Sheila: Tonight, you die, steffy.
Deacon: Have you seen sheila?
Waitress: Like recently?
Deacon: Yeah.
Waitress: No, sorry.
Deacon: Where the hell are you?
Sheila: She attacked me!
Steffy: Do not listen to her.
Sheila: I’ve made mistakes. I’ve made terrible mistakes. But do I deserve to die? Wants me gone. She wants your mother dead. Not behind bars, but dead!
Hope: Is it bad? Whatever you’re working on? Because the expression on your face is…
Finn: Oh, my god. Come in.
Hope: Now a good time to talk? Because it seems like there’s something weighing on you.
Finn: Um, yeah. My wife.
Deacon: Hey.
Liam: Hi.
Deacon: You, uh, here for a drink?
Liam: Uh, takeout. Although, I guess I gotta few minutes ’til it’s ready.
Deacon: Good, take a seat. Drink’s on me.
Liam: Thank you.
Deacon: I just, uh, want you to know there’s no hard feelings, liam. You know, about you and hope. I really do wish you the best.
Liam: Ah, uh, I appreciate that.
Deacon: Good. You wanna stay here and eat?
Liam: Uh, you know, I would. Uh, not a big fan of, uh, dining in here lately. Uh, just because sheila’s your star waitress, you know?
Deacon: Well, you’re not gonna have to worry about that because she’s not here tonight.
Liam: Oh. Weekly psychopath’s anonymous meeting?
Deacon: Actually, I don’t know where she is.
Hope: Something’s going on with steffy. Look, I– I don’t wanna get in the middle, but if, I don’t know, if there’s anything I can do to help.
Finn: Thanks, that’s– that’s– that’s really sweet, but you’re at the hospital. I should be the one helping you. Is everything okay?
Hope: Oh, yeah, I was just, uh, on my way to the hospital pharmacy to pick up some allergy drops for douglas, and I was walking by your door, and you seemed a little intense, so…
Finn: Huh.
Hope: What’s going on? You said it had to do with steffy?
Finn: Yeah, with steffy. And sheila.
[ Rattling ]
[ Wind whistling ] ( )
Hope: Steffy punched sheila.
Finn: Not unprovoked. Sheila shoved steffy first.
Hope: Okay, but sheila shouldn’t be anywhere near the kids.
Finn: I agree. She’s too dangerous. But.
Hope: But?
Finn: I don’t like that steffy confronted sheila.
Hope: Why, because she’s your birth mother, and you don’t feel like it’s steffy’s place?
Finn: It has nothing to do with that. It’s about wanting to know that steffy is safe. That she’s being smart. And getting in sheila’s face and punching her, I mean, how do you think that’s gonna end? I don’t want steffy saying or doing anything to incite her. And look, I am not defending her. She had no right to interact with kelly at all, period. But like it or not, sheila’s been living a pretty peaceful, quiet life. She’s working as a waitress. She’s been staying away. She hasn’t tried to inject herself into my world. It’s– it’s been pretty good. Good considering sheila’s past. So, why poke the bear?
Hope: So, you’re afraid that steffy has overstepped and potentially awoken the sleeping sociopath that is sheila carter?
Liam: Okay. Whoa! I mean, there… no wonder you don’t have any idea where sheila is. She’s probably off somewhere licking her wounds.
Deacon: I never should’ve said a word.
Liam: No, don’t say, no, you absolutely should have. And I’m grateful that you did, because this involves my daughter, deacon. Kelly could’ve gotten hurt.
Deacon: Kelly was never in any danger and steffy had no business getting in sheila’s face like that.
Liam: She had no business? No business? How many times has steffy told sheila, stay away from me, stay away from my family?
Deacon: That’s exactly what she’s doing. She’s just– you know, she’s focusing on other things. She’s focusing on me and our relationship, on this restaurant, her work here. And most importantly, she’s focusing on bettering herself. Look, I don’t expect you to believe it.
Liam: I don’T. I don’t believe it. Nobody believes it. Nobody.
Deacon: It doesn’t matter. You know, I’ve had a front-row seat to watch her progress.
Liam: Okay, all right, how– you– you can buy into the whole sheila’s changed narrative all you want. You just don’t get to expect anybody else to.
Deacon: I don’t expect it, liam, but it’s still true.
Liam: What if you’re wrong? What if you’re sacrificing your relationship with your daughter for a woman who probably doesn’t give a crap about you?
Deacon: That’s not my intention.
Liam: Do you really think that you’re not pushing her away right now?
Deacon: Liam, I love hope and my grandkids.
Liam: Prove it. Do something about it. Kick sheila to the curb, because you’re standing here, and you’re telling me that you don’t know where sheila is five minutes after telling me that she’s new and improved. Obviously, the fact that you don’t know where she is concerns you as much as it concerns me. It’s because you’re worried that she might be reverting back to her old, evil ways. Known for following your dreams.
Liam: I mean, it does worry you, doesn’t it? Not knowing where sheila is right now?
Deacon: What do you want me to say, liam? I mean, she’s a free woman. She can come and go as she pleases. All right, look, uh, the truth is that she’s been slipping away a lot lately.
Liam: I’m sorry, slipping? Slipping away?
Deacon: It used to be that, you know, she would… she’d hang out with me upstairs when it wasn’t her shift, you know? And now it’s like, I go to my apartment, I don’t know if she’s gonna be there or not.
Liam: Okay, do you ask her where she’s been?
Deacon: It’s a bit mysterious.
Liam: Oh, god, it’s not mysterious. She’s probably over at steffy’s house stalking them.
Deacon: No, no, don’t– don’t think that, all right? She has sworn that she wouldn’t bother either one of them.
Liam: Deacon, today. What about today?
Deacon: That was completely different. Kelly came into her space. Steffy, too. And besides, I asked her about her little disappearing acts. And she claims that she has been meeting someone from her past.
Liam: Oh, yeah, no, yeah, no, that tracks. I’m sure plenty of people from sheila’s past have just been clamoring to reconnect.
Deacon: That’s a point well taken.
Liam: The only– the only thing about sheila’s past that she gives a damn about is the child that she gave up. She’s obsessed. Obsessed with being in finn and hayes’ life and with getting steffy out of it.
Hope: So, that’s basically what you’re saying, right? I mean, if steffy provoked sheila, then… you still think she’s a threat.
Finn: I mean, I wish I didn’t, but yeah. I’m not just gonna take her word for it that she’s somehow reformed.
Hope: You shouldn’T. I mean, I don’t buy it. I don’t think she’s capable. She should still be in prison.
Finn: That’s exactly where she should be. And I know how much that angers steffy. Not just for what she’s done to us, but for everything that has happened to her over the years. I mean, my god, losing your mother for most of your childhood because of sheila? That’s traumatic enough. But then to go through what she did in that alley? Seeing me shot, thinking that I’m dead, and then have sheila turn the gun on her? I mean, I’m sure steffy has ptsd from that experience.
Hope: Anyone would. I mean, that’s not something you just get over. But I don’t know, it just seems like there’s something specific about it that’s bothering you.
Finn: Ah, it’s just something else that she said and I’m just, I’m just struggling to understand it.
Hope: Okay. Try me. What did she say?
Finn: Steffy said that the only way that she will ever truly feel free of sheila is if she were dead.
Steffy: [ Whispers ] Sheila? Sheila, is that you? Bombas makes absurdly comfortable underwear.
Finn: Human life is valuable. It’s important. Even for someone as horrible as sheila. Maybe… maybe there is some potential. Not that I want her anywhere around me, but if she spent some time in a prison and maybe had time to repent, I don’t know. But seeing it from steffy’s pspective, yeah, I can see how she thinks that that’s the best solution. And what sheila has done to her is unimaginable.
Hope: You’re a good husband. The fact that you are trying to see it from steffy’s perspective, but at the same time, I can also tell that it… it did disturb you. Steffy saying that about the woman who brought you into this world, I mean, that still hurts to hear. That she wants her dead.
Deacon: I specifically told sheila to stay away from steffy and finn, and I believe her. I believe she heard me. Besides, why would she jeopardize the life that she’s building?
Liam: The life with you?
Deacon: Yeah.
Liam: Deacon, brother. Whatever it is that you’ve got going on with sheila, you and I both know she wouldn’t hesitate for a second to kick it to the curb if it meant having a relationship with her son. That is the single most important thing in her whole life. And guess who she thinks is standing in the way of that right now? Steffy.
[ Cell phone rings ]
Steffy: Hey.
Finn: Hey, I’m, uh, I’m just checking in. I hope you’re relaxing after everything that went down today. Got a warm bath running, about to open a bottle of wine.
Steffy: Quite the opposite, actually. Nothing relaxing about this night.
Finn: What do you mean?
Steffy: The wind’s really picked up after you left.
Finn: Oh, yeah?
Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, it’s pretty crazy outside. The power went out.
Finn: Oh, what, so you’re in the dark? Did you light some candles?
Steffy: I’m– I’m looking for them right now. I mean, thank god the kids aren’t here. It’s pretty creepy not having any power.
Finn: Nah, I bet.
Steffy: Will you please come home soon? I– I really, really need you right now.
Finn: I won’t be long. I’ll be holding you in my arms.
Steffy: Yeah, sounds like heaven. I love you.
Finn: Love you too.
Steffy: Bye. Sheila. I know it’s you. Get out. You stay– you stay away from me. You stay the hell away from me. I told you never come back here. Get out! Get out of my house! I’ll do it. I’ll do it!
