’s arraignment but it didn’t seem wise. EJ mentions hoping that Ava keeps quiet about their involvement for Brady and Rachel’s sake. EJ tells Kristen not to worry about Rafe because Dr. Rolf’s serum worked a little too well. EJ wishes Kristen luck and hangs up. EJ looks in the mirror and says he couldn’t pull this off better himself as the police think Arnold is pulling off some kind of con and not even Rafe knows that he’s himself. Paulina then shows up at the door.

At the hospital, Gabi brings Jada the lab report and thought she’d want to be there when she opens it. Gabi then opens the test results, confirming it’s not a match. Gabi declares that whoever she plucked the hair from is not related to her, which means the guy who left Jada at the altar and helped EJ frame her is not Rafe. Jada goes over how the man she almost married was an impostor. Gabi can’t believe this is real as it all sounds insane. Jada brings up Stephanie being right that this happened before. Jada assures that they at least hadn’t shared a bed in months. Gabi guesses the switch must have happened around New Year’s. Jada worries that she will break if she tries to process everything and she can’t break until they find Rafe. Jada knows it makes sense to be Arnold but the DNA test doesn’t prove that it is. Gabi says it’s the only thing that makes sense, especially since he was working for EJ.

Paulina tells EJ that she’s given a lot of thought to his pitch to hire him as district attorney and admits he made a persuasive argument since Jada championed Belle. EJ points out that Belle could be corrupted as well. Paulina believes Belle to be a person of integrity but admits the optics aren’t good. EJ asks if this means Paulina is giving him his job back. Paulina feels that doesn’t make any sense, questioning why she would ever appoint a district attorney who is going straight to prison.

Chanel questions Sophia saying she leads a women’s bible study group. Sophia compares it to exaggerating on a resume. Johnny says it’s one thing to bend the truth and they do go to church sometimes, but this is a full on lie. Tate says they would understand if they want to back out now. Johnny asks what Chanel thinks. Chanel doesn’t love the idea of lying to Amy. Sophia apologizes but Chanel says that she and Johnny are ready to be parents and she’s looked at the wait list for adoption. Chanel feels like this was meant to be, so she agrees to go along with the story which excites Tate and Sophia. Tate says he will tell Amy to meet them at the DiMera Mansion then. Chanel says they will head home now to get their stories straight as she and Johnny walk away.

Holly tells Doug III that she’s been going over everything they said and she worried that she left him with the wrong impression. Holly says that she said she couldn’t forget his feelings but that doesn’t mean she returns them. Holly declares that she has a boyfriend who she loves very much. Doug III apologizes for putting her in a weird position and making things awkward between them. Doug III gets if she thinks they can’t be friends anymore. Holly doesn’t want anything to change as long as he knows friends is all they can ever be. Doug III says her friendship means the world to him so he wants to stay just friends. He adds that he’s already started to move on and Julie was adamant. She questions him telling Julie. Doug III assures that he didn’t use her name but Julie still gives the best advice. Holly calls it nice that he and Julie have gotten so close. Doug III still feels bad about stealing the necklace and tells Holly about Julie getting a letter from her brother Steven about not stealing it, so now she wants to go to the police to find the real culprit which makes him want to get it back even more. Holly asks how the search is going. Doug III says Leo is supposed to put him in a touch with a guy but he hasn’t heard back yet. Holly asks if he’s figured out how he’s going to pay for it yet. Doug III hopes he will let him pay it in installments as that’s the only plan he has, if the guy ever gets back to Leo. Holly suggests they go find Leo in person. Doug III figured she had better things to do like hang out with her boyfriend. Holly responds that Tate has his hands full today since he found a couple to adopt his baby.

Tate tells Sophia that he hoped to surprise Holly with lunch today to make up for the times he flaked on her. Sophia tells him that she can go without him but Tate insists this is more important. Sophia asks if Holly won’t be upset. Tate says they didn’t have firm plans and she’s been amazing about the whole situation. Sophia remarks that it must be nice to have someone to lean on. Tate encourages that Sophia has him as no matter what happens, they are in this together. Sophia thanks him and says it means a lot. Sophia tells Tate that she will go get her mom and see him at the DiMeras.

EJ tells Paulina that he is not heading anywhere near a jail cell. Paulina argues that he is named in the highest profile case in years since Ava named him in aiding Rachel Blake in her kidnapping. EJ argues that Ava has a grudge against him and will do anything for revenge. Paulina asks about what EJ has done to Jada. EJ claims to have done nothing to her. Paulina brings up the theory that EJ replaced Rafe with an impostor which EJ calls absurd. Paulina argues that it’s no coincidence and that EJ has tried this scheme before with Arnold Feniger. EJ responds that Arnold is dead and there is concrete evidence that Jada is just as dirty as the felons behind bars, so the public will see her administration has been in freefall for cutting him for personal reasons. EJ argues that she just had to let him do his job, but instead, she jeopardized her entire re-election. EJ vows that if Jada is convicted, Paulina will beg him to come back as district attorney.

Chanel and Johnny go home where Chanel asks if he thinks they can pull this off. Johnny asks how up she is on her bible verses and tells her not to worry because they are just going to focus as much as they can on the truth that they are good decent people and the baby will grow up surrounded by love. Johnny declares the most important thing is that Amy sees they are all one big happy family. They then head in to the living room where Paulina calls EJ an arrogant son of a bitch.

Jada tells Gabi that she feels like an idiot for being a detective and not realizing Rafe had been replaced by a different person. Gabi relates to knowing Rafe her whole life. Jada complains that Arnold kissed her and she should’ve noticed the difference then. Jada cries that Rafe needs their help and they need to find him. Gabi wonders how they know if Rafe is still alive. Jada insists that they would know if Rafe was gone. Jada encourages Gabi to listen to her heart. Gabi agrees that Rafe is still out there somewhere. Jada declares they will find him together.

Holly and Doug III walk through the town square. They sit together and talk about being unable to find the necklace while Leo said he would try to find who bought it. Holly promises that they will find Julie’s necklace and holds his hand as Tate then approaches and questions what is going on here.

Paulina questions EJ thinking she’d give him his job back when he led a recall petition against her. Paulina tells EJ that he can go to Hell. Chanel questions what is going on here. Paulina says she was kindly explaining why she wouldn’t give EJ his job back while Johnny notes it didn’t sound very kind to him. EJ remarks that he was nothing but cordial. Chanel tells them they don’t have time for this because Amy Choi is on her way over to have lunch with them. EJ asks who that is. Johnny reminds them that they want to adopt Tate and Sophia’s baby and Amy is the Grandmother. Chanel says Amy has final say so they need to make a good impression. Paulina says she will get out of their hair then but Johnny says it’s perfect that she’s there, so they can show Amy that they have strong family values. Chanel adds that having EJ there as well will help show that. Paulina laughs at the idea of EJ having strong family values. EJ comments on raising his children and asks how Lani is. Paulina tells him to keep her daughter’s name out of his mouth. Chanel says that’s enough as this is really important to them. Chanel says if they can’t act civil for one lunch then they both should leave. Paulina apologizes as she and EJ agree to be on their best behavior. Johnny decides he and Chanel will go get changed while trusting they won’t kill each other. EJ says he can count on them as they head upstairs. Paulina tells EJ that she is so over him while EJ says she’s not exactly his favorite person but they agree they need to make a good impression for Amy and their children. Amy then arrives with Sophia and says she hopes they aren’t interrupting.

Holly tells Tate that she and Doug III were just talking. Tate points out that they were holding hands. Holly claims she was just supporting him as a friend. Tate questions what she’s talking about. Holly says it’s not really her place to say but Doug III tells her it’s okay to tell him the truth about everything, so Tate takes a seat. Holly tells him he doesn’t have to say anything but he insists. Doug III tells Tate that Holly was just trying to make him feel better because he did something awful and the guilt was killing him. Tate asks what he did. He responds that he stole a very expensive necklace. Tate questions him being a thief. Holly explains that he made a mistake and he’s trying to make it right. Doug III admits that Holly has been helping him. Tate question how she has been helping him. Holly explains that they are trying to track down the necklace to return it to it’s rightful owner. Tate asks if she means the person he stole it from and asks if Holly is sure she wants to get wrapped up in this when she could get in trouble. Holly insists that she knows what she’s doing and she’s fine. Tate says he has to get going because Johnny and Chanel are meeting Sophia’s mother and he should be there, but tells Holly that he really wants to talk to her about this later, alone. Tate warns Holly to watch her purse as he walks away. Holly questions why Doug III told Tate that he stole the necklace.

Paulina tells Amy that she’s not interrupting and they were just talking about wanting to make a good first impression. Amy understands it’s all a little nerve racking. Paulina introduces herself to Amy, who acknowledges her as the Mayor. Amy introduces Sophia while EJ introduces himself. Sophia mentions that she used to hang out with Holly sometimes while Amy recalls hanging out with Nicole in the past, who she believes is still EJ’s wife. Amy mentions not seeing Nicole in ages and asks if she will be joining them. Sophia informs her that EJ and Nicole got divorced last year. EJ adds that Nicole lives in Paris now. Amy apologizes. Paulina assures Nicole is happy and thriving. EJ says he wishes her the best and they would still be married if it were up to him, but there was nothing he could do as she left him for another man. Paulina suggests not boring Amy with the details of his divorce and moving on to more cheerful topics. Amy assures that he’s not boring her and appreciates his honesty. Johnny returns to the room and introduces himself to Amy. Johnny assumes they have all now met. Amy confirms that EJ was just telling them about his divorce from Nicole. Johnny assures that he and Chanel are not heading for that same fate as they are in it for the long haul. Johnny adds that they are hoping Tate and Sophia’s baby could be the first step in growing their family. Amy says she’s happy to hear that but choosing the right adoptive parents of her grandchild is no easy decision and suggests getting to know each other better. Johnny agrees and says his wife will be joining them shortly as Chanel then enters, dressed religiously, and apologizes for keeping them waiting.

Jada tells Gabi that they need to prove the man in custody is Arnold and use it as leverage to get him to tell them where Rafe is. Gabi suggests they go to the station but Jada feels he’ll just stick to his amnesia story and remain lawyered up. Gabi tells Jada to give her ten minutes alone with him but Jada worries the charges would get tossed so going through “Arnold” is a dead end. Gabi declares there is one other person that could lead them to Rafe and that’s EJ. Jada agrees that if EJ knows anything about this, he’ll know where Rafe is. Gabi wonders where he would be since it wouldn’t be in the DiMera Mansion where too many people could find him. Jada flashes back to running in to EJ in the tunnels. Jada then tells Gabi that EJ might not keep Rafe in the mansion, but he might be keeping him under it.

Chanel mentions the staff at the DiMera Mansion while Sophia encourages their baby would get gourmet cooking. Tate arrives and apologizes for being late, noting that he wanted to bring dessert to show off Chanel’s bakery. Amy comments on feeling the Sweet Bits name of the Bakery was inappropriate. Chanel claims that never crossed her mind. Johnny jokes that sometimes they are too innocent for their own good. EJ offers to get Amy a drink, so she asks for a water which he goes to get. Amy comments on Chanel’s necklace, which she claims her mother got her for her first communion. Amy asks about EJ’s parents. EJ says his mother is quite devout while nothing is more important to his father. Amy says Johnny and Chanel are so lucky to find families that share similar values. Gabi and Jada then burst in as Gabi asks where the hell her brother is and calls EJ a sick son of a bitch.

Doug III tells Holly that he never told Tate it was Julie’s necklace so he has no idea of the connection to the Hortons. He adds that Tate clearly had the wrong idea about them, so he felt it was best to tell him the truth. Holly feels it was still really risky. Doug III says maybe it was but he’s not going to ask her to lie to Tate. Holly doesn’t know what to say and thanks him. Doug III says now the only question is, is Tate going to rat him out before he can make things right?

Sophia asks what’s happening. Tate has no clue but says it can’t be good. Paulina suggests they discuss this at another time. EJ says they have a lot of nerve barging in. Jada says they want answers and asks where Rafe is. Johnny asks EJ what they are talking about as Amy looks on concerned. Gabi questions him not hearing and informs him that EJ kidnapped Rafe and replaced him with Arnold Feniger again. EJ denies it while Johnny argues that Arnold is dead. Jada and Gabi reveal they just tested the man in custody’s DNA and it’s not Rafe, so they think he was switched out months ago. Johnny confronts EJ and hopes he had nothing to do with this after what Arnold did to Sami. EJ insists that he didn’t. Jada guesses he won’t mind if she looks around in the tunnels then. EJ calls this absurd. Jada asks Johnny to show her to the tunnels. Amy questions what is going on here. EJ argues that Jada can’t go snooping around without a warrant. Jada reminds EJ that she’s not a cop anymore thanks to him. Gabi says if EJ has nothing to hide, he will let her go down the tunnels. Jada asks Johnny again to show her to the tunnels, so Johnny opens the passage and Jada heads down. Tate suggests rescheduling this but EJ says there is no need as Gabi and Jada will be leaving very soon and he’ll be expecting an apology before they go. Gabi warns EJ about hurting Rafe while EJ claims not to know anything about Rafe or Arnold. Johnny warns that he better be telling the truth and swears that if EJ had anything to do with the man who raped his mother, there will be hell to pay. Jada returns from the tunnels and announces there is no sign of Rafe. EJ tells them that he was never there and to get out of his house. Gabi warns that this isn’t over while Jada declares that once they find Rafe, EJ will go to prison for the rest of his life as they then exit.

Holly assures Doug III that he can trust Tate to keep a secret. Doug III says that’s if he wants to because it’s very obvious he’s not Tate’s favorite person and he keeps catching him alone with her, so he questions why Tate would keep it quiet for him. Holly says he would for her and insists that she will make him understand why it’s important. Holly adds that Tate probably isn’t even thinking about it since he’s too busy trying to prepare Sophia’s mom to meet the DiMeras.

Amy declares that she’s lost her appetite and is leaving. Paulina argues that whatever is going on with EJ is not a reflection on Chanel and Johnny. Amy doesn’t know what to believe and declares that she is going to have a long chat with Tate and Sophia to reevaluate things. Amy then takes Sophia and exits. Tate guesses he’ll be in touch and follows them out. Chanel cries that there’s no way they are going to get to adopt the baby now.

Sophia pleads with Amy to give EJ a chance to explain himself. Tate adds that it sounded like Gabi and Jada were wrong while Sophia points out that Jada was all over the news and Gabi has been before too. Amy states that even if they were wrong, Johnny admitted that EJ was once mixed up with this horrible man. Amy declares that she’s sorry, but she’s not stepping one foot back in that house of horrors and she’s certainly not giving Johnny and Chanel her grandchild.

Johnny complains that EJ just ruined he and Chanel’s chances of adopting Tate and Sophia’s baby. EJ questions Johnny blaming him when Jada and Gabi were the ones storming in with baseless accusations. Johnny asks if they were baseless. EJ swears that he is not holding Rafe hostage. Johnny asks why he saw EJ hanging out with Rafe around the holidays. EJ tells him that he hired Rafe to investigate Jada and couldn’t just come out and tell him. Johnny recalls Rafe acting like he didn’t even know him and asks if it was Arnold the whole time. EJ pretends not to know and says it must have been. Johnny questions EJ having no idea that Rafe was ever replaced. EJ says it’s the truth. Johnny hopes it is and warns that if he finds out that EJ lied to him again about the man who violated his mother, he will never see him, Chanel, or their family ever again and he will never forgive him. Johnny then walks out.

Maggie joins Holly in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and questions her doing homework on a snow day. Holly says she’s just keeping busy and guesses Maggie has been too since she didn’t see her yesterday. Maggie informs her that she took Julie to Chicago for an impromptu shopping spree to try to lift her spirits after her first Valentine’s Day without Doug. Maggie says it was special for both of them. Maggie then asks Holly how her Valentine’s Day was with Tate and if it was everything she hoped for.

Tate finds Sophia in the town square and asks if everything is okay after she wasn’t in school. Sophia says she’s fine and her mom just forced her to stay home after her cramps, but she’s feeling much better today and her morning sickness is gone. Sophia brings up her mom not standing in the way of adoption making her feel like a huge weight has been lifted. Tate informs her that he has some great news and reveals that he found a couple that wants to adopt their baby.

Johnny goes to see Marlena in her office at the hospital with roses which he says are for Chanel.

Chanel wakes up in a hospital bed with Paulina at her side. Chanel questions how Paulina knew she was there. Paulina says she found out at the Bakery and questions why she didn’t know she was in the hospital. Chanel responds that she didn’t want to worry her. Paulina asks what’s going on and if she’s alright. Chanel says she just had a minor out patient procedure as she had some tissue removed from her uterus. Paulina questions if she had another miscarriage but Chanel assures there wasn’t a pregnancy, just some cells where they weren’t supposed to be. Paulina then asks if Chanel is saying she has cancer.

Marlena tells Johnny that she’s glad that Chanel’s procedure went well. Johnny notes that Kayla said they got all of the tumor so Chanel likely won’t have follow up treatment. Marlena says if Chanel ever wants to talk about it, her door is always open. Johnny says they haven’t told anyone about this, including Paulina, because they know she would freak out if she heard cancer. Marlena agrees to keep it confidential. Marlena guesses Paulina doesn’t know that Chanel is in the hospital. Johnny confirms she has no idea.

Chanel assures Paulina that she doesn’t have cancer and just had cancerous cells removed, but Kayla said she will be fine. Paulina is relieved and talks about knowing that a cancer diagnosis isn’t what it used to be. Chanel calls her a great example of surviving cancer. Paulina says she’s grateful every day. Chanel apologizes for not telling her as she didn’t want to upset her after she’s already been through so much this year. Paulina tells her not to worry about that and let her be there for her.

Sophia asks Tate who wants to adopt their baby. Tate reminds her of when they ran in to Johnny and Chanel. Tate says he saw them at the hospital and they got to talking and they’ve been having fertility issues. Sophia asks if they are really serious about adopting their baby. Tate confirms they are and he knows there’s still a lot to figure out but it’s great. Sophia questions Tate knowing about this for awhile and just now telling her. Tate says he texted her yesterday. Sophia questions doing it through text, but then she remembers it was Valentine’s Day, so she asks how everything went with Holly. Tate says it was good. Sophia bets he told Holly about the couple wanting to adopt their baby before he told her. Tate admits that she knows. Sophia bets Holly is just as thrilled since if it works out, their baby won’t be a problem for them anymore.

Holly tells Maggie that her Valentine’s Day with Tate was great and romantic. Maggie is glad to hear and admits she was worried and concerned that Doug III might have gotten in the way.

Doug III sits in the living room of the Horton house and thinks back to confessing his feelings to Holly until Julie comes in and asks for his thoughts.

Paulina asks Chanel how she found out about the abnormal cells. Chanel explains that she and Johnny knew they had to wait six months before she could get pregnant again, so they made an appointment with Kayla to start trying. Paulina guesses it didn’t turn out like they hoped which Chanel confirms. Paulina asks if this means they will have to wait even longer. Chanel says that it does and that her chances of another molar pregnancy have increased. Chanel is not sure she’s ready to go through that heartbreak again. Chanel then informs Paulina that she and Johnny have been talking about going through another route to starting a family as they have been talking about adoption.

Johnny tells Marlena that it’s not like Chanel won’t be able to get pregnant again in the future and they are not ruling that out, but they want to start a family now. Johnny asks if Marlena doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Marlena says she’s just processing it but she doesn’t understand the rush since they are both very young and just came through a rough patch in their marriage. Johnny says before the whole mess with Alex and Joy, they were talking about having a baby and that’s what they wanted to do. Johnny insists that they feel stronger than ever after everything they’ve been through. Johnny states that things are really good between them right now and it feels like fate that this situation has fallen in to their laps which Marlena questions. Johnny then informs her that they found a couple that wants to give their baby up for adoption and they know them, so it feels like it could be a really good fit. Marlena asks if she knows them. Johnny reveals that it’s Sophia and Tate.

Tate tells Sophia that he didn’t mean to upset her and apologizes if he overstepped since this is her decision too. Tate insists that Johnny and Chanel are really great people and everything felt like it was falling in to place. Sophia just wishes he talked with her about it before telling Holly. Tate admits he should have and apologizes. Sophia says it’s okay and that she understands. Sophia brings up that Tate has known Johnny his whole life which should make things easier to feel like they are giving the baby to a loving home with a happy life. They agree that is all they want. Sophia adds that as much as Tate might love Johnny and Chanel and think they will be the perfect parents, she’s afraid her mother might not.

Holly asks Maggie why she would think Doug III would have gotten in the way of her Valentine’s Day with Tate. Maggie explains that she saw Julie, who mentioned that Doug III went to fetch a book of poems from the cabin so she worried that they were going to have a collision course. Maggie says she wanted to warn her but she didn’t want to interrupt her evening. Holly assures that it all worked out for the most part as Tate was running late since he had to take Sophia to the hospital for cramps and while she was waiting, Doug III showed up and found the book of poems. Maggie notes that Julie is grateful and calls Doug III a nice young man. Maggie says she’s glad Doug III showed up in Julie’s life when he did. Holly agrees that he is nice and great. Maggie asks if there’s something more. Holly then flashes back to Doug III admitting to her that he stole Julie’s necklace. Maggie then asks if there’s a problem between her and Doug III. Holly says it’s not a problem exactly but reveals she was taken aback because Doug III told her that he had feelings for her.

Doug III claims to Julie that he was just thinking about his Grandfather, Doug with the book of poems. Julie talks about it being one of the few material things that still mean something to her and says she’s fortunate it made it through the fire along with the time capsule. Julie wishes that Alice’s diamond necklace hadn’t disappeared on her watch and declares that she will never forgive herself for that. Doug III tells her that she can’t blame herself for the necklace being stolen as the only person to blame is the thief. Julie blame herself for pointing the finger at her own brother, who was there for Doug’s funeral and then he had to leave, so Doug III didn’t get to meet him. Julie says they hadn’t seen each other in years but vowed to stay in closer touch. Julie comments that you can’t have too much family around in times like this. Julie then reveals that her brother sent her a letter yesterday, talking about how wonderful it was for them to reconnect and then he said that Ciara was wrong to accuse him of stealing the necklace. Julie reads the letter where Steven swore on the memory of Tom and Alice that he had nothing to do with it. Julie explains to Doug III that Steven had trouble with the law in his younger days, but she knows that if he’s swearing on Tom and Alice’s memory then he would never lie. Julie says she was so focused on it being Steven that she didn’t imagine any other possibilities. Doug III asks what other possibilities she thinks there could be. Julie admits she doesn’t know. Doug III tells her that he knows some people in the family think he might have stolen the necklace and asks if that’s what Julie thinks too.

Maggie questions Holly telling her that Doug III said he had feelings for her. Holly explains that they were reading Doug’s book of poems and guesses he got carried away as that’s when he told her that he had feelings for her. Maggie asks how she feels about that.

Chanel asks Paulina how she feels about them adopting. Paulina says if it’s the safest thing for her, she’s for it. Chanel thanks her as they hug. Paulina says all she cares about is her being happy. Paulina talks about knowing adoption agencies and offers to cut through any red tape. Chanel thanks her but says it looks like they might not have to go through an agency since the baby they might be adopting belongs to someone they know.

Marlena knows this would be an answer to Tate and Sophia’s plans but asks what her mother thinks. Johnny says she’s warming up to the idea, provided the adopting couple have good Christian values. Johnny admits they are not sure they fit the bill.

Sophia reminds Tate that her mom thinks having good Christian values means being members of the Korean Baptist church. Tate calls that so narrow minded. Tate says Johnny and Chanel aren’t Korean but he thinks Chanel might be Baptist. Sophia says she likes them but she thinks Johnny and Chanel passing the Amy Choi test is going to be an uphill battle. Amy then arrives and asks if she heard her name, startling Sophia.

Julie assures Doug III that she does not think he stole the necklace, believing he wasn’t even in town at the time and didn’t know about it. Julie adds that his previous run-ins with the law doesn’t make him the thief. Julie compares it to Doug having trouble with the law but later changing in to a strong and loving man. Doug III wishes he could be more like his Grandfather. Julie encourages that he is and she knows that Doug is watching over them, happy that he is now part of her life. Doug III goes back to the necklace and asks about her not suspecting her brother. Julie says she was afraid of implicating Steven but she’s going to have to talk to JJ about it. Julie says the necklace belonged to her Grandmother and that’s what makes it precious to her because Alice was the diamond in their family. Julie declares that it would mean the world to get it back. Doug III says he’s praying for that too.

Holly tells Maggie that when Doug III said he had feelings for her, it didn’t make her have any feelings for him, adding that Tate is her boyfriend who she loves. Maggie guesses it made her uncomfortable. Holly thinks Doug III was mortified and calls it no big deal. Maggie points out that Holly did bring it up as something that bothered her. Maggie asks if it bothers Tate. Holly admits that Tate doesn’t know as she could tell he was a bit jealous and brought up how he keeps finding them together. Holly feels there’s no point in saying anything. Maggie says that is as long as Doug III is completely clear where Holly stands. Holly thinks he is and says they didn’t finish the conversation since he left in a hurry. Holly remarks that she and Tate don’t need another problem added to their relationship.

Amy questions Sophia and Tate talking about a couple passing the Amy Choi test. Sophia confirms that Tate was telling her about these wonderful people interested in adopting their baby. Amy asks who it is. Sophia informs her that it’s Tate’s cousin Johnny and his wife Chanel, who both come from prominent Salem families. Sophia doesn’t recognize their names from their church. Sophia says they go to a different church and claims they are very active members. Sophia claims that Chanel even runs the women’s bible study, insisting they are very religious and she knows they are the perfect couple to adopt their baby. Amy calls that a relief because she’s not giving her grandchild over to any one who is not.

Marlena encourages Johnny that any baby would be lucky to have he and Chanel as parents. regardless of religion. Johnny isn’t sure that will cut it for Sophia’s mom. Marlena tells him to let her know if there’s anything she can do to help. Johnny asks if Marlena thinks this is a good idea. Marlena knows Tate and Sophia are not ready to be parents while Johnny and Chanel are. Marlena comments on the transition keeping the baby in the family. Johnny admits they haven’t gotten in to specifics. Marlena calls it a lot to think about and wishes him luck with whatever they decide.

Paulina questions Chanel about her and Johnny adopting Tate’s baby. Paulina says what concerns her is keeping an adoption in the family can be difficult. Chanel guesses she’s thinking about Lani. Paulina talks about how hard it was for her to give Lani up to her sister and how it led to a whole lot of problems between them. Chanel assures they plan to be upfront with the baby from the beginning with no secrets. Chanel adds that she’s not sure how involved Sophia will want to be since she is very driven to go off to college and med school. Paulina asks about Johnny and Tate being cousins and how that could be a source of conflict. Chanel doesn’t want to get ahead of themselves. Paulina feels it could be a wonderful arrangement but could also be much more complicated than they realize.

Amy says she wants to meet Chanel and Johnny before any decision is made and suggests doing it today for lunch. Sophia calls that short notice. Amy says not if this really matters to them, so Tate agrees to set it up and thanks Amy as she walks away. Tate questions Sophia making claims about bible study. Sophia admits she got carried away while Tate remarks that this will be an interesting lunch.

Johnny and Marlena join Chanel and Paulina in Chanel’s hospital room. Chanel notes that she just got Paulina all up to speed. Chanel adds that Kayla just discharged her and she feels great. Marlena mentions Johnny telling her about the adoption plans and says they would like to have them, Tate, Sophia, and Brady over for dinner. Johnny adds that Tate said he would speak to Sophia and would be in touch. Johnny then gets a text from Tate about meeting up. Marlena says that sounds like good news.

Maggie asks Holly how things are going with Tate, Sophia, and the pregnancy. Holly responds that Tate is with Sophia now, talking about adoption stuff. Holly says they are all just hoping it works out. Maggie calls it a very stressful situation for her. Maggie is sure it means a lot to Tate that Holly is by his side through all of this. Holly responds that she loves Tate. Maggie questions if Holly has thought about what might happen if the adoption doesn’t work out. Holly says she’s trying not to go there, but if Tate and Sophia end up having to raise the baby together, then the three of them will have to figure it out together.

Doug III tells Julie that he’s sorry the whole necklace situation is so upsetting to her. Julie says he’s not to blame and thanks him for caring and retreiving the book of poetry. Julie asks if he ran in to Holly at the cabin since Maggie said that she and Tate were celebrating Valentine’s together. Doug III confirms that he did run in to Holly, but he got out of there as soon as Tate showed up. Julie calls that wise so he wasn’t a third wheel on Valentine’s Day. Julie says she is off to the grocery store and exits.

Paulina tells Marlena that she felt terrible that Chanel didn’t want to share with her that she was in the hospital. Marlena believes Chanel didn’t want to worry her and adds that Johnny didn’t tell her either. Paulina asks if Marlena knew about the adoption. Marlena says she didn’t until just now but she thinks it’s a wonderful solution for everyone involved. Marlena asks if Paulina disagrees. Paulina just wants them to know what they are getting in to. Marlena thinks they do. Paulina says they will see. Marlena adds that she’s glad Chanel’s procedure went well. Paulina prays there is a happy ending for everyone.

Johnny and Chanel walk through the town square. Johnny asks if she’s sure she’s up to this. Chanel assures that she feels fine and she can’t wait another minute to find out if they are going to be parents. Johnny hopes Paulina didn’t upset her. Chanel says she was fine after she got done panicking. Chanel relates to Sophia, having a mom that loves her so much that sometimes it feels like you can’t breathe. They meet with Sophia and Tate. Sophia says they are really excited they are interested in adopting their baby. Tate adds that Amy wants to meet them if they are free for lunch. Johnny says they live in a house with servants and cooks so it would be no problem. Chanel adds that they are very eager to meet her. Sophia then tells them that there are one or two things they should know beforehand.

Doug III remains in the Horton house and thinks back to confessing his feelings to Holly before Tate interrupted them. Holly then enters the room.

Kristen asks Brady what he thinks is going to happen to Rachel if she gets arrested. Brady responds that he’ll get full custody and Rachel will be much better off. Kristen calls that an awful thing to say to her and tells him to think harder. Kristen reminds him that child protective services said if there was one more incident, they could both lose Rachel forever. Kristen asks if Brady wants them both to lose their little girl. Brady responds that what he wants is for Kristen to pay for what she did and he thinks she should get time in prison. Kristen asks if he wants that more than he wants to hold on to their daughter. Kristen admits she was involved with Ava’s kidnapping, but so was Rachel, and if that gets out, Rachel could go in to the system permanently. Kristen warns Brady to talk to Ava so that she doesn’t talk to the police.

Belle talks about how she can’t believe it since everyone warned her about EJ. Belle remarks that she didn’t think it would all come back to bite her in the ass so quick but she was wrong. EJ asks her to listen but Belle says she’s done and tells him to shut the hell up and listen to her now. Belle says despite what’s been happening between them the last few weeks, she will not hesitate to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.

Kayla goes to see Marlena in her office and invites her to dinner. Marlena says she has a lot of files to finish. Kayla says she can bring them with her and insists on dinner with her and Steve. Marlena asks if it’s out of sympathy since John is out of town. Kayla assures that it’s not and they just have a lot of food that she can help finish. Marlena then accepts the invitation. They get ready to leave but Gabi rushes in and tells Kayla that it’s an emergency.

After Rita switched Arnold with Rafe, Rafe wakes up sitting at the kitchen table at home. Jada and Shawn arrive to confront him. Jada talks to him as if he’s Arnold and questions where Rafe is. Jada demands to know where Rafe is. Confused, Rafe asks who is Rafe and who Jada is.

Marlena asks Gabi if she’s alright. Gabi says it’s not her and it’s going to sound crazy but she thinks they figured out that Rafe has been acting crazy because he’s not Rafe. Kayla questions what she means. Gabi brings up when EJ replaced Rafe with Arnold Feniger. Marlena recalls that being when Rafe was married to Sami. Gabi says this time, Rafe was engaged to Jada. Kayla asks what Gabi is saying. Gabi declares that Arnold is back and EJ has done it again.

Shawn and Jada talk to Rafe as if he is Arnold, telling him to cut the crap and that they know the truth. Rafe wishes he knew what they were talking about. Shawn says they are not going to fall for it. Jada calls it pathetic and asks if he looked up how to pretend to have amnesia. Jada warns him to stop playing dumb and start talking.

EJ asks Belle if they can talk about this, arguing that it doesn’t have to be so adversarial. Belle blames EJ for trying to cover up Ava’s kidnapping behind her back. Belle calls it a legal matter now. EJ asks if she’s serious. Belle says she’s the district attorney and it’s her job to follow the evidence where it leads and if it leads to throwing his ass in prison, that’s exactly what she will do. Belle then storms out, leaving EJ frustrated.

Brady can’t believe Kristen is using their daughter as a shield. Kristen argues that she’s just giving him the facts since Rachel committed a crime. Brady argues that Rachel lured Ava but was only able to keep her there with the help of Kristen and her mom, so they need to pay for what they did and CPS will understand that. Kristen insists that the only way to keep their daughter safe is to keep her at home where she belongs. Kristen declares that she’s going to check on her mother unless Brady wants to try to stop her. Kristen then exits the room, leaving Brady upset.

Marlena doesn’t understand as she thought Arnold was dead. Gabi says the timing was more than a coincidence since Arnold was set to testify against Stefano and EJ. Kayla questions thinking he faked his death. Gabi says the DiMeras did and now Arnold has reappeared in her kitchen. Gabi says at first she thought the personality change could have been from Rafe’s coma, but things got worse and he cheated on Jada with the stripper from the bachelor party. Marlena asks if that’s when she thought Arnold returned. Gabi explains that Stephanie figured it out after Arnold hit on her which has happened before. Kayla remembers that while Marlena calls it horrifying. Kayla says she’s sorry that Gabi’s family is going through this but she doesn’t know why she came to her. Gabi responds that Arnold refuses to admit he’s an impostor, so she came to prove that he is.

Rafe insists to Jada and Shawn that he has no idea what they are talking about. Jada says they don’t have time for this and asks where Rafe is. Rafe responds that he doesn’t know a Rafe or a Feniger either. Jada demands he start talking now. Rafe asks what she wants him to say. Shawn asks what he’s done with Rafe. Rafe says he can’t tell him what he doesn’t know. Shawn declares that he will have to take him in then for suspicion of kidnapping.

Kristen goes home to the DiMera Mansion, complaining to EJ that the cops wouldn’t let her see her mother until her arraignment tomorrow. Kristen asks EJ if she can get some brotherly sympathy. EJ says he’s terribly sorry but he has his own problems as Belle was just there. Kristen mentions seeing her at the station and guesses she broke off their little fling. EJ responds that Belle intends to prosecute him as an accessory to what the Blake women did to Ava and he assumes Ava already told the cops about his involvement. Kristen tells EJ that he won’t have to worry because she made sure that Ava is not a problem.

Brady goes to Ava’s room and checks on her. Ava says she’s better and there’s nothing like sleeping in her own bed. Brady offers to get her food but Ava says what would make her feel better is if he told her that Kristen has been arrested. Brady says not yet. Ava brings up Brady texting her that Belle was working on a warrant. Brady says that might not be their biggest problem and tells Ava that they have to talk.

Belle goes to see Marlena at her office. Marlena asks what’s going on. Belle tells her that it’s EJ. Marlena asks what he has done. Belle complains that everyone said to stay away and it was insane to get involved with him, so now she is just so furious. Marlena asks her what happened. Belle says she fully expected to find out that EJ was behind the whole mess with Jada, but while focusing on that, she completely failed to see that EJ was actually mixed up in something completely different and equally as hurtful. Marlena asks what it was. Belle reveals to her that EJ was involved in Ava’s kidnapping.

Kristen explains to EJ that Ava can’t testify without implicating Rachel. EJ realizes any mention of Rachel’s involvement would result in a call to child protective services. Kristen says that Ava may hate her guts, but she wouldn’t hurt Brady that way. Kristen reminds EJ that this was her ace up her sleeve. EJ reminds Kristen who they are dealing with. Kristen says that she and Ava go way back. EJ asks how far Ava goes back with Rachel. EJ says that he, Kristen, and Brady would do anything for Rachel, but questions if Ava would feel the same way and if they can really trust a mafia princess to put the needs of a child above her own.

Ava asks Brady why they need to talk. Brady informs her that Kristen showed up at the police station to check on her mother. Ava thinks that would save the cops the trouble of having to haul her in. Brady says he thought the same thing. Ava asks what’s going on and says he can tell her. Brady then tells Ava that he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for her to press charges against Kristen.

Gabi reveals to Kayla that she pulled a hair from Arnold and thought if she did a DNA test, she could prove it was Arnold in her house. Kayla says she would need something to test it against something and asks if she has anything else of Arnold’s. Gabi questions her not having anything. Kayla says it’s possible they could have his blood on file but that case was closed a long time ago. Kayla then points out that they definitely do have a blood relative of Rafe’s.

Shawn and Jada talk about Arnold’s felonies and ask where Rafe is. Rafe insists that he doesn’t know who Rafe is and asks why they think he does. Shawn and Jada say they are going to have to do this the hard way then. Shawn informs Rafe that he’s placing him under arrest. Rafe says he’s making a big mistake. Shawn reads him his rights and handcuffs Rafe.

Ava questions why she shouldn’t press charges against Kristen when she knew that her mother was holding her prisoner and did nothing about it. Ava adds that if Steve hadn’t cleaned up her voicemail, she would still be tied to a wheelchair in the haunted house. Brady says he understands but adds that Kristen wanted to let her go until her mother talked her out of it because she knew what would happen to Rachel if the cops knew she was involved in a kidnapping plot. Ava asks where Brady is going with this. Brady responds that Kristen left Ava not to hurt her, but to protect their daughter. Ava declares that Kristen did hurt her so she’s going to pay for it. Ava adds that she’s not only going to press charges, she’s going to testify about every agonizing minute she put her through. Brady understands but says the problem is if Ava implicates Kristen, she’s also going to implicate his daughter.

Kristen tells EJ that she’s not worried about Ava. EJ calls Ava a self serving snake. Kristen argues that Ava is also a mother and would expect Brady to do the same if the shoe was on the other foot. EJ asks if she really thinks Brady can convince Ava to let all this go. Kristen points out that Ava is free to resume her love with Brady, so she’s not going to throw it away by getting rid of his kid. EJ says they can hope. Kristen complains about EJ’s negativity and asks if he has a better way to keep Ava’s mouth shut. Kristen pleads with EJ to just trust her, insisting that Ava is neutralized. EJ responds that with any luck, Rafe is too.

Belle complains to Marlena that now that she knows EJ was an accessory to Ava’s kidnapping, she has no choice but to bring charges against him. Belle says she already planned to be prosecuting EJ for setting up Jada, so it will just be for something else. Belle guesses she should be glad it’s just one crime. Marlena tells Belle that she’s sorry but there might be more to it than that.

Gabi asks Kayla if testing her DNA against Arnold’s hair will prove they are not related. Kayla confirms it will but won’t confirm it’s Arnold Feniger. Gabi says that’s her next step but right now, she just needs to prove that the man in her house is not Rafe. Kayla agrees to help her.

Shawn and Jada take Rafe to the police station, believing he is Arnold. Shawn tells Jada that he took him to the interrogation room but he’s still playing dumb. Shawn asks Jada if there’s any chance this is not an act and he genuinely doesn’t know what they are talking about. Jada insists that there is no chance since Arnold knew Gabi would go to the cops so he thinks playing dumb will prevent them from getting justice. Shawn points out that it’s working since they don’t have any answers while Jada adds that they don’t have anything to help them find Rafe.

Ava tells Brady that she gets that he doesn’t want to lose his child and she doesn’t want that either, so she won’t say anything about Rachel. Brady argues that it’s not possible because Rachel is literally the one who lured Ava there, so he doesn’t how she can’t disclose that. Ava argues that the police won’t go after a little girl. Brady says it’s a serious crime so it would be their duty to report it to child protective services, who have already told him they could take her away from him if there was one more incident. Ava thought he wanted Kristen to pay for what she did, but it sounds to her like he wants her to get away with it.

Marlena tells Belle that it seems EJ was involved in Ava’s kidnapping and setting up Jada, by replacing Rafe with Arnold Feniger or at least that’s what Gabi thinks. Belle feels for Jada and Rafe, wondering where he is. Marlena is sure the police are doing everything they can to get to the bottom of it. Belle realizes Rachel Blake must have known since Brady said she got EJ to keep quiet about Ava, so this must have been what she had on him. Belle says she had a feeling that EJ was keeping something from her, but this is much worse than she thought. Belle cannot believe that she got involved with this monster again.

Kristen tells EJ that Rafe isn’t the only one who needs to be neutralized and asks what about Arnold. EJ tells Kristen that he’s been informed that Arnold has been removed from the situation to an undisclosed location. Kristen asks where he dumped him. EJ says it doesn’t matter and assures that Arnold is exiting Salem as they speak while the real Rafe is back with his family.

Kayla tells Gabi that they will compare the DNA samples to see what’s up. Gabi asks if she can do that now. Kayla says that the lab is closed but she will put a rush on it and get back to her as soon as she knows something. Gabi thanks Kayla as she walks away.

Shawn tells Jada that he will try again to get Arnold to talk. Jada offers to go with him but Shawn stops her as Jada remembers she’s on administrative leave and they have to do this by the book. Jada tells Shawn that she’s very worried about Rafe. Shawn promises to do everything in his power to get answers and tells Jada to go home while he will call her the second he finds out anything. Jada brings up that they now know that Rafe didn’t cheat on her and what happened between them. Shawn tells her to just focus on finding Rafe and repeats that he’ll let her know the second he knows anything. Jada thanks him as she exits the station.

Ava tells Brady that if she refuses to press charges, Kristen and her mother get away free. Ava asks if Brady is okay with that. Brady responds that he’s not but he has to protect his daughter. Ava says she feels for him because she would take a bullet for her son. Brady says he’s so sorry to ask this of her and says he wouldn’t if there was any other way out of this, but there’s not. Brady begs Ava for the sake of his little girl to keep what she knows to herself.

Kristen asks if EJ is worried that Rafe is going to talk. EJ asks why he should be since Kristen told him that Dr. Rolf perfected his memory erasing drug which means Rafe has forgotten all about this. Kristen points out that Belle is likely going to find out what EJ did. EJ argues that without a witness, she will never be able to prove it.

Belle tells Marlena that she can go ahead and say she told her so. Marlena says they all make mistakes. Belle argues that a drunken hook up or one night stand would’ve been a mistake but she chose to keep going back. Marlena asks if she thought EJ was going to change. Belle says no because EJ said he wouldn’t change, but she still stayed. Belle doesn’t know if it was her ego or a warped reaction to her divorce, but she totally defended EJ to Shawn this morning when Shawn told her that he was looking for proof that EJ framed Jada and she told him that he was being ridiculous and jealous. Belle tells Marlena that Shawn told her that deep down, she knew EJ was guilty of setting up Jada and the truth is, she did. Belle says she stood there arguing EJ’s case even though she knew it was more than likely that Shawn was right. Belle doesn’t know how she could be so stupid. Marlena encourages that she is not stupid. Marlena hugs Belle as she cries.

Kristen comments on EJ being calm, cool, and collected but she can tell that the Belle situation is getting to him. EJ repeats that he’s confident that she will never be able to build a case against him. Kristen says she meant the personal situation and talks about how EJ was floating after she left. Kristen asks about EJ caring for Belle and says he doesn’t have to admit it. Kristen then adds that she is sorry about EJ being roped in to the Ava business. EJ just wants to make sure that Rafe is blissfully ignorant to his role in his kidnapping. Kristen remarks that she’s sure Dr. Rolf’s drug is working it’s magic. EJ asks if she’s sure he got the dosage right. Kristen says she told Dr. Rolf that they needed to erase all memories of the last couple months and he assured that it would do the trick. EJ hopes that if Dr. Rolf was off, he went with too much rather than too little. Kristen comments on wanting Rafe’s mind to be a blank slate. EJ says that wasn’t his intention, but if that is the case, he certainly won’t be able to testify against him.

Shawn sits with Rafe in the interrogation room and says he knows he’s trying to save himself, but he’s not the only person involved here. Rafe guesses he’s talking about this Rafe person that he knows nothing about. Shawn talks about Jada finding out that Rafe has been missing. Rafe asks why he should care. Shawn tells him to have a heart because Jada’s been worried sick and just wants her fiancée back.

Jada goes home to Stephanie’s apartment. Gabi shows up at the door and informs her that she just gave Kayla a sample of Arnold’s DNA, so they are testing it against her DNA. Jada compliments Gabi’s work and asks if she had any luck finding out where Rafe is. Jada says that she and Shawn went at him pretty hard but he’s putting on an amnesia act, pretending not to know who any of them are. Jada says that Shawn has him in for questioning but she doesn’t think he’s going to crack any time soon. Gabi wonders how they are going to find Rafe.

Shawn tells Rafe that Jada and Rafe are engaged but the wedding didn’t end well and accuses him of being the one to leave her at the altar. Shawn asks if he’s going to give him anything to put Jada’s mind at ease. Rafe insists on not knowing Jada and points out that it’s getting late. Rafe argues that he can’t keep him here since he didn’t do anything. Shawn says that Arnold did, so they are going to continue until he admits it, even if they have to go all night. Rafe declares that he wants a lawyer then.

Belle finishes a phone call at the police station as Brady arrives. Belle tells Brady that she’s so glad that they found Ava and asks how she is. Brady says she’s okay considering she was held captive for two weeks. Belle can’t believe Kristen’s mother is still alive. Brady says she’s off her rocker but he’s really pissed at Kristen. Brady questions how Kristen could’ve known what her mother was doing to Ava and not stopped it. Belle says because she’s a sociopath. Brady says she’s paying for it now. Brady knows it’s past visiting hours but asks Belle if he can get in to see Kristen because he has some things to say to her. Belle then informs Brady that he can’t because Kristen is not in police custody.

Kristen enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion and tells EJ to pour her a drink. EJ asks if she had a rough day. Kristen talks about her mother being in custody while Ava is singing. EJ supposes it was bound to happen and remarks that it must have been quite the ordeal for Ava to have been tied up for weeks. Kristen questions EJ’s attitude towards this and reminds him that Ava could implicate both of them for leaving her there. EJ says it’s not that he’s not concerned, but he has far more pressing matters, beginning with their patient upstairs.

Upstairs in a bedroom at the DiMera Mansion, Rita is with Rafe who remains unconscious. Rita checks his pulse and says he’s doing fine. Rita says all Rafe has to do is sleep and let the drug do his work. Rita adds that when Rafe wakes up, he’ll never know another man has been living his life and hopefully he and Jada can pick up where they left off.

Stephanie uses her tablet to show Jada a picture of Arnold Feniger looking exactly like Rafe. Jada points out that it says Arnold was killed in jail. Stephanie says if he wasn’t, EJ could be using him again in Rafe’s place. Jada asks if she thinks that’s possible. Stephanie calls it just a theory and points out that Jada is the cop here. Jada agrees that it seems plausible. Stephanie declares if it is true, that means it wasn’t Rafe who left Jada at the altar or who cheated on her. Shawn then comes out of the shower in just his towel, leaving Stephanie surprised. Stephanie then states that from the looks of things, maybe Jada just cheated on Rafe.

Gabi demands “Rafe” get that stripper out of her house. “Rafe” argues that it’s his house, but tells her that Savannah is long gone. Gabi says they can talk then but “Rafe” doesn’t feel like talking. Gabi stops him and says he’s not going anywhere until he answers her question. He tells her to make it quick. Gabi says she finally figured out what’s going on with him. Gabi declares his personality change isn’t because of his coma but because he isn’t Rafe at all. Arnold questions what she’s talking about. Gabi tells him that she knows he’s not Rafe, so she tells him to cut the BS and tell her what he did with her brother.

Shawn tells Stephanie and Jada that Jada didn’t cheat on Rafe because “Rafe” ended things with her. Stephanie explains that she doesn’t think that was Rafe who ended things which Shawn questions. Jada shows Shawn the tablet on Arnold Feniger.

Gabi asks Arnold again what he did with Rafe. Arnold questions what she’s talking about, insisting that he is Rafe. Gabi says he may have the same face and haircut, but he’s not her brother. Gabi calls him Arnold Feniger.

Shawn remembers Arnold Feniger, but points out the article states he’s dead. Stephanie says maybe not as she’s looked in to it and reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated. Stephanie reminds Shawn that days before Arnold was supposed to testify against EJ and Stefano, he was apparently murdered in his jail cell. Stephanie says they are talking about the DiMeras and they could’ve kept him around in case they needed to use him again. Shawn admits that anything is possible with the DiMeras.

Kristen questions EJ saying that Rafe is upstairs. EJ confirms that Rita is watching over him. Kristen compares it to Stephen King’s “Misery” but EJ assures it’s nothing like that. Kristen argues that Rita is supposed to be preparing for a board meeting while EJ argues that they know she can multi-task. EJ says Rafe needs to be closely monitored until he regains consciousness. Kristen says when she walked in on them struggling over the syringe, it looked like Rafe had the upper hand and was going to inject EJ with CRS-17 to wipe his memory clean. Kristen calls it just as maddening that Brady and Steve got to Ava before they could inject her. EJ calls it unfortunate timing. Kristen says while EJ tends to Rafe, she is going to the police station to check on her mother. EJ stops her and says that’s the last thing she’s going to do.

Brady questions Belle about Kristen not being arrested yet when Ava told the cops everything. Belle says they have to do everything by the book and explains that she’s trying to get an arrest warrant. Brady hopes she got one for EJ as well. Belle asks why she would do that. Brady informs Belle that her boyfriend was in on the kidnapping of his girlfriend.

Arnold tells Gabi that she’s crazy, insisting he’s not Arnold and calls that impossible since he’s dead. Gabi tells Arnold that Alex told her that he hit on Stephanie earlier, just like Arnold did last time. Arnold asks if it’s a crime to flirt with a woman who is single. Gabi informs him that Stephanie isn’t single and has a boyfriend. Arnold says that’s too bad but if he knew, he wouldn’t have made a pass at her so he’s sorry. Gabi brings up his wedding date when she went to go see him and told him how much she loved him. Gabi says that Arnold gave her a weird hug that was too long and tight. Gabi calls it not very brotherly. Gabi then accuses Arnold of creeping on her too and calls him a son of a bitch and impostor. Gabi goes to slap Arnold but he catches her arm and warns her not to do that.

Shawn asks what Jada thinks of all this. Jada says it would explain why Rafe’s been acting like a completely different person. Shawn questions if she thinks he actually is a different person. Jada explains that before Stephanie told her the theory, she had no idea that Arnold ever existed and if she knew, she would’ve figured it out a lot sooner. Jada recalls it started right after New Year’s when he started acting strange and Steve said he never sent him on a case. Jada says that “Rafe” told her he didn’t want anyone to know he was working with EJ and that he only agreed to do it because he knew he wouldn’t find dirt on her. Jada argues that EJ arranged the whole thing and manufactured to make her look bad. Jada declares that this was all about EJ’s revenge on her for getting him sacked.

Belle asks Brady why EJ would have anything to do with Ava’s kidnapping. Brady informs her that Ava was an eye witness. Belle argues that Steve didn’t say anything about it. Brady explains that Steve didn’t know because he was looking for Rachel Blake when Ava told her. Belle goes over how this whole thing was to keep Brady and Ava apart, so she highly doubts EJ would involve himself in something that he had nothing to gain from. Brady explains that Ava said EJ wasn’t in on it to begin with and when he got there, Ava pleaded with him to help her and she thought he was going to until he had a side chat with Rachel Blake, then EJ left her there. Brady argues that Rachel Blake obviously got EJ to cooperate and guesses that she was holding something over his head, but what it was is the million dollar question.

Kristen asks EJ why she shouldn’t see her mother. EJ assumes Ava has told the police everything, including Kristen being a willing participant in her kidnapping, so Kristen would be walking straight in to the lion’s den. Kristen argues that she owes her and that EJ does too. EJ complains that she blackmailed him. Kristen says they are all in this together. EJ questions her just strolling in to the police department. Kristen calls it a risk she has to take and adds that she has an ace up her sleeve that could be a get out of jail free card for her, her mother, and EJ too. EJ asks if she will tell him what it is. Kristen says she will as soon as she knows it worked.

Shawn says not to get ahead of themselves since they don’t have definitive proof that it is Arnold Feniger. Jada says if it is true, it likely happened months ago. Jada talks about feeling violated and how she was so angry with Rafe for believing she was capable of the things she was accused of, but she believed he was capable of the same level of things so she’s no better than he is. Stephanie argues that no one could have known while Shawn declares that the first thing they need to do is find out whether it’s true or not. Jada asks where the real Rafe is if it is true.

EJ goes upstairs and checks with Rita on Rafe. Rita says his vital signs are steady and breathing is normal. EJ wants to assure the drugs are working as intended and that Rafe won’t remember his part in any of this, so he will only remember everything from before he was switched with Arnold and nothing after. Rita asks when EJ plans to return Rafe to his loved ones since he can’t have two Rafes running around. EJ declares that is why Arnold will be disposed of.

Gabi asks if Arnold is threatening her. Arnold says of course not and tells Gabi to stop calling him Arnold. Gabi tells him to prove he’s not Arnold. Gabi then begin speaking in Spanish and asks a trick question about their Aunt Hilda, who passed away. Arnold tries to blame it on recovering from his coma and having memory lapses. Gabi then claims there’s something in his hair and pulls out a piece of his hair.

Belle tells Brady that she was kind of worried about EJ’s involvement in Jada’s situation where she would understand the motive but this seems kind of random. Brady questions her not thinking there’s a connection between the two. Belle asks what that would be. Brady asks if Belle really believes EJ is this reformed man. Belle says not exactly. Brady insists that EJ is the same man he is that he’s always been. Brady says it took him a long time to accept that about Kristen. Brady advises Belle to cut and run before it’s too late. Belle asks what he means by too late. Brady explains that he’s tied to Kristen forever because of their daughter but Belle doesn’t have that tie to EJ. Brady says Kristen needs to understand that he needs to move forward with his life and that’s why she needs to pay for what she did. Brady tells Belle to get working on that arrest warrant because he’s not leaving until Kristen is brought in where she belongs. Kristen then arrives at the station and greets Brady.

Jada asks Stephanie if she has any idea where Rafe was being held the last time that EJ and Stefano replaced him with Arnold. Stephanie doesn’t remember what they did with him. Shawn says he’s on it and pulls out his phone. Jada cries that if Rafe has been held captive, he needs her. Jada feels she failed Rafe while Shawn encourages finding out the truth and helping Rafe. Jada suggests talking to EJ but Shawn says that’s a dead end because he won’t tell them anything and will lie. Shawn declares they have to play it smart and corner the dummy first. Jada agrees to seeing what Arnold will tell them.

Arnold questions Gabi pulling a piece of his hair. Gabi reveals that if he won’t tell her the truth, she’ll take it to the lab for a DNA test. Arnold tries to stop her but Gabi exits. Arnold worries that EJ is going to kill him.

EJ asks Rita if she understands what she needs to do. Rita confirms that she does but notes that she’s a little surprised that he’s abandoning ship now. EJ says he wouldn’t put it that way but he’s not keen to taking more chances and he doesn’t want to have to dose Rafe again. EJ remarks that none of this was his doing and if Arrnold didn’t show up at his door, he never would’ve replaced Rafe with him. Rita feels he made the best of a difficult situation. Rita asks about EJ’s plans to use Arnold to get back his district attorney job. EJ says that will no doubt be trickier but he may be able to obtain that objective. EJ tells Rita that she is relieved of her babysitting duties and sends her to go take care of Arnold. Rita says to wish her luck while EJ says she always delivers. Rita then exits. EJ goes to Rafe and tells him it’s his lucky day, so all he has to do is sleep a little while longer and his men will be there soon to take care of the rest.

Brady tells Kristen that he was looking for her. Belle decides she will go talk to EJ about what she and Brady discussed, so she can leave them to talk about things. Kristen is sure Brady heard the good news that her mother is alive. Brady asks how long she has known. Kristen says it was a few days after they brought Rachel home when she found Ava’s phone in Rachel’s backpack. Kristen goes over how she intended to rescue Ava and that’s when she found her mother and was as shocked as anyone about her involvement in this. Brady questions believing that her mother has been alive all this time and never reached out. Kristen explains that she thought she would be a burden or trouble. Brady remarks that turned out to be right. Kristen tells him not to be so cruel which Brady calls rich coming from her. Kristen says she is choosing to let that go. Kristen adds that she has a new perspective on why Rachel ran away that sheds a whole new light on things. Kristen states that if Rachel hadn’t gone, she would’ve never known her mother was alive and now she’s so happy to be reunited with her. Kristen tells Brady that she’s an old woman who can’t be blamed for all of this which Brady questions. Kristen says that everything her mother did was her thinking she was helping her and Rachel. Kristen doesn’t want her to suffer anymore. Brady notes that Belle told him Rachel Blake is in the interrogation room to prepare her final statement. Brady tells Kristen to go ahead if she wants to see her. Kristen questions why he’s being so nice to her. Brady says he’s feeling soft-hearted, so Kristen then heads in to the interrogation room. Brady follows her in as Kristen realizes there’s no one there. Kristen asks where her mother is. Brady responds that she’s in a holding cell. Kristen asks what he’s doing and what’s going on. Brady tells her that she’s going to answer for what she did to Ava. Brady reveals that Belle is working on her arrest warrant and declares he’s not going to let her leave this room until the police arrive with handcuffs. Kristen argues that he’s not thinking clearly or he would realize this is the worst thing he could do. Brady argues that she always has the idea that she never has to take responsibility with her actions ever. Kristen tells him to stop and think about who the mastermind was behind the kidnapping, reminding him that their daughter Rachel lured Ava and she only found out after. Brady argues that she did find out and did nothing to help Ava. Brady says that left Kristen to be the adult and be responsible but he’s trying to throw Rachel under the bus. Kristen declares that she would never hurt their daughter but if he pursues this, that’s what he will be doing.

Belle goes to the DiMera Mansion and confronts EJ in his room, asking how could he and says Brady told her what he did and that he was involved in holding Ava captive. EJ pretends not to know but Belle tells him not to lie to her because Ava said she saw him with her captor. EJ calls that preposterous and argues that Ava just despises him. EJ asks what other lies Ava spewed. Belle says that Ava claimed Kristen’s mother got EJ to keep quiet about the whole thing. EJ pretends to believe Kristen’s mother is dead. Belle says she can see right through his performance and that she knows Rachel Blake said something to him to keep him from going to the authorities. Belle asks EJ what she is holding over him. EJ claims there is absolutely nothing.

Shawn and Jada get prepared to go confront Arnold while Stephanie warns them to be careful because Arnold is dangerous. Shawn points out his gun and assures that he’s prepared for Arnold. Shawn opens the door to leave but Gabi arrives. Gabi assumes they’ve already heard about “Rafe”. Shawn says they were heading over to confront Arnold now. Gabi reveals that she already did and he denied being Arnold. Shawn says Arnold may have stonewalled her but he might be more receptive when he sees his police badge. Gabi tells them that Arnold is still at her house or at least was. Shawn assures they will find him and exits with Jada.

Rita goes to the Hernandez house and tells Arnold that EJ sent her. Arnold tells her they have trouble as they are on to him and know he’s not Rafe. Rita informs him that EJ is aware. Arnold asks if EJ is aware of how much this will cost him because he’s not going down for EJ’s crimes. Rita assures they are going to get Arnold out of the country. Arnold tells her not to think about sending him back to Argentina and says EJ better not think about turning against him because he will go to the police station to sing like a canary. Rita tells Arnold not to worry as she has everything she needs for a getaway. Rita digs through her purse and hands Arnold two passports, cash, and a burner phone. Rita then pulls out her taser and uses it to knock out Arnold. Rita says she’s sorry about that but they couldn’t have a loose cannon like him around. Rita declares that she will now just need to borrow those clothes.

Kristen asks Brady what he thinks is going to happen to Rachel if she gets arrested. Brady responds that he’ll get full custody and Rachel will be much better off. Kristen calls that an awful thing to say to her and tells him to think harder. Kristen reminds him that child protective services said if there was one more incident, they could both lose Rachel forever. Kristen asks if Brady wants them both to lose their little girl.

Belle tells EJ that Ava is going to give an official statement when she’s up to it. EJ argues that they will learn nothing but a medley of lies. Belle suggests that between Ava and Kristen’s mother, they will figure it out. EJ calls it all a ruse while Belle talks about how she can’t believe it since everyone warned her about EJ. Belle remarks that she didn’t think it would all come back to bite her in the ass so quick but she was wrong.

Gabi complains to Stephanie that she knows EJ is behind this, just like last time. Stephanie questions why EJ would pull Arnold out of mothballs after all these years and argues that it seems like a lot of trouble to go through just because Jada put Belle in as district attorney. Gabi says all she knows is that she’s really worried about Rafe. Gabi decides she should get going to the hospital and informs Stephanie that before she left, she took a hair from Arnold for a DNA test to prove whether or not he’s an impostor.

After Rita switched Arnold with Rafe, Rafe wakes up sitting at the kitchen table at home. Jada and Shawn arrive to confront him. Jada talks to him as if he’s Arnold and questions where Rafe is. Jada demands to know where Rafe is. Confused, Rafe asks who is Rafe?

While joining Marlena and Cat’s lunch in the town square, Chad talks about what the hospital meant to Abigail and the Hortons. Chad says he thought about reaching out to Kristen to see if DiMera could bail out the hospital, but he didn’t think the board would go for it. Marlena gets a message and says she has to get back to the office. Cat offers to go with her but Marlena tells her to stay with Chad and brainstorm. After Marlena exits, Cat apologizes to Chad for being put on the spot like that. Chad asks what she means. Cat feels like she’s the last person in the world that he would want to be working with. Cat says she gets it after everything she did to him and asks why he would ever want to team up with her again.

At the Brady Pub, Stephanie explains to Alex that a long time ago when Rafe was with her cousin Sami, a similar thing happened. Stephanie says it was here in the Brady Pub and she was stressed about her love life, then she ran in to “Rafe”, who was very sympathetic, but then gave her a very inappropriate hug. Alex asks if she’s saying that Rafe has pulled this crap before. Stephanie says that’s the thing as she found out later that it wasn’t Rafe and it was actually Arnold Feniger. Alex doesn’t understand and asks who Arnold Feniger is. Stephanie responds that he’s Rafe’s exact double.

“Rafe” tells Gabi to lighten up with the melodrama because he doesn’t need a lecture. Gabi asks why he’s being such a jerk. “Rafe” asks why she’s being a pain in his ass when she’s his sister and supposed to be on his side. Gabi asks why she would be on his side when Jada is her friend and he cheated on her which she calls a sleazy thing to do. “Rafe” remarks that she doesn’t have to be such a bitch about it. Gabi questions him calling her a bitch and says he doesn’t get to talk to her like that. “Rafe” says he calls it like he sees it.

Shawn and Jada continue kissing on the couch and begin to undress.

Cat tells Chad that he doesn’t have to work with her and promises that Marlena will understand. Chad says they talked about this when she decided to stay in Salem. Cat says it’s one thing to live in the same town, but it’s entirely different to partner up on a project together. Chad acknowledges that what she did was hurtful, but he understands she did it to save her mother. Cat asks if he can look at her and honestly not see the person that pretended to be his dead wife and ripped his heart out all over again. Chad says he will get there. Cat hopes that he does, but says there’s another reason it could be incredibly weird to partner on this project. Chad guesses it’s because she said she had feelings for him and says that’s more of her problem. Cat questions it not being awkward for him. Chad asks if it should. Cat says she realizes now that working so hard to make him love her blurred the line. Chad asks if her feelings are gone then. Cat responds that she will get there. Chad decides that working together shouldn’t be a problem then and says it’s for a good cause, so they should just go for it.

Alex questions Stephanie about a guy being out there who looks exactly like Rafe. Stephanie explains that about 15 years ago, Stefano and EJ hired Arnold to get plastic surgery so they could use him to take over Rafe’s life. Stephanie adds that it worked for awhile but eventually he got caught. Alex asks if she thinks he’s back now. Stephanie says it would explain Rafe’s behavior, but the problem is that Arnold Feniger is dead.

“Rafe” tells Gabi that no dude will want to be anywhere near her with an attitude like this. Gabi says she’s trying not to bash him over the head with a pan because she loves him and believes something is seriously wrong with him. He blames her being all up in his business. She complains that he’s not making it easy. “Rafe” asks what exactly she thinks is wrong with him. Gabi admits she doesn’t know and says it could be a delayed reaction to his injury from the time in a coma and maybe it messed with his brain and changed his personality. “Rafe” remarks that he likes his personality and she’s just pissed because she can’t roll over him like she used to. Gabi insists that she’s not giving up on him and they will figure this out. “Rafe” asks what she’s going to do. Gabi responds that she’s taking him to the hospital so he can get an MRI on his brain, but “Rafe” refuses to go anywhere with her.

Kayla goes to see Marlena in her office. Marlena asks if there’s any news on the bankruptcy. Kayla says there’s a lot of talk. Marlena tells her that she may have some good news as her assistant may have a solution.

Chad suggests to Cat that they get some ideas down. Cat thanks him for agreeing to help out. Chad talks about being to his fair share of fundraisers and how they are mostly all boring, so Cat declares her first idea and rule for their fundraiser is to make it fun.

Shawn and Jada sit together after having sex. They acknowledge that happened while Shawn asks if she’s feeling okay about it. Jada says she thinks so and assures that he was great, but admits it was a little strange since she was going to be getting married a few weeks ago and thought she would be with Rafe for the rest of her life. Shawn guesses life doesn’t always work out how they planned. Jada knows it doesn’t make sense after what “Rafe” did to her, but she can’t help but feel a little guilty.

Alex questions Stephanie about Arnold being dead and asks what happened to him. Stephanie explains that Bo and Hope figured out he was posing as Rafe, so they arrested him, but then in prison, some of the other prisoners thought he was Rafe and beat him to death. Alex guesses it’s not Arnold pretending to be Rafe now then. Stephanie points out that they are talking about Stefano and EJ, adding that Arnold was about to testify against them and tell the world that they hired him but he got killed before he could testify and EJ walked away free. Stephanie adds that EJ just happens to be involved with all of this again. Stephanie says EJ hiring Rafe to dig up dirt on Jada never made sense to her, questioning why Rafe would ever investigate the woman he loves, unless it wasn’t Rafe because Arnold didn’t really die. Stephanie declares that it wouldn’t be the first time that the DiMeras faked someone’s death.

“Rafe” tells Gabi that she’s killing him. Gabi says she’s worried about him and she knows he doesn’t want to be in the hospital, but if something is wrong with him, they need to figure out what it is. “Rafe” responds that he feels fine. Gabi pleads with him and says if the tests come back clean, she promises to get off his back. “Rafe” responds that he doesn’t believe her and refuses to have his brain scanned. Gabi declares that she’s not taking no for an answer and that they are going right now. Gabi then opens the door right as Savannah arrives and announces she’s here for her date, telling “Rafe” that she’s sorry she’s late.

Cat asks Chad how to put the fun in fundraiser. Chad suggests asking his kids and brings up the idea of doing something that the whole family could be involved with, like a street fair. Cat says she loves it and recalls going to the fair with her sister Felicity. They discuss the idea of having a dunk booth with doctors and nurses. Chad insists that Marlena would be the first one to volunteer. Chad brings up Marlena previously being possessed by the Devil which shocks Cat.

Gabi questions what Savannah is doing there. Savannah tells her that “Rafe” wanted her to come over for some fun as he puts his arm around her. Savannah tells Gabi that she’s hot but she’s not in to threesomes. Gabi responds that she’s his sister and questions “Rafe” being with this person. “Rafe” asks what the big deal is and argues that he’s got needs. Gabi questions filling them with the stripper from his bachelor party. “Rafe” remarks that Jada made it clear she’s not interested because he exposed her for the fraud she is, so he is free to do whatever and whoever he wants. “Rafe” declares that right now, he wants to be with the beautiful Savannah. He asks Gabi for some privacy. Gabi tells him that this is not over and shouts that she doesn’t know who he is, but she wants her brother back as she storms out. Arnold tells Savannah that he’s sorry about that. She says she’s sorry he has to deal with such a drama queen of a sister. He says she’s always trying to tell him what to do. Savannah jokes that it’s hard to believe they are even related. Arnold then says he will tell Savannah a secret and reveals that Gabi is not really his sister.

Shawn tells Jada that she has nothing to feel guilty about and she has to live her life. Jada responds that she knows it’s definitely over with Rafe but calls it so hard to believe that things went from so great to so awful in such a short time. Jada wants Shawn to know this has nothing to do with him and says he’s been a really great friend, listening to her and letting her lean on him and other things. Jada says she’s not trying to make him feel bad for what just happened. Shawn assures that he doesn’t. They kiss as Jada thanks him. Shawn says he’s getting over a breakup too and he knows he really likes spending time with her. Jada responds that she likes spending time with him too. Jada then goes to take a shower.

Alex asks if Stephanie really thinks that EJ and Stefano faked Arnold’s death all those years ago. Stephanie says that they are more than capable of convincing people. Alex says that means Arnold could still be out there. Stephanie remarks that she’d never forget the feeling of Arnold putting his hands on her and the more she thinks about “Rafe” coming onto her, the more it seems like less of a coincidence. Alex asks if they should call the cops or tell the people who love Rafe. Stephanie suggests both at the same time and decides to call Jada.

Jada’s phone rings while she’s in the shower while Shawn is nearby but doesn’t answer it.

Kayla questions Marlena saying that Cat wants to hold a benefit to save the hospital. Marlena adds that it would get the word out and remind people of how much the hospital has helped everyone to get people involved. Kayla states that Stephanie could help get the word out about it. Marlena says that it would be all hands on deck and adds that Chad and Cat are brainstorming now. Kayla asks how Chad became involved. Marlena explains that they ran in to him in the town square and they talked about getting the Spectator involved. Kayla acknowledges how Chad could help but questions he and Cat brainstorming together. Marlena knows they have a complicated history. Kayla says if she was Chad, she wouldn’t want to be in the same space as Cat after what she did to him. Marlena asks if she’s surprised.

Cat questions Chad about Marlena being possessed by the Devil and can’t believe he’s serious. Chad knows it sounds crazy and says welcome to Salem. Cat doesn’t get it and asks what the Devil wanted. Chad says he wanted chaos and to destroy Salem and everyone in it. Chad adds that Marlena has a good sense of humor about it. Cat guesses that’s why everyone loves her. Chad then asks what if they put Marlena in a Devil costume for the street fair and the dunk tank, saying people would love to dunk the Devil.

Stephanie leaves a message for Jada to call her back, saying it’s really important that she talks to her. Stephanie says she will text her too and maybe go home so that she’s there when Jada comes home. Gabi storms in to the Pub and goes straight to the bar, questioning where the bartender is. Alex and Stephanie approach to ask if she’s okay. Gabi asks if it looks like she’s okay. Alex asks what’s going on. Gabi responds that she wants to punch her brother in the throat. Stephanie asks what happened. Gabi doesn’t even know how to describe what just happened. Gabi says “Rafe” was saying horrible things about Javi and told her she was being a bitch. Gabi says not to even get her started on his date which Stephanie questions. Gabi says she can’t even talk about it because this is not the Rafe that she knows. Gabi says Rafe has always been the sweetest, most loving and loyal person she’s known so she doesn’t know how he could turn in to this raging ass clown. Stephanie says they might know. Alex calls it just a theory. Stephanie says she needs to go talk to Jada but Alex will fill her in on everything. Stephanie exits the Pub while Gabi asks Alex what the hell is going on.

Jada comes out of the shower. Shawn tells her that her phone rang and then he goes to take a shower next. Jada listens to Stephanie’s voicemail.

Savannah questions Arnold saying Gabi is not his sister and if he was lying to her. Arnold then claims he was adopted. Savannah says that explains why they are so different. Arnold doesn’t want to talk about Gabi anymore and says he’s just glad she’s here. Savannah tells him that she missed him. Arnold says he was starting to think she wasn’t coming. She apologizes for getting held up. Arnold tells her that she was worth the wait. She comments on Rafe being sexy, but then he tells her to call him Arnold.

Cat tells Chad that he knows Marlena better than she does, but she can’t imagine presenting her with the idea of dressing her up as the Devil. Chad says point taken. Cat talks about Marlena taking a chance on her so she doesn’t want to disrespect her by bringing up a horrible time from her past. Cat adds that a whole devil thing might not be good publicity for the hospital. Chad laughs off that she is right and sometimes with a family like his, you forget how normal people see the world. Chad says they should focus on all the service that Marlena’s done and forgoes the dunk tank. Cat asks about the fundraisers Chad has gone to for ideas. They discuss holding an auction. Cat suggests auctioning dates for bachelors and bachelorettes which Chad acknowledges as a good idea.

Stephanie goes home where Jada says she just got her message as she was in the shower. Stephanie tells Jada that she needs to hear this but she doesn’t know where to start. Jada suggests the beginning so Stephanie informs her that “Rafe” made a pass at her. Jada calls it unbelievable and says she’s so sorry that Stephanie has been pulled in to this. Jada adds that she shouldn’t be surprised since she just found out that “Rafe” slept with the stripper from his bachelor party which shocks Stephanie. Jada says that Javi told her that “Rafe” admitted it to him and asks what kind of person does that. Stephanie calls that a good question that she wasn’t sure how to answer, but now she knows she’s right that “Rafe” isn’t Rafe.

Gabi questions Alex telling her that “Rafe” isn’t Rafe and asks what that even means. Alex reminds Gabi of Arnold Feniger. Gabi remembers that EJ hired him 15 years ago to steal Rafe’s life, but luckily he’s dead. Alex asks what if he’s not.

Savannah questions Arnold wanting her to call him that, arguing that his name is Rafe. Arnold says it is now, but claims before the Hernandez family adopted him, he was Arnold. She questions why they would change his name. Arnold claims they wanted him to be someone different to fit their plans and goals. Arnold remarks that no matter what he looks like on the outside, on the inside he’s Arnold and he really wants to be with her. Arnold asks if they are good. She says whatever floats his boat and calls him Arnold as they head to the bedroom.

Marlena tells Kayla that she realizes Cat did a terrible thing to Chad, but she hired her because she wants a fresh start and to make amends. Kayla guesses if Chad can forgive her, she deserves it. Marlena knows it’s what Cat wants and thinks back to Cat telling her about her feelings for Chad. Marlena hopes that it’s what Chad wants too.

Chad tells Cat that he will work on getting a plan together for the Spectator. They agree that they had a good start. Chad says he has to get home for dinner time. Cat says she should get home to Felicity too. Chad suggests they get together and work again soon. Cat says she would like that, so Chad says he’ll text her and see her soon as he walks away.

Arnold and Savannah come out of the bedroom. She thanks him for the afternoon delight. He says he should be thanking her and remarks that she wore him out. She wishes she could stay for round two but she has to shower and get to work. She tells Arnold to call her any time. Arnold says she can count on that as they’re just getting started. Savannah then exits.

Gabi questions Alex suggesting that Arnold could be alive and if it could be true. Alex points out that it would explain a lot. Gabi agrees that it would explain everything over the last few weeks. Alex says that’s what Stephanie thought too and she’s telling Jada as they speak.

Stephanie uses her tablet to show Jada a picture of Arnold Feniger looking exactly like Rafe. Jada points out that it says Arnold was killed in jail. Stephanie says if he wasn’t, EJ could be using him again in Rafe’s place. Jada asks if she thinks that’s possible. Stephanie calls it just a theory and points out that Jada is the cop here. Jada agrees that it seems plausible. Stephanie declares if it is true, that means it wasn’t Rafe who left Jada at the altar or who cheated on her. Shawn then comes out of the shower in just his towel, leaving Stephanie surprised.

Alex and Stephanie eat together at the Brady Pub. Alex says he has no room for dessert but Stephanie tells him that he has to have one special cupcake which Alex questions. Roman then brings out the cupcake, revealing it’s for Alex’s birthday.

Cat joins Marlena in her office at the hospital. Marlena asks her about Vancouver. Cat says she had amazing quality time with her mom and her brother, Aaron. Cat thanks Marlena for letting her go before starting as her assistant, but now she’s ready to dive right in. Marlena appreciates her enthusiasm but remarks that they both might be looking for a new job soon.

Leo goes to see Chad at the Horton house. Leo tells Chad that he went to the Spectator office but they said Chad was working from home today which he confirms. Leo asks about Chad getting his message about coming back to work at the Spectator. Chad responds that he doesn’t think it’s a very good idea.

Javi goes to work at Gabi Chic, joining Gabi in her office. Gabi blames Leo for Javi being late but Javi says he left with plenty of a time, then he happened to run in to Jada. Gabi asks how she’s doing. Javi responds that she’s not great, especially after the bomb he dropped on her.

Shawn finds Jada crying in the town square and asks if she’s alright. Jada says she’s not as she hugs Shawn. Shawn asks what happened and what Rafe did now. Jada responds that he cheated on her.

Roman wishes Alex a happy birthday as Alex tells Stephanie that he didn’t think she even knew when his birthday was. Stephanie admits that Bonnie tipped her off. Alex calls this a very sweet gesture. Stephanie tells him that it’s not over yet as she presents him with a birthday gift of cuff links shaped like arrows to remind him of his time as Arrow on Body and Soul. Alex asks how he could ever forget, pointing out if not for Body and Soul, they might not be together and that’s the best gift he could ask for. Alex thanks Stephanie and kisses her.

Shawn questions Jada about when Rafe cheated on her. Jada tells him it was the night before their wedding and that he was with the stripper from the bachelor party. Shawn can’t believe it and asks how she found out. Jada informs him that Javi told her.

Gabi tells Javi that there must be a mistake but Javi assures that he caught “Rafe” red handed on the day of his wedding. Javi explains that he saw Savannah the stripper in “Rafe’s” room with nothing but a towel on. Gabi asks why he didn’t say something sooner. Javi reminds her that he and Leo almost did at the wedding but the wedding was called off so they kept quiet as they figured it was pointless to pile on the drama, but when he saw Jada and she was so torn up about “Rafe”, he felt it was the right thing to do. Gabi questions when her brother became such a dirtbag.

Arnold sits at Rafe’s home and says he can’t believe he’s saying this, but he’s bored with porn and he needs the real thing. Arnold declares that he knows just who to call as he picks up his phone.

Cat questions Marlena about the hospital just closing. Marlena says Kayla is looking in to possibilities but to stay open, the hospital would need a large influx of cash. Cat suggests organizing a fundraiser.

Leo doesn’t understand why Chad doesn’t want him to come back to the Spectator. Chad explains that after the whole Kerry fiasco, he thinks it’s best to retire the Lady Whistleblower column. Leo agrees which confuses Chad. Leo explains that he wants to come back, but not as Lady Whistleblower, as he has always considered himself very versatile. Leo tells Chad that he wants to come back to the paper but as Chad’s newest ace reporter.

Javi tells Gabi that Rafe wasn’t always like this and asks when he turned in to a slimeball. Gabi says she’s as shocked as he is because she knows Rafe and he’s not usually a cheater. Javi asks if he’s done something like this before. Gabi brings up the time that Rafe cheated on Ava with Nicole, but that doesn’t count to her since Ava was a psycho mafia princess. Gabi then admits there was another time where Rafe slept with Sami while engaged to Hope. Javi is surprised to learn Rafe has done this before. Gabi explains that Rafe and Hope had a huge fight and thought they were over. Javi wonders if this was a blind spot for them and if Rafe has been a slimeball all along.

Shawn tells Jada that he’s not excusing what “Rafe” did but wonders if there’s an explanation. Shawn brings up that he did something sort of similar when he slept with Jada’s sister Talia while married to Belle. Shawn says he was in a bad place and made a really bad decision so he wonders if Rafe got really drunk and made a really stupid choice. Jada doesn’t think it was anything like that since Javi said “Rafe” tried to downplay it like it was no big deal with no remorse at all. Shawn tells Jada that he’s sorry and that she doesn’t deserve this. Jada thanks him for saying that. Shawn suggests getting Jada home so they walk off together.

Stephanie tells Alex that since Jada is still crashing on her couch, she thought maybe they could hang out at his place tonight. Stephanie offers to make him a birthday dinner which Alex says he would love. Alex asks Stephanie how Jada is holding up. Stephanie admits she’s a mess since she’s being falsely accused of corruption and “Rafe” isn’t even standing by her side. Stephanie says she’s itching to give Rafe a piece of her mind. Roman comes over and says he’s on the phone with Will, who wants to know if Alex has time for a birthday video chat with he and Sonny. Stephanie tells Alex to go ahead as it will give her a chance to have that conversation with “Rafe”. Alex says he’ll see her later as he exits the Pub.

Arnold calls Savannah the stripper and tells her that the wedding was called off so he’s single and ready to mingle. He invites her over so they can have some fun, noting that he has the house all to himself.

Marlena tells Cat that she’s not sure a fundraiser would raise enough money to save the hospital. Cat feels it would also rally public support and spread awareness, so it could attract the attention of people who could really help. Marlena likes the way she thinks. Marlena invites Cat to lunch so they can talk more about it.

Chad tells Leo that he doesn’t know about hiring him back, questioning if he has any real experience as a real reporter. Leo reminds Chad the article he wrote about Tom and Alice Horton. Chad calls that a one off. Leo insists that he’s capable of writing more than just salacious gossip. Leo remarks that he can’t be any worse than some of his current reporters. Leo asks Chad for a chance to prove that he can be a serious journalist. Chad then agrees to give it a shot. Leo excitedly hugs him.

Shawn brings Jada home to Stephanie’s apartment. Jada thanks him for getting her out of the town square so she doesn’t have to have everyone watch her break down. Shawn encourages that she’s a strong woman who has just been badly hurt. Jada appreciates him but says he should go because he’s done enough. Shawn refuses to leave her in this condition. Jada insists that she’ll be fine, saying she’s just going to listen to Adele and cry herself to sleep. Shawn feels that doesn’t sound like a good idea. Jada agrees and jokes that she’ll listen to Beyoncé instead. Shawn tells her that he has a shoulder to cry on if she wants as he comforts her. Jada admits it feels good and says she can’t help but feel that everything that’s happened is her fault which Shawn questions. Jada brings up that after her disaster of a marriage to Bobby, she promised herself that she would never let that happen again and be with a man who would treat her bad, but for some reason with Rafe, she missed all of the red flags. Shawn asks why she’s being so hard on herself when this is not her fault. Shawn says before this happened, everyone thought Rafe was a good guy so none of them could have saw this coming. Jada tells Shawn that last night, she wanted to kiss him but she stopped herself because of her love for Rafe even after he secretly investigated her and took her job. Jada declares now that she knows “Rafe” cheated on her, any feelings she had for him are dead, so she sees no reason to stop what they started last night. Jada then kisses Shawn.

Gabi tells Javi that she knows Rafe isn’t a saint, but she feels like something is off with his current behavior. Javi says it was like Rafe didn’t feel a thing. Gabi doesn’t get it since she knows Rafe had serious regret over hurting Hope and Ava and those relationships were rocky, but with Jada it was different as they were so good together. Gabi brings up the night they got engaged and they went out to Small Bar to celebrate. Gabi says she had never seen Rafe so happy. Javi states that clearly something has changed big time, but he wonders what could have caused it. Gabi says this may sound far fetched but she has a theory.

Stephanie goes to see “Rafe” and asks if he was expecting someone else. He claims he was expecting the pizza delivery guy. Stephanie says she’ll make it quick as she came to talk to him about Jada. She tells him that Jada is a total wreck and asks why he’s treating her this way. “Rafe” argues that he didn’t tell her to move out. Stephanie asks what she was supposed to do since he left her at the altar, took her job, and hasn’t defended her against the accusations. He argues that the mountain of evidence says she’s guilty. Stephanie says he knows Jada and that she would never do what she’s accused of. “Rafe” tells Stephanie that this is none of her business. Stephanie says it is, arguing that she cares about Jada and she knows he does too. Stephanie states that she just wants to help. Arnold asks if she wants to help, then grabs Stephanie and kisses her.

Alex finishes his video chat with Will and Sonny and tells Roman that they seem more happy and in love than ever. Roman agrees that they are doing great. Alex swears that Will and Sonny are like relationship goals. Roman points out that Alex is not doing too bad in that department since he and Stephanie are back together. Alex acknowledges that he’s a lucky guy. Roman hopes he remembers that since last time they were together, he hurt Stephanie badly, so he hopes this time, he will be more mindful of her feelings. Alex assures that he’s done a lot of work on himself and he knows Stephanie is amazing, so he swears that Stephanie will be treated with all the love she deserves.

Stephanie pushes “Rafe” off from kissing her and asks what the hell was that. He argues that he knows she’s Jada’s friend but she can’t deny that there’s heat between them. He tells her to give in to her desires, but she knees him in the groin and calls him a disgusting pig as she storms off.

Gabi tells Javi that Jada was wondering if “Rafe’s” behavior could be a delayed reaction to his coma. Javi wonders if that’s even possible. Gabi suggests convincing “Rafe” to see a doctor and get an MRI, so that maybe there’s a fix. Javi asks if she thinks he’ll go for that. Gabi responds that she won’t give him a choice. Javi comments that Rafe is lucky to have a fierce sister, always looking out for him. Gabi says he’s lucky to have him too. Javi doubts he’ll feel that way after he finds out that he blew his secret. Gabi encourages that he did the right thing. Javi says he loves them both and doesn’t want to mess it up. Gabi hugs Javi and tells him that she’s so grateful he’s here. Gabi remarks that she just wishes he wasn’t dating the devil.

Leo thanks Chad and says he can’t wait to start his first assignment. Leo throws out some ideas he has. Chad tells Leo that if he’s going to attempt to be a real reporter, he’s going to need to uphold journalistic ethics and standards. Chad thinks Leo will need to learn what those are. Leo promises to work day and night and that he won’t regret this.

Shawn wants to make sure Jada is not doing anything she might regret. Jada assures that she and Rafe are very much over. Shawn says he knows that but she’s upset and vulnerable. Jada assures Shawn not to worry about taking advantage of her because she knows exactly what she’s doing. Shawn asks if she’s getting back at Rafe. Jada admits there’s an element of truth to that but says she’s just trying to move on and she thinks Shawn is trying to too, unless he still has feelings for Belle.

Marlena and Cat have lunch in the town square. Cat suggests highlighting the personal impact of the hospital on the community, so they are hearing from real people about how they save lives. Chad arrives and jokes about always running in to Cat in the town square. Cat says she can’t get enough of the fries. Chad greets Marlena and questions them talking about the hospital. Marlena is sure Chad heard there’s a chance they might shut down. Chad says he’s sorry as there’s so many jobs that would be lost. Marlena tells Chad that Cat has some thoughts on it and invites Chad to join them so Cat can share her ideas with him.

Javi tries on a wig at Gabi Chic until Leo shows up and startles him. Leo jokes with him about the wig and then informs Javi that he just scored a new job as he hit up his old boss at the Spectator. Javi hopes he’s not dating Lady Whistleblower again. Leo assures he’s a real journalist now. Javi says he’s so proud of him. Leo jokes that he’ll get out of his hair now. Javi stops him and says there’s something he should know. Javi then reveals that after leaving his place this morning, he ran in to Jada and told her everything.

Shawn denies still having feelings for Belle and assures they are done, especially after they got in to a big fight when he confronted her about her relationship with EJ. Shawn says it’s clearly not just a fling and it’s not his business, but he still felt the need to warn her about it which she did not love. Jada points out that Belle is doing whatever she wants and “Rafe” is doing whatever he wants, so she doesn’t see why they can’t do whatever they want. Shawn admits there is a growing attraction but he wants to make sure they are doing it for the right reasons. Jada assures Shawn that he’s not just a convenient warm body and that they’ve had a connection ever since they were partners on the force. Jada says that Shawn being here through this whole mess is making her see him in a whole different light, so she really feels there could be something really special between them. Shawn admits that he feels the same and guesses she’s right that there isn’t anything holding them back. Shawn and Jada then continue kissing.

Arnold complains about Stephanie being a tease until Gabi comes home and asks what in God’s name is wrong with him as he cheated on Jada with a stripper. He questions how she found out. Gabi admits that Javi told her. “Rafe” argues that Javi broke the bro code. Gabi asks what the hell happened to him.

Stephanie returns to the Pub where Alex asks how it went with Rafe. Stephanie responds that he made a pass at her which shocks Alex. Stephanie explains that she gave him a piece of her mind and the next thing she knew, he was sticking his tongue in her mouth. Alex wants to go confront him but Stephanie stops him. Stephanie talks about how something has been bothering her about “Rafe”. Alex blames that on “Rafe” assaulting her. Stephanie tells him that she can’t help but feel a strange sense of deja vu. Alex asks what she means and if Rafe has hit on her before. Stephanie comes to a realization and asks what if it wasn’t Rafe.

Chad thinks a fundraiser is a great idea. Marlena acknowledges they have been very successful in the past. Cat adds that the Spectator could be a key sponsor of the event. Marlena gets a message and says she has to get back to the office. Cat offers to go with her but Marlena tells her to stay with Chad and brainstorm. After Marlena exits, Cat apologizes to Chad for being put on the spot like that. Chad asks what she means. Cat feels like she’s the last person in the world that he would want to be working with.

Alex asks Stephanie how it could not be Rafe. Stephanie explains that a long time ago when Rafe was with her cousin Sami, a similar thing happened. Stephanie says it was here in the Brady Pub and she was stressed about her love life, then she ran in to “Rafe”, who was very sympathetic, but then gave her a very inappropriate hug. Alex asks if she’s saying that Rafe has pulled this crap before. Stephanie says that’s the thing as she found out later that it wasn’t Rafe and it was actually Arnold Feniger.

“Rafe” tells Gabi to lighten up with the melodrama because he doesn’t need a lecture. Gabi asks why he’s being such a jerk. “Rafe” asks why she’s being a pain in his ass when she’s his sister and supposed to be on his side. Gabi asks why she would be on his side when Jada is her friend and he cheated on her which she calls a sleazy thing to do. “Rafe” remarks that she doesn’t have to be such a bitch about it.

Javi tells Leo that he told Jada and Gabi the truth about “Rafe” and asks if it was a bad idea. Leo calls it completely unfair of “Rafe” to ask him to keep the secret, making him an accomplice. Leo adds that Jada had a right to know. Javi brings up Jada being devastated. Leo gets that it’s really hard for him. Leo asks what Jada is going to do now that she knows the truth about “Rafe”.

Shawn and Jada continue kissing on the couch and begin to undress.

In the town square, Javi tells Jada that he hopes she doesn’t waste any more tears on Rafe, especially because there’s something she needs to know about him. Javi then reveals that “Rafe” cheated on her. Jada is shocked and argues that “Rafe” has done some messed up things but he would never be unfaithful to her. Javi says he knows and he didn’t want to believe it either. Javi says he knows it’s hard to believe as he didn’t want to believe it either, but he’s telling her the truth.

Rachel Blake sits with Rafe to go over the ground rules to eating his breakfast, saying no biting, spitting, or yelling and points out that no one will come anyway. Rafe mentions hearing a woman’s voice earlier. She laughs off that she definitely won’t be coming to rescue him and remarks that he’s not the only prisoner in this house. Rafe questions who else is there.

Brady and Steve arrive to the Blake house to find Ava. Brady removes the gag and tells Ava that it’s okay and it’s over. Ava tells him that he has no idea how happy she is to see him and asks how they found her. Brady explains that Steve was able to enhance the audio of her voicemail. Ava tells Brady that Rachel lured her there as part of her grand plan to keep them apart. Ava adds that Rachel knew Brady didn’t hear Ava’s voicemail, so she took her phone and sent Brady the text to make him think she went to China. Brady argues that Rachel couldn’t have done this alone. Ava reveals that Rachel did this with the help of her Grandmother, Kristen’s mother.

Rafe asks Rachel Blake who else she is holding here but she says that’s none of his concern. Rafe says she’s in way over her head and warns that when she is found, she will be facing serious prison time. Rafe urges her to be smart and let him go but she says she’s afraid she can’t do that because she made a deal with EJ DiMera that she intends to keep.

Kristen assumed her mail was something from DiMera that she was expecting, but now she thinks it might be exactly what she’s waiting for. Kristen opens the envelope, revealing a vial of liquid and declares here it is. EJ asks what it is. Kristen responds that it’s the answer to their prayers.

Brady doesn’t understand and says Kristen’s mother is dead. Ava informs him that she is here, creeping around the house. Ava insists that she’s not hallucinating. Brady says it has to be some kind of trick because Rachel Blake passed decades ago. Ava repeats that Kristen’s mom is alive and well and has been holding her hostage in this haunted house. Steve asks where she is now.

Rafe tells Rachel Blake that EJ is the scum of the earth and she can’t trust him. She responds that she has no choice. Rafe argues that she can let him go and he will help her get out of whatever mess she is mixed up in. Rafe doesn’t know what kind of deal she made with EJ, but guarantees that he won’t hold up his end because he’s just like his father, Stefano in every sense. Rafe calls EJ the second coming of Stefano as he’s just as ruthless and only out for himself. Rafe states that Stefano molded EJ in to his own twisted image.

EJ questions Kristen saying it’s the answer to their prayers and asks her to be more specific. Kristen informs him that after they talked last, she got in touch with Dr. Rolf. Kristen says they currently have two large problems at her mother’s house while Dr. Rolf may have once again saved the day. EJ asks what Dr. Rolf has cooked up for her this time. Kristen reveals that it’s called CRS-17 and calls it their miracle drug.

Belle enters the interrogation room at the police station where Shawn is on his laptop and asks if there’s something he can help her with. Belle says whatever he’s working on must be important because he didn’t even look up to say hello. Shawn responds that it is important as he’s trying to prove Belle’s new boyfriend framed Jada.

Jada questions Javi telling her that “Rafe” had sex with someone else the night before their wedding. Javi informs her that it was after the bachelor party. Jada demands to know who “Rafe” had sex with. Javi then reveals it was the stripper, explaining that he found them together when he went to help “Rafe” get ready at the Salem Inn on the day of the wedding. Jada tries to argue that it doesn’t prove anything but Javi informs her that she came out of the bathroom in a towel while “Rafe” tried to cover and claim nothing happened. Javi adds that he told “Rafe” he didn’t buy a word, so he eventually confessed. Javi says he doesn’t have words to explain it and repeats that he’s so sorry to Jada. Jada then questions Javi finding out about this on the morning of the wedding which was weeks ago and asks why she’s just hearing about this now.

Belle tells Shawn that normally, she would tell him that EJ is not her boyfriend but considering his mood, she’ll save them both the aggravation. Belle asks if Shawn has any evidence to back up his allegations. Shawn asks if she wants to go warn EJ. Belle shouts that she would never do that. Shawn tells her to calm down and admits he doesn’t have any proof that EJ set Jada up but it’s only a matter of time before he does. Belle argues that innocent until proven guilty applies to everyone including EJ. Shawn then accuses Belle of being biased because she can’t be objective about someone she’s having sex with.

EJ tells Kristen that he’s familiar with CRS-17. They talk about the drug causing memory loss. Kristen points out that if people were injected with it, they would forget why they were kidnapped, so if they use it on Ava and Rafe, then they are in the clear.

Rafe tells Rachel Blake that as soon as EJ gets what he wants, he will turn on her and that his word means nothing. Rafe insists that EJ will destroy her without a second thought and if she lets him go, he will make sure EJ goes down and will swear that she was forced to do this against her will. Rafe asks what she says.

Ava tells Steve that she is not crazy and that Rachel Blake was just there. Steve asks again where she is now. Ava doesn’t know and says maybe she saw them coming and flew off. Ava swears on Tripp’s life that Kristen’s mother has been holding her captive. Steve decides to go search the house. Brady tells him to be careful. Ava asks if Brady doesn’t believe her either but he assures that he does. Brady asks if she’s hurt. Ava says she will be okay. Brady questions Kristen’s mother doing this. Ava calls it insane and remarks that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with the Blake woman. Brady is mortified by his daughter’s role in all of this and says her Grandmother has obviously been a bad influence. Ava then informs Brady that Kristen was in on this too. Brady questions Ava saying that Kristen knew her mother was keeping Ava hostage. Ava explains that Kristen didn’t know at first and was shocked when she saw her mother. Brady asks how Kristen knew Ava was here. Ava explains that Kristen found her phone in Rachel’s backpack and put it together. Brady recalls when he and Kristen were supposed to take Rachel to therapy together, but Kristen went to get Rachel’s backpack and suddenly got a real bad headache and asked him to take Rachel by himself, so he bets she came here. Brady complains that he just talked to Kristen about this and she looked him dead in the eye and pretending to know nothing when she knew he was worried about her. Brady can’t believe Kristen saw Ava and didn’t help her out. Ava explains that Kristen wanted to at first, but her mother talked her out of it by saying she would go to the cops and that Rachel would get caught up in all of this, so Kristen walked out the door. Brady questions three generations of Blake women being responsible for Ava being kidnapped. Ava then reveals that EJ also knew she was there and didn’t raise a finger to help her.

EJ asks Kristen if CRS-17 only erases short term memory. Kristen says that’s all they need. EJ reminds her that when they were injected, they couldn’t remember why they were kidnapped but they did remember who did it. Kristen tells EJ that this is a stronger dose and Dr. Rolf assured her which EJ mocks. Kristen tells EJ that if he doesn’t like her idea, he can come up with a better one.

Belle questions Shawn saying she can’t be objective about EJ. Shawn says he’s just calling it like he sees it. Belle argues that his vision is clouded by his jealousy. Belle asks what happened to her personal life being none of his business. Shawn argues that she’s making it his business, complaining that his boss was fired due to accusations of being corrupt and the district attorney is turning a blind eye because she’s literally still in bed with EJ.

Kristen tells EJ that she didn’t think he had any better ideas. Kristen admits she doesn’t love the idea of relying on Dr. Rolf, but insists it’s their best shot of getting out unscathed since the only alternative is getting rid of the captives permanently. EJ says he doesn’t want to go that route. Kristen says they will ten inject Rafe and Ava before Brady and Steve find them.

Rafe asks Rachel Blake if she will help him or not. She says no because she has to think about her daughter and granddaughter. Rafe asks if EJ is threatening them but she says no more questions. Rafe insists that she tell him so he can get back to his family and the people he loves.

Jada questions why Javi didn’t tell her that “Rafe” slept with the stripper as soon as he found out. Javi insists that he wanted to but “Rafe” begged him not to. Javi says he hated every minute of keeping it from her. Jada points out that he did it anyway. Javi complains that “Rafe” was bullying him in to arguments, saying it wasn’t his secret to tell and what she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her and then he pulled the family card about family looking out for one another, so he promised to keep his mouth shut. Jada admits that she covered for her sister more than once, so she understands why he didn’t tell anyone. Javi then admits that he told Leo which upsets Jada, who worries that Leo will put it in his gossip piece. Javi assures that Leo would never do that and was just being a good friend in the moment. Javi says he was so torn, that when the ceremony started, he still didn’t know what to do. Jada realizes this is why Leo stood up when Paulina asked if anyone objected and admits that’s kind of considerate of him. Javi says he realized then that he had to tell her, but then “Rafe” stopped the wedding. Jada says every time that she feels like “Rafe” can’t do any more to hurt or humiliate her, he finds a way to prove her wrong.

Rafe tells Rachel Blake that he knows how EJ operates but she doesn’t have to go along with this and he can get her out of this. She tells Rafe that he talks too much and puts the gag back on him. As she exits the room, she runs in to Steve, who realizes Ava wasn’t seeing things.

Belle questions Shawn saying she’s still in bed with EJ. Shawn tells her that she can drop the act because he knows that she lied when she said sleeping with EJ was a one time thing. Belle says it wasn’t a lie at the time and questions why it matters to him since they are divorced. Belle argues that Shawn knows her and that she would never compromise a case over her personal life. Shawn responds that he thought he knew her but apparently not. Belle asks how Shawn knew that she and EJ are still seeing each other. Shawn reveals that Jada told him.

Javi tells Jada that he didn’t tell her this to add to her pain, but he thought knowing might help her get over Rafe. Javi calls the way “Rafe” treated her, shameful. Jada tells Javi about the dream she had about Rafe wanting her back. Jada says even after the outrageous behavior, she was still holding out hope that they would get through this, but it’s clear they are not going to get through it. Jada then declares that she and Rafe are over. Javi gets a text from Gabi needing him at the office. Jada tells him that he should go. Javi offers to tell Gabi that he’s running late but Jada insists that she’s fine. Javi hugs Jada as she cries.

Rafe struggles with being tied up.

Steve questions Rachel Blake hiding out in the attic. She responds that it’s her house and she will do what she wishes. She questions who he is and what he’s doing here, trespassing. Steve reveals that Ava is the mother of one of his sons and asks if she’s going to come willingly or if they have to do this the hard way.

Brady asks Ava how EJ figures in to all of this. Ava says she doesn’t know but he seemed genuinely surprised to find her. Ava says she first thought he was going to rescue her, but then he left. Brady calls EJ a bastard and wonders if this is his idea for revenge from what happened with Susan. Ava acknowledges that EJ hates her guts but thinks this had to do with Kristen’s mother since she asked to spoke to EJ outside. Ava says whatever she said to EJ must have turned him to her side because he never came back. Brady wonders what she could’ve said. Ava says he’ll have to ask her if Steve ever finds her. Steve then returns with Rachel Blake and announces he’s found her.

Belle asks Shawn why Jada would bring up her sex life to him. Shawn explains that he brought it up by telling Jada that he didn’t believe Belle saying her and EJ was a one time thing and she confirmed his suspicions. Belle asks how she did that. Shawn says that Jada figured Belle’s story about visiting Johnny at the DiMera Mansion wasn’t true and she was right. Belle remarks that she would think Shawn has bigger things to investigate than who’s bed she is sleeping in. Shawn questions how Belle could do it to Jada when she’s the one who went to bat for her with the mayor and recommended her for the district attorney job. Belle argues that he doesn’t know that EJ did that. Shawn calls EJ a vile, vindictive snake who will come after Belle next. Belle is sick of Shawn throwing around accusations and convicting a man with no evidence. Shawn complains that Belle knows he’s right that EJ is behind this. Belle says that Shawn just hates EJ and wants to blame him for everything. Shawn says when something goes wrong in this town, there’s a high chance that EJ is behind it or it’s his crazy sister.

EJ and Kristen go to the Blake house and are shocked to find that Ava is gone. They call out for Kristen’s mother but she’s gone now. EJ rushes out to go check on Rafe while Kristen wonders what is going on here and where everybody went.

Brady gets Ava set up at the hospital and checks on her. Ava says she’s fine and argues they don’t need to be here since she wasn’t hurt. Brady says he’d just feel better if she was checked out. Brady advises Ava to call Tripp so he knows she’s okay.

Belle and Shawn continue to argue until Steve walks in with Rachel Blake and asks them to book her for kidnapping. Belle asks who she is. Steve reveals it’s the Woman in White, Rachel Blake, and Kristen’s mother.

EJ is relieved to find Rafe is still tied up in the Blake house. EJ pulls out the needle. Rafe asks if that’s another sedative but EJ says it’s something quite a bit stronger. Rafe asks if he’s going to kill him. EJ says he’s simply going to wipe out his memories. EJ tells Rafe that he will give him one shot and he will forget this whole sordid affair. EJ goes to inject Rafe but Rafe grabs his arm and they struggle.

Shawn finds Jada crying in the town square and asks if she’s alright. Jada says she’s not as she hugs Shawn.

At the police station, Steve comments to Belle that Shawn took off pretty quick after booking Rachel Blake and asks if she wants to talk about it. Belle says they are just getting the hang of being divorced. Belle questions Rachel Blake being Kristen’s mother and holding Ava captive. Steve says he’s just glad that he and Brady got there before it was too late.

Ava calls Tripp and assures that she is fine. Ava finishes the call and thanks Brady for everything. Brady says he’s just grateful they found her. Ava worries about what Rachel Blake would’ve done, especially with Kristen and EJ’s help.

EJ and Rafe continue to fight over the syringe as Kristen rushes in to try and break it up.
