Taylor: Brooke, I– I don’t know what to say.
Brooke: Just say yes. You shouldn’t be alone right now and I promised I’d be here for you. So just say you’ll move in with me.
Finn: Nothing like a– a hot tub at night to help clear your head.
Steffy: You are so right. Oh. Oh, god. Again? It does feel good.
Finn: Mm-hmm.
Steffy: You know what else feels good?
Finn: Hm?
Steffy: Getting that call from– from brooke regarding my mom. It’s really nice to know that brooke’s there for her.
Finn: Yeah, I mean, we all are. Taylor’s gonna be okay.
Steffy: Yeah.
Finn: Yeah.
Steffy: My brother, on the other hand, I don’t know. I do not.
Finn: Steff, thomas is always gonna be a constant worry in your life.
Steffy: Yeah, I know. I know. I just hate that he made that call to cps and I– I understand why hope wants nothing to do with him. But thomas is douglas’ father and I know he really misses his son.
Thomas: Well, that is pretty amazing, bud.
Douglas: Thanks.
Thomas: Okay, um, I guess– I guess that’s about time.
Douglas: Are you leaving?
Thomas: Uh, yeah. You know, it’s getting late and you need to start getting ready for bed and everything, so.
Thomas: Uh, you know what? Actually, I think that in the car, you left your basketball. You wanna go grab it? Um, thanks for the visit. The, uh, supervised visit.
Liam: Can you blame us?
Thomas: Okay, look, I, um, I do have something I need to talk to you guys about.
Hope: Okay?
Thomas: I don’t– I don’t really have much right now. I don’t have my family, um, I don’t have my work, and I don’t have my son and um… I need my son. Um, so, that is why I had these drawn up.
Brooke: Come on, taylor, just say yes.
Taylor: Let’s say– let’s just say that we’re living together, we’re having so much fun, and then ridge comes back. What would– what would I do? I would just move back here, right?
Brooke: Uh… I hadn’t really thought about that.
Taylor: No, but, I mean, you still love him.
Brooke: Yeah, but you do too. So, I could ask you the same thing. If ridge does come back, would you prefer to be here waiting for him?
Steffy: Thomas worked so hard to prove to everyone the kind of father he could be.
Finn: Yeah, and it worked. I mean, he even got hope to support douglas staying at eric’s so they could spend more time together.
Steffy: The way douglas would look at thomas, like he was larger than life. He was his superhero. After everything that happened, I mean, the pain thomas has caused, forcing douglas to lie, I fear he may never be able to look at his father the same way again.
Hope: What are those?
Thomas: You said we’re gonna have to make difficult decisions as far as douglas is concerned, and I agree. But look, you won’t even let me spend the night with my son, you’re dictating when I can and can’t see him and I can’t take it.
Hope: That’s because you don’t even have a house right now, thomas.
Thomas: I have money, I can buy a house.
Liam: That’s not really the point, thomas–
Thomas: Liam, look, I really– I do appreciate everything you’ve done for douglas. It’s something I can never repay, but this is between his mother and me. I’ve been very good about sharing my son with you, but this has to be more fair and that’s why I had these papers drawn up. It can be handled as early as tomorrow.
Hope: Is this… is this serious? You’re proposing letting douglas decide where he wants to live? Unless you treat dandruff regularly,
Taylor: No, brooke, I am not waiting for ridge to come back. Neither one of us are putting our lives on hold for him ever again.
Brooke: But what if he were to come back clearly knowing what he wants.
Taylor: Ugh, what he wants. I’m so over that. But you know what, I do think he’s gonna come back. To you.
Brooke: What?
Taylor: Yeah, I mean, if you’ll have him, I do. You know, destiny and all.
Brooke: You said the d word. Destiny. You know, there was a time when that’s all I thought about. That’s all I wanted. But not anymore. I don’t want to be chosen. I want to do the choosing. And right now, I am choosing to be the best friend possible for you.
Finn: I’m sure thomas misses his son, but douglas living with liam and hope is for the best. At least for now.
Steffy: Yeah, you’re right. I think what douglas needs is stability, parents he can trust.
Finn: And thomas is gonna have to work really hard to be that for him again.
Steffy: I don’t know. He may never get that back with douglas. I know it’s breaking his heart, but despite everything, thomas loves his son and he wants to play a role in his life.
Thomas: Had my attorney draw up these documents. I mean, they’re pretty cut and dry. Douglas can chart his own destiny.
Hope: Douglas is a child. I mean, do you really think that he can handle this kind of monumental decision?
Thomas: Of course he can. Douglas is way ahead for his age. He’s such a smart kid and I really do think this is the most fair thing. For him to decide his own future.
Liam: Hey!
Thomas: Hey, bud.
Douglas: What’s going on?
Thomas: Well, we were just talking about, um, something. Look, douglas, I know things have been kind of weird lately. I really want you to know that I love you and I miss you so much. We were just talking about, um, how maybe I could get to see you a lot more here soon. Um, your mom and I have some plans and we’ll fill you in later. Okay. I’ll see you soon, bud.
Douglas: Bye, dad.
Thomas: Bye.
Hope: Hey, you all right?
Douglas: Yeah.
Hope: Yeah? Was it at least nice to see your dad?
Douglas: It was okay.
Hope: Look, sweetie, I know this has been really tough on you lately with all the back and forth. I mean, one moment you’re at your great granddad’s with your father and the next–
Douglas: I’m back here.
Hope: Yeah. Here, give me your hands. Douglas, I don’t ever want you to feel like you’re lost in the shuffle and like you aren’t being heard. So, I think it’s time we have a bit of a discussion about a way to make your living situation a little more permanent. One prilosec otc each morning blocks
Brooke: I think we have to make another pact. I mean, I’m sure the time will come when there’s another man in your life and in my life and we need to agree that it’s not gonna be the same man.
Taylor: Yes, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen for a while.
Brooke: Yeah. No, I don’t either.
[ Knocking on door ]
Steffy: Hold on.
Thomas: Steffy, hey.
Steffy: What? Whoa, hey. What are you–
Thomas: Hey.
Finn: Hey, thomas.
Steffy: The kids are sleeping. It’s late.
Thomas: Yeah, uh, I’m sorry if I’m intruding.
Steffy: Uh-uh, if?
Thomas: Yeah, look, um, will you be my witness tomorrow?
Steffy: What?
Thomas: I just proposed the idea, um, that douglas gets to choose who he lives with. And we’ll meet in front of a judge tomorrow.
Hope: All right, bud. Now, I know you said you had just an okay time with your dad tonight, but did you at least have a little bit of fun?
Douglas: I did.
Hope: Good.
Liam: Hey, um, you– you get why things have been a little weird lately, right?
Douglas: Yeah. Dad wanted me to lie about what he did to grandma brooke.
Hope: And you know you can always talk to us about how that made you feel.
Douglas: Makes me sad.
Hope: Oh, sweetie. I’m so sorry you feel that way. I mean, that is such– such a tough scenario to be in. So, it makes sense that you might feel that way, but I mean, you know, we think you are just the greatest and you bring so much humor and laughter and joy into our lives, into our family. And we love you. So, so, so very much.
Liam: So much.
Hope: You get that, right? All right. So, it’s time for the talk now. Come here, give me your hands. Knowing how much we love and adore you, you know that you can be honest with us, no matter what. You’re not going to hurt our feelings.
Liam: That’s right.
Hope: So, if there was a scenario, where in your heart of hearts, and you listen to it real hard, you got to decide between living with your father and living here with us, what do you think your heart would tell you?
Douglas: I would rather live here with you.
Hope: Sweetie, come here. Okay. We’re gonna work this out, okay? We’re gonna work it out. Having diabetes can raise a lot of questions. Just anybody’s face. That person has to be special.
Taylor: Yeah, I feel very special. Oh, brooke. Do you think you’ll ever put your faith in a man again?
Brooke: Mm, I don’t know. I don’t know what the future holds and that used to scare me. Not knowing who was going to be there for me and love me, kiss me, hold me. But I’m not afraid of that anymore.
Taylor: That’s good. I’m not either.
Brooke: I think we need to add to our pact.
Taylor: The pact about not being with the same man?
Brooke: That pact, yeah.
Taylor: Okay.
Brooke: I just think that we need to be good role models for our daughters. Continue to be, you know? They shouldn’t be rivals.
Taylor: No, no, the cycle– the cycle stops.
Brooke: Good.
Taylor: God, brooke I am still just– I’m blown away with your invitation for me to– to live with you. I’m just gonna need some time to think about it, okay?
Brooke: Of course.
Taylor: And I know– I know that you’re worried about being here, but, you know, I– I’m alone, but I’m not lonely. How could I be? I have you and your friendship and it is… it is helping me through one of the most difficult times of my life. My friend, brooke.
Brooke: My friend, taylor.
Taylor: I’m never gonna get sick of that.
[ Both laughing ]
Steffy: You’re gonna let douglas choose where he wants to live?
Thomas: Yes. With me or with hope and liam.
Finn: You think, after everything that just happened, that’s the best decision?
Thomas: All right, look, I’ve made mistakes, all right? But my son and I have a bond and that’s not gonna be broken by–
Steffy: Thomas.
Thomas: Some little phone call.
Finn: Thomas, I don’t think you understand how much that cps call affected douglas.
Thomas: Okay, I’m not here to ask for permission or anything. I just want to know if my sister is gonna have my back.
Steffy: Okay. Okay, I will, uh, I’ll be your witness. But I’m worried. I hate to say it, but, um, just be prepared to be let down. You might lose complete custody of your son tomorrow.
Liam: He’ll be asleep any minute.
Hope: I mean, honey, this– this is unbelievable. I mean, you heard douglas. He wants to live here with us and thomas is basically just giving him to us, full custody.
Liam: Uh, yeah, maybe. I mean, I’m sure thomas has some trick up his sleeve, no?
Hope: Well, I thought that too, but this is– this is really straightforward. I mean, tomorrow in the judge’s chambers, douglas can declare who he wants to be his guardian and it’s legally binding. I mean, that could be it. No more jumping through thomas’s hoops.
Liam: Well, yeah, ’cause how many times did you, you know, give him a chance to get his stuff together, right? How many times did you go to bat for him?
Hope: I gave him way too many chances and I was wrong. Which just goes to show that douglas should be as far away from him as possible, at least until thomas actually gets the help that he needs.
Liam: O– obviously, I couldn’t agree more. I’m just, I’m still just a little wary. It– yeah, no, it seems really straightforward, but–
Hope: Well, we can have our attorney looking over, but, liam, I mean, this– this changes everything and it makes me so happy for douglas. I mean, we can make his wish come true. He can have that stable, loving home where he feels protected and he feels safe and secure. I mean this… these papers change everything. Tomorrow… tomorrow, douglas could be ours.
