Finn: Morning, beautiful.
Steffy: What time is it? How long have you been awake?
Finn: Long enough to get the kids dressed, fed and off with amelia.
Steffy: I slept through all of that?
Finn: Mm-hmm. We were quiet. Because you… my sexy wife deserved to sleep in after that very late night we had.
Steffy: Mm-hmm. And you were just able to get out of bed?
Finn: Yeah.
[ Steffy chuckles ]
Finn: I knew if I did, I could spend the rest of the morning alone with you. But… if you need to check on your brother first…
Steffy: No.
Finn: He’s still on your mind.
Steffy: It just doesn’t make sense. Why would thomas sneak off with sheila in an alley?
Finn: You can ask him in the office when you see him later… much, much later.
[ Thomas sighs ]
[ Phone ringing ]
Thomas: What!
Sheila: You don’t have to be so rude.
Thomas: Yeah, look, you’re worried that I’m going to tell people that, uh, you sabotaged brooke on new year’s eve but you– you gotta lay off.
Sheila: Yeah. Well, what worries me is when you use words like sabotage.
Thomas: What else would you call it, sheila? You were the reason that brooke got drunk that night, right?
Sheila: No one can know that, thomas. Especially your father. If he could blame her behavior on me, it would send him straight back to brooke. We both know you don’t want that.
Ridge: Numbers are good. I just think we can do better–
Thomas: I have to go. I can’t deal with this right now.
Ridge: Everything okay?
Brooke: What a beautiful dream. If only it were true.
[ Knocking ]
Eric: Brooke?
Brooke: Oh, eric!
Eric: I, uh, I came as soon as I could.
Brooke: Oh, you didn’t have to rush.
Eric: No?
Brooke: No.
Eric: Sounded like you were upset.
Brooke: Yeah, I just needed some company, you know?
Eric: Yeah.
Brooke: It’s good to have you here. I mean, I have hope here, and she’s been wonderful. She’s very understanding but I can’t keep laying this on her. I can’t keep making her feel guilty for all of my bad decisions–
Eric: Okay, okay, okay. Okay, okay, it’s all right. I’m here now. What’s this about?
Brooke: I let him go. Yeah, I did. I– I set him free, and I don’t know why I did that, eric. I don’t want that. I know I made a mistake so of course I tried to fix it, right? I– I practically begged for him to come back. Oh, god. I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’T. I just can’t lose him. I can’T.
Ridge: You havin’ a problem with someone?
Thomas: No.
Carter: Is there something going on?
Ridge: Yeah. Somethin’ you wanna talk about?
Sheila: Don’t tell ridge.

Steffy: As much as i want to spend the morning in bed with you…
Finn: You…?
Steffy: Can’T. Too worried about thomas. What the hell is he doing with sheila? I mean, maybe, maybe you’re right, he’s trying to protect our family, but I don’t know. I have a bad feeling. I need to know what’s going on. You know liberty mutual customizes your car insurance,
Brooke: This is why stephanie worked so hard to keep me away from ridge.
Eric: Yeah, well, she became your friend.
Brooke: Oh, eric, if she was still here, she would be really disappointed in me, just like ridge is. And I’m sure just like you are, too.
Eric: I’m not. Brooke, I’m not. Now, stop it. You’re making this very difficult for yourself. You’re taking all this, this pain and you’re making it worse with all this guilt!
Brooke: I know, I know, I– I have to stop replaying the past.
Eric: Brooke, I know that… I know that ridge is just– just as confused by all this as you are.
Brooke: You spoke with him?
Eric: He still loves you, brooke.
Brooke: I know that. It’s just. He’s not here.
Eric: You and my son share something very unique in all the world. It’s powerful, it’s strong. And it’s being tested right now. But it’s not broken. It never will be.

Thomas: If there was something that you could help with, I’d bring you in, but there’s really not.
Ridge: Right, well, I’m confident you will do what’s best.
Thomas: I just gotta figure out what… what that is.
Carter: That’s not a bad idea, right? Taking your time, working out the details.
Thomas: I’m just trying to see the big picture. You know, how all this may impact things in the long run.
Ridge: Yeah, I know you don’t want advice from your old man. But you know what? We don’t always do what’s right. But if you think that somebody can benefit from what you’re doing then it’s worth the risk.
Finn: Hey, when you talk to your brother, don’t forget what I said.
Steffy: Yeah, you and mom are already keeping an eye out on sheila. Thomas doesn’t need to do it, too.
Finn: He’s your big brother. All right? Being protective, it’s just in his blood.
Steffy: But why keep secrets?
Finn: Maybe he’s trying to keep the peace. Sheila’s my birth mother. A hard line with her, it might upset me. He just he doesn’t want you to get caught in the middle.
Steffy: I wish I knew what they were talking about in the alley. But I couldn’t hear them. All I could see was this intense body language.
Finn: Oh, what’s my body language telling you?
Steffy: Oh. Your feelings about me have not been a mystery, dr. Finnegan.
Finn: Haven’t been since I walked into your hospital room.

Steffy: You’re doing a very good job distracting me.
Finn: Well, I hope to always keep a smile on your face.
Steffy: Well, my smile keeps getting bigger and bigger. You say you’re blessed to be with me but I’m the one who feels lucky. I think about everything we’ve experienced together. Everything that lies ahead. It can only get better.
Finn: Yeah, you just wait.
Steffy: But it is tough to top our proposal and the wedding and the day hayes was born.
Finn: That moment changed me. The first time I held the two of you in my arms, I knew that there was nothing I wouldn’t do to protect you. You, hayes and kelly are just so precious to me beyond anything I’ve ever known. And I would sacrifice anything to make you happy and keep you safe.
Steffy: We are safe, and we’re so connected to you. We’re so grateful for you and… and our family. And that’s exactly what I’m gonna say to thomas when I ask him about his meeting with sheila. I’m gonna tell him there’s no reason to hide the truth from me.
Eric: You’re overwhelmed, I know. But I worry. I mean, are you… do you have any urges to drink again?
Brooke: No, no.
Eric: That’s good.
Brooke: Yeah, yeah it is. But that’s what makes that night even more confusing. I mean, look at me. I can barely hold myself together, right? But I don’t want a drink.
Eric: You want to prove yourself, don’t you? You want to show ridge how committed you are.
Brooke: Yeah. Of course I do. But– but I– I don’t have the urge. I don’t have that temptation. Not like I did that night, so it doesn’t make any sense.
Eric: You’re going to meetings, right? You’re getting a lot of support there.
Brooke: Right, I am. And I can understand how people could relapse. I get that. That’s why I know I need to be strong and I need to be vigilant and I need to work at it. But it’s really not a struggle. Not like it was that night when I had that intense urge to drink and why?
Thomas: So you don’t need to go to that meeting with carter?
Ridge: No, he’ll fill me in later. You okay?
Thomas: Yeah. But it’s nice to know you’re looking out for me.
Ridge: You can count on your mom and on me.
Thomas: Well, you can count on me, too.
Ridge: We’re proud of you. And if we seem concerned it’s because we want you to be happy.
Thomas: That’s what I want for, for both of you.
Ridge: Yeah. You and steffy made that very clear, you’re very supportive.
Thomas: Well, you know what? You– you, mom, steffy, everyone helped out when– when I was going through tough times. You didn’t have to do that but you decided to help. And… I want to make sure that I’m there for you in the same way. I want to make sure that you end up happy.
[ Knocking ]
[ Persistent knocking ]
Sheila: Steffy? Wow, what a pleasant surprise.
Steffy: I know, sheila. I know what you’re up to. Ready to shine from the inside out?
Brooke: I’m not shifting blame, I’m not. I did it. I take full responsibility, it’s my fault. I mean, I explained all that to ridge. I just– I don’t think he wants to hear it anymore.
Eric: No, no, no, no, he’s not, he’s not shutting you out, brooke. The connection, the connection’s still there.
Brooke: I need him to come back to me. And if he doesn’T…
Eric: Just don’t think like that. Look, I know. It– it feels like a lost cause but it’s not. I mean, he’s– he’S… look, he’s staying there with steffy, I know. And you know how committed he is to that family and– and how much taylor means to him. But you’re his soul mate.
Brooke: I just don’t know how to get through to him.
Eric: He still loves you. He’ll come back.
Brooke: Are you sure? Even after everything that I put him through?
Eric: You’ve lost each other before. You’ll find your way back together again.
Brooke: He is the love of my life. He is.

Ridge: You want to make sure I end up happy? What does that mean?
Thomas: You were there for me. You helped me through some tough times. I’ll make sure I’m there for you and mom and that you end up together. I want you to be happy and fulfilled. I’m saying you can count on me.
Sheila: How did you find me?
Steffy: It’s not fun, is it? Having someone show up at your door uninvited?
Sheila: It– it’s just a surprise.
Steffy: Yes, it is. So why don’t you clear things up for me?
Sheila: I’m not sure I know what you mean.
Steffy: Well, you told my mother that you changed. You’re not some conniving monster that you used to be.
Sheila: Because I’m not.
Steffy: Then prove it. Tell me that you’re still trying to make inroads with finn. That you’re still trying to win my mother over, infiltrate my family, that’s been your plan all along, right? My mother convinced me to have you over. Is that what you’re trying to do? Do you want one more time at my house?
Sheila: Your mother is a very kind, generous woman.
Steffy: I’m not as forgiving.
Sheila: Look, steffy, we– we– we both want the same things. I– I love finn. I want to see him happy. And I adore my grandson, hayes. I want what’s best for all of you.
Steffy: And what’s that? To get to know you better?
Sheila: For your father and mother to be reunited. Brooke has kept them apart for far too long. Your mother has been watching the love of her life being betrayed and taken advantage of. Taylor has a– a real chance with him now. I want that for her. I’m not the enemy here, steffy. You have no idea what I would do to bring your family together. I know you don’t want to hear it, but it is– it’s true. I already feel like I’m part of that. Finn is my son and hayes is my flesh and blood.
Steffy: You are not part of our lives. You never will be. You’re not our family. You’re not my mother’s friend. So you don’t get to have an opinion about her or my father. What you can do is leave. Stay away from my family. And that means everyone in my family, including thomas. That’s right. I saw the two of you in the alley behind il giardino. I was there.
