Days of Our Lives Update
Update written by Joseph
Sophia runs in to Tate in the town square and asks what he’s doing there. Tate responds that he was waiting for her.
Holly goes to the Brady Pub to see Eric, who is surprised to see she’s back. Holly informs him that her flight from Paris just landed and that she came here to talk to him. Eric mentions hearing from Nicole that she was glad to see her and asks if the trip went well. Holly says yes and no.
Chad returns home where Julie greets him and says she just put the children down as she didn’t know he was coming home. Chad says that’s probably for the best. Julie asks where Abigail is, then guesses that she didn’t get her memory back in Paris. Chad then reveals to Julie that it wasn’t Abigail.
Cat and Mark are put in holding cells opposite each other at the police station. Cat asks him what happened. Mark responds that he’s sorry about their mother, so Cat worries that she’s dead.
Steve goes to see Marlena, who says she got his message. Steve says he’s sorry to come by so late. Marlena says she was up and asks about his flight. Steve says it was long and that he and Chad just landed but neither got any sleep. Marlena can’t imagine how hard this must be for Chad to find out that the woman he thought was Abigail was an impostor. Steve states that she’s been lying to them for months. Marlena asks how Chad is holding up. Steve responds that he barely said a word the whole way home and that he’s at Julie’s, breaking the news to her now.
Chad informs Julie that it was all a hoax and that Jennifer was right all along. Julie calls it terrible for him and says she’s so sorry, asking what Clyde expected to get out of it this time. Chad reveals that Clyde wanted his family’s money as Cat’s idea was to marry him to steal it. Julie questions the idea of Chad marrying a woman he hardly knows, but Chad reveals that he did marry her yesterday.
Mark tells Cat that he doesn’t know if their mom was killed as they wouldn’t put his call through to Clyde. Mark guesses Clyde figured out that he didn’t carry out his marching orders since Chad is still alive, so they obviously can’t get his money and Clyde has no use for them or their mom anymore. Cat argues that he doesn’t know that for a fact yet, so they can’t just assume or give up if there’s still any hope that their mom is still alive.
Holly tells Eric about how she thought it would be so romantic for Chad and Abigail to get remarried in Paris, but she ended up being the one to expose Cat as an impostor. Eric says it sounds like it was good she was there. Holly adds that she was glad that Eric encouraged her to go since right before she left, she forgave her mom.
Tate asks Sophia why she’s surprised that he was waiting for her since they had a good time last night. They agree that the movie they saw was dumb, so Tate hopes they can try again. Sophia agrees and asks what he has in mind. Tate suggests they could go out to dinner to mix it up which Sophia agrees to, so they take a table at the town square.
Eric tells Holly that he’s so happy to hear that she forgave Nicole. Holly says after being in the middle of the whole fake Abigail situation, she started to realize why people lie and why Nicole lied to her about how her dad died, because she was too young to understand. She guesses it became harder for them to tell her because she loved Eric like a father. Eric admits they should’ve told her sooner. Holly agrees but understands why they didn’t. Holly acknowledges that Nicole loves her and she loves her, which is what matters the most. Eric is glad that she came to that conclusion. Holly then adds that Eric is a really great person, so she forgives him too.
Julie questions Chad marrying the woman, which he confirms. Chad calls himself an idiot. Julie disagrees and guesses that she tried to convince him that if they were married again in Paris, she’d get her memory back. Chad remembers Cat telling him about her feelings for him coming back. Chad admits she didn’t convince him that hard because he was so desperately wanted to believe it that he fell for it. Julie argues that she’s not Abigail so it’s not legal. Chad points out that he still said “I do” and now he can’t help but feel like he was unfaithful to Abigail’s memory. Julie argues that the only dishonorable thing is that woman. Julie asks where she came from and who she is. Chad informs her that her real name is Cat Green, short for Catharina. Julie declares that as far as she’s concerned, Cat can go to Hell.
Cat complains to Mark that after everything they did to deceive Chad and his entire family, they just threw away their entire lives for nothing. Mark adds that he even threw away his one phone call, but at least he didn’t kill Chad in cold blood. Cat says thank God for that.
Marlena tells Steve that she worked with Mark and he seemed like such a good guy, so she’s surprised by this. Steve adds that Kayla was too as she said he was one of the best doctors on staff. Marlena asks if he knows any more about the connection between Mark, Cat, and Clyde. Steve responds that he does and that there’s a silver lining to all of this that affects John directly.
Tate and Sophia eat together in the town square. They joke about Tate not being a fan of escargot. Sophia tells Tate about her and Holly being close friends in first grade and how she never thought they’d lose their friendship over a guy. Sophia guesses it was really because Holly lied to her, betrayed her, and slapped her. Sophia adds that one way she wishes she was more like Holly is that Holly doesn’t wish or pray for things, she just comes right out and asks for it. Tate asks if she’s trying to ask him something. Sophia says she’s just wondering because Tate said he wasn’t ready to move on from Holly, but now he’s come to ask her out two days in a row. Sophia asks if Tate has changed his mind about them.
Holly admits it was a bit easier to forgive Nicole than Eric since Nicole lied to her but isn’t the one who drove drunk and took the life of her father who she never got to know. Eric says he would do anything to take back that night. Holly says Maggie told her how he tortured himself over it and went to prison, but everyone eventually forgave him because it was a terrible accident and he never meant for it to happen. Holly brings up the night she overdosed and how she offered Tate drugs too, so it’s not her place to judge. Holly declares that Eric is a great father and that she, Nicole, and Jude are lucky to have him in their lives. Eric tells Holly how much that means to him as they hug. Eric is glad they had this conversation before he goes back to Paris tonight which surprises her. Eric then mentions Brady being cleared which Holly questions.
Cat acknowledges that Mark must have been so tormented after being told he had to kill Chad. Mark assures that the only reason he was doing it was because he knew if he didn’t, Clyde would send someone else to do it. Cat encourages him not to beat himself up since he would’ve never attempted it if not for the situation their mom is in. Mark still hates himself for going along with it. Cat brings up having feelings for Chad and that Mark knew she wasn’t just pretending to be in love with him.
Chad tells Julie about Mark being Cat’s brother and that he was at the hospital to make sure they got the DNA test results they needed. Chad adds that it’s not all he did. Julie questions what else he did. Chad says all that’s important is that it’s over. Julie tells Chad that she’s so sorry and sorry about her part in it too since she urged Chad to tell the kids that their mother was alive but thank God he didn’t do it. Chad points out that Cat was the one who persuaded him not to since she said she wanted to protect the kids. Julie argues that she had been saying that over and over for a long time and questions if he’s going to believe her this time.
Steve reminds Marlena how when John was abducted in Greece, he was found in the same apartment where they found the impostor Abigail. Steve then reveals to Marlena that the fake Abigail is Cat Green, who was named after her mother Catharina, Konstantin’s daughter that John supposedly killed when he was The Pawn. Steve says she obviously survived the shooting and may still be alive today. Marlena questions how that’s possible since Steve was there the night John shot Catharina. Steve says he thought she was dead and Konstantin obviously thought so too but he was unconscious, so what happened next was anyone’s guess. Steve doesn’t think Cat has any idea that he and John crossed paths with her mother in Greece. Marlena asks where she is now, feeling they have to find her and talk to her but Steve says that’s unfortunately not possible.
Cat calls it understandable that there’s a wonderful guy that loves his wife so much and she was pretending to be her. Cat says the love Chad has for Abigail is so beautiful. Cat talks about how Chad was so excited and full of joy, thinking that Abigail came back to him and didn’t die in such a horrible event. Cat calls Chad a good guy, dad, and husband but she broke his heart. Mark adds that he was going to take his life. Cat says it doesn’t matter how they feel about this now that the truth is out as Chad hates both of them and isn’t going to forgive them, certainly not her.
Chad assures Julie that he’s furious with Cat for what she did. Julie argues that Cat had no feelings for Chad or the children and was just pretending for the money. Chad says there’s more to it which she questions. Chad reveals that Cat said that Clyde Weston forced her to do it by holding her mother hostage and threatening to kill her if she didn’t go through with his plan. Julie laughs off that being what Cat told him. Chad admits that Cat said she felt real feelings for him.
Eric reveals to Holly that it was Xander’s mother who hit Sarah which shocks her. Eric apologizes as he thought she already knew. Holly talks about how she went after Brady so hard and how difficult it was for her. Holly says it wasn’t even about him but about how her dad died in a car accident and guesses she transferred those feelings to Brady. Holly talks about how she couldn’t let it go and went to look for evidence to give to EJ. Holly doesn’t think Tate will ever forgive her or even wants to. Holly remarks that Tate is with Sophia now as she made sure to be there for him ever since.
Tate tells Sophia that he hates that her friendship with Holly ended over him, so he wanted to make sure the same thing didn’t happen between he and Aaron which Sophia questions. Tate explains that he talked to Aaron about it and he said he knew Sophia wasn’t in to him, so he told him to go for it. Sophia mocks the idea of Aaron giving him his blessing and relinquishing his claim on her. Tate tries to say it’s not like that but Sophia asks if this is him going for it.
Eric asks if Holly ever thought she would forgive Nicole or him for what they did. Holly admits she didn’t. Eric points out that she did and so she knows Tate will forgive her at some point, but it just might take some time. Holly feels that she can’t just wait around and do nothing as she has to tell Tate how sorry she is for hurting him, especially before Sophia gets her claws in to him and it’s too late.
Tate guesses this is him going for it which seems to upset Sophia. Tate apologizes as he thought that’s what she wanted. Sophia asks if he’s sure he’s ready to move on from Holly. Tate says Holly is in Paris and he doesn’t even know if she’s coming home now that they have broken up. Sophia doubts it since she was determined to finish high school in Salem. Sophia adds that maybe now that they know Brady is innocent, Holly will feel guilty and apologize so they can get back together. Tate argues that if Holly wanted to get back together, he would’ve heard from her by now. Sophia then questions if Tate would take Holly back if she wanted to get back together. Tate admits he doesn’t know. Sophia says that’s what she thought and that doesn’t work for her as she’s not a placeholder to entertain him while Holly is gone. Sophia declares that she deserves better.
Cat complains about what a mess this is as they have no idea how long they will be in jail, if their mom is still alive, and what Aaron and Felicity are going to do without Mark. Mark wonders if they know he’s been arrested but he’s sure it’s hit the news by now. Cat adds that they will also hear about her and everything she did. Mark assures that she’s their sister and they love her so that won’t change. Cat says she misses them. Mark says they need them, so they will find a way to come out of this somehow, together.
Marlena goes over to Steve that Clyde said he would kill Catharina if Mark and Cat didn’t turn over the DiMera fortune. Steve confirms they can’t be sure that Catharina is still alive. Marlena questions how Clyde could even communicate from super max prison. Steve says he contacted Shane to tell him that this needs to end. Steve adds that they can’t protect Catharina at this point but he had Shane put extra security in place to prevent Clyde from contacting anyone to give the word to kill. Marlena questions how to keep Catharina safe if they don’t know where she is. Steve says they can’t but reminds her of the silver lining. Marlena is excited to tell John that he didn’t kill Catharina and he’s an innocent man.
Julie questions Chad about how Cat could have feelings for him when she hardly knows him. Julie asks about how Cat recited Abigail’s wedding vows to him. Chad explains that she found the vows in the attic and memorized them. Chad says it made him believe and it did something to her as he flashes back to Cat reciting the vows to him. Chad says then they got married, said real vows, and kissed. Julie questions if Chad is going to start feeling sorry for a con artist and let her suck him in again. Chad repeats that he’s furious with her for what she did to him and his family. Julie asks if Jack and Jennifer know. Chad confirms that JJ told them, so he wanted to tell Julie in person since she’s been with him through all of this and is his rock. Julie says he is her rock and talks about all they went through with the house fire and living in this house with the children. Julie cries that her heart is aching for him and he must be so tired. Julie offers to make him tea but Chad says he has something he has to do right away. Julie advises him to be careful as he then exits.
Tate apologizes to Sophia and swears he didn’t mean to upset her. Sophia complains that he thinks of her as a consolation prize. Tate insists that he doesn’t think of her that way. Tate brings up that he’s already hurt her before, so he’s trying really hard not to move too fast. Tate says so much went wrong with he and Holly from the start, so he doesn’t really think it could ever work out between them which is why he’s sure he wants to move on. Tate tells Sophia that he really liked spending time with her and would like to spend more time with her. Sophia assures that she’s okay with that, so Tate invites her over to his place to watch a movie. Sophia says she would love that as they hold hands.
Holly goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion and texts Tate that she’s back in Salem, asking if they can talk.
Marlena goes to the Brady Pub where Eric tells her that Holly forgave him and he’s grateful that Holly and Nicole worked things out. Marlena hopes that means Eric and Nicole will spend more time visiting Holly here which Eric promises to do. Marlena says she will miss him. Eric says he’s thankful they had this time together. Marlena adds that she’s really happy it worked out that he gets to be with his baby and the woman he loves. Eric prays that they will one day live closer. Marlena thinks they definitely will. Marlena says they’ll have lots of video chats and visit when they can. Marlena adds that John said he loves him and will miss him as well. Marlena mentions that she will fill him in later but John is still processing some major news. Marlena says it’s like they had a little miracle.
Cat is brought in to the interrogation room and asks the guard what she’s doing here and what’s going on. He informs her that someone wants to see her which she questions. Chad then arrives and reveals it’s him.
