THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

So this is it, huh? This is how it ends. Neat. Clean. Easy. And then curtains down for Harris Michaels.

You know, if someone did in fact kidnap Tripp and Wendy, they sure as hell knew how to disengage their phones. Last pings came from outside the park near the square. Yeah, during the event. Right. You know, with Wendy’s tech prowess, it’s possible that they could have coerced her into showing them how to do it. Mm. Oh, man.

I think we’re gonna need to move through some back channels now. That takes more know how. Yeah, well Hang on a second.

Hey, son. How’s Tate doing? Hey, dad. Well, we just got here. We haven’t checked in yet, but I know that you’re on the visitors list, so do you think you can make it? Hold on a second. Um, it’s Brady. Tate just got moved to a halfway house. He was wondering if maybe I could Go. Go. Don’t have to ask. I think you just got the okay, so I’ll see you soon.

You got it, kid.

Buddy, take off. It’s okay. Hey, I’m still waiting for notes on that Ava video anyway. I’ll stay here. I’ll keep working at, at this until you get back.

We’re gonna find your boy. Come hell or high water.

I

thought he would never leave. You again? I was in the neighborhood. Have you tried the shashouks at the little cafe down the road? Oh, the eggs are cooked beautifully, but it could have used a little bit more salt. I don’t have time for your restaurant reviews. I am busy. Well, I too am a busy man, Mr. Johnson.

But I have made time in my busy schedule. To see you.

Room service. Hi, honey. How are you doing? It’s still all weird to me. Oh. Yeah, I, I understand. So I was wrong before, wasn’t I? It’s way past New Year’s Eve, right? You know, honey, the doctors assured us that when, uh, a person wakes up out of a coma, they tend to pick up where they left off. Do you remember Damar Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills player who got knocked out on the field and then was in a coma for a few days and, well, the first thing he said when he woke up was, did we win?

And against all odds, he’s playing again. How inspiring is that? Yeah, that’s great, but I’m not a professional football player. And mom, you haven’t let me see my phone or watch the news. You said I was in a hospital in Italy? I just, I can’t even wrap my brain around that. Holly. Mom, what is it you’re not telling me?

So, how are we doing?

Okay, Dad’s headed over. Great. Tate’s going to be so happy to see him. Yeah. Hi, uh, we are, um Teresa Donovan and Brady Black. We’re here to see our son, Tate Black. You’re on the list, Ms. Donovan, so you can just head on into the visiting room. Um Oh, I’m sorry. What about me? Brady? Brady Black? You are not listed.

Um, okay. There’s been a mistake here. See, this is, this is his father. I’m sure it’s on the list. I’m sorry, I just can’t let anyone in without the patient’s permission. Go on. Go on. He’s, he’s waiting for you, so you go.

Okay, I’ll talk to him. Go. I’ll be here if you need me. All right.

Oh. Tight. Alright, Mom. Oh. So good to see you.

You know your dad’s here. Don’t. Just don’t do this, Mom. What? What am I doing? What are you doing? Really? You’re trying to guilt trip me into seeing him, aren’t you?

Sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives. Thank God you’re

here. I’ve been challenging for a cappuccino. I’ll be back in a jiffy. You, uh, you want anything?

Bitch.

What are you doing? I whipped up some of my famous baklava rolo. It is an old family recipe that my mother god rest her soul passed down to me. I’m not hungry. You’re not hungry? Well, you might be in a little while because we are going to be here for a while. Uh, do you have coffee? Uh, that old American diner style coffee with the drip, drip, drip stuff?

Just ran out. Ah, what a shame. That is too bad. Ah, well, here you go. Oh, thanks. You are really missing out. You know, I gave some to the children this morning. Thomas and Charlotte at the house, and they just gobbled them up. That’s why I like to call them the little goblins. I love children. I really do.

Really love them. I don’t have time for this. You don’t have time to have a delectable Greek pastry, huh? Well, you should make time. Ella, pedacimo. It might remind you of Greece. The time you spent in Aria, to be precise. You know, my Catalina, she loved baklava rolo. Oh, yes. I had to hide them from her. She loved.

She loved so very much, everything. She had what you might call a zest for life. Don’t you ever shut up! Now listen, I’m in the middle of a case here. I don’t have time for this.

So your son is still missing? What’s it to you? Well, it’s just that I I can certainly relate to the pain that you are going through. The acute anger, frustration. Pining for answers that remain excruciatingly elusive. Yes, well, I do understand. The pain that you are going through, the hell that you are going through, because I go through it every minute of every day, Mr.

Johnson, wondering who killed my daughter.

You’re doing great. Uh, EJ, can you help me get Holly up? Honey, Sarah said that you should get out of bed a few times a day and walk around. Yes, absolutely. After being in bed so long, well, we mustn’t let the muscles atrophy. You’ve been in bed for so long. How long? How long have I been in a coma? Easy, honey.

Easy. First things first. Come on. Here we go. Let’s get this over and done with. Ready? Hold on. There you go. Ready? Down. Hold on. You in? Let’s go. Oh. Yay, honey. This is great. Look at you. There you go. And turn you right. And there we go. There baby. Yum.

What? What? It’s, it’s, it’s chicken broth and smashed bananas with a pinch of cinnamon for a little kick. Ugh, gross. Nah, someone pass me my phone. I’m gonna order a burger from Buddy’s Burger Bar. No, honey, you can’t have that. Why not? Well, because Sarah said, and every Google search known to man said, that you have to reintroduce Certain food groups in your system slowly.

Well, how is it gonna help my system if you’re giving me food I won’t eat? Well, how about some chowder from the pub? No. Uh, yeah, never mind. It’s too rich. Never mind. French fries? And what are you gonna ask for next? Froglois or fried Oreos from the state fair? Bet. Bet? What? What? Bet? What does that mean? Oh my god, mom.

What? It’s Gen Z slang. Gen Z slang? It means like word. Word? Bet? I’m Sorry. What? It’s okay, sweetie. What? What? What’s so funny? It’s nothing. It’s just watching the mother daughter back and forth. It’s beautiful. I missed it. I’m sure you have. I have. Oh my god. Guilt tripping you? I’m not guilt tripping you. I’m just trying to tell you that Mom, I mean it.

Do not try to force me to see dad today. Tate, you can do whatever you want, okay? But just hear me out. You and your dad had a great relationship before all this happened. You guys were best buds! Yeah. Yeah. We used to be. But, ever since I started therapy, well, it brought up a lot of stuff for me. Especially how dad wasn’t there for me when I was growing up.

Like, when we moved to California, I Yeah, about I’m moving to California. Yeah?

I had a big part in that. What do you mean? I’m the one I kept you from your father.

It is a parent’s worst nightmare, losing a child. They say it gets easier with time. No. Oh, it does not. I miss my Katharina more as time goes on. No less.

She was my heart.

She was the only good thing I ever did.

Do you feel that way about your children, Mr. Johnson?

My children mean everything to me.

Well then, you must understand how terribly painful my loss Has been.

Do you understand?

How could I not?

I appreciate your empathy, Mr. Johnson. More than you know.

Hey, buddy. Dad, thanks for coming. What’s, uh, what’s going on here? Have you been in to see Tate yet? Uh, no, no, I haven’t been in. Teresa’s actually seeing him right now. Oh, okay. He didn’t put me on the list. Oh, come on, son. I have seen you and your boy together. Let me tell you, that bond is strong. I mean, come on, does it need a little bit of work here?

Yeah, you know, so let’s give it some time, some patience, and with a little bit of effort, I can guarantee you things are gonna be A OK. I’m hoping so. Listen, don’t I know that he wants to see his granddad, so why don’t you, uh Why don’t you go in there? He’ll be happy to see you, okay? Go on. Okay. Love you, buddy.

Love you, too. No.

No, you didn’t You didn’t move me to California to keep me from Dad. You No, you’re just making that up to cover for him. No, I’m not.

The reason I have custody of you is because I made up What? You made up what?

I made up a lie that implicated your father in a murder case.

I lied. And that got me custody of you. And that’s what allowed me to take you with me to California. So my point is, that man out there that you refuse to see? I have hurt him. So much more than he has hurt you or hurt me.

Your father loves you. He always has and he always will.

Um, there’s something else that I think that I want you to know about your, your father. Actually, about me.

You remember that first night that you were sent away? I was a mess. And I slipped. I slipped. In a really big way. And guess, guess who was there for me? I mean, totally, totally there for me. Kind and forgiving and supportive, even after everything that I have done to him. Your father, Brady Black.

He needs you in his life. And you need him. Hey, dear.

Where are you, kid?

Your mom’s right. Your dad needs you because he loves you with all his heart. And your mother here, you know what? She just took a really big risk in telling you the truth. That was brief of her.

You know why she did that?

Because she trusted enough in your love for her. She knew she wasn’t going to lose you. You know what we call that?

Unconditional love, T. And that is what your mother and your father have for you. That is what your grandparents have for you. Always. Or ever.

I

heard you survived those bullets, you son of a bitch. Better

luck this time.

Not so fast.

No, you’re not going anywhere, pal. Ah! Stefan? So good to see you.

Listen, Constantine. I understand that you’re still grieving your daughter. But if you’re somehow trying to implicate me in her death No, no, no, no. I am not trying to do anything. I am merely sharing, uh, how her death haunts me, pains me, every minute of every day.

No one was supposed to die that day. It was an accident. A terrible accident. Which you witnessed. Did you not? No, no, not directly.

But you admit, you were there when Katharina died. When the pawn put a bullet through her head.

You were there. Were you not?

I’m good, Mom. Really, that’s all I want. Okay, well that’s a good start anyway. Well, um, let’s get you back into bed, shall we? Not yet, okay? Mom, you said you’d answer some of my questions, so how about answering those now? Okay, what do you want to know? Everything. Starting with why I was in a coma for what, months?

You had opioid laced drugs in your system.

Drugs? What? It’s okay, Colleen. We know that you don’t do drugs. And believe me, we are going to get to the bottom of what happened. But however it happened, it was an overdose and your heart stopped several times. You nearly died. Before you slipped into unconsciousness. And it, it happened on New Year’s Eve.

That’s when I thought it would, when I came to. Honey, do you remember anything else?

No, um, not really. Just, just the sound of fireworks. But darling, just, just try and think hard. Think hard for back then for you were drugged with potentially lethal drugs that in fact almost cost you your life. So it is very important that we know where they came from. Honey, where did you get the drugs?

It’s hate. Hey,

your father, he’s missed you so much. He’s out there in the waiting room, he’s just hoping you’re gonna agree to see him.

You know,

I just found my long lost father. Your great grandfather. Timothy, he’s a wonderful, spirited man, which I missed out on so many years with him. And neither one of us were ever gonna get those years back. I’m just saying that I don’t want you to look back one day and have any regrets about the time that you missed with your dad.

You know Tate, but it’s your call.

So what do you say? Can I, can I go get him and tell him that you would like to see him after all?

Can I help you? Tate Black would like to see his father. Okay, sure, I just need to make a quick call.

Hello, this is Olivia confirming that Tate Black will allow his father to visit. Thank you. You can go in to see your son now, Mr. Black. Thank you. Listen, I gotta take off, but uh, you’re gonna call me, right? Yeah, of course. I love you, son. And Tate? You got yourself a good kid in there. I know he’s a good kid.

I’ll see ya. Thank you again. Love you, buddy. You know I had no choice in this. We all have choices. Uh, what do you want from me? You seem to follow instructions really well. I like that in a person. Now I have some instructions of my own for you. Are you listening? I’m listening. Yeah? You work for me, Gamera.

You’re gonna take the fall for this, and you’re gonna help me take Clyde Weston down, do you understand? I understand. That’s good. Oh, that’s good.

Do You need to confess, Mr. Johnson? Because now is the time. Surely, it would help you to, to relieve the guilt. To finally admit the truth. Nothing

will relieve me of that guilt. So you were there? In Aria? On that terrible day?

Answer me, Mr. Johnson.

Yes. Yes, I was there.

God, how I wish I hadn’t been.

Please. Tell me more, please. For both our sakes. We both deserve to have peace of mind about this. Don’t you agree?

Sure. It will unburden you. It will help. I assure you, it will help. It was a long time ago. Decades. We were different people then.

But yes. I was the pawns handler for Victor.

He called me away to give me some instruction.

And when I came back,

there was a young girl lying there.

Dead.

That image has tormented me all this time. I didn’t know who she was.

But you do now.

I do now.

And the bomb? Where was he when you came back? He was there, just holding the gun. And someone else was lying next to the girl, flat, on the ground. I couldn’t see that person’s face,

but I knew it was you. Hey son. I have to go make a call. It’s uh, it’s good to see you.

Yeah, it is. It’s good to see you too. Look man, I um, I don’t know what grandfather said to you. No, it was mom. Yeah, she um, she told me the truth about what happened. Between you two. What she did so she could take me to California and away from you. Pauline.

Tell us, please. , where did you get the drugs? Did Tate give them to you? Uh, I, I don’t know. I, I don’t remember taking any drugs, so someone must have given them to me, or maybe they slipped them into my drink without my knowing. I, I don’t know. So no one gave you the drugs? Not Tate, not anyone. Mom. I’m, I’m just really tired.

Okay. So you need to rest. Yeah, of course, honey. Of course. Come on. That a girl. Let’s see. There we go.

What’s the plan? He’s gonna keep me here? No, I’m gonna keep you here until we’re clear on where things stand. I know where things stand. Just a reminder, I got you on attempted murder of a police officer. Not once, but twice. First, a loading dock, and now with a syringe. And look, you’re not wearing gloves, so your fingerprints are all over the murder weapon.

Do you know what kind of time you’re gonna freaking serve?

You ready to play ball?

Where is he? Where is that bastard who killed my Katerina? I will suck the life out of him! No, no, no. John is not the one you want. He was not the puppet master there. Whatever he did was out of his control. But you do not deny he was the pawn, huh? He was transformed into that maniac by Stefano DiMera. And he’s dead.

And so is Victor. So if it’ll make you feel any better, go spit on their graves. But leave John out of this. He has suffered enough. He suffered? I have suffered! And now I want the both of you to suffer, like I have suffered! What do you mean by that? Your missing son, he may still be alive. But my daughter is dead!

And I will have justice!

Did you hear what she just said? I knew it. Someone slipped her those drugs and we both know who that someone was. No, we don’t know that for sure. Oh, come on. Who else could it have been? No one else was drugged at that party. Holly was roofied. And there’s no one else who would have done that except for her date that night.

The little swine who was trying to get into her pants.

Is this true? Did you, did you, you told him? It was time that Tate knew the truth. Oh, I really don’t know what to say. I do. I’m sorry, Dad. I’m so sorry.

You don’t have anything to be sorry about, Tate. None at all. And I thank you for telling the truth. I’m grateful.

I love you. You’re my kid, I love you so much. And your mom and I, we’re always gonna be there for you, no matter what, okay? You hear me? Come

here.

We have a lot to catch up on, don’t we? Yeah. Yeah, we do. Do you know what it was like for me to watch the Super Bowl alone this year? I picked you, Dad, in a room full of chicken wings and pizza and a giant 4K television and no one did It was awful. Yeah, well, I had no one to ask to kick in fantasy basketball this year, so Okay, stop it.

And, um, Mom, thank you for opening up to me. Really, for having the courage to tell me the truth about you and Dad. I’m so glad I did. Just seeing you both laughing together, it just You have no idea how happy it makes me.

I knew I’d find you in here. Yes.

Just making sure this was all still real. Holly’s home and she’s come back to us. I understand that need. But I assure you, my darling, it is very real. And

now EJ, I mean, she doesn’t I obviously remember that she was drugged and I just, I so hope that those drugs weren’t hers that did this to her. I guess because I would feel like that would reflect on me because if she were using, that means I failed her as a mother. But you haven’t, Nicole.

But I have, in so many ways. I’ve been selfish and self absorbed, and if those drugs that almost killed my daughter, if they were hers, then that’s just another box ticked off on a terrible mother checklist. And yes, you know what, sure, I, I I could say that I should have been there for her more. I mean, recently, just losing the baby, and then losing my mind, and stealing Eric’s baby.

I mean, it just It was so lost. It was just And, and, and And pain. And it was hurting, and I’m trying to make sense of it all. And I just was really I was just trying to handle how to get through every day. Nicole, sweetheart. I need you. To stop beating yourself up. Look at me. You are a wonderful mother. And darling, Holly made it clear that those drugs weren’t hers, which means she is completely innocent in all of this.

Holly is a wonderful young woman. And you have raised her right. You should be very proud. Very, very proud. Now come on, let’s let this lovely young girl get some rest, okay?

Okay.

So, any late breaking news since I left? Um, yeah, that’s right, no problem, no problem. If you don’t come to us, we go find the leads, right? Because our number one priority here is bringing your boy home safely. Definitely. All right, now you said, Dylan, when I left here that the last cell phone pings were heard what, outside the park?

Yeah. That’s right.

Yeah. Right there. All right. Nice. See, partner? We’re already making progress. Let’s keep at it.

You can go. I’ll be in touch. Yeah. All right. Oh, God. God! Oh! Oh! Please. Oh, gosh. Uh, Uh,

What the?

Goldman! It’s you!
