I — I mean, I only met her briefly at the nurses’ ball, but, I mean, I’m really sorry you lost your friend. Yeah, but she was more than that. When I was a kid, she was married to my uncle tony. My cousin bj was her stepdaughter at first, and then she sealed the deal and adopted her. Long story short, bj died. A drunk driver plowed into their school bus, and she was gone. She was seven years old. That’s — that’s awful. I was six at the time, and I had been waiting on a heart for my heart transplant that I thought would never come, and… the heart that is in my body right now is from bobbie’s daughter. Because bobbie and my uncle tony gave it to me. Wow. Bobbie sounds like an incredibly strong, generous woman. I could go to her for anything. Especially all those years that my mom wasn’t around.
[ Sighs ] Now I couldn’t get rid of my mom if I tried, but bobbie was my go-to. She was everyone’s go-to. She lived to help people, but she wasn’t sentimental about it. She — and she did not mince her words. Like, if you did something wrong or made a mistake, she told you, but she did it because she cared for people. And now I can’t imagine port charles without bobbie spencer. Scout has been tied up in knots about this. She — she has nightmares. She’s a nervous wreck. Well, then I’ll go talk to her. Scout isn’t here. Oh. Rocco took her out for breakfast. I see. You see what? Well, if she’s got her appetite back, I’m assuming that means that you told her it was okay that she’s not going to westwood. No, you don’t understand, drew. She was so anxious. And it’s not like he has any shortage of enemies, either, ’cause he’s done a lot of damage in this community. And yet here you are, sitting vigil. I guess, whether I like it or not, he’s a member of my family. And what I learned with my son nikolas is that even though I may not like the way he behaves sometimes, I still…have a need to let them try to do better. Mm. [ Sighs ] You know, I think I liked him better before his conversion.
[ Laughs ] Did he say anything else? Yeah, he said his attacker was not to be blamed, that his so-called frailty was the reason his injuries were so bad. So what can you do with that? Nothing. I mean, we have no options, really. Without a name, without any evidence, we can investigate, but it’s not gonna go anywhere. Yeah. Without an account from a victim or an eyewitness, you can’t bring a case, can you? If only there was someone he trusted that he would tell the truth to, you know, like, say… his sister. You know what? I shouldn’t be here. I’m putting you in a really odd, awkward position. You know, you’re friends with willow and michael, and you’re on good terms with carly. [ Sighs ] Sonny is a deeply unhappy man. He took his feelings of hurt and betrayal out on a convenient target — me. Why, though? What did you do to betray him? Oh, not I, sister. Sonny was sinned against by his spouse. Are you talking about nina? I was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. And so sonny unleashed his frustrations on me. You must have assumed that carly and drew would end up in prison. And carly’s daughter donna is, what, five, six? Drew’s daughter, scout, is a few years older. However angry you were at the parents, it’s unlike you to do something hurtful to those girls. Yeah, it is. I mean
[Sighs] I wasn’t thinking. I had tunnel vision. I could only think about my pain, nobody else’S. And, yeah, why would anyone forgive me? Nina, after what I did to you, you should have never spoken to me again. And look at us. Here we are. If you could forgive me, then give others a chance to do the same for you. That’s what I want. Then let it happen, and don’t force it, like every instinct in your body is screaming for you to do. Just let it be and you might get what you want. And I mean, if she could do something so reprehensible to the mother of your children, what else is she capable of? I mean, could you even ever trust her again? What’s clear is that you will always be inclined to defend your friend corinthos, even after he’s attacked your own brother. I’ve known sonny for decades — decades. I’ve known you a lot less. As I’ve told you on several occasions, sonny corinthos is no better than the man I used to be.
[ Sighs ] Okay, look, cyrus, you know what my terms are with you. If you want to be a member of my family… more than anything. Okay. So you need to prove to me that you’re worthy of my trust.
