Liam: Hey, how’s douglas?
Hope: Oh, he’s fine. He’s reading a story to beth. Liam. I missed it. I’ve been so focused on my father that i didn’t even notice that my mother was struggling.
Liam: No, no. None of this is your fault.
Hope: She was all alone.
Liam: But she’s not anymore, right? I mean, she’s at a meeting with ridge right now, an open meeting. She’s getting all the help she needs. Brooke logan is a fighter. She’ll make it through this just fine.
Facilitator: Were you alone when you drank on new year’s eve?
Brooke: Come on, slug one
back with me, buddy ole pal.
It’s new year’s eve.
Deacon: Alright, alright.

[Brooke sighs]
[Typing]
[Notification rings]
Zende: Paris. Just the person I was looking for.
Paris: Yeah?
Zende: Yeah. I’m working on a new design and I could use your opinion.
Paris: Wow, this is the third time in two days. Maybe I should take up designing.
Zende: Yeah, I’d cosign on that. Listen. I want to tell you that I appreciate you and your honesty. And I have to admit that some of the things that you said on new year’s, they threw me. You know, you wanting to keep things loose and casual between us. I respect you being so straightforward with me.
Paris: Wow, thank you. I’m glad that you feel that way. You’re a really great guy.
Zende: Everything okay?
Paris: Yeah. I’m sorry, I just got a text from my mom.
Zende: Your mom?
Zende: Yeah, I wasn’t expecting it but it made me realize how much I miss her.
Paris: These texts from my mother are so random.
Zende: What do they say?
Paris: They’re just pictures of us together.
Zende: Wait, is that you? What are you wearing?
Paris: When I was little, we used to have these dress up tea parties and I’d throw on one of her dresses that was obviously too big for me and almost all of her jewelry.
Zende: Sounds like a classy affair to me.
Paris: Oh, and this one.
[Sighs] This picture is the last time we were together. She’s just got me thinking, with my dad and zoe gone, it’s hard not having family out here. I just really miss my mom a lot.
Mrs. Buckingham: I miss you, too, paris.
Paris: Mom?
Mrs. Buckingham: Oh, my baby. Oh, it’s so good to see you. Missed you so much.
Paris: I cannot believe you’re here right now.
Mrs. Buckingham: I’m here.
[Laughs]
Hope: I shouldn’t have left her by herself. The holidays can be difficult.
Liam: What are you talking about? We thought ridge would be there.
Hope: Yeah, well then we should have waited. Is it my fault that she fell off the wagon? Have I, by pushing too hard and too much to have my dad be a part of my life, did that cause her to stress?
Liam: Absolutely not, hope. There’s no way that’s what this is–
Hope: Well, then why then? Why did my mom start drinking again?
Brooke: I’m gonna make sure
you come nowhere near
my family, especially
steffy, finn and hayes.
[Brooke sighs]
[Brooke sighs]
Brooke: Yes. Yes. Yes. I was alone when I drank.
Facilitator: Thank you for sharing, brooke.
[Laughter]
Paris: Oh! You knew about this?
Mrs. Buckingham: Well, I wanted to surprise you.
Paris: Wow, so there’s no design that you needed my help with, huh?
Zende: Not at this moment. No.
Mrs. Buckingham: Oh, he is very handsome in person. He’s also very sweet. Thank you, zende, for helping arrange this.
Zende: My pleasure. Anything to make paris happy. Now I’m sure that the two of you have a lot to catch up on, so I’m gonna get out of here.
Paris: Hey. Thank you for this.
Zende: Of course.
Mrs. Buckingham: Wah! My baby.
Carter: Someone’s having a good day. What is going on, why are you all smiles?
Zende: I just pulled off a big surprise.
Carter: Yeah?
Zende: Paris, you should have seen her face. I mean, she had no idea it was coming. When I tell you it was priceless–
Carter: Zende, I have– I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Zende: What? Oh. Yeah, my bad. Duh! I’m still obviously super excited about it.
Carter: I could– I could definitely tell so what happened?
Zende: Paris’s mother is in town.
Liam: Hey, hey. It’s your love for your mom that’s making you blame yourself for her relapse but the truth is there’s nothing you could have done.
Hope: We could have taken ridge’s advice and moved out and alleviated any stress about my dad. And now, on top of everything, taylor is back in town.
Liam: What does taylor have to do with it?
Hope: Listen, I know my mom’s not threatened by her but I’m sure it adds some stress. And then combine that with my dad, maybe it was just too much.
Liam: Okay, but we don’t know that.
Hope: Well, then what is it then? Because I don’t buy that you’re just fine one minute and then pick up a vodka bottle the next. I don’T. I think someone or something pushed her over the edge. Something made her drink again.
Sheila: No one is going to keep me from a life with my son and my grandson. Especially not you, brooke.
Facilitator: What led you to drink again? Are you able to identify the trigger?
Brooke: Honestly, I don’t know. I haven’t had this intense desire to drink for a very long time. I don’t know what triggered it. And before, when I drank, I– that feeling, it didn’t come out of nowhere.
Facilitator: Maybe it didn’T. Maybe the desire’s more subconscious, something that’s been there, building that you just weren’t aware of.
Brooke: Maybe you’re right. But regardless, I am– I’m committed to my sobriety and I couldn’t do it without my husband. Very thankful for his support. And whatever it is that led me to drink, I just can never let that happen again.

Zende: Mrs. Buckingham wouldn’t have been able to get into the building without me. I’m telling you, the look on her face– she was so happy.
Carter: I bet.
Zende: And that’s all I really care about, making paris happy. You want to hear something crazy?
Carter: Sup?
Zende: I asked quinn to make an engagement ring for me. It was beautiful and unique, just like paris. I really love her, carter. I was going to propose to her on new year’S.
Carter: What happened?
Zende: I didn’t go through with it. I mean, I wanted to. I really do love her. But… I’m not sure how paris feels about me now.
Paris: I can’t believe you’re in L.A. One second, I’m texting you and the next you’re here?
Mrs. Buckingham: I’ve been dying to see you. And you are quite the rock star. I mean, I literally saw you singing at dodger stadium.
Paris: Yeah, that was out of this world.
Mrs. Buckingham: L.A. Looks good on you and you’ve accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. Feels like you just graduated from college and now you’re this key player for the forrester foundation.
Paris: Yes. It’s been really amazing.
Mrs. Buckingham: And you’re consulting for hope for the future? Yeah, I’ve been keeping tabs on you. All your hard work and passion to help others has really paid off.
Paris: What can I say? I have an incredible role model.
Mrs. Buckingham: Ah, I’m so proud of you, sweetheart, not just because of your accomplishments but because of the wonderful woman that you have grown into. I am so blessed to have you as my daughter.
Paris: Oh mom.
Mrs. Buckingham: Mm. So good to see you.
Hope: You know, you can say, “I told you so.”
Liam: Okay. A, I would never do that. And b, I honestly don’t think deacon had anything to do with this.
Hope: Well, you know what I think? I think that maybe I was being selfish, trying to insert my dad into everyone’s life and I should have been more sensitive–
Liam: No! Absolutely not. Listen, everything’s gonna be okay. Your mom’s already in a meeting. That’s like, that is a great sign!
Hope: I know. No, I’m– I’m– I’m really happy that she’s being really open about that night and… I’m grateful that she is getting help and that she is not keeping anything from us.
Brooke: Vodka?
[Sighs] What would I do without you?
Ridge: We’re in this together.
Brooke: I’m just scared, ridge. I have no idea what happened that night. I don’t know how I made such a terrible mistake.
[Shallow breathing]
Deacon: Morning sunshine.
Ridge: Hey. Where’d you go?
Brooke: Ah, I was just thinking about that night. I don’t ever want to relapse again.
Ridge: You won’T. I’ll make sure you won’T.
Brooke: Well, thank you. I don’t want to lose you.
Ridge: Lose me? You kidding? Come on.
Brooke: I don’t want to, ridge.
Ridge: For better or for worse, right? As long as we’re honest with each other, we can face anything. Come here. Do you struggle with occasional nerve aches
Carter: Listen, man, uh… I have a confession to make. I already knew about the uh, the engagement ring. Quinn told me. She was pretty proud of her work, said it was beautiful.
Zende: It is. I had it all planned. Dinner at paris’ favorite restaurant. I was going to propose to her there. And then I rented out this rooftop downtown with this perfect private view of the fireworks.
Carter: Wow, man.
Zende: We didn’t even make it to dessert before the night was over. She talked about being young and single. I mean, she’s not wrong. We never put a label on what we are but I mean, it felt like it came out of nowhere.
Carter: I’m really sorry, zende.
Zende: Maybe there’s competition. All that talk about not wanting to be tied down and having so much to experience. I mean, you’re friends with her. You talk to her. I kind of feel like there’s someone else. But if it’s not me, then who else could it be?
Paris: So how long are you staying?
Mrs. Buckingham: Wow. Anxious to get rid of your mom already, huh?
Paris: Not even. If I had it my way, you’d stay in L.A. Forever but I know you need to head back soon. What would the hospital do without you?
Mrs. Buckingham: Actually, I handed in my resignation.
Paris: What?
Mrs. Buckingham: I know–
Paris: You loved working there.
Mrs. Buckingham: I did. I do. But it was time for a change.
Paris: So now what?
Mrs. Buckingham: Well, there is another reason for my visit to L.A.
Paris: Oh?
Mrs. Buckingham: I have a few offers. One for the hospital down the street, in fact.
Paris: So you’re looking for work here?
Mrs. Buckingham: I don’t want to cramp your style but I wanted to see how you feel about me moving here.
Paris: That would be awesome!
Mrs. Buckingham: Yeah?
Paris: And if you need a reference, I got your back.
[Laughter]
Mrs. Buckingham: I missed
Paris: I missed you too, mom.
Mrs. Buckingham: So if you’ll have me, I am here to stay.
Paris: Well in case my, “that would be awesome,” wasn’t big enough let me say it again, that was awesome. Be awesome. I’d love for you to stay in L.A. Ah!
Mrs. Buckingham: Ah!
[Paris laughs]
Liam: Listen to me. All your concern is is a testament to what a wonderful, caring, attentive daughter you are. And if there were anything, anything at all to pick up on, you’d have picked up on it.
Hope: I just– I hate that this is even happening. You should have seen her, liam. She was– she was so hard on herself and she was scared. Like, her life was completely out of her control and she had no idea why.
Brooke: I’m gonna do
everything in my power to keep
you away from our family
and ridge will agree with me,
especially steffy,
finn and hayes.
Sheila: Oh, brooke. When are you going to learn to not push me?
[Clinking]
Ridge: Alright. That was the last of it. Bar’s empty. We don’t need temptation in this house.
[Brooke sighs]
Brooke: Thank you.
Ridge: Can I say something? You’re not only the hottest but you’re also the strongest, most courageous woman I’ve ever known.
Brooke: Ridge–
Ridge: Yeah, no it’s true. You could have found a way to hide this from me but you didn’T. You told me because you trust me.
Brooke: Yeah, but how can you trust me? How can you trust me when i don’t even know how i started drinking again?
Ridge: Well, it really doesn’t matter. It was a one time thing. It’s ove–
Brooke: No, that’s all it takes, ridge. It takes one time to relapse. And all of this hard work in recovery just to– just to start it all over again.
Ridge: Okay. It’s a disease. We gotta fight it and we’re all here to help you. We’re all here. I– I wasn’t here because I decided to leave at a– at a time like this. I’m–
Brooke: Don’T. Stop. Don’t blame yourself–
Ridge: No. You needed me here and i wasn’t here so I’m sorry.
Brooke: No, ridge, it wasn’t your fault.
Ridge: Well, you know what? I will never leave you again. What do you say to that?
Brooke: Good.
Ridge: Okay.
