While Chanel and Johnny were in the town square, Felicity came up them and told them Cat was missing. Chanel told Johnny to be with his mother and took Felicity to the police station. At the Horton House, Julie and JJ didn’t know where Chad was. JJ went to the police station and wanted to put out a B.O.L.O. for Chad. Chanel and Felicity showed up to tell him that Cat was missing. JJ assumed Chad and Cat were together. Marlena and Sami reunited. Sami apologized for not making it home to say goodbye. Marlena was appreciative that she was there now. Sami was upset with herself for not visiting enough or thanking John enough. She was also sorry that she treated John the way she did. Sami said he treated her like a daughter. Marlena said he thought of Sami like a daughter. Sami was upset that it was too late to make it right. Marlena let Sami know that John knew how she felt. They talked about John and how he loved Sami and was proud of her. While they were talking, Sami said she would be there for her. Johnny showed up and reunited with his mother. Marlena left to give them space.

Johnny told Sami that he didn’t expect her to be at his trial since EJ was defending him. While they were talking, they talked about John. After they finished talking, Johnny told her he had to get ready for court. When Sami was alone, she talked to John’s picture. She thanked him for making her who she was. There was a flashback of John supporting Sami when she was marrying Lucas. Marlena and Julie ran into each other at the hospital. Julie told her what was going on with Chad. When she noticed the out of order sign on the elevator, she figured out what was going on. Cat woke up in the elevator after having a nightmare. She told him she was having recurring dreams about the car accident. Cat decided she wanted to get out of the elevator and decided to climb out. Her plan didn’t work. Julie knocked above the elevator and called out to them. Chad and Cat were able to hear her. Later on, Julie talked to Marlena about Cat. She told Marlena that Chad and Abby’s love was eternal like her love for Doug and Marlena’s love for John. Julie said Chad was Abby’s husband. Marlena told Julie that Chad should fall in love again. Julie wanted Chad to fall in love again with someone like Cat. Sami talked to John’s picture again. There was a flashback of John visiting Sami in prison. She promised John that everyone would take care of Marlena.

Tate sent Sophia messages asking if she heard from the adoptive parents or had any pictures of the baby. Sophia wanted Tate to let it go. Amy came into her room and asked why Sophia wasn’t over it since she wasn’t pregnant anymore. She told Sophia that she was upset that she went to Chicago to have the baby and that none of them got to hold the baby. Sophia snapped and said it was hard for her and reminded her that it was her life. Amy apologized for making it about her. She said her heart was aching that Sophia was hurting. Amy said the love Sophia had in her heart for her child would never go away. She said it was how she felt about Sophia. Sophia said having her child with people who cared was helping her. Amy said she was worried about her. When she touched her head, she realized that Sophia had a fever. Amy wanted to take Sophia to the hospital. Sophia didn’t want to go, but Amy said she was going. Johnny was upset with EJ for going after Roman the way he did in court. EJ said he had to do it to establish that other people had motives to shoot him. EJ told him to trust him. Johnny said he had to meet Chanel. Belle told EJ that he did a good job. EJ yelled at her for her opening statement attacking Johnny. She said she had a job to do just like him. EJ said Johnny was her flesh and blood and asked how she could do that to him. Belle said she tried to get out of the trial, but he interfered. She said this was what a fair trial looked like. EJ tried to apologize. He said he shouldn’t have questioned her loyalty to her family after losing her father. When he tried to comfort her, she told him they couldn’t do anything until the trial was over.

Chanel and Paulina met at the town square. They wanted to trial to be over but they didn’t want EJ to pin the crime on Chanel. Chanel said she was okay with it if it could help Belle’s case. While they were talking, Johnny showed up. He told Chanel what happened in court. Johnny and Chanel wanted to go to the pub for lunch. Paulina left so they could spend time together. She said she would pray for them. Holly met with Tate at the pub. Tate said he heard that Doug left town. He said he was glad she was okay. Holly said she hoped he got his money back from the police soon. Tate said he didn’t care because finding her was more important. Holly said she didn’t deserve his kindness since it was her fault he missed his baby being born. Tate said he was where he needed to be and he didn’t have any regrets. He said he was sorry that he wasn’t going to see his baby grow up in Salem. Tate blamed Johnny for backing out of the adoption. While he was talking, Johnny and Chanel showed up. Johnny told them about what happened in court. They talked about the baby being with her parents. Johnny and Chanel went to another table. They talked about what Tate has been going through. Chanel said she wouldn’t rest until Johnny was free. Tate talked to Holly about being disappointed that he wasn’t involved with the baby’s adoption. Holly said she understood his position as well as Sophia’s. She advised him to give Sophia some space. He said she was being so sweet and brought up how she was leaving for France. Holly said she wasn’t going and decided to go to Salem U. Tate was happy that she was staying. At the DiMera mansion, Susan told EJ she had a bone to pick with him. She said he was supposed to be a better man but that didn’t last long. EJ said he was doing what he had to do for Johnny. Susan said Johnny and Chanel were innocent. She said he knew Chanel was innocent and the truth about what he did to make Johnny look innocent would come out. Belle went to Paulina to tell her that she was resigning as DA. Paulina said she wouldn’t let her quit because it would look like she was trying to affect the trial. She told Belle that she wished she could get her off the case but it was too late. Paulina said she would be happy if the case ruined Belle’s relationship with EJ. Belle agreed to stay on the case for Johnny’s sake. Sarah checked Sophia and said there was no sign of infection. She said Sophia’s uterus was contracted more than expected for someone who just gave birth. Sophia asked if that was a good thing. When Sarah asked about the sex of the baby, Sophia froze. Sophia told Sarah that she couldn’t say anything about what she thought she knew. She ended up confessing to Sarah about what happened. Sarah asked if the baby was okay. Sophia said the baby was safe and that was all she needed to know. Sarah said she needed to know more or she would have to report it.

Gabi went to the DiMera mansion to meet with Tony. He wanted to know if she had a plan to get the company back. Gabi said she didn’t have one. Tony said he had a plan. He said to cause fighting within the Kiriakis family. Gabi said she noticed that there was tension between Xander and Philip, but she didn’t know why they were fighting. Tony said someone might know why. She said she liked the plan. He said he was glad she was willing to go along with the plan since she didn’t want to turn on Xander at first. Gabi said business was business and walked out. Kayla went to see Steve at Black Patch. She said she was distracted thinking about John. He said he knew what she meant. Steve told her that Julie got her necklace back. He told her how Julie got the necklace back. Kayla said she didn’t like the idea of Doug stealing, but he did the right thing. While they were talking, Kayla told Steve about Marlena fainting in court. After Kayla left, Gabi showed up to hire Steve to investigate Xander and Philip. Steve refused to take the case. He believed they were shady, but he stayed away from personal cases. Gabi didn’t believe him. Steve said his brother-in-law and nephews were Kiriakises and Stephanie was dating Alex and had a past with Philip. He asked what was in it for Gabi. She said Xander and Philip wouldn’t let her take Gabi Chic so she had to play hardball. After some convincing, Steve changed his mind and said he would take the case.

Marlena went to work. Kayla was surprised to see her. Marlena said she didn’t have any symptoms and was there to consult with Dr. Fuller on a patient. Kayla asked her to wait a few days, but Marlena said she was that patient. Marlena said what was wrong with her wasn’t physical. She thought it had to do with her soul. Kayla asked if she was possessed again. Marlena said she wasn’t. She said there was a time when Stefano used to invade her dreams and would refer to her as his Queen of the Night. Marlena said that left her vulnerable for possession. Kayla said that was a long time ago. Marlena said she hadn’t forgotten how that felt and let her know she had a dream about being the Queen of the Night. She said Susan’s premonition had her worried too. Kayla said Stefano was dead. Marlena knew he was gone. She told her what happened when she read Rachel a story from Arabian Nights and the dream was similar. Kayla said that the story and stress was why she had the dream. Marlena said it could explain the dream. She left for her appointment and would let Kayla know what happened. While Gwen was moving her things, Julie showed up to show off the necklace. Gwen accused her of stealing the necklace. Julie said she couldn’t steal something that was hers. She told Gwen to call the police and file a report. Gwen told her to enjoy the necklace for now. Julie told her that she better not be threatening her. She warned Gwen that she would get what was coming to her if she ever showed up at the house. While they were arguing a man showed up and yelled at Gwen. When Gwen left, Julie thanked Foster. He said he missed her and she said the same thing. They talked about the necklace and his bookstore. Foster told her he was selling the bookstore to be with his family in California. He said he would miss the store, but he missed his family more. Marlena told Kayla about the appointment. She said she had more questions than answers. Marlena said she couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling. She said she didn’t know if she wanted the answers.

Xander was playing with Victoria. Sarah showed up to see Victoria. Xander let her see Victoria. When they put Victoria down, they talked about what they were going to do about her. Xander said he didn’t want to hurt Victoria and suggested they deal with it head on. Sarah said she was willing to figure things out, but they needed to talk about his anger. She said she knew he wouldn’t hurt Victoria, but leaving her with a man who could snap so easily scared her. Sarah said that was what was holding her back. Xander said he wouldn’t hurt Philip. Sarah told him that he hurt other people. Xander said if she didn’t trust him, they were stuck. Sarah said that wasn’t true. She advised him to take anger management counseling. He asked if she would agree to joint custody if he did. She said she would. Xander agreed to get counseling. He said he wanted a formal agreement and the only way to do that was to get separated. Holly went to the pub. Doug was happy to see her. She said it was his fault for not saying that the thugs were after him again. Holly was upset that he kept her and Arianna from each other. Doug said he was only after Arianna because he couldn’t have her. Holly said she thought something would happen between them but that was over. Doug apologized to her, but she told him to apologize to Arianna. He said he would do it before he left. She asked if he was leaving town. He said he didn’t want anyone else to be in danger and didn’t think the loan sharks would come after anyone else when he’s gone. Holly asked if he was going to talk to Julie to which he said he wasn’t. She told him he could give Julie closure. While they were talking, Arianna showed up and slapped Doug. Doug said he deserved that. Holly left the pub. Arianna said she cared about him and he almost got her killed. She said she wanted to forget about him and left the pub.

Tate asked Sophia where the baby was. Sophia said she was gone. She told Tate and Brady that the adoptive parents took the baby. Tate asked if she gave his baby away without asking him. He was furious and started yelling until Brady told him to calm down. Sophia said she and the parents being together when she went into labor was a sign that it was meant to be. She gave Tate the paperwork to sign, but Tate refused to sign them. Sophia said he had to sign them, but Brady said Tate had concerns about what happened. He said he did too. Tate yelled at Sophia for doing this without asking him. Sophia said he was at the lake. She said she tried calling him, but he didn’t answer. Tate said he was saving Holly’s life. He told her what happened. Sophia said giving birth in a strange place was scary for her. Tate apologized to her. He asked for the adoptive parents’ address so he could meet his daughter and would sign the papers. Sophia said he couldn’t do that. She said she promised the parents that they would have time to bond with the baby. Sophia said it was an open adoption, but they could back out. She took out her phone and showed him pictures of a couple holding a baby. Sophia said they struggled with the adoption and asked if he wanted to ruin it. Brady wanted to know something about the parents. Sophia lied about the parents. She said they could move on with their lives once he signed the papers. Tate agreed to go along with it. Gabi met with Tony at the DiMera mansion. She said she was intrigued by his business proposition. He said he wanted his company back and needed information. Tony said she could get information on Xander and Philip. Gabi refused to do it. Tony said he would give her the rights to Gabi Chic. Gabi said he would only do that if she did what he wanted. She said she would have done it before, but Xander has been nice to her and she didn’t want to betray him. Tony said she was never loyal to anyone and he admired that about her. When Gabi was about to leave, Tony offered to let her run all of DiMera Enterprises. Gabi wondered why he would do that for her. She thought he would want a DiMera to do it. Tony said she was a DiMera. He said he wanted input and would work behind the scenes. Gabi agreed to do it.

Leo and Gwen ran into each other at the town square. Gwen asked him about the paper. Leo said it was going well. He said she was being vindictive and petty about the necklace. Gwen said she had other reasons for being back in Salem, but she wasn’t telling her plans to a backstabber like him. Leo was okay with her not telling him. He said if she was doing something illegal, he would expose her. Gwen found his threat laughable. Leo said he could uncover scoops like her going in the Salem Inn with Xander. She didn’t care if he exposed it since Xander and Sarah were having problems. Leo said Xander and Sarah always found their way back to each other. He said she shouldn’t go after Xander again. Leo said he didn’t want to see her get hurt even though she hated him. Gwen said she hit rock bottom with Xander, but Leo was the one who broke her heart. Leo understood that he hurt her and said he was trying to apologize to her. He said he would do anything to get her to forgive him if it would help. Gwen said it wouldn’t. Leo said it was okay and that Dimitri screwed them both. Gwen got money and Leo moved on. She said Leo and Javi were lucky to have each other. Leo ended up leaving. At Titan, Gabi told Xander that she didn’t want to go home yet. She said she was happy that Arianna wanted to come home but now she wished she didn’t since Salem has been horrible for her. Gabi blamed herself for what happened to Arianna and called herself a terrible mother. Xander let her know that she was a good mother. He said he was able to see how much she loved Arianna. Xander said he and Sarah went through the same thing when Victoria was kidnapped.

Johnny told Philip that his trial started tomorrow and he might have to miss work. He told Philip that he would understand if he wanted to fire him for the company. Philip said he knew Johnny was innocent and would be back at work. Johnny thanked him and got recording equipment for Philip and Xander’s statement. Gabi left the office and told Philip that she had to leave. He went to Xander’s office and wondered what he did to Gabi. Xander was upset that Philip accused him of being the reason why Gabi was upset. Johnny came in the office. Xander said hiring Johnny was poor timing. He said Johnny was hired to undermine his father, but thanks to Philip, Johnny and EJ were closer than ever. Johnny said he was loyal to the company. Philip wanted to be alone with Xander. He told Xander that he couldn’t fire Johnny because he made up with his father. Philip said they needed to unite for the good of the company. Xander and Philip recorded the statement and continued fighting. Holly tried to pick the lock with a bobby pin but it didn’t work. Arianna noticed an air duct and was able to see daylight. The girls opened the air duct and Arianna crawled through. Arianna ended up getting stuck. Tate was at the alley where Holly and Arianna were taken. Rafe showed up and wondered why Tate was there. Tate showed him Holly’s class ring and suggested they split up and look through the warehouses. Rafe said it was too dangerous. He wanted Tate to wait for the police while he searched the warehouses. When Rafe left, Tate went to one of the warehouses and called out Holly’s name. Tate got to the door and heard Holly. He kicked the door open. Rafe showed up and sent Tate and Holly out so they could tell everyone where they were. Rafe called out to Arianna and heard her screaming. When Rafe called out to Arianna, she didn’t hear him because she passed out. He ended up rescuing Arianna.

Kayla went to Stephanie’s apartment to see her. Stephanie let her know that was trying to work for the hospital. She thought EJ wouldn’t want to talk to her if he wasn’t ready to make her an offer. Stephanie asked if Kayla thought she should take it. Kayla said the hospital would be lucky to have her, but she should run the other way. She told Stephanie that the hospital was EJ’s and that he was making big changes. She thought being EJ’s PR would be tricky. Stephanie said she wanted to help the hospital. At Titan, Xander had trouble calming Victoria down. When Gabi came to his office, she offered to help him. Gabi was able to get Victoria to calm down. Xander was afraid that Victoria forgot about him. Gabi said they needed to be reacquainted. She said she had to do that with her daughter. After they talked, they started working. Xander was frustrated with Johnny not showing up when he should. Gabi thought he should give Johnny a break since he knew what it was like to be charged with attempted murder. Xander reminded her that the charges were dropped. She told him everything would be okay.

Cat went to Rafe’s office. She took out the flash drive with EJ’s finances and gave it to Rafe. They talked about how the ISA and FBI were working together to take down the DiMeras. It was the best time to strike. Rafe said he knew EJ didn’t buy the hospital out of the goodness in his heart. He wondered where EJ got the money. Since Versavix wasn’t going to make money for a while, Rafe wondered what EJ’s plan was. Cat wanted to know why it was so personal for Rafe and wondered about their history. Rafe told her what happened between him and EJ. He said EJ was a sociopath and needed to be stopped. Cat didn’t want to do this since the hospital saved her sister’s life. She said she didn’t know that EJ was a bad guy since he was Chad’s brother. Rafe let her know that Chad knows his family’s history. He said Chad was a good DiMera. Rafe said Chad wouldn’t stand in their way. Cat said she wasn’t worried about Chad. She was worried about her siblings getting hurt because of the investigation. Rafe understood how she felt. He said the career was a calling for him. Cat said the hospital was why she wanted to help, but she wasn’t ready for field work. Gwen went to the DiMera mansion and told EJ that she couldn’t pick a room. EJ let her know she wasn’t moving in. He said she had to wait. While they were talking, he noticed that she was wearing Julie’s necklace. He thought she was going to return the necklace, but she said she wasn’t. Gwen said she hated most of the Hortons ever since Laura sent her away. EJ said there were two sides to every story. When Chad and Thomas came in, Thomas asked her why she had Julie’s necklace and why she hasn’t given it back. Gwen said there was a disagreement about the necklace’s owner. When Thomas left, Chad told her he was only nice to her for Thomas’ sake. He said he wanted her to give Julie back the necklace and then leave Salem. Gwen told him that wasn’t happening. She said she was moving into the mansion. Rafe and Cat looked through EJ’s finances and noticed red flags. They realized the only way he could have bought the hospital was with a silent partner.

Sophia read the note she wrote for the baby. While she was reading the note, Tate showed up. Tate noticed that something was off with Sophia. He let her know that he was going to the lake for a day. She asked if he was going to be with Holly. Tate said he was going to be with Holly as well as others. Sophia said it sucked to miss her senior year, but she didn’t want to waddle around on the beach. She told him to leave. When Tate left, Sophia called Melinda and told her the timing couldn’t be more right for them. At the pub, Leo told Doug that Julie never got her necklace back. Doug was upset that Gwen didn’t give back the necklace. Leo told him about his falling out with Gwen and her vendetta against the Hortons. While they were talking, Leo asked Doug about his problems with the loan shark. He told Doug he would help if he could. Doug said he had an idea.

Sarah was upset about Xander taking Victoria. Maggie said it wasn’t her fault. Sarah wanted Maggie to stay and get ready for the trip. Maggie advised her to be careful. At Titan, Xander talked to Melinda about making sure he’s never apart from Victoria. While he was on the phone, Sarah came in his office and told him to give her back her daughter. She yelled at him about keeping Victoria in an office. Xander said she was going to run away with Victoria. Sarah said he was paranoid and crazy. Xander accused her of trying to entrap him. Sarah said no one believed that he didn’t attack Philip. Xander said he didn’t believe that she wasn’t trying to run off with Victoria. He said her days of controlling him were over and let her know that he was in charge. Sarah said she ran off with Rachel and if she did the same with Victoria she would lose her. She asked why she would take the risk of losing Victoria. Xander said Maggie had the resources to make her disappear. Sarah said she wanted Xander in Victoria’s life. Xander thought she was trying to butter him up. He refused to let Sarah take Victoria. Xander called her mentally unstable and reminded her that she thought Rachel was her daughter and how she thought she was an heiress and a little girl. Sarah thought he was low when he said that. Xander said she could do whatever she wanted, but Victoria was staying with him. Sarah said she was tired of arguing with him. She said she was heartbroken for Victoria. Xander said he didn’t like this, but they would work it out later. Gabi showed up and apologized for interrupting. Sarah kissed Victoria before she left. Gabi and Xander talked about business. The loan shark called Doug. He told the loan shark that he didn’t have the money but he had jewelry that was worth more than money. The loan shark said he was interested but warned him to hurry because he didn’t have time. Holly and Arianna left for the trip. The loan shark followed them. When they got to the park, a guy wearing a ski mask was there with a gun. He took their phones and told them to move. Sarah went home and told Maggie that she couldn’t go to Bermuda without Victoria. She told Maggie to go on the trip. Maggie said she wasn’t going. The loan shark took Holly and Arianna to an alley. Holly took off one of her rings and put it behind her back. Arianna said her uncle was in law enforcement. Tate showed up to the park and wondered where Holly and Arianna were. The loan shark took off the mask and called Doug. He let Doug know that he took out an insurance policy. He sent Doug a picture of Holly and Arianna and told him not to go to the police. The loan shark said he wanted the money, necklace, or both if he wanted to see them again.

Belle talked to Marlena about Johnny’s case. She told her important evidence came up. Belle said if Johnny was innocent it might lead to the real shooter. She said the last thing she wanted to do was prosecute Johnny. Marlena wondered how it would go. Belle said she and EJ wanted Johnny to be found not guilty. She hoped the case didn’t go to trial. Marlena admitted to Belle that she hadn’t been sleeping because her grief hasn’t stopped even though everyone has moved on. Belle said she wasn’t alone because she was there. When Marlena tried standing up and was unsteady, Belle asked if there was something going on that she wasn’t telling her. Gwen ripped into Leo for what he did to her. While she was talking, Leo noticed the necklace she was wearing. He tried to talk her into giving Julie back the necklace, but she didn’t want to listen to him after what he did to her. Gwen said she hated him and threatened to make him pay for betraying her. Leo apologized to her and said he paid for what he did. Gwen enjoyed the idea of Dimitri breaking up with him. She said Dimitri refused to divorce her which was okay with her because she got his money. Leo said he didn’t need money because he had love in his life. Javi didn’t understand what was going on. Gwen told Javi that he didn’t know what he got himself into. When Gwen left, Javi asked Leo what she was talking about. Leo told him what happened. Javi tried to process what Leo did. Leo said he wouldn’t forgive himself for what he did to Gwen. He thought Gwen was right about him needing to pay for what he did, even if he lost Javi. Javi told him that people did things they regretted. While they were talking, Javi said he could see them as a family, but Leo didn’t think he would make a good father after having horrible parents.

At the Bistro, Xander was drinking and thinking about spending time with Sarah and Victoria. Gwen showed up. She offered Xander her condolences over what happened with Sarah. Xander was shocked that she did that. Gwen said she wasn’t their biggest supporter, but they were married with a child. She said their love drove her crazy when they were together. Gwen thought her insecurity drove him away and pushed her to work with Kristen to kidnap Sarah. She said she didn’t think she could stand up against his love for Sarah. Gwen asked what would have happened if she told him the truth. She asked if he ever wondered about that to which he said he didn’t. Gwen said she thought about it all the time. Xander noticed the necklace around her neck. He thought she should have it since she was rich. They made a toast to her getting over on Dimitri and to the fact that they both had money. After they finished drinking, they went to the town square. Gwen told him he was the one who got away. Xander asked if there was another chance for them. Gwen kissed him. Sarah looked at pictures of her and Xander. Bonnie walked in and told her that looking at pictures wouldn’t help. She asked Sarah if she wanted to talk. Sarah told her what happened with Xander. Bonnie thought she should celebrate Xander being out of her life. Sarah was surprised by her reaction. Bonnie said she started to like Xander but that changed after what he did to Philip. Sarah said she still loved Xander even though she wished she didn’t. Bonnie talked about her first husband even though he beat her and was a drunk. She said he apologized for his actions but did them again until Mimi killed him. Sarah said she didn’t want to raise her daughter around violence. She told Bonnie that she didn’t think Xander would hurt Victoria. Bonnie said he only hurt other people. Sarah said she and Xander had to work together to raise Victoria, but she didn’t think that would work after what happened. Bonnie advised her to fight fire with fire. She told Sarah that Xander was going to fight dirty. Sarah asked how she could fight dirty. Bonnie gave her suggestions to try.

Sophia put her pregnancy pad on when Tate knocked on her door. She wondered why he was there. He said he was there to get her in the spirit of the 4th and wanted to check on her. When he tried to touch her stomach, she flinched. Tate apologized to her. Sophia said she was sick of people touching her stomach. When Sophia said she was okay, Tate left to see the fireworks. Sophia called Melinda to tell her that her temporary solution was working. Melinda said that after the weekend, they should be good to go. Sophia was relieved. Melinda told her she made the right decision. She told Sophia about the adoption plan. Sophia wondered if she had time to write a letter. Melinda said she should send it to the firehouse. She said they would go to Chicago after the weekend and everything would be fine. Xander and Sarah ran into each other in the town square. They talked about Victoria and how she has been behaving lately. Sarah thought it might have been because he hasn’t been around much. They agreed to talk over dinner.

Xander and Sarah went to the Bistro to talk. Sarah showed Xander pictures of Victoria. They agreed they couldn’t go on like this. Xander suggested they do a 50/50 arrangement, but Sarah didn’t know if she wanted to leave Victoria alone with him. Sarah said she knew he wouldn’t hurt Victoria, but she was worried about Victoria learning the wrong things about dealing with anger. She wanted him to apologize for what he did to Philip and promise he would never do it again. Xander refused to apologize and accused her of setting him up to get in trouble. Sarah said she wouldn’t tell anyone, but Xander didn’t believe her. He warned her that they would have to do this the hard way. They ended up arguing over who was looking out for Victor’s best interest. Sarah walked out on him. Melinda showed up. Xander told her it was time to resort to the measures they talked about. Julie talked to Hope about the necklace. She told Hope that she was happy that she would have the necklace back. Hope didn’t tell Julie who had the necklace. Someone showed up at the Horton House. It turned out to be Gwen holding the necklace.

Kate told Roman that Philip was discharged from the hospital, but she was concerned about how he was doing. She thought Philip blamed himself for what happened to Johnny. Roman said he was why Johnny knew what EJ did to Sami which gave him a motive to shoot EJ. Kate said Johnny was innocent. Roman said he didn’t do Johnny any favors by covering for him. They talked about what happened the night EJ was shot and how a lot of people wanted EJ dead. Roman thought EJ would fight for Johnny. He told Kate that he wished Rachel didn’t have to be involved. Kate said a lot of people knew the truth about her too. Roman thanked her for her support and asked if she could watch the pub since he had to go to court. Kate said she would do it. Marlena walked in on Brady and Kristen talking about Rachel testifying in court. Brady asked Marlena how to get Rachel ready to testify. Marlena told him that Rachel needed to tell the truth. Kristen said they all knew that Johnny shot EJ. Marlena said that Johnny was innocent. Kristen pointed out the things that made Johnny guilty. Marlena wanted her to stop pointing out how Johnny shot EJ. Kristen apologized for her behavior. Marlena wanted to get air and told Brady to text her when Kristen was gone. When Marlena left, Brady and Kristen argued over Johnny being innocent or guilty. Brady said Rachel needed to know that they were both there for her. He said he wanted Rachel to stay with him until the trial was over to keep her from EJ. Kristen agreed to it, but she wanted visitation. Brady wanted her to stay away from Marlena. At the police station, Paulina told that she got news from the judge that she was put back on Johnny’s case because of EJ. Belle was shocked that the judge didn’t care that she was Johnny’s aunt. Paulina said the judge was letting EJ defend Johnny. She told Belle that EJ had the case bumped up over other cases. Belle said she would handle the case with integrity. Paulina said she wasn’t concerned about Belle’s relationship with Johnny. She was worried about Belle being corrupted by EJ. Later on, Marlena ran into Belle. Marlena told Belle about Kristen and how she accused Johnny of shooting EJ. Belle said she couldn’t talk about it because she was on Johnny’s case. She said she had to prosecute her nephew and go against her boyfriend. Marlena wondered when Belle considered EJ her boyfriend. Belle said she knew she didn’t like it, but she took her advice and decided to be with EJ. Marlena said the case was going to be complicated and wondered how she would handle it. Belle said she would do her job. Marlena asked what would happen if Johnny got convicted. Belle said EJ wouldn’t be her boyfriend anymore.

Abe went to see Chanel. She told Abe that she wasn’t ready to forgive her mother. Abe said Paulina was in an impossible situation. Chanel didn’t care since her mother sent an innocent man to jail and he could possibly go to prison. Abe said she should have faith in the jury to do the right thing. Chanel said he didn’t think that would happen. She said she was afraid EJ was going to use this situation to get back in Johnny’s life. Paulina showed up to see Chanel, but she didn’t want to see her. Paulina said she had something to tell her. Chanel yelled at Paulina for what she did to Johnny and asked if she thought he was guilty. Paulina said she didn’t know what to believe. A furious Chanel wanted Paulina to leave, but she reminded Chanel that she paid for the place. Abe suggested that they leave Chanel alone. Johnny went to the DiMera mansion to talk about the case. EJ said he didn’t have good news. He told Johnny that Rachel saw him pointing a gun at him. Johnny said he felt terrible for Rachel. EJ said the police hadn’t questioned Rachel yet, but her testimony was important. He said he didn’t remember what happened. They talked about everyone who was at the mansion the night EJ was shot. EJ said Kristen’s excuse of being the shower was lame and that she could have taken Roman’s gun and shot him. He said new information could come out that could help. Johnny said he hoped he wasn’t doing something crazy like remembering Kristen shooting him. EJ said his memory was coming back in pieces so he didn’t know what he would remember. Johnny said if EJ lied about what happened it could backfire. EJ said he gave a lot of people reasons to shoot him. Johnny couldn’t believe EJ wanted to protect him when he thought he shot him. EJ said he wished Chanel understood that he wanted what was best for him. Johnny suggested him give Chanel time to come around. While they were talking, EJ said the case was stacked against him so he had to find a way to change it. Johnny didn’t want him to do anything crazy and thanked him for his help. After Johnny left, Kristen showed up and apologized for Rachel talking. She said Rachel had a nightmare while she was staying with Marlena. EJ said he didn’t care how it came out. He said he held up his end of the bargain about her mother and wondered if she was going to do the same. When Johnny went home, Chanel told him that she got into a fight with her mother. Johnny said he didn’t want to come between them. Chanel said it was her mother’s fault. She asked how things went with EJ. Johnny said EJ had a handle on the case. Chanel asked how things were personally. Johnny said they were repairing their relationship, but Chanel was upset about it. Chanel said she was concerned that he would forget about what EJ has done. Johnny said he wouldn’t forget, but his father was fighting for his life. He said he needed his father’s help. Kristen told EJ that she didn’t want Rachel to testify. EJ told her to coach Rachel to adjust the facts of the story and put her imagination to good use. Kristen warned him that he would regret it if he hurt Rachel or her mother. EJ reminded her that she threatened him. He said if Johnny goes to prison there would be consequences for her and the people she loves. At the police station, Belle was shocked to find an envelope on her desk. When she opened it, it was a SD card. She flashed back to EJ telling her that he remembered someone planting a video in the room on the night he was shot.

While Sarah was at work, Xander called to see if he could see Victoria. Sarah hung up on him. Maggie talked to Holly about her graduation. While they were talking, Holly told her she got into a university in Paris. Maggie was happy for her but wondered why she wasn’t going to Salem U. Holly said her mother and Eric were having problems. Maggie told her the only people who could fix what was going on between Eric and Nicole were the two of them. Sarah showed up while Holly and Maggie were talking. Holly told them that she was volunteering at the Salem Women Shelter and going on a trip with Arianna. Holly texted Doug to see if he was up for tutoring. Sarah told Maggie that she wasn’t sure if she and Xander could tolerate sharing custody of Victoria. She told Maggie that hearing Xander’s voice upset her. Maggie said they still loved each other. Sarah said they have never been further apart. Maggie said her love changed Xander but not enough. Sarah said he had so much anger and judgment inside of him and she couldn’t live with someone like that. Maggie said she understood and felt the same way about Victor, but she couldn’t live without him. She talked to Sarah about her relationship with Victor. Sarah admired their story, but she didn’t think she could have that kind of relationship with Xander.

Doug met with the guy he owed money to. He told the guy that he didn’t have any money. When Doug was about to come up with a solution, the guy told him he was out of time. He told Doug he had to pay the money in full. Doug asked what would happen if he didn’t pay the money. The guy said he would hurt Holly as well as his friends. Doug texted Holly and told her he wasn’t getting his GED. Tate left Sophia a message about the adoption appointment they had coming up. Sophia packed her clothes while the baby was crying in the bed. She picked up the baby and told him everything would be okay. Sophia told the baby that people would want her to keep him if they saw him. She said she would never get her life back. Sophia picked up the baby and apologized for doing what she had to do. Holly texted Tate and asked if she could come over. Tate agreed to let her come over. Holly went to see Tate. He thought it was great to see him. She told him about getting into the school she wanted to go to. Tate asked if she was leaving. Holly said she wasn’t sure since she was enrolled at Salem U. Changing the subject, Holly told Tate that she was struggling to get over him. She said she and Doug weren’t together even though she thought they might get together. Holly said the only guy she thought about was Tate. Tate told her he thought about her. When they kissed each other, Holly pulled away. She said she was worried about Sophia. Tate said she didn’t have to worry about Sophia. Sophia went back to her room without the baby. She apologized for what she did with the baby. When she listened to Tate’s message, she said the baby was gone.

Jada arrested Johnny in the town square. EJ yelled at Jada for arresting Johnny. Chanel came out of the bakery and wanted to know what was going on. When Johnny tried to answer, EJ told him not to say anything. EJ threatened Jada if she arrested Johnny. He said Johnny was innocent and she was going to treat him accordingly. EJ lied to Jada and said Johnny gave him the gun, but Jada didn’t believe him. She suggested that he get a lawyer. Jada took Johnny away. Chanel wanted EJ to tell her what was going on. EJ told her about their talk and what he remembered about that night. He blamed Rafe for what happened to Johnny. When Rafe went home, Gabi grilled him about Johnny. Rafe told her what Johnny told him, but he believed Johnny was innocent. Gabi didn’t believe it. Rafe said he told Jada. She said she hoped he was right about Johnny being innocent or she would feel EJ’s wrath for testifying against Johnny. Jada called Rafe to tell him what happened. Rafe rushed out.

Belle ripped into Paulina for having Johnny arrested right away instead of having him brought in for questioning. Paulina said they couldn’t dance around the situation or it would look like they were giving him special treatment from his family. Belle realized Paulina’s was right but wished they could have let everyone know what was going on first. Paulina said she wasn’t sure Johnny was innocent because she remembered Johnny’s reaction to EJ being shot. Belle said she believed him. She got a text saying it was done and that Jada was bringing Johnny in. Paulina told Belle that she had to let justice take its course without interference. She took Belle off the case. Belle said she understood. Paulina didn’t want Belle to interfere in the case. Jada and the police brought Johnny into the police station. Belle apologized for what happened. Rafe showed up and said he was upset with Jada. She told Rafe to stay out of it and let Johnny know that he could call his lawyer after he was booked. EJ came in and said he was Johnny’s lawyer. Chanel showed up and said she loved Johnny. Johnny was taken to booking. A frustrated EJ was upset with Belle for letting this happen. Chanel asked Paulina to do something but was furious when Paulina said she gave the order to have Johnny arrested. Chanel left the police station. Rafe and Jada argued over Johnny’s arrest. When Rafe left, Paulina showed up. She asked Jada if she thought Johnny was innocent. Jada said he had the means, motive, and opportunity. At the town square, EJ asked Belle about betraying him. Belle said she didn’t know Paulina was going to have Johnny arrested. EJ said she was going to get back on the case and have the charges dropped. He said he would make it happen. EJ said he thought Johnny shot him, but he didn’t think it anymore. Belle said she didn’t know how they were going to prove Johnny’s innocence. EJ apologized to Belle for getting upset. When Belle left, EJ got on the phone and called to speak to the judge. Marlena went to the pub. Roman knew she was worried about Johnny. He said Carrie told him Johnny’s best bet was to turn himself in. Marlena hesitated about Johnny turning himself in, but Roman said it would be better than having the police find out. While they were talking, Belle sent Marlena a text telling her that Johnny was arrested. Marlena wanted to go to Johnny, but Roman said he was still being processed. He said they could go after Johnny was processed. Roman said he was worried that the police had evidence against Johnny. Marlena reminded him that he had the gun that may have been used to shoot EJ. Roman didn’t care. He thought it was time to tell the police what he knew. Paulina made arrangements so Chanel could see Johnny. When Chanel was able to see Johnny, he told her he didn’t shoot EJ. Chanel said she believed him but wondered why he lied about everything. Johnny said he was in a horrible place and was worried that things were out of control and he could go down for something he didn’t do. Roman showed up at the police station and gave his gun to Jada and Paulina. He said he believed it was used to shoot EJ. Johnny was in his cell and thought about the things he said to his father.
