Steffy: It just doesn’t seem fair that brooke’s demanding that dad should just allow deacon back into their lives, like how can any good come from that? It’s just crazy to me. Like– what are we? What am I doing? Wait a minute, what? You’re here. You are here, my mom– my mom is here and I should just be enjoying this moment with you. I should be so grateful instead of just wasting time on brooke.
Taylor: Oh, honey, don’t worry about it, please. You are just, you’re just worried about your dad and his marriage because you are a kind and loving daughter. But honestly, I’m kind of worried, too, because you’re right, uh, what brooke is asking of ridge is not fair. It’s not fair at all.
Ridge: Deacon, come on.
Brooke: Don’t–
Ridge: You say you want to have a relationship with hope.
Deacon: I do.
Ridge: But that’s not the only thing you want, right? I think you’re delusional enough to think you’re going to have a relationship with my wife.
Brooke: You’re overreacting.
Ridge: No, no, no. I’m calm. I’m calm. I’m just– what do you want me to do? Keep my blinders on? They can keep plotting, he and sheila can just sit in that little hotel room.
Deacon: Yeah, I’m not– I’m not living with sheila, anymore.
Ridge: No? Then where are you living? Because you’ve got no money for an apartment, you have no job to get money for an apartment, so what are you doing? Teaching karate to hope? Is she paying you?
Deacon: Stop, I would never do that–
Ridge: Of course you would. You absolutely would. Sso what are you doing? Tell us the truth.
Deacon: You want to know the truth? I’m staying in a storage room in a bar, okay? I’ve got a cot crammed in–
Ridge: In a bar? That is perfect.
Deacon: No, it’s not like that, alright? They’re taking a chance on me. They– they hired me to clean, alright? I’m working. I’m not drinking. I’m working. So that’s got to say something, right? And you can forget about sheila because I’m not shacking up with her anymore. You want to know I’m sleeping with? I’m sleeping with a mop. Yeah, that’s right. A mop.
Steffy: It’s upsetting knowing dad’s going through this, it would’ve been different if–
Taylor: Uh-uhn. Choices were made. Can’t go back…
Steffy: I know. I know… I don’t suppose you want to talk to brooke and maybe just like, knock some sense into her? I’m just saying.
Taylor: I– talk to brooke? There’s a lot of people that I want to see while I’m in L.A. And my ex-husband’s wife is not one of them, so…
Steffy: I figured, but I had to ask.
Taylor: Yeah.
Steffy: So now that you’re back, who does dr. Taylor hayes want to see?
Taylor: Old friends. Colleagues. You know who’s at the top of my list? Your grandfather. I– eric has such a dear place in my heart. I can’t wait to give him a big squeeze, especially after hearing everything that he’s been going through. Did quinn really have an affair–?
Steffy: Don’t even get me started.
Taylor: I just, I don’t know. I have such fond memories of my time with stephanie, we were so close. And then your grandmother was so special to me. For him to go from her to quinn.
Steffy: Yeah, and& nobody understands it.
Taylor: I feel for him.
Steffy: It’s a really bad time for the forrester men. Granddad putting up with quinn’s behavior and dad putting up with brooke’s? I don’t know which is worse.
Brooke: Ridge, don’t make deacon feel bad.
Ridge: Are you kidding me right now? Really?
Brooke: He’s trying to better himself. He’s got a job.
Ridge: He’s got a job at a bar so he can– when he gets all drunk, he can sleep on a cot so he doesn’t have to look for his park bench. That’s not betterment.
Brooke: No, no, that’s not what he is–
Deacon: Brooke, it’s okay. You don’t have to defend me.
Brooke: No, somebody has to defend you. You just got out of prison. You want a relationship with your daughter and you don’t need to explain about your job.
Deacon: I didn’t come here to cause problems.
Ridge: That is what you came here. That’s your master plan.
Deacon: No, my only plan is to teach hope some more karate, today, alright? Look, I’m going to excuse myself. I’m going to go down to the cabin before this gets any more heated. This doesn’t need to get out of hand.
Brooke: Thank you, deacon.
Deacon: Yeah.
Ridge: Wow, “thank you, deacon.” Nice–
Brooke: Ridge, come on.
Ridge: No, you come on. What are you thanking him for? For walking in this house whenever he wants to? Why do you not see what I see? He’s playing you.
Hey! It’s me! Your dry skin!
Deacon: Alright, you ready for this?
Hope: Been looking forward to it.
Deacon: Okay. Uh, should we move some furniture?
Hope: Well, the weather’s so nice. Do you want to go outside and we can maybe go up to the terrace?
Deacon: Uh, okay. Uh, just a heads up: Your mom’s at the house with ridge. Things are a little tense.
Hope: Good to know.
Taylor: Oh, it was shocking enough to hear over the phone. I can only imagine what it was like in person, finding out that sheila was finn’s birth mother.
Steffy: Exactly why I don’t want you apologizing anymore for missing the wedding. I would have hated putting you through that, going face to face with sheila? Are you kidding?
Taylor: Ugh. Kay, let’s just not talk about that anymore, or that awful time in my life. Let’s just talk about positive things like memories, childhood memories. When you were, when you were younger, when your sister was alive. Grandmother. God, stephanie, stephanie was always such a big support system for me back then. And, stephanie, you know, she definitely saw through brooke, she saw her for who she was.
Steffy: Yeah.
Taylor: And she tried like hell to stop her, keep her away. Oh, I miss her.
Steffy: I do, too.
Taylor: You know, she– she would be so proud of you. Oh, honey, she would be so proud. I could just see her. She’s the, you know, the overly doting great grandmother.
Steffy: Ugh, right? I wish kelly and hayes could have known her. What?
Taylor: Mm. Nothing. No, it’s– I– I’m not sure that I am worthy of having a grandson named after me.
Steffy: Are you kidding? Mom, from personal experience, I know what an honor it is to be named after your grandmother.
Taylor: Okay.
Steffy: And hayes gets to grow up learning about you. And knowing that you help so many people, so many people around the world.
Taylor: Well, I love my job but I might love being a mom just a little bit more.
Steffy: I know the feeling.
Taylor: I am so happy to see you like this. So, so fulfilled with finn, beautiful family. Finn is a great find, steffy. And– and nothing against liam. But, I am so happy that you walked away, and gotten out of that situation, that dysfunctional thing with him and hope. That took a lot of strength. I am– I am so proud of you. My strong…
Steffy: Ah, mom…
Taylor: Talented… daughter. I’m so proud and happy of this lovely life that you’re creating. Look at you. It’s wonderful.
Steffy: I’m grateful. Really, really grateful. I’m even more grateful now that you’re here. Gosh, I, yeah. I– I want to stay.
Deacon: Okay, today, I’m going to teach you something really special. It comes from the far east. It’s called the five finger death technique.
Hope: Really?
Deacon: No, I made that up.
Hope: Dad.
Deacon: We’re gonna drill kicks, alright?
Brooke: I don’t wanna argue about this anymore, ridge.
Ridge: Oh, you think I want to argue about it? I don’T.
Brooke: Hey, hey, look, if deacon hurts hope in any way at all, he will be the first to go. I will kick him out, I promise you that. But in the meantime, let’s just give him a chance, okay? I love you. I don’t want to upset you. But deacon is hope’s father and he’s back. And taylor’s back.
Ridge: You’re not comparing the two, right? Because you can’T.
Brooke: Well, I can. I have a child with deacon and you have children with taylor. You have issues with deacon. I have issues with taylor. And they both are back in town right now.
Ridge: Yeah– yeah, but taylor comes and goes because she’s helping people all over the world. He’s here because he just get out of prison!
Brooke: Yeah, she comes and goes, alright.
Ridge: What does that mean? Well, when she goes, she tends to leave us to deal with the family issues, like with the grandchildren and with the children.
Ridge: Well…
Brooke: I mean, where was she, ridge, when thomas was first having his issues? What about when steffy was taking pills? And then when caroline died and left douglas, my daughter had to step in and had to take care of her grandchild.
Ridge: And that’s something we should revisit anyway.
Brooke: Excuse me?
Ridge: Thomas is better. It’s his kid. He should be the prime caregiver.
Brooke: Is this taylor talking right now, or is this you?
Ridge: What?
Brooke: Oh my god, you’ve been speaking with taylor. She’s brainwashed you, ridge!
Ridge: The only brainwashing going on around here is done by deacon. And it worries me. Look at me. It worries me a lot. Hi susan! Honey?
Steffy: You know what is so crazy? Mother and daughter are both losing our husbands to a logan.
Taylor: Stolen by. That’s the logan way.
Steffy: Yeah, that’s what they do. They play like damsel in distress, whether it’s like the perfectly timed giggle or the tear down the cheek and the men just fall for it! Liam fell for it. Dad fell for it. Not that I’m complaining because I’m very fulfilled, I’m happy in my relationship with finn. And I’m genuinely happy for hope and liam, I just find it interesting.
Taylor: Are you, though? Are you really happy for liam and hope?
Steffy: I am, for the most part. I feel bad for liam– being married to hope means that he has to deal with deacon. But again, that’s what the logans do. They always think for themselves. Here we have liam who’s upset and frustrated but hope doesn’t care. All she cares about is having a relationship with deacon. And liam’s upset. And so is dad. Dad’s frustrated because he has to deal with brooke and brooke is defending her daughter.
Taylor: The logans do tend to stick together…
Steffy: At the expense of everyone else.
Taylor: And this time looks like your father’s paying the price.
Ridge: Oh, honey. Oh, it is becoming very clear to me that you’re not going to listen to my concerns.
Brooke: Concerns about a man who’s doing all that he can to prove that he’s changed.
Ridge: Proved that he’s changed? How has he changed? How? The only thing that’s different is that now he’s walking in here and he’s welcomed by you. And he walks in any time he wants!
Brooke: Ridge, don’t make this a big deal, please. He’s down there teaching hope karate, today. That’s why he’s here. And I think you would see the benefit in that because hope can learn how to defend herself and protect herself, since at one time, she was a victim.
Ridge: Really, you’re gonna do that? You’re gonna dig at thomas? That’s not fair. It’s not nice at all. If she wants to learn karate, go anywhere in the valley– there’s 100 places where you can learn how to do karate. You don’t need some ex-con hanging out with sheila teaching you how to do it.
Brooke: He’s not hanging out with sheila.
Ridge: He’s no? And you know that, why? Because he told you and that’s it? You believe it.
Brooke: And why shouldn’t I believe him? I think he’s harmless.
Ridge: He’s harmless? What can I do? How do I protect you? How do I protect hope?
Deacon: Wow, they’re really going at it. I didn’t want this.
Ridge: She needs to do it somewhere else. It can’t be here. I can’t deal with it.
Brooke: Look. We need to find a way to get through this, ridge. All of us together, as a family.
Ridge: That’s all I’m trying to do is to get through this as a family, with you, but you don’t listen to me anymore. You don’t listen to me at all. What do I do? Keep walking out? And I’m going to do it again because I don’t know what to say to you anymore. I’m gonna go for a drive, get some air.
Hey! It’s me! Your dry skin!
Steffy: You’re right. Dad’s the one paying the price. Basically drowning over at brooke’S. I think he needs our help.
Taylor: No. No! No, he’s just– it’s not our place–
Steffy: Mom… mom–
Taylor: I hear you, it’s–
Steffy: Mom. He needs you. I know you’ve moved on. You put him behind you and I know it wasn’t easy but it is written all over your face. Anyone could see that you still have feelings for him.
Taylor: Well, of course, I do. He’s the love of my life, steffy. He always will be.
Steffy: Mom.
Taylor: I know.
[Brooke sighs]
Hope: Mom.
Brooke: Oh, hi, honey. How was your workout? Did you have fun?
Hope: We did, but um… we couldn’t help but overhear. Look, it’s– it’s okay if…
Brooke: Yeah.
Hope: If you want to talk about it.
Brooke: Uh I just hate this, you know? Arguing with ridge like this.
Hope: I’m– I’m sorry, mom.
Deacon: I hate to see her like that.
Deacon: I– I’m the problem, I should go.
Hope: No, no, dad. I don’t– I don’t want you going anywhere. I hate that ridge and my mom are at odds. And it’s because of me, wanting a relationship with you. I just– I have to have faith that their love will get them through this.
I look into the distance
[Phone dials]
And see a great beyond there’s a home with so much promise–
Ridge: Hey, I’m not here to take your call. Leave a message and I’ll call you back.
I’m not sure how we lost–
Brooke: Oh, god.
But some might say just let it be because our lives are meant for someone else you were never meant for me I just can’t accept defeat what we shared ’til now is not complete should have been forever you and me together but you were meant for me so to think the end is near only makes me want you here ’cause I know that we belong I just can’t accept defeat what we shared ’til now is not complete to think the end is near only makes me want you here ’cause I know that we belong
