And Elizabeth was able to stop me from completely eviscerating Ava in front of the girls, which only would have terrified them. Well, Elizabeth’s good in a crisis. She always has been. Yeah, well, thanks to her, my dad might finally be able to beat Ava at her own game. ♪♪ Why is your cardiologist calling you now? We just were there. Relax. I got some good news. Ahh. Uh, he wanted to talk to me about some test results. What’d he say? Well, I can’t be stressed. And, you know, I have to continue to take my medication. But he was wrong about the pacemaker. I mean, I still have to have, you know, my heart surgery to repair the damage that the gunshot did. Okay. But other than that, I’m good. Well, I’ve made it a point to meet the business leaders and the decision-makers of Port Charles. And as for the Esplanade’s future, I could be of some use to you. How so? She also told you that her mother was dead when she wasn’t. She was very much alive and had been in and out of Port Charles several times. Yes, she did do that, but I understand why it was hard for Sasha to tell the truth when she made the lie real for so long. You are awfully forgiving. There have been times in my life where I needed forgiveness. And there will be more in the future. You mean with Sonny? Well, that’s one example. You know, in an ideal world, Willow, everyone would be honest right from the beginning. But that’s not what happens. People lie to protect themselves, and they lie to protect the people that they love. When all your choices are bad, sometimes lying seems like the best choice. In the beginning, the lie serves us, but then we end up serving the lie rather than living our lives. You’re absolutely right. I really, really do want to make her life easier. I just — I keep making things harder. Well, I’m sure it isn’t easy for you to watch her moving on. Not that long ago, I was — I mean, I was the guy who would brighten her day. Oh, Cody, you were more than that. You were in love. Willow was right there at the next table. If I would have told Cody the truth, she could have found out that Michael had been unfaithful, too. If that came out during Michael’s custody fight, he could lose the kids. I appreciate what you’re doing for Michael. And I’m willing to go along with it… for Michael and the kids, but only if you’re sure that this is what you want. I’m completely sure. I’m helping Michael because he’s my friend… and also because he has agreed to let me raise this baby on my own. Yeah, he made that part very clear. All he wants me to do is help you out and look after you. I don’t need looking after. I don’t hover, but if you need something, I’m here and I won’t be far. So the two of you will look after me whether I like it or not? Ava just made a huge mistake that could be useful in Avery’s custody trial. Oh, that is good. That’s great. Yeah. I just — I know how painful this hearing is gonna be, because a custody battle is just not easy for anybody. No, I don’t — I don’t like it. And I hate the fact that I have to fight to keep Avery and put Kristina on the stand in front of Ric and Ava and the whole thing. No, I know. I just don’t like it, you know? I know how your brother works in a courtroom. I’d want to avoid that, too. But even if I win the hearing, I can’t just cut Ava out of Avery’s life. As much as I hate her, I have to do what’s best for my daughter. And that is really complicated and really stressful. And these are all the things you need to avoid before you have this surgery. At other times, it pops into your head. Michael Corinthos was one of those times. You and Lucky have a lot in common. You both think on your feet and you’re great under pressure. Well, as I already suggested to your dynamic Mayor Collins, we move it to a new location. Where to? Pier 55. [ Laughs ] It’s pure selfishness on my part. The Esplanade would be easy access for me. I’m living at Wyndemere. Pier 55 is an interesting idea, but you’d have to get it past Drew Quartermaine, who at the present moment is doing everything he can to stop this project. Well, I’ve already spoken to Congressman Quartermaine, and he seems open to the idea of invoking eminent domain to claim the area. Moving the Esplanade to that location would put an end to the blight and criminal activities that dominate the area. [ Cellphone rings ] Oh, excuse me. I should get this. Yeah. A word of advice — Whatever this guy wants, just say no. I should have told Michael the first time I kissed Drew. If I had been honest, then everything might be different now. But at the time, my first impulse was to lie. So I did. No, I don’t think so. If I remember correctly, you wanted to tell Michael about the kiss, but Drew convinced you not to. It was my decision, and I made the wrong one. The truth is, Michael and I both kept things from each other. And I don’t want to do that anymore. And I don’t with Drew. I can be completely honest with him because I know he will always be honest with me. You were there for Sasha at a critical time in her life. You were the one who saved her. Yeah, I liked being the good guy in Sasha’s life. You know? I screwed up my own. Always in one mess after another. And lately, I have been on a tear. Yeah, you really have. Probably not. He wouldn’t hesitate to go up against Drew, though. I don’t even think Sonny knows who Sidwell is. And if things move forward, it could get very ugly, very fast. You think? Considering your actions at Turning Woods, I’m surprised the only thing they did was ban you. I tended to many souls. I sat with them for hours, and most of the time, I was their only visitor. Who’s sitting at their bedsides now? So Ric found out a couple of things about our little friend over there. I mean, whether Sidwell goes after Lucky or Lucky goes after him, I-I don’t see it ending well. I still can’t believe there are no outstanding warrants against Sidwell. I mean, come on. The CIA, FBI, WSB, and Interpol — nothing. The guy knows how to fly under the radar. Or he has some kind of pull. Anna thinks that he may be behind the fire in Sonny’s apartment. Yeah, I’ve been mulling that over myself. I mean, it’s a hell of a way to enter a town. But why target Sonny? Good question. Why Sonny? You have lived with nerdy physician types your entire life. No offense. And now you’re living with a highly experienced intelligence agent. Just say spy. A highly experienced spy who can tell when you’re lying and poke holes in any cover story. I can handle it. [ Scoffs ] If you think you can get something past Anna, you can’t. So, I’m offering you a judgment-free zone. What is that, and why would I need it? I can’t even console myself anymore thinking that maybe there was a reason, Maybe she was meant to give her life to somebody else, and that’s what made it sacred. But that’s not what happened. What happened is she died because somebody killed her. And that is something that I’m going to have to live with for the rest of my life. Lulu: I can imagine how frustrating that must be. You just want justice for Sam. Yeah, I do. I hope you get it. It’s not going to bring her back, but at least it’ll make me feel like I’m doing something. I’m not sure there’s anything you can do. This is all about grief, Dante. There are no easy fixes. It’s really hard losing Sam. And now I have to try and wrap my head around the fact that she was murdered. Kai’s really struggling. It’s like he doesn’t even want to think about life after football. I started to think about what you went through after you were shot, and how you had to work your way back. Well, I get why you would think of me. It’s not the same, but I kind of know what he’s feeling. Would you mind speaking to Kai and sharing what it’s like to go through rehab? It’s a good thing the season is over. Mayfield, with this second string self, can’t connect with any of our receivers downfield. I kind of feel sorry for the dude. Our offense was built around you. And for the most part, I have been at peace with my decision. You know, I was too young to be the mother that baby deserved. So, now I just — I need to live with the choice I made years ago and keep the baby’s existence a secret and the adoption sealed. Are you sure, sweetheart? Because I will support whatever you decide. So, this is — this is just between us, okay? Jason had the chance to kill Sidwell in Somalia, and I convinced him not to. Because you’re not a killer. It’s not who you are. Then why are you sabotaging a project that could give jobs to those constituents? Because the environmental report came back with a lot of concerns, and we just have to pause to reevaluate. Projects like this one die in committee because some House member has an axe to grind. It’s Aurora’s project, right? And as CEO of Aurora, it’s really up to you to clear up any issues before Congress can release funding. Aurora will be just fine if the Esplanade doesn’t happen. Well, there you have it. But you, on the other hand, will be screwing over Jordan, your constituents, and the project that carries the name of the man who gave you his seat in Congress in the first place. You know what, Curtis? You seem a little tense. I say you and I, we work it out in the ring. Well, as much as I hate to admit it, Ric did make a couple of good points. The only reason she was in that bed was because of me. It’s very human to feel like it’s your fault, but it’s also completely untrue. Lulu, you are not responsible for Sam’s death. There is one person who is. And that’s the murderer. I know that. It’s just so hard to silence that voice that keeps telling me that it was my fault. And then when I think about how Dante must see me, that voice just booms. Because Dante is really grieving right now. But you can’t assume that you know how he feels. But you could ask. Just like that? With the connection that the two of you have? Yeah. Just like that. Now, it may not be the best time to express the full breadth of your feelings for Dante. No kidding. I can’t get you pregnant. ♪♪ I was terrified this whole time that the problem was me. And now I almost wish it was. Oh, you don’t mean that. His face, Ma… Yeah. But if you take too much of it, it can cause a heart attack. Dex Heller died of a heart attack. Was he one of the victims, too? Yeah. So, did whoever stabbed Dex come to the hospital to finish the job? Or was he stabbed by one perp and murdered by another? I don’t know. But whoever gave Dex the digitalis, they did the same thing to Michael. But Michael survived. Right, because his doctor knew about these other cases. So, he took a chance and gave Michael the antidote. And it worked. Yeah, it’s just Dex and Sam weren’t that lucky. For the record, I’m not surprised you still love Dante. I’m just surprised you admitted it. Really? Yeah. I mean, the night of the explosion, you told me you were planning on telling him you still loved him. Yeah, well, you know what they say about plans. Involved? Call that what it is, please. They’re having sex on the nursery floor. No, this was before. Michael heard that Drew and Willow kissed, whatever. He took off to go have a drink or two. And then he ran into Sasha, who was also in a bad place. So, it’s not enough that Michael — his custody case is already complicated. Now he’s an adulterer, too. And you know this for a fact? Now I do. What does that mean? Well, at first, I just suspected — That Michael was the father? Yes, but Sasha confirmed it. And according to her, they have an agreement that Michael is going to keep his distance and she can raise his child on her own. But you don’t believe her. I want to hear it from Michael. Because as much as it would benefit Michael’s custody case if she took this child and relocated across the country or on the other side of the world, we can’t take her at her word. Exactly. And if it’s not what Michael wants, we need to protect him. And, of course, Sasha has a tenuous grasp on the truth, which she comes by honestly, because after all, she is Holly Sutton’s daughter. Oh. Well, if you’re friends, why would he assume that? I mean, in my experience, friends don’t try and take each other out. You knew with Valentin by your side, you’d look that much more capable. You know what’s funny? I was far less ruthless back then than I am now. I don’t think I ever really saw him that way. How did you see him? As an outsider who needed me as much as I needed him. We became true friends in a world where they were hard to come by. That’s sweet. In a strange, twisted way. Yeah. It was. Till that friend tried to kill me. I will keep an eye on Sasha while you’re gone. Thank you. But I will not push assistance on a very capable mother. Okay, good. I’m not asking you to. We’re going to shield the truth from Scout because she’s too young and she can’t wrap her mind around this. Okay. I agree. And Danny, I think we just wait till we get more information before we tell him. What if he reads something online or someone says something at school? I’m going to talk to Anna and see if she can keep this out of the press and away from the public for as long as possible. We have a lot of work to do, and we’re going to have to stay strong and present a united front… for the kids. It’s what Sam would have wanted. And we won’t let her down. Davis women unite? Always. But you protected Valentin all these years. I admire that kind of loyalty. I’d like to like to think that I’m loyal too. Hmm, mm. Like when you went behind my back and bugged my office. Okay, that was to prove Anna and Jason wrong. Oh. And we weren’t really friends then. Oh, not like we are now. Yeah, exactly. There’s a big difference between us, you know. Yeah, I’m not a spy. You’re a good person. Yeah, I could line up a boatload of people right here that would disagree with that statement. They’re just wrong. You think you know me so well, huh? I’m very perceptive. Yeah. I’m perceptive too. Yeah. And you’re not the bad guy you want everyone to think you are. Man of mystery. Ruthless. Unreadable. I’m not those things? Sometimes. Yeah. Yeah, but to me, you’re the guy who has done some really awesome things for me time and time again when you expected nothing in return. Well, that’s not true. I mean, there is something in it for me. I fought it for a while. And now? I’m all out of fight. Wow. That’s funny. So am I.
