Christine has Sharon meet with her alone at the GCAC dining room to discuss Mariah’s upcoming meeting with the judge and to ask for Sharon’s help. Christine tells Sharon that she negotiated a plea deal with the DA – Mariah is to plead guilty in exchange for probation and treatment in a psychiatric facility. Christine says that if the judge signs off on it, it’s the best bet for Mariah to avoid prison. She informs Sharon that Mariah is not cooperating and that Mariah thinks she cheated the system and that probation and psychiatric care are too lenient. Christine tells Sharon that Mariah won’t listen to her anymore and asks her to talk to Mariah about the situation. Sharon is reluctant and suggests that Christine postpone Mariah’s meeting with the judge. Christine doesn’t think there would be a valid reason for that and insists that Sharon speak to Mariah.
Meanwhile, Daniel runs into Mariah at the Chancellor Park cafe, where she immediately asks him how her family, namely Tessa and Aria, are doing. He tells her they are doing ok and she asks about his status with Tessa. Mariah lets him know that she’s aware there’s something going on between Tessa and him, it’s fine with her, and says she needs to know that Tessa has moved on. Daniel defers to Tessa. Mariah tells him she is going to plead guilty, deserves to go to prison for a long time and asks him to look after Tessa and Aria when she’s gone.
Daniel explains that there’s still hope for her and Tessa, unlike his permanent loss of Heather. He eventually gets through to Mariah and she admits that she loves and misses her family so much and that it is killing her not to be with them. However, she also says that she was awful to Tessa, Aria and Dominic and that she planned everything. She says that she can’t go back to her family after what she did and runs off. Daniel calls Tessa, who meets him at the cafe, and he tells her that Mariah admitted that she misses Tessa and Aria. He also says that he feels that Tessa and Mariah have unfinished business because they’re still married and share a child together. He tells Tessa that she needs to know in her heart what it is and who it is she really wants, him or Mariah.
Back at Crimson Lights, Christine and Sharon run into Mariah. Christine is trying to persuade Mariah to take the plea deal when Mariah gets a text from Tessa asking to meet with her.
Chelsea and Billy encounter each other at Society, where she expresses sympathy for his loss of Chancellor and is happy to hear that things with him and Sally are back on track. They talk about what Victor’s kidnapping of Jack and Billy expresses satisfaction that Victor only got Chancellor back, which was Katherine’s legacy, not Victor’s. Things turn ugly when Chelsea expresses her annoyance at how Billy folded what had been Newman Media into what became Spectra-Charles Media and he speculates that she Adam and might have been involved in Victor kidnapping Jack. They argue.
In the Las Vegas hotel room that he and Nick are secretly sharing, Adam leaves another voicemail for Riza, reiterating his desire to talk with her. Nick is antsy, impatient and very on edge because the fentanyl he has become addicted to for his leg pain has worn off. Adam is anxious and concerned about seeing Riza again, but rejects Nick’s offer for him to call it quits, go home and avoid having to be back in contact with her. Adam insists he’s not backing out. Riza finally returns Adam’s call and agrees to meet him alone in what he leads her to believe is his hotel room. Nick takes off and pops one of the fentanyl pills as soon as he gets inside the hotel elevator. While waiting for Riza, Adam has a drink from the hotel room bar. When she arrives and he lets her in, she points a gun at him.
