And Elizabeth was able to stop me from completely eviscerating Ava in front of the girls, which only would have terrified them. Well, Elizabeth’s good in a crisis. She always has been. You know, in an ideal world, Willow, everyone would be honest right from the beginning. But that’s not what happens. People lie to protect themselves, and they lie to protect the people that they love. When all your choices are bad, sometimes lying seems like the best choice. In the beginning, the lie serves us, but then we end up serving the lie rather than living our lives. You’re absolutely right. I really, really do want to make her life easier. I just — I keep making things harder. Well, I’m sure it isn’t easy for you to watch her moving on. Not that long ago, I was — I mean, I was the guy who would brighten her day. Oh, Cody, you were more than that. You were in love. Willow was right there at the next table. If I would have told Cody the truth, she could have found out that Michael had been unfaithful, too. If that came out during Michael’s custody fight, he could lose the kids. I appreciate what you’re doing for Michael. I’m helping Michael because he’s my friend… and also because he has agreed to let me raise this baby on my own. Yeah, he made that part very clear. As much as I hate her, I have to do what’s best for my daughter. And that is really complicated and really stressful. And these are all the things you need to avoid before you have this surgery. I’m living at Wyndemere. Pier 55 is an interesting idea, but you’d have to get it past Drew Quartermaine, who at the present moment is doing everything he can to stop this project. Well, I’ve already spoken to Congressman Quartermaine, and he seems open to the idea of invoking eminent domain to claim the area. Moving the Esplanade to that location would put an end to the blight and criminal activities that dominate the area. [ Cellphone rings ] Oh, excuse me. I should get this. Yeah. A word of advice — Whatever this guy wants, just say no. I should have told Michael the first time I kissed Drew. If I had been honest, then everything might be different now. But at the time, my first impulse was to lie. So I did. No, I don’t think so. If I remember correctly, you wanted to tell Michael about the kiss, but Drew convinced you not to. It was my decision, and I made the wrong one. The truth is, Michael and I both kept things from each other. And I don’t want to do that anymore. And I don’t with Drew. I can be completely honest with him because I know he will always be honest with me. You were there for Sasha at a critical time in her life. You were the one who saved her. Yeah, I liked being the good guy in Sasha’s life. You know? I screwed up my own. Always in one mess after another. And lately, I have been on a tear. Yeah, you really have.
