Brooke: You really are certifiable, aren’t you? Taylor may have opened the door to you just a crack, but I’m going to make sure that I slam that door, I lock it and I throw away the key. I’m going to make sure you come nowhere near my family, especially steffi, finn and hayes.
Sheila: Taylor finally gives me a chance at a life with finn and hayes. And brooke, thinks she’s gonna take that away from me. Well, no. No, she’s not. I will put a stop to brooke.
Brooke: Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Welcome home.
Ridge: If I’d known I’d get this kind of welcome, I’d left work hours ago.
Brooke: Oh, well just wait, that was nothing. I’m going to give you the most epic kiss on new year’S.
Ridge: New years. Yes… about that.
Brooke: Ridge, we invited family here, remember?
Ridge: No, I do remember, but something’s come up. I have to leave town.
Zende: Beautiful. Just like paris.
Paris: Carter!
Carter: Paris. Hey.
Paris: I have the end of the year reports for the forrester foundation.
Carter: Cool. How we do?
Paris: You tell me.
Carter: It’s very impressive.
Paris: And that means a lot coming from you, especially since you’re my new financial guru.
Paris: Don’t forget, you volunteered to be my investment guide.
Carter: I did, didn’t I.
Paris: I’m expecting to have billions by the time I’m 30.
Carter: Billions? Okay , well, I– well, I better get on that, huh?
Paris: You got time. As long as the years don’t fly by as quickly as this one did. I mean, wow.
Carter: I know, right? Can’t believe new year’s eve is right around the corner.
Paris: Yeah. You got anything fun planned?
Carter: Not really. Probably just chill at home on the couch. Maybe even research some stocks and bonds for you to invest in next year.
Paris: Wow, that’s pretty wild.
Carter: Maybe even look up some upcoming crypto.
Paris: Mmm, now you’re getting really crazy.
Carter: What about you? I assume you’ll be with zende.
Paris: Well, um…
Zende: There you are.
Zende: Zende. We were just talking about new year’S.
Zende: Yeah, it’s all coming together. I actually have something special planned for the two of us.
Brooke: It’s a holiday, ridge. What do you mean you’re leaving town?
Ridge: Finn’s asked us to dress his whole family. We’ve been working on these gowns for weeks.
Brooke: Yeah, I know. But usually you have them shipped out.
Ridge: Usually. But he wants us to be there, so we’re flying out tonight.
Brooke: We?
Ridge: We. Me and… you. Just grab some stuff. Put some things together, come on. I want to show you off.
Brooke: Oh. So, you think I’m still good enough to show off, huh?
Sheila: Brooke, you talk like you’re so perfect. You’ve never messed up in your life. Boy, I know better. I predict… we’re going to have very festive new year’s eve.
Paris: All he’s told me so far, is that he’d start the night off with a quiet dinner at el jardino.
Carter: Can’t go wrong with that.
Paris: Yeah, it is pretty much my favorite restaurant in beverly hills.
Carter: I bet it’ll be hard to get a reservation, though. It’s new year’s eve. What am I talking about. You’re zende forrester, you have so much clout. They’d probably shut the restaurant down for you.
Zende: Yeah, I don’t know about all that. But I did make a reservation a few weeks in advance, just in case. Got us a nice candlelit table on the patio.
Carter: Then let me guess, you guys hit up the clubs. Get that vip bottle service.
Zende: Actually, I was thinking about keeping it a little bit more low key. And you go back to my place or yours, and… ring in the new year. Just the two of us. Sound good?
Paris: Sounds perfect.
Zende: Great, great. And that’s just a little teaser of what’s to come– I’m gonna shut my mouth. I don’t wanna give away too much. But trust me when I say that the night will be full of surprises.
Paris: Can’t wait.
Zende: Me neither. Okay, I’m gonna leave you guys to it. I’m late for a design meeting, but I’ll– come find me later.
Paris: Okay.
Carter: Zende is really looking forward to your date.
Paris: Yeah.
Carter: I wonder what he meant by full of surprises, though.
Paris: I’m not sure. I mean, honestly… I don’t know, carter, but I’m just not ready.
Carter: Not ready for what?
Brooke: We already made plans with the kids. And as wonderful as it sounds, ridge, I’m just not up for leaving town right now.
Ridge: You don’t have to do anything. You don’t have to lift a finger. We got the jet, we got the hotel booked. All you need is a toothbrush.
Brooke: All I need is a toothbrush. This is the biggest gala of the year– and I don’t even have anything to wear.
Ridge: Oh… if only you knew a designer. We’ve got a whole warehouse full of gowns. We’ll take 10, 20 of them. We’ll do whatever adjustments we have to make on the plane. It’s all done.
Brooke: You know how these parties are. They go on and on. Yes, they’re wonderful and they’re beautiful and they’re glorious. But… people are partying and dancing and drinking till sunrise.
Ridge: I will not drink a drop, out of solidarity to your sobriety. How about that? And if we really don’t like it or it’s too hard, then we’ll leave.
Brooke: That’s sweet. I do appreciate that. But it’s not… about just that, I– I was looking forward to spending time with hope and the grandkids. I’m sorry. I hate to disappoint you. And I think it sounds great, taking a spontaneous trip like that. But the kids were so excited. I told them I had all these activities planned and all these games for them to play. And they were so excited. They’re looking forward to ringing in the new year.
Ridge: Okay. It’S… I just was looking forward to taking a trip with you. You know?
Brooke: We will, you know. Maybe next time.
Ridge: Yeah. Can’t blame a guy for trying.
Brooke: I think you should go, though. I mean, he is really a good client, right? And he is one of your best friends, and… you spent all this energy making these… exquisite looks for the ball. So…. you should go. I just hate to think that we’d be apart on new year’S. Okay everyone,
Paris: Don’t get me wrong. Zende is a sweet guy, and he treats me so well.
Carter: Of course he does. He’s very into you, paris. Everyone can tell.
Paris: And I’m into him too. He makes me smile. We have a great time when we were together. I appreciate the way that he makes me feel.
Carter: I’m sure he’d say the same thing about you. Look, zende, he probably won’t admit it, but.. he was an emotional wreck when he got back from france. He was totally gutted by the falling apart of his marriage, and… I don’t think he was really looking for another relationship. Not really, and then he met you.
Paris: Yeah. We started off as friends, and then it progressed into this. I mean, it all felt so natural.
Carter: Now you’re the it couple. It’s like you guys are getting more deeply involved by the day.
Paris: I guess so.
Carter: What do you mean, you guess so? You’re invited to thanksgiving, to christmas. The forresters, they love you.
Paris: I know, and their support means the world to me. Seeing zende has been great. But… anything beyond that?
Carter: Anything beyond what?
Paris: I mean, look at me, carter. I am young and free and I’m an independent woman. Yes, zende and I have been dating, but… I’m not looking for anything beyond that. And I’m certainly not ready for some big commitment.
Ridge: I hate the idea of being away from you too.
Brooke: I know, but you have a work commitment and you don’t want to let your friend down. And I understand that. And thank you for understanding my side too.
Ridge: Of course, I get it. You don’t want to break a promise. You want to be there for the kids. You want… sparklers. They want all of it. Yeah. It’s going to be fun. We’re gonna probably celebrate in new york time, right? ‘Cause they’re not gonna stay up till midnight.
Ridge: You know what? Fall asleep around 10. Hang on a second. I’ll tell you what. I’m gonna talk to the frenchman, tell him that I need to be here. For new years with my beautiful wife.
Brooke: Oh ridge, you don’t have to cut your trip short.
Ridge: I don’t have to. I want to. I want to be here with you. That’s what we’re doing.
Brooke: Yeah?
Ridge: Yeah.
Brooke: That’s a wonderful compromise.
Ridge: Okay.
Brooke: I love it.
Ridge: I’m sure the prince will understand and everyone’s happy.
Brooke: Okay.
Ridge: Okay.
Brooke: Then it’s settled.
Ridge: Yes.
Brooke: Oh, there’s something that I wanted to tell you. I ran into sheila.
Ridge: Oh, fun.
Brooke: Yeah, it was fun. She told me that, uh… she went to steffi’s for christmas and that taylor invited her. I mean, what was she thinking?
Ridge: She told me the same thing, and, um… I’m pretty sure taylor had her reasons.
Brooke: Oh, really? What reasons?
Ridge: She’s trying to find out sheila’s mental state.
Brooke: Hmm. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that she’s crazy.
Ridge: No.
Brooke: That kind of person never gets reformed. So, when I ran into her at el jardino–
Ridge: El jardino? You got pasta without me? That’s not right.
Brooke: No, no, no. I went there to get a non-alcoholic bottle of champagne for new year’s, the one that eric served at christmas. It was so good. And I was gonna ask the bartender, but… deacon was there. Filling in for him when he was sick.
Ridge: Why? Why? Why do you have to– just stay away from deacon and sheila. If you want champagne, I’ll find you champagne.
Brooke: I know. I didn’t expect to run into her like that. And deacon told me that he had nothing to do with her. But I was very strong with sheila. I stood my ground. I told her as long as I was around, she was going to have nothing to do with our family, especially steffi, finn and hayes.
Shelia: Brooke thinks she could keep me away from my son and my grandson? Think again. Hi, my name is cherrie.
Zende: What?
Carter: So, what exactly are you getting at?
Paris: What?
Carter: When you say you’re not ready for a huge commitment.
Paris: All I’m saying is I’m digging where zende and i are right now.
Carter: Right. But you have the feeling he wants to get more serious.
Paris: I’m not implying that zende is going to propose to me or anything crazy like that. There’s no way. We haven’t been dating for that long. And he’s young too. He has a career. He has beautiful women complimenting in 24/7.
Carter: I don’t think he’s interested in anyone else, paris. He is more than happy and excited to be with you.
Paris: Yea his loyalty to me.
Carter: However…
Paris: Any girl would be begging to be in a relationship with a guy like zende. But I… simply just don’t want to progress this into something super committed. At least not for now. I’d like to keep it more casual. Does that make me a bad person?
Carter: Of course not. I do think you owe it to zende, to explain how you feel, though.
Paris: Yeah, you’re right. The last thing I want to do is hurt him.
Ridge: I don’t want you to keep worrying about sheila and deacon.
Brooke: Well, I don’t want to worry either. But I can’t let that woman anywhere near our lives.
Ridge: I get it. I agree with you. We gotta be protective of the kids, of our lives too. You just gotta be careful. That’s all.
Brooke: Thank you. You always make me feel safe.
Ridge: I have to. You’re my… hot, irresistible wife. Now, I don’t want to go at all. I want to stay here because I don’t want deacon and sheila just hovering around us.
Brooke: Oh, stop. Don’t worry about them. Just go and enjoy yourself, and you’ll be back before you know it.
Ridge: Okay. I will tell the pilot to get me here in plenty of time because I don’t want my wife to be alone on new year’S.
Brooker: Aww. Oh, I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful husband.
Ridge: I’ll be home before you know it.
Brooke: And I’ll be right here waiting for you.
Ridge: Yeah?
Brooke: Yes.
Sheila: Huh. Non-alcoholic is really not too bad. I’ve got taylor willing to give me another chance, what a wonderful woman. And brooke, on the other hand… you know, I hear the holidays can be really difficult… on alcoholics. Alcohol free or the real stuff? Brooke is never gonna know the difference.
