THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

What do you mean, you can’t? You can’t tell the truth? Holly, this is my life we’re talking about. Right now I have no life. I am stuck in some halfway house for no reason, even though I didn’t do anything wrong. I want my life back, Holly.

Okay, okay. I’ll tell them the drugs weren’t yours. I just, I can’t tell them they were mine.

No, no, but they’re still gonna think that they were mine. Don’t you get it?

Hey, please. We can make up another story.

Why do we have to make up a different story? Why can’t you just tell the truth?

Because Look, I overheard my mom talking to EJ when she thought I was sleeping, and she was going on and on about how disappointed she’d be if it turned out those drugs were mine.  And I mean, you know, when she lost her baby, she totally fell apart. It was horrible what that did to her. And then, and then with me almost dying? She’s been through so much lately, and if she thought I was responsible for what happened to me? I can’t do that to her, Tate. I just can’t. Because she would never trust me again.

Oh my God. So, you are going to sacrifice me? You are going to totally ruin my life so that you can what, Holly? Keep up appearances? Pretend that you are just this little golden child?

It’s not like that.

Then what is it like, Holly? Please, please, you have to help me. You are the only one that can solve this.

Please. Tate, please don’t make me do this.

What is all What the hell? EJ, it’s not what It’s not what it looks you get in here, Tate? I’m calling the police. No!

Oh, coffee. At this hour, you’re going to work, aren’t you? I am. I have the overnight tonight, and you are going to the gym. I’m going to the gym. I’m going to go lift some weights and, uh, wear myself out. Good. Well, good luck with that, Brady. I’ll see you later. See ya. Uh, uh, sir, can I, can I just Do you have a minute?

Yeah, I don’t have to be at work for another half hour. What’s up? I, uh, actually had a medical question for you. About comas.

Are they breathing? Ava, please stay back! Are they breathing? Please tell me! I already did! Call again! Come on, keep calling me! Yes, hi, hi, I just called a few minutes ago. Yeah, about two people we found out at the old brewery near the airport. Why isn’t anyone here yet? Okay, well, one of them is my son. You need to come now.

Please, well, please hurry. Come quick. Okay, they said they’re on their way. What is happening? Come on. Get back here. Come on. Come on, buddy. Come on. Come on. Oh, dear God. Dear God, please save my boy. Got nothing over here, buddy. Come on, buddy. Come on, Wendy, come on. Come on, come on, Wendy. Come on. There’s something out of here.

Tripp! Wait, we need some serious medical help here now. Tripp!

Yeah, this is Commissioner Hernandez. We need two RAs, backup, and the CSU at the old brewery off Foxhorn Road by the airport. Now!

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

I was just wondering, um, based on your professional experience, can a coma affect Holly Jonas’s memory? Brady, I can’t discuss that with you. It’s doctor patient confidentiality. Right, of course, um. Let me pose it more generally then. Okay. Can a person, can a person’s memory be affected by a comb? Well, um, I’m, I’m not a neurologist.

Right. So, that feels important to say. Um, but what I do know is that, There is a potential for that. Um, a coma can cause a wide range of cognitive and physical impairments, which can include memory loss. Uh, short term. A long term? Well, that depends on the severity of the brain damage that caused the coma and how long a person’s in a coma.

So her, but her memories could come back. Sarah, my, my, my, my son’s future depends upon Holly remembering what happened the night she OD’d. Right. So. Right, no, I, I understand Brady. And I am. I am so sorry because I can’t even imagine how hard that has to be. Um, you know, like I said, neurology is not my specialty.

But what I do know from my limited experience, once a coma patient regains consciousness, um, their memories could come back quickly, gradually, or sometimes not at all. Yeah, I read that online. But I just, I just wanted to get a professional’s opinion, so. Sarah, thank you. Anytime. Brady, I, I really do hope everything works out for Tate.

Thanks.

But they were her drugs, not mine. Dad, you have to believe me. I hate I believe you. Why wouldn’t I? Alright, your mother believes you too. The problem is, how do we prove it? If Holly won’t admit it, do you have any proof at all? Do you have anything? My word. That’s all. It’s my word against hers. EJ, please don’t call the police.

Tate didn’t do anything wrong. He broke into my home. I know, but will you just give us a chance to explain? Please just hang up. Let us tell you why he’s here.

Let’s hear it. Sir, I’m sorry to disrupt your evening. I just wanted to see Holly. I’ve been so worried about her. Yeah, I bet you are worried. Since you’re the one who pushed the drugs on her that caused her to OD. She nearly died because of you. No, that’s not true. You have it all wrong about the night Holly OD’d.

The drugs that she took They weren’t mine. I swear they weren’t mine. What is all the ruckus? Tate, my god, what are you doing here? Breaking and entering into Holly’s bedroom window, apparently. I just wanted to see her. I, I’ve missed her so much. Look, I’ve heard enough. I’m calling the police and you’re not going to stop me this time.

Mom, do something. Please stop it. No, I can’t do that, honey. And Tate, I, I’m gonna call your father.

Nicole, what’s up? Brady, thank God you answered. I need you to get to the DiMera mansion right away. Tate’s here. What? He broke in the house to see Holly. Dammit. And EJ’s calling the police right now. Alright, I’m on my way.

Okay, you too. Tell me what’s really going on.

Oh, it’s a trap, baby. Baby, please come back to us. You’re my life, you’re my heart. Please, please come back to us. Check her.

We got a pulse. Wendy’s got a pulse. Come on, Kato. Come on, Kato. I’m doing good. Did you hear that? Wendy’s coming back. Come on, now. You gotta fight and come back to us. Come on. Come on, Tripp. You fight. Fight. Wendy, I’m here. I’m out here. We’re here for you. If you can hear me, squeeze my hand, alright?

She did it! She did it! Wendy’s back! You’re doing great, kiddo. You’re doing great, kiddo. Come on, hang in there with us. Come on. You’re doing great. You’re doing great. No, no, no, no, no. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re doing fine. Just stay right there. That’s it. That’s it. You’re doing good. You’re doing good. You’re okay.

He’s right here. He’s right here. Dad’s helping him. Is he okay? The only way you can help Tripp is for you to get stronger. And the way you’re going to do that, you’re going to focus on Wendy. You’re going to focus on me right now. And we’re going to breathe together. Are you ready? We’re going to inhale slowly.

Here we go. Inhale. Come on. That’s it. Come on. Exhale. That’s it. Exhale. One more time. Inhale. I got a pulse. Nice. What are you doing? I got a pulse. Baby Tripp! Can you hear me? Yeah. Breathe, bro. Breathe, bro. Breathe. There he is. There you go. Do it, buddy. Where’s, where’s, where’s Wendy? Where’s, where’s my wife? Hey,

Wendy’s here, Tripp. She’s okay. Yes. It’s all good. It’s all right. It’s okay. Thank God. Baby, you called her your wife. Well, he just said that because he hoped someday she will be. Right? Right now, we’re just relieved. I found you, and you’re okay.

Yeah, Jay. Yeah, we found them both, and it looks like they’re gonna be okay. Good job, good job. Peter?

Alma. Alright, just stay on top of it and call me if there are any updates. What happened? Clyde Weston escaped from Statesville. Jay,

do you have any intel on that? Well, it just happened, I mean. I’m sure they’re looking at prison surveillance videos as we speak. I think you had help from Goldman? Yeah, who else?

Dad, you called him. He has the right to know what’s going on with his son. Are you okay? Dad, I swear, all I wanted to do was see Holly. I hadn’t seen her since she got back. I wanted to make sure that she was all right. The only thing he wanted to make sure of was that Holly would lie for him and tell everyone that the drugs that nearly killed her were hers.

Holly, I heard what you said when I opened your door before. You said Tate don’t make me do this. All I wanted her to do was tell the truth. I just want my life back. You can tell your story to the police. Holly, please, please just tell them what happened. It’s okay. They’re gonna take me back to jail.

Please, Holly.

There he is, officers. Take Black. Arrest him. I

want that man arrested for breaking and entering. EJ, please, can we please talk about this for a second? There is nothing to talk about, Brady. Your son has been a plague on my family the moment he arrived in Salem, and we’ve all had enough. He left the halfway house he was confined to, without permission obviously, and then proceeded to break into my home and harass my stepdaughter.

EJ, he broke into your house because he was falsely accused and he’s desperate. He’s a good, honest kid. He wouldn’t have risked everything to break in here if he wasn’t telling the truth. All my son wants is for Holly to finally tell the truth about how and why she OD’d on New Year’s Eve. But we already know how and why she OD’d.

Your son pushed drugs on her. That is why she OD’d, and that is why she ended up in a coma for several months. And Tate only broke in here to try and cover his arse! Stop it! That’s not true! Tate Honey? Polly? Polly? Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Honey!

Yep. Both Wendy and Tripp are alert. They’re doing well, getting checked out as we speak. We should be able to interview them sometime tonight. Listen to me, Jada. I need you to stay on the warden. Alright, we’re gonna need to interview guards, prisoners, support staff. Yeah. As soon as possible. Alright, I’ll see you at the station.

Bye. Any update on Clyde? Not yet. Hell of a start, huh? Breaking out of Statesville. Sure was.

Why haven’t we heard anything yet? Listen, Tripp and Wendy are in good hands, Ava. We need to trust the doctors to do their job. Yeah, speaking of trust What the hell, Ava? We had a plan here. Yeah, some plan. Tripp and Wendy might have died if I hadn’t thought like Clyde, so don’t Hi, sorry, I hope I’m not interrupting, but I do have good news.

You can see Tripp and Wendy now.

So, um, how, how is Tripp? He’s gonna be okay, isn’t he? Yeah, he’s doing well. He’s resting comfortably. Obviously, he’s been through quite an ordeal, as you know. So, keep your visit short, please. He needs the rest, as does Wendy. Okay, thank you. Thank you, Dr. Horton. Yeah, he’s in room 441. Great, thanks. Thanks. So, do you think maybe Wendy’s up for a visit also?

Mm hmm. Judging by my conversation earlier, I think she is. She’s in room 445. Nice. Thank you, Doctor. You got it. Detective Michaels. Yes. How are you feeling? Uh, I’m good. You know, I’m getting stronger every day. Good. Yeah, I’m glad to hear that. I would like to get you checked out, though. So, go talk to Wendy, and then meet me in exam room C.

It’s just down the hall.

I’m awake, Mom. You don’t have to tiptoe. How did you know that it would It’s the perfume you wear. It’s kind of a dead giveaway. Well, no sneaking up on our boy, I guess. How you doing, sweetheart? What can I get you? You need some extra pillows? You need some water? Mom, I’m good, Mom. Thank you. Yeah? How you feeling, son?

Besides tired. I’m just glad to be lying down in an actual bed. Oh, baby. I don’t think I’ve ever been that scared in my life. But your father

Your father saved your life.

Hi, it was a group effort. What’s important now is we found you in time. You’re okay. Hey, Lindy. Hey, Mr. Black, Commissioner. How you

doing there, kiddo? I’m not doing great physically. Really? I’m just beyond relieved and grateful. To be able to breathe. You guys, you really saved my life. And Tripp’s. All in a day’s work. Hey, it’s my line. What do you say? I know you both went above and beyond, so really, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

No, no, no. Having you alive and well, that’s all the thanks that we need. Yeah. So, uh, should I contact your parents? Well, actually, I tried to call my mom, but I got her voicemail and I didn’t get into anything in the message, but I just wanted her to know that I was okay. And Tripp, he’s okay, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

In fact, his parents are in there with him right now.

So, Wendy, you feel up to talking about what happened? Yeah, yeah, sure. What happened was, Officer Goldman found Trip and I at the geocaching event on Valentine’s Day. And she told us that Trip was in danger. That we had to follow her to a safe house for protection. She said it was a direct order from you, Commissioner.

Yeah, well, um, Yeah, we just learned that she was a bad cop and, uh, Wish we were known sooner. I wish I had too. I was so sure she was one of the good guys. Yeah, right. Well, she obviously is not. In fact, we’re just learning about all the criminal activities that she’s been up to. But, Wendy, kudos on that clue.

Well, it was one of the first words I learned to sign in my college ASL class. Well, you know, I got this feeling that Abe and Steve are going to set you up with a lifetime of beer to memorialize that brilliance. Am I missing something here? Didn’t you know about the video that Officer Goldman had Tripp record for Ava?

Yeah, I did. Okay, well I guess what you didn’t notice was me standing behind Tripp signing the word beer. Wendy’s quick thinking is what led us to the brewery. Wow, Wendy, that was really impressive. Thanks, Commissioner. Yeah, then again, maybe we’d have found you sooner if Ava had just Shared the video with us from the beginning.

Holly, Holly, are you okay? Holly, honey, talk to me. Everyone back off. Especially you. AJ! Oh my gosh. Come on. Get him out of here, please. Wait, wait. Hold on. Wait, stop. Wait, hold on, hold on. Judge, that’s a misunderstanding. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have a right to an attorney.

Commissioner,

please don’t be upset with Ava, okay? Officer Goldman told us that no cops could know about the video. Or else we’d be dead. Yeah, but Ava knew she could trust me. But it was a happy ending, right? We found Wendy and Tripp in time and they’re both okay? Okay. Look, I know that you’re close with Ava. If I find out that she had anything to do with Weston’s escape.

Where’s this coming from? Harris, come on. Really? Well, you don’t think that it’s just a little convenient that at the same time Weston escapes? Triple window, you’re found. Okay, do you have evidence linking Ava to Clyde’s escape? No, not at the moment. But we both know what Ava’s capable of.

Thank you guys for not giving up on us. Either of you. You know, toward the end there, uh, Wendy and I were for sure that we were going to tie in that tank. Well, you know, it was Wendy’s clue with the sign language that saved you. We didn’t have time to plan anything. Officer Goldman had, uh, I spoiled the gunpoint and she told me to read the script as written.

And, you know, Wendy acted on her own. Thank God she did. She’s a very brave young woman. It’s a damn good thing Goldman didn’t notice what she was doing back there. Yeah, she was trying to be, uh, not too obvious to tip off Goldman, but she wanted to Be obvious enough so that you guys could catch it. Almost didn’t at first.

But, your father and John, they were relentless about analyzing that video. Thank God they did not give up. You’re counting on that? Yeah. You know what I’m counting on? I’m counting on you coming home real soon. So, what you need to do right now, sweetheart, is just relax, okay?

Mind if I stay, though? I mean, even if I’m just watching you sleep. Stay as long as you want, Mom. You too, Dad.

You’re a very lucky guy, Detective. Those stitches weren’t meant to be put through the ringer. You’re Yeah, I get that, but hey, I’m still standing. Um, okay, so this is for an antibiotic. And this is for a pain medicine. The antibiotic you have to take. The pain medicine you should only take if necessary. Got it.

I would also prescribe bed rest, but I feel like I’d be wasting my breath. Uh, you would be. Well, I admire your dedication to your job. Uh, I can say the same for you. Seriously though, Harris, I do hope that you’ll get to the bottom of your own case. You know that Xander’s been held in jail without bail ever since you were shot.

Uh, yeah. And I’m, I’m sorry about that. I’m sure my fellow officers would just follow the trail of evidence. The evidence that lined up perfectly to point a finger at Xander? And since I know he’s innocent, I’m Since you’re up and moving around, I thought maybe you would remember who did shoot you. No, so far I, I don’t.

Well, I hope you do remember soon because Victoria really misses her dad. And Xander’s absolutely crazy about her. He’s missing a lot of firsts. Again, I’m really sorry. Thank you. And, and from a medical perspective, I do understand that your memory of that night might elude you, but you were really experienced, Detective Harris, so I have every faith you’ll keep investigating until you figure out who really did shoot you.

So that Victoria and I can bring her dad home, where he belongs.

Well, Wendy seemed in pretty good spirits. Yeah, trip two. Boy, those kids sure are resilient, aren’t they? Yeah. I guess when they’re feeling stronger, we can get more information from them. Yeah, well, I’m not so sure Kyme’s on our side, partner. What are you talking about? No one knows who was involved in Weston’s escape.

Rafe is suspicious of Ava. Based on what? Previous experience with her, cops intuition. I don’t know, I just got the definite vibe that he’s about to start digging. Oh, boy. And his digging could lead straight back to us. Damn it. We’ve made ourselves a serious mistake here, partner. We let the devil loose. God only knows what’s gonna happen next.

Hey.

Well? You all checked out? As ordered. Any updates on the escape? I’m heading to the station now. Gotta put a task force together. This investigation’s gonna be massive. Copy that. I’m gonna hit the pharmacy first, I’ll be right behind you. Mmm, nope, no you’re not. What does that mean? That means that you are not going to the station.

You are going home to get some rest. Doctor’s orders. And mine. Oh, you’re pulling rank on me. Yeah, absolutely. I am. Listen, I need you. But I also need you to be healed up and rested, okay? I can’t take the chance of losing you. You hear me? Alright? Got it.

Hey, Dr. Horton. Hey, Trent. Sorry if I woke you up, but how are you feeling? I’d feel a lot better if I could see Wendy. Think you could take me over to see her? I can do even better.

I’m here for you, Moana. I’m so excited to see you. You didn’t think that they would keep you away from me for long, did you?

May I interest you into a trip to the City of Lights, my sweet? Oh, me oui, mon amour. I’ll go anywhere. With you, Tripp Johnson. Right now, I think I’m just fine being here looking into your eyes. You know, not having a panic attack, not struggling to breathe. I’ll make sure that you never have to suffer through any of that again.

But we made it, Tripp. And struggling through that with you? I couldn’t have asked for a better beer tank, buddy. Me neither. I love you so much. I love you too.

Okay, well, your pulse feels normal. I told you, I’m okay, Mom. Alright, but just to be safe, I’m gonna call Sarah. No, you don’t need to bother Dr. Horton. I’ll be okay, I promise. Alright, well, fine. I won’t call her, but I will leave the monitor on just in case you need anything. And we will be right down the hall.

Actually, there is one thing. What is it? Please don’t send Tate to jail. I promise you, he didn’t do anything wrong. Look, honey, why don’t we talk about this in the morning, okay? Mom, shh. No, honey, shh. Listen, you just, you need to rest. Just close your eyes, okay? You don’t understand, Mom. Please, please. Listen to your mother, Holly.

She knows what’s best for you. Alright?

Please, someone might see us. My mom almost did. By the way, my parents are both addicts, so there is no way I’m taking those and neither should you. Oh, come on. They’re just some ADHD meds I got from someone at school. Everyone does it. Yeah, well, not me. And I didn’t think that you did either. Really? Because I offered you weed like your first day in Salem.

That is not weed, Holly. Those are amphetamines. Very mild ones. Look, they, they just make me feel better, okay? And they give me energy. Wait, so you need to feel better and have more energy tonight when you’re with me? Tate, you don’t understand. They’ll just, they’ll make things more fun for both of us. Yeah, no, not for me.

I’m out. Fine, Mr. Goody Two Shoes. I’m, I’m going to the bathroom. Don’t be sorry. Just Help me, Holly. You have to tell them the truth. Tell them What, exactly? That the pills were yours. That your ODing was because of the pills that you had on you that night, New Year’s Eve. Holly. You have to tell them that I had nothing to do with it.

I can’t.

Thank you. Thought I’m worried about Holly. You need to make sure that she’s okay. I’m sure EJ and Nicole have taken care of her. But what if she slipped back into the coma? Tate, it looked like she just fainted. Okay, right now my focus is on you. What’s gonna happen to me? Jim is, uh, Jim is gonna give me a minute with you before you have to, uh No.

Dad, no. They can take me back to the halfway house. I promise I won’t try to leave again. They can do whatever they want. I’ll sign up for more cleaning duties. Please, Dad, just Hey, there’s only so much I can do. I can’t help you here, because my hands are tied. You broke into the DA’s house. I know, but you can talk to Nicole.

She’ll listen to you. She is not going to turn on her husband right now. I can’t make her do that, all right? It’s going to look bad on everybody. Son, I’m sorry. Stop. No, no, no, please. Just wait one second. Dad, please. Tate, Tate, I will talk to Justin. I’ll get you out of this safe. I’m sorry. We’ll try to I’m sorry.

I know you are. It’s okay. I really screwed up this time.

It’s okay.

Thank you. Thank you for everything that you did for my son. Tripp’s gonna be okay. And so are you. Thank God. I know, um, I know how you were there for me. A lot. When I was unconscious, Rafe told me. I just want to say I’m sure it helped in my recovery. Just sensing that you were around me. Yeah. I’m not sure how much it helped but, I was definitely around.

How you feeling? Um, Glad I’m not staying here tonight. Looking forward to just sleeping in my own bed. Yeah. How about my bed? Harris, you’re still recovering from a gunshot wound and then you run around like some superhero. Try and help save my son. I know you, and I know you’re not recovered fully yet.

I know you need someone to help take care of you. And I’d like to be that someone. Will you let me? Please.
