Was it just us or did the holiday episodes not feel too festive? They had the annual Horton tree trimming ceremony, but it didn’t feel like the holiday season. The Brady family didn’t interact much at all. We didn’t see the Carvers celebrating either. John’s absence should have been felt more since his family was celebrating their first Christmas without him. Marlena talked about him with Roman briefly, but that wasn’t enough. They needed more to make it feel like Christmas. We have our personal reasons why we don’t want to watch too many things that celebrate the holidays but that’s Days’ tradition. The writers decided to bypass it skip to New Year’s Eve. Most of the fans want to see the traditions that made the show appeal to the audience. Hopefully they will remember that next year.
Speaking of the holidays, did anyone else want to throw up during Stephanie and Alex’s scenes? We definitely did. They only cared about jumping in bed. She has a stalker after her, but she was more worried about going to bed with Alex. They got mad because Steve was there to protect her. Stephanie and Alex need to get their priorities straightened out. If the stalker attacked them, they wouldn’t be together anyway. They could handle not having sex if it meant that she would live. If that weren’t disgusting enough, we had to endure Alex proposing to Stephanie. We were ready to hit the fast forward button for those scenes. If you haven’t watched it yet, we are doing you a favor.
Johnny and Chanel faced another obstacle in their relationship. They dropped bombs on each other. Johnny was going to keep running the company, and Chanel was pregnant. Let’s start with Johnny’s news. Chanel wasn’t happy about his news. She felt like he was choosing the company over the family. He explained that he was staying until Theo got better. His reasoning didn’t help. She was still upset with him. Chanel overreacted to him working for DiMera enterprises. He could make extra money for their family. Chanel was also mad about his reaction to her pregnancy. He wasn’t over the moon about the news. Johnny was worried that her cancer would come back. It made sense to be concerned if the baby was at risk or if she could die giving birth. Chanel gave him the cold shoulder and reminded him that it was her body, and her choice. She has a point too, but she should understand why Johnny’s afraid for her to have the baby. The story has potential to be drama filled, but we know the writers will drop the ball on it. It’s a story that would leave you feeling two-sided about it.
Javi and Leo had their wedding ceremony. As long-time fans know, there aren’t too many weddings that go off without a hitch. Their wedding was no exception. Leo was missing for a little while. He showed up and they continued with the ceremony. In true soap opera fashion, Dimitri showed up. Javi was insecure about Dimitri, and he suddenly showed up looking for Leo. Is this the start of another love triangle? Kudos to the writers for treating Javi and Leo’s wedding like any other ceremony on the show.
