Thomas: What you did was wrong, sheila.
Sheila: No, brooke kissing deacon. That’s what was wrong.
Thomas: You got her drunk.
Sheila: Yes, I did. And I take full responsibility for that. But everything else that happened new year’s eve, you can blame that on brooke.
Thomas: My dad has been so messed up over this and I was this close to telling him.
Sheila: Yeah, but you didn’T. You kept your mouth shut because we both know your father’s much better off without brooke.
[ Brooke sighs ]
[ Door knocking ]
Brooke: Come in. Ridge. It’s good to see you. What are you doing here?
Grace: You don’t have to say a word. I can tell from the look on your face.
Zende: I’m that easy to read, huh?
Grace: Zende, I would never want to put you on the spot.
Zende: No, it’s okay. You’re paris’ mom. You can be straight with me.
Grace: Let’s just say I know love when I see it. And you’re still in love with my daughter.
Paris: Look, I– I know I surprised you by coming over but carter, I just can’t stay away from you.
Grace: She wanted to see you. The model who just left.
Grace: She’s beautiful.
Zende: No argument here.
Grace: Sequoiah was interested in going on a date tonight but you didn’t say yes.
Zende: I still have a lot of work I gotta get done. I didn’t want to commit to plans just to cancel later.
Grace: Is that all it is, zende? Because it’s fairly clear to me, the woman you really want to be with is paris.
Paris: You’re the man I really want to be with. I can’t pretend that that’s not true.
Carter: You heard what zende was saying.
Paris: He knows how I feel.
Carter: Not about me.
Paris: No, but he knows that I want to keep things loose and casual. Only you know how I feel about you.
Carter: Zende considers me a friend, paris. Do you know what people would think?
Paris: We’re not doing anything wrong so can we just stop focusing on everyone else and just focus on you and me?
Ridge: I thought I’d pick up some clothes.
Brooke: Oh, okay. Um. Well, I, I could have them sent to you if you’re not comfortable being here.
Ridge: I’m comfortable. Like, driving up here everything looked so nice. Flowers and… flowers and– I could’ve sent somebody over here to pick up my stuff, I could’ve waited for you to go to work. I came by because I wanted to see you. I’m worried about you.
Sheila: You made a wise decision, thomas.
Thomas: Yeah, I’m not so sure about that.
Sheila: Why not? And what’s the problem? Your parents are finally having the opportunity to find joy together again after all these years. Do you really want to be the one responsible for taking that away from them? From you and steffy, their grandkids?
Thomas: You set brooke up. You put this whole thing in motion. Why would I keep it a secret? I brought in ensure max protein,
Grace: I’m rooting for you, zende. I believe you can make my daughter very happy.
Zende: I’d like to think so, but I appreciate paris being honest with me, telling me that she wants to keep things casual, date other people.
Grace: My understanding is you both agree to it. But it seems you’re ready to be exclusive.
Zende: I am. But… I guess I read things wrong. I didn’t realize that paris and I weren’t on the same page until she told me. Now I’m just going with the flow. I do appreciate the time I get to spend with her. And if things are meant to happen with paris, cool. But if not–
Grace: Don’T. Don’t give up just yet.
Zende: Has paris shared anything with you? Do you know if she’s seeing someone else?
Grace: End it with
paris or I’ll go to ridge.
Carter: It’s over.
Zende: Grace, do you know something that I don’t? Is paris involved with some other guy?
Paris: No. Don’t tell me we have to stop doing this. You deserve joy and fulfillment and so do I.
Carter: I know. I know, I know. But paris, if we have to sneak around–
Paris: Maybe we don’t have to.
Carter: There’s so much at stake.
Paris: What’s at stake is our happiness. Look, I don’t want to hurt zende, either but I can’t shut off my feelings. And no matter how hard you try to, neither can you.
Brooke: So I guess you’re still staying at steffy’s?
Brooke: Okay. Well, I’m not going to keep you from doing what you came to do.
Ridge: Are you okay?
Brooke: Uh, I’m getting by.
Ridge: Hey, don’t do that. I know we’re not together anymore, but… I love you, I’m always gonna love you.
Brooke: And I’m always going to love you.
Ridge: I get it. The timing of this is, it’s awful.
Ridge: I came here because I want to make sure you’re not unsupported.
Brooke: No. I’m– hope is right down there, you know? She’s doing wonderful–
Ridge: No, she– yeah, she– she’ll– she’ll do whatever she can and so will I.
Brooke: Thank you.
Ridge: You’ve been doing a great job with your sobriety and trying to stay on top of things and I just want to make sure you keep doing that. It only takes one moment of weakness.
Brooke: I know.
Sheila: Brooke doesn’t care about you. Why are you defending her?
Thomas: She is an alcoholic. What you did isn’t fair.
Sheila: When has she ever been fair to me? To your mother?
Thomas: I’ve had issues with brooke in the past but she is an alcoholic and you duped her into drinking. You know how evil that is?
Sheila: I really thought it was quite brilliant. Yeah, I got so much more than I bargained for.
Thomas: Brooke thought she was drinking non-alcoholic champagne that night. How did you trick her?
Sheila: Like I said, the least you know, the better.
Thomas: No, I wanna know.
Sheila: You know what? This is just gonna remain a mystery because I am not gonna tell you my methods.
Thomas: Sheila, tell me exactly what you did to brooke right now. Hi, I’m karen.
Zende: Has paris shown interest in other guys?
Grace: I don’t believe she’s seeing anyone.
Zende: Not that she doesn’t have every right to. Paris can do whatever she wants. She made it clear that she didn’t want to be exclusive with me.
Grace: But that could all change in a heartbeat, you never know.
Zende: Paris is aware that I’ve been out on some dates. She does not seem to mind.
Grace: My daughter has always been very popular and vibrant and self-assured, ever since she was a little girl singing in the choir.
[ Laughs ]
Zende: From choir to dodger games, huh?
Grace: Exactly. My girl is a force. And that may be intimidating to some men. But you, zende, you’re the kind of man that’s worthy of a woman like paris. And I don’t need to tell you. You already know. So don’t let her slip away. Make a move before it’s too late.
Thomas: How did you do it? How did you get brooke drunk?
Thomas: I’m not kidding. Tell me now.
Sheila: You know, it really doesn’t matter. What’s done is done and it isn’t going to change a thing.
Thomas: If you don’t tell me right now, I’m going to go straight to my father and tell him.
Sheila: You wouldn’t dare.
Thomas: Try me. I am done playing games. Spit it out.
Sheila: I really don’t like being backed into a corner. But, okay, you want to know? I’ll tell you. So I went to il giardino and I overheard brooke talking about how wonderful the non-alcoholic champagne was that eric served during christmas. She ordered a bottle to be delivered to her house for new year’s eve. And it got me thinking. So I bought a bottle of champagne that was real. And I switched the labels. Brooke didn’t have a clue.
Thomas: You switched the labels.
Sheila: Yeah, it really was some of my finest work.
Brooke: It just consumes me, this desperate need to understand what drove me to destroy my entire life.
Ridge: I know it’s killing you. It’s killing me too. But I’m not going to turn my back on you and the fight you’re in, the pain you’re feeling.
Brooke: I made such a mess of us. And I know that you have sympathy for me, at least the fact that I was drinking–
Ridge: It’s not sympathy. What do you say– no, I’m not here because of pity. I’m here because I love you. I’m concerned about you, despite everything that happened. I just wanted you to stand by me, defend me. Just– I’m not here for that. I– I just wish I could take the pain away.
Brooke: I wish you could, too. But because of the choices I made that night, because I drank, I wake up every morning without you. I’ve lost the person that I… I love more than life itself.
Grace: Don’t sit back and wait for life to happen. You’ve got to act now. If you want a future with paris, don’t wait. Or you might lose her forever.
[ Paris chuckles ]
Paris: Tell me if I’m saying this way too much but you really are amazing, carter.
Carter: No, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing you say that.
Paris: Good, ’cause pi have a feeling I’ll be saying it a lot.
Carter: And I don’t think I’ve ever met a woman so… spectacular in every way. But you’re trouble.
Paris: Oh, I’m the good kind of trouble.
Carter: Is there such a thing?
Paris: You’re looking at her. How about this? We do this justice and stay present and in the moment. I mean, what we just shared was beautiful. And I don’t want to take away from it. And I want to experience it again.
Brooke: No matter how many times I say, “I’m sorry,” I know it’ll never be enough.
Ridge: Well, you don’t have to apologize anymore.
Brooke: Well, I can’t help it, ridge. I mean, I am sorry. I messed up. I’ve– I’ve made terrible choices. And I can’t blame it all on the alcohol. I mean, I have to take some kind of responsibility. I’m the one who hurt you. I let you down. I can’t blame that on anybody else.
[ Brooke sighs ]
Thomas: Brooke was sabotaged. You used her alcoholism as a weapon against her.
Sheila: Yeah, well she had it coming. You have no idea the threats that she’s made against me, vowing to keep me away from my son.
Thomas: You can hate her all you want, sheila, but to plot revenge like this? To deliberately undermine a person’s sobriety?
Sheila: Yeah well, she had it coming. You know what? She– she’s hanging by a thread, by a very dirty, thin, little thread.
Thomas: My son was there. What if brooke had gotten behind the wheel? She would have been driving under the influence.
Sheila: Well, you know what? It didn’t happen. None of that happened. No one got hurt. Except for brooke… and her marriage that is suffering deeply.
Thomas: Stay away from brooke. You are not to mess with her any longer. You hear me?
Sheila: I just lit the match. Brooke’s the one that started the dumpster fire. She could have told deacon to leave but she didn’T. No. She put her lips on his, betraying your father and the vows that she made to him. This was her fault and now she’s paying the price. And it’s a price that can only benefit you, thomas! I know you want to see your parents back together again. And I know how much taylor adores ridge. And your sister has been trying so desperately to reunite them. And now that can happen, because of me.
Thomas: You went too far, sheila.
Sheila: No, it’s now or never. This is your chance to save your father, to rid him of brooke permanently. You don’t think that she’ll cheat on him again? Because, you know she will, and she doesn’t need my influence to do it. This is your chance to keep your family together. All you have to do is keep quiet. No one can know about this. Not taylor, ridge or brooke. They can never know about any of this. We have to keep this between us, thomas. This has to be our secret. And you’ve got to take it to your grave.
