Nick: You know, vick, it’s bad enough you keep defending this guy. Now you’re talking about running away with him?
Victoria: I’m not running away. I’m changing direction and doing what I need to do to be happy.
Victor: What do you mean happy? With a guy like that? He’s gonna ruin your life!
Nikki: I knew that you still cared about ashland, but you told me over and over that you had no future. So what happened when you saw him? Why have you suddenly changed your mind?
Nick: Let me take a guess. He gave you some sob story about losing out on access to harrison, playing on your sympathies, because that’s what he does. How can you fall for this again?
Victoria: [ Scoffs ]
Adam: Why don’t we give victoria a chance to explain?
Victoria: Why bother, when nobody listens?
Adam: I just think if everybody understood your reasons —
Victoria: You know, I don’t have to defend my decision to forgive ashland. Besides, leaving genoa city is about much more than just that.
Nick: Yeah, so you keep saying.
Victoria: And I know that there’s nothing that I can say to change your opinion that this is the right move for me.
Victor: Don’t you understand? You’re aligning yourself with a user, with a liar, with a fraud. He is toying with you, sweetheart. Can’t you see that?
[ Cheering ]
Sharon: Oh, my gosh, welcome home! Look at you two. You’re glowing.
Tessa: Honeymoons do that.
Sharon: Yeah. Oh, my gosh, how was paris?
Mariah: I mean, didn’t we post enough pictures?
Sharon: Well, yeah, and i loved them all. Looked like the trip of a lifetime.
Tessa: Well, she was holding back. There were so many more. Probably hundreds?
Mariah: Yeah, and every photo has a story to go with it, i promise.
Sharon: Okay, I want to hear all those stories. First, can I get you something to drink?
Tessa: Yeah, chamomile tea would be great. I’ve had a sore throat the past couple of days, and I got to get over it before my tour starts.
Sharon: Done. Mariah?
Mariah: Just the usual, please.
Sharon: Alright, coming right up. Um, ooh. Ooh-la-la. What is this?
Mariah: Well, let’s just say I’m glad we saved space in our bags because we did all the shopping.
Tessa: We got gifts for everyone.
Sharon: Wow. Well, I’m sorry that we couldn’t all be here to greet you, and nick was here, but he got called away. And faith’s at school. I know that noah’s gonna drop by. He should be here any minute. Welcome back!
[ Laughs ] I missed you.
Mariah: I missed you, too.
Noah: Allie, hey.
Allie: Noah, hi. Great to see you.
Noah: Someone’s in a good mood today.
Allie: I am. I finally got my tour of the jabot r&d lab, and oh, my god, was it amazing.
Noah: I’ll have to take your word for it.
Allie: Yeah, see, most chem labs are pretty drab, right? You’ve got concrete floors, fluorescent lighting — it’s all really depressing. Plus, it doesn’t smell very good because —
Noah: Chemicals, right?
Allie: Cadaverine — my favorite — not.
Noah: [ Laughs ]
Allie: But the jabot lab — oh, my gosh, it was — it was dazzling.
Noah: Nice.
Allie: It was a gorgeous space, state-of-the-art.
Noah: I mean, your aunt, she’s no slouch. She got taste.
Allie: Yeah, and ashley spent over an hour with me. I was honored. Her team went over the research they were doing, which was fascinating.
Noah: They’re pretty big into perfumes over there, right? So I’m assuming it probably smelled a bit better than average, too.
Allie: They gave me a sample. You want to — want to try it?
Noah: Yeah. It’s nice. So what’s going on?

Allie: Oh, my god, look at me, geeking out over a lab. Could I be a bigger nerd?
Noah: No, no, it’s nice to see you so hyped up about something. This whole time, happiness was just a beaker away.
Allie: [ Chuckles ] It’s the little things, okay?
Noah: Alright, you must have had a blast over there, ’cause you’re not groaning nearly as much as you usually do about my corny jokes.
Allie: No, you know — you know I was just messing with you with that, right? It’s — it’s something I do when I’m around new people.
Noah: Little defense mechanism.
Allie: Yeah, I suppose. Especially now when I’m surrounded by them at my grandfather’s place.
Noah: Yeah, I remember you saying it felt a little strange, suddenly thrust into this big, busy family you didn’t even know you had.
Allie: Yeah. I mean, it’s a lot, but I’m getting used to it.
Noah: Your dad, he never even gave you a hint?
Allie: And now I will never get to ask him why. You know, whether he was planning on saying something and just couldn’t find the right words or he didn’t want me to know about these people ever. Which would be really hard because the abbotts have been so incredibly kind to me.
Noah: You mean you’re not worried your great aunt traci has a dark side? ‘Cause you should be.
Allie: [ Chuckles ] I like them all so much. I only wish he brought them into my life a little bit earlier. God, is it — is it terrible of me to find fault in my dad like that? Kind of feels like it is.
Sharon: [ Gasps ] Oh, look at this.
[ Gasps ] It’s exquisite. I love it.
Tessa: Well, when we saw it in that boutique, we just knew you had to have it.
Mariah: You know, we thought a lot about you while we were gone. How are you doing? And, like, really.
Sharon: Um…I’m doing okay. Truly. I miss rey. Sometimes I still reach for my phone to text him before i realize that I can’T. But I’m managing to keep busy. Nick and noah check in all the time, and faith’s been really sweet. She asked me for advice on how to decorate her future dorm room, which I know she doesn’t need. She’s just trying to distract me with something happy.
Mariah: Gosh, she’s gonna be graduating soon. Off to college. That’s crazy. And no second thoughts about university of michigan, right?
Sharon: Nope, and had she decided to stay here and go to gcu, I think a part of me would’ve always wondered if that decision might have been because of me, and I don’t know if i would’ve felt comfortable with that.
Mariah: I get that.
Sharon: But the one thing that always lifts my spirits the most is seeing you kids thriving.
Tessa: Well, we’re doing our part.
Sharon: You definitely are.
Nikki: I want everyone to take a breath because we’re all saying things that we are going to regret.
Victoria: You know, that’s a great suggestion, mom. And you all are gonna have a lot of time to cool off while ashland and I are getting settled into our new life.
Victor: Where exactly do you intend to do that?
Victoria: Haven’t decided yet. But I wouldn’t tell you if i had.
Nikki: Well, I hope you’re not just gonna disappear.
Victoria: Mom, please, I’ll be fine. Please have a little faith in my ability to take care of myself.
Nick: Don’t do that, alright? Don’t blow off our concerns. We are the people who stood by you while ashland was putting you through hell. What do you think that was like for us? I mean, the night we thought you were taking off to italy with him? How about the night you got in the car accident?
Victoria: Oh, you mean the same night that ashland saved my life?
Nick: You are missing the point.
Victoria: I don’t think so. In fact, the way that you’re talking to me right now, the way that you’re looking at me, you think I owe you, don’t you? Because you exposed ashland’s lies, you comforted me, you paid me off, and then you punished him, so you think that you have the right to tell me what to believe and how to live my life. Well, I’m sorry — I’m so sorry to disappoint you. But that’s not gonna work for me.
From prom dresses
Allie: Sorry, that’s probably too melodramatic of me — worried about betraying my father by deciding to get to know his father.
Noah: No, no, that’s what i was thinking about. I was just comparing our situations.
Allie: How so?
Noah: My father and grandfather are close, but they’ve butted heads a lot over the years. To give you an idea, one time my dad turned in my grandpa to the feds for some shady business practices, and it almost landed him in prison.
Allie: Are you serious?
Noah: Yeah, yeah, I wasn’t sure they’d get past that one. But through all their battles, my dad, he never tried to cut us off from our grandfather. He knows he love him and he allows us to have a separate relationship. I think maybe — maybe your dad would have the same attitude.
Allie: You think he would be okay with me coming here?
Noah: I mean, I didn’t know him personally, but I think he’d be glad that the abbotts have been so welcoming to you.
Allie: I really appreciate you saying that, noah.
Noah: Well, since we’re talking about families, the brides, they just got back from their honeymoon. I’m actually on my way to crimson lights to meet them now.
Allie: That’s great. Please, don’t let me keep you.
Noah: Do you want to come with me? You’d be more than welcome. Coffee’s on me.
Allie: Yeah, yeah, sure. I would love to.
Mariah: Okay, and this is the queen’s bedchambers.
Sharon: That is mind-blowing.
Mariah: I know.
Tessa: Next time faith asks about decorating her dorm room…
Sharon: Oh, don’t give her any ideas.
Mariah: Well, you know, maybe she could just take some gold leaf, put it on the door knobs, call it a day.
Sharon: You two were on a roll.
Mariah: Well, versailles is just so over-the-top. I mean, it’s hard not to make jokes about it.
Sharon: These are beautiful. I’m so glad that you’ll have these beautiful memories to look back on.
Tessa: Oh, my gosh, it was just the best surprise ever. Thank you.
Sharon: Well, nick made all the arrangements, so I really can’t take any of the credit for that.
Mariah: How is he doing?
Sharon: He is worried about victoria, along with the rest of the newman family.
Mariah: Why? What’s going on?
Sharon: Well, she and ashland have separated.
Tessa: Wait, are you serious?
Mariah: Has it even been a year?
Tessa: Wow. I sang at their wedding. They seemed so in love.
Sharon: Actually, it happened a little while ago, and I didn’t want to say anything because you were in the middle of planning your wedding.
Tessa: Oh, you didn’t want to jinx it?
Sharon: Yeah, or just bring you down. I didn’t want to do that.
Mariah: Well, “a,” you couldn’t have if you tried. And “b,” I hope that they find a way to work things out.
Sharon: Mm, I don’t see that happening. Without getting into all the gory details, victoria has discovered that ashland cannot be trusted.
Tessa: Well, that is a deal-breaker.
Sharon: Mm-hmm. But victoria will be fine. She has her family with her, and I know that they will get her through this.
Victor: You were blinded by love, and you still are.
Victoria: I’m sorry you see it that way.
Nick: What other way is there?
Victoria: [ Sighs ] I know you all think I’m crazy when I say that I believe ashland when he tells me that he loves me. But I don’t care.
Nikki: Darling, just give it some time. I mean, don’t leave town. Don’t give up the career you’ve spent a lifetime building.
Victoria: No, mother, I am not gonna subject ashland or myself to this family’s never-ending judgment. Life is too short to put up with that.
Nick: You think if ashland really cared about you, he’d ask you to give up running newman? That’s always been your dream.
Victoria: Once again, you weren’t listening when I said ashland is not solely the reason that I’m doing this. In fact, this wasn’t even his idea.
Victor: That’s ridiculous and you know it. You know the man’s a fraud. He is very clever at convincing you it was your idea, like with the damn merger.
Victoria: Oh, really?
Victor: Yes.
Victoria: So you really believe that I am not capable of thinking of anything on my own. Just so you know, ashland had his own doubts about this. He knew it would be hard for me to leave my own family.
Nick: His reluctance could be part of his con.
Victoria: Oh, come on, nicholas. Do you really think I’m that gullible? Do you really think that you all are so much smarter than me? Need I remind you, you believed that ashland had cancer, just like I did.
Victor: The moment that man came into your life, I began to have my doubts. That’s why I had him investigated, okay?
Victoria: [ Scoffs ] Revisionist history. Dad, you have approved of ashland more than any other person that I’ve ever loved.
Victor: This man is a fraud! A total fraud! Moment at the wedding in italy, that beautiful wedding, I knew how happy he made you, so i tolerated that nonsense for a while. But when he suddenly, miraculously became cured from a disease — an incurable disease — I knew something was off.
Victoria: You’re right. You’re right on both counts. Ashland did something very, very terrible, and he regrets it. But he’s still the perfect man for me.
Victor: Are you serious? You couldn’t be more wrong. You are stubborn.
Victoria: That attitude right there, it’s exactly what I’m talking about. And that’s why I’m leaving town and I am never coming back.
Victor: And I don’t —
Victoria: You think that i can’t survive without you telling me what to do, and I am tired of trying to win your approval over and over again. I’m done. I’m done.
Victor: If you make this decision, it is your decision. You own it! Don’t you blame anyone else in this room. You got it?! I’ve done nothing but protect you. I’ve promoted you. Made you the ceo of this business. One of the biggest companies in the world. And you do what?! You go to a fraud? You go into this, you call it “freedom,” it’ll be the biggest mistake you will ever make in your life.
Victoria: Goodbye, dad. Hi, I’m karen.
Noah: Hey, guys. Hey, mom.
Sharon: Hi!
Mariah: Hi.
Tessa: Hi.
Noah: You guys remember allie, right? Girl who crashed your wedding.
Allie: Okay, stop, summer invited me.
Tessa: Which was fine with us, because the more the merrier.
Mariah: Yeah, don’t listen to him. We’re glad that you were at our big day. And we’re glad we’re getting to see you again now.
Noah: Allie, mariah actually works at jabot, too, but she’s on the executive floor, not the super-duper cool part of the building.
Allie: Oh, that’s neat.
Mariah: What part of jabot is that?
Allie: He’s making fun of me. Ashley gave me a tour of the jabot lab, and I may have gushed about it — just a little.
Mariah: Yeah. I’ve seen it, and I have to say it’s worth gushing over.
Allie: Right?
Mariah: Hey, that’s actually a great idea for our social media posts. We can take a behind-the-scenes tour of jabot’s world-famous lab and show where all of the products are born.
Tessa: And just like that, vacation’s over. She is back to work.
Noah: [ Laughs ]
Sharon: Can I get you guys something to drink?
Noah: Oh, I can get it. Does anyone else want something?
Tessa: Ooh, some more hot water for tea.
Noah: Got it.
Allie: Black coffee, please.
Noah: For sure. Anyone else? Mom?
Sharon: Mm, no, I’m okay. Thank you.
Mariah: [ Clears throat ] I will have an arnold palmer that’s one-third lemonade and two-thirds iced tea. And I want four ice cubes exactly. In a soda glass with a green straw in it, and mocha syrup on top.
Noah: Mocha syrup in arnold palmer.
Mariah: Actually, no, no, that sounds disgusting. I was just doing that to annoy you.
Noah: Oh, okay.
Mariah: But the rest stands. If you don’t mind.
Noah: You guys see how she treats me, right?
Mariah: I mean, maybe you should repeat that back to me, just so I know you got it.
Noah: Okay, okay, look, allie here is an only child, so how about we take down the sibling brutality a notch? She’s not used to this kind of behavior.
Allie: Oh, no, no, no. Please don’t stop on my account.
[ Laughter ]
Sharon: You two.
Mariah: Alright, allie, why don’t you pull up a chair while noah’s getting the drinks? ‘Cause I think you’re somebody we definitely want to get to know better.
Victor: [ Sighs ] For victoria to go back to that scum…is absolute insanity. Sweetheart, if you and she would have come back from switzerland a day later, that idiot would have been out of genoa city for good.
Nikki: Well, she was determined to come home early. If I had tried to extend the trip, she would have left without me.
Nick: Mom, I know you did and said everything you could to try and get through to her. I mean, we all did. She just doesn’t want to hear it right now.
Adam: Well, I can’t say that I am surprised, but I feel for you. I know how worried you all must be. So if there’s anything that i can do, please let me know.
Victor: Okay, son. Thank you. Will do.
Nikki: You know, I wonder if you were right when you said this is just a game to ashland. I mean, is it possible he’s only pursuing victoria because he still wants the company?
Victor: Yeah.
Nikki: I mean, maybe he was caught off guard when she announced that she’s gonna quit and he’ll walk away.
Nick: If he does cut her loose, he’s gonna do it in the cruelest way possible. After she has completely alienated herself from everyone in the family, everyone who cares about her, far from her home, where she has no one to turn to.
Nikki: Nicholas, will you please stop talking that way? I cannot bear it.
Nick: Sorry, mom. Look, we’re all upset. We also all know how stubborn victoria can be, especially when she’s trying to prove she’s right about something. I’m worried the only person who is gonna convince victoria that ashland is bad news is ashland himself — after he tries to destroy her life again.
Victor: I refuse to let that happen. Baby, I assure you that I will not give up on our daughter.
Ashland: I guess I don’t have to ask how things went with your family.
Victoria: Pretty much how i expected, unfortunately.
Ashland: I just hate that you have to go through all this and that I’m the cause.
Victoria: Well, I tried to get them to see the bigger picture. It’s not whether or not you and I are gonna be together, but it’s whether I get to determine how I want to live my own life.
Ashland: Did any of that register?
Victoria: No, of course not, because I’m “not thinking clearly” and I’m “blinded by love” and I’m “ungrateful.” You know, it has never been more clear to me that my family has very little respect for me.
Ashland: Well, I’m sure this has a lot to do with how disgusted they are with me. They just can’t fathom that someone with everything you have to offer would settle for someone who hurt you so badly.
Victoria: It’s not that they don’t understand forgiveness. They just want to be the ones to decide who’s worthy of it.
Ashland: You do realize victor is not gonna let you go without a fight. This is far from over. We’re gonna have to be prepared for whatever comes next. -Fixed. -That’s my son.
“The young and the restless”
will continue.
Sally: Okay, your message goes into the text hall of fame for sheer weirdness.
Adam: I — I’m sorry for being so cryptic.
Sally: Okay, well, you said it was urgent. Here I am. What’s up?
Adam: Will you close the door please? Okay, this stays between us.
Sally: This sounds big.
Adam: I met with dad earlier.
Sally: About business?
Adam: About victoria. I wanted to make him see that ashland still has a hold over her, and even though she claims that they’re done, that she’s eventually gonna go back to him.
Sally: What did he say to that?
Adam: Well, he told me to knock it off with the wishful thinking.
Sally: Ouch.
Adam: Yeah, he knows I think she has lousy judgment and I’m ready to take her place.
Sally: Wait, you don’t think victor knows what we’re up to, do you?
Adam: No, no way.
Sally: Well, because if he finds out, it’s gonna look like you’re trying to knock her off of her throne.
Adam: No, it’s gonna look like I’m a damn genius because that is exactly what just happened.
Sally: Wait, what?
Adam: Victoria just called an emergency meeting, and she declared her undying love for that creep.
Sally: Oh, my god. Wait, so you’re saying our plan actually worked?
Adam: Well, I don’t know if it was our plan or the swiss spa or she just can’t get over ashland, but we are getting exactly what we wanted.
Sally: Okay, how did she explain herself?
Adam: Oh, she wasn’t apologetic. She wasn’t ashamed. She was mad at the family for trying to control her life, and she was actually talking about them just as much as she was locke.
Sally: Well, maybe she’s going back to him to rebel against her parents.
Adam: Well, could be, based on what she was saying. You know, she’s not a child and she can make her own decisions and you can all go to hell. I have to say, it was pretty badass.
Sally: Did victor lose it?
Adam: It was beautiful. It was beautiful. I wish you could’ve been there.
Sally: [ Chuckles ]
Allie: Henri cartier-bresson?
Noah: He’s one of the best photojournalists who ever lived. Dude’s an absolute legend.
Allie: That’s amazing. Oh, shoot, I got to go back to the abbots, but thanks for inviting me.
Noah: Yeah, my pleasure.
Allie: It was nice to see you guys.
Mariah: Good to see you.
Nick: Hi. There’s the lovebirds.
Mariah: Hi, nick!
Nick: Hey!
Mariah: Oh!
Nick: Oh, it’s so good to see you.
Tessa: Hi!
Nick: So how was the trip?
Tessa: It was perfect.
Mariah: I mean, it was the trip of a lifetime. Thank you so much.
Nick: I’m so glad.
Tessa: Nick, it was the ultimate. Thank you so much again.
Nick: [ Chuckles ] You had an amazing time. You made some good memories. That’s thanks enough.
Mariah: Well, we did get you a present, so you’re gonna have to deal with it.
Nick: Chocolates? Eiffel tower paper weight?
Tessa: Something much more practical.
Mariah: Way more practical because we got you your very own… beret!
Sharon: Oh!
Nick: My own beret?
Mariah: Yep.
Sharon: Yeah, put it on. I want to see it.
Nick: Yeah!
Sharon: Yeah.
Tessa: Oh, wow.
Nick: Crushing this look.
Noah: No, no, no, no, don’t encourage him. He’s gonna grow a cheesy moustache. I can see it.
[ Laughter ]
Nick: Thank you. I love it.
Mariah: We got this for christian.
Nick: That is so sweet of you to think of him. Thank you.
Tessa: Of course.
Mariah: And now I’m going to take my wife upstairs to rest, but it was great to see you all, okay? And we’re so glad that we’re back.
Nick: Glad you’re home. Thank you again.
Mariah: Of course.
Tessa: Bye, everybody.
Sharon: Bye, girls.
Tessa: Goodbye!
Noah: You know, actually, i should probably get going, too. I got some work at new hope to get to. Coming with?
Nick: Yeah, I’ll be there later. I want to talk to your mom — if you have a minute.
Sharon: Sure. Alright, I’ll see you later, honey.
Noah: Alright, I’ll see you guys later.
Sharon: Um…so are you okay? What’s going on? Why did victoria call that family meeting?
Nick: Well, my mom warned me. She called it. Vick gathered us together to tell us that she is taking ashland back.
Sharon: [ Gasps ]
Victoria: You know, you’re right. There is no reason that my father should — should handle this well. He never does. I think he resents the idea that any of his children want to strike out on their own.
Ashland: Yeah, well, he’s gonna resent it even more this time because you’re leaving with, you know, me.
Victoria: I predict that he’s going to direct most of his anger at you. So why give him the chance? Why don’t we just leave now?
Ashland: What?
Victoria: Where would you like to go?
Ashland: No, wait a minute. I thought you said you wanted to take things slow.
Victoria: Certain things.
Ashland: Well, this should be one of them.
Victoria: Not necessarily.
Ashland: Okay, okay. So I can handle anything victor throws at me. That’s fine, but I don’t want you to rush into this and then regret it later. Leaving everything behind, that’s a big thing. Are you sure you want to do that?
Victoria: Not only am I sure, I am so excited. We can start everything over from scratch, with nobody looking over our shoulder, nobody second-guessing us. Honestly, I can’t wait.
Ashland: Okay, well, let’s do this then. Where to?
Victoria: Well, if it were up to me —
Ashland: It is.
Victoria: New york. New york — you have friends there. You have banking connections. We can start a new business. We can create our own empire. We will be unstoppable. I can’t wait.
Ashland: I like this picture you’re painting. Okay. Alright, I’m ready when you are. I was actually packed yesterday, if you recall.
Victoria: I do, I do, and for me, it’s easy. I can just throw a few things into a suitcase.
Ashland: So am I calling the pilot, telling him to fire up the jet?
Victoria: Not yet. Before we leave, there’s something very important that i need to take care of. Daddy, is that where we’re from?
Nick: The more victoria tried to explain herself, the worse things got.
Sharon: Gosh, that sounds like a nightmare.
Nick: It was. It’s like this bizarre reverse intervention, and vick just gathered us all together to tell us that she’s resuming her addiction.
Sharon: Oh, nick, how awful. I’m sorry.
Nick: And it doesn’t matter what we say to her or how much we try and talk her out of it. It just made her even more determined.
Sharon: How frustrating. I can’t believe this is happening.
Nick: I tell you, ashland is a master manipulator. He’s brainwashed vick. She is turning her back on the people who love her more than anything in this world, and that is something she used to know.
Sharon: And poor nikki. Her heart must be broken over this.
Nick: Dad, too. I mean, he really went off on her. But I get it. We’re all just really scared for her.
Sharon: Well, how could you not be, given what ashland’s capable of?
Nick: Here’s what I don’t get. He claims that once he met her, you know, he became this changed man overnight. Victoria’s one of the savviest people I have ever met in my life. How could she be taken in by that? And it’s not just reconciling. She said she’s willing to run away with this guy and give up the ceo seat at newman.
Sharon: What?!
Nick: Yeah. It makes no sense. Unless she’s been brainwashed, like I said.
Sharon: Even when victori was stabbed, the one thing that kept her going — I mean, besides her kids — was getting well enough to get back to the office again.
Nick: You know, work has gotten vick through some really tough times in her life, and I’ve told her she needs to find something else that will give her purpose, some way to find some independence from dad. But this is not the way to do it.
Sally: So yesterday we were commiserating because the whole situation seemed hopeless and our plan to reunite ashland and victoria was a bust, so we were gonna have to come up with another way to show victor why you should be ceo.
Adam: And today victoria just waltzes into the office and she blows up her whole career, saving me the trouble. I mean, I should buy a lottery ticket. That’s the kind of day that I’m having.
Sally: [ Chuckles ] So, wait, if victoria goes through with this, will victor terminate her contract?
Adam: Oh, he won’t have to, because victoria quit.
Sally: Unbelievable.
Adam: She and her prince of a husband — or whatever he is now — are running off to a love nest somewhere.
Sally: Wait, so what does that mean? Who’s in charge? Nikki, or would victor step in?
Adam: I have no clue. But for now, I’m just gonna sit back and make some popcorn and see how this whole thing plays out.
Sally: Well, can’t argue with that. It’s an approach that’s been working pretty well so far.
Victoria: I need to talk to you.
Billy: Yeah, sure. I’m just preparing for the launch, so can we schedule something for later?
Victoria: No, because I won’t be here. I’m leaving town. I’m moving away.
Billy: What did you say?
Victoria: Congratulations, billy. After all the advice you gave me about finally getting out from underneath my father’s thumb, it sunk in. So I guess you were right after all.
Billy: Yeah, I find it very hard to believe that this epiphany had anything to do with me. Why don’t we sit down for a second?
Victoria: I thought you didn’t have time for a long conversation.
Billy: I can make time. So talk to me. What’s going on?
Victor: No one picking up?
Nikki: It goes straight to voicemail. What if she already left? I mean, she didn’t even tell us where they were going.
Victor: [ Sighs ] I promise you one thing — there is no place on this earth this bastard can hide from me.
Nikki: Well, when we do talk to her again — if we do — we have to be very careful, because she’s taking everything we say the wrong way, and that is ashland’s influence.
Victor: Of course it is.
Nikki: He’s playing on our insecurities. I mean, she has always had a need for you to be proud of her, and he is taking advantage of that.
Victor: And I have always been proud of her. I adore that girl. I promoted her and made her ceo of this company, for heaven’s sake. Put her in charge of my legacy. Paid that bastard $500 million for him to get the hell out of town away from her.
Nikki: Victor, none of that matters anymore. Don’t you see what’s happening? He could convince her to cut us out of her life completely.
Victor: Hell he will.
Mariah: How’s your throat doing?
Tessa: Well, I probably shouldn’t have talked so much downstairs, but this should do the trick. Thank you.
Mariah: I also snagged some scones from downstairs. I mean, it’s not the patisserie, but they’ll do the job in a pinch.
Tessa: Maybe later. Oh, I’m so spoiled.
Mariah: [ Chuckles ]
Tessa: How am I going to get used to living without this type of treatment while I’m on tour?
Mariah: I think you’ll manage.
Tessa: No, I’ve gotten so used to being around you all day and hearing you come up with excuses to say “my wife.”
Mariah: Uh, not always. In france, I said “ma femme.”
Tessa: [ Laughs ] You’re killing me.
Mariah: You don’t need to worry, okay? We’re gonna find ways to stay connected. You know, there’s love letters and video chats. And I promise, I will come visit whenever I can get away. Look, I know the honeymoon was magic, but our real life, it’s just as special. I mean, we have so much to look forward to.
Tessa: We do.
Mariah: Gosh, we’re gonna adopt a little person into our family. I mean…how amazing is that?
Tessa: I love you.
Nick: I mean, I want to victoria, you know, one-on-one, but I don’t want to make her even more mad than she already is. What do you think I should do?
Sharon: Well, first of all, victoria has made her decision. You’re not gonna be able to talk her out of that, so you can forget about that idea. And I don’t think that you should talk badly about ashland in front of her, even though he deserves it, but she’s just gonna take that as a personal attack on her judgment.
Nick: Well, it is.
Sharon: Yeah. Look, I know you’re upset, and justifiably. But when someone’s digging their heels in, there’s seldom anything anyone can do to help, you know?
Nick: Seriously?
Sharon: You know what I think you should do? Just promise her that you will be there for her, no matter what. If everything goes wrong and she needs an exit route, make sure she knows that she doesn’t have to be embarrassed or ashamed to come to you.
Billy: You’re not exactly a spontaneous person, so for you to uproot your life like this, there’s got to be a reason.
Victoria: I’m just tired of people weighing in on the nature and the quality of my decisions. That’s the whole point.
Billy: I can understand that. But, you know, we raise children together, so I feel like I have a vested interest.
Victoria: True, which is why I’m talking to you about it in the first place.
Billy: Okay. From what I hear, it sounds like your father might have something to do with this.
Victoria: I’m cutting ties. I’m — I’m leaving the company and genoa city and everything that goes with it behind.
Billy: So what’d the old man do this time? Did he derail a big business deal or is he forcing you to work with adam? What is it?
Victoria: I’ve just lost hope that he’s ever gonna stop trying to run my life. Which I’m sure you think took me a couple of decades longer than it should have. But better late than never, right?
Billy: Well, I don’t know. That depends.
Victoria: On?
Billy: Look, if this is really about you breaking free and living your life on your own terms, then I applaud that. I can get behind that. But if this has anything to do with ashland, we’re gonna have a serious problem.
[ Knock on door ]
Ashland: [ Exhales sharply ] Okay. Victor, I’ve been expecting you.
Victor: So you think it’s gonna be that easy? You’re gonna walk away with everything you want? Think again.
