[Steffy clearing throat]
Steffy: Can we get in on this family reunion?
Thomas: Hey, mom.
Taylor: Thomas! Oh my gosh! Thomas! Sweetheart.
Thomas: It’s me.
Taylor: It’s really you.
Thomas: I missed you.
Taylor: I’ve missed you too. Sweet boy, oh my!
Brooke: I think ridge knows what it takes to hold the family together. It may not always be possible, but if you have enough grace and enough forgiveness, I think that you can get through anything.
Katie: But do you really think that ridge can forgive deacon and accept him into the family?
Brooke: Oh, I certainly hope he can. Because I love my husband. And I also want to support my daughter, and I hate seeing them at odds. And I just… I don’t want to think what could happen to my family if ridge doesn’t accept deacon in it.
Deacon: So, being a rat in prison can get you killed. But I’m going to tell you about one that could save your life. R.A.T., Rapid assault techniques. These are quick, explosive moves, overpowering. Powerful, effective. No nonsense. Just like you, kid. Okay, so for instance, you can do a spearhead to the larynx, disrupt the oxygen flow. Follow it up with an elbow strike to the nose. Wait, did somebody not pay the electric bill because it’s lights out?
Hope: Um, okay? Can you show me something even flashier?
Deacon: Um, yeah, sure. Okay, uh, here, I’ll show you a spinning back fist, okay? Okay. One, two three. Okay?
Hope: Now that is what I’m talking about!
Deacon: All right. All right, now it’s your turn, hotshot, let’s see it. Focus. Yeah, pretty good. Yeah, that’s good. Make sure your elbow comes around first. See the target. Boom. There you go. Excellent.
Hope: You make it seem easier than it actually is. I guess I just need to take more time.
Deacon: All the best things take time.
Hope: Okay.
Deacon: So, I-I’m curious, what got you into self-defence?
Hope: Well, I don’t know, dad, maybe it’s in my dna.
Deacon: No, I’m serious. Nobody’s bothering you, right?
Hope: Oh, no, no.
Deacon: Okay.
Hope: I mean, I’ve always taken workout classes, like pilates and weightlifting, but something about martial arts, I just keep coming back to it. It gives me confidence.
Deacon: Well, you’ve already got a ton of that.
Hope: I just, I think it’s important as a woman to feel strong and secure not only just in the class, but also out in the world and, and in my work.
Deacon: Yeah, I mean, it gives you an edge, right? Precision, focus.
Hope: I like knowing how to defend myself. But what about you? How do you… hold back?
Deacon: Oh. You’re talking about ridge. Ah, well, I guess the student acts on impulse and desire, and the teacher has the discipline not to. All right. Let me see what you got. Give me that thing.
Hope: Oh gosh. Okay.
Deacon: I want to see your very best spinning back fist. All right, ready?
Hope: Okay.
Deacon: Let’s do it. Yeah, that’s good, one more time. You got it. Don’t get dizzy. Oh, nice. Very nice.
Hope: Getting there. Ah.
Brooke: Hope and deacon are bonding.
Katie: I know you want to be supportive of your daughter, but ridge’s attitude is making that complicated.
Brooke: It shouldn’t be. Every child deserves to know their parents. And I was skeptical when deacon came back into town, I thought maybe he would have ulterior motives, but I haven’t seen anything like that from him.
Katie: But ridge has?
Brooke: I think he’s just trying to be protective.
Katie: Because of what happened with you and deacon before, when he was married to bridget?
Brooke: He can’t seem to get past it. And it hasn’t been an issue for us for a long time, and now…
Katie: Well, deacon is back. He’s a constant reminder of the affair.
Brooke: Yeah. And I don’t want the past to be painful for my husband. I just love him too much. But I’m certainly not going to deny my daughter the right to have a relationship with her father just because ridge doesn’t approve.
Taylor: I can’t believe we’re all in the same room.
Ridge: It’s a beautiful sight.
Taylor: Video chat is awesome but this is so much better. Look at you!
Steffy: Mom’s going to ask about the hair.
Taylor: Okay, I’m not now. You look very handsome,
Thomas: Thank you.
Taylor: Yes, ah! Both my kids healthy and happy.
Thomas: Well, you look great too, doesn’t she, dad?
Taylor: Okay, well, your father already told me, I look hot.
Ridge: What makes you– I’m not opposed to saying it again. Yes, you look hot as ever.
Thomas: There you go. These little cups would make
Hope: Yes, so, I’ve dabbled for a while, but then I would get busy and I’d have to cut back and I’d get out of practice.
Deacon: But it seems like you always find your way back to it.
Hope: Well, yeah. Now that beth is older-
Deacon: You have more time.
Hope: And a motivation. You know, I want her to see me as an empowered woman and self-assured and able to handle any situation and set a good example.
Deacon: That’s exactly what I want for you. I think that’s what any good parent would want. Unlike me, but-
Hope: Dad, I didn’t mean-
Deacon: It’s cool. Look, your kids, they absolutely look up to you. You’re an amazing mother.
Hope: Thanks. Well, I work at it. It’s kind of like this, what you talked about. Like with your form, with a kick, it might be difficult at first, but then you do it over and over and over and over again, and then it just becomes… natural.
Deacon: You think that’s what it takes to be a good parent?
Hope: I do.
Deacon: Well, maybe there’s hope for me, after all. You know, martial arts is, well it has been one of the few constants in my life, even in prison. Yeah, not trying to sound like a tough guy, but it saved my butt a couple of times. I just never thought that it would bring us closer together.
Hope: Well, it’d be great if it did.
Deacon: Yeah.
Hope: So, are you going to show me some more moves?
Deacon: Nothing would make me happier. But first, I want to see your best move, all right? Now, listen, don’t hold back. All right? So, what would you do if I just came right into you?
Hope: Ah!
Deacon: Now that’s what I’m talking about, yeah! Good shot. Look at you. Nice.
Hope: You good?
Deacon: Good punch there. Yeah, good.
Katie: You know, I guess hope missed deacon a lot more than we all realized.
Brooke: His absence left a void.
Katie: One that we’re all too familiar with.
Brooke: I really think he’s making an effort. But will it last? I don’t know. And I hope so, for hope’s sake. She really wants this. She wants her dad in her life. She wants to get to know him.
Katie: I’m sure hope sees this as an opportunity for the three of you to be a family.
Brooke: Well, like you said, it’s a little complicated. I don’t want this to make ridge feel threatened at all, and he shouldn’t be. But we both have children from other relationships. And I’m not threatened by his family with taylor, thomas and steffy.
Steffy: Oh, this feels like a real family reunion.
Thomas: Uh, you know, douglas is going to be so excited to see you. He loves you so much. You know, maybe I should… I should call hope. Pull him out of school early.
Steffy: Playing hooky to see grandma. I like it.
Taylor: No, no, no, no, no. I can wait a few hours. I know how much douglas loves school.
Ridge: He does. It sounds like another forrestor’s headed for higher education.
Thomas: Yeah. Or he’s heading to mars.
Taylor: Oh, I want to see a space project. He told me all about it on the last call. We always have so much catching up to do. I don’t get to talk to him enough, you know?
Thomas: Well, I mean, you’ve gotten to talk to him every time he’s with me, right?
Taylor: Yeah, yeah. But are you seeing him more?
Thomas: Uh, about the same.
Taylor: Does that bother you?
Thomas: I mean, look, he will see me more when I finally get my own house, right? I still have to talk to hope about that, but yeah.
Taylor: Well, hope has legal custody and that’s understandable, yeah. And I’m just, I’m surprised that it hasn’t been amended by now. You know, you’re doing so good. And, well, douglas is not a logan, he’s a forrester, so he should be spending more time with you.
Thomas: Hm. Maybe it’s another refill at your favorite diner…
Deacon: Show me the round kick. Yeah. Oh, yeah! Oh, you’re getting it. Damn!
Hope: You make it seem easy.
Deacon: It’s not, but you’re a quick study. Wow. Just, okay, just chamber your kicks. Don’t overextend on your punches and just pay attention to the details. You know, it’s the little things that make all the difference. The little things make all the difference – it must sound like a complete platitude coming for me.
Hope: No, no, dad. I know exactly what you mean, and I can see that you are making an effort.
Deacon: Spending time with my daughter is not hard work.
Hope: Really?
Deacon: Yeah.
Hope: Well, then maybe I need to make it more of a challenge.
Deacon: Oh, snap! Let’s go. What you got, sucka? Let’s see it.
Hope: Hwah!
Brooke: Hey what’s going on? I don’t know if you guys are getting along or trying to knock each other’s heads off.
Hope: Oh, no, dad is just helping me with my form.
Brooke: Oh, I didn’t know you were doing martial arts again.
Hope: Oh, just getting back into it.
Deacon: You know, she’s a natural. Like father, like daughter.
Thomas: Okay, look, we’re, we’re all family to douglas.
Taylor: I know. I know. I shouldn’t have said it like that. Logans versus forresters.
Thomas: It’s just not that way anymore, at least not with the kids and their parents.
Taylor: No, I know, I know. And your children are so lucky to have so many people that love them.
Ridge: And that’s it. That’s our focus.
Steffy: Yeah, but mom, we’re not the only one that thinks thomas should spend more time with this son.
Thomas: I see him as often as I can, sis.
Steffy: Well, you have to ask liam and hope, and that’s not okay. It’s really sad because you’re such a good dad.
Thomas: Okay, look, um, hope stepped in and she filled a role that was necessary. It was a void in douglas’ life, and I’m forever grateful to her for that. And look, I love that kid more than I can put into words.
Ridge: Hey, he loves you, looks up to you. Should see the two of them together.
Taylor: No, I have on video chat. You can feel the connection.
Thomas: Yeah. Well, look, it makes sense for him to be with hope, right?
Ridge: It does, because you’re in between the houses right now.
Thomas: Exactly. And once I have a new place, I’ll spend more time with him.
Taylor: Okay, I think that’s wise for both of you.
Thomas: Look, thank you, mom, for pointing out what I actually have to, to give douglas. But, I, I, I got to regain my balance, you know, and make some healthy changes in my life.
Taylor: But honey, you are.
Steffy: Yeah, we all see it.
Thomas: Look, I’m very grateful for all the, all the help you’ve given me.
Taylor: I knew that you’d get through this.
Ridge: And he did and we’re all very proud of you.
Thomas: I had a lot of support. And you know what? I want to… I want to be good to douglas. He’s such a motivating factor in my life, I want to be a positive force for him.
Ridge: You know, it’s your mom who got you here. All right? She believed in you when you didn’t believe in yourself, and I will always be grateful for that. We missed having you here. I don’t know how you do it, but you pull this family together when we’re in trouble. I look at us now, and, we’re in a good place. And a lot of that is because you.
Ooh
Brooke: Okay, okay, wait, wait, hang on a second. Are you sure this is safe? I don’t want you to hurt each other.
Hope: Oh, we’ll be fine unless dad lets his guard down.
Deacon: Yeah, I gotta stay on my toes with lightning fist logan over here. All right. Ready to show her?
Hope: Okay.
Deacon: Okay. There you go. Good. Very good at this.
Brooke: Wow.
Deacon: See what I mean? She’s a natural.
Brooke: Yeah, that’s, that’s impressive.
Hope: Well, you should’ve seen dad earlier. He was really putting on a show.
Brooke: Oh, imagine that, deacon sharpe, showing off.
Deacon: I was giving my kid a couple of pointers. That’s all.
Hope: Dad actually was a very good teacher. I don’t know. Maybe you could show mom a few moves. Some simple self-defence techniques.
Brooke: No, no. I’m fine.
Deacon: Besides, I don’t think brooke needs martial arts, she could stop a guy in his tracks with just a giggle.
Brooke: Oh!
Hope: He makes it sound like a superpower.
Deacon: I’d say it’s more like kryptonite.
Brooke: Well, I don’t really use that on everybody. Okay. That’s it. Show me a couple moves.
Deacon: It’s on now! All right. Okay, let’s start with basic fighting stance. Okay?
Brooke: Okay. So, like this?
Deacon: Pull your elbows in a little bit.
Hope: And then make sure your face is- your hands are up.
Deacon: Yeah. You wanna protect that beautiful face.
Hope: And then you’re going to just step into the punch.
Deacon: Okay.
Brooke: Okay.
Hope: So all your power goes in.
Brooke: Ready?
Deacon: Let’s go. She’s pretty good, right?
Brooke: No, no. It’s going to take me a while to get as good as you two.
Deacon: Well, okay, maybe hope got her fighting spirit from me, but she definitely got her grace and her strength from you. I’ll tell you, our girl here is pretty incredible. She’s focused and she’s ferocious. And doesn’t take any any grief, just like her mother. You know, I know I wasn’t around when you were a kid, but nobody, nobody could have done a better job of raising you than your mother. You have to know this, that there is absolutely nothing that you can’t accomplish, and that’s largely because you were raised& by a woman who just got a black belt in overcoming obstacles. And I know that we joke a lot about having similarities, but believe me, I’m so grateful that you took after your mother. Part of the reason that you’re this intelligent, incredible woman is because of the way brooke raised you. I’m just so proud of you.
Taylor: I’m sorry, I had to peek on them again.
Steffy: I’m sorry, they’re still sleeping, I think it’s from all the excitement of seeing you.
Taylor: Yeah, they’re just, they’re so adorable. I could just, I could squeeze them forever and not let them go. Douglas, too. And I’m so excited to officially meet finn.
Steffy: Yeah, finn has that long shift at the hospital.
Ridge: You remember those days, right?
Taylor: I do. They prepared me to be a parent.
Steffy: Finn says the same thing!
Taylor: Oh, he seems like a really good husband and a very good father.
Steffy: Yeah, I’m really blessed to have found him.
Taylor: You’re off to a good start.
Steffy: Yeah, everything feels good. I mean, we have our challenges. One challenge, really.
Taylor: Ugh, sheila. I still can’t believe she’s his biological birth mother. I was so worried when you were all going through that, I wish I could have been here. For the good things too, like to celebrate your wedding and welcome hayes.
Steffy: Mom, we understood.
Ridge: If anybody understands, it’s us. We know what it’s like to commit to something.
Thomas: Yeah, and what you do is so important.
Taylor: So are all of you.
Ridge: Oh.
Thomas: Oh, boy.
Taylor: I’m so sorry, this is, this is jet lag. I think it’s catching up on me. I think I need to go.
Steffy: Go? Where are you going?
Taylor: I’m just, I’m going to go to the hotel. I booked a hotel.
Steffy: No, no, no, no, no, you cancel it. You’re staying here.
Taylor: What? No, I couldn’t do that to you. You and finn have busy schedules, a house full of kids.
Steffy: The kids love hanging with you. And selfishly, I want to hang with you, too.
Taylor: She’s not going to take no for an answer.
Ridge: No.
Taylor: Okay, I, this is everything that I, that I hoped for. A real homecoming. I get to see my kids healthy and happy. Our children are raising children. It’s so beautiful!
Thomas: No, for us too. And so make yourself at home. We expect you to stay a little while.
Steffy: Yeah, we have so much to catch up on. I have videos, photo books. This is so nice. It just feels right. We feel like a family again.
Taylor: Yeah.
Ridge: Well, you remember what your mom used to say, it’s not a family moment without a family hug.
Thomas: Right, come on. Better skin from your body wash? cbs. Cbs. Cbs. Considering P.M. 4ed this holiday season…
