[ Exhales heavily ] I was so worried about you. Until 10 minutes ago, I thought jason was dead. How the hell do you have a warrant to search my house? We petitioned a federal judge. Based on your long association with the fugitive in question, we had reason to believe that jason would come here. And we had reason to believe that you would aid and abet him. Okay, well, you can show your warrant to my lawyer when she gets here. Until then, wait outside.

I don’t want my friend to get in any trouble, but I don’t know how else to make him stop. That’s a tough situation to be in.

I happen to love fluorescent lighting. Right. Sure. I am really looking forward to whatever comes next. But today we are friends and I care about you. Back at you. Apparently, there’s a hole in his coat where the bullet almost hit him, and dante was shot twice and is fighting for his life. And a few weeks ago, sonny was shot at in puerto rico, which kristina told molly in confidence. Maybe I’m not supposed to know, so please don’t — don’t say anything. Understood. My point is, this is exactly what I feared. Have you told molly any of this? That I’m afraid of her sister being our egg donor because her family is a dysfunctional mess and frequently in physical danger? Well, maybe not in those exact words. Mom, what am i supposed to say? I agreed to it. Molly knew you had reservations at the beginning. Sure. So did she. It took a lot of soul searching for us to get to a place to where we chose kristina, but we did choose her. And once we did, molly was all-in. But you don’t feel the same way. I’m trying. But I look at dante in that hospital bed, and I’m like, “is this our life now?” Our child is born, someone else gets shot at, and we’re just — we’re — we’re holding our breath until they pull through. I don’t want that. I don’t want that for myself. I don’t want that for my child. Is that so selfish? No. No, tj, it’s human. If I stay, I could at least tell rocco I was here for a little while. [ Groans ] You know, I used to make that same wish. Not anymore? No. I’ve come to a place of peace and acceptance where dante’s job is concerned. But there will be no peace and acceptance for the person who did this to him. And I need you to make sure of that. The police commissioner are here, and so are the fbi. They have a warrant, and they’re searching the house for jason. They’re telling me he’s alive, and I don’t know how to fight them, diane. So I need you to call me back as soon as possible and find a way to stop them. No sign of him. You? Nothing. Doesn’t mean anything, though, because jason knows this house as if it was his own. He put in the security system. He could easily get in and out without a trace, especially with carly helping him, which clearly she is. So we missed him here. Where would he go next? Carly? Carly. Where are your cars? Am I required to answer that? Is that part of the warrant? Alright, you know what? We can take you down the station, and your attorney and the ada — they can figure it all out. Or you could just answer me! I have — I have two cars, and they’re both in the garage, an suv and a convertible. And there’s a space there for josslyn’s car, but she has it at school. I don’t have a gardener’s truck or anything like that that I could have given jason because he wasn’t here. Alright, alright.
[ Chuckles ] Alright, so we can assume that he’s on foot and he’s injured. Wait. Jason’s hurt? I thought you didn’t believe he was alive. What happened to jason? We believe he attempted to murder your ex-husband, sonny corinthos. He fled the scene, pursued by police, and shot detective dante falconeri twice in the chest. That’s insane. Murder sonny? Jason would never shoot dante. You know this, anna! Well, the evidence suggests otherwise. We’re out on shoreline. Where would he go from here? I think I know one place. Come on. I know more than anyone how you’re feeling. We just can’t jump to conclusions. What other conclusion is there? Dante was shot. And he might not make it. Don’t say that, sam. The police are gonna figure it out. But the police aren’t interested in those questions. As far as they’re concerned, he’s just a suspect on the run. And if they find him… they’ll treat him as such. [ Sighs ] ‘Cause something happened and I wanted to be alone when I told you. You saw jason, didn’t you? He was in my house. Is he still there? No. The police showed up. How did you know he was alive? I saw footage of jason on the roof of selina wu’s warehouse. Him and some other guy were trying to kill me. Federal agents. Hands where I can see them.

All the things you pointed out were true, but there are other truths, too, really wonderful, beautiful ones. Kristina is having your baby. Yeah. They’re both healthy. The pregnancy is going well, right? The baby’s developing beautifully. A gift kristina is giving to you out of love for her sister. And, I mean, come on. Who’s more motivated than her to make sure everything works out okay? I hate hospitals. Me too. I hate waiting even more, but unfortunately that’s what we’re gonna have to endure. Beats being at home. This way, if something happens, we’re close. Wait. That sounds dumb, doesn’t it? Why? It’s not like there’s anything we can do to help him. You know what? A long time ago, I was in the exact same circumstance you’re in right now. Your mom was hurt and I was desperate to do something to try to fix it and all I could do was wait for the doctors to fix it. And they did. And they did. And I think that’s what’s gonna happen for dante. Why aren’t you waiting with dante’s family? ‘Cause I’m not family. I don’t want to intrude. Do they even know you’re here? I don’T… cody! That heart’s very important to me. I think what it all boils down to — do you trust kristina to do what’s in the baby’s best interest? Yes. Then, in my opinion, the good outweighs the bad. You can’t control everything. Why not? Wouldn’t it be nice if we could?
[ Sighs ] All you can do is hope and believe that the outcome will be positive. Otherwise, you’ll be paralyzed. That’s exactly how I feel when the anxiety creeps in. It’s like I’m frozen. Yeah. And I don’t blame you one bit. You’re still dealing with the trauma of the last surrogate’s miscarriage. This is scary. And things don’t always go as planned. I really need this to go as planned. I know. In a perfect world, every pregnant woman would be sitting in a garden with their feet up, surrounded by beauty and calm, ingesting the perfect combination of nutrients. Exactly. But that’s not reality for most people. It certainly wasn’t for me. And guess what. I survived. And so did you. We did, didn’t we? All by way of saying, the odds are actually in your favor. Are you having second thoughts? About what? Letting jason go to jail instead of me. No. It’s okay if you are. No, maxie, I would do anything for you. You know that. And being here with you right now is the only place I want to be. Stranded in the middle of nowhere with an empty gas tank. Yes. So, no, I don’t have any second thoughts. But that doesn’t mean I don’t feel guilty. The fbi now knows who they’re looking for, and that is “on me,” as they say. No, spinelli, you were backed into a corner. You know I love him, but jason is the one who decided to let his face be seen. So whatever happens next, it’s on him, not on you. Whatever happens next. Any guesses what that’s gonna be? Well, I do know that jason won’t give up without a fight. So neither will we. Would it horrify you if I said that I thought we were a little bit alike? Why would that horrify me? Because I’m comparing a teenage boy to his grandma. You’re the coolest grandma I know. Aww! You know, I think that when you and I see an injustice, we want to do what we can to make it right. Right? That’s why I think you should go back to the quartermaines’ — because scout is a night owl and she’s gonna need you when she wakes up. And that’s a good thing that you can do tonight. It may not make it right, but it’ll make it better. Yeah. Let’s go. Jason didn’t shoot dante. Did he tell you that? No. No, we — we didn’t talk about dante. And I turned around and he was standing there and I thought I was hallucinating, but I wasn’T. He was right there. What happened next?
[ Scoffs ] I hugged him, sonny. I realized he was shot, and I went to get him a first aid kit. Did he tell you who shot him? No. Okay. It could have been dante shot jason by mistake, not knowing it was jason, and jason shot back at him, shooting to kill. You don’t know that any of that’s true! No, what i do know is that my son is in a hospital bed with two bullets in his chest. And jason is an expert shot who never misses.
[ Sighs ] I want search teams, both sides of the river, from here to the lake. You find him and you bring him back. Go. Thank you. Why come here? Oh, jason built this bridge. What? Yeah. Don’t you remember? This used to be an ornamental bridge, like the pont neuf in paris. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Kids used to dare each other to come out here. You know, after stone died, jason and robin, they became close, and they used to meet out here. Robin told me that. Anyway, the bridge was unsafe, and eventually the city tore it down. I guess maybe 10, 15 years ago, jason donated money and they rebuilt it on the same spot. Seems like an odd time to check out his public works project. Well, having spent a lot of time out here, I’m assuming that there is a structure, somewhere where he could hide and regroup that’s nearby, and that’s why he headed here. Well, now he’s in the river.
[ Sighs ] And probably dead.
[ Sighs ] I should get going. No. Stay. Early morning surgery. Mnh. Right.
[ Sighs ] Well, thank you for coming over. And I’m sorry I was late. I’m not. Oh, thanks. No, no, not because I didn’t get to spend more time with you, but because I got to spend some time with jake. He’s a — he’s a really good kid. I know he is. You know, you have a lot to do with that.
[ Chuckles ] This parenthood thing — it is not for the faint of heart. We’re doing okay, aren’t we? It’s a lot easier now that I have you.
[ Sighs ] Goodnight, elizabeth. Night.
[ Door closes ] If I haven’t said so, I really appreciate your willingness to work with me, despite my subterfuge vis–vis moving in with you. You don’t have to keep bringing that up, you know. Yes, I was hurt and angry that you lied, but your heart was in the right place. With you. My heart is and always has been with you. Why are you the sweetest? I don’t know.
[ Laughs ] So, all’s well that ends well? Yeah. So, when can you move out? I don’t care how uncomfortable it makes you. A lot of people in this town care about you. I’m one of them. Noted. So no toughing it out alone, okay? If you insist. I do. Okay. Uh, should I get us some coffee? It’s probably gonna be a long night. Yeah. Uh, cream, no sugar. No sugar. Yeah. You know my coffee order? I pay attention. You are kind, compassionate, incredibly gifted. I tell anyone who will listen about my son the doctor. I love you, tj. I love you, too. And I cannot wait to meet my grandchild and see what kind of dad you’re gonna be. Let’S… let’s hope a good one? I have no doubt.
[ Door closes ]
[ Monitor beeping ] Hey. I didn’t mean to pull you away from dante, but there’s something you should know. What’s up? We were able to get an id of the guy on the roof. You mean someone who was involved with dante’s shooting? Who? It’s jason. He’s alive. Oh, jason. Wherever you are, please be okay. Isn’t that one of the first rules of police work? Never assume anything? You think jason survived the fall? I think that’s why he jumped. He thought he could survive the fall. He’d rather take his chances with the river than be taken into custody. Makes sense.
If he put two bullets into dante falconeri, better to jump than be charged with killing a cop.
