Eric: We have so much to celebrate here today.
Thomas: You didn’t think this was gonna be some run-of-the-mill Fourth of July party, did you?
Ridge: We didn’t think you were gonna bring your own fireworks, so thank you.
Eric: Yeah. Well, once again, another toast. To Thomas and Paris. We’re very happy for you.
Ridge: Thomas and Paris. Cheers.
Carter: There ya go.
Paris: Cheers.
Eric: It’s nothing. [phone chime]
Thomas: Oh… Looks like– that Douglas is having such a great time with Steffy.
Paris: Oh, that’s so good. Oh, he was talking about how much he missed them. I’m so happy that Steffy allowed him to be a part of their little family day.
Thomas: Yeah, me too.
Donna: You know what? I was actually gonna go and join Luna and RJ. Does anyone wanna join me for swimming?
Paris: I could be talked into that.
Eric: Let’s give them a few more moments together. All right? Just alone, in a big, beautiful private pool? Young love. We all remember that.
Ridge: Oh, we do remember that.
Eric: See?
Brooke: You know what I remember? I remember those really skimpy little bathing suits you used to wear.
Ridge: Oh, you’re welcome.
Eric: Yeah, I think there’s another uniform a little more appropriate for the… the future here. And that’s a suit and tie, appropriate for the father of the groom. To Thomas and Paris. Another wedding in the Forrester family home. Cheers.
Ridge: Cheers.
[soft chatter]
Eric: Okay, where are they? In the kitchen?
Brooke: I don’t know. ♪♪ ♪
Paris: Thank you.
Carter: Congratulations, again.
Thomas: Thanks.
Carter: Especially you, Paris, it’s, um… it’s everything I wanted for you. After… everything. It’s good to see you so happy.
Paris: Very happy. Thank you, Carter.
Thomas: [chuckling]
Paris: [sighing] ♪♪
[laughter]
Brooke: You okay, sweetheart?
Donna: Because we all know the truth.
Eric: What truth is that?
Eric: Okay, so here’s what we gotta do, all right? Usually we have people standing here and… oh!
Ridge: Okay?
Eric: So what do you think? I mean, we’ve done this so many times here. Usually it’s the bride is there, and the groom is here, and Carter is in the middle. Is Carter doing this with you?
Paris: …a good question.
Eric: Did you ask him yet?
Paris: Thomas? You wanna–
Thomas: Uh, yeah. What’s up?
Paris: Your grandfather wants to talk logistics with us.
Eric: Yeah, I think we need to start planning this thing.
Eric: Yeah.
Thomas: Okay, well, then let’s get planning.
Eric: Okay. Now, I was just saying, instead of just standing here like we always do, maybe… ♪♪
Brooke: Hope?
Hope: Oh.
Brooke: You don’t have to be here, honey. Everybody would understand.
Hope: No, I can handle it. I can. It’s just… oh, I don’t understand why Thomas had to blindside me with it.
Brooke: I know, I’m sorry. I can see this is difficult for you.
Hope: I mean, it’s just that none of this is making sense to me. Why he had to rush in to another relationship so soon, and that they’re engaged. I mean, how is that a good idea? How is that good for our son?
Brooke: Okay… seeing how you’re reacting and your emotion… I have to ask… are you second guessing things? Do you wish you said yes to Thomas’s proposal? ♪♪ ♪♪
Carter: I don’t know if you guys discussed who might officiate your wedding, but I know you both pretty well, and I know what you’ve overcome to be here. So it’d be my honor to marry you.
Thomas: Uh, well, thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, we just– we just got started, so… we have no idea where we’re going with this, but we’ll keep that in mind.
Paris: Yeah, just getting started is an understatement. I didn’t even realize we were getting married here until you asked Eric about it earlier.
Thomas: You don’t think I overstepped, do you?
Paris: No, no-no-no, not at all, this was a great idea.
Thomas: Okay, good. Good. I mean, I don’t care where we get married. I just want you to have the wedding you always dreamed about, that you fantasize about.
Paris: Well, that’s easy. And already accomplished. Because my wedding daydreams, I never thought about the flowers or the dress or the location or even the officiants. [laughing] What I thought about, when it comes to having a wedding, what I really want is just to feel safe and secure and really extremely connected to my groom, and Thomas, you’ve already given me that. So, where we get married doesn’t matter much to me. But if it’s gonna be at one of the most beautiful estates in Los Angeles, I absolutely cannot say no to that. Or to you. ♪♪
Eric: Well, it may be a fast engagement, but one thing’s obvious. I mean, Paris is glowing. I mean, she’s… absolutely in love with him.
Ridge: And he loves her.
Donna: So you, um… asked him about that?
Ridge: Yeah, but I mean, you heard what Dad said, that this whole engagement was too fast, I couldn’t just take it at face value.
Donna: Uh-huh, of course. Of course, because we all know how Thomas feels about Hope.
Ridge: How Thomas felt about Hope. They’re always gonna have a relationship. They share a son together.
Donna: Ridge. We all know that their feelings go deeper than just being parents to Douglas.
Ridge: I guess, I mean I realize some of that, sure.
Donna: Sorry. Okay. I just, I just, I really feel for Hope, especially when he announced that he wants to get married right away.
Eric: That was a shock. It’s gonna be a big blow for Hope.
Donna: Yeah, especially since Thomas and Hope… they’re still in love. ♪♪
Hope: Do I wish I had accepted?
Brooke: Despite my objections, I know you developed real feelings for Thomas.
Hope: Yeah, those feelings are still there. And they’re on Thomas’s side, too.
Brooke: I’m sorry, honey. You shouldn’t have to be here witnessing this. I know it was a shock to even find out about their engagement, and everybody seems happy for them. And Thomas is announcing getting married to Paris here in the family home.
Hope: That was a surprise.
Brooke: So, is that a yes? You do regret saying no to Thomas’s proposal? I mean, he did ask you twice, and you turned him down twice.
Hope: I wasn’t ready.
Brooke: I know, and I respect you for that. You were listening to your heart and to your feelings, and that’s good. But I have to wonder, if Thomas were to hand you a ring now and propose to you, what would you do? Knowing what you know now, would you say yes?
Hope: I don’t think it matters what I would say, because the woman that Thomas proposed to, the woman that he wants to marry here in this house, it isn’t me. It’s Paris. ♪♪
Hope: Thank you for being here for me.
Brooke: Of course.
Hope: Just, I had to get out of there. You don’t think I made too much of a scene, do you?
Brooke: No, no.
Hope: People just focused on the happy couple, right? The way it should be.
Brooke: Oh, honey.
Hope: I just, I don’t understand it, Mom. I mean, Thomas didn’t even allow himself to grieve our relationship, and now he’s engaged. No, sorry, not only engaged, they’re– they’re full-on in wedding planning mode, and it just, um… it is too much. Oh, gosh, I… I have to say something.
Brooke: Uh, wait. I think you should just give yourself a chance to calm down before you go talk to him.
Hope: Look, I can’t leave this party, I need– I need to talk to Thomas alone. He– He needs to hear what I have to say.
Brooke: Hope! [sighing] ♪♪
Ridge: All right, hi.
Thomas: Hi.
Ridge: How’s it going? Are you guys gonna come down to the pool? Because I think my dad and Donna are already splashing away.
Thomas: Yes, we are.
Paris: Yes, I’m trying to, but Thomas keeps distracting me.
Ridge: Okay.
Thomas: She’s a little distracting.
Ridge: Yeah. No, no, no. It’s… I will leave you. Just make– make it down there eventually. Would you, please?
Paris: Yes.
Thomas: Promise.
Ridge: Okay. All right. I’m sorry. One more thing. I, um… I couldn’t be happier for the two of you. That’s it.
Thomas: Thanks, Dad.
Paris: Thanks, Ridge. [laughing] Aw, he’s sweet.
Thomas: Yeah, he needs to drink more water.
Paris: Yeah, that, too. [laughing] He seems really happy for us.
Thomas: Yeah, he does.
Paris: That is something that I can’t get enough of saying.
Thomas: That there’s an us?
Paris: Yes, exactly.
Thomas: Yeah. It’s a good thing.
Paris: And even better, we get to be an “us” for the rest of our lives.
Thomas: Mmm. Yeah.
Paris: Oh, my goodness. I can’t wait to make this official, Thomas. I cannot wait to be your wife.
Thomas: Mmm. Hmm.
Paris: But first…
Thomas: Yeah?
Paris: Pool time.
Thomas: Okay, yes. I will be down there in just a minute.
Paris: Right.
Thomas: All right.
Paris: Bye.
Thomas: Bye. [chuckling] ♪♪ [sighing]
Ridge: Hey, you.
Brooke: [exhaling]
Ridge: Mm. How’d it go with Hope?
Brooke: Oh, not great. She’s hurting. I mean, I don’t blame Thomas for wanting to move on with his life and be happy… but it’s painful for her to hear him talking about his wedding.
Ridge: Yeah, I get that. I’m sorry. Didn’t have to be this way. She turned him down. ♪♪
Thomas: You said you needed more time, but I think we’re ready. I think we’re very, very ready. It’s time… for you to take this ring, put it on your finger. I don’t want to wait anymore. So, Hope… say you’ll make me the happiest man in the world. Say you’ll be my wife.
Hope: I love you. Thomas… I really do. But I… I can’t accept your proposal, I’m… I’m not ready.
Hope: Thomas? I was… hoping to catch you alone. Where’s Paris?
Thomas: She’s out by the pool. Um… I could tell you were hurt earlier, and I think with all the wedding talk, it’s just… I hate seeing you upset.
Hope: Okay, so then don’t go through with this. Please, Thomas, don’t marry Paris. ♪♪ So she was right to say no. Absolutely. But that’s the choice she made. It’s a choice she has to live with, and she has to accept that Thomas is moving on with his life.
Brooke: In time, I’m sure she will. But the way Thomas is moving so quickly–
Ridge: He’s not doing any of this to hurt Hope. Honestly. [sighing]
Brooke: I asked her if she had any regrets.
Ridge: What’d she say?
Brooke: She said it doesn’t matter now. Thomas is engaged to Paris.
Ridge: Okay, but that’s not– what if he wasn’t? If he asked her right now, did this whole thing jar her into thinking that she should be married? What would she say if he asked her right now? ♪♪
Paris: Hey, sorry.
Ridge: Hey.
Paris: I thought Thomas should already be at the pool by now.
Ridge: Is he not?
Paris: No. Have you seen him?
Thomas: I don’t know why you’re bringing this up again.
Hope: [scoffs] I mean, after all– all of that, of course I am, Thomas. I am begging you to please just slow down for a minute. Stop and think, I mean… to go from proposing to me, and now you’re suddenly planning a wedding?
Thomas: Yeah, I proposed to you a bunch of times, and you said no, so I had to look after myself, and I left. I needed to have some space and take time.
Hope: Except you didn’t really take the time, though, did you? You just immediately jumped into another relationship.
Thomas: Paris is good for me. And she’s good for Douglas, too.
Hope: Don’t you think we… should be discussing what is best for our son? You can’t just erase me from your lives like that just to make it easier on you. Thomas, I am begging you to please try to remember what we shared, the love… that we had for each other.
Thomas: You had your chance, Hope.
Hope: [sighing]
Thomas: And you hurt me over and over again. You turned me down so many times.
Hope: I turned down the idea of a marriage, yes, because I wasn’t ready at the time, but that didn’t mean that I was turning down the idea of being with you. Please, Thomas. ♪♪ It doesn’t feel right. I am asking you to not just jump into a marriage with someone, for your sake and for Douglas’s sake. It was never over between us.
Thomas: How many times… am I supposed to be rejected and come back? How many times do you want me to try?
Hope: [sighing]
Thomas: Okay. It wasn’t time then. But how about I give it a third try? ♪♪ Will you marry me, Hope? Will you be my wife? ♪♪
ANNOUNCER: Here’s a look ahead.
Ridge: Tom’s moved on.
Brooke: Maybe he’s not being honest with himself.
Ridge: Hope’s gonna be fine.
Hope: You always know how to make me feel better, Finn.
Finn: You know what? I believe in you.
Deacon: There’s someone out here. What’s going on with you?
Hollis: Man, I can’t stop wondering why Tom overdosed.
