THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

how can the state department have no record of my birth? That’s just…wrong. I mean, I had a copy of my birth certificate until I lost it. Ugh, this is a bureaucratic nightmare.

[ Sighs ] Okay, let’s just — let’s just hope my mom can find her copy, so I don’t have to prove that I was born in the U.S. What? No, I just… look, harmony’s been putting you off about your birth certificate. I mean, could it be that she just doesn’t have it? You mean, could it be more than a clerical error? My mom’s hiding something about my birth. Maybe that’s why she’s been so evasive. So she’s been lying to me this whole time. Not to sound distrusting, but I knew there was something that you weren’t telling me. I’m sorry. I’ve kept this secret for my daughter’s entire life, so, uh… it’s hard to just come out and say it. This is a safe place. Harmony, you can talk to me. The reason why I can’t tell willow that I forged the birth certificate is because… …I’m not her mother. Do you remember me? I’m your mimi.

[ Chuckles ] Can I hold her? Of course. Hi. Hello. Hey.

[ Chuckles ] Oh. Ahh! I was so happy to get your text! Oh, hi. It’s so good to see you. You, too. You, too. Hasn’t been that long, though. I know, but I’m still getting used to you not living at home, so cut me some slack. Well, you’re not living at home, either. No, I’m not. Are you okay? I’m fine. I don’t want you to worry about me, okay? Well, it’s kind of hard not to when you’re here and not with avery and donna. Well, I saw them this morning for breakfast. I know. Avery told me… right before she asked when you’d be home to stay. Hey. There she is. Happy day-after-valentine’s day. Mm. Curtis, I am so, so sorry. Oh, stop.

[ Sighs ] Look, you’re a doctor. You were — you were needed. You know? And besides, we can still celebrate. Oh. What’d you have in mind? Well… that would depend on what the rest of your evening looks like. Well, barring another emergency, I am off the clock for the next 32 hours. Well, then how do you feel about a quiet evening in? What do you mean by quiet? Okay, let me rephrase that. No, I’m kidding. I would absolutely love some private time. So where you want to go? Want to go to my place? Your place? What if there was another option? She didn’t pick up. I guess I’ll just have to track her down after class. Hey, look, paris isn’t going anywhere. There’ll be other trips. I know, I know. And, honestly, this isn’t even about the passport anymore. I think you’re right. I think my mom’s been keeping something from me. But I can’t dwell on that right now. I have to get to the hospital. I don’t want to be late. I love you. I love you, too. And we’ll get to the bottom of this, okay? I promise. Okay, okay.

[ Sighs ] Have you seen your mother? No. Okay, I need to find her before she does something we’re both going to regret.

Louise, you have no idea how happy this makes me. And just wait until grandpa mac sees you. He’ll be putty in your hands. Yeah. Thank you so much for taking such good care of my granddaughter. Except when peter kidnapped her. Oh, well, all that matters now is that she’s here and that you’re safe and that your mommy’s gonna be home very soon, right, louise? Hmm? You may want to give her some time with that name. She’s really used to being called bailey. Oh, okay. But I can tell you’re one smart cookie. Aren’t you? Just like your mama.

[ Chuckles ] Um, okay, so what else? When she rubs her ears, it means she’s ready for a nap. Oh, okay, good to know. Um, she usually sleeps through the night, but it may take her some time in a strange… in a new place. Yeah, it just took a few nights at the beach house, but… yeah, she got it, though. Um, but if — if she’s ever upset, you could just give her mr. Snuggles. Oh, mr. Snuggles? Yeah, that’s her stuffed doll. It’s — it’s a sure thing. Thank you. Thank you. I can tell how hard this is for both of you. But I want you to know, I-I promise you that she’s going to be well taken care of. We know she will. Well, I’m gonna take her home to our place after she visits with mac, and then we’ll get you all settled in, and then you can come and visit any time you want. I mean that. Thank you. Okay. Okay. I-I should go. Make sure she’s taken care of. Yeah, good call. Um, hey, kiddo. Kiddo. See you later, okay? Why don’t you start from the beginning? Uh, okay. Douglas and I, uh, used to live on a commune in colorado. Right. I knew that. Yeah. It was called friends of peace and love. It was led by the prophet josiah. Um, this pregnant woman named joan joined our community, and she and i became friends. And about a week after she gave birth, I woke up one morning and joan was gone. So she left the baby there. Josiah said that god wanted douglas and me to raise the little girl as our own. And so you did. Who was i to question god? I’m not trying to put you on the spot, mom. I just feel like a bad big sister when I can’t answer avery’s questions. Oh, I’m so sorry. Okay, so what do I tell her? You tell her the truth. Which is? You don’t know what I’m coming home. Well, do you know? Talk to me. I thought you weren’t gonna put me on the spot. Yeah, well, I’m not a little kid anymore. I can handle it. I know you can. I know you can. I’m worried. Don’t worry, okay? Don’t worry about me. Well, mom, it’s — it’s a little late for that, okay, because I watched you, for months, fight for our family, and then when sonny came home, what was supposed to be this happy celebration and reunion turned out to be a bunch of lies and cover-ups. And I do not blame you for leaving, but this all must be so hard on you, and I need to make sure that you have somebody to lean on, especially now that jason’s gone. I’ve been looking for a new place, and now that aunt stella’s recovered from her stroke, she doesn’t need me around so much. So I was gonna give her my place, and then, that way, we could have some much needed privacy. Well, that’s — that’s very generous of you. I mean, yeah, yeah, you have to do what’s best for you. Well, it’s not what’s best for me. It’s what’s best for us. Okay, w-what are you saying exactly? I’m saying that whatever place I find, I want it to belong to both of us. What do you think that mom’s gonna do? I’ve been calling her. She’s not getting back to me. You would think she’d be in the suite or in the office at this time of day, right? Well, what’s the urgency? What, is this about the — the surprise that you planned? ‘Cause I heard it did not go very well. What’d your mom say? Nothing. Just, when I asked her about it, she said she didn’t want to talk about it, which, obviously, is not a good sign, so what — what happened? I screwed up, michael. And because of that, your mom’s hurt, she’s angry, and I just don’t want her to do something worse. Like what? Hire a divorce attorney. Divorce? You know what? I need to get to your mom, let her know that it’s too much too soon. We can get through this. Dad, last time I talked to mom, she didn’t say anything about a divorce. She said she needed some time to think. Right, but that was before she f-found me with nina.

nina: Hey, brook lynn, listen, do you want to maybe sit down for a second or have a drink of water?Yeah, I think that’s a great idea. No, I-I don’t want to sit down. I just — I-I want to get out of here. Where the hell is this elevator? It must’ve been excruciating, saying goodbye to bailey, especially with maxie missing. Yeah, I-I-I’m worried about maxie, okay? It was always the plan to give bailey back to her family, so we did it, right? So, yay, we should be celebrating. Brook lynn. Is this for real? I want to put this out there. If you need to talk to anyone, call me. Thank you. I-I don’t think that will be necessary.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Finally. I got this. Willow. Is something wrong with wiley? I miss jason so much, and if I’m feeling that way

[Sighs] I can’t imagine the pain you’re in. It’s a lot, you know? I mean, losing jason when I need him the most feels like a cruel joke. Well, you still have me. And that means everything. It does. But I don’t want you worrying about any of this. I want you focusing on your life at college and all the amazing experiences that come with that. I do. And we haven’t even got a chance to talk about what happened at the cabin and why you guys came back so early. Oh, well, that would be thanks to esme. Oh, my gosh. Are you serious? Sit down. Sit down. Oh, I’m super serious. Tell me, what did she do now? Oh, let’s see. She made hot toddies. She insisted we play the world’s most cringeworthy game of “never have I ever.” Okay. She manipulated trina, oh, and — and she, uh — she implied that trina and cameron were in love and that I stole him. Well, that’s a lot. It is a lot. I mean, I called her out on it and she called a car and she and spencer headed back to port charles that same night. Well, I’m sure it was a relief to have esme gone but a bummer that spencer had to leave. It is a bummer. Spencer…

[ Chuckles ] You know, he can be a bit of a pain, and he’s always been a little spoiled and entitled, but he has some really decent qualities, and he can be a really good friend, just not around her. He is so far under her thumb. I mean, it’s like the girl invented sex. It’s just really disappointing that he can’t see through her, and he falls for her games every time. I know what you mean. What was nina doing at the haunted star? I guess she was, you know, worried about me, so she wanted to see if I was okay. She couldn’t just, what, call you? She had to check on you in person?

[ Chuckles ] She showed up, michael, I was in a bad, bad way ’cause I thought your mother had given up on us, and then things happened. “Things”? Yeah, things. You want to clarify “things”? No, I — no, not really. Okay, so hold on. Let me get this straight here. So — so mom eventually did show up for your surprise, but it wasn’t the surprise that you planned. How could you do that to mom? Because I thought she was walking away from the marriage, michael. So you just turned around and had sex with somebody else? I didn’t meant to hurt your mom. How did you think that she’d feel? Do you think I wanted her to walk in on us together? It’s — it’s not bad enough that you cheated on mom. I mean, that’s disgusting. But to do it with nina, the woman who — who kept you from your family for months? It’s complicated. No, no, not really, dad. Yeah, it’s comp– no, no, no. Not really. Because you basically blew past your wedding vows without taking a backward glance to sleep with a woman who’s done nothing but lie to all of us. I mean, you make this big damn deal about loyalty, and — and you have sex with the woman who basically held you hostage. How could you be so stupid? Watch it! Yeah?! Or else what?! You’ve had quite a life so far, did you know that? Yes, because you come from a long line of adventurers, so that shouldn’t be a big surprise. And survivors. And, you know, there’s no greater survivor than your mommy. And your mommy’s gonna come back home soon, I promise you. But in the meantime, you have me, and you have grandpa mac.

[ Chuckles ] Mac: Felicia?

[ Chuckles ] Hi! Look who’s here. Hey. Look who’s been waiting for you. Do I get a smile? That is enough about esme. I’m worried about you, and I don’t want you to go through this alone, so please let me help you. You do help me. You do. I mean, whenever I’m having a hard time, all I have to do is see the woman you’ve become, and it makes me so proud. I mean, from a tiny ear of corn to this. Oh, my corn phase, I’ll never live it down. Nope, never, never. But adult or not, it’s not up to you to answer avery’s tough questions. I’m sorry. You’re not coming home any time soon, are you? My marriage to sonny is over.

I’m still your father. Show some respect. Like you showed mom respect? What do you want from me? A little bit of — a little bit of decency. That’d be nice. Okay, I’m gonna tell you what happened. I asked your mother to show up at the haunted star, and if she didn’t show up, that meant to me that she wanted out. And then kristina showed up and said to me… what? Kristina? …Carly’s not showing up. What do you mean? Kristina? It’s a long story. Okay, dad [Sighs] First of all, ultimatums — not romantic. T-that’s where we’re at, michael. What do you want — secondly, mom did show up. And third, even if she didn’t, even if she bailed on you completely, that does not give you the green light to sleep with somebody else. You know what, michael? This is between me and your mother. Yeah, and nina. And I got to stop your mother before she files for divorce. Dad, you know what? Honestly, she should file for divorce because you clearly chose nina over her. That is not what happened, michael. I need to find your mother. I can’t waste any more time here. The story I told you of willow’s birth was true. Just, you didn’t actually give birth. Joan gave birth on the commune. No doctors, no hospitals. Um, and since josiah didn’t recognize the authority of the U.S. Government, I mean, the thought of a birth certificate, to him, meant nothing. But what about you?

[ Sighs ] I didn’t care about that. I had this new… little life to nurture. Weren’t you worried that joan would come back and claim the baby? Yeah. Yeah, we thought about it all the time. We… first, it was just curiosity, but then that turned to dread. When douglas and i just fell more in love with the little girl, when willow was about 2, we couldn’t stand the thought of losing her. So, um, we left the commune. We left colorado all together. Never looked back. Well [Clears throat] That’s quite a story.

[ Sighs ] You think I’m awful. No, harmony, I don’t think you’re awful. I think there was an abandoned baby, and you and your husband loved her and you nurtured her, and, under those circumstances, it was understandable. Joan didn’t — didn’t tell you who the father was? And douglas went and paid the forger for the birth certificate, and then that was it. Willow was ours. But not in the eyes of the law. Willow: Wiley’s fine. Just here for my nursing class. Oh, yeah, of course. Silly me. I-I completely forgot. How — how’s it going? It must be quite a change going from teacher to student. There’s a lot less construction paper and glue, that’s for sure.

[ Chuckles ] Is something wrong? No, it’s just, I saw brook lynn and chase hand over bailey to felicia. Brook lynn, she plays it tough, but it must be killing her to say goodbye to that baby. There’s nothing harder. Of course. Well, I should — I should get to my class. Willow, wait. I’m sorry. Just — just one second. Um, we talked before about the possibility of me having a relationship with wiley if I kept the peace with me, sonny, and carly. That’s right. But what if there’s no chance of peace? Will I ever be able to see my grandson again? Dad and olivia must’ve straightened up. Yeah, that was nice of them. Yeah. Do you want to — pack your things? It’s a good idea. My things? Well, there’s no reason for us to be living together anymore, so soon you’ll be leaving, too, right? Can you believe she’s been underour noses this whole time?

[ Monitor beeping ] Maxie must’ve been going insane to be so close to her daughter and so far away at the same time. It just feels so wrong to be here like this without her. We’ll find maxie. I know we will. And peter will answer for everything that he’s done. What did sonny do? I’m not gonna get into details, okay? But let’s just say sonny showed me in no uncertain terms that our marriage means nothing to him. Does this have to do with nina? Something happened. Something happened with nina. My god. Did you see them together? You could say that. Were they…? Oh, mom.

[ Scoffs ] You’ve got to be kidding me. How — how could sonny do that? What a piece of — okay, josslyn — and nina, nina acting all contrite and innocent. My god, she’s a monster. She’s literally out to get our family. I know, and I’m never gonna underestimate nina ever again, but sonny is responsible for his actions. Yeah, of course he is.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

[ Sighs ] Is that sonny? No, it’s michael.

[ Sighs ]

[ Knock on door ]

Can you understand why I didn’t tell willow that she wasn’t my daughter? I believe that, in your eyes and in your heart, you believed she was your daughter… regardless of biology or the law. If it was a legal adoption, that would be totally different. We would’ve had that discussion, but I just — I didn’t know how to explain it to her, and I didn’t want to lose her, which — which is ironic ’cause that’s exactly what happened. But you have a relationship with her now. Thankfully, yeah, and we’re starting to rebuild, but you know that it’s still fragile, and — and I’m just scared that this news will completely shatter it. Was douglas the one that bought the fake document, right? Yeah, we decided together, but he was the one who went and met with the forger. Does that matter? It may give us a little wiggle room. Really? You think willow doesn’t have to know? I didn’t say that. You’re kicking me out? Don’t be so dramatic. Then why would I leave? Look, we both know you’re only here for bailey. Oh, my god. Mr. Snuggles. How can I let her — we have to go to the hospital. Wait, wait, we don’t even know if they’re still there. Well, we have to try. Then let’s call felicia and just — we don’t want to waste a trip. Some mother I am, letting bailey go without her favorite toy. She must be feeling so scared. She must be so lost without her. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s gonna be okay. You’re gonna be — you’re gonna be okay. I don’t know how to do this, chase. Tell me how to do this. I wish I could. Shh.[ Louise crying ] Your mimi’s here, louise. Maybe she’s hungry. No, chase said she wouldn’t be. Not yet. Dirty diaper? I checked. Come on. Felicia, why don’t you take her home? No. A hospital’s not a restful place for anyone, especially a baby. It’s not about the hospital, mac. She doesn’t know us. As much as we love her, we’re strangers to her. She needs her mother. Or the closest thing to it. Can we talk, please? Can I call you later? Are you sure? I’m sure. And thank you for your support. I love you. I love you, too. If looks could kill. Can you blame her? You didn’t tell her? Did I tell my daughter that I saw you in bed with another woman? No, I didn’T. But josslyn figured it out, because unlike you, josslyn sees nina for the snake she is. Why are you here? To stop you from making a huge mistake. Are you asking me to move in to your place with you? As soon as I can find one. But, technically, it wouldn’t be my place. It would be our place. Our place. Yeah. Then maybe we could look for a place together. We could find a place that we both like, and then it would belong to both of us. So is that a yes to us moving in together? That’s a yes. That’s a definite yes.

[ Giggles ]

I’m so glad you were here and not across town or something. Yeah, me, too. You okay? No. Not really. The tension was unreal when sonny showed up. Yeah, no surprise there. Yeah, it was all I could do not to lose my mind on him. Sorry. No, no, no. Don’t apologize. I’m — I’m pissed at my dad, too. Oh, did sonny admit to you that he cheated on mom? Tried to justify it, of course. Right, the way he justifies nina letting us believe he was dead. How is this happening? Is sonny just a completely different person now? Completely? No. But — but his time in nixon falls really changed him. Well, not for the better. I mean, he and mom have split up before, yes, but this is different.

He is different. It’s like he doesn’t even care about mom’s feelings or what she’s been through, but he’s super worried about nina. I mean, he went from protecting her to sleeping with her. And nina, with all her fake remorse and wanting to make amends, which lasted right up until she got into bed with sonny. I mean…how could she? I don’t know, joss. Well, it doesn’t matter what she says or how many times she insists it’s not true. Nina wanted to tear our family apart. She wanted to take sonny away from mom, and she’s not gonna stop until she gets what she wants. It’s been painfully clear that carly and i can’t coexist peacefully, so I was just wondering, where does that leave us? Is there something that I can say or do to convince you to let me stay in wiley’s life despite that? Honestly, nina — because I-I don’t — I don’t really have much family, and — or children to speak of, so if I lose that piece of my life — I understand the importance of family. And I can tell that you do. And I’m not just saying that to win you over. I’m not. It’s obvious that you put a lot of thought into what’s best for wiley, because if you didn’t do that, you wouldn’t let me spend time with that little boy at all. Actually, it’s pretty simple. I just want my son to grow up never doubting that he’s loved. Be nice if we all had that, right? From what I gather, you had a pretty… unconventional childhood. Yeah, that’S… that’s putting it mildly. There were times that I — I felt so lost. And you would think that would get better as I got older, but…

[ Sighs ] Anyway, it is what it is, right? Yeah. When I was growing up, my mother was not the warmest person. She valued appearance over real feelings. If I didn’t have my brother, j, I would have felt very much alone. Well, for me, it wasn’t so much loneliness. In the commune, there were always people around. It was more that my mom was so wrapped up in the community she couldn’t be bothered with me. And when we were actually together, she was way more focused on me being a good follower. You know, she didn’t really know who I actually was. I hear you. My mother used to trot me out at parties like I was some kind of show dog. But if you asked her anything meaningful about me, like my hopes, my dreams, or just my favorite color, she wouldn’t know how to answer that. It’s really hard, isn’t it… …growing up with a mother who you think doesn’t care about you at all. And even harder when you know that you can’t trust her. Pushing me is a bad idea. I’m not — I’m not pushing. Can I — can I just talk to my wife? Don’t call me that. Don’t call me your wife. Carly, come on. No, you don’t treat me like a wife, so you don’t get to refer to me as one. Well…

[ Sighs ] I’m sorry that you found me with nina. I mean — but you’re not sorry that it happened. No, I’m sorry for all of it. Okay, I don’t want to talk about nina, so if we’re gonna talk about nina, I can’t do it. Okay, I just want to know what happens next. What do you mean next? With the day? You mean life? It’s divorce, sonny, come on. Really? That’s what you want. Yes.

[ Chuckles ] I think it’s a little late to, uh, care about my feelings, don’t you? I know that you’re angry — I’m beyond angry. I am furious, and I’m heartbroken, and I am disgusted, and all I want to do is hurt you the way you hurt me. Yeah, I understand that. You understand that. Well, thank you so much for understanding. Thank you. I appreciate that. So nothing I say can make this right? What are you doing here? What? You met with a divorce lawyer. Are you spying on me now? No, I’m not spying on you. You put it on the shared calendar.

[ Sighs ] So do me a favor, do not hire a lawyer. Let’s talk. No. We’re not gonna talk. Okay, maybe I’m not only crying over mr. Snuggles. Get out of here. I always knew she’d go back to her real mom. I mean, I know I’m not her real mom, obviously. Then why is this so hard? Because you may not be her real mom, but you were her mom in every way that counts. You — you love her. So much. It is really hard to say goodbye to somebody that you love. I don’t want to do that anymore. Then don’T.

[ Doorbell rings ]

[ Door opens ] Chase: Felicia.

There are other ways to acquire a birth certificate, other ways to show proof of — of identity for willow, but we are way beyond that right now. I know, I know. I just don’t want to imagine willow’s face when she realizes that I’ve lied to her again. We just started to get our groove back, you know? I get that. I treasure the bond I have with my daughters, but the way that I see it, you have two choices. Harmony, you either come clean with all of your lies and you ask willow for your forgiveness, or you continue to deceive her. No, I don’t want to do that. I didn’t think so. I just have this sinking feeling that willow is not gonna forgive me for this one. Alright, listen to me. Till now, you have been her mother. You have loved her. You’ve nurtured her. You’ve tried to protect her. Well, that last one is, uh — it’s very debatable. You’ve made some mistakes. Many. But you have turned your life around and you are trying to do better. Now, if that is still your intent… it is. …Then do what’s best for willow and tell her the truth. I’m sorry your relationship with your mother was so fraught. Yeah, me, too. It’d be nice to look to her as an example for how to best be a mom to wiley. Michael doesn’t get it. He’s so close to his mother, to both his parents. He doesn’t have the same doubts that I have. You don’t — you don’t need an example, willow. You’re a wonderful mother to wiley. So much so, I venture to say the example is you. Mac and I decided that, until maxie comes home, it would be best if louise was around the people that were familiar to her, namely the two of you. I-I don’t understand. Don’t you want her with you? Oh, yes, yes, I do. More than anything in the world. But this is not about me. This is about louise and what she needs, and, right now, I’m looking at it. I don’t know what to say. Thank you for having faith in us. Yeah, thank you so much. Thank maxie. She trusted you with her daughter, which means mac and I can do the same. Well, now it’s my turn to tell you, please come visit any time, really.

[ Voice breaking ] I’ll definitely come back. See you soon. Say bye-bye to mimi. Say bye-bye. See you soon. I love you. Bye-bye. Bye-bye. Bye. Thank you. Bye. Bye. Hi. Oh, oh.

[ Door closes ]

[ Sighs ] Hey, bailey. Bailey. Have you been missing someone? Oh, reunited with mr. Snuggles at long last. Okay, it’s been like two hours. Like I said, at long last. Looks like I’ll be sticking around after all. I guess so. Wow. I-I can’t even believe this is actually happening.

[ Chuckling ] Oh, god. Curtis: Unless you’re already having second thoughts. No, no, this right here is the opposite. I feel like I’m — I feel like I’m dreaming. I really do. I feel like I’m gonna wake up in the on-call room and realize that none of this actually happened. No, baby, this is happening. We are moving in together just as soon as we can find a place. But why do we even need to wait? What you think about this? What do you think about moving into my place while we search together for our new place together? I think that sounds exactly right. Oh, what about trina? Is she gonna be okay with this? Trina wants us to be happy. And you know what? She’s beginning her own adult life. And in some ways, after solely focusing on raising her, I’m beginning mine again, too. And you’re sure you don’t feel like I’m rushing you into this? When something feels right, there’s no need to waste any time. So, that’s it? You say we’re done, we’re done? Pretty much. Can we just — if we just talk, carly, we can really work through this. There is nothing to talk about. You made your choices, so I get to make mine, and I just want this over with. I know what you walked in on hurt you, and I’m sorry. I don’t — stop saying you’re sorry. No, I didn’t — I don’t need to hear that. But I didn’t mean it like that, carly. Sonny… …it’s over. We’re over. Okay, I’m gonna — I’m gonna leave you alone… for now.
