At the hospital, Ashley got a shock when Derek was wheeled into the emergency room. He was in a biking accident. When Madison asked where his pain was, he said he couldn’t feel his legs. Ashley admitted that she loved Derek when he was going to surgery. She said she tried to move on but it didn’t work. Later on, Madison told Ashley that the surgery went well, but Derek may never walk again. Despite Leslie interrupting her, Peaches told her that her mother was a talented young singer whose life was cut short. She told Leslie that her mother never talked about the father. Peaches said her mother didn’t want children so she chose to raise her. She assured Leslie that her mother loved her but knew giving her up was for the best. While Peaches was talking about Leslie’s mother, she said her mother committed suicide. Peaches ended up telling Leslie that Barbara was her mother and that she was entitled to an inheritance.

Nicole had a divorce party with Dani and Vanessa. Ted and Andre talked about their problems. Andre wondered what he did wrong with Ashley. Ted said he missed Nicole. Andre told Ted to fight for the woman he loved. Ted thought he might have had a chance. Sharon and Tracy asked Anita if she wanted to go on tour with them, but Anita turned them down. Anita said she was glad they were able to deal with the pain of the past and move on to a better future. After they left, Anita told Vernon that she should have reached out to Barbara’s family so someone from her family could have represented her.

Eva was shocked to find out that Leslie was in debt for $10,000. Leslie wanted Eva to get the money from Ted. When Eva left, she got a surprise when a woman named Peaches showed up claiming she was the only mother Leslie knew. While they were talking, it was revealed that Leslie stole a man from Peaches. Peaches said she wasn’t there to remind her of what she did. She said she was trying to get in touch with Leslie because she’s dying and thought it was time for her to know who her real mother was. Kat met up with Chelsea to talk about her sex life with Tomas. She told Chelsea that she wasn’t gay or asexual, but questioned if she waited too long to have sex. Ted was upset when he saw Nicole having dinner with Carlton. When Ted was about to go to their table, Anita interrupted. Anita and Vernon let Ted know that he hasn’t spent much time saving his marriage as he has been building a relationship with the child that ruined it. Ted wanted to talk to Nicole. When Carlton left, Ted confronted Nicole about moving on with his co-worker. Anita and Vernon showed up and made Ted leave.

June told Naomi that the reunion with her children was going to be a disaster. She told Naomi that her dreams didn’t come true. June said she would rather disappoint the children by not meeting them than see how they would react to her. She said she remembered the good times as well as the night everything went wrong and decided they were better off without her. After Naomi fixed her up, June liked what she saw. Smitty and Martin were afraid they would lose the kids. Martin told a shocked Smitty that he was in therapy. He told Smitty that he wanted to be a better man than the one he married. Later on, Naomi and June showed up. Tyrell and Samantha expressed their anger towards June. She told them that she gave them up so they could have a better life. June asked if there might be room in the picture for her. Smitty and Martin told her they needed to talk in private about it. Tyrell didn’t want June in their lives while Samantha thought their mother wanted to be in their lives. Martin told Smitty that he should move back in for the sake of the children. Before Smitty could say anything, Tyrell and Samantha came in and said they had a decision about June.

Smitty thought game night was fun, but he and Martin had a long way to go before they could reconcile. The couple started arguing when Naomi called telling them she needed to meet with them immediately. Jacob and Naomi arrived and announced that they found Tyrell and Samantha’s biological mother. Martin and Smitty were shocked, but they didn’t want to meet June. Samantha and Tyrell heard the end of their conversation. Their parents assured them that they would decide the path forward. Samantha was leaning towards meeting their mother, but Tyrell didn’t want to meet the woman who abandoned them. After they talked it out, they decided to meet June. Tomas and Kat had another intimate encounter. He enjoyed having sex with her, but she didn’t seem too thrilled about it. Tomas wanted to have sex again, but she didn’t seem enthusiastic about it.

Chelsea and Madison were at the country club and talked about their relationship. They were struggling to get on the same page. Chelsea and Madison got on the same page when Allison arrived. Allison had a business proposition for Chelsea, but she turned her down. Madison left the table to take a phone call. Allison sat down and told her about the way Craig treated her. Chelsea advised her to move out and get therapy. She told her to talk to friends and to stop coming to her with her problems. When Madison came back to the table Allison warned her that Chelsea would break her heart. Chelsea threatened to get a restraining order if she didn’t leave her alone. Allison continued to spy on them when they kissed each other. Leslie called about the inheritance and hung up the phone when the person asked about her birthday and social security number. She told Eva to stop believing that she’s inheriting a lot of money. Eva was tired of hearing Leslie’s drama and ripped into her. Their argument became intense. Eva admitted that she loved Nicole and hated what their antics did Ted and his family.

Hayley told Bill that she wanted to go to the hospital to find out if they could try for another baby. When they went to the hospital, the doctor told them Hayley’s recovery was going well so they could try for another baby within three months if they wanted to. Hayley told Bill that she was blessed to have him in her life despite losing their child. She said she wanted to have a baby for them. Eva went to Leslie’s place with groceries. While Leslie was going through the bills there was a letter about an inheritance. Leslie thought the letter was a scam. Eva called Tomas to find out what he thought about it. He told Eva that her mother was probably right about the letter being a scam. Tomas said there could be something to the letter. Later on, Eva told Leslie that the letter could be real, but Leslie didn’t believe it. Eva said it could be like a lottery ticket. She said Tomas said to call but make sure not to give out too much information in case it was a scam. Leslie called the number and the letter appeared to be real.

Regina met with Naomi and Jacob at Orphey Gene’s so they could talk about June. She told them nothing changed when it came to June. Regina didn’t want any part of Naomi finding out information about June’s children. She gave them June’s things. Naomi suggested that Regina give June her belongings. She was able to get Regina and June to reunite with each other. The letter that was in the belongings was about June’s kids. It said that she called CPS to keep her children safe. Regina was happy that June made a sacrifice for the children. June told Naomi that she could look into the closed adoption. Regina wanted June to stay with her. Samantha tried to push her parents back together by sending Martin a message to bring food to the house. Smitty said he didn’t send Martin the text. Samantha said she was the one who sent the text. Martin and Smitty agreed to have dinner. While they were eating, they ended up arguing. Later on, things were better between them. Jacob told Naomi that Tyrell and Samantha were June’s children.

Dani found Andre on her couch thinking about the future. He wanted to settle down with someone, but they both knew it wouldn’t be with her. Andre continued to comfort her. Dani would miss his comforting nature more than the sex they had together. She wished him and Ashley well. Dani admitted that she didn’t mean that. Her parents taught her manners. She left to talk to Bill. Hayley was resting upstairs when Dani arrived at the house. Dani apologized and took full responsibility for what happened to Hayley. Bill didn’t think an argument with Hayley would cause a miscarriage. Bill became emotional and thought it would be his chance to make up for the mistakes he made with Naomi and Chelsea. He started crying softly so Dani comforted him. Hayley walked in the room and saw Dani comforting her husband. Dani apologized for everything that happened including accusing her of faking her pregnancy. Hayley thought her timing was perfect because she was too tired to read her for filth. After Dani left, Hayley admitted to Bill that she didn’t know if she could go through that again. Bill believed they could still have a family. He wanted to put money away from the baby’s college fund. Dani arrived at the Dupree family home and saw Nicole. She talked to her about what happened with Hayley. Dani questioned how Nicole could love her. While the sisters were talking, Dani admitted that she was still in love with Bill. Her feelings for Bill became stronger when he broke down about the loss of the baby.

Ashley and Jan talked about her love life. She admitted to her mother that she and Andre weren’t getting together. Ashley planned on being alone. Jan was happy to hear that. A few minutes later, Andre arrived to see Ashley. He had a gift ready for Ashley. Andre gave her a picture to remind her of their night in “Paris.” He told her that he broke up with the woman he was seeing. Ashley told him that they couldn’t be together. Andre couldn’t believe she wanted to end things before they got started. He walked away feeling upset and disappointed. Anita caught Vernon trying to sneak out of the house. He said he had meetings and had to leave. Anita told Nicole that she believed Vernon was up to something. The mother and daughter duo talked about the concert. Anita forgave herself for what happened to Barbara. Later Anita met with Vernon. They met with Vernon’s longtime friend (Devon Hamilton from Y & R). Devon was in town to make an offer to Anita. Anita said she didn’t have the time to create an album. She wanted him to make the offer to Tracy and Sharon instead. Anita suggested they do another Articulettes song. She wanted to include Barbara’s vocals on the track. They hugged after she made her suggestion. Devon ran into Dani. She looked at him as if something happened between them.

Bill was upset that Hayley lost the baby. When Bill left to get Hayley some tea, Naomi asked if her father was mourning a baby that never existed. Hayley said the baby was real but the ultrasound wasn’t. Naomi didn’t believe her. Hayley told her that she was afraid to get the ultrasound because it might prove that something was wrong with the baby. She wondered if the ultrasound would have saved her baby. Naomi agreed not to say anything to her father. When Bill came back, Naomi didn’t say anything. She ended up leaving. Bill let Hayley know that it wasn’t her fault. Jan told Derek to reunite with Ashley. She advised him to fight for Ashley. Derek listened to Jan’s advice. Later on, he went to Ashley’s apartment. He asked her for another chance. Derek tried to convince Ashley that he was the one for her. He said he wouldn’t keep going back and forth and wanted to know if it was going to be now or never. Later on, Derek went to Uptown and told Jan that Ashley chose Andre.

Dani went to see Andre to tell him that she caused Hayley to lose her baby. She called Bill to find out what was going on with the baby. It was confirmed that Hayley lost the baby. Dani called herself a monster for causing Hayley to lose her baby. Andre said he didn’t believe that Dani wanted to hurt the baby. He said it wasn’t her fault and that Hayley came looking for a fight. Dani hugged him but let go because she thought she was being selfish. She said she kept crossing the line of wanting and needing him. Dani said it couldn’t be take, take, take every time they’re together. They started kissing each other. Ashley walked in and saw them kissing. When Ashley left, Andre and Dani stopped kissing. Dani said she refused to use him. Andre said he would hold her all night because they were friends. Vanessa told Joey that his problem with Doug was gone. She said she told Doug about the bug in his car. While she was talking to Joey, Doug met up with Randy to talk about dealing with Joey. He said he couldn’t expose Joey without Vanessa going down so he said they had to aim higher. Doug wanted to connect Joey to Kenneth’s death. Randy said they would do it his way. He said Joey wouldn’t see it coming.

Hayley was in excruciating pain, but she didn’t want Dani to help her. She asked a stranger to take her to the hospital. The person turned out to be Randy. Dani called Bill to let him know that he couldn’t leave town because Hayley was rushed to the hospital. Ashley couldn’t violate HIPPA by telling everything about Hayley so Naomi tried to get the info without using names. Naomi wondered why the woman rejected the ultrasound. She remembered that her father showed her the ultrasound. Randy returned to Uptown and told Dani that Hayley didn’t want her at the hospital and her. Dani thought Randy looked familiar so he tried to cover his tracks and left. Elon questioned Joey about the dead guy in the park. They both knew who the man was in the park. Elon asked Joey if he put a hit on the guy. Joey informed him that he wasn’t going down alone. Elon told him that the investigation was shut down. They agreed to go their separate ways. Jacob walked in and saw them shaking hands. He accused his father of looking the other way where Joey is concerned. Elon reminded him about the times he overlooked the Duprees crimes.

Doug was drinking and warned Vanessa that Joey was dangerous. Vanessa informed him that Joey had the car bugged. She was worried about him. Vanessa said she loved him. Doug told her to stop laundering for Joey before he goes down and takes her with him. Naomi wondered why Hayley faked a sonogram. Ashley revealed that Dani thought Hayley was faking her pregnancy. Naomi thought Hayley could have lived her life as a gold digger without faking a pregnancy. Vanessa told Joey that she convinced Doug to back off. Doug bought a new phone to call Randy. He was shocked that he was still in town. Naomi went to Bill’s place to confront Hayley. She told Naomi that she felt better. Naomi wanted to know why she lied about the ultrasound. Before she could answer, Bill walked in the room. Hayley announced that she lost the baby.

Dani wanted Pamela to meet her at the club. She talked to her about Ashley being with Andre. Dani felt like Ashley should stay away from Andre. A man like Andre would destroy Ashley’s mind. Dani didn’t have a problem with Ashley. She just wanted her to stay away from Andre. Hayley had a cryptic conversation on the phone with someone. She wanted the person to keep what she said a secret. Caroline walked in the room while Hayley said to keep it a secret. She thought quickly and told her that it was a surprise for Bill’s birthday. Hayley managed to get Caroline to help with her plan. Dani and Pamela talked Bill and Hayley’s relationship. She told Pamela about Hayley being a golddigger when Hayley walked in the club. Dani and Hayley got into a heated argument. While they were arguing, Hayley grabbed her stomach and walked off. Dani said bad things about her, and the baby that didn’t exist. Pamela told her that she would never forgive herself if something happened to Hayley’s baby. Hayley walked back in the room bloody. She screamed that something was wrong with her baby. Ashley left a message for Naomi to meet her so they could talk about her date with Andre. After she hung up the phone, Andre showed up. Ashley broke up with him even though they weren’t technically a couple. She told him that he wasn’t the type of man to settle down, and they kissed each other. After they kissed, he said it was time for him to talk to Dani. Andre wanted something real. He believed he had a future with Ashley.

Derek and Shanice ran into each other at Orphey Gene’s. They had chemistry, but she didn’t want problems with Ashley at the hospital. Shanice felt she was too good to play games. She refused to be an afterthought. Derek admitted that he was wrong to ask her to go along with his plan. They agreed to start fresh. Bill was about to go to Atlanta when Naomi arrived. She asked him if he killed anyone lately. He tried to brush off her sarcastic comment, but it didn’t work. Bill admitted what actually happened. He said he would do anything to protect the people he loved. Bill believed he and Dani did a good job raising her if she couldn’t believe what he did. They talked about Hayley’s accident. She hated Hayley, but the baby was innocent. Later Naomi went to see Ashley. They talked Naomi wanted to put her career first. Naomi wasn’t interested in having babies. Speaking of babies, Naomi mentioned Hayley’s second ultrasound. She noticed the look on Ashely’s face when she mentioned it. Naomi demanded that she tell her what she knew.

When Hayley wanted to give Bill breakfast, she fell over a box. Bill wanted to take her to the hospital, but Hayley was determined not to go. He said he was making an appointment for her and wanted to be there with her. Bill also said he was going to be there for the ultrasound. Ted ripped into Doug for almost messing up a surgery. He told Doug that there could be a malpractice suit. Doug told him that he couldn’t fire him because he quit. Ted tried to convince Doug to stay at the hospital. Doug threw up in Ted’s face that Nicole kicked him out of the house. Nicole overheard Vanessa talking to her accountant. While Vanessa was talking, Joey’s name came up. Nicole wanted to know what was going on between Vanessa and Joey.

When Nicole left, Doug called Vanessa and said he would be the king of laundering if she was going to be the queen. He said he would do it by using what he knew about Joey. Vanessa left to meet Joey. He told her that he bugged Doug’s car and knew everything. Joey said he found out that Doug thought he was going to blackmail him  and that she was lying to him. Vanessa said she would keep her husband in line. They ended up kissing. Nicole met up with Carlton. They talked about the concert as well as their fears. Carlton made Nicole laugh. While they were talking, Ted showed up to make sure Nicole was okay after what happened with Leslie. Nicole let him know she was okay.

Anita talked to the audience about the Articulettes. She did a tribute to Barbara with help from Andre. Dani shocked everyone when she kissed him in front of everyone. The crowd went crazy. Sharon forgave Anita for everything. Anita, Sharon, and Tracy had an emotional moment on stage. After the show, Smitty let Martin and the kids know that he would try to make it to the party. Leslie crashed the afterparty with Eva in tow. Kat stopped them from getting inside the party. Eva wanted her mother to leave the party. Leslie finally agreed to leave but warned Eva that she could jump over any obstacle. Eva cut her off so she didn’t hear the rest of her threat. Nicole heard that the afterparty had crashers and headed to Orphey Gene’s. She approached Leslie while Eva asked her mother to dial back the drama with Nicole. Nicole argued with Leslie. Eva tried to keep the peace between the ladies. She said that her mother was a fan of the Articulettes. Nicole planned to get her an autographed vinyl copy of their album so she could shove it somewhere she wouldn’t like.

Smitty shocked everyone when he showed up for the afterparty. He let Anita know that he wasn’t ready to forgive her or Vernon yet. Smitty did understand that they did it because they loved Martin. He saw Martin, and they had a conversation. It didn’t really help things between them. Chelsea wasn’t sure what to call Andre now that he’s with her mother. She warned him not to hurt her mother. He was spared when Madison showed up for the afterparty. Madison was starstruck when she met Anita. Anita gave her blessing to their relationship. Dani wanted Andre to take her home from the party. Samantha and Tyrell had a strange conversation which leads to them possibly being June’s children. They never want to take their fathers for granted. Jim (Anita’s manager) wanted Anita to pursue her career, but she wasn’t interested. She wanted to stay home and asked him to focus on Sharon and Tracy’s careers.

The Articulettes were nervous about the show. Leslie told Eva that she was upset about not having tickets to the show. She blamed Ted for why she didn’t have tickets. When Eva went to the bathroom, Leslie looked through her pocketbook and stole a credit card to pay for her bill. She also stole the tickets Ted gave her. Shanice and Ashley talked about Derek and Andre not having tickets to the concert. Nicole let everyone know that Martin and Smitty were going to the concert. Samantha thought it was a good sign for her parents. Kat was glad that Martin and Smitty didn’t break up because of an affair.

Doug let Vanessa know that he wasn’t going to the concert with her. He said he was done with pretending that they were happy. Vanessa told him to stop drinking, gambling, and blurting things out at the worst time or she wouldn’t be able to keep him safe. Doug ended up giving Shanice his ticket so she could go with Vanessa. At the theater, Naomi and Smitty talked about the secrets they were keeping from their spouses. Everyone was shocked when Leslie showed up. Vernon warned Leslie not to ruin the night. Eva tried to stop Leslie from saying anything. The concert went underway. Derek and Ashley went for coffee. While they were talking, Derek promised not to give up on them if she gave him another chance. Ashley said they were over and that she needed to move on.

Anita talked to Sharon and Tracy about being offered a solo at the concert. She said she missed the jazzy side of her that she gave up when her daughters were little. Sharon and Tracy were supportive of Anita doing a solo performance. While she was talking, Sharon suggested that they all have a solo performance unless Anita thought they would be stealing her thunder. Anita said she would love for them to have a solo performance, but Tracy said she was a background singer. Tracy said Anita earned her spotlight and told Sharon that they should let Anita have her time. Martin wasn’t sure if he wanted to go to the reunion concert. Dani called him out and said he needed to support the family. She said he had everyone walking around like they would shatter him they said the wrong thing. Dani understood what he was going through and said he could go back to being depressed when it was over. Martin agreed to go to the concert.

Nicole went to see Smitty. She said Smitty and Martin were the strongest couple in the family. Smitty said he always thought the same thing about her and Ted. He told her the break up didn’t come out of nowhere. He said he and Martin had plenty of fights leading to their break up. Nicole asked if he felt better knowing how upset Martin was about what happened. Smitty said it didn’t work because Martin lied to him for two years. He said Martin should feel guilty. Nicole let him know that Martin wasn’t the one orchestrating the cover up. Smitty said he was mad at Vernon and company. He said he was afraid of what would come next. Smitty wasn’t sure if Joey would call in a favor one day in the future. Nicole understood how he felt after what she went through with Leslie because of Ted’s secret. She said there were times when she could see things from Ted’s point of view, but their situations were different. Nicole said Ted chose to have an affair while Martin had a terrible situation forced on him. Smitty asked how he could live with a man he didn’t trust. He said he was hurt by Martin’s secrets. Nicole said Martin kept it a secret to maintain Smitty’s innocence. Smitty said he knew that logically, but the pain wasn’t logical. Nicole said going to the concert was the first step. Smitty agreed to go after he talked to Martin. Later on, Smitty asked Martin how he would feel about him going to the concert. He said he would be doing it to support Anita. At Orphey Gene’s, Vernon confronted Andre for having an affair with Dani. He asked Andre what his intentions were with Dani. Andre said he would be grateful for any time Dani allowed him to see her. While they were talking, Vernon warned Andre not to give him any reason not to like him. Anita walked in the living room to find Tracy practicing the choreography while Sharon was by the window. Sharon was having trouble breathing. Anita and Tracy wanted to know what was going on, but Sharon wouldn’t answer. When Sharon was able to speak, she told Anita and Tracy that she couldn’t do this and ran out.

Anita was nervous about the reunion tour. With everything going on with her family, she didn’t want to fall on her face. Her agent arrived and had a proposition for her. He wanted her to perform a solo song at the concert. Anita didn’t want to do that because she wanted the focus on the group. Chelsea arrived at Dupree manor and saw The Articulettes rehearsing without Anita. She was excited to see them until she looked at their costumes. Chelsea found a nice way to say their outfits were classics. She thought they had to change their outfits if they wanted to attract a younger crowd. Sharon and Tracy went to her for advice. They were concerned because they didn’t talk to Anita first. Chelsea thought her grandmother would love the outfits she picked for them. She talked to Tracy and Sharon about how they remained close for so many years. Anita saw them together and loved the changes Chelsea made with the outfits. She thanked the ladies for giving her a chance to make things right. Anita wished Barbara were there too. Sharon thought they had to let go of a lot of baggage if they were going to succeed. Tracy felt they all played a part in what went wrong with the group. Anita told them about her agent’s idea for her to perform a solo song. She told him no, but she asked the others what they thought. Naomi went to see Dani, and they talked about Martin’s secret. She felt guilty about keeping a big secret from Jacob especially since Bill was connected to a murder. Dani was shocked by the news. She didn’t know how to feel about it. Naomi told her why they kept Dani in the dark about what happened, and she understood. She felt bad because it would affect Naomi’s relationship with Jacob.

Nicole and Martin started their session. She tried to help him understand that his helplessness was a result of everyone deciding for him. Martin understood what she was saying to him. He wanted to know how he could get his marriage back on track. Nicole told him it would take baby steps. She advised him not to rush things. Dani arrived and interrupted their session. She had clothes for the concert. Nicole forgot about the concert. She and Martin weren’t really up for going to it. Nicole wasn’t really concerned about their mother’s feelings at the moment. Dani guilted her into going to the show. Kat wanted Samantha to do social media content, but she wasn’t really up for it after what happened with her parents. She wondered why she was just hearing about Martin and Smitty’s marital problems. Samantha said she was preoccupied with by her job and relationship with Tomas. Naomi showed up too and offered an extra shoulder for Samantha to cry on. Samantha thought the Duprees should stop falling in love. Tyrell tried to convince Smitty to go to the Articulettes concert. He said Anita would notice if he wasn’t there. Vernon showed up to talk to Smitty. He felt they were long overdue for a conversation. June and Regina weren’t happy to see each other. Regina said June couldn’t live with her. June called her a snake. Regina showed June a picture of her children. June took the phone from her and said the picture was a random one she found on the street. Regina was shocked that June didn’t recognize her children. June denied having children. Regina said June abandoned them. She told June that the kids deserved better, but she treated them like garbage. Regina ripped into June and said she did everything she could for her and the kids. June walked out of Orphey Gene’s. Regina told Naomi and Jacob that June always does this. They asked Regina questions about June, but she didn’t want to answer anymore. She told them not to call her again. Andre and Ashley spent time together on their date. He asked her about her personal interests. She said she didn’t really have any interests. Ashley said Derek had a future for them planned, but she was glad she got out of that. Andre talked about how losing his parents taught him not to take things for granted.

At the casino, Joey was upset that he lost a bidding war over a building he wanted. Vanessa said they could counter bid, but a war would draw attention to their partnership. Joey changed the subject and said they needed to speed things up with their other project. He said he wanted to double the money flowing through her reality company. Vanessa didn’t know if she should be flattered or scared. While they were talking, they made out until Doug walked in. Doug wanted to know what they were talking about. Joey told him to leave, but Doug refused. Doug told Vanessa that he could gamble since the money was going to her company. Joey and Vanessa wanted Doug to leave, but Doug chose to stay. When Doug refused to leave, Joey threatened him. Doug told Joey that he would tell his friends in the police department about his deeds. He told Joey that he liked games. When Doug left, Joey wanted one of his men to plant a bug on Doug. Eva told Ted that she wouldn’t tell Kat or Nicole about the money he gave her. Ted asked her if Kat caused her to miss the accreditation renewal. Eva said Kat did cause it. She said if she needed to let go of things if she wanted Kat to let go. Ted said Kat crossed the line for the last time. Eva went to Leslie’s apartment and asked her why she felt the need to tell on Kat. Leslie said somebody needed to do something to Kat. She said there were consequences for Kat’s actions. Eva said she didn’t want to fight with Kat anymore. Leslie said the fight had just begun. She said Eva and Kat would be battling for the rest of their lives. After Leslie got the money, she said she wanted more. Leslie said this was the first of many loans she wanted from Ted. Eva decided to leave the apartment without telling Leslie where she was going. Kat went to see Ted. She told him that Leslie went too far when she tried to get Nicole arrested. Kat said the charges were dropped, but Eva and Leslie were still trying to cause trouble. Ted said Kat was the one who kept involving herself in Eva’s life. He said the games needed to end. Ted said she didn’t have to like Eva, but she needed to leave her alone.

Shanice noticed that Ashley treated her differently since she started seeing Derek. She understood that breakups were hard. Ashley assured her that she was over Derek. She was shocked by how quickly Shanice jumped on going out with him. Shanice never hid the fact that she was into him, but she was willing to step back to make things peaceful at work. She didn’t believe that Ashley was over Derek. Ashley swore that he was in the past. Shanice wondered who helped her get over him. Andre showed up while they were talking. Shanice walked away so they could talk. He was there to visit a friend who had an appointment with Ted. Ashley thought she was probably a gorgeous model. Andre noticed that she seemed jealous. They flirted with each other, and he asked her out. Ashley wondered why someone who works with gorgeous models would want her. He was interested in her. Kat regretted having sex with Tomas. He thought their first time was special, but she thought it was something. Tomas asked her about her feelings. She admitted that it was lovely. He wasn’t happy about her answer, but he couldn’t stay to talk. Chelsea arrived and wanted to talk about work. She noticed the condom wrapper and put two and two together. Chelsea wanted to know what it felt like for her. Kat hated every minute of it. Chelsea explained to her that the first time isn’t great for everyone. Kat said Tomas was a gentleman, but she was the problem. She thought she was broken. Chelsea advised Kat to talk to Tomas about her feelings. If he’s the one, then he would understand her feelings.

Eva and Leslie reminisced about old times. She noticed they were getting along and waited for the shoe to drop. Eva felt like she was getting hustled. Leslie gave her the check and told her that waitressing jobs were hard to come by. She told her that she was fired from her bartender job because they thought she was too old. Eva asked her if she thought about getting a bank loan. Leslie didn’t have good credit. Eva offered to pay for lunch. She was worried about Leslie. Eva thought there had to be something she could do. Leslie told her there was something she could do and then she walked out of Orphey Gene’s. She arrived at Ted’s hotel room and told him about her financial problems. Leslie asked him for a loan and promised to pay him back. She wouldn’t tell Nicole about the loan. Ted immediately turned her down. He never planned to give her a dime. Ted wondered how she was able to afford her expensive wardrobe. The only thing Leslie heard was that he was checking her out. Ted wanted her to get out. She reminded him that she was the one who raised their daughter. He didn’t have to pay child support payments out of kindness. Ted told her that she didn’t do anything out of kindness. He threw her out. Leslie told him that she wouldn’t forget what he did. Ted slammed the door on her. Leslie went home and texted Eva. Eva was nervous and barely had anything to say to Tomas when she saw him at Orphey Gene’s. He wanted to talk about what happened the other night. She needed to take a rain check on it. Eva was upset that Leslie didn’t need anything important. Leslie told her that she was going to ask Ted for a loan since he wouldn’t say no to her. Eva refused to do it until Leslie said she would have to move in with Eva in her hotel room. She changed her mind and agreed to talk to Ted.  Naomi met with June’s sister. She talked to Regina about June, and she slammed the door in her face. Naomi slid her business card under her door. Regina realized she wanted to talk. She wanted to get it over with. Regina didn’t understand why Naomi and Jacob wanted to help June so much. She wasn’t shocked to find out that June was homeless. Her attitude changed once Naomi showed her June’s picture. Regina hadn’t seen the babies in years. The kids would be picking out colleges. They were June’s children until she realized she didn’t want to be a mother anymore. The kids were taken by CPS. Eva went to Ted’s room to ask for the loan. She didn’t blame him for not wanting to give the money to Leslie, but she wanted him to give it to her. Eva promised to pay him back, but he still said no. He didn’t want to enable Leslie by giving her more money. Ted realized that Eva was helping her mother, so he changed his mind about the mother. Regina told Naomi that she hadn’t seen the kids since they were taken away from June. She would never forgive her for letting the kids get taken away. June walked in and saw her sister talking to Naomi.

Dani and Nicole met at the country club. Nicole told her that Jacob made Leslie’s assault charges go away. Dani was shocked that Nicole fought someone. While they were talking, Dani told Nicole that she was proud of her for ripping into Bill over what happened with Martin. After Nicole and Dani talked, Nicole met up with Tyrell and Samantha. They wanted Nicole to talk Smitty into letting their father move back in their house. Nicole said it wouldn’t be easy. She said their parents had things to work out. Tyrell said everyone was leaving things out of the story. Dani went home and met up with Pam. She asked Dani about what was going on with Smitty and Martin. Dani said Martin and Smitty would survive. Changing the subject, Pam told Dani that fashion houses wanted to hire her as their spokesperson. Dani had reservations about doing it because she didn’t look the way she used to. Pam told Dani that she didn’t quit because of her age. She said Dani quit because she fell in love with a man who didn’t want her to model. Pam said she put her career second to Bill and it was time for her to put herself first. Dani still didn’t want to do it so Pam called Andre to take pictures of her. Dani gave in and did a photo shoot.

Kat told Chelsea that she didn’t understand why he was all about Eva. Chelsea, thinking she’s talking about Eva and Ted, advised her to accept that Eva wasn’t going away. Kat said she was talking about Tomas. Chelsea was shocked. Kat said Eva has been drawing Tomas into her web since day one. Chelsea told her that she should fight for Tomas because Eva was no match for her. Kat called someone and said they needed to talk. Tomas showed up to clear his name. He told Kat that he didn’t sleep with Eva. Kat told him not to insult her intelligence by saying he didn’t have feelings for Eva. Tomas told her not to make him confess to something he didn’t do. He said he sympathized with Eva. Tomas told Kat that he and Eva were friends. He said he questioned if Kat wanted to be with him for him or because she thought Eva wanted him. Kat said it may appear that way from his point of view. She said he made her feel special and wanted to make their relationship work. Kat said she didn’t want to be in a triangle with Eva. After they finished talking, they made love. Hayley saw Naomi at Orphey Gene’s and asked her if Bill killed somebody. Naomi dodged the question but was surprised to find out that Nicole accused Bill of murder. She told Hayley that she wouldn’t tell her if she knew something. Naomi said if Bill wanted to tell her anything he would tell her. Hayley said it was hard to believe they were friends. Naomi felt the same way. Hayley said Bill wasn’t a criminal to which Naomi said she didn’t know him the way she thought. Naomi said he had secrets buried deep. Hayley asked if she was trying to say that Bill was a murderer. Naomi said she needed to ask Bill. When she was finished talking, Naomi walked away from Hayley. Hayley went to Bill and asked why Nicole was mad at him and how did murder fit in. Bill was evasive with her. Hayley said she could tell that he was keeping something from her. He said it wasn’t his story to tell. Hayley said she believed him and loved him.

Nicole was on the phone with Dani. They talked about Martin’s situation. Kat arrived to rant to her about Eva. She overheard her mother talking about keeping secrets from the family. Kat waited for some answers. They stopped talking when Jacob arrived. He was there to see Nicole. Jacob told her that he was there to follow up about a claim made by Leslie that she caused her trauma and bodily harm. Leslie told him that Naomi attacked her at Orphey Gene’s. Nicole admitted that she argued with her and that they had a run in, but Leslie was just as responsible for it. Jacob wanted to know if she choked Leslie. Nicole wished she succeeded. Kat was surprised to hear her mother’s comment. Nicole said it was hyperbole. She wondered if the policed looked at the security footage. Since there wasn’t any footage, they had to rely on witnesses. Jacob wasn’t ready to arrest anyone. After Jacob left, Kat wanted to go back to their conversation before he showed up. Nicole didn’t want to talk about it for now because she had to take care of something. Eva and Tomas stopped kissing and wondered if they went too far. She couldn’t believe what she did. It was inappropriate because Tomas said that they were friends. Tomas didn’t want her to be so hard on herself because he enjoyed the kiss. He said that Kat wasn’t always nice to her so she shouldn’t feel bad about what she did. Eva told him that Kat was right about her in the beginning. Tomas thought Kat had good instincts, but it gets her in trouble. He said that he and Kat don’t have sex. Eva was shocked to find out that Kat was a virgin. She didn’t think there was anything wrong with it, but Kat walks around like she’s worldly. Tomas felt like he was on Kat’s “to-do” list which was why he stopped her when she wanted to have sex with him. Eva thought he stopped her because he wanted to focus on what he wanted to happen next. He said he wanted to keep talking to her. Eva admitted that she didn’t have the same flow with anyone else. She didn’t want to manipulate him, but Tomas felt like he was in the driver’s seat. He placed his hand on hers and thanked her for being herself. Tomas also thanked her for giving him what he hasn’t been getting. After they talked, she told him that she was ready to go. Tomas suggested going with her. He made it seem like he wanted to make sure she got home safely.

Ted was stressing out about Kenny when Leslie showed up at his hotel room. Leslie knew he didn’t like surprises. Ted didn’t mind surprises from his wife or his daughter but not her. She took off her scarf and showed him the bruises on her neck. Leslie told him that Nicole attacked her at Orphey Gene’s. Ted was there, but he didn’t realize that Nicole grabbed her that hard. He beat himself up for his mistakes. Leslie advised him to move on even if he had to do it without Nicole. She asked him to treat her bruises, but he wanted her to stop being dramatic. Leslie told him that Nicole would cause her to have panic attacks. She told him that she was proud of Eva for finding her way around Kat’s trap at her job. Ted wondered if Kat had anything to do with Eva’s mistake. Leslie told him to ask Kat about it. She started flirting with Ted, and he struggled to resist her. Leslie walked out of his room. Jacob arrived at the hotel to question him about Leslie getting attacked. Ted refused to talk about Nicole because he wanted to save his marriage. Chelsea advised Allison to leave Craig since he’s abusive. Allison thought it proved that Chelsea still cared about her. Madison heard them talking in the doorway. Chelsea didn’t think abuse was okay. Allison knew Chelsea cared about her. Chelsea wanted to call her father to find out about her legal options, but Allison stopped her. Allison got upset that Chelsea tried to overstep in her problem. Chelsea said she was trying to help a friend. Allison told her that she didn’t care about her. She only cared about Madison. Later, Madison wondered if Allison was being abused. She told Chelsea that she got a glimpse of her relationship with Allison. Madison thought the timing was convenient. She thought Chelsea should know that something was off when she refused to take Bill’s help. Nicole went to Leslie’s apartment to confront her. She wanted to see the bruises for herself. Leslie took off her scarf to show her the bruises. Nicole realized that she was just wearing makeup. Leslie said that she would tell the police that the bruises healed up. Nicole thought her plan was going to fail.

Tracy and Sharon went to see Anita who wanted to know why she ghosted them. Sharon reminded Anita that she was the one who invited them to do the tour. She said they were minding their own business until she came around and got them dreaming again but the second things didn’t go the way Anita wanted them to, she left them. Anita said she opened the door, but they refused to come through it. She said they never gave her or the group a chance. Tracy refused to apologize to Anita. Vernon gave them advice about what to do. Tracy said they haven’t been acting their age. She said they made good points. Vernon said they couldn’t turn back the clock but they could start over. He said Barbara wasn’t there with them but they should honor her. Vernon suggested they start with smaller venues instead of a reunion concert. The Articulettes agreed to do it. Chelsea talked to Kat about Allison stalking her. While they were talking, Allison showed up with blood on her head. Chelsea took Allison to the hospital. Madison was surprised to see them together. Shanice and Ashley took care of Allison. Chelsea let Madison know that she loved her, not Allison. Madison told Chelsea that she thought Allison was pretending to be hurt. She asked Chelsea why she was with Allison. After Allison was checked out, Chelsea tried to joke about why she was with her, but Madison didn’t find it funny. Chelsea told Allison that she loved Madison, but she didn’t want to rub their relationship in her face. Allison told Chelsea that she didn’t fall down. She said Craig pushed her down and that’s why she left him. Chelsea asked why she went to Orphey Gene’s instead of the hospital, Allison said she wanted to be with her. Madison walked in and saw them holding hands.

Ashley overheard Shanice telling Derek that she was making her jealous. She confronted Shanice about what she was doing. Shanice reminded her that she was doing the same thing when she was flirting with Andre. Bill and Joey were on the phone and talked about their victory over Kenneth. He told Joey that Vernon better not start trouble for them. Tomas showed up with Hayley’s sonogram in an envelope. Hayley said the hospital sent it over after there was a problem with the ultrasound machine. Bill said he needed it to get out of the mood he was in. Hayley said he was working too hard especially for the Duprees. Bill said he wasn’t Vernon’s favorite person. He said he wanted Tomas to keep an eye on his kids. Hayley didn’t like the idea of him keeping tabs on his kids. When Bill left to make a call, Hayley called someone. She asked the person if they were okay and asked if they needed anything. Hayley said she would keep in touch. Kat got a text from Ted to meet him at the hotel room. When Kat got there, she found out the text was from Eva. Eva apologized to Ted for lying, but she had something important to say about the mixup. Kat was worried that Eva was going to expose her, but Eva said she fixed the problem and it was going to get fixed. Kat tried to downplay Eva’s solution, but Ted didn’t want to hear it. Ted said Eva deserved a break. He told Kat that she should be impressed that Eva was able to fix the mistake. Ted told her that hating Eva wouldn’t change what he did and that Leslie was the one who went after the family. He said Eva didn’t do anything. Kat told him that he was living with Eva in a hotel and that she was running his business. She said Eva had her hands in everything in her life. Kat said Eva was going after Tomas. Eva and Tomas ran into each other at Orphey Gene’s. She told him that Kat set her up. Tomas couldn’t believe Kat would do that to her. He asked why she didn’t expose Kat to which Eva said she didn’t want to cause any trouble. Tomas said he was glad he didn’t sleep with Kat. While they were talking, they kissed.

Nicole arrived at Ted’s hotel room. She yelled at him about keeping more secrets from her. He didn’t know what she was talking about, so she was specific about the secret. Ted knew how it felt to want a devastating secret to go away. He told her the self-pity thing was beneath her. She let him know that his lies kept her from being there for her son. His actions made her question who she married. Nicole put him on notice that any chance of them getting back together were destroyed because of him. Ted was surprised that she used Martin’s secret as an excuse not to get back together with him. He only kept the secret from her to keep her safe. Nicole didn’t want to hear anything else from him, so she left his room. Jacob expressed to Naomi his feelings about Smitty. He believed that Smitty was covering up for Martin. Naomi didn’t think it was possible for Martin to commit a crime. She advised her husband to give Martin and Smitty some space. Naomi knew something else was wrong. Jacob confessed that he believed his father was involved in what happened to Martin. Questioning his father made him feel like he was betraying him. Naomi felt like he might regret stirring the pot. Jacob felt like her response was a typical Dupree answer for him to stand by his family even when he knew they did something wrong. Naomi warned him to let Marcel, and his father handle the case. Dani and Andre were in her bed, and she brought up his date with Ashley. She told him that he could sow his wild oats. Andre couldn’t wait to make her eat her words. Their conversation was cut short when Dani was summoned to go to the Dupree manor.

Chelsea stormed into her father’s office to find out why he would put the family in danger. Bill wasn’t sure what she meant by that. Chelsea told him about the lawsuit her company was facing. Bill apologized for not being on top of things. He reminded her about the stroke he had and that she didn’t come to him for help. It’s been a long time since she needed him. Bill was fine with Tomas handling her case. Chelsea didn’t want any more secrets between them. It’s okay to keep secrets from others, but they shouldn’t do that to family. Vernon and Anita informed Dani about what happened two years ago. Dani couldn’t believe the racism ad violence that Vernon and Martin had to endure. She was grateful that Vernon and Martin survived. Martin wondered if he overreacted and attacked the brothers too hastily. Vernon told him that he defended him. Dani was glad Martin was there to protect Vernon. Nicole arrived at the Dupree Manor. She hugged Martin and assured him that she had him. Nicole wanted him to get rest. They would work on mending the broken pieces tomorrow. The Duprees assured Martin that his family would forgive him in time, but Martin wasn’t sure about that. He sent Smitty a text to make sure things would be fine with him. Dani and Nicole made up after their argument. She wanted to put the issues with Nicole behind them. Dani reminded her that their family wasn’t perfect, but they weren’t the enemy. She told Nicole that she needed them. They could help her heal. Dani advised her to stop pushing them away. The sisters hugged each other and made up. Bill went to see Ted and told him what Nicole knew. He also told Ted that Kenny was dead. Ted wanted to know what Bill did. He thought it was convenient that Bill and Joey had the same alibi for the night of Kenny’s shooting. Ted thought they were lucky that Jacob wasn’t investigating the case. Bill agreed that they didn’t need him involved.

Nicole was heartbroken to find out that Martin and Smitty broke up. She was glad that infidelity wasn’t the reason why they broke up. Martin said what he did was worse than that. Nicole wanted to know why she was kept in the dark about what happened. She said she wanted to know what was going on with her son. Nicole was upset with Anita for not telling her she was home. Vernon said she was kept in the dark for too long. Martin didn’t want to say anything because he was tired and hungry. Vernon and Martin went out to the country club. Anita said Nicole didn’t know about hardships because she and Vernon shielded her from it. She wanted Nicole to prepare herself for what she was going to hear. Nicole was upset that Ted performed the surgery on Kenneth and she didn’t know about it. She was upset that she didn’t know that Martin killed a man. Nicole asked why she didn’t know about any of this. She was mad that she couldn’t help her son because Anita and Vernon decided to play God. Anita told her that a black man defending himself against a racist would still end up in the system no matter how far we have progressed. She said she wasn’t apologizing for what they did. Anita said Vernon couldn’t get past protecting his grandson which was why she decided to keep quiet about it.

Anita told Nicole that their family went to extreme measures and should have called the police. She said she and Vernon wanted to protect their family. Nicole said she sounded like a mobster. She thought it was disgusting that they put her son through it so the Duprees could save face. Anita was appalled that Nicole would speak to her the way she was over a difficulty in the family. Nicole said it was more than a difficulty. Anita said their decisions were about protecting Martin. Nicole ended up walking out. Martin and Vernon went to the country club. They talked about Martin not telling Smitty the truth. Martin said he regretted not saying anything. Vernon said there was no guarantee that telling Smitty would have solved anything. Vernon advised Martin to remember the love he and Smitty had for each other regardless of what happened. He told Martin that his marriage could survive if he fought for it. Jacob wanted to know why Elon didn’t want to rush to identify Kenneth who was shot at a robbery gone wrong. Elon told him that he didn’t appreciate him questioning his authority and advised him to focus on his own cases. Jacob asked if Malone was the one who found the body in the park. Elon told him to stop asking questions before he got hurt. When Jacob found out what happened at the press conference, he went to see Smitty. Jacob asked why Martin canceled the press conference after he got the picture. Smitty said he didn’t know anything. Jacob kept asking Smitty questions. Smitty wanted him to say what he had to say. Jacob realized Martin was involved in the situation. He thought Martin’s actions made him look guilty. Smitty wanted Jacob to leave. Jacob advised him not to quit now. Smitty said he didn’t have to answer his questions. Jacob told him he did answer his questions.

Vernon apologized to Anita for not telling her about the situation with Kenneth. He said he thought he had the situation under control. When Vernon told Anita that Kenneth targeted Tyrell and Samantha, she was furious. Anita was thankful that Kenneth didn’t make good on his threats to hurt them. While they were talking, Anita accused Vernon of being behind Kenneth’s hit. Vernon denied having anything to do with the hit. He said he should have never let Bill and Joey handle the situation. Vernon said he didn’t want to burden Anita with the things that were going on because he thought it would affect the Articulettes’ reunion. Anita said they ruined that on their own. They wondered how they were going to tell Nicole about this since she was fragile. Vernon wondered if they did the right thing years ago. Smitty was shocked when Martin told him that Kenneth was dead. He asked Martin if he had anything to do with it. Martin denied being responsible for Kenneth’s death. Smitty wanted more information about Kenneth’s death. Martin said he didn’t know anything about it.

Tyrell and Samantha came downstairs to find out what was going on. Martin told them what happened that night. Tyrell and Samantha understood the situation but wondered why it took so long to say something. Smitty said sometimes protecting people ended up hurting them. Martin said none of them had to worry about Kenneth because he was gone. Smitty said he needed more time before he forgave Martin for what he did. Samantha said Martin shouldn’t be punished for being a hero. Martin said he was going to work hard to earn back their trust. Smitty said he wasn’t ready to make any promises right now. Martin asked if it was for now or ever. Smitty said he couldn’t do this. Martin left with his suitcases. Vanessa went to see Nicole’s place and was shocked to find out what happened with Leslie. Nicole said she came close to strangling Leslie. Vanessa told Nicole what happened at the press conference. Nicole wondered why Bill was there when he and Martin were barely speaking to each other. She wondered what the family emergency was that stopped the conference. Nicole told her Martin stepped down after Bill showed him a picture. She said Vernon ripped into Bill. Vanessa said it looked like Martin was in trouble. Later on, Nicole went to Martin’s house and was surprised that Martin wasn’t there. Nicole asked what Martin was going to reveal at the press conference. Smitty said Martin should tell her himself. Later on, Jacob went to see Smitty. Jacob told Smitty that Malone found an unidentified body earlier on. Smitty pretended to be surprised by the news. He tried to get Jacob to think that Marcel or Joey were involved. He told Jacob that Martin moved out. Dani and Bill were drinking at the club. He told her that Vernon ripped into him. Bill said a part of him needed Vernon’s approval. Dani said he was too cold-blooded to worry about what people thought of him. While they were talking, Dani brought up Bill’s father. Bill said his father wasn’t there for him which was why he gravitated towards Vernon. Martin went to the Dupree mansion. He told Vernon and Anita that he told the kids what happened. Martin regretted not telling Smitty what happened when it happened. While they were talking, Vernon said they couldn’t come forward without implicating Joey who wouldn’t hesitate to retaliate. Nicole showed up and demanded to know what was going on.

Bill confirmed to Martin that Kenny was dead. He said that Kenny was killed in a robbery gone wrong. Vernon knew it was a hit on him. Martin couldn’t believe he was about to expose himself in front of reporters. He thought it was suspicious that Bill received the confirmation photo during his press conference. Bill said it was a coincidence. He told Martin that he wouldn’t have to look over his shoulder anymore. Bill felt like the reporters were becoming suspicious of Martin too. They were going to wonder what the Dupree family emergency was that took him from the podium. Martin stormed out of the diner. He was upset that Bill kept him in the dark again. Vernon was upset by Bill’s behavior too. Bill and Vernon argued over Martin. Vernon was mad that his family became accessories to murder. He felt like Bill needed him more than the other way around. Bill was upset by his comment. Bill reminded him that his family will mess up again and need his help. He would remember that night the next time they need his head. Bill would refuse to help them. Vernon reminded him who had the real power. Vanessa felt like Joey invited her to Orphey Gene’s as an alibi. He told her that he wanted her to be there because she was beautiful. Vanessa reminded him about her close relationship with the Duprees so she wanted to know if something was wrong with them. Joey warned her to be careful what she asks for. Vanessa demanded to know every detail. He gave in and told her what happened. Joey told her that they arranged for a bad man to be taken care of. She wanted clarification on what he meant by taken care of. It meant whatever she needed to sleep at night. He said that he wouldn’t tell her everything about his business. Joey told her that she liked to pretend she loved his work, but he plays a dangerous game. Vanessa saw Malone and invited him to their table. She heard about their productive evening. Malone was hesitant about answering her. Joey yelled at her to stop asking questions. He told her if she didn’t stop pushing, their night wouldn’t end the way she hoped.

Smitty, Tyrell, and Samantha were waiting at home for Martin. Smitty found out that Martin called and canceled a press conference. Martin arrived home and panicked when he saw his bags packed. Smitty read Martin the riot act. Martin wanted to talk to Smitty alone. He promised there wouldn’t be any more secrets. Tyrel and Samantha left the room. Smitty didn’t want any guilt or apologies. He wanted answers. Martin told him about his trip with Vernon. They left from a political party and got a flat tire. Martin got out of the car and saw two racist Caucasian men. They offered to help him. The three of them ended up getting into a fight. Martin saw one of the guys get physical with Vernon. He went crazy. Martin hit one of the guys in the head with a crowbar and beat him to death. The other guy was unconscious and barely clinging to life. Martin told Smitty that he killed a man like it was nothing. He had nightmares about what he did to the other guy’s face. Vernon called Malone, and he showed up with Chief Hawthorne. Joey arrived to take care of the body and the witness. Smitty was shocked by what he heard. He realized all the dots were connected, but he didn’t expect to hear the story. Martin continued the story. He told him that Kenny was the surviving witness. Ted gave him plastic surgery. Kenny was given money to start a new life. They thought everything was over. Kenny was blackmailing him for weeks. Martin didn’t recognize him because of his new face. Smitty was upset that he didn’t tell him about the blackmail. Martin wanted one of them to stay clean so their kids wouldn’t lose both of their fathers. He regretted that he kept him in the dark about what happened. Smitty understood why he didn’t want to say anything about it. He wouldn’t have gone along with the cover up. Smitty said that Martin’s lies put the family in danger. He wanted Martin to leave immediately. As long as Martin was getting targeted, Smitty didn’t think the kids were safe. Martin said their troubles were over since Kenny was dead. Anita came back home. Vernon tried to not to tell her what happened, but she knew something was wrong. He told her the event that happened two years ago was coming back to haunt them.

Dani and Vanessa met to talk about the modeling agency. While they were talking about locations for the agency, Dani said she hadn’t decided on modeling again. She thought it might be a disaster. If it was a flop it could ruin her legacy. Vanessa tried to convince Dani to go back to modeling to show the new models how to do it. She told Dani that she had what it took to be a successful model. Jacob told Naomi that Martin was in over his head. He let Naomi know what was going on with Martin and Malone. Naomi couldn’t believe what was going on. Jacob thought the situation was coming to a head. He wasn’t sure if he was telling her too much about the situation. Naomi told him what was going on with June. Jacob suggested that she call the number on June’s picture. When Naomi called the number and asked about June. The person hung up on Naomi. When Naomi called back, the person warned her not to call again and said her sister was dead to her.

At Orphey Gene’s, Martin wanted a press conference, but Vernon didn’t think he should have one. Martin thought telling the truth would end the nightmare. Vernon said it would make things worse for him and his family. He told Martin that other people would be at risk since they didn’t go to the police. Martin was upset that Joey was involved. He said he wouldn’t have agreed to it if he knew Joey was involved. Smitty met with Kenneth at the park. Kenneth asked if he thought Martin was the hero in the story. He told Smitty that Martin was the bad guy. After Smitty went home, he let the kids know that he couldn’t let Martin stay in the house. Samantha blamed herself for meeting with Kenneth, but Smitty said it wasn’t her or Tyrell’s fault. Joey and Malone were at the casino waiting to hear about where Kenneth was. Bill showed up and wanted an update on Kenneth. Malone said the situation was under control. He ended up leaving to find Kenneth. Bill and Joey were upset when they found out Martin was holding a press conference. Joey and Bill went to the diner to make sure they weren’t mentioned in the press conference. Vernon let them know that he was trying to stop Martin from having the conference. Bill let Martin know that he would stand by him and would represent him. During the press conference, Vernon noticed that Martin was with Kenneth. When Martin was about to make a speech, Bill interrupted him to show him a picture of Kenneth dead on the ground. He told Martin that it was done. The press conference was over which caused confusion with the reporters. Martin tried to process what was going on. Smitty told the kids that Martin has kept them in the dark for too long. Samantha wanted Smitty to let Martin come home to explain himself, but Smitty refused. Smitty said Martin put them in danger by bringing Kenneth into their lives and keeping secrets. He said Martin leaving had to be done.

Martin was livid when he saw Kenneth with Samantha at the park. He got upset and started punching Kenneth. Martin gave him a bloody lip. Samantha was worried and wanted answers. Kenneth told Martin that he didn’t do anything wrong. He creepily told Martin that he didn’t touch Samantha’s beautiful brown skin. After what happened in the park, Samantha wanted answers from her father about earlier. Smitty came in the room in time to agree with Samantha’s concerns about Kenneth. He wanted Martin to start talking. Smitty was shocked to hear that Martin attacked Kenneth at the park. He said he knew about the security Martin hired. Smitty informed him that he would be surprised at what he knew. Martin said he needed to do things his way. He wanted Smitty to understand and be there when everything was over. Martin hoped that Smitty would still be there for him when he got back. Hayley went home and told Bill that she was glowing and growing. She said she had cramping due to stress. Bill was excited about the news. Their celebration was cut short when Vernon arrived. Vernon demanded to know why Bill summoned him. Hayley thought he was there to talk about Dani, but Bill assured her that it was a legal matter. After Hayley left the room, Bill told Vernon about Joey changing the plans. He wanted Randy to kill Kenneth, but he didn’t do it. Vernon wasn’t happy about the murder plot. Bill didn’t believe his outrage after he reminded him that he had to swallow his sins to help him sleep at night. He carried the weight so Vernon didn’t have to do it. He didn’t buy Vernon’s disgusted act. Bill didn’t see any way out of that mess. Vernon thought that Kenneth living helped them avoid more trouble. He felt like everyone had a price and they had to pay Kenneth more money. Vernon called his accountant.

Ashley saw Jacob at Orphey Gene’s. He apologized for not reaching out to her sooner. Jacob wasn’t choosing sides between her and Derek. It shocked him to find out that Derek went out with Shanice. He thought she would have started dating first. She told him that she went out with Andre. Ashley talked to him about a mystery that came up. She wanted to figure out why the person would act mysteriously. Jacob thought the person told one lie and had to keep telling them to cover up the first one. Hayley walked into Orphey Gene’s demanding food because of her pregnancy cravings. Ashley was shocked that she was having cravings already. She thought that would happen in the second trimester. Hayley thought her baby was a prodigy. Ashley let her know it didn’t work like that. Hayley thanked her for being nice to her. Ashley refused to let her off the hook. She let her know that they weren’t friends. Their friendship ended a long time ago before she chose Bill over her friends and left them in the cold. She thought that she shouldn’t have gone after her friend’s father. Ashley confronted Hayley about planning her pregnancy. Hayley told her that everyone’s relationship couldn’t move as slow as her relationship with Derek. Chelsea demanded answers from Allison about why she was following her. Allison denied following her. She wanted to eat at Uptown. Allison reminded Chelsea about their hot nights together. She thought that Chelsea made mistakes in different ways including breaking up with her. Chelsea and Madison talked about Allison’s strange behavior. She wanted to show Allison that they were strong together by making out in from of her. Allison went to the table and gave her a hair clip that she left at her place. She went into details about their hot nights together. Chelsea told her that she still had the cops on speed dial. Allison eerily warned her that she didn’t know what would be lurking in the shadows. Martin went to Bill’s place to talk about Kenneth. He wanted to know why he was able to walk around freely. Martin thought Bill has slipped since he got married and had his stroke. His grandfather was preoccupied with his grandmother being out of town. He felt like he needed to take charge. Martin wanted to see Kenneth dead. Bill thought he should talk to Smitty first. He couldn’t tell him about that. Martin left to find Kenneth. He made a call to someone to take care of Kenneth.
