Brooke: Something happened on new year’s eve.
Ridge: Tell me.
Brooke: I was drinking last night. Oh my god. We kissed.
Deacon: We did.
Brooke: Oh, I’m sorry, ridge. I feel so guilty.
Ridge: Talk to me.
Brooke: Oh, I don’t even know how it happened. I’m– I’m very ashamed. And when you find out what happened, you’re gonna be upset, too. But I have to tell you what I did.
Taylor: Okay, that sounds great. I think so, I might have a seminar booked for that time, but I will have my assistant–
Sheila: Alcohol free or the real stuff? Brooke is never gonna know the difference. I predict you’re going to have a very festive new year’S.
Taylor: Sheila?
Sheila: Yes.
Taylor: Where were you just now?
Sheila: Oh. I was just feeling hopeful for the new year for all of us.
Taylor: Well, that’s a– that’s a good place to be. Well, if there is nothing else, I… kind of need to get back to work.
Sheila: Yeah, of course. I do… want to thank you just one more time, taylor. I am– I’m dedicated to working on myself, really. I want to get help for whatever it is that I need to do so that I can be more involved in finn’s life.
Finn: I missed our morning kiss.
Steffy: So you drove all the way over here to make it up to me?
Finn: Those lips are worth every minute of travel.
Hope: Oh, sorry.
Steffy: Oh, hey. Hope, come on in.
Hope: Hi, I didn’t mean to interrupt.
Finn: No, you’re not. I’m– I’m the one keeping steffy from doing any work but, uh, happy new year, by the way.
Hope: Oh, you too. I hope you had a fun new year’s eve.
Steffy: We did. How about you?
Hope: Oh, it was– it was nice. It was an early evening.
Steffy: I know my dad couldn’t make it to celebrate with brooke.
Sheila: I’ve destroyed every opportunity that I’ve ever had with my other children, and I don’t want to loose finn too.
Taylor: You seem really determined to turn your life around.
Sheila: That’s because I am and that is the truth. Taylor… I mean, whatever I have to do to be a part of finn’s family, and I really feel that, with your help, I can actually show people that I am not that person any longer.
Taylor: With my help. Oh, sheila, I– I won’t take you on as a patient. There’s too much history between us.
Sheila: Of course, of course. Before I forget though, uh… I made this for hayes, and I was just… hoping that you could get that to him for me, right?
Taylor: Of course.
Sheila: I am so determined to be a good mother to finn and a loving grandmother to hayes.
Steffy: I can tell by your reaction, brooke was pretty bummed.
Hope: Oh, she– she’s fine, she was just looking forward to spending the evening with her husband.
Steffy: Yeah, but my dad had an important business trip. I’m sure brooke could understand that.
Hope: She gets it, she’s not upset with ridge at all.
Finn: Everything okay? You seem a little stressed.
Steffy: Yeah, did something happen on new year’s eve we’re not aware of?
Brooke: I don’t know what came over me.
Ridge: Logan… you’re my wife, we’re in this together.
Brooke: I was doing so well. I was so in control for so many years. And you were being so supportive. And now I need to– I need to face it, ridge. I slipped up. I relapsed, I drank on new year’s eve. Our strength, our power, our purpose…
Taylor: I want to see you make real improvements, sheila. You have A… a long way to go to… prove yourself. Whether you put in the work or not is entirely up to you. I want the– that is what I want though. I don’t like who I was and I want to transform myself. I do, I want to… I want to earn your trust and heal… old wounds. I am dedicated to becoming a kinder, more stable person.
Taylor: I hope you mean that, for everyone’s sake. Now, I am going to continue to be extremely cautious. Is there a chance that maybe in the future you will get to spend more time with finn and hayes? Possibly. But not now. Not yet. I may have opened the door for you just a little bit on christmas eve so that you could spend time with finn and hayes. But steffy and her husband have set very clear boundaries with you. And you need to respect their wishes.
Finn: I’m sorry things didn’t turn out the way you hoped.
Hope: Oh, it’s okay. Liam and I were grateful to get the kids to bed early. I just… I just feel bad for my mom.
Steffy: Okay, so he missed one. I don’t understand why brooke has an issue with it.
Hope: I don’t know, I just… I feel like something has been off with my mom since that night, but… anyway, I should get going, but it was good seeing you both.
Finn: You too.
Brooke: If you want your father in your life, that is your choice. But I can’t have him or his influence in mine.
Ridge: What happened? I was just so excited to be with you on new year’s, you know? I mean, after the year we had, I thought it would be really good for us.
Ridge: I wanted that too, more than anything in the world.
Brooke: And I’m not blaming you, ridge. I know… you wanted that too. I mean, I was disappointed I was, but I accepted it. At least I thought I had. Well, that’s when something just kind of switched inside of me. I don’t know why or– or how or– or why… I was drinking this non-alcoholic bottle of champagne, and I wasn’t even thinking about alcohol at all. And I was having a good time, you know, I was laughing and playing with the kids. And it was a wonderful night. It was nothing out of the ordinary. And then when everybody left… that’s what I felt it. I felt this… overwhelming urge to drink… real alcohol. And I don’t– I don’t even know where that was coming from, you know, I– I didn’t understand it, it just was overpowering. And I pulled that vodka bottle out and I– I opened it and I poured myself a glass and… you know, I didn’t want it. I wanted more and more and I wanted to drink it. And I just was– I just drank it.
Ridge: Okay. It’s okay. Doesn’t your family deserve the best?
Finn: Sounds like brooke might have had a more difficult new year’s, then we realized. What do you think that’s all about?
Steffy: I’m not sure. But I am surprised deacon was invited.
Finn: Yeah, me too. Although it doesn’t sound like it caused any problems.
Steffy: Yeah, that’s a firsT. I’m relieved we didn’t have any unexpected visitors.
Finn: Like my mom.
Steffy: I was wondering if your mom was gonna make an appearance on new year’s eve. I’m glad she didn’T.
Taylor: Perimeters have been set. You must abide by them, sheila.
Sheila: Oh. Yeah. Yeah, there are rules to follow. I know that.
Taylor: Good. That means no showing up unannounced, you.. can’t go anywhere unless you’re invited.
Sheila: Right, got it.
Taylor: You understand why there need to be constraints.
Sheila: Yeah. Of course I do, and I really can’t blame you.
Taylor: Sheila, if you could just see your life in its entirety, you would see the… the obsessive tendencies over the years and– and it always leads to A… pattern of troubling instability. Which I witnessed firsthand when you shot me. But I believe in recovery, sheila, for everyone. But you’re going to have to put in a tremendous amount of effort to become the person you want to be. Someone trusted. Someone who doesn’t hurt people.
Sheila: I will be that– that woman, but I thank you so much for having… faith and believing that I can accomplish that.
Taylor: Remember why you’re doing this.
Sheila: I do. I do know why I’m doing this. But the fact that you… that you believe that I can make those changes in my life, taylor, it really… speaks to your character, the person that you are, with your kindness and– and your– your compassion. That is something that brooke… would never have.
Taylor: Sheila, I am sensing a lot of anger towards brooke. I don’t want you causing trouble for anybody.
Sheila: Even brooke.
Taylor: You haven’t done anything to her, have you? Sheila, promise me that you will not lash out at brooke.
Sheila: I promise.
Brooke: Why did I drink, ridge? What brought this on?
Ridge: It’s okay.
Brooke: No, no, it’s not okay.
Ridge: You’re only human. It happens, we’ll deal with it.
Brooke: I don’t even understand what happened, I mean, what was going through my head?
Ridge: Don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s gonna be all right. I going to ask you something, it’s not because I want to upset you, it’s because I want to get to the bottom of this, the same way that you want to get to the bottom of it.
Brooke: I don’t really have any answers.
Ridge: You said deacon was part of the evening. Did something happen? The worst decisions of your life were because of deacon. Did he do something?
Hope: Mom? Ridge… what is it?
Brooke: It’s nothing, honey. Honey, I’m fine.
Hope: No, mom, there’s obviously something going on. What is it?
Brooke: I don’t want to worry you.
Hope: Mom.
Brooke: All right. I admitted to ridge that… something happened on new year’s eve. I drank.
Hope: You–
Brooke: Yes, I drank, honey, I slipped up, I had a relapse.
Hope: Mom, it’s okay.
Brooke: Honey… I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I brought in ensure max protein,
Taylor: Hello, ms. Ceo.
Steffy: Hey, mom. I’m so glad you stopped by.
Taylor: Oh hi, sweetheart.
Steffy: If dad were here, he’d like to say that he’s co-ceo but–
Taylor: Oh, okay, well, we all know who runs the place around here, don’t we?
Steffy: That’s true. I mean, if I’m going to be real, it’s granddad, but…
Taylor: You know, I just saw eric in the hallway. Honey, I love that you are working alongside your father and your grandfather and working with your brother. Oh, I have so many wonderful memories here at forrester creations.
Steffy: Yeah, well, it’S… it’s home. Especially now that my cute mama’s here. Look at you in this outfit.
Taylor: Thank you. I’ll have to come by more often.
Steffy: You should. And we could grab lunch now that you’re here for good.
Taylor: Oh, I would love that. Yes, and my treat any time. Maybe we’ll even invite finn.
Steffy: We could do that. Finn was actually just here. He had to run back to the hospital. Hope stopped by too.
Taylor: Really, well, that’s a busy morning. How is she?
Steffy: Yeah, I got a really… weird vibe. She seemed concerned about brooke.
Sheila: I am going… to prove to finn, steffy, taylor and everybody else that I am a changed woman. As long as no one finds out what it did to brooke on new year’s eve.
Hope: Mom, how… did this happen?
Brooke: I have no idea. Honestly, I… it’s really confusing to me, I wasn’t missing alcohol at all.
Ridge: I don’t want anyone to feel defensive, but I was asking your mom before you walked in if… if deacon was here when this drinking thing happened.
Brooke: Seriously?
Ridge: Seems that deacon is always around when bad things happen. Simple question was– was deacon here when you were drinking?
Brooke: I’m the only one to blame. I’m sorry. I’m sorry I let everybody down.
Hope: Mom, please, don’T.
Brooke: I risked everything and for what?
Ridge: Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Hope: It’s a disease, we know you don’t have a choice. We know you don’t want this to happen, but it did, and it’s okay because we love you and we’re your family and we’re going to help you through this.
Ridge: Sweetheart, we’re all here. You have all the support in the world.
Brooke: I don’t want to lose you.
Ridge: Why would you lose me? That’s silly.
Brooke: I’m sorry, I, um,
Hope: Mom, hey, you have nothing to apologize for.
Ridge: And nothing to feel guilty about.
Brooke: I regret it. I really do.
Hope: Hey, mom, we’re all human. None of us are perfect. We all– we all make mistakes.
Brooke: You have no idea.
Hope: Well, I wish I had stayed. I shouldn’t have left you all alone on new year’s eve. I’m sorry.
Brooke: So deacon is gonna haunt me. He’s going to haunt me forever. We’re going to need to just keep this a secret, okay? Forever.
