Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph
Stephanie is at home looking uncomfortable. She picks up her gun from it’s drawer and then puts it back down.
Philip wakes up in bed next to Gabi, sitting up with her tablet. Philip questions that being how Gabi wants to spend being in bed with him. Gabi assures she’d rather be doing anything else. Philip questions what she is doing and sees her screen is on Liam’s mugshot, so he asks who that is. Gabi responds that he is just someone who is going to regret ever laying eyes on her daughter.
Tate, Holly, and Arianna walk to the town square, talking about looking for Sophia all night. Holly suggests getting coffee while Arianna insists they are going to find Sophia. Tate brings up that she did leave a note while Arianna complains that Sophia is always doing dramatic things. Tate then gets a call from Brady and asks if there’s any update. Tate thanks him for letting him know as he hangs up. Tate then informs Arianna and Holly that they did not find Sophia, but they are pretty sure she’s gone.
Jada brings Amy to the interrogation room of the police station. Amy questions what she couldn’t tell her over the phone and if they found Sophia. Jada informs her that their divers are dragging the Salem River and they haven’t found her, but they did find her shoe. Amy argues that doesn’t mean anything. Jada adds that there was blood found on the pier, so Amy asks if it’s Sophia’s. Jada says that’s why she wanted to talk as she needs a hairbrush or something to use as a DNA comparison, but there is a possibility that the blood could match Sophia. Amy responds that she’ll have to go home to get Sophia’s toothbrush. Jada asks if her husband can’t bring it. Amy informs her that he’s on a business trip, so she had to tell him over the phone that Sophia left a suicide note and disappeared. Amy cries about being out all night looking for her. Jada offers to send some officers to her home. Amy mentions that her sister is there as she drove in from Green Bay, so Jada agrees to send someone over. Amy tells her that she doesn’t understand since Sophia never gave up. Amy cries that she could see something was wrong last night and that she was upset, but she didn’t know how upset and now she knows she was saying goodbye. Amy declares that it’s all because of that two-faced backstabber and that her daughter would be with her right now if it wasn’t for Holly Jonas.
Tate informs Holly and Arianna that they found Sophia’s backpack and it looks like she jumped into the river. Arianna says she can’t believe it. Holly says she hated Sophia for the terrible things she did and part of her has to admit she’s glad she’s gone, but she never wanted it to happen like this.
Gabi complains to Philip about Arianna falling for Liam and how Arianna let him hide out in her dorm room while hiding from Vivian’s goons. Gabi adds that Liam has a five year old son and says she went to Rafe to find out all he could on Liam, so it’s worse than she imagined. Gabi brings up that Liam’s son’s mother died of an overdose and that he’s functionally illiterate. Gabi declares that she doesn’t know what Arianna sees in Liam, but she’s going to make sure she never sees him again. Philip believes her but he thinks she’d be making a really big mistake.
Joy wakes up in her room in the Salem Inn to her daughter Kelsey crying. Joy gets up to check on her and says she knows this isn’t her home but she’s going to do everything she can to help her settle in and that she will like it here because Salem is a nice place.
Alex joins Stephanie in the living room and asks if she couldn’t sleep. Stephanie says it was basically time to get up anyways. Alex then gets an alert on his phone that the paternity test results are in and reveals that it’s a match, so he is Kelsey’s father.
Joy gets Kelsey back to sleep and then gets a call from Jeremy and asks if something is wrong. Jeremy informs her that he’s moving back to New York. Joy says if that’s what he really wants and wishes him safe travels as they hang up. Joy guesses things didn’t turn out well for Jeremy in Salem after all. Joy hopes that she and Kelsey have better luck.
Stephanie tells Alex that it’s not a surprise as they pretty much knew Joy’s baby was his, so now they just need to figure out what to do. Julie shows up at their door and says she’s sorry to intrude so early. Julie informs them that Jeremy is gone and left for New York before she woke up, so she was afraid there was some urgency with his sudden departure. Stephanie asks if he said why he happened to go back to New York. Julie responds that Jeremy had said he thinks he had done the right thing for the wrong reason and asks if she has any idea what that means. Stephanie informs her that she actually does.
Gabi questions Philip thinking it would be a mistake to keep Liam away from her daughter. Philip clarifies that he thinks it would be a mistake to interfere, pointing out that Arianna is in college now and headstrong like her mom. Philip feels the more Gabi tells her that Liam is off limits, the more she will want to prove her wrong. Gabi angrily remarks that Philip doesn’t have kids so he doesn’t get to tell her how to raise hers. Philip tells her to have it her way because he’s going back to sleep.
Arianna says she doesn’t know how to feel as she and Sophia used to be such good friends before she went off the deep end. Arianna tells Holly that she wasn’t the only one to have a big blowout with Sophia yesterday. Arianna admits she came for her hard but she didn’t know it was the last time she’d ever talk to her. Holly turns to Tate and asks why he’s not saying anything and if he’s okay.
Amy asks if Jada knows what Sophia has been through this past year. Jada says some of it, but not all. Amy says first there was the pregnancy, then trying to find the baby a home and the fallout with her so called friends turning on her and then Bayview. Amy says she tried to be there for her but she was so full of pain. Amy says that Sophia must have felt so desperate and alone. Jada tells her that she’s so sorry as it’s terribly sad what they had to go through. Amy states that she gave her everything she had and no matter what, she loves her daughter and she prays that Sophia knew that. Amy asks Jada for an honest answer and not what she thinks she wants to hear as she questions if there’s any chance that Sophia is still alive.
Alex questions it being a good idea to talk about this before coffee. Stephanie says it’s fine but suggests she and Julie should talk alone, so Alex goes to get them some lattes and exits. Julie thought Stephanie was going to give Jeremy a second chance. Stephanie responds that she was, but explains that Jeremy found out that Joy gave birth to Alex’s baby and urged her to come back to Salem to break up her marriage.
Gabi apologizes to Philip and says she was just upset about Arianna. Philip responds that he was just offering advice and trying to be helpful. Philip knows he never raised a teenager but he remembers what it was like to be one. Philip asks when Gabi last thought about what Arianna’s life is like and how Gabi would’ve felt at her age, if she fell for someone but her mom swooped in and said she doesn’t get to care for this guy. Gabi claims that she would’ve been grateful that her mom was trying to protect her. Philip doesn’t believe her and guesses Gabi was a free spirit at Arianna’s age. Gabi admits she was a handful and that she made a lot of mistakes that she wishes she hadn’t. Philip points out that she learned from her mistakes, so maybe parents have to let their kids grow up sometimes so they learn they can survive screwing up. Philip repeats that he’s never raised a teenager but for a long time, he did think Claire was his daughter. Philip then tells Gabi that he’s wanted to tell her this for awhile, but he does have a kid out there.
Alex goes to the Brady Pub and runs in to Joy with Kelsey. Alex tells her about getting the paternity test results back. Joy asks what now, now that he knows he’s a dad. Alex responds that he thinks that’s something they need to figure out together.
Tate sits down and talks about how he hated what Sophia did, but she wasn’t always like that. Tate recalls sharing a lot when she was pregnant and cries that he cared about her and tried to do right by her. Tate admits he made Sophia think he was interested in her and then hurt her. Tate feels she acted out because of what he did when they never had a chance. Holly hugs Tate as he cries.
Jada tells Amy that until they have a body, there is always hope but given the evidence and the time that has passed, the chances of Sophia being alive are very slim. Jada hugs Amy as she cries.
Joy asks Alex what he thinks they should do. Alex knows she has a life in New York so he’s not going to ask her to stay in Salem if she doesn’t want to. Joy feels he doesn’t want her to stay but Alex says that’s not what he meant. Alex declares that he wants to spend as much time with his daughter as he can. Joy says that’s what she wants too. Joy adds that she doesn’t have much of a life in New York to go back to which is kind of why she came in the first place, so she does want to stay in Salem if Alex is sure that he wants them to. Alex responds that he is sure. Joy asks about Stephanie as she doubts she’d feel the same.
Julie asks Stephanie if Jeremy said he wanted Joy to break up her and Alex. Stephanie says he didn’t admit to that but she went to him as a friend and he kissed her, so that’s how she knows he was hoping to use Joy and the baby to his own advantage with her. Julie admits he shouldn’t have kissed her and she doesn’t condone that. Julie says maybe Jeremy’s motives weren’t the purest but she thinks it’s better that Joy is in Salem so Alex can be part of his daughter’s life. Stephanie agrees but wishes it wasn’t happening right now as it’s such bad timing. Julie knows it changes everything, but says life doesn’t flow along on their plans or schedule and sometimes their love is tested. Julie states that sometimes the challenge makes love go stronger.
Philip explains to Gabi that he and Belle were doing IVF but there was a mixup at the clinic and the surrogate ended up pregnant with his baby and his name is Tyler. Philip says that he and Mimi ended up signing over parental rights to the surrogate and he was given up for adoption. Gabi says she had no idea. Philip adds that he didn’t raise Tyler so he can’t be called a parent like Gabi is to Arianna, but he did try to find him so it’s not like he doesn’t care and he still wonders what he’s up to. Philip says one day they might meet and get to know each other. Gabi says she never would’ve said what she said if she had known and apologizes for hurting his feelings, which Philip admits she did.
Holly tells Tate that he cannot blame himself for this and encourages that he’s a good guy. Holly states that Sophia committed suicide because she was mentally ill and not in her right mind. Arianna suggests saying “died by” instead of committed suicide. Holly insists she never would’ve wanted that to happen but it’s not anyone’s fault as Sophia did this to herself. Amy then appears and disagrees, telling Holly that she did this to her.
Alex thinks Stephanie understands they are all going to have to adapt. Alex says Joy raising Kelsey on her own has not been right, so he owes her support, financially and emotionally, so Stephanie will get that. Alex adds that there’s a lot more going on between he and Stephanie that’s not about Joy. Alex brings up getting married on Valentine’s Day and the very next day, Stephanie was kidnapped and tied up in a freezing room. Joy says that’s horrible and she’s so sorry. Alex says she’s trying to recover from that still and this is going to be hard no matter what. Joy worries that she shouldn’t have come. Alex says if she goes back to New York, he will be worried sick about them and he’d be flying back and forth to see Kelsey which would be much harder. Joy doubts it’d be harder than having them in his face every day.
Julie tells Stephanie that her heart goes out to her and she’s sorry Jeremy had a hand in it. Stephanie says she’s sorry he went back to New York since she knows it meant a lot to her to have him in town. Julie points out that she has Lani and the kids and Chad and his family now. Stephanie is glad she has a full house and thank Julie for being caring and understanding. Julie responds that she understands because she was in a similar situation once which Stephanie questions. Julie explains that once upon a time, she was engaged to a man, who then married her best friend because she was pregnant with his baby. Stephanie asks if the man came back to her. Julie says no and that she shouldn’t have brought it up, but points out the silver lining is that if she got what she wanted then, she never would’ve met Doug and had the 50 happiest years of her life. Julie encourages Stephanie to have faith and if it’s meant to be, it will be.
Philip says Gabi is worried about Arianna and he made it about himself. Philip admits that Gabi has every right to be worried since Liam sounds like bad news, but if his rebellious youth is any guide, telling Arianna not to see the guy is only going to make sure she keeps seeing him. Gabi admits that she thinks he’s right.
Holly tries to tell Amy that she’s sorry but Amy doesn’t want to hear it. Amy accuses her of driving Sophia to this. Tate says this is not Holly’s fault. Amy asks why she read all about what Holly did to her then in Sophia’s suicide not, which Amy pulls out and reads to them. Amy asks what Holly expected after what she and Arianna wrote about Sophia on their gossip site. Amy questions what kind of person tells a young girl who just came out of a mental institution that she’s dead to them. Amy says it’s no wonder Sophia felt like she had no one and says they did everything they could to make sure Sophia was hated by everyone. Amy argues that Sophia was sick with mental illness and if any of them had any sympathy, they wouldn’t be dragging the Salem River for her baby’s dead body, leaving Arianna, Holly, and Tate in tears.
Alex returns home with lattes. Stephanie notes that it took awhile. Alex says he brought one for Julie too but she just left. Alex asks if Stephanie told her what happened. Stephanie says that Julie now understands why Jeremy left town so abruptly and asks if Alex is a relieved about that as she is. Alex admits he is and then tells Stephanie that he ran in to Joy at the Pub and told her about the DNA test.
Joy goes back to her room at the Salem Inn with Kelsey and tells her that’s the best news.
Alex informs Stephanie that Joy has decided to stay in Salem.
Joy tells Kelsey that Alex wants to stay and get to know her better, so this is turning out to be such a great day.
Gabi tells Philip that she’s sorry as she knows he was hoping to sleep in before a big day. Philip says he still has time before his flight leaves. Gabi asks where he’s going. Philip calls it a quick trip across the pond to seal a deal in person. Gabi points out that he doesn’t have to sleep in, so Philip asks if she had something else in mind as Gabi kisses him.
Amy argues that Holly bullied Sophia in to wanting to end her own life. Holly remembers her last confrontation with Sophia where she said part of her wished she was dead. Amy shows her phone and says her evil words are right there. Holly tries to argue but Amy doesn’t care and says that cyber bullying is a crime, so she is responsible for what happened to Sophia and she will make sure she pays. Amy walks away as Holly breaks down crying in Tate’s arms.
