[ Brooke sighs ]
Brooke: I wish I could just wake up and have all this be a really bad nightmare. You over at steffy’s with taylor and not here with me. But it happened because of the terrible choices that I made. And I hurt you. I let you down. And I don’t even know why. Or how.
Thomas: How did you do it?
How did you get brooke drunk?
Sheila: So I bought a bottle
of champagne that was real
and I switched the labels.
Brooke didn’t have a clue.
Steffy: No daydreaming allowed. That sketch isn’t going to draw itself, you know.
Thomas: Hey, steff. How’s it going?
Steffy: Seems like you’re thinking about something. What’s on your mind?
Zende: It means a lot that you support my having a future with your daughter.
Grace: You are the perfect – the only – man for paris.
Zende: I’m not saying that I don’t agree. I’m just surprised by your sense of urgency. You said that I need to make a move on paris before it’s “too late.” What do you mean?
Grace: Whatever this is
between you and paris,
it ends today.
Or I’m going to the forresters.
Paris: I could stay right here in your arms.
Carter: Yeah. Huh. I don’t want to let you go either. But we have to stop.
Grace: You know my daughter. She’s an extraordinary, young woman.
Zende: She sure is.
Grace: She’s smart, she’s intelligent, independent.
Zende: Not to mention, gorgeous.
Grace: But I doubt you’re the only one that thinks that.
Zende: Is there another man in paris’ life?
Grace: No.
Zende: You sound sure about that.
Grace: I am. Because the only man for paris is standing right here in front of me.
Paris: This moment is too perfect to do anything but go with it.
Carter: I’m just saying, paris–
Paris: No. Don’t think. Don’t say. Don’t look for problems. Just be here with me now. Look. I– I understand. You think your track record with women is not the best.
Carter: It’s horrendous.
Paris: Doesn’t mean that that’ll apply to us. Maybe I’m the one who’ll break the pattern.
Carter: If only.
Paris: There you go again, thinking that this’ll be a dead end, but I disagree. And for the record? I’d do anything to be with you.
Steffy: What is going on with you? You look so serious and intense.
Thomas: Just thinking.
Steffy: Oh, I see. You’re experiencing an unfamiliar strain on your brain.
[ Chuckles ]
Thomas: Ha-ha.
Steffy: I don’t get– mom and dad are getting closer. You should be as thrilled as I am. He finally sees brooke for who she truly is.
Brooke: I so regret what I did to us.
Ridge: I, I didn’t come here to make you feel bad. I came here because I wanted to see you and to make sure that you’re okay.
[ Scoffs ]
Brooke: You wanted to make sure I wasn’t drinking.
Ridge: Yes, I– so much more than that. You’re with me all the time. I carry you in my heart. If you have type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure
Zende: I am not sure-what I did to inspire your confidence in me, but I appreciate it. It’s nice, having the reinforcement.
Grace: I just want my baby girl to have the very best things in life. And that includes a man of integrity who’ll put her first. I see the way you look at paris, and I know her heart is safe with you. I know that you care about her and that you will love her in a way that she deserves to be loved.
Zende: For the rest of my life. I was ready to make things official on new year’S. I had the ring and everything.
Grace: Obviously you– you didn’t propose.
Zende: I had the wrong take on where we were as a couple. I thought we were on the same page about our future. That paris wanted to get married. But then she started saying all these things that made it very clear she wasn’t there yet. Paris is about that single life. So… I didn’t bring out the ring. It’s still so hard to believe. I mean, I pay attention to things. I can’t believe I was so far off base. It makes me think that something changed in paris. I just don’t know what.
Grace: You know what I think?
Zende: Tell me.
Grace: You need to get that ring, find paris, and go through with the proposal this time.
Carter: You shouldn’t say things like that.
Paris: What, you mean the truth? That I’d risk everything to have these moments with you? I would. Your turn.
Carter: My turn. Okay. Ah, truth is that I can’t get enough of you. Even though I know for so many reasons it’s wrong for us to be together.
Paris: But how can something that feels so right be wrong?
Carter: Paris, you literally take my breath away.
Paris: Ooh, yeah. That’s more like what I wanted to hear.
Carter: But I’m telling you that this– us… it can’t be. You deserve a man who can give you the best of everything. That’s not me. It’s zende.
Steffy: I think you’re forgetting the magnitude of brooke’s betrayal. Dad begged her not to let deacon in. He warned her that this would cause trouble in their marriage. Fast forward: New year’s eve. They’re drinking, kissing, and sleeping in our father’s bed. That’s like a huge slap in his face. That is the most disrespectful thing brooke has done and that is saying a lot.
Thomas: And I do agree, but-
Steffy: No, there’s no buts, thomas. Brooke should have stayed away from deacon.
[ Steffy sighs ] Look, I don’t mean to snap at you. It just kills me when people excuse brooke’s behavior. Yes, she was drinking with deacon, but that doesn’t make her blameless. You get that, right?
Brooke: It means so much to me that despite everything I’ve done, how badly I’ve messed up, you still care about me.
Ridge: Well, I can’t help it. You’re part of me. That’s never going to change.
Brooke: I’ve done a lot of soul searching about why I self-destruct. And–
[ Scoffs ] I still haven’t figured out why I haven’t grown or learned anything from my mistakes. I mean, why? Am I just going to self-sabotage for the rest of my life? Why can’t I change?
Ridge: I don’t have an answer for you.
Brooke: You forgave me for bill. And I told you that would never happen again. And then I did the same thing with deacon. That’s just who I am.
[ Sighs ] I want you to be happy, ridge. I do. I mean, truly happy.
[ Sighs ] That’s why I’m going to say this. Even though it truly kills me. But I am… I’m gonna let you go. Dawn is flipping the way america does dishes.
Grace: I can’t say why paris pulled back on your relationship. Sometimes people get scared when they care too much. But I can tell you what I do know. Paris loves you, zende.
Zende: I used to think so. But I’m not so sure anymore.
Grace: Well, then get sure. And stop holding back. You need to claim your future. Because if you wait too long, it will pass you by. I don’t want that, and you don’t want that. I want the best man for my daughter. And that’s you, zende. So, you go get that ring.
Zende: But paris does not want to get married.
Grace: Correction. “Didn’T.” I talked to my daughter. You propose to paris and she’ll say yes – I’m certain of it. She’ll be your wife.
Paris: Why do you keep pushing me at zende?
Carter: Because he’s the better man for you.
Paris: What if I don’t agree?
Carter: Then I’ll have to work harder at convincing you. You deserve a life full of love and happiness, okay? Career, 2.5 kids, and a big old mansion to raise them in. Zende’s a forrester. He can give you that and more.
Paris: Carter–
Carter: I’m serious. I’ll only drag you down.
Paris: You’ll never get me to believe that.
Carter: Have you actually thought about what it would cost you to be with me? Your job here at forrester, your friends here in L.A. Peaceful existence with your mother. I don’t want to be responsible for that, paris, so forget about me. If zende proposes, do yourself a favor. Accept.
Steffy: It would be unthinkable to me that you in any way would justify brooke’s behavior with deacon. So, please tell me that’s not happening.
Thomas: Of course not. Not with all of her behavior, anyway.
Steffy: What part do you think is okay?
Thomas: Nothing. I don’t think anything was okay. But she was drinking.
Steffy: [ Scoffs ] That’s not an excuse!
Thomas: I know.
Steffy: Dad finally had enough. He came back to mom where he belongs. Do you want him to be happy?
Thomas: How do you even ask that question?
Steffy: Good. Then case closed. Let him be happy with mom.
Brooke: I get why taylor feels like sanity to you after all this emotional chaos that I’ve caused. No more scandals with her. You know, she’s steady and she’s predictable.
[ Ridge sighs ]
Brooke: In a good way.
[ Sighs ] And I’m not. I mean, you want to be able to trust your partner, right? And I can’t seem to give that to you, so…
Ridge: I– I wanted all that stuff with deacon to go away. I wanted everything to be fine. I– I–
Brooke: It’s unfair of me even to ask you to try, ridge. I’m not going to. I love you. And I always will. More than anything. And that’s why I’m doing this. That’s why I’m willing to letting you go.
[ Sighs ] I will give you a divorce. Go with simparica trio it’s triple protection made simple!
Paris: I– I care about zende. He is a wonderful guy. And yeah, at some point I did think we’d have a future together.
Carter: You still can.
Paris: No, I can’T. Because something happened in the meantime that changed everything.
Carter: Oh, paris…
Paris: No. Okay, let’s just get clear on this so we can stop going around in pointless circles. You happened, carter. At a certain point, we noticed each other in a different way, and nothing has ever been the same since. You can’t deny it.
Carter: I wouldn’t even try.
Paris: I’ve never met a man who touches me on such a deep level.
Carter: And I’d never met a woman like you. A woman ready to risk everything for me, paris, I just wanna sweep you in my arms and never let you go. But it is so complicated. And there’s so many people who would never understand or accept our relationship.
Paris: I don’t care about other people!
Carter: You should. They’re central to your life.
Paris: Not like you.
[ Sighs ]
Carter: When you look at me like that you make me almost believe it’s possible.
Paris: Okay, then believe it, carter. It’s in our hands. All we have to do is make it happen.
Carter: And what about the life you made happen here? The one that forrester made possible? You ready to throw that away? Paris, the family embraced you, with zende, and in your own right.
Paris: Okay, and I’m– I’m so grateful. And I love my job. But I love you more.
Carter: You love me?
Paris: Yeah. I said it. I love you. Now what?
Carter: I love you, too.
[ Laughs ]
[ Knocking on door ]
Grace: Carter, it’s grace buckingham.
[ Knocking ] Open this door now!
Steffy: Brooke is done. Dad can never be happy with her – not after the way she behaved with deacon. There is no excuse for what brooke did. None.
Brooke: I cherish our life together, ridge. I do. And I would do anything to get it back. I just realize that that’s not possible after I carried on with deacon that night. I mean, I see that now. Now that we’ve had a chance to be apart. But I am so, so grateful for all of the times that we did spend together. And our wonderful adventures and moments. And I’ll never forget it.
[ Sighs ] It’s just– I messed up. And it will never be for us. So I have to just… I have to let you go. I’m not going to fight this. I’m not.
Ridge: I’m trying to wrap my head around this.
Brooke: Well, I, uh… I don’t want you to feel obligated or, you know. I just… I want you to feel okay about this, so I’m willing to make this divorce just painless. You know, quick and easy and simple.
Ridge: You’re really saying that?
Brooke: Yeah, I’m really saying that. Because you told me you can’t be with me anymore, so why not be with somebody that you care about? Really, like, taylor. You know. Your other family. Just go. Go, be with them, ridge.
Ridge: How did we get here?
Brooke: I don’t know. But I certainly don’t blame you. I don’T. I just know that I messed up and I’m so sorry. I am– I’m so, so sorry. Because I love you. I– [ Sobs ] Please. You have to know how much I love you. I will never, never stop loving you.
