Victoria: I think we should have press conferences every day. I’ve forgotten how much fun they can be when they’re for a good reason.
Nikki: Oh, she’s addicted to the buzz.
Nick: Because they’re all about her.
Victoria: That is not true. There is a lot of excitement surrounding your return to the company.
Nikki: Yes, everybody loves a comeback.
Victoria: However, I did notice that someone was conspicuously silent on the matter. Adam.
Nick: He said he was gonna walk away.
Victoria: Well, I guess he meant at this time.
Nikki: Well, then what you said earlier is true. We will make sure that newman media is our first order of business.
Sally: [ Sighs ]
Adam: In answer to your first question, I am here.
Sally: Oh, my god, thank goodness. I thought something happened to you or that you were ghosting me.
Adam: Yeah, I’m al in one piece, unharmed. See?
Sally: So you were avoiding me.
Noah: Coffee’s on me, so order whatever you like.
Allie: Wow, that’s rather magnanimous of you for a guy who’s never paid for a cup of coffee here in his life because his mom owns the place.
Noah: Do you want one or not?
Allie: Iced with the works.
Noah: Okay. Whipped cream?
Allie: Sure. Why not? I feel like I’ve been good today.
Noah: Oh, you have been exactly what I needed for much longer than that. You stuck around to listen while I figured out the whole new hope thing.
Allie: And what to do with your life.
Noah: And most people would’ve told me to shut up and get on with it already.
Allie: Noah, hey, listen, it’s a big decision. You’re about to go seriously disappoint your father, and these things have to be handled very carefully.
Noah: Okay, you did not just say that.
Allie: I know it sounds harsh, but I promise you that I am helping.
Noah: How exactly are you helping?
Allie: By giving you reminders of what the worst will happen, it’ll build up your immunity to it.
Noah: Hmm. Okay. Well, maybe you can help me come up with some ways to not feel like a total jerk for leaving my dad’s charity.
Allie: I’m just being realistic. Look, your father is kind and understanding and laid back, but this isn’t gonna be an easy conversation.
Noah: Yeah. Hey, you know what I should do? I should just bring you along with me. That way, you can blurt out the bad news before I get a chance to say anything.
Allie: You mean like I just did with your sister and her wife?
Noah: Mm-hmm. It’s good to know you can keep a secret.
Allie: That’s not true. Most of the time, I am a vault. I don’t know what happened earlier.
Noah: Maybe I just make you nervous. Is it my devilish good looks, or perhaps it’s my unique brand of humor?
Allie: What you might have seen there was me being afraid that you were gonna make a joke and I would have to scrape up a pity laugh. I’m so sorry, though, for telling mariah and tessa.
Noah: It’s okay. I wanted their opinion almost as much as I wanted yours.
Allie: Don’t give me credit for that. You made this decision on your own.
Noah: You know, you really got to quit it with this excessive of modesty thing. Sometimes you just got to take the compliment. You know, live in the moment.
Phyllis: Hey, allie, noah. Look at you two. You’re so adorable together.
Ashley: And I’m telling you, your granddaughter was the absolute star at jabot today. She asked all the right questions. She knew all the right answers at the orientation.
Jack: You already have the reviews from chemists in the lab.
Ashley: They love her.
Jack: I knew they would.
Ashley: She’s familiar with the equipment already, jack. She’s making herself at home. She’s gonna run the joint pretty soon.
Jack: She is keemo’s daughter.
Ashley: She’s so smart. She’s so intuitive. Just like her father.
Jack: You know what, I missed such important time with him, but having her here, helping nurture her skills in the family business is a dream come true.
Ashley: Proud grandpa speaking here.
Jack: Yeah. Hey, make no mistake. No special favors. She sinks or swims 100% on her own.
Ashley: She’s made it clear she wants nothing special just because she’s an abbott.
Jack: I think this is gonna work out. I hope it does.
Ashley: You hope it does, huh? Of course it will. She’s happy. And how’s jack? Is jack happy?
Jack: No complaints.
Ashley: Well, I was thinking about asking about your love life.
Jack: No, don’t do that.
Ashley: Haven’t seen phyllis around lately.
Jack: Yeah, we’re both very busy people.
Ashley: Not that long ago, you were joined at the hip.
Jack: Well, that’s kind of an exaggeration, isn’t it?
Ashley: She did it, didn’t she?
Jack: What? What are you saying?
Ashley: Phyllis pulled a phyllis.
Jack: I don’t even know what that means.
Ashley: Jack, you know exactly what it means. What did she do? Listen, I’m done settling. Because this is my secret.

Adam: I never went to chicago.
Sally: Okay. Well… what did you do instead?
Adam: I went over this latest mind game that my father played, how I responded. I looked at every move and countermove that we’ve made since this whole thing started.
Sally: Okay, why didn’t you just tell me that or, better yet, use me as your sounding board?
Adam: Well, I just needed some time to be alone. I needed to understand why I allowed myself to be manipulated into thinking that he believed in me. I mean, he dangled the ceo position in front of me, and I — I fell for it. Twice.
Sally: Well, yeah, I mean, what your father did was inexcusable, but you shouldn’t beat yourself up for trusting him.
Adam: Well, trusting him was a huge mistake. And it’s just… it’s made me question everything that I’ve done since I came back to this town. Everything that I’ve done to infuriate him, undermine his trust, question my ability, my fitness for the job, which is why you were the last person that I need as a sounding board right now.
Sally: Why would you say that?
Adam: Because I realized you are the reason I am on the outside. You are standing between me and everything that I want.
Phyllis: Hey, your internship at jabot is starting soon, right?
Allie: Wow. You remembered.
Phyllis: Of course. Of course. It’s a really big deal. You know, those chemists, they — they churn out dozens of new product year after year. And when a bright new chemist enters, I mean, it’s a game changer.
Allie: You know, in chemistry, you call that a catalyst.
Phyllis: Ah.
Allie: I actually just had my orientation.
Phyllis: That’s great. Congratulations.
Allie: Thank you.
Phyllis: Did jack happen to tell you that I was once ceo at jabot?
Allie: I’m not really sure.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Allie: Yeah.
Phyllis: Well, I mean, if you ever want to talk, I can give you some insight as to how everything’s run there. In fact, why don’t I get some drinks and some pastries and we could talk now?
Noah: Oh, no, she can’T.
Phyllis: Why not?
Noah: Uh, we — we have that thing that we’re going to, and we don’t want to be late to that because…
Allie: He’s great. I’m so sorry, but I’m sure you understand.
Noah: Busy woman like phyllis, better believe she does. Matter of fact, we have taken up way too much time as it is, so we should probably go on.
Allie: I’m sure we’ll catch up soon. I’ll talk to you later, phyllis. Okay. Bye.
Diane: Wow. You can really clear a room.
Jack: There are certain aspects of my life I am not comfortable sharing with my sister.
Ashley: Oh, shush, you can share everything with me. You know that by now. So what happened?
Jack: Phyllis lured me into a romantic assignation in her hotel, and then contrived to have diane see what I foolishly thought was an intimate moment between the two of us.
Ashley: Hmm. How childish of her.
Jack: Yeah, what I thought was a giant step in my relationship with phyllis, she thought of as an opportunity to send diane a message. And don’t let this fuel your ongoing animosity toward phyllis.
Ashley: Why couldn’t it be both?
Jack: Meaning what?
Ashley: Why couldn’t this be a big step in your relationship, but also, why can’t phyllis be making a point with diane?
Jack: Why, ashley, it almost sounds like you are defending phyllis’ actions.
Ashley: No, listen. Okay, phyllis is still not my favorite person, but this is diane jenkins we’re talking about, and we both know what she’s capable of. So if you look at the situation from that perspective, it makes sense that phyllis would want to set some boundaries proactively. And this is phyllis we’re talking about, so if you were expecting subtlety, well, shame on you.
Jack: You’re saying I should forgive phyllis. How did olay top expensive creams?
Phyllis: Well, I didn’t clear a room. You’re still here.
Diane: [ Scoffs ] We both know that noah and allie didn’t have a thing to go to. They’re trying to get away from you.
Phyllis: You don’t know what you’re talking about.
Diane: You know, maybe she’s onto you. Maybe she’s picked up on the fact that you were trying to make her your bestie so she’ll go back to jack and tell him how nice you are. And then he’ll change his mind, and then he’ll have you back in his life.
Phyllis: Okay, that’s not what I’m doing.
Diane: Yes, you are. I know it, allie knows it, and jack will know it, too. You’re using his granddaughter. It’s not a good look.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] Before I make a final decision about the fate of sally spectra, I’d like to hear from the other valued members of my executive team.
Nikki: I agree with your previous assessment. Newman media needs a qualified leader, someone who is used to making deals and being in the front of the pack. It is impossible to ignore that sally has zero experience leading a media entity. There’s also the adam thing. We all know he’ll be pulling her strings, even though he said he’s walking away from the company and her.
Nikki: What? They’re breaking up? Well, that’s interesting timing.
Victoria: I’d love to hear your take.
Nikki: I wouldn’t be surprised if adam is just pretending to break up with her so that we will keep her on as ceo of the media division.
Victoria: Nick said the same thing. Well, you know my thinking on the matter, and since we’re all in agreement and we’ve had total transparency, I think we need to handle this as soon as possible.
Nikki: I have a meeting with the real-estate division, so I will leave the two of you to let sally know that her services are no longer required.
Sally: It’s natural for you to be curious and looking for someone to blame. Your sister put the entire company at risk, and then your father reinstated her so fast it broke speed records. And your brother, who turned his back on the entire business, handed a job in the c-suite. They’re the ones that deserve your anger. But blaming me makes absolutely no sense because I’ve been the one that stood by you and believed in you, and that’s never changed.
Adam: Sally, you were the one who sabotaged victor’s granddaughter. Okay, you’re universally despised by his inner circle, and you nearly sabotaged the newman media launch. Okay? I made you a fixture in my life, and you’ve just become a huge liability.
Sally: Victor may hate the things that I’ve done, but the fact that I’m still here proves that he’s come to look at me differently. He’s accepted me and maybe even respects me a little.
Adam: But it’s made him stop respecting me. This isn’t about your talent, it’s not about your intellect. It’s because I chose to keep you in my life. And it’s cost me everything that I have ever wanted, okay? You’re the reason that I’m even in this position.
Sally: Why are you being so cruel?
Adam: I’m not being cruel. I’m being honest.
Sally: Do you hear yourself right now? How crazy you sound?
Adam: The really crazy thing is making the choice to be with you at all.
Adam: I should have listened to my father. I should have taken him seriously when he said you were bad news. He had a lot more concerns than I let on.
Sally: Why would you hide that from me?
Adam: I wanted to spare your feelings. And in time, he stopped letting his displeasures be known, but he found another way to get his message through loud and clear.
Sally: How?
Adam: By refusing to consider me as someone who could be the rightful heir of newman enterprises. Okay, he dangled the prize right in front of me, first by making me ceo and then installing me in the job to lure victoria back. I mean, I deluded myself into thinking that I could use those opportunities to prove that I am worthy to him. But you see, his mind, it was already made up. “Stay with this woman, and I will never respect you.”
Sally: I am not buying any of this. You don’t give a damn what your father thinks about me.
Adam: Okay. Well, I care about the consequences.
Sally: Stop acting like this.
Adam: This is who I am. Don’t you know that? Okay, billy laid out my history in graphic detail, sally. You came into this thing with your eyes wide open.
Sally: You told me you loved me. And you showed me in ways that are impossible to fake.
Adam: I’m not saying that I didn’t love you. I’M…just saying I didn’t love you enough.
Sally: You told me that I was what you always needed. And you meant it. I know you did. So how can you just stand there and pretend like you don’t care?
[ Chuckles ] Wait a second, un– unless that is why you’re doing it. Because you told me that you were gonna find a solution that works for everyone. You — you were gonna do whatever it took to keep me in that chair.
Adam: No, I said a lot of things that I didn’t mean.
Sally: If this is some insane attempt to protect me against victor and victoria, if you are distancing yourself from me so I can keep my job, I don’t want it. I don’t want it. Not like this. You mean more to me. So you can just drop this cruel and, frankly, pointless act and tell me that you are just doing all of this to protect me… and I will forgive you.
Ashley: I am the last person that would defend what phyllis did to you. And I’m sure it was very hurtful when you realized that she had cheapened the time that you had together. How’s that for dancing around the issue?
Jack: Oh, you’re a regular ginger rogers.
Ashley: Oh, good, because the point is, when you got back from L.A., I saw a light in your eye that I hadn’t seen for a long time.
Jack: Yes, I learned I had a brilliant and beautiful granddaughter.
Ashley: Big part of it, but there was something else. Are you gonna make me say it? Do I really have to say it?
Jack: What?
Ashley: [ Sighs ] I got the feeling that you were falling back in love with phyllis. And it made you happy, so it made me happy.
Jack: You’re not wrong. That’s what made her betrayal all the more painful.
Ashley: I get it. I get it. And under any other circumstances, I would agree with you 1,000%. I really would. But I think that she deserves a second chance this time.
Jack: Why are you cutting her so much slack?
Ashley: Because when it comes to fighting diane jenkins, all bets are off, and you used to know that. So my question for you is, if things were so great with you and phyllis, why did she feel that she had the need to let diane know where things stood with you?
Jack: I can’t begin to fathom what makes phyllis do what phyllis —
Ashley: That’s not true. You know how she works. Right? She acts out when she feels wronged. So what set her off?
Jack: Can we just drop this, please?
Ashley: No, we can’T. You are clearly forging a path of forgiveness for diane, for all the horrendous and horrible things that she’s done. And yet you won’t forgive phyllis for doing something out of love. I agree it was twisted, but she did it to protect her relationship with you. I think that you have a lot more complicated feelings for diane than you’re willing to admit.
Diane: [ Sighs ]
Phyllis: I just said hi to allie. Of course, you, of all people, would think I had ulterior motives.
Diane: If I had dug myself into a hole as deep as you had, I’d be doing anything I could to get out of it.
Phyllis: Ugh, diane, you’re not gonna provoke me. I’m not playing your game.
Diane: Oh, funny how you’re accusing me of playing games when you were the one who toyed with jack in order to make a point to me.
Phyllis: Those are fighting words.
Diane: Oh. Are you accusing me of breaking our peace treaty?
Phyllis: No, I’m not because you would never do that out in public, in front of everyone.
Diane: It’s not the case at all. I’m quite happy with our detente. I wouldn’t do anything to wreck it.
Phyllis: You know, it takes a really paranoid mind to believe that a simple conversation between two women has some nefarious plot connected to it.
Diane: Phyllis, you were trying to wheedle your way back into jack’s life and getting into his good graces by using his grandchild. I actually feel sorry for you.
Phyllis: Alright.
Diane: No, no, I’m serious. It is such a shame that you have managed to screw up a romance that is so important to you. Meanwhile, I am rebuilding my relationship with kyle and enjoying time with my grandson.
Phyllis: Oh, spare me.
Diane: You know, I accept that some people don’t believe I’ve changed.
Phyllis: Because you haven’T.
Diane: So I’m going to focus on those whose opinions matter to me. The people who are giving me a chance to prove myself, both professionally and personally. I am so looking forward to working with my son and your daughter and jack, of course, now that we’re all part of the big jabot family.
Phyllis: What’s your point?
Diane: I guess it’s that my life is in such a good place right now that the last thing I want is for things to be adversarial between the two of us.
Phyllis: Okay, you know what? I’m not buying this miraculous transformation that you’re peddling all over town.
Diane: Phyllis, you need to accept that I’m a permanent fixture here.
Phyllis: Do I?
Diane: Yeah.
Phyllis: Oh. Well, things don’t last forever, diane.
Diane: Is that a threat?
Phyllis: An observation.
Nikki: Did she say permanent fixture?
Phyllis: Yes, she did.
Nikki: Oh, god, she’s delusional.
Diane: I feel so special. Bringing together two women who despise each other.
Nikki: I’m glad that diane is becoming more confident.
Phyllis: Mm-hmm. She’ll let her guard down.
Nikki: Mm.
[Sfx: Stomach gurgling]
“The young and the restless”
will continue.
Adam: Forgiveness? Right, that would mean that there’s a future out there for us and I want to smooth things over so we can start again.
Sally: Why can’t we?
Adam: Because that’s not who I am, sally.
Sally: You said —
Adam: I said a lot of things, and now I’m telling you that I don’t want you in my life anymore. Okay? This is my priority. It’s reclaiming my place. Regaining my father’s respect. Hell, regaining respect for myself.
Sally: You’re not making any sense.
Adam: I hate what being with you has cost me, but even more, I hate what it’s turned me into. I’m somebody who’s griping that his daddy mistreats him, who isn’t appreciated enough or given enough. I mean, how did I expect someone, much less my father, to take me seriously? Okay, I need to get away from you, and I need to get back to regaining credibility in his eyes. And I need to get back to being the kind of man that takes what he wants, like I always have.
Sally: So suddenly, you care more about kissing up to victor than you do about me and about us?
Adam: Look, whatever momentary glee I got from rubbing you in everyone’s face, whatever pleasure that I derived from being with you, it wasn’t worth it. We’re done. Was that clear enough for you?
Sally: Everyone really was right about you… from the beginning. You are a self-serving bastard.
Adam: Well, at least you got a ceo job out of the deal. If you can hang on to it.
Sally: Go to hell.
Adam: [ Sighs ] Um, it’s done. Okay, I’m out of here. I’m out of sally’s life. I’m out of your life. But one more thing — don’t be fooled by her tough exterior. She’s having a pretty tough time accepting things are over between us. The worst mistake she could have made is getting involved with me, so I would hate to see her lose her job on top of everything. She’s a hard worker. She has a lot of fresh ideas. She’s loyal and dedicated. She deserves to be here. Give her a chance and you’ll see that.
Sally: [ Sighs ]
[ Knock on door ]
[ Exhales sharply ] Come in.
Nick: Hi, sally.
Sally: Hi.
Victoria: I hope you have a few minutes.
Sally: Yes, whatever you need. Make yourselves comfortable. Can I get you guys a drink?
Nick: Uh, no, we’re okay. Thank you.
Sally: Okay. Glad to hear it. Why waste time on niceties when I have to go wallow in the pity of my freshly broken heart?
[ Sighs ] Okay, look, I’ve done this so many times. I know it word for word. This is the part where you tell me it’s just not working, right? Because forget about what actually is working or what I can actually accomplish here, or what I am currently accomplishing. Because all you care about is playing the game, right?
Allie: So I thought of something that you are actually good at.
Noah: I’m dying to hear it.
Allie: You got me out of that conversation with phyllis. That is a very, very special skill.
Noah: Yeah. What was that all about?
Allie: She’s trying to use me, I think, as a way to get more information about the abbotts, about jack specifically. I don’t know. I think there’s some kind of drama going on between them.
Noah: With phyllis, it’s almost guaranteed.
Jack: Whatever is going on between phyllis and me has nothing to do with diane.
Ashley: You cannot possibly be that dumb. You don’t really believe that, do you? Because I don’t even spend that much time with you, and I can see that you’ve got complicated feelings for diane.
Jack: Ash —
Ashley: You do. Maybe compassion because of kyle and harrison.
Jack: I am just trying to be fair.
Ashley: But if I notice it, can you imagine how it must make phyllis feel to see you bending over backwards, being kind to somebody that she despises, that has done really horrible things to her?
Jack: I don’t know.
Ashley: It’s making her crazy because, frankly, it’s making me crazy. And I cannot imagine the impulses that phyllis is having to stifle every single day of her life.
Jack: Everything I am doing, I am doing for kyle. He is invested in trying to reestablish a relationship with his mother. And diane deserves to know her son, given how she has handled everything that’s been thrown at her since she came back to town.
Ashley: Diane is not your friend. Don’t buy her act, jack. Nothing good can come of it.
Jack: Diane is not the issue. My issue with phyllis is her penchant for self-sabotage, her inability to embrace what is good. I have given her many chances in the past. I cannot go through this again. We are better off as friends. Let’s drop this, please, now. Oh, you’ve got to have the last word. Go ahead.
Ashley: Things are never as simple as they seem with diane.
Jack: I’m going to go check on adam, see what’s going on there.
Ashley: Are you kidding me? Do you have to befriend every single pariah in town? You are way too forgiving. Except when it comes to phyllis.
Jack: Buy you a cup of coffee?
Adam: [ Sighs ] I’m not in the mood for company.
Jack: Which is exactly why I’m joining you. I know that look. I perfected that look, and I know what it means.
From prom dresses
Jack: I saw the press conference. Victoria reinstated as ceo.
Adam: Yeah. Whole family’s up there. Dad’s dream come true.
Jack: Your absence was conspicuous.
Adam: Well, hey, that’s my middle name, jack.
Jack: The press was told you were moving on to pursue other ventures. I hope that’s the case.
Adam: Let’s just say I — I get it now. I mean, all those years that you were at war with my father, I mean, he is relentless. You think he’s doing one thing, and in reality, he’s doing something completely different. And by the time you catch up, he’s just changed the rules.
Jack: Congratulations. You caught on.
Adam: Yeah. Well, you’d think he’d learn there’s only so much you can push a man past his limits before he pushes back.
Jack: Adam, this isn’t the first time your father has done something like this to you.
Adam: No. But this time is different. This time there is no going back.
Sally: You guys have been so busy swapping out nameplates in the executive suite that I’m sure you’re unaware of what I’ve actually accomplished here. But I believe that I’ve earned the right to be judged based on my own achievements, regardless of my personal relationship with adam.
Victoria: I see.
Sally: What you haven’t seen is that I have been working night and day studying, researching, and learning the history of this company and reimagining its future. I have established a clear mission statement and I am building connections that matter, and it is having an impact. Not that any of you newmans are paying attention. We are bringing in fresh, new perspectives. We are becoming more inclusive. Yes, sure, content is still king because we still have to feed the masses, but we are also prioritizing connectivity. The world is changing, and we need to be the ones that people turn to for services to help them engage and stay informed and connect with the world. Not that I have been able to apply that amount of energy to my personal life.
[ Sighs ] But I just want you guys to know that this has been one of the greatest opportunities of my life, and I’m really gonna miss the view from this office. Among other things. So honestly, if you could just get this over with, I will pack up my things and get out of your hair and we can all just go back to our day.
Nick: Can I talk to you outside for a minute?
[ Hits desk ]
Diane: Some women feel threatened when they hear people talking about them, but I kind of enjoy being the center of attention.
Nikki: Yes, we’re acutely aware of that.
Ashley: So is this a private party or can anybody join?
Diane: Hello, ashley.
Phyllis: We’re just talking about how diane is strolling around town without a care in the world.
Nikki: Savoring all those wonderful memories.
Phyllis: Gainfully employed, pretending to be a doting grandmother.
Diane: Dee dee. That’s harrison’s pet name for me.
Ashley: Until he grows up and finds out who you really are and then becomes the object of your machinations, just like kyle.
Nikki: Yes, then he’ll have all kinds of choice words for you.
Phyllis: It’s only a matter of time, diane.
Diane: Wow, you ladies are a hoot. What a fun way to pass the afternoon, but, oh, look at the time. I have a job to return to and a life. So I will give your love to summer and kyle and jack.
Nikki: Something has to be done about that woman.
Phyllis: I mean, at least the three of us can agree on that, right?
Ashley: Oh, yes, we can. Better skin from your body wash?
Noah: Best description of phyllis…
[ Sighs ] Hmm. Force of nature? Like an earthquake or forest fire. But she doesn’t understand boundaries, so if she crosses one, you got to say something.
Allie: Okay. Got it.
Noah: On the other hand, I think she has a good heart and she means well and she would move mountains for the ones she loves, like summer.
Allie: She seems so different from summer.
Noah: That’s ’cause summer takes after my dad. He is the steady presence in the middle of the hurricane. He balances everything out.
Allie: Then maybe it’s time for you to have that honest conversation with him. Hey, tell him how you feel about stepping away from new hope. Hey. It’s not gonna be easy. And I know you’re gonna feel like you’re letting him down. But remember, nick is a good dad and good dads want more than anything for their kids to be happy. Trust me, I know from experience.
Noah: Thank you, allie, for saying that, for a great day at the pool. For everything.
Phyllis: Will someone please explain to me why this woman gets a do-over? I don’t get it.
Ashley: I am not giving her a free pass.
Phyllis: But everybody in town seems to be doing that. I mean, not just kyle, but michael, too.
Ashley: And jack.
Nikki: Yeah, even jack.
Phyllis: Jack. Yes, he is. You know, jack just said that he would go along with whatever kyle decided.
Ashley: Diane is capitalizing on that. She’s playing it perfectly.
Phyllis: Yeah, and she’s using kyle again to get to jack, just like she did when he was little.
Nikki: Because this is what she does.
Ashley: She framed you for arson.
Phyllis: Well, she slept with your fiancé, right? And she blackmailed you.
Nikki: She left me to be blamed for her murder. I win. Now, something has to be done about her.
Ashley: You know what? It would be a public service.
Phyllis: Could we do something? I mean, the three of us?
Nikki: Why not?
Phyllis: Well, I mean, we can’t stand to be in the same room with each other.
Nikki: Ah, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Ashley: Right. I mean, at least temporarily.
Nikki: If we all pooled our talents…
Ashley: Maybe we can get diane out of our lives.
Phyllis: Yeah. Forever this time.
Nick: You got to admit, what sally said in there was extremely impressive.
Victoria: She was scrambling to keep her job.
Nick: When people’s backs are against the wall, you’ll find out what means most of them, what they’re made of, and how far they’re willing to go to keep what’s important. That job means everything to her.
Victoria: But does she have what it takes?
Nick: I think she does. She has a clear plan, one she’s ready to start implementing. No matter how you feel about her, she’s got good ideas, and her vision for newman media is exactly what we’re looking for. You do realize that, right?
Sally: [ Exhales sharply ]
[ Exhales sharply ]
Jack: This is what I’m worried about, adam. You’re hurt and you want to lash out. Do not give over to your worst impulses. That is exactly what victor is expecting of you.
Adam: Oh, I’m well aware of that. It would be pointless for me to go after my father. I am the last person that he needs to worry about.
