Taylor: Did I hear you right? You, you want to be friends?
Brooke: I’d like to try. We spent so many years at odds with each other just fighting so much. Now maybe it’s time we follow our daughters’ examples and make peace. There’s no reason for us to be competitive anymore. We’re not rivals, taylor. We share grandchildren together. So, what do you say? Can we be friends?
Steffy: It has to cross your mind sometimes. What life would have been like, if you never left mom.
Ridge: Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. I know you’re excited that she’s here. I’m excited she’s here too. It’s very nice.
Steffy: It’s really nice to remember the good, old times.
Ridge: I do. I–you, me, thomas, phoebe and yes, taylor. Those are… those are amazing memories for me, but I’m with brooke. It’s good and we’re going to work it out. This– it doesn’t matter what deacon throws at us.
Sheila: Every single time you open your mouth, it’s just more bad news.
Deacon: Hey, come on. Where’s that psycho “I get what I want attitude?”
Sheila: You know taylor coming back might be good for you, but it’s just going to make it that much harder for me to connect with my son.
Deacon: Okay, number one, I told you, I don’t care that taylor’s back in town. Okay. I just thought you’d want to know. And number two–
Sheila: Are you kidding me? I mean, here comes ridge’s very supportive ex, to take his side. You’ve got to be giddy about this.
Deacon: I think you’re assuming a lot.
Sheila: You’re drinking those fake beers for the logan ladies. Please. You want brooke so bad, you’re not even letting yourself think about it? Taylor could be the key to make this happen.
Deacon: You’re way off base. I’m not wishing for brooke’s marriage to implode.
Sheila: You are telling me, you haven’t written to santa asking for a future with brooke and hope?
Deacon: No. But if you don’t lay off, I’m going to make sure he puts you on the naughty list. Unless, of course, you’re already a lifetime member.
Sheila: Ah, bah-humbug.
Deacon: See. See, now that’s the kind of attitude that’s going to get you a stocking full of coal.
Sheila: You know, this is the, the first christmas that I’d be able to spend it with my son. And the only gift that I really want is to… to spend it with him.
Steffy: I wanted our family together for so long. And I’m not trying to put you on the spot. I’m just thrilled that mom’s back and I know you are too.
Ridge: I am. It’s a wonderful surprise. It’s going to make the holidays very special.
Steffy: Mom sure does love christmas.
Ridge: She always made it magical for you guys.
Finn: Hey.
Steffy: Hi.
Finn: Hey. Wow. Look at that smile. Pam tell you I was on my way up?
Steffy: Hi.
Finn: Or does something else I have you in a good mood?
Steffy: I’m just enjoying the holiday magic. It’s my favorite time of year. And now that mom’s back, it makes it even better.
Brooke: Just imagine the message it would send to our children if we were to get along. They would be so thrilled, knowing that they inspired us.
Taylor: All right. So, if steffy and hope can be friendly, then maybe we can too.
Brooke: Exactly. I mean, steffy has a new life with finn. And hope and liam and the children, they’re all back together and they’re very happy. And it’s just nice to know that that tug of war is finally over. For good this time. So, I don’t see why we can’t do the same. These little cups would make
Sheila: What? You don’t think I can be sentimental?
Deacon: Even if you could, I’m not sure that’s something I’d want to see.
Sheila: Just because I have no one to spend the holidays with, it doesn’t mean that I dislike them.
Deacon: You just don’t seem like the festive type to me.
Sheila: Holidays are kind of painful for me, deacon. And I think of finn. Thanksgiving, christmas, his birthday. Oh, I just wish I could have seen that beautiful little face, you know. Hanging ornaments, opening up presents. And then as he got older, I just kind of followed him online. Watching him become a doctor, and being honored for it.
Deacon: Online? So, you weren’t hiding in the audience at graduation?
Sheila: No.
Deacon: Saved that little scare for his wedding day, right?
Sheila: I just thought it was time for him to get to know me. To see where he came from.
Deacon: That is a heartwarming story.
Sheila: It could be. If steffy and the rest of her family would… just let me see my son, you know. Get into the christmas spirit. Maybe be a little kinder.
Deacon: It’s a nice thought, you know, peace on earth and all that, but I just don’t see it happening.
Sheila: Why do you do this to me? Am I being negative about you and hope?
Deacon: I’m just trying to be realistic. You know, I just don’t see you being included in christmas with finn and steffy.
Steffy: It feels right for all of us to be together for the holidays.
Finn: I thought your mom hasn’t been able to get home these last few years.
Steffy: Yeah, we didn’t want her to feel bad for that because she was doing important work.
Ridge: Don’t forget that you’re important to her too. You, thomas, grandchildren.
Finn: They adore her. Kelly is just so thrilled to have her grandma home.
Steffy: So thrilled. And hayes. He’s changing every day, and I just don’t want her to miss out on time with them. Because you know that I had such an amazing bond with my grandmother.
Ridge: Yeah. My mother and you– you had an incredible relationship.
Steffy: And I just want that for mom, kelly and hayes. You know, for them to really know her and create memories with her. That’s why I’m really glad that she’s sticking around.
Ridge: Me too.
Steffy: Have you told her that? You try to encourage her to make this visit more comfortable.
Ridge: Let her make her own decision, please? She–she’ll do it in her own time. It’s okay.
Finn: Just… enjoy this time. Be thankful that your mom is home and here with you for christmas.
Taylor: This trip has already been different for me.
Brooke: How so?
Taylor: The conversations I’m having. This one, for instance.
Brooke: We’ve all changed taylor.
Taylor: Yeah, especially my grandchildren. I’m so used to seeing them on video.
Brooke: Douglas loves your video calls. He tells us all the time. He tells us what you’re doing, where you’re going, where you’ve been.
Taylor: He has a map. He puts stickers everywhere that I’ve been.
Brooke: It’s good you found a way to stay connected.
Taylor: Yes. But it’s not the same as being here. Getting hugs and kisses, being able to hold hayes.
Brooke: Yeah, I know what you mean. I get to see my grandchildren every day, but I still never take it for granted.
Taylor: That’s been hard for me, knowing that douglas has been getting more hugs from you than his actual grandmother.
Brooke: Well, if it’s hugs you want, you’ll get plenty of them. Because douglas is very excited to see you. He couldn’t stop talking about it when I was tucking him in bed last night.
Taylor: Hope–hope and liam weren’t home?
Brooke: No. I mean, sometimes they work late. You know, or maybe they go to an event or something. It’s easy for me to fill in.
Taylor: Yeah, with beth, yes. But douglas can be with his father.
Brooke: I’m grateful to hope for stepping up and being a mother figure to him. But… thomas is better now. And professionally speaking, I think it would be good for douglas to spend more time with his father. What do you think?
Brooke: I think it’s important for children to have a relationship with their father. So, I guess you heard.
Taylor: Deacon’s back.
Brooke: Mm-hmm. Hope and deacon are very excited about getting to know each other.
Taylor: You sound okay with that?
Brooke: It’s what hope wants. So yes, I support her.
Taylor: Ridge doesn’t want that. Ridge has a huge issue with deacon. I understand why.
Brooke: Okay. Ridge and I don’t always see eye to eye when it comes to the children. But you know what? We always work through it.
Taylor: I hope you do. Motrin works fast to stop pain where it starts.
Taylor: You and ridge have become experts at navigating the challenges in your marriage.
Brooke: We wouldn’t have made it this far if we hadn’T. And quite frankly, we probably never would have been together at all.
Taylor: You two had obstacles from the very beginning.
Brooke: One in particular.
Taylor: Stephanie?
Brooke: I miss her.
Taylor: Me too.
Brooke: We made life very difficult for each other for a very long time. But in the end, we realized that any two people could have a friendship.
Taylor: She was one of the most… wise and resilient people I’ve ever met. And no one protected her family as fiercely as she did.
Brooke: Oh, that is so true. And she was so strong and stubborn and opinionated. And she always had her favorites. She always believed that you were the one and only woman for ridge.
Taylor: She just wanted him to be happy.
Brooke: Until she realized that he was happy. She wanted you to be happy, too. She was so proud of you. She was so… she admired you so much, taylor. All the work that you did and how you helped people all around the world. So, what’s next? Where and when is your next adventure?
Sheila: It’s your turn to be scrooge.
Deacon: I just respect you too much to play into this whole holiday fantasy of yours.
Sheila: Finn is not going to let me spend christmas alone in my hotel room.
Deacon: Okay, finn doesn’t make the guest list for the forrester compound. I mean, face it. He can’t even get you into his own house.
Sheila: Yeah, it’s because of steffy. She’s keeping me away from him.
Deacon: Yeah. And now she’s got her mother to help build the barricade. Her mother, who you shot. The christmas spirit is powerful, sheila, but I don’t think it has enough juice to overcome that.
Sheila: Yeah, well, I don’t need magic. I just want to see my son. And I want to tell him how much I love him and my grandson. I’m not going to let this go.
Deacon: Okay, what are you doing?
Shelia: I am texting finn and letting him know… I want to see him for christmas.
Ridge: Well, I have a meeting to get to.
Steffy: You should come by the house later.
Ridge: All right, I’ll see you over the holidays.
Steffy: You don’t want to help us get ready? We’re going to be decorating and baking cookies.
Ride: Your mother loves doing those things. Have a wonderful time. See ya.
Finn: See ya, ridge. How is your, um, your mom with wrapping presents?
Steffy: She’s a pro, why?
Finn: I could use a hand with mine.
Steffy: What? You’re an emergency room doctor and you don’t know how to tie a ribbon?
Finn: No, I’m great at it. It’s just I may have gone a little overboard with the shopping. So, is that bad?
Steffy: Well, it depends how many presents are for me.
[ Phone dinging ] What? It’s sheila, isn’t it? What does she want?
Finn: She wants to see me at christmas.
Steffy: Oh. Did you know some deodorants may not last all day?
Sheila: Finn, he just doesn’t always respond right away.
Deacon: Or the way you want him to.
Sheila: I asked to see him, that’s all.
Deacon: At christmas.
Sheila: That’s what you do at christmas. You see your family.
Deacon: If you’ve never tried to murder them.
Sheila: What? Do you think that hope’s family is just going to open their arms, maybe. And hang a good old “dad” stocking above their mantel for you?
Deacon: Sheila, I’m in a different place with my kid.
Sheila: Yeah, but the only way I’m going to get anywhere with finn is if I keep trying.
Deacon: Knock yourself out. I–I’m just afraid you’re going to wind up having a blue christmas.
Steffy: Sheila wants to see you on christmas? Like family.
Finn: That’s what the text says.
Steffy: Of course she wants to see you. Well, sure, she’s going to have a carload full of toys for hayes.
Finn: She didn’t mention hayes.
Steffy: It’s a ploy. She’s going to use him to guilt trip you into seeing her.
Finn: I wouldn’t let her do that.
Steffy: Baby, I am sorry. I know this is really complicated for you. She is your birth mother. It’s christmas. But my mom is in town. She just got here. She wants to see the kids and get to know them and play with them. The last thing my mom should be thinking about is the woman who shot her.
Finn: I understand. It’s not something I want to think about either.
Taylor: So, what am i doing next?
Brooke: Right now, you’re enjoying the holidays and taking a much needed break from all your hard work.
Taylor: Yeah. It just it sounds like you’re asking me when I’m going to get back to it.
Brooke: Nah, I’m not pushing you out of here. I’m sure your kids want to spend some time with you.
Taylor: Yeah, but I– I haven’t made any firm plans yet.
Brooke: I see.
Taylor: Oh, wow. That is the first time I’ve been able to say that, in I don’t know how long. I’ve been going from project to project for years and my work has taken me all over the world. But–but my kids and grandkids are here.
Brooke: Well, it’s good to take some time to see them and catch up with them.
Taylor: I think I’m going to stay.
Brooke: You have a lot of memories here, taylor.
Taylor: And I think that it would be good for my future too. Thank you, brooke, for coming by. For reaching out. I learned something when I was overseas doing work about the… the importance of forgiveness and letting go. I’ve seen it heal wounds and– and bring peace. And it’s especially poignant when you’re working with people who are facing insurmountable challenges. And I’ve seen a lot of joy too, but it’s the horrible suffering and the, and the hardships that we want to turn away from and we want to shield ourselves from. But when we do that, we… we miss out on the truth. The indomitable power and beauty of the human spirit.
Brooke: We don’t realize how lucky we really are. And how much we rely on each other.
Taylor: Yeah, it’s a shame that… we only do that at this time of year.
Brooke: Speaking of this time of year, the holidays. You’re going to join us going over to eric’s, right?
Taylor: No. Thank you for the invite, but, um… I’m going to be spending the holidays with my daughter and finn. And my grandchildren.
Brooke: Okay. That sounds wonderful. But, you know, you’re always welcome. The more the merrier. I got to go.
Taylor: Brooke. I-I never answered your question earlier about, you know, all the back and forth over all these years and being rivals, all that. Can we be friends? I’d like to think we can.
