Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph
Cat goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells EJ that she just needed him to sign some documents, noting that she had to track him down because he never came to the office. Cat notices EJ being distracted and asks if everything is okay. EJ responds that it’s not.
Chad sits in the town square with Thomas and Charlotte as they prepare to attend a Cubs game. Thomas asks when Belle is coming so they can leave before they are late. Chad assures that she’ll be there soon and is just finishing up some work.
At the police station, Belle goes over Stephanie and Joy’s statements and tells Jada that her takeaway is that they are both really lucky as Joy could’ve been badly hurt or worse. They are thankful she didn’t have Kelsey with her. Jada asks Belle how her office wants to proceed.
Steve and Kayla go to Alex and Stephanie’s apartment. Kayla hugs Alex and says thank God everyone’s alright and asks where Stephanie is. Alex says she’s finally sleeping but still shaken up. Alex didn’t think they’d get there so fast when their plane just landed. Kayla says they just dropped off their bags and came straight over. Steve asks if the district attorney’s office has decided to press charges. Alex says they haven’t heard yet but he has Justin on standby. Kayla says they know Alex has to get going. Alex worries about if Stephanie wakes up. Steve says that’s why they are there. Alex thanks them and says he’ll be back soon as he exits.
Stephanie has a nightmare about shooting Joy and wakes up screaming in terror.
Cat asks if EJ wants to talk about what’s upsetting him. EJ informs her that his daughter in law Chanel has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Cat says she’s so sorry. EJ calls it a heavy blow and wishes there was something he could do. Cat asks if the miracle drug could possibly help Chanel but EJ says absolutely not.
Thomas asks Chad if Belle is coming to the Cubs game as a friend or as a date. Chad says it’s both which Thomas says is cool because he really likes Belle. Chad says he does too.
Steve and Kayla rush to Stephanie’s bedside and try to comfort her from her nightmare, reassuring her that she didn’t hurt Joy. Stephanie cries that it felt so real. Steve asks if it would help to talk about it. Stephanie responds that she feels so ashamed as she promised Steve that she would be safe and lock the gun up but she was so afraid that Owen would come back that she broke their promise. Stephanie cries that she let him down but Steve insists that she didn’t.
Belle and Jada talk about knowing what happened was accidental so Belle thinks it would be a waste of resources to pursue charges unless Joy files a complaint, then they would have no choice.
Alex joins Joy and Kelsey at the Pub. Alex tells Joy that he’s beyond sorry about what happened and how relieved he is that she’s okay. Alex asks if Joy has given any thought to how she’s going to handle this and if she’s going to file a criminal complaint against Stephanie. Joy responds that he’s damn right she is.
Cat tells EJ that she didn’t mean to upset him and she just thought since the drug helped cure Lexie’s brain tumor, then it might possibly help Chanel as well. EJ responds that it is possible but he intends to follow the law and submit the drug to the FDA for approval before it can be used on living patients. EJ says this means their research will be under higher scrutiny so experimenting on a pregnant woman is out of the question. Cat realizes that means it can’t help her mother as well. EJ tells her that he hates to disappoint her as he knows how devoted she is to her family and he’s so sorry that it can’t be used on her mother.
Belle joins Chad and the kids in the town square and says she’s so excited to be going to the Cubs game with them. Chad sends the kids to throw their trash away and then tells Belle that Thomas said he really likes her. Belle says she really likes the kids and their father too. Chad says the feeling is mutual.
Kayla asks Stephanie how many sleeping pills she took today. Stephanie says she took one on the plane and one when she got home. Kayla worries that’s pushing the recommended dosage and might explain why she woke up confused, thinking Joy was an intruder. Steve asks where the gun is now. Stephanie informs him that Jada confiscated it as evidence. Steve says at least they can count on Jada being fair. Stephanie asks if the district attorney’s office will press charges against her. Steve admits it’s a possibility and questions why the gun wasn’t locked in the gun safe. Stephanie admits she wanted it to be in easy reach in case an attacker got to her. She knows it was stupid, wrong, and reckless. She adds that if the gun had been stored and unloaded in the safe, she would’ve had time to realize it was Joy before firing it. Steve notes that it looks like she learned her lesson the hard way. Steve adds that if no case is brought against her, the gun will be returned to her and she will then keep it locked in the gun safe. Stephanie responds that she doesn’t want the gun as she doesn’t trust herself with it. She thought it would make her feel safe, but she now feels less safe than ever.
Jada joins Shawn at Small Bar where the Cubs game is on TV. Jada mentions Belle attending the game as Chad and the kids had an extra ticket. Shawn imagines they had a lot to unload after what happened with Stephanie and Joy. Jada says the good news is that Belle’s office doesn’t plan to press charges which Shawn calls a huge relief. Jada hopes Joy doesn’t force the issue.
Joy tells Alex that Stephanie tried to shoot her, so of course she’s going to file a complaint. Alex knows she’s shaken by what happened but points out that she wasn’t hurt. Joy remarks that’s only because Stephanie has terrible aim or else she’d be in the hospital or the morgue. Alex knows what she went through is terrifying and she has every reason to be upset, but argues that she has to understand that Stephanie thought she was an intruder and she would’ve never fired the gun if she knew it was her. Joy thought Alex was here to check on her, but he just wants to make sure that his wife doesn’t suffer any consequences for nearly blowing her head off and she’s not okay with that. Joy declares that his wife belongs in jail where she can never hurt her or her daughter again.
EJ repeats to Cat that he’s so sorry as he knows it isn’t what she wanted to hear, but even if the drug was approved, Dr. Rolf doesn’t believe it would improve her mother’s condition unless further research indicates otherwise. Cat questions EJ being in contact with Dr. Rolf. EJ claims it’s only been remotely as he’s been monitoring Lexie’s progress. EJ knows Cat was counting on the drug and repeats that he’s so sorry to disappoint her. EJ asks if there’s anything he can do to make it easier on her or make her feel better. Cat says not that she can think of and that she should get going. EJ questions her hurry. Cat mentions wanting to watch the baseball game, so EJ invites her to stay and they can watch it together.
Chad, Belle, Thomas, and Charlotte walk to the park as Charlotte is feeling car sick. Thomas worries about missing the first pitch. Belle encourages that maybe they’ll get extra innings and declares that what’s most important is that they could all be here together which makes Chad smile.
Jada hopes Joy doesn’t pursue a complaint against Stephanie as she would hate to be a witness against her best friend and Shawn’s cousin. Shawn calls it difficult to be objective when it involves someone you care about, but says all they can do is try their best to keep work separate from feelings. Jada asks if they are still talking about Stephanie or about them and their relationship.
Stephanie declares that she doesn’t want a gun in her house ever again. Steve is glad she feels that way as he doesn’t think she’s in any condition to have a weapon right now, but he wishes he realized that sooner. Stephanie says it’s not his fault as she lied to him. Kayla thinks she still has PTSD. Stephanie feels that’s no excuse and informs them that she made an appointment with Marlena for tomorrow because she needs to do something proactive to feel safe in her own skin again. Steve encourages her not to be so hard on herself when she’s been through so much in her life and she always comes through it, so she will do it again because she’s tough and strong. Stephanie cries that she doesn’t feel that way right now as they hug her.
Alex tells Joy that she has no idea what Stephanie has gone through the past few months and she’s trying to heal from the trauma of being kidnapped and is now having to deal with him having a child. Joy argues that Stephanie doesn’t want to be a stepmother and declares that even if she doesn’t go to jail, she’s not letting his wife near her kid ever again.
Belle encourages Thomas about catching a foul ball as Chad comes back with Charlotte feeling better. They talk about stopping at the fair on the way home. Belle shares baseball advice that John gave her with Thomas as they get ready to go.
EJ surprises Cat by informing her that he is a baseball fan. Cat shares with EJ that she is a fan of the Royals since she and her family lived in Kansas City for awhile. EJ assumes that’s where she met Clyde Weston.
Shawn confesses to Jada that since they’ve been spending so much time together lately, he does wish things turned out different. Jada admits she does too and that she’s kind of dreading him moving back to his own place because she’s going to miss his company. Shawn says he will miss her company too along with their movie nights and cooking together as it’s been great, but maybe a little bit dangerous since it brings up old feelings. Shawn thinks it’s great to finally acknowledge those feelings but they can’t act on them since she is his superior at work. Jada says lucky for them, there are ways around those rules.
Stephanie calls it hard to believe they were all just in China, having a great time at Tripp and Wendy’s wedding and now everything is falling apart. Steve encourages that it’s just a hard time, but she and Alex aren’t falling apart and will soon have a big celebration of their own. Stephanie wishes she could be excited about that but she feels so ashamed. Stephanie asks them not to tell Tripp or Joey because she doesn’t want to disappoint them too. Kayla says they won’t but promises they would only care that she’s okay and she will be. Stephanie responds that she just doesn’t see how.
Alex tells Joy that asking him to keep his wife and his daughter apart is not a reasonable demand. Joy questions her being the unreasonable one when she nearly got shot. Alex tells Joy that they have to find a way to make this work for Kelsey’s sake. Joy tells Alex that he’s welcome to visit Kelsey any time at her place without Stephanie. Alex argues that Joy hid Kelsey from him for six months but he accepted her and agreed to supported her, but now she’s trying to put conditions on that. Joy asks if he’s trying to blackmail her by saying he won’t be apart of Kelsey’s life if Stephanie can’t. Alex assures her that what happened today won’t happen again and it can’t because Jada confiscated the gun and Stephanie doesn’t even want it in the house. Joy argues that it’s not about the gun, but that Stephanie is unstable and she won’t let that be her or Kelsey’s problem. Joy declares that Kelsey is her only priority and right now, she doesn’t trust Stephanie around her. Joy proposes that she won’t file a complaint against Stephanie if Alex agrees to keep her out of Kelsey’s life. Alex calls that blackmail. Joy says if he doesn’t like it, they can fight it out in court. Alex argues that they have to find middle ground. Joy says they can’t, so either he agrees to her terms or his wife will suffer the consequences for what she did to her. Alex then reluctantly decides they have a deal.
Cat tells EJ that she doesn’t know how her family got mixed up with Clyde Weston and she obviously wishes they hadn’t. Cat says because of Clyde, she lost her father and pretty much lost her mother and Chad. Cat apologizes as she’s sure it’s awkward for her to bring up her past with his brother, especially since they’ve been feeling a connection since remembering their time at the rehba hospital in Italy together. EJ says there’s no denying it. Cat remarks that she wishes she could’ve remembered more during her hypnosis with Marlena. EJ doesn’t know why it means so much to remember those memories, when they are together again and able to make new memories.
Shawn questions what Jada is suggesting. Jada points out that technically, Shawn doesn’t report directly to her so it wouldn’t be a violation of policy if they pursued a relationship and disclose it if it were of some interest.
Kayla assures Stephanie that she will be okay and urges her not to let this mistake define her. Alex comes home and informs Stephanie that he asked her parents to keep an eye on her while he talked to Joy. Alex announces that Joy is not going to press charges which they say is great news.
Cat asks EJ what kind of new memories he had in mind. EJ says it depends on what kind of memories she wants to make as he’s happy to follow her lead. Cat suggests they start by holding hands. Cat then tells EJ that there may be a memory she wants to make with him more as she kisses him.
Alex, Stephanie, Steve, and Kayla walk through the town square. Stephanie says she feels better as Steve encourages that getting out of the house was a good idea. Kayla suggests getting ice cream so she and Steve go to get it. Steve questions why he didn’t know better than to give Stephanie a gun. Kayla encourages that he was trying to protect his daughter and to be grateful there was no tragedy. Steve asks how she knows exactly what he needs to hear as they hug. Stephanie tells Alex that she still feels so awful about what happened but she’s relieved to know she won’t be facing criminal charges. Alex calls it a relief to him too. Stephanie picks up a flyer for Tate’s new gym and self defense classes. They then spot Joy and Kelsey in the town square. Stephanie feels she should go apologize again and thank Joy for not filing a complaint. Alex tells her that he doesn’t think that’s a good idea and suggests she just leave it alone for now and let it go.
Shawn assures Jada that there’s definitely interest in pursuing a relationship as they end up kissing. They then look over at the TV where they see Chad and Belle end up on the kiss cam at the Cubs game and they kiss. Jada jokes that they’re trying to steal their thunder. Shawn responds that they won’t let them as he and Jada continue kissing.
