Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph
At the Brady Pub, Kate tells Roman that she just got an alert on her phone that the flowers they sent were delivered to Johnny’s room at the hospital. Roman says she didn’t have to pay for delivery since he’s about to go visit Johnny. Kate offers to go with him but Roman asks her to hold it down at the Pub since they are short staffed. Kate questions if that’s really the reason or if he just doesn’t want her to come.
Marlena visits Johnny in the hospital and mentions that Sami called while he was sleeping. Johnny guesses she was still freaking out. Marlena relates to having a child across the world. Johnny points out that he’s fine now. Johnny says it’s Chanel they should be worried about since she was up all night and that stress can’t be good for her or the baby. Marlena mentions speaking to Paulina and that she’s staying over, so Chanel is resting and is fine as well. Johnny says he hopes so, so Marlena asks if there’s something else wrong. Johnny admits that there is but it’s kind of private. Marlena reminds him that anything he tells her will remain confidential. Johnny then reveals that Chanel was already there for an appointment when they brought him in as she had a lump on her breast and the doctors are pretty sure it’s cancer.
Theo meets with Cat in the town square, they talk about Tony and Anna’s flight being delayed but they should make it in time for Stefano’s will reading. Theo thanks Cat for helping since he knows she got roped in as Stefano’s assistant. Cat talks about always finishing projects and admits she’s curious as to why Stefano changed his mind on EJ being his executor. Theo responds that he has no idea, but there is a letter that Stefano wrote that he’s supposed to unseal and read at the reading. Theo knows EJ is not thrilled about it and he’s not either since he never wanted to take on this role and he can’t wait until it’s over and done with.
Chad finds EJ at the hospital and asks if he’s been there all night. EJ asks where else he would be and if Johnny is awake. Chad confirms he is and that Marlena is in there with him now, so he decided to give them time alone. EJ thanks Chad for coming as he knows it meant a lot to Johnny. Chad says he’s just glad Johnny made it out of this ordeal in one piece. EJ says that’s no thanks so Sophia Choi.
At the DiMera Mansion, Kristen imagines a bloody Sophia appearing to confront her.
Cat tells Theo that EJ warned her Stefano’s will reading would be full of surprises. Cat asks if Theo thinks there’s anything new that will affect how the estate is divided up. Theo thinks back to EJ revealing Lexie to him. Theo then tells Cat that there is something that could affect everything, but he can’t tell her what it is.
Marlena tells Johnny that she’s sorry that he and Chanel are going through this. Johnny notes that she still has to get a biopsy to make sure it’s definitely cancer, but he’s done his research and Chanel being pregnant will definitely complicate her treatments. Marlena encourages there being so many new advances in cancer treatment and that Chanel is young and strong with wonderful doctors taking care of her. Marlena reminds Johnny to be optimistic and insists that Chanel will survive treatments while Johnny will be right there by her side. Johnny agrees to remain strong and optimistic for both of them.
Kristen argues that she thought Sophia was dead while her vision of Sophia tells her that she may have tried but the cold water woke her up and she swam to shore.
EJ tells Chad it’s a shame that Johnny won’t be able to see Sophia rot in prison and remarks that she took the easy way out. Chad argues that they are talking about a teenage girl who took her own life while EJ argues that she almost took his son’s life. Chad feels that doesn’t make Sophia’s death any less of a tragedy and says to think about what her parents are going through. EJ says as the father of the man that she tortured and tried to kill, he doesn’t give a damn and declares the world is a better place without Sophia Choi in it. Chad then remarks that he knows some people who would say the same thing about EJ. EJ argues that his son was almost killed yet Chad is grieving her loss and is lashing out at him for being relieved she’s gone. Chad argues that being relieved is a lot different than celebrating her death. EJ guesses he’s still furious with him because he still believes that he desecrated Abigail’s grave. Chad clarifies that he doesn’t think that and now realizes he might have jumped to conclusions about the pod found at the hospital. Chad knows they have fought over Abigail in the past, but he was there for him when he lost her, so he’d like to believe that if EJ found a way to bring her back, he’d want him to know. EJ assures that he would and he’s glad he realizes that now. Chad mentions that Theo kicked some sense in to him and said he didn’t think Abigail was in the pod. Chad then questions EJ acting antsy all of a sudden and what he thought Theo might have told him.
Cat questions there being something that Theo won’t tell her. Theo says he’s sorry but the will stipulates that he can’t reveal anything in advance to anyone.
Kristen continues to argue with her vision of Sophia about botching the job. Kristen questions why she’s here and what the hell she wants from her.
Roman assures Kate that he does want her to go, but Johnny’s been through a lot and he doesn’t want to upset him since Kate is not one of his favorite people right now. Kate then agrees not to go, so Roman thanks her for understanding. Kate says she does hate that Johnny thinks she had something to do with the plagiarism mess. Roman encourages giving it time for him to get over it because Kate’s like a grandmother to Johnny, so deep down he knows she would not set out to hurt him. Kate sends her best as Roman then exits the Pub.
Johnny talks to Marlena about being there for Chanel and brings up Chanel calling him while he was tied up and how Sophia declined it. Johnny says they knew Sophia was mentally ill but he’s shocked that she would do what she did and then take her own life. Marlena agrees that she never saw it ending like that.
Kristen imagines Sophia threatening to expose her for trying to kill her and Johnny. Kristen threatens to try again and says the bottom of the river will seem like a five star resort after she’s through with her.
EJ tells Chad that he was just curious who Theo thought might have been in the pod. Chad reminds EJ that he said no one was in the pod and questions if he’s saying Theo might know more than he’s letting on. EJ claims he does not include Theo in confidential medical research. EJ says he was cast out of the family business long before he saved the hospital from financial ruin. EJ adds that he’s off to check on arrangements for the will reading. Chad admits he’d rather be anywhere else, but he’ll be there.
Theo asks why Cat is coming to the will reading anyway. Cat says she organized it so she figured she might as well. Theo says he’s not saying she shouldn’t, but she’s gone above and beyond the call of duty already as EJ’s assistant. Cat admits that EJ has been very good to her and it doesn’t’ make up for what she did to his family by pretending to be Abigail. Theo says that was a long time ago and there were extenuating circumstances. Cat says she still caused a lot of pain. Theo says on the scale of evil deeds that his family has done, what Cat did barely registers. Cat respond that unfortunately, the Hortons don’t have that scale. Theo says his dad’s family is the same, but as a DiMera and a Carver, he’d say she’s alright. Cat tells him the same. Theo says he has to get to an appointment and thanks her for everything. Theo says he’ll see her at the house later and exits.
Marlena tells Johnny that she ran in to Sophia in the town square shortly after Trey’s adoption hearing and she tried to draw her out, but she was a stone wall and clearly upset. Johnny says it’s a shame she wouldn’t open up since he knows if anyone could’ve helped her, it was Marlena. Marlena wishes she could have or that the people at Bayview would’ve been able to. Johnny says part of him is sad because he knows it will be so hard for Trey when the time comes to tell him about his birth parents. Marlena agrees that it will be difficult. Johnny admits part of him is relieved that Sophia is gone and can never hurt he or his family again.
Kristen’s vision of Sophia pleads with her for mercy while Kristen warns that she made a big mistake coming here.
Roman goes to the hospital and sees Marlena, so he asks how Johnny is. Marlena responds that he’s doing better and thinks seeing Roman will lift his spirits. Marlena acknowledges that Roman came by himself. Roman confirms that he asked Kate to stay at the Pub as he imagined Johnny wouldn’t be really excited to see her which Marlena says is a good call. Roman adds that Kate does swear that she did not set Johnny up. Marlena doesn’t believe her and calls it a gut feeling. Marlena then goes to see a patient. Roman goes on to see Johnny and says he almost gave him a heart attack. Johnny jokes about staying away from homicidal death traps and thanks him for the flowers. Roman admits that was Kate’s idea, so Johnny calls them part get well soon and part sorry I’m suing you. Roman thinks they were meant to be a peace offering. Johnny says he gets it and clarifies that he’s not asking Roman to choose sides, noting that he doesn’t have any actual proof that Kate set him up and he understands Roman wanting to believe his wife. Roman then reveals that he’s not entirely sure he does believe her.
Kristen continues to envision threatening Sophia until EJ wakes her up from her nightmare. Kristen says she must have fallen asleep. EJ reveals that she was talking in her sleep and saying goodbye Sophia.
Theo goes to see Marlena in her office. Marlena is glad he’s been journaling but Theo says he hasn’t been keeping up with it lately. Marlena understands he’s been busy and it’s been a stressful time. Marlena asks if there’s been any change in Lexie’s condition. Theo confirms that she has made movements. Marlena calls that wonderful news. Theo says maybe, but maybe not.
Chad and Cat see each other in the town square. They wave to one another and Cat tries to walk away but Chad rushes up to stop her. Chad says they can always say hi. Cat says she heard what happened with Johnny and is grateful that he will be okay. Cat calls it still hard to believe that Sophia could do that. Chad asks how Aaron took the news. Cat says not well since they were close before he moved away and she told him not to blame himself. Cat asks Chad about his road trip with the kids. Chad says it was amazing and it was really nice to reconnect. Chad asks if anything new and exciting happened in Cat’s life while he was gone. Cat flashes back to kissing EJ but claims to Chad that her life was just not that interesting.
Johnny asks Roman if Kate said something. Roman says that Kate insists that she’s innocent and he wants to take her word for it, but he knows the underhanded things she’s done in the past. Johnny doesn’t want to cause problems in his marriage. Roman argues that if Kate did set him up, she caused the problem, not him. Johnny suggests tabling this for today since he almost just died which puts the lawsuit in perspective. Roman reminds Johnny that he’ll always have a room at the Pub if his apartment is still damaged and jokes that he’s sure EJ already offered him an entire wing at the mansion. Johnny responds that he actually hasn’t and guesses that’s because EJ knows Chanel would never want to live under that roof.
Theo explains to Marlena that Lexie hasn’t shown any other signs so Dr. Rolf is less optimistic, so she might not wake up at all. Theo wonders if Lexie will still be the same person if she does wake up. Marlena wants him to stay in the present. Theo asks how he’s supposed to think about anything else. Theo talks about all the times he wished for one more moment with his mother. Theo then says it feels wrong and asks what if she’s supposed to be with God instead of being pulled back to a world of people who moved on without her, noting that her coming back could cause so much turmoil. Theo hates himself for thinking this but part of him wishes none of this was happening at all and that EJ wasn’t trying to bring his mother back.
Kristen tells EJ that she can’t be the only one having nightmares about Sophia. EJ sees Kristen’s tablet was open on the article about the search for Sophia’s remains. Kristen says Sophia was Rachel’s friend and so young, so it gets to her that she was in such terrible distress. EJ mocks her and asks if Kristen’s nightmare was about Sophia killing Johnny or Sophia saying that Kristen put her up to it. EJ says one would mean she’s the caring aunt while the other would mean she’s a stain on the family’s honor, who has committed the ultimate betrayal by targeting her very own blood. EJ declares for that, Stefano would’ve disowned her in a heartbeat and would’ve made her pay with every last shred of her soul.
Theo tells Marlena that it’s a terrible thing to think or say out loud. Marlena understands his fears stem from a concern about his mother’s well being which is valid. Marlena thinks he’s given more thought about this than EJ has. Theo says he didn’t want EJ telling him so he didn’t have to carry the weight of all this. Marlena says they have time but Theo says he has to cut this short as there’s somewhere he has to be.
Cat tells Chad that she’ll see him at the will reading. Chad worries about it being a world war but says he’ll see her later as he walks away.
Johnny tells Roman that the doctor said he can head back to work in a few days. Johnny knows Roman was secretly hoping that he’d have a hospital epiphany like Theo did and resign as CEO of DiMera. Roman won’t deny that. Johnny says he might still get his wish since Tony is coming to town for the will reading. Johnny adds that Tony never wanted him to run DiMera in the first place and isn’t happy that he opened DiMera up to a lawsuit, so he’s a little worried that Tony has someone else in mind to run the company.
Theo tells Marlena that Stefano’s will reading is today and brings up Marlena being invited. Marlena says she respectfully declined. Theo wishes he could too and says he tried to put it off until they knew what was happening with Lexie since she would affect how the estate is divided, but the family just wanted to get on with it, so now he has to lie to their faces. Marlena offers to come if he’d like someone there to support him. Theo says that’s kind of him, but Abe will be there and he has to handle it. Theo declares that he will stay strong for his mom because that’s what she would want.
Kristen asks if EJ is suggesting she had something to do with Sophia trying to kill Johnny. EJ says he’s more than suggesting. Kristen calls that insane and asks where that is coming from. EJ says he’s been replaying a conversation they had where she blamed him for everything that has gone wrong in her daughter’s life. Kristen stands by that and says her beef is with EJ, not Johnny. EJ fears her view is that Johnny is collateral damage and calls it her sick and twisted way of paying him back. Kristen calls Johnny a wonderful, young man who she loves and respects so he’s making a ridiculous leap. EJ hopes so because if another hair on Johnny’s head is harmed, he’ll know exactly who was responsible and that treacherous psychopath will be dealt with the DiMera way. EJ then walks out of the room.
