Danny: Hello.
Phyllis: Hi. I was hoping to find daniel here.
Danny: He just took off for a meeting.
Phyllis: Oh, I should know that since I’m his employee.
Danny: Well, I’m sure you can meet up with him over at the office.
Phyllis: Oh, no, that won’t do. Um, I just brought him this housewarming gift. It’s a succulent. They tell me you can’t kill them.
Danny: Oh.
Phyllis: Sort of like me.
Danny: Okay.
Phyllis: Too soon?
Danny: Yeah.
[ Both laughing ]
Phyllis: Okay. Maybe I could just drop it off inside and somewhere where he’ll see it.
Danny: Oh, of course. Yeah. Come on in.
Phyllis: Thank you. I’ll just put it here. Are you working?
Danny: Yes.
Phyllis: Nice setup you have.
Danny: Oh, thank you.
Phyllis: Yeah. Well, I was hoping that I could maybe take daniel out to lunch, but since he’s not here… I mean, I don’t want to screw up your– your genius, creative flow. But maybe I can whisk you away instead.
Chase: Christine.
Christine: Hey. How are you feeling?
Chase: I’m good. I’m good. All healed up.
Christine: Oh, I’m so glad. I mean, a bullet isn’t exactly a great way to welcome in the new chief of police of genoa city. And congratulations again, by the way. You are exactly what the department needs.
Chase: About that. Um, do you mind?
Christine: Yeah.
Chase: Well, I’ve been meaning to call you. I’m, uh, I’m officially leaving the force.
Christine: What? You’re stepping down?
Chase: Yep. Paperwork’s already rolling and everything.
Christine: Oh, this because you were shot? Look, I understand how traumatic that could be. Not only for you but for the people who love you. But, chance, this is a drastic decision. Are you sure?
Chance: Yeah. I’ve given this a lot of thought. You know, it wasn’t spur of the moment or anything.
Christine: I’m just surprised. Righting wrongs, capturing the bad guys. That’s who you are. It’s– it’s been your life for as long as I can remember.
Chloe: Are you trying the peppermint mocha? Because I heard it’s delicious.
Nick: Yeah. Esther’s been pushing that pretty hard lately. It’s making me suspicious. I’m just gonna stick with my tea. See you.
Chloe: Hey, are– are you okay?
Nick: Yeah.
Chloe: Yeah? No– no, you’re not. And I know why.
Nick: You do?
Chloe: Sally.
Nick: Okay. We’re not gonna do this.

Nick: Chloe, my relationship with sally is strictly professional now. And I’m fine with that.
Chloe: Well, I’m not. Look, I– I– I see– I see that it’s happening with my own two eyes. I mean, adam is pulling her back into his evil vortex.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, what could go wrong?
Adam: With us? Everything. Or everything could go very right.
Sally: So, how do we do this whole nondate thing?
Adam: Well, um, I’m gonna have a salad. You’ll probably have a cheeseburger. Rare. And an iced tea because it’s a workday.
Sally: Well, you know me. And you have really thought this through.
Adam: I have. Because this is where we do best. The now. Just you, me, and the daily specials. Not the past, not the future.
Sally: What if I want dessert?
Adam: Oh, dessert is always available.
Sally: Do you really think that we can hit the reset button?
Adam: I’m sure as hell willing to try. And I’m hoping that you are too.
Jordan: It won’t be long now, eve. I promise you that, my sister. The high and mighty newman family will get exactly what they deserve. Every last one of them. And they will never see it coming. Oh, finally, an apb. Took ’em long enough. Oh, not a very flattering picture. “Anyone having any information should call the genoa city anonymous tip line. Immediately.”
Victor: I understand that you’re about to take on claire grace’s case.
Michael: Victor, before you bust my chops–
Victor: I’m not here to criticize you.
Michael: You aren’t?
Victor: No. I understand victoria’s compassion to want to help that woman. Okay? However, I’m concerned about the emotional doors this will open for victoria.
Michael: Meaning?
Victor: Victoria is not as tough as you think she is. Nor is nikki. They’re more fragile, especially after what they’ve gone through. That didn’t stop when we got home. This woman is still a danger. And I’m gonna protect my family come hell or high water.
Victoria: Mom? Hi.
Nikki: Hi, darling.
Victoria: You okay?
Nikki: What is it? What’s wrong?

Michael: A crazy woman who in fact saved all of your lives.
Victor: Wait a minute. Are you defending this monster?
Michael: Look, I’m convinced that jordan is a bona fide card-carrying monster. But claire grace, maybe not so much.
Victor: They can’t take the lawyer out of you. Can they? You’ve already taken on her case, haven’t you? Huh?
Michael: I met with claire. I heard what she had to say. There’s some real pain there, victor.
Victor: Give me a break, will you? Are you crazy or what? She’s putting you on. She’s pulling your leg. She’s nuts.
Michael: She’s also confused and troubled and someone’s child. Maybe even victoria and cole’S.
Victor: You don’t really believe that, do you?
Michael: We won’t know until the dna results come back. But whatever the case, claire deserves to find out who she is. She needs some help.
Victor: What if you work your lawyerly magic and this woman goes free? She comes back to haunt us.
Michael: What if we work our magic? And that woman actually has an opportunity to have a real life?
Victor: Let me make myself very clear. She nearly killed all of us. I want that woman behind bars.
Michael: Even if she’s your granddaughter?
Victor: Will you stop this nonsense?
Michael: All right. I’m going to be at claire’s arraignment today in oregon.
Victor: Wait a minute. I do not wish you good luck. You got that?
Nikki: What is it, darling? What is happening?
Victoria: Michael has agreed to take claire’s case.
Nikki: He has?
Victoria: Yes. He spoke with her at length. And he is as convinced as cole and I that claire is just as much a victim of jordan’s as we were.
Nikki: Well, she’s either a victim or an award-winning actress.
Victoria: I know, mom. I know that more questions need to be answered, but michael is on his way to oregon now for her arraignment. So claire could be– she could be free on bail by today.
Nikki: Are you kidding me?
Victoria: Look, we wanted to move quickly on this, whatever it takes.
Nikki: Let me guess. You’re posting her bail?
Victoria: Well, claire doesn’t have anyone else.
Nikki: Sweetheart. Do you really think this is a good idea?
Victoria: I don’t know if it’s a good idea. I don’t know. But it’s– it’s the right thing to do.
Nikki: And because of your big heart, that psychotic young woman could be out on the streets, running loose. God knows where. Honey, could you please get me a drink of water?
Victoria: Yeah, of course. Cole and I discussed it with michael and he’s gonna do some legal maneuvering to see if he can get claire relocated to genoa city.
Nikki: What? I mean, you’re not expecting her to live with you, are you?
Victoria: No, mom. Of course not. The goal is to have her placed in a mental health facility where she can start receiving the treatment that she needs immediately.
Nikki: She’s really gotten to you, hasn’t she?
Victoria: Look, claire was scared and she was really confused. But when she found out that jordan had lied to her, and used her and groomed her all this time… she really regretted everything that she had done.
Nikki: Maybe. Or maybe this is part of a bigger scheme. Feeding on your compassion and your uncertainty as to whether she really is your daughter. And like magic, you get an amazing attorney. She goes free. She finds jordan and the two of them launch another deadly campaign on our family.
Jordan: Is this the genoa city police tip line? I have information about that woman you’re looking for. I’m afraid she’s gonna do something to hurt that poor newman family again.

Adam: Oh, I– I almost forgot. You used to douse your burger and fries in this.
Sally: Is this safe? Bringing our past into our lunch?
Adam: You know, hot sauce is– is timeless.
Sally: Well, you speak the truth, sir.

Sally: Yeah. It’s great. I wake up every single morning, excited for the possibilities and all of our projects. And now that I have my wing woman working with me again, the sky is the limit.
Adam: I’m glad that chloe came on board.
Sally: Are you?
Adam: I know that she despises me.
Sally: Well, I wouldn’t say that she despises you.
Adam: You wouldn’t say that?
Sally: Chloe… hates you to the bone.
Adam: Thank you.
Sally: Well–
Adam: For that.
Sally: Just keeping it real.
Adam: Regardless of how chloe feels about me. I’m just glad that you’re working with a friend. And someone you trust. Someone that will… you know, always have your back.
Nick: It is not my job to save sally from adam. She needs to figure that out on her own.
Chloe: But you and sally were magic.
Nick: Look, I liked what we had. I thought it was good, but… adam did what he does best. He blew it up.
Chloe: Okay. So then un-blow it up, nick. Help her see who he really is.
Nick: It’s too late for that.
Chloe: No, it’s not. Because there’s still a chance for you and sally.
Nick: Chloe, adam is a disaster.
Chloe: Yeah. Well, I’m not gonna argue with you on that.
Nick: And everybody knows that and they steer clear of him. But not sally. She knows exactly who he is. And she was willing to risk everything to be with him. That tells me everything I need to know.
Chloe: Okay. And that’s exactly why you need to do something. I mean, nothing about the situation with adam is rational. He has confused her. He has messed with her mind. Sally cannot be held responsible.
Nick: Sally’s an adult.
Chloe: And you abandoned her.
Nick: No, I did not. I backed away so I could give her some time to figure things out on her own.
Chloe: Well, guess what? Sally thinks you don’t want to be with her. All she needs is for you to say that you want to give your relationship another chance. And she will make the right decision. I mean, nick, if you really love her, how can you give up so easily?
Victoria: Mom, if claire sincerely wants to get better, doesn’t she deserve a chance?
Nikki: You’re closer to believing she actually is your daughter, aren’t you?
Victoria: I’m waiting for the dna results.
Nikki: Well, and that’s another thing. You said that claire only agreed to a dna test if you got her an attorney. My, she’s the self-serving sort, isn’t she? What if she changes her mind?
Victoria: Cole and i already thought of that. We didn’t get a– a sample from her directly. Cole went back to the lake house and he found– he found some items with her dna. And he took those and samples from us to get a rush dna test.
Nikki: Good. Then you’ll have your answers with or without her cooperation.
Victoria: Yes, we will. We will.
Nikki: You know what I think?
Victoria: I’m sure you’re going to tell me, mom.
Nikki: I think that she is playing on your confusion and compassion and using it to her own advantage. And honey, no good can come from that.
Victoria: She might be my daughter.
Nikki: I know. But baby, even if she is so much time has passed. You can’t go back.
Victoria: I know. I know.
Nikki: So… what are you hoping for in the future?
Victoria: I can’t even begin to think about that. That this baby that cole and I… mourned all these years, could be alive. It’s just– it’s really too much. I just– I have to focus on what’s in front of me right now. Which is a very damaged young woman, who needs help. Who’s been horribly corrupted and manipulated by jordan’s obsession with our family.
Jordan: I saw a woman matching the description right here in genoa city. At the south side motel. It was terrifying. I felt if– if she came all this way, she must be up to something no good. So I wanted to call you pronto. Yes. The south side motel. 4836 north laurel drive. Room 158. You’re welcome. I’m very happy to help you bring this evil woman to justice. It won’t be long now.

Danny: Yeah. It’s, uh, a new song I’m fine-tuning. Gonna put it on the new album.
Phyllis: New album? Oh, my gosh, danny. That’s so exciting.
Danny: Yeah. It’s been a long time. I can’t tell you how, um, energized I feel. I mean, it’s gonna be so good getting back into the recording studio.
Phyllis: I’m so excited for you. Hey, that song that I helped you with, is that gonna be on your new album?
Danny: Absolutely.
Phyllis: Gosh, I love that. I helped you with that bridge thing you said, right?
Danny: Yeah.
Phyllis: You said that I inspired you.
Danny: That’s right. You did.
Phyllis: I love that. I’m sort of like your muse, right? Unless christine is your muse?
Danny: You know what? I am really hungry and I am going to take you up on that lunch offer. What do you say?
Chance: It wasn’t an easy decision. But it’s the right one.
Christine: I understand that. I’m sure your mom’s thrilled.
Chance: Yeah. That’s putting it mildly.
Christine: So, have you given any thoughts of what you’re gonna do?
Chance: Well, jill has offered me a position at chancellor-winters.
Christine: Huh. Ah, the corporate world.
Chance: You say it like it’s a bad thing.
Christine: Chance… you have saved lives. You’ve protected people who can’t protect themselves. You’re the best of the best. The world needs more chance chancellors, not more businessmen.
Chance: Not everybody in business is a ruthless cutthroat, you know? Who knows? Maybe I’ll do some good.
Christine: Of course, you– I have– I have no doubt. I shouldn’t be negative. I should wish you well and say all the best, but…
[ Sighs ] There is just this part of me that finds it hard to believe that you’re gonna be able to walk away from something that’s so important to you.
Chance: Yeah.
Victor: There you are, my sweetheart.
Victoria: Hi, dad. It’s so good to see you.
Victor: Same to you. How are you?
Nikki: I’m fine.
Victor: Yeah?
Nikki: I came home from work early today but I’m okay.
Victor: Okay. You haven’t heard a word from that, uh, jordan woman?
Nikki: No.
Victor: Maybe that’s because they’re closing in on her.
Nikki: They have a lead?
Victor: They saw a woman fitting her description checking into a motel on the outskirts of town.
Nikki: Oh, my god. She’s here, in genoa city?
Victor: No one is sure yet. I’m going to check it out. Okay?
Victoria: If jordan is in town, then she’s not done with us.
Victor: That’s right. That is why, my sweetheart, you need to stay here at the ranch. I want you to be safe and sound.
Nikki: You want me to hide?
Victor: No, sweetheart, I want you to be safe.
Nikki: Victor, no. I’m not going to let that woman keep me prisoner ever again.

Nick: Nothing about this has been easy. But I’ve accepted it. Sally wants adam. It’s who she’s always wanted.
Chloe: No. That is– is not true. Adam is tricking sally to make her believe he is what she wants. He’s just manipulating her. You are the one, nick. You are the one that she needs. You are the one that can love her the way that she deserves to be loved. Adam is just gonna break her heart, again. And I cannot stand by and watch that snake turn my friend into roadkill again.
Nick: Um, the fact that you’ve always been in my corner means a lot. Thank you. It’s gonna work out. All right? Maybe not the way you were hoping, but it will work out.
Chloe: Nick. Nick. You– you are sweet and dreamy. And strong and sane. Sally is so great. You could be great together. All you have to do is fight for her. Please.
Sally: Am I leaving the now zone if I ask how things are going at newman? Are you and your dad still hugging it out?
Adam: We are.
Sally: Well, victor. Who knew he had it in him?
Adam: Yeah, it’s a whole new era of… positive connection, and… communication. At least for now.
Sally: Man, wild. I mean, you went back to newman to… try and tear it apart. Now you’re like teacher’s pet. I really don’t even understand how that’s possible.
Adam: Well, you know, there is this radical concept called honesty.
Sally: Honesty? Novel approach for you.
Adam: I know, right?
Sally: It’s a big risk. It could have totally backfired.
Adam: Well, it was worth the risk, to be honest with you. When I believed that victor was ill… everything shifted. I mean, how I felt about him. Everything that I thought I knew. And then it hit me. I’m not ready to let the old man go.
Sally: Because you love him?
Adam: If we’re keeping it real? More like if victor and i are destined to battle to the death… I’m gonna need him in peak form.
Victor: Sweetheart, there’s nothing wrong with staying at home and working from here for a few days.
Nikki: I will not let jordan win.
Victor: Listen to me. That woman is very dangerous, and you know it. And she’s targeting you specifically.
Victoria: I wonder why she’s targeting you, mom, instead of dad? I mean, you’re the one that her sister seemed so obsessed with.
Victor: That’s an old story. Okay? I once had an affair with her sister, eve howard. And I rejected her. A nutcase as well. This jordan woman never got over it. So she wants to get even with me by hurting my wife. Oh, good. My man is at the motel. What? But they found evidence that the jordan woman is intending to do some more damage.
Nikki: But she isn’t there?
[ Victor sighs ]
Victor: No. I’m gonna go there myself and check it out. One second here. Nicholas.
Nick: What’s up, dad?
Victor: Listen, there’s some development regarding this jordan woman. So meet me at the athletic club, okay?
Nick: Yeah. I’m on my way.
Victor: All right. Thank you. You stay here.
Nikki: All right.
Victor: Thank you. I want you to be safe. Okay, my darling, I’ll keep you informed, okay?
Victoria: Oh, and daddy, please be careful.

Nikki: Jordan in genoa city. That is terrifying.
Victoria: Mom, I was gonna go into the office but I can just as easily work from here. I don’t want you to be alone.
Nikki: No, honey, don’t worry about me. I’ll– I’ll be fine.
Summer: Hey, you.
Chance: Hi.
Summer: This looks kind of serious.
Christine: Chance was just telling me about his plans to leave the force.
Summer: And I take it you don’t approve of his decision?
Christine: Well, I mean, it’s gonna take some getting used to. Protect and serve is in this man’s dna. I’m having a little bit of a hard time picturing him in an office with numbers and quarterly reports.
Summer: Well, luckily, business is also in his dna. So I think he’s gonna be amazing.
Christine: Yeah. I have no doubt.
Chance: Well, you’re making some changes as well, right? You’re stepping down from da. Getting into pro bono work, I hear.
Christine: Mhm-hm. It’s a way I can help people who need it the most. Listen, I, um, I really wish you the best. Okay?

Danny: Yeah, uh, phyllis came by to take daniel for lunch and I, you know, I was there and she got me instead.
Christine: She did.
Phyllis: He was working so hard on his album. Do you know that I inspired one of his songs?
Christine: Really?
Phyllis: He was working so hard. I just begged him to go out with me and he graciously accepted my invitation.
Christine: Yeah. That’s– that’s danny. Gracious to a fault.
Phyllis: Well, anyway, I don’t want to keep you. You seem like you’re on your way out, so…
Christine: Can I talk to you for a sec?
Danny: Yeah, of course. Um, I’ll, uh, I’ll be right back.
Phyllis: Okay.
Danny: Hey. Is everything okay?
Christine: Having lunch with phyllis? Really? We had such a wonderful night. I thought, I– I don’t know. It meant a lot to me. So did I get that wrong? Because now you’re here with her, I…
Danny: Cricket…
Christine: Okay. Wait, I– I just heard what I said back. I sound like a jealous teenager.
Phyllis: So, you guys catching a little lunch?
Summer: Uh, no, we just, um, ran into each other here.
Chance: Yeah.
Phyllis: Same with danny and me.
[ Adam talking indistinctly ]
Victor: Ah, there you are. So… what are you looking at?
Victoria: I don’t want to leave you, mom. It just doesn’t feel right.
Nikki: Don’t be silly, darling. I’ll be perfectly fine.
Victoria: Are you sure?
Nikki: Our security team is already on high alert. You’re just as– just as bad as your father.
Victoria: It’s because I love you.
Nikki: Well, that’s what he always says too. But don’t worry, I will be perfectly fine. I love you too.
Victoria: All right. Just make sure that you call me if that jordan woman texts you anything.
Nikki: I will.
Victoria: Okay. I love you.

Sally: Is it getting weird again?
Adam: Nope, not at all. I’m just trying to figure out how to proceed.
Sally: Sounds tricky.
Adam: I think this went pretty well.
Sally: Surprisingly.
Adam: So, what do you think? Are we ready for a straight-up date or is that moving too fast? Where we get a picnic in the park.
Sally: It’s december.
Adam: Cocktails, then. I mean, I don’t want to push.
Sally: I think we should just go for it. It’s kind of our style.
Adam: For better or worse?
Sally: Then dinner it is.
Danny: Phyllis and I, we– we share a son, and… she’s struggling right now.
Christine: Yeah. But she’s brought that on herself.
Danny: Yes. She has. But she is trying so hard right now to–
Christine: Yeah. I know. I know. Be a better person.
Danny: And I believe it. She just needs some help getting there, you know? And… this lunch with phyllis is, it’s really just two old friends enjoying themselves. And– and reconnecting. And that’s it.
Christine: Is that what dinner was? Just two old friends enjoying each other?
Danny: No. No, I– I’d like to think our dinner was about the future. Not the past. And I– I really hope we can do it again.
Christine: So do I.
Victor: Good work.
Nick: Thank you.
Victor: Well, I’ll be damned.
Nick: Looks like jordan brought all of her favorite things, including her sister.
Victor: Something about this doesn’t seem right.
Nick: What do you mean?
Victor: Too easy. Just a tip to come here? This is obviously a setup.
Claire: They said I had a visitor but I didn’t expect it to be you.
Michael: Who were you expecting?
Claire: Good point.
[ Michael sighs ]
Michael: You did ask for my help, claire. Didn’t you?
Claire: Yeah, but i didn’t think you’d actually come back.
Michael: Well, I’m here. And this is what we’re gonna do. I’m going to request your immediate release so that you can enter a mental health diversion program.
Claire: It’s that simple?
Michael: Well, there’s a mountain of paperwork to be filed and judges to be convinced along the way. But, um, yes… it’s relatively simple. However, there is one thing I’m gonna need you to do.
Claire: What’s that?
Michael: Plead guilty by reason of insanity.
Jordan: It’s perfect. It’s absolutely perfect.
