Days of Our Lives Update

PART THREE
Eric takes the stand at John’s funeral and talks about how even after he found out John wasn’t his father, they maintained a strong connection. Eric calls John a mentor for all of his kids and says presiding over John’s service has been one of the greatest honors of his life as well as one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do. Eric gives hugs and kisses on the cheek to Marlena, Belle, and Carrie.
Bo complains that he needs to be at John’s funeral. Hope argues that everyone will understand and that Shawn is there representing them. Bo feels it’s not the same and that he needs to pay respects to John in person. Hope points out that the service has already started. Bo argues that they aren’t that far away and can still make it. Hope believes that John wouldn’t want Bo to leave the hospital until he’s completely ready to. Hope worries that if something happens to Bo, then all of John’s sacrifice will have all been in vain.
Eric returns to the podium and says that his twin sister Sami wanted to be there but announces that she will instead be joining them virtually. Eric adds that you can’t stop Sami from speaking her mind, so she sent him a message to read. Eric reads Sami’s message, saying that for years she told everyone that John ruined her life and tore apart her family until she came to her senses and realized how wrong she was. Sami wrote about the memories and the lessons John taught her so he actually made her life infinitely better. Sami thanked John for loving her and her family while apologizing for being a total nightmare and ended her message that she will always love John and she already misses him. Carrie gets up and hugs Eric as she takes the podium next. Carrie talks about John and Marlena successfully blending their families. Carrie cries about John being like a father to her. Carrie brings up when John and Marlena got remarried in 1999 and how they had each of them bring up a different flower to represent how important they were to the family. Carrie announces they want to recreate that ritual in memory John and as a symbol to Marlena’s enduring love for him.
Bo tells Hope that he would not leave the hospital if there was a chance of endangering his life, insisting he wouldn’t risk their future together but declares that he has to be at the funeral for John. Bo adds that John has always been there for them and he knows Hope wants to be at the service just as much as he does. Bo states that John was like a brother to them, so he asks for the car keys. Hope agrees to get the car but warns that if she sees the slightest hint that it’s too much for him, they are coming right back.
Carrie announces that since Sami couldn’t attend, she gave her blessing for Paul to take her place in the ritual. Marlena flashes back to the 1999 wedding and hears John’s words as Belle goes first with a daisy. Brady goes next with a sunflower. Paul delivers the rose and Eric follows with the snapdragon. Carrie goes last with the orchid to Marlena and John’s words from 1999. Brady stands to acknowledge John’s father, Timothy Robicheaux and talks about what they meant to each other despite finding each other later in life. Brady talks about John’s many skills and jokes about his famous eyebrow as he makes everyone laugh with his impressions. Brady talks about John’s identity being a mystery for a long time and how he was haunted by his past, but when he met Timothy, he exorcised those ghosts and was certain about who he was. Brady calls John the world’s greatest dad and he got to know that all his life. Brady is grateful that John got to experience that for himself briefly as he then takes his seat. They look to Marlena, who then stands up to take the podium. Marlena states that she didn’t plan to speak today and holds back tears as she mentions expressing her feelings to John before he died. Marlena shares the poem “Seasons of Love” as one that meant a lot to her and John. Marlena says she will have their seasons of love in her heart forever. Marlena talks about surviving the obstacles in their life because their love brought them through. Marlena really believes they will survive this now as their love will bring them through. Marlena tearfully says “Goodnight, my love” to the portrait of John. Eric returns to the podium for another prayer but Hope and Bo arrive, surprising everyone. Kayla questions what Bo is doing there. Hope responds that once she told him what happened, there was no stopping him. Hope hugs Marlena and says she’s so sorry as there are no words. Bo apologizes for the interruption but felt he had to be there for Marlena and John. Bo asks if it’s not too late for him to say something. Marlena says she would love that as Bo hugs her.
Bo then takes to the podium and talks about when John first came to them and they didn’t really know who he was. Bo recalls fighting with John until he almost went off a cliff but John saved him. Bo calls John a powerful man but says his true power was his huge heart and compassion no matter what you were going through. Bo holds back tears as he acknowledges that John sacrificed his life for him and gave him time. Bo declares that John didn’t just save his life, but made it possible to save life after life. Bo says John may not be here with them, but his gift of life will go on and on. Bo declares that’s a fact and that he will carry John with him always as he cries for John to rest in peace. Eric stands up and thanks everyone for coming. Eric invites everyone to the Brady Pub to continue the celebration of John’s life. Marlena stands and tells Eric that he did a beautiful job and that John would’ve been proud as they hug. Kayla embraces Bo but worries there was no way he was well enough to leave the hospital as he could really jeopardize his recovery. Bo responds that he would’ve felt much worse if he didn’t get to pay tribute to someone who felt like his brother. Chanel comments that Johnny looked a little distress when Kayla talked about John’s legacy living on through all of them. Johnny says the way he’s behaved lately falls way short, so he thinks John would be disappointed in him. Chanel feels he’s being too hard on himself and encourages him of all the good changes he’s made lately. Kate declares that John will always hold a special place in her heart as he was a true friend. Kate cries that she doesn’t know what they will do without him as Roman hugs her. Marlena flashes back to John bringing her favorite flowers to her at work as she sees the same type of flowers at the funeral and wonders who sent them. Brady comments on John giving his love to Isabella. Belle talks to Shawn about how she was just encouraging him not to give up hope on his dad, because her dad was coming home and Shawn said he thought two miracles was too much to hope for and he was right. Shawn says he’s so sorry as they hug. Hope talks to Bo about her and John having a special bond because of everything Stefano put them through, so they really understood each other. Hope looks at the photos of John and cries that she will miss everything about him, especially his kindness and his stories. Hope says she always looked up to John like a big brother and he’s with the angels now as Bo hugs her. Kayla tells Marlena that she checked with the hospital and the gold coin that was in John’s room isn’t there and seems to have disappeared. Marlena says not to worry about it as the coin was meant to be a sign of hope that John would recover and that hope is gone. Kayla says she’s so sorry as she hugs Marlena.
