Taylor: Hey, thanks for treating me to lunch.
Brooke: Of course. My pleasure.
[ Brooke sighing ] Steffy and finn meeting with the judge has me a little bit anxious.
Taylor: Yeah, me too. But the good thing is sheila’s been caught. She is going down. There is no way she’s going to walk free again.
Brooke: Maybe it’ll be good for steffy and finn. They’ll have some sort of closure. They’ll be able to go on record and talk about the pain and suffering that sheila inflicted on them.
Taylor: Yeah. I hope it’s cathartic for both of them. I really do. Once the judge has their testimony, it’s the end of the road for poor, misunderstood sheila carter.
[ Taylor chuckling ]
Mcmullen: I’ve called you all here today to reaffirm the charges that have been brought forth against ms. Carter. This is a– a highly unusual case and I just want to make sure everything is in order.
So, dr. Finnegan,
what say you?
Are you prepared to provide
testimony and move forward
with the case?
B
Taylor: Mm. Mm-hm.
Brooke: Mm-hm?
Taylor: Mm-hm. Who would’ve ever thought taylor hayes and brooke logan spending an afternoon together?
Brooke: Not because we have to, but because we want to.
Taylor: That’s right.
Brooke: You know, all that anger we had directed at each other, now we can put that somewhere else. Into sheila.
Taylor: Yes! Into sheila because she’s the actual villain, right? We were just– we were just caught in a toxic cycle and lots of family drama.
Brooke: Mm-hm. The attack was coming from the outside. Sheila carter was the threat to our safety and our happiness.
Taylor: Yeah, and you know what? Now, we can finally celebrate because we will never be victims of sheila carter ever again.
Mcmullen: You may proceed, dr. Finnegan.
Bill: The terms of my
deal remain the same:
Sheila’s freedom for
taylor’s freedom.
Mcmullen: We’re waiting, dr. Finnegan. Is there a problem?
Finn: Uh, your honor, I… have nothing to say.
Bill: Atta boy. Why give your family just any eggs
Brooke: We are a family of survivors.
Taylor: Yes, we are.
Brooke: We are.
Taylor: Yeah.
Brooke: We’ve survived a lot. We’ve survived sheila, we’ve survived years of going back and forth with ridge.
Taylor: How are you really doing with all of that? You know, I mean, I know that you’re used to having someone in your life.
Brooke: Hm. Yeah, that is true. I look back at certain phases and I think, “why was I so needy?”
Taylor: Hm.
Brooke: I’ve come to realize I’m happier putting myself first and whatever that may look like from here on out.
Taylor: We really are redefining ourselves.
Brooke: We are. Redefining, evolving, maturing.
[ Taylor chuckling ]
Taylor: Yeah, we’re– we’re really evolving. It feels so good, you know? Kind of going through a growth spurt.
Brooke: Mm-hm. So, you’re really not thinking about ridge, waiting for him to come back?
Taylor: Oh, um, he left me at the altar for the last time. Oh, gosh, you know. I get that he had to go away and process, but man, you know, it left a mark, it really did. It’s what? A couple weeks later and it still stings.
Brooke: I’m sure it was painful.
Taylor: It was a painful situation all around.
Brooke: It was hard on ridge too.
Taylor: I’m just glad that he’s doing some soul searching.
Brooke: Yeah, it’s about time.
Taylor: Yes, it’s about time.
[ Both laughing ]
Brooke: I think that we’re all taking a step back and reevaluating our lives.
Taylor: Yeah. So, what is next on the horizon for you, brooke logan?
Brooke: Oh, uh…
Taylor: Like, you know, dating?
Brooke: Dating? No, no.
Taylor: Bill spencer maybe. I don’t know. He’s– he’s always had such a thing for you and you guys were good together, you know. I mean, he– he seems like he’s like this lone wolf kind of guy, but he always likes to have a woman in his life.
Brooke: Oh, well, it certainly isn’t me and it certainly isn’t katie. And if there is a woman in bill’s life, I certainly don’t know who it is.
Mcmullen: You have nothing to say?
Finn: No.
Mcmullen: Am I to understand that you are no longer willing to testify?
Finn: That’s correct.
Mcmullen: Are– are you no longer seeking to press charges against the defendant? You changed your mind?
Finn: Yes.
Mcmullen: Well, all right then. It’s time for ms. Forrester–
Sheila: If I could have a moment, please, to say a few words, your honor.
Attorney: As your attorney, I strongly advise–
Sheila: I would only take a few minutes, please.
Mcmullen: Counsel?
Attorney: My client would
like to address you directly.
Mcmullen: All right. I’ll allow it. Go ahead, ms. Carter.
Sheila: Thank you. Judge mcmullen, we all know why we’re here today. It’s because of me. My actions, my mistakes and I– I never meant to hurt you, finn or steffy. I love you more than anything, finn, and I am so proud of the man that you have become and the father that you are to my beautiful grandson, hayes. Finn, I… I know how much you adore steffy, and steffy, I– I see the joy and the– the love that you have brought to my son’s life and I am forever indebted to you for that. And the beautiful grandson that you gave me. I am your mother-in-law. I am and always will be family. I know how close you are and how loyal you are to your mother, and I know what a great role model taylor has been for you all these years. She’s an incredible woman a woman with an immaculate reputation. When I first came to los angeles, she’s the one person that gave me a chance. She– she gave me the opportunity to show you that I deserved a place in this family, and I will never forget that. All I want is for you and finn and your family to be happy. I just want the best for you. That’s it, I’m– thank you for allowing me to say a few words today, your honor.
Mcmullen: Ms. Forrester, are you ready? #1 isn’t a status earned overnight.
Taylor: Okay.
Brooke: Oh, wow.
Taylor: Hold on, can you get this?
Brooke: Oh, nice.
Taylor: Oh, my gosh. A forrester original.
Brooke: Thank you for being my fit model.
Taylor: No, you’re welcome. This is beautiful.
Brooke: Woo, woo!
Taylor: Wheesh. Yes?
[ Both laughing ]
Brooke: You look flawless, taylor.
Taylor: Thank you.
Brooke: You always do.
Taylor: Oh, my gosh. Thank you. I definitely have my fair share of sweatpants moments too.
Brooke: Oh, I’m sure you look amazing in your sweatpants. It’s– it’s so annoying.
Taylor: Oh, stop. Says the quintessential california woman. Every man’s dream.
Brooke: Well, not every man’S.
Taylor: Mm. Listen, ridge should be lucky to have either of us.
Brooke: Yeah.
Taylor: Yeah.
Brooke: I guess we should both be proud of everything we’ve accomplished.
Taylor: Yes. And there’s more to come. I can feel it.
Brooke: Okay, I just need more of that energy.
Taylor: Yeah.
Brooke: Which is hard to drum up sometimes.
Taylor: I know, but you know what? With age comes wisdom. And back aches. Listen, I– I know that we’re doing the right thing by– by just choosing ourselves, but that’s also going to mean time alone.
Brooke: Yeah, okay. Well, speaking of time alone.
Taylor: Mm-hm.
Brooke: How about we have a girls’ night? Just bring over popcorn and whatever else and we’ll just binge watch some shows.
Taylor: That sounds amazing. I am in. Yes.
Brooke: Okay.
Taylor: I’d love that.
Brooke: I know I said this before, but I am happy that you came over today.
Taylor: I am too. You know, it’s nice to have you here with me, on this journey, and especially everything that’s going on with sheila, I think you might be the only one who understands what a liability she’s been.
Brooke: I really wonder what’s going on over there at the courthouse.
Taylor: Oh, I bet it’s a celebration for one side. With steffy and finn’s testimony, this case is a slam dunk.
Brooke: Oh, yes!
Mcmullen: Ms. Forrester.
Bill: Come on.
Steffy: Your honor… you say you’re sorry for hurting us, you claim to love us, that we’re family. That’s something I try to wipe from my mind every single day. You’re not my mother-in-law. You’re not a friend. You have no idea the pain you caused me and my family.
You say you respect and
admire my mother.
Sheila: And I do, steffy.
I want taylor’s happiness
and I know you do too.
Attorney: Your honor, this is highly unorthodox.
Mcmullen: Ms. Forrester, I am waiting.
Steffy: Um… by being here today, I was, um… I was hoping to gain some closure. To finally feel that justice would be served. I’m still hoping that’s the case. Whether sheila is in prison because of finn and me or not. But as long as sheila is alive, she will always haunt us and my memories. But you will play no part in my future. None whatsoever, whether you pay for your crimes or not. No words have the power to erase what you’ve done to us. None. That’s all I have to say.
Mcmullen: That’s it? No testimony, no… nothing in regards to the charges that have been brought forth on ms. Carter? Nothing?
Steffy: No. I have nothing else to say. I am no longer pressing charges.
Finn: You did the right thing.
Steffy: It’s fine. Our charges aren’t the only ones necessary to convict her. We have enough evidence to put her behind bars for many years to come.
[Sfx: Stomach gurgling]
Taylor: Thank you again for a lovely lunch.
Brooke: Oh, of course. I’m already looking forwards to our girls’ night.
Taylor: I am too. And I am free anytime, by the way. My schedule is wide open.
Brooke: I think mine’s pretty clear too.
Taylor: Oh, my gosh. I need to check on a patient.
Brooke: Oh, okay.
Taylor: I’ve been here for a while, and then I’m going to race over to steffy and finn’s to congratulate them on their triumph today! The nightmare of sheila carter is finally over.
Brooke: Oh, yes! I am so happy for you and your family. Oh.
Taylor: Thank you.
Mcmullen: I just want
to be certain that both
ms. Forrester and
dr. Finnegan are choosing
not to testify and further rescinding the charges that were previously brought against ms. Carter. Is that correct?
Finn: Yes, your honor.
Steffy: Yes. But there are other charges against sheila. Major charges. I’m confident she won’t be a free woman for a very long time.
Mcmullen: Actually, there’s been some new evidence that has been brought to my attention recently. Some really compelling evidence. Ms. Carter was previously suspected of escaping custody. However, I have a sworn affidavit from a former corrections officer who was on duty that day, a mr. Mike guthrie.
Mr. Guthrie has stated
that he coerced ms. Carter
and removed her from her
jail cell against her will.
Finn: What?
Steffy: Wait, you’re saying that sheila was kidnapped by mike guthrie?
Mcmullen: That is correct.
Finn: With all due respect, you– how does someone get kidnapped out of prison?
Mcmullen: I had the same question, but there’s indisputable video footage which corroborates mr. Guthrie’s story. So, unfortunately, this is just a failure of our penal system.
Steffy: What– what are you talking about? I don’t understand what that means.
Mcmullen: Since there was no further charges brought forward and both of you refused to testify, along with dropping your own charges, which I will notify the state about, I have no other choice but to release ms. Carter.
Finn: Release?
Steffy: You can’t do that.
Mcmullen: Case dismissed. That’s it for today.
Please remove ms. Carter’s
handcuffs and escort her
from my chambers.
She’s free to go.
Steffy: No, no, no, no. This is– this is wrong.
Finn: Your honor.
Steffy: She– sheila’s dangerous, she faked her own death, she hid from the police. This is wrong! She can’t be free! No, you have to do something, no! You can’t do this.
