THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
Kate, are you in there? I wanted to talk to you about the script– oh, hey.
Hey. How’s the back?
It’s a lot better.
Yeah. No thanks to me.
Yeah, you definitely did a number on me yesterday.
Aw, I’m sorry about that.
Mm-hmm.
But I promise you I’ll be a little more gentle next time. [dramatic music]
But don’t be too gentle, OK?
No?
Hey, you cheating bitch!
[suspenseful music] [exhales heavily]
Cheating bitch.
[soft music]
Mm.
Morning.
Morning. [both chuckle]
Oy.
So much for that not happening again.
[sighs]
Huh.
Hey.
Hey, Sweetness. Thought you could use this.
Mm, aren’t you a godsend, as usual?
Mm. How’d the surgery go?
It was good. We anticipate a full recovery.
Well, we’re just lucky to have you.
Ah, thank you. But I can’t take all the credit. I have the very best team there is.
Hmm. Well, I hope that team didn’t include Dr. Mark Greene. [dramatic music]
No, Clyde, I haven’t left yet. I’m heading to the airport in a little while. Yeah, I get it. If I ever want to see my mother again, I have to fly to Paris and murder Chad DiMera.
[somber music]
[sighs] You lucky lady, Abby. [chuckles] I hope you know that you were so lucky…
To have a man love you like that. [sighs] Now he thinks he loves me like that.
Oh, my God, I don’t– I don’t know how I’m doing this to you, Chad. I don’t know. I don’t know. [door clicks open]
[sighs] Oh, my God. I didn’t know you had gone out.
Well, you know, I had to get a… bouquet for my bride. It is our wedding day, after all.
Oh.
[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”
[dramatic music]
Oh, good morning.
Good morning. I’m not interrupting, am I?
No, just sending a text to Felicity.
You didn’t come to bed last night.
Yeah, I– I just got busy blocking all those scenes and then passed out on the couch.
Oh, yeah, you must be so exhausted. These soap opera hours are worse than a baker’s.
I’ll be fine.
Yeah.
How about you? How’d you sleep?
Ah, well, besides missing you in bed last night, believe it or not, I actually got a full eight hours. I was so exhausted yesterday.
Right, yeah. Hey, how’s your– how’s your back?
Mm, it’s still a little bit stiff, but it’s actually feeling much better. Thanks for asking.
I’m glad to hear that.
Yeah. Yeah, I still cannot believe that tying my shoe is what took me out.
Yeah. Yeah, it’s always the– it’s always the thing you least expect that does a number on you.
So you have a problem with Mark Greene?
As a matter of fact, I do, Sweetness. I know how much you respect him. I mean, you trusted him to run the test on Abigail’s DNA, right?
Yeah, I did, because he’s a very competent physician. He’s incredibly thorough.
I got to tell you, my issue with Mark Greene is that test and the results.
Oh, come on. Just say it. What about the results?
Well, looks like Dr. Greene lied. He faked the results.
Why can’t you just hire a professional to take out Chad? I’m aware I’m cheap labor. But you’d think, for a job like this– No, I already told you. I understand what happens if I don’t cooperate. What if I get caught? What if I–what if I fail? I mean, my younger brother and sister, they depend on me. Don’t get caught. That’s your advice. Yeah, why didn’t I think of that? No, I don’t intend to tell my other sister anything. She’s busy wedding planning.
Oh, my goodness, they are so beautiful.
Yeah, they’re all your favorites. I mean, all of them. Or they used to be. I don’t know. Those work as a bouquet, right?
They’re perfect.
OK.
Yes, of course. It’s so thoughtful of you. [chuckles] It’s really nice.
Why are you crying? Something wrong?
No, no. Everything’s wonderful, amazing. I’m just– [sighs] I’m just feeling a lot today, obviously, you know. And I was looking at this picture of you and Abby and– I mean you and me. And… [sighs] We’re so happy.
Yeah, we were happy. It was our wedding day.
Yeah.
We’ll be that happy again, as happy as we were in that photo.
Mm.
We will.
I want that with you, Chad.
But I–
Chad, I’m not her.
[sighs] Oh, where is it?
What you looking for?
My bra. You seen it? [dramatic music]
I’m assuming this is yours.
Ah, thank you.
Thank you.
Seen my bracelet anywhere?
What’s it look like?
It’s plain gold. I must have left it in the living room. Why can’t I find anything? [sighs]
Steph, you all right?
Sure. Why wouldn’t I be?
I don’t know. You seem a little jumpy.
Jumpy?
Yeah, like you just tripped an alarm off in the middle of a bank robbery and now you’re waiting on the cops to show up.
No, I–I– [sighs]
What?
Well, you said it before. We agreed that we weren’t going to do this anymore.
We did. But then things happen.
Mistakes happen. And I think it’s best for both of us if we just–if we just forget this one ever did.
Steph, hang on–
[sighs]
Mm, can you zip me up? I’m still a little sore when it comes to twisting.
Sure.
[zipper scratches]
Thank you.
So you want to– want to drive to set together?
Oh, no. Actually, Kate wanted to make sure that my back was fully healed, so she postponed all my scenes until tomorrow.
All of them?
Yeah, you didn’t get the email?
No, I must have– honestly, I just– I haven’t even checked my email yet today.
Mm, well, I’m sure it’s in there.
Must be.
Hmm.
Well, hey, I guess that means I get a little more time to prepare for directing you and Alex in bed.
Right. Uh-huh, I guess so. And you are sure that you are still OK with that, hmm?
Yeah, of course.
OK, because you did just bring it up.
It was a joke.
OK. And you are sure that you are not feeling jealous again like at the photo shoot?
Jeal–I mean, yeah, what’s there even to be jealous about? You and Alex, it’s all just pretend, right?
Right. Comes with the job.
Yeah.
All right, so I will see you later.
If you’re not headed to set, then where you off to?
Oh, I was just gonna stop by the bakery, check in with Felicity, see if she needs anything. What about you? You want anything? You want a doughnut, bear claw, anything?
Just surprise me.
All right. Mwah. See you later.
So you think that Mark Greene lied about the test results.
Yes, I do.
[scoffs]
I do. Listen, baby, you know that I had this feeling that something was off with Abigail from the moment Chad and Jack found her.
Yeah, I was aware of that, but I thought that you were letting it go.
We couldn’t let it go, not with all the warning signs. I mean, she lied to Stephanie about talking to you on the phone. And when I asked her about it, she got defensive. And what about Jennifer’s reaction to seeing her, her own mother? So I came to the hospital yesterday, and I asked Dr. Greene to rerun the DNA test.
You did not. We talked about that. It is a violation of Abigail’s rights to run her DNA without her knowledge. You had no right to do that.
I didn’t have her DNA tested. I brought in new samples. And I told Dr. Greene they belonged to Abigail and Thomas.
But they didn’t?
No, they belonged to you and me. Dr. Greene was happy to run the test.
On our samples.
Yeah, but of course, he didn’t know that.
Well, what did he tell you the results were?
Turns out, it was a perfect match. According to Dr. Greene, you’re my mommy.
Look, Clyde, I have to go. Don’t want to miss my plane, right? But I need your assurance that the minute that Chad is taken care of and the widow DiMera transfers the money to your accounts that you’re gonna let our mother go. Sure, why wouldn’t I take your word for it?
Mark.
[laughs] There you are. Hey, just the person I wanted to see. You got my text, obviously.
Yeah.
Well, Felicity, there’s something I need to talk to you about.
Is it–is it about Abigail?
What do you mean you’re not her?
I– I have a different face, Chad. And I don’t have most of my memories. And the woman in that photo is not the same woman that you’re marrying today.
Well, I’m not the same either.
I mean, she and I, you and I, that– that photo was taken a long time ago. We’ve been through a lot since then. You know, some of it was bad, like losing you.
Chad.
But some of it was very, very good.
Look, it doesn’t matter to me what you look like or what you remember. All that really matters to me is you.
Are you sure about that?
Yes. And, look, you remember the most important part, which is that you love me, right? And we love each other.
Yeah, I remember our love…
OK, good.
Strongly and clearly.
Yeah, well…
You see it all over my face.
That’s why you wanted to get married today, right, so you could remember the rest?
Yeah, it is. I just–
Are you having second thoughts?
Look, I know you met my patient Abigail in the park the other day, but why do you think I want to talk to you about her? [light music]
Hey, Felicity, Dr. Greene.
Johnny, what’s going on?
Not much. Just, I’m sorry to bother you guys. I was just–I was looking for Chanel. She’s not in the bakery, is she, Felicity?
No, I haven’t seen her yet.
Hmm.
[sighs] Coffee?
No, I’m good. I–I should get to the office.
Which one?
Both, actually. I need to go check on some promotional materials for “Body & Soul,” and then I need to go to the mayor’s office to sit in on a planning meeting for the board.
Sounds like a busy morning.
Aren’t they all?
For you. I don’t know how you keep them all straight.
Honestly, I don’t know if I do. I’m surprised I haven’t had the mayor call a press conference to deny that Faith’s evil twin is poisoning the water supply in Pine View.
I’d like to see that.
[sighs]
Steph, you sure you don’t have a minute just to maybe have a little bite to eat?
No, I should go. This has been– Well, I’ll see you.
[chuckles] All right. [sighs] [dramatic music] [clears throat]
So Mark Greene told you that our DNA is a perfect match for mother and son?
That’s right. So it’s obvious that he faked the tests.
Look, I know that this looks terrible.
It is terrible.
But let’s not jump to conclusions.
What other conclusion could there be?
I don’t know.
You know, there is one way to prove if Mark Greene really did fake both tests.
How?
Well, he mentioned that the lab still had the original samples from Abigail and Jack.
So if I reran those tests–
Well, you said you wouldn’t do that. You were adamant about it.
I wasn’t gonna steal a sample from Abigail. But since she consented to give us that sample in the first place, I am just going to rerun the test, proving the authenticity of the original sample. It won’t be a violation of anything.
OK, so you’re gonna do it?
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I’ll do– I’ll do it myself.
OK, the sooner, the better, baby.
Yeah, OK. I’m on it. Can’t wait.
Of course I still want to marry you.
[laughs]
Of course I do. Of course I do.
Whew, great.
I just– [sighs] I’m just feeling a lot. That’s all.
Well, yeah, that I can see. I can see that, yeah.
Did I not used to be this much of a basket case?
No, you always– you had–always had a big heart.
Oh. Oh, wow. That is a yes. Oh, wow.
[laughs] No, it’s not.
Oh, no.
Look, what I’m–
You don’t have to act in a certain way. And you don’t–you certainly don’t have to second-guess any of your feelings.
I’ll take you any way I can get you.
[chuckles]
Good, cause you’re getting me, all of this. [laughs]
Good. Well, I mean good because, you know, we’re–we’re all set. Everything’s paid for. Holly’s on her way back from seeing her mom. Officiant is on the way. You got the dress?
I do.
You can’t say that yet.
Oh, my goodness. I mean I have the dress…
Good.
And the bouquet. Thank you.
Mm-hmm.
In less than an hour, you’re gonna be my wife.
[phone ringing]
Hey, Chanel. Bye, Chanel.
[sighs]
[chuckles]
Oh.
Huh?
What?
[laughs] You and Stephanie? Since when?
Ah, it just sort of happened.
OK.
Well, when you were late to set the other day, I asked her to run lines with me.
Oh, for the love scene, huh?
That’s right.
Well, I guess they call that method acting.
[chuckles] That’s what I said. Anyway, we’re just friends, with the occasional benefit.
OK, whatever, whatever, OK? You are just my fictional boyfriend. So whatever you do in your personal life, in your real life, is not my business.
Well, I appreciate that. Thank you. But you said you wanted to talk to me in private. So what’s going on?
Yeah, I’m sorry for the cryptic message. It’s just that Johnny’s birthday is next week, and I want to throw him a surprise party.
Huh.
And I need your help. [soft music]
Chanel hasn’t been by Sweet Bits at all?
Not today.
Did she text you that she was stopping by?
No, sorry.
Nah, that’s all good. We must have just got our signals crossed. Well, thanks anyway. [light music]
Hey, tell me again why you brought up Abigail before.
I know who she reminds me off.
Who?
Mom.
[phone ringing]
It’s your Uncle Steve.
I mean, you can answer it if you want.
I don’t need that negativity.
What do you mean? What negativity? [tense music]
[clears throat] He called last night.
What did he want?
Just wanted to check in, see if you… had any more memories come back. And I told him we were getting married. He expressed his concern.
Oh, he still doesn’t trust me from the whole phone call mix-up.
Whatever, I don’t know what his problem is. I don’t care. You and I, we’re getting married. There’s nothing he can do to change that.
[chuckles]
Oh, you’re taking my clothes off already. You have to wait till we say I do.
Chad, it’s Steve. Listen, as soon as you get this message, you need to call me back. It’s urgent. It’s extremely urgent. Please call me back.
[dramatic music] [both moan and chuckle]
What?
No, it’s dumb.
No, say it. What?
Nothing.
What?
No, I just think I’ve… watched too many Disney movies with Charlotte.
[laughs] Oh, like where a kiss from a handsome prince has magical powers and suddenly she wakes up or gets all of her memories back?
I told you it was dumb.
No, it’s sweet. It’s sweet.
[clears throat]
And no, my memories didn’t come flooding back. But it was a very, very nice kiss. [chuckles] It’s, like, full-body feels. Like, my heart starts racing, and my cheeks get all flushed, and I just– it’s these moments where I feel– [sighs] I feel like I can remember everything that we had before, you know?
Everything?
[chuckles] Mostly I feel what a lucky lady I was–I am to have such an amazing man like you.
I’m the lucky one.
Hmm.
I want to kiss you a lot. But I have to go get ready. [laughs] Mwah.
See you at the altar.
Mwah. Yes.
[door slams]
Well?
I reran the tests.
And?
I used Jack and Abigail’s original samples. And…they do not match.
You’re sure?
Yeah. There is no way that those two people are related, which means–
That’s not our girl.
No. Whoever that woman is is not Abigail.
I’m sorry, baby.
Yeah, so am I.
I know how much you wanted it to be true.
Yeah. Poor Jack and Chad.
Yeah. OK, well, we’ll deal with that as soon as we can. But you know what else this means?
It means that Mark Greene falsified the results. Why?
So Abigail reminds you of Mom, huh?
Yeah.
Yeah, I can see that now that you mention it. Some of her mannerisms are kind of similar.
Yeah.
Anyway, the reason I wanted to talk to you is because I wanted to let you know that I have to go out of town for a little while. There’s some business I have to take care of overseas that has to do with Mom and Dad’s estate. Something I have to clear up. [light music]
[sighs]
I miss them.
So do I. Anyway, I’m not gonna be gone for very long. But while I’m out of the country, you’re in charge of Aaron, OK?
I love you, Feliss.
Love you too.
And I hope you know there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you or for this family.
[sighs]
You want my help throwing Johnny a party. Why? Can’t you just get somebody from the mansion staff to help you?
Well, the party is not at the mansion.
Where is it?
Well, I thought it would be fun to have it on set.
On set, on, like, the “Body & Soul” set?
Yeah.
Why?
[laughs] Well, that’s the only place I could think of that would surprise him. And I don’t trust anyone at the mansion to not tip him off.
Ah.
Although he’s so focused with work that I doubt he would notice it anyway.
Oh, focused on work and on us.
Yeah. Yeah, unfortunately, he is still a little bit… tense about having to direct us in a love scene.
Hmm.
I thought he was over it. But then this morning, I was getting this vibe.
What, like a jealous vibe?
Mm, a vibe like he doesn’t fully trust me around you.
But I mean, he knows nothing’s going on between us, right?
Yeah, of course. But even still, I think it’s still triggering for him, knowing that he’s gonna have to direct us in that love scene.
Ah.
[sighs] So… I thought that maybe it would be nice to just throw him a party on set. That way, he realizes that the set is a friendly place, you know?
Yeah, for sure. You’re a damn good wife, Chanel.
Well, I try.
Mm. Whatever you need, I’m here for you.
All right. Well, thank you.
Of course.
All right, so I will come up with a plan, and then I will reach out to you and let you know, OK?
Sounds good. Yeah, I just want everybody to feel comfortable too.
All right.
I’ll see you on set.
I’ll see you on set.
[groans, sighs] [soft music]
And I can trust you to keep this to yourself, right?
Of course. Johnny will not hear a word about this from me.
Good. Because my husband is totally clueless.
Well, let’s keep it that way.
[groans]
[unsettling music]
[light music]
Felicity, hey.
Hi, Chanel.
So, hon, I need to ask you a favor. I’m throwing Johnny a surprise party next week, and I wanted to see if maybe you could help me with the cake.
OK.
All right, nice.
Oh, and Johnny was here just looking for you.
Oh.
Oh, is this what I think it is? Ah. Oh. [dramatic music] Oh, Alex. What am I gonna do about you?
Johnny, hi.
Hi.
Hey, we just got these promotional posters in. Nice shot of Chanel and Alex, huh?
Yeah, great.
Yeah. Well, I’m gonna make some calls and figure out where we’re gonna place these.
OK, see you.
Yeah. [tense music]
[phone ringing]
Is this Mrs. Chad DiMera?
[sighs] Not yet, but I will be soon. I’m a complete wreck about it.
Hey, I know this is a big step. But just remember, the second that you two tie the knot, we get Mom back.
I know. I keep reminding myself of that. But it’s–[scoffs] It’s really hard, Mark. I mean, I feel horrible about what we’re doing to Chad. It’s so awful. He’s such a great man. He does not deserve this.
Don’t tell me you’re starting to have real feelings for this guy.
Yes? No?
Yes. Yes, actually, I am. [scoffs] I see how much he loved his wife, how kind and generous and passionate he is. And how could I not have feelings for him? How could I not feel horrible about how we are deceiving him?
I know how hard this is for you.
You need to stay focused on the job at hand, OK?
I know. I know. [sighs] Don’t worry. The officiant’s on his way. Everything will be fine. Oh, yesterday when we got interrupted, you were trying to tell me something. There’s something that Clyde wants you to do?
Don’t worry about that. It’s not important.
Mark Greene and whoever this woman really is who’s pretending to be Abigail, they need to be stopped.
This is just awful.
Yeah, it’s awful. Now, I’m gonna contact Jada, of course, but our first priority is stopping Chad before he marries that woman. I tried to talk him out of it yesterday, but he wouldn’t listen.
OK, I’ll do everything I can to get ahold of him.
All right. All right, babe.
[sighs]
[music intensifies]
