THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
the rescue, are you my fairy godmother?
[ Chuckles ] Your call came exactly at the right time. I had just gotten ice cream and wine out for myself because dante is still at work, scout’s with the q’s, and the boys are at some sleep– oh, you can have that — sleepover camp. So you’re in luck. I’m so excited to catch up with you. It’s been a really long week. I know, it has. Wait. Where are your kids? Well, bailey is with grandma and grandpa, and — georgie: No! Get away from me! James! Mom!
[ Door opens ] There we go. Oh, marshall. Hi. You’re just in time to join us. “Us”? Yes. Trina. She decided to move back in. That’s, uh — that’s, uh, great news, yeah. I know, I know, I know. She’s upstairs. She’s unpacking right now.
[ Sighs ] Let me go get her.
[ Chuckles ] Trina! Trina, honey, come say hi to your grandfather. Probably loud music.I’m gonna go get her, okay? Deanna, we’re monitoring my patient in 941 very carefully. Any changes, I want to be notified immediately. Yes, dr. Finn. Thank you.
[ Elevator bell dings ] Dr. Finn, I’m so glad you’re here. I need your help. Dante: Gun! Everybody down!
[ Gunshot ]
[ Breathing heavily ]
[ Sighs deeply ][ Door opens ] Are you okay?
[ Door opens ] Man: A nine-year-old metro
girl has a new lease on life s [ Gasps ] Mom, you scared me to death! You scared me.
[ Indistinct tv chatter ] What did you do to your face? What? Shh! What are you watching? “How to catch a killer!”
[ Doorbell rings ] Who is it? A-anna, it’s dante. Thank you for coming. Hey, yeah. Okay. When you said you knew where we should go, I really didn’t think you meant a place like this. I don’t know. We were talking about bensonhurst and the good old days, so I thought of this place.
[ Scoffs ] Reminds me of jake’S. Isn’t this the place that joss was with trina where you read them the riot act? Yes, and I don’t ever want her to know that I was here. Capiche? Capiche. Oh, god! Alright. I gotta go wash my hand. You’re gonna brave the ladies’ room? Can’t be worse than this. Would you get us a couple of beers? Okay.
[ Chuckles ] Hi. Could I get a couple bottles of el rey sol? Nice. But I figured you’d want a glass. You figured me wrong. And I figured you for some fun.
Thank you for coming out so late. Can I get you something? No, no, I’m good. Thanks. Alright. Any progress with the shooting at the metro court pool? Uh, well, I’ve got more questions than answers, so if you call that progress, then, yeah, we got a lot of progress. Okay, so you can’t definitively rule anything out? That’s kind of the gist of it. I mean, that gun came from the wsb, so looks like you’re the winner. But we also can’t rule sonny out as a target either. But that’s not why you called me here tonight. No. I said that I would call you if I got any new information. And I appreciate that. It’s not anything solid, but it — it could be another avenue that may or may not be related. Have you heard of a company called pikeman? I was under the impression that you don’t watch tv anymore.
[ Tv turns off ] I don’t, much, but I’ve been streaming this docuseries. It’s so good. But my internet went out, so I decided I would come here and see if yours worked. So, what’s so — so great about this show that you couldn’t wait for your internet to be turned back on? Oh! Are you kidding me? I’m in the middle of the finale. I couldn’t just be left hanging. Besides, it’s so much better to watch it on your tv rather than on my phone or my computer. I love you so much. I love you, too, mom. Thank you. And I-I always want you to feel welcome to be here anytime. But if you really do love me, you’ll let me know next time so I don’t walk in and have a heart attack and die.
[ Chuckles ] That’s very dramatic. But I’ve only been here for a half hour, and I — I didn’t think you would still be out this late running around. You didn’t? What’d you think, I’d be sitting in a rocking chair, knitting an afghan? That feels on brand.
[ Sighs ] I hope you had fun. I did. Oh, I did. I had a lot of fun. Wait. What were you doing? I was checking off something on somebody’s bucket list. I’m sorry about this next part. Could both of you come out here, please? Say hi to sam. Hi. Hi, sam. Hi. It’s good to see you both. What happened? She started it. He won’t stop touching my stuff. I thought grandpa mac got both of you to agree to a truce. She broke it! You don’t even know what a truce is! Do too! No, you don’t! Georgie, my room — now. Hopefully, this doesn’t take too long. What’s a truce? Well, it’s when you agree to end a disagreement or an argument. Wait. Is that ice cream? It looks like trina left a little note. “Gotta go out for a little while, and I’ll be back soon.”
[ Scoffs ] She got out of here pretty quietly. I hope she didn’t run to see spencer. I just — ugh. Look, don’t do that to yourself, mother. No. I know. I know. I am grateful that trina’s back. And when curtis gets out of rehab, we’ll all be under the same roof. I don’t think that’s such a good idea. You don’t think that curtis should move back here? No, I absolutely do. But I also think I should move out. Portia, I was planning on doing it before curtis was shot. Yeah, you were. But I was against it then, and I’m against it now. Marshall, curtis is gonna need you. He’s gonna need you now more than ever. And so do trina and I. We really do. Alright. You know I will do anything to support my family. Yeah. I know. And curtis and trina, they deserve that support from you. Yeah. I guess I’m just not sure… if I do. Is this about your dad? Yes. He’s going to rehab tomorrow, and I need to see him tonight to let him know that I’ll always be there for him and that I love him. I’d like to help you, trina, but — look. Okay. I know that he refused to let me see him since he found out he’s paralyzed. And my mom’s tried to explain it to me, and I think I understand. He’s proud. He’s a proud man, he’s a hero, and he doesn’t want me to see him like this. But he’s my father, dr. Finn. I know. I know, trina. I, uh… I just don’t want to get your hopes up. Look, please. Please. If violet asked someone to get her in to see you, wouldn’t you want someone to help her? Oh, I see you’re being transferred to rehab tomorrow. Your occupational and physical therapists…
[ Sighs ] …Say you’re in great shape. Never better. It’s not gonna be easy, but you’re strong and you’re gonna work hard, and you will adjust to your new situation. You can just say it, elizabeth. That I am going to have to adjust to spending the rest of my life… in a chair.
Well, it’s late, and you were fighting with your sister, so consider yourself lucky, kid. Why do you have a boy’s name?
[ Stammers ] Who said sam is a boy’s name? Everyone. Maxie: Okay. Oh, you got sam to give you ice cream. Just a little. Okay, well, georgie’s sleeping in my room tonight. Yay! Thank you, mommy! Okay, james, don’t eat all of that. He’s gonna eat all of that. We gotta move out, like, really soon. We’re all driving each other crazy. And by that, I mean they’re driving me crazy. Okay, um, I thought lucy was helping you find a bigger place. Yeah, she is. But every place I like, I get outbid. It’s a tough market right now. Tomorrow, I’m seeing two places that I never would have considered a month ago. But when james and georgie are going after each other all day and all night, it upsets bailey, and then she starts crying. And by the end of the day, I’m the one that’s crying. Okay, wait. I think I actually have a solution for you.
[ Rock music playing ] Is one of those for me? Uh, for a friend. Oh. I could be a friend. A very good friend. I bet. A friend who would betray me. Now, why would anyone in their right mind betray a beautiful woman like you? Someone did. Well, let me at him. I will defend your dignity to the death. Hey, maybe we should go someplace a little less noisy and further discuss this dilemma of yours. Uh, carly. I see that you have met eddie. I did. I met eddie maine. What are you doing here? This used to be just my kind of place. I-I figured I’d come in and check it out.
[ Chuckles ] Great. Great. I’m sure, uh, one of these guys would — would love to show you a good time. Meanwhile, your friend cary and I… carly.Carly. Carly. Beautiful name. Carly and i were just discussing the downside of betrayal… mm. …And, you know, getting to know each other. Right. You and I have already met. Right. Uh, if you could just give me one second. Excuse me. One second.
[ Mouthing ] Oh, my god! Um… I may be stating the obvious here, but is it possible that my husband is actually trying to pick up my best friend? Oh. I don’t think so. Hey, carly! I’m getting lonely over here. Oh, my god! You’re not gonna believe — no, no, no. Don’t tell me. It’s not like you’re gonna watch it, mom. Oh, my god. Are you watching it? My tv accidentally turned on, and I’m on episode three. Okay. You’re not gonna believe what happens. The — no! You are not gonna ruin this for me. I am amazed that you actually watched some guilty television. Well, if you’re amazed at that, you’re gonna be amazed at what I did tonight. Tell me. Are you gonna make fun of me? Yeah, probably. Okay. I threw hatchets — you know, axes — at a bull’s-eye. Targets.
[ Laughing ] Wait, what? Oh, that’s the place that sam went with dante. Oh, she said she loved that. Mm, it was really exhilarating. I bet. Mm. You know… I think it’s just human nature that something so basic is so satisfying. So, uh… who’d you go with? A friend. I’m gonna get something to drink. Do you want something? What’s that? Oh, sorry. Those are just my books from sam. “Finance and business management.” Is this your light beach reading?
[ Chuckles ] Yeah. I think sam was honestly shocked that I didn’t throw them at her. Pikeman? Is it a company in port charles? No, security defense contractors. And according to robert, they have ties with the wsb. Huh. What are they selling them? Weapons? Perhaps. The most interesting thing is that there’s this kind of revolving-door situation where pikeman recruits former wsb agents as operatives. Yeah, that’s kind of par for the course with those kinds of things. But you sure about this? Uh-huh. I mean, at first, I was…skeptical. That is, until I spoke to someone who was with the wsb who was recruited by pikeman and worked for them. Who was that? Valentin.
Is valentin still working for pikeman? No, no. This was years ago, when he was — when he first left the wsb. What was he doing for them? Logistics. Logistics, huh? That sounds like a euphemism for something. He was a contractor. Mm-hmm. Alright? And he worked for them on a project-by-project basis. He said that they didn’t allow him to get anywhere near the inner workings of the company. And they recruited him? Specifically because he had wsb prior experience. Where’s valentin tonight? I’m sorry.
Oh, carly
the night is young and what rhymes with carly?
Gnarly he is definitely hitting on you. And he’s definitely eddie maine. Did you doubt me? No. But now I’m absolutely certain, because he’s hitting on me right in front you. And ned quartermaine would never do that. Well, I guess… hey. …I should be lucky that he’s hitting on you instead of some floozy that would actually take him up on it. Okay. I-I-I should get back to eddie. Yeah, yeah. Go, go, go, go, go! I’m gonna figure out what he wants and try and point him back in your direction. Okay, well, hurry up before he decides that what he wants is that. Uh, that’s my spot. I like your style, carly.
[ Chuckles ] Didn’t wanna give up eddie, did you? Nope. Just trying to figure you out. Man: Wow. You look lonely. And hot. Actually, I’m surprised you didn’t throw these books at her. Mom. Well, she gave you that nice, pretty blouse. You threw it at her. It was pink. We know how I feel about pink. Still. Clearly, I am not throwing books at my sister. Thank you.
[ Chuckles lightly ] But you came over here to watch this show. I’m wondering why you brought the books. I thought… you were gonna burn the books in the fireplace, weren’t you? Dante and lulu’s house? It’s empty. And it’s been empty since he and rocco moved in with us. And dante doesn’t want to sell it, so I was just thinking that — lulu’s house? Okay. Alright. Maybe I didn’t actually think this through. But you said you needed a bigger space. No, no, it, uh — it makes sense. Hey, I know you miss lulu. Yeah, I — I do. You know, I don’t — I don’t get to see her enough. But when I do go visit her, I-I talk to her. I tell her about my kids. Everything that’s been going on. It’s been almost three years. I’m sorry. You don’t want to talk about this. No, no. It’s okay. It’s okay. You can talk to me about lulu. Rocco talks to me all the time about her. In fact, dante just took charlotte to go visit her. She is a part of our lives. I know that dante and rocco had to move on with their lives, and I’m
[Inhales deeply] I’m really happy it was with you. I know lulu would be happy, too. Thank you. And that means a lot. Especially — especially coming from you. But maybe it’s just probably a really bad idea. Maybe. I don’t know. It’s not good for a house to be empty for too long. No. That’s true. Do you think dante would be okay with me living there? I think that if dante decided that he wanted to rent the house, there’s no one else in the world he would rather rent it to than you. I don’t care whether you think you deserve my support or not. You have it.
[ Sighs ] I know. Let me finish. I made mistakes. Let me finish. You — you are my daughter-in-law. You are the mother of my beloved grandchild. And for that alone, that’s enough. But you know who else you are? Portia, you’re the one who made me realize I don’t have the genes for schizophrenia. And that changed my life. I did that for you. I-I did that as — as a doctor, and…
[ Sighs ] …I’m glad I could. But as your daughter-in-law and as trina’s mother, I just can’t help but feel like it’s my fault that curtis could end up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
[ Sobs ] Trina. You’re here late. Yeah, um… it was important for me to come. I understand. Cameron said he’s been in touch with you. Yeah, he has. He’s been so supportive. All of my friends have been. You must be really proud of him for already playing on the varsity soccer team. I am. Is there anything I can do to help you? Um…no, not yet. Dr. Finn is working on something for me.
[ Cellphone chimes ] Hey. Doc finn.
[ Door closes ] I heard you’re heading to rehab tomorrow. That’s what I’m told.
[ Sighs ] You’re visiting kind of late. I haven’t got any infectious diseases since I’ve been here, so I’m guessing you’re not here for any medical reason. Well, you know, when you’re a doctor, it’s hard to avoid that god complex where you want to be able to cure everyone. But you can’T. No. That’s the humbling part. I can’t cure you. But, uh, I can do something that I — I think will help.
Uh, olivia said you’re staying with the quartermaines. Yeah, for a few days. Before that, I was staying at my friend’S. Uh, sonny corinthos? You know him? Yeah. Um, everyone who lives around here knows him. Yeah, right. He’s a good guy. I just felt like I was crowding him. He’s got this gorgeous fiancée, nina. Mm. You know, um… now, you’re with the quartermaines, right? They’re nice people. Yeah. Yeah. They mean well. Leo — sweet kid. I really like him. I actually think he likes me, too. I’m sure he does. But olivia — she’s got it in her head that I’m her husband. And can you imagine me living with that overbearing, wound-up —
[ Foot stomps ] Ouch! Oh, sorry. I thought I saw a roach.
[ Winces ] So… since the quartermaines are good people, why aren’t you trying to get to know them? Well, because… they all want me to be someone that I’m not. So why don’t you help them understand who you are, and maybe they’ll learn to accept you? Okay. You say that like you think they would. Well, I actually know someone who went through something similar… and they learned to love him. Get your hands off me! Aw, come on. You know you want the attention. No. What I want is for you to get your hands off of me, or I promise you, I will make you sorry. Honestly, I think I’d like to be sorry with you. Get your — get away from me. No, mom, I wasn’t going to burn the books that my sister gave me. Sorry. It’s just that the books were here and the fireplace is there. Right. So you just, “oh, my spiteful daughter is gonna burn the books that my other daughter gave her.” Nah. Yes. I know that the two of you have not been getting along well since you showed her your plans and she got kind of… obnoxious and skeptical? Well, to be fair, you never really enjoyed any of the gifts that she gave you, except for the motorcycle jacket. But that’s not really a gift. Okay, I have every intention of returning that to her… someday when the timing is right. It’s funny, though. Sam’s never… given me anything like this before. Th at’s because she’s tryingto apologize to you. She knows she — she hurt your feelings when she got down on you about not having a permit or a business plan. Yeah, she did hurt my feelings. But she was also right. You threatened to throw gladys in the pool? Yeah, I would throw anyone in the pool if they talked to scout that way. And I just — I don’t trust that woman. Mm. I ran into her when I went to visit sasha. She told me the doctor was with her and I couldn’t see her. I ended up being relieved. Oh. Why? Well, brook lynn did see her, and she said sasha was really out of it. She was yelling and screaming, and I just — I-I don’t want to see her like that. Okay, wait. But when I saw her, and what everyone else said, she seemed to be pretty in control. Yeah. The last time she was at home & heart, someone put the sound of a baby crying in her earpiece, and she didn’t break. Okay, then what happened? I mean, you worked with her. If she was using on a regular basis, you would know, right? Definitely. And then she stabs cody out of nowhere. Drop it! Doc, I really don’t appreciate the ambush. God complex, remember? If medicine doesn’t work, go with what does. Get in there, kid. Thank you. Trina, it’s late. And I think maybe you should just — please. I know you don’t want me here. But I had to see you before you go to rehab tomorrow to let you know how sorry I am. Uh, there was a water main break over at elq, and it was quite close to the mainframe computer. So valentin went over there to check on everything and make sure that there was no critical information lost. Does he know you’re talking to me? No. Pretty shady-sounding company, this pikeman. I’m surprised that valentin would even admit to you that he had worked for them. Well, he didn’t at first. He doesn’t like to talk about his past, but I think he told me because he’s concerned about my safety. So you think pikeman had something to do with the attempt on your life?
I said, get your hands off me! Hey! You heard the lady! Oh, get lost, old man. This is what she wants. Is this what you want? No, you idiot. Hey, back off, now! Or what? Is there an “or what” with that?
[ Spectators cheering ]
[ Laughter ] You heard about the power shakeup over at the wsb, right? I heard some rumblings. Yeah. So, when frisco refused to authorize the drone strike in greenland, out of concern for our safety, he was relieved of duty. I did hear that he’d been replaced. Right. And it’s just been a domino effect ever since then. The new director got rid of anyone who was ever associated with robert or me. So, did you meet the new director when you were in london being debriefed? No. No, I didn’T. And, at first, I didn’t really think anything of it. And then, as it turns out, the agent who was debriefing me, he was droning on and on about procedure, and something caught my eye. Right behind him was his briefcase. And sticking out of the top of the briefcase was a portfolio. On the corner of the portfolio… was the pikeman logo. Marshall: There is no way that you are responsible for a stray bullet. You don’t understand. It’s all the years of lying. Everything I did, the way I handled everything, it just — it led to that moment. If I would have just been honest…
[ Sniffles ] …Curtis, trina, and I, we could have been together. We could have been a family.
[ Sniffles ] I mean, if I’d have just told him the truth when I came to port charles — no. No, portia. No. No. You don’t understand. Curtis — he came there to see me.
[ Breathes shakily ] He came there to make things right with me. Things that — that I made wrong. It’s because of me. Portia, it’s good — it’s good to take responsibility for your mistakes. But then… daughter, you got to move on.
[ Sobs ] Focusing on the “what ifs” and the — and the — and the “what might have beens,” that’s no way to live your life. We got to move forward. I just really don’t know if it’s — it’s too late for us. Curtis is gonna need you. He gonna need you to move forward. He’s gonna need his daughter. He’s gonna need his wife. And whenever — whenever that puts too much of a strain on you, I’m gonna be right here. I’m gonna be right here to help you with whatever you need. Okay. It’s gonna be alright. Okay.
[ Crying ] It’s gonna be alright. What in the world would you have to be sorry for? I took sides between you and my mom. When I found out that you kissed jordan…
[ Sighs ] …I got all high and mighty about it. You were just being protective of your mother. But I didn’t have to pull away from you. I love my mom, and I want her to be happy. And I know how much she loves you. And I just pray that you guys will be able to work things out. And if you and my mom do, or if you don’T…
[ Sighs ] …You’ll still be my father. Yes, I will. And we were just beginning… to figure all of this out before I pulled away from you. And I was just being so stupid and selfish, and I don’t want to be that person for you or for myself anymore.
[ Softly ] I know. Isn’t it so nice? Hopefully, it lasts past 5:00 A.M. Wait, that early? Mm. Sometimes it lasts till 5:30. Okay, well, I’m gonna be out of your hair soon. I just called dante, and he’s gonna be here in like 20 minutes. No, that’s too soon. Aw! It was so good to see you and spend time with you, an actual adult. The jury is still out on that one.
[ Chuckles ] Hey, how’s molly doing? She’s good. Actually, back to normal. And kristina? Uh, not so much back to normal, actually. You sound like that’s a good thing. Because it is. You know I love my sisters both so much, but kristina has, uh, been a handful sometimes, you know? And now? Now, she’S… actually pulling her life together. You actually sound proud of her.
[ Chuckles ] It’s because i am. Okay.
[ Glasses clink ] You said, “sam is right.” I heard it. You can’t take it back. Mom, I-I can admit when I’m wrong. Mm, not usually when it comes to one of your sisters. Sam was right. She — you know, she had some strong points in the beginning. I just didn’t want to hear them because it’s coming out of her mouth. But she was. She — she told me that I really could have benefited from logistics and planning and not just focusing on the end result. And the books? The books have been very helpful. But more than that, I just… I appreciate them because it makes me feel like she cares about me. She does care about you. She loves you. And I love her. And molly. And I love you and sam and molly. Although we do argue a lot, which I think is healthy. Mm… so, now what? Now, I’ve gathered a lot of very valuable information on, you know, logistics and setup. Feels good. Mm. This project feels really important, and…I’m gonna finish it. I am.
[ Chuckles ] Aww! That’s my good, little baby girl.
[ Chuckles ] Trina, you have never been selfish, and you’re far from stupid. But I pulled away from you. Well, I pushed you away, and I realized I shouldn’t have done that. I understand. Well, then, you’re far ahead of me. I still haven’t figured out how I’m gonna handle being…
[ Inhales deeply ] Yeah. What’s it gonna mean? I keep thinking about how it was in greenland. Scary. Yeah. But I was able to protect my daughter, to rescue her, and to be the father that you need. And you are still the father that I need. And you always will be. I have no doubt about it. Remember the first words you said when you woke up after surgery? I need…my daughter. And I’m here. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.
[ Telephone rings ] Ninth floor. Yes, he’s right here. Dr. Finn, it’s about your patient. Yes? See what O.R. Is available, and page dr. Everett. I’ll be right there. So, what we’re saying here is that the wsb is in bed with pikeman on one of their investigations? We know what they’re capable of. At least, what they were capable of. Mm-hmm. And now, with these new people in charge, all bets are off. Or that logo thing that you noticed was just a coincidence. Oh, right. Like a swag gift or something? Yeah, a swag gift. Yeah. No. I mean, think about it. If the bureau has access to a private entity like pikeman, what’s to stop them using it to further their own political agenda?
[ Stammers ] But don’t the wsb want deniability? Why would they give pikeman a gun that they knew that we could trace? Like, that’s risky. Yes, of course. Getting into — getting involved with — with — with a private security contracting company like — like pikeman? Even for someone as covert as the wsb. But they’ve always worked with risk since the beginning of their existence, because it pays off. I can see that this theory has gained a lot of traction with you. But there’s a lot of holes. There are, which is why you called me. Right. I will go to the pcpd and check in with some contacts and see if I can get any more info on pikeman and try and connect them to you and sonny. I’ll let you know what I come up with. I’ll keep it on the down low. Yeah. Thanks. Good. Hey, thanks for keeping me in the loop. It — it feels good. You should keep doing it.
[ Laughs ] I will. I promise. Alright. Come on, I’ll see you out. Uh, you, uh, have a good night, okay? Yeah, you too. Thanks for coming. Yeah.
[ Door closes ]
[ Spectators cheering, laughing ] Olivia: Oh! Well, to the victor… you’re with me, honey. Get your hands off of me! Ooh! Who the hell do you think you are?! Beat it! How many times do I have —
[ Glass bottle shatters ]
[ Screams ]
[ Spectators groan ]
[ Shakily ] Oh. Hey. Ow. Are you okay? Honey?
[ Groaning ] You okay? Did I get him? Oh. [ Chuckles nervously ] Yeah, you got him, alright.
