THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
[dramatic music]
Hey, boss.
You’re late.
Three minutes, what’s the big deal? We don’t open for dinner for another hour.
Three minutes late is still late, Ms. Choi. But I’ll let it slide… this time.
Thanks, Ms. Vitali. What are you reading?
Just the latest Salem news.
About Brady Black, by any chance?
You already heard?
That he isn’t the one who ran over Sarah Kiriakis after all? Yeah, his son, Tate, told me. He and I are pretty close. ,::,
Hey, dude, I heard the good news about your dad.
Yeah, man, it’s great news, right? both: Yeah.
I was actually just texting my grandpa to see if he’s been released yet.
Good, dude, I’m happy for you. I feel like that was really weighing on you.
It was, man. Thank you.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, sure. So what does this mean for you and Holly? Hello, I feel like she went after your dad pretty hard.
Oh… there is no more me and Holly. We broke up.
OK. [laughter]
Thank you.
If I may, I’d like to make a toast to the bride and groom. I have to admit that… I was nervous about seeing you, Abigail, especially after the way Mom felt when she did. But now… I’m just sorry I didn’t reach out sooner, even if it was to video chat or talk to you on the phone.
[echoing] My mother? Oh, yes I was talking on the phone to my brother, JJ. My mom had a hard time accepting that I was actually her daughter, Abigail.
Wait, what do you mean? Didn’t you two just talk on the phone last night?
[groans] Damn, straight to voicemail.
So what’s going on, sis?
I’m trying to get Chad on the phone, but he’s not picking up. You know, he’s in Paris.
He is? With Abigail?
Yeah, yeah. And now he’s not answering my texts. I’m just gonna keep trying.
So why Paris?
It was her idea. She thinks it’s gonna jog her memory.
OK, all right. Oh, because they lived there for a while after they got married, right?
Yeah, and apparently, they’re getting married again.
And that’s not a good thing?
No, Roman, it’s a terrible thing. [light music] – Clyde, I’m here at Le Café Blanc. [dramatic music] But look, there has to be some other way. Yeah, no, I get it. You don’t have to keep telling me why I’m doing this.
So what’s the plan? How do you propose I murder him?
Holly, what are you talking about?
Oh, well, it’s just, when I ran into Abigail at that café downstairs, she was on the phone with you.
No, she wasn’t. [chuckles]
[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”
[tense music]
Look, I know what’s at stake, OK? So enough with the threats. Just tell me the plan. A package? Where?
Table closest to the entrance. Yeah, no, I see it.
[sighs]
I got it. Yeah. I know. I know. I know. I just need to make sure that my sister and Chad are married, and then I–
[chuckles] JJ, I think you were in the middle of a toast.
Yeah, but just hold on one second.
No, I would love to hear the rest of it.
Yeah.
I would love to hear the rest of it. It’s–it’s fine. I don’t think Holly meant to interrupt.
You’re right, I didn’t.
That’s fine. No, hold on a second.
JJ, go ahead.
No, no, no, sorry. Just real quick. I’m just a little bit confused here. You said that she was on the phone with her brother?
Yeah, I did say that. And look, it’s not like I was eavesdropping or anything, I promise. Just, when I walked past you, you were talking about your mother, and you said you were on the phone with JJ, so…
I guess I must have misunderstood.
Yeah, yeah, you did.
[sighs]
So, what, are you worried that Chad and Abigail are rushing things? I mean, we do know she hadn’t gotten her memory back yet.
That’s not it. He’s not answering his damn phone. You know, maybe–maybe he’s got it turned off.
All right, Kayla. Look, I know you don’t rattle easy. Your hands are shaking. What the hell is going on here? What do you need to tell Chad?
That he’s about to marry a woman who is not Abigail. [light music]
You and Holly broke up? Like, for real? What happened?
Yeah, dude, we had this huge fight about my dad.
Ugh. That’s rough, dude. I’m sorry.
Yeah, it was also about– ah, never mind, doesn’t matter.
Ah, no, don’t do that. Come on, it’ll stay between us. Come on, you know that.
All right. Dude, Holly slapped Sophia across the face.
Sorry?
Yeah.
What–are you serious?
I am very serious, man. They were arguing in the square. And just as I walked up, Holly attacked Sophia.
That’s–what? That’s crazy. Why? Why did she do that?
Dude, like, well, because Sophia just called Holly out for sneaking into my dad’s room to try and get evidence to give to the DA.
Who is EJ DiMera, who’s married to Holly’s mom, right?
Yeah, but they’re getting a divorce now. And besides, Holly is just as angry at her mom as she is everybody else in the world.
OK, OK, OK. But I–I still don’t see how that would mean she goes WWE on Sophia.
Well, there is more. Sophia also told Holly that she likes me as more than just a friend.
OK, I don’t see why Holly is freaking out about that. I mean, I feel like we knew Sophia was after you from–from the jump.
Yeah, I guess you’re right. I’m sorry about that, by the way. I know you were into Sophia.
No, no, no. It’s OK. I’m all right. I mean, be real. You’re the one that she wanted from the beginning anyway, so it’s OK. But now that you and Holly called it quits, could you and Sophia get together?
[sighs] [dramatic music]
So this Fiona woman just stood by and let Brady take the fall for paralyzing Sarah. [chuckles] Unbelievable.
Yeah, not to me. See, I waited on her once. She turned out to be a real bitch.
What, she gave you a hard time?
Only after I joked about how much she loved her martinis. But before I hit that nerve, we had some girl talk. I have to say, she was a pretty good listener.
Oh, yeah?
Knowing that she’s such a terrible person, now I wish I hadn’t confided in her.
Well, she’s certainly not gonna be hanging her hat around here for a while.
More like never again. So I’m back to having no one to talk to.
You know what? I should let you guys celebrate as a family. Thank you for letting me be a part of this. I’ll just come get the rest of my stuff later.
No, you don’t have to leave.
No, it’s–it’s fine, Chad.
Holly, no, no.
You guys should all be together.
You don’t have to leave.
I’m good. We’re good.
Are you sure?
Yeah.
OK. Thank you for your– thank you for coming and all of your help.
Mm-hmm. Bye.
OK, so you want to explain why you told Holly you were talking on the phone to JJ?
I– I had a really emotional day. I wasn’t thinking straight.
That’s not an explanation.
Chad… please–please don’t look at me like that. I–I was rattled. I–I don’t– she said she wasn’t eavesdropping, but she clearly was. I was having a private conversation with someone–
Yeah, but you said you were talking to JJ, and I’m pretty sure he would remember it. So if you weren’t talking to JJ, then who were you talking to, Abby? And why the hell are you lying about it?
She’s not Abigail? What the hell?
Shh. Would you just keep your voice down?
I thought you did a DNA test to confirm that.
Well, we did, but my ever-suspicious husband did not accept the test results on face value. And it turns out that his instincts were spot-on and that the DNA test… was wrong.
Well, what the hell happened? Was there a screwup in the lab?
No, it wasn’t a mistake. Somebody tampered with it.
Who would do that?
Well, we know who did it– somebody on my staff, somebody I thought that I could trust. [sighs]
I said I would, didn’t I? Look, I will do what you want, Clyde. Then you damn well better make good on your promise.
Mark?
Holly.
Hi. This is so weird, running into each other here.
Yeah, some coincidence. What are you doing in Paris?
[lounge music]
So Fiona Cook was your only confidant? What, you don’t have girlfriends your own age that you can talk to?
Not really. I mean, for a while, I had Holly Jonas, but our friendship kind of blew up.
Oh, let me guess. You had a falling-out over a boy.
Yeah, Tate. But see, I liked him first, and Holly knew that, but then she totally broke girl code and didn’t have the decency to tell me to my face that she wanted him for herself.
Yeah, that’s definitely breaking girl code.
I know, right? So instead she went behind my back and came up with this whole ridiculous scheme. She went to prom with our friend Aaron and then tried to get me and Aaron to hook up while she ran off with Tate.
Oh, sounds a little shady.
Truth. Anyway, Tate is a really great guy, and he and Holly were just so wrong for each other.
Hmm. So what’s going on now? You and Tate together?
Not exactly. Not yet, I mean.
Does he know that you like him?
Yeah, yeah, I’ve told him. It’s just…
It’s just what?
Well, he and Holly just broke up, and yeah, she wasn’t nice, and she did a lot of terrible things to him, but I’m also probably a part of the reason they’re not together anymore, and… I think he may still be hung up on her.
Mm. So I guess you kind of feel like you’re, like, the other woman?
Yeah. Yeah, exactly. That’s totally it. I mean, I think, even though they broke up, Holly’s still on his mind. Like, you don’t get over someone that quickly, right?
No, normally it–it takes– it takes a while.
Right, that’s why I don’t want to push too hard, at least for now.
I get it.
Sounds like you’ve been there.
Do you know what it’s like to be the other woman?
Sophia kissed you?
Mm-hmm.
Like, when you and Holly were together?
No, no, no, no. Holly and I were over by then. But I still had to tell Sophia the truth, that I’m not over Holly.
Ugh, and I’m sure she took that real well.
Yeah, no, not at all, actually.
[scoffs] OK, OK. Well, I mean, that– that makes sense, right? You and Holly went through a lot together, so it makes sense that you would take a while to get over her. But when you do, I mean, can you see yourself with Sophia?
I don’t know, dude.
Are you attracted to her?
I mean, yeah. Yeah, she’s–she’s really hot.
Yeah.
And, like, yeah, she’s been really supportive about everything that went down with my dad. Like, really there for me, you know?
OK. So what’s stopping you? Are you still thinking you’re gonna get back together with Holly? [dramatic music]
I’m here visiting my mom. She lives here now.
Right, of course.
What brings you to the City of Light? [tense music]
Something not so light, actually. I have to deal some issues concerning my parents’ estate. They own some properties here in France.
Mm.
They died in an accident.
Right. Aaron told me about it. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Thanks. And hey, I would love to stay and chat, but unfortunately, there is someplace I have to be.
Right, well, I don’t want to hold you up. It’s just crazy. I–I don’t know, seeing another person from Salem here in Paris? I mean, what are the chances of that?
What do you mean? Who else from Salem did you run into?
Oh, I’m not sure if you know her. Abigail DiMera? [unsettling music]
OK, let me get this straight. So Steve gives this Mark character samples of his and your DNA, claiming they’re from Abigail and Thomas.
Yeah. And he supposedly tested it and then told Steve that it was a match for mother and son.
Oh, that son of a bitch. Why would he go to such lengths to trick Abigail’s family?
I don’t know, but he’s obviously in cahoots with this fake Abigail. I tried to contact him and confront him with all of this, and he’s disappeared. – Abigail DiMera? You know, I don’t think we’ve actually met. No, but I did hear about her return.
Yeah.
Yeah, she’s in Paris now too?
Mm-hmm, yeah, I actually just came from her wedding ceremony.
She got married?
To Chad DiMera, yeah. I guess their marriage was dissolved when she supposedly died, so they wanted to make it legal again. But they just said their vows a little while ago. They are now once again husband and wife.
Wow, great news. I’m so happy for them.
Answer the question. Why’d you lie about talking to JJ?
Chad… can–can you and I discuss this alone, please?
You want to give us a few minutes?
Yeah, OK. Sure.
What are you hiding, Abby? Why’d you lie?
Um–
Answer me.
OK. OK, OK, Chad, I will tell you everything.
[lounge music]
So you have been the other woman?
Let’s just say I know what it’s like when people want to sew a scarlet letter to your blouse. You can’t let it get to you.
Kind of hard not to.
Yeah, it is. But you know what people say about opinions?
Everybody has one.
Right. And if you take everyone’s opinion to heart, you are gonna end up second-guessing every move that you make.
So you want my two cents? If you like Tate, if you really like him, go for it. You fight for him with everything that you have. And who cares what other people say? You are a smart, strong, beautiful young woman. Own it. Own who you are.
Own who I am. I like the sound of that.
[chuckles]
I just– I don’t see how Holly and I can work past our problems. Like, I mean, she totally betrayed me.
Yeah, like, multiple times.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes, more than once. And actually, the first time was the worst, man. Like, letting me take the rap for the drugs that she OD’d on? And then this time, she lied to me to get into my house. She said that it was because she wanted to work on things with us, but it wasn’t. It was really ’cause she wanted to get the goods on my dad so she could try to hurt him. Yeah, it’s kind of hard to forgive, man.
Yeah, I get it. I get it. Wow. OK, so sounds like you guys are really done.
Yeah. I guess we are.
OK. So what’s stopping you with Sophia? What are you waiting on? [dramatic music]
You know, I can’t say I know the DiMeras well, but I’m happy for Abigail and Chad. They’re lucky to get another chance at happiness.
Yeah, they are. I just hope it all works out.
Is there some reason it wouldn’t?
I hope not. Just, things got a little weird before I left.
Weird how?
It was communication issues between Abigail and her brother.
Her brother?
JJ, yeah. He showed up to Paris as a surprise. I shouldn’t be talking about this. Like I said, I just hope it all works out.
Yeah, I hope so too.
Yeah.
And now I really need to get going.
Right. See you back in Salem?
Yes, definitely.
[chuckles] OK, bye.
Bye.
Hey, Holly.
JJ, hey.
Hey, who were you talking to just now? Who was that guy?
Kayla, I’m glad you didn’t find this guy and confront him. My gut tells me he’s dangerous.
Well, tampering with DNA test results is certainly criminal, not to mention cruel. I mean, all of us believing that Abigail was alive? [light music] I mean, how could I be so wrong about a person? I–I mean, this guy is a good doctor. I really believed that he was a good guy.
Well, Kay, he obviously fooled a lot of people, but at this point, you need to let the police handle this.
Oh, believe me, I called Jada, and I told her everything.
OK, that’s good. That’s good. Now we just got to hope the Salem PD tracks this bastard down and charges him with perpetrating a fraud.
Yeah, I hope so, before he hurts anybody else.
I’m listening. [dramatic music]
Talk!
OK, I will.
I need you to understand that the only reason that I did this was because– [knock at door]
That’s probably JJ. I’ll tell him to come back.
Oh, can I help you?
Hi. I’m Mark Greene, a doctor from Salem.
OK.
I just ran into Holly Jonas. She goes to school with my– with my brother, Aaron. She said that you two just got married.
Yeah, well–what?
And she also said that your brother was here.
Right, JJ just left. Look, we’re in the middle of a conversation. Can you–what do you want?
Just… to say congratulations.
Why? You don’t even know us.
I mean, I guess–
Abby?
Hi, Chad.
Hi. Sorry, I got– I was worried about you being out here all alone, but I guess you’re not.
Oh, yeah, I was just asking this nice man for directions. Managed to get lost even with my GPS.
I’m so glad that your friend found you.
[chuckles]
Right. OK, well, thank you for your help.
How you doing?
Better now. I just needed to clear my head.
Yeah, well, having that memory of Clyde must have been upsetting.
Yeah.
Wait. I do know you.
Thanks for the pep talk, boss. I’m so motivated now to make things happen with me and Tate, to own who I am.
[chuckles] Great. OK, but right now, I need you to own being one of my servers and get the tables set before we get slammed for dinner.
You got it, Ms. Vitali.
[chuckles] You can call me Ava.
OK, Ava. [lounge music]
Wait, so you’re telling me you would not have a problem with me being with Sophia?
No, why would I?
I know you were into her.
Yeah, yeah, but I mean, I got friend-zoned, as you well know, so I’m over it. It’s fine. I told you that.
You’re sure?
Yes. I’m sure. Do not hold back on my account, dude. Go for it.
OK. Well, thanks, man.
You’re welcome.
Do you want to come over to my place so I can kick your ass on the gaming system my grandma got me?
Ha, ha, ha. No, I would love to, but I have to watch my sister tonight.
Ah.
Well, my brother’s out of town doing something with our parents’ estate.
All right. Rain check?
Sure. [dramatic music]
You know, Jennifer– Jennifer was right all along. Her mother’s intuition told her that that woman was not Abigail. We should have all listened to her.
Yeah, well, Jennifer will be vindicated, but Jack, my God, he’s gonna be crushed. Can you imagine having to deal with the loss of their daughter all over again? And Jack really, really believed that was his little girl.
My heart breaks for both of them and for Chad, obviously. I just pray to God that he has not married that scam artist yet.
Yeah, that poor guy. I mean, by some miracle, he thought he had gotten the love of his life back.
But it was a lie, an egregious lie. I mean, we should have known better than to believe Clyde Weston when he said that Abigail was still alive. I mean, this is all his doing.
[sighs]
Oh, that was just some guy I know from Salem. A doctor, actually, Mark Greene. I go to school with his younger brother, Aaron.
What’s he doing in Paris?
Something about his late parents’ estate. Such a coincidence, though, running into Abigail here and now him at the same café.
Yeah, it’s– it’s pretty wild.
Sure is. So are things OK with Abigail and Chad?
Not really. I just–I can’t imagine why my sister would have lied about talking to me.
Me neither. Still feel pretty bad about saying anything, though. I, like, totally messed up their wedding reception.
No, I’m actually glad you did. There’s something definitely off here. But Chad’s talking to Abigail in private right now, so hopefully he can get to the bottom of things.
Yeah, I remember you. I saw you two together at the park. You said that you were lost and that you were just asking him for directions.
You two know each other?
We do.
Is he who you were talking to when you–when you said you were talking to JJ?
Yes, and I don’t know why he’s here. Why are you in Paris, Mark?
Somebody better tell me what the hell is going on right now.
I’m sorry. Please, you have to know I had no other choice.
Sorry about what?
[gasps] Oh, my God.
OK, OK, OK. OK. [tense music] OK.
[lounge music]
Hey, you.
Hey. Is this a bad time?
No, no, it’s fine. We just opened for dinner, but no customers yet, as you can see.
Mm-hmm.
Are you here for your sliders?
No, actually, I’m here to talk to you.
Oh. OK, cool. Any news about when your dad is getting released?
No, not yet.
Soon, I hope. So what did you want to talk about?
You and me.
What about us?
I was wondering if maybe you wanted to hang out after work.
Yeah, yeah, sure. I’d love that.
All right. Awesome. OK, I’ll pick you up after your shift. What time is it over?
:.
All right. I’ll see you then.
See you then.
[chuckles]
Honestly, I– I can’t think of a reason why my sister would have lied about this. [dramatic music] Unless–
Unless what?
Unless she really isn’t my sister.
JJ, why would you think that? Wasn’t there DNA proof done that she’s really Abigail?
There was. But I was a cop long enough to know that proof can be doctored.
So you think someone messed with the DNA results?
Maybe. It’s just, I–I keep going back to how my mom felt when she actually met with Abigail. She told me when we spoke about it that she didn’t feel it in her heart that that was her daughter.
It must have been really hard for her and for Abigail.
Yeah, it was, apparently. But what if my mom has been right all along that that woman isn’t her daughter or my sister or Chad’s wife? And what if you catching her in a lie just helped us prove it?
[tense music]
Mark, my God. What are you doing? Put the gun down!
I’m sorry. I really am. But he said there is no other way.
Who said that? Who told you to kill me?
[sighs] I still can’t get Chad on the phone. Well, at least Steve will be there soon.
Steve?
Yeah. He left for Paris this morning to try to stop Chad from marrying that impostor.
All right, good. I’m glad he did. Hopefully, he gets there on time.
[sighs]
Now that you two are married, Clyde wants Chad dead.
Mark, you can’t do this!
Get out of the way.
No, I will not!
Get–
If you want to shoot him, you have to shoot me first.
Get out of the way, damn it!
No!
Steve? What’s going on?
I’ll tell you what’s going on. This woman is not Abigail.
