Steffy: I can’t believe my mother shooting bill is front and center in our lives again. It should’ve been behind us. But because of sheila and this bizarre hold she has on him, my mom is talking about turning herself in.
Finn: I mean, that’s insane. And it can’t happen.
Steffy: No, it can’T. Brooke needs to make my mom realize that.
Brooke: Taylor! Taylor!
[ Brooke gasping ] Taylor!
[ Sheila sighing ]
[ Knocking on door ]
Deacon: Your order from il giardino.
Sheila: What are you doing? I– I didn’t expect the owner to deliver personally.
Deacon: Hey, look, bill’s got a horsie. Come on, will you relax, all right? That’s why I wore this getup. Trust me, I know bill’s got cameras everywhere. Besides, I thought this was a good excuse to check out your new digs.
Sheila: Not bad, huh?
Deacon: Beats the hell out of a prison cell, that’s for sure.
Sheila: Yeah, well, I’m never gonna see the inside of a prison cell again. This is… it. This is my permanent address. I’m– I’m happy to see you, though. Can you stay just a– a little while?
Deacon: You tryin’ to say you miss me?
Sheila: Yeah, a little. When I think about it.
Deacon: I miss you, too. A lot. So, where’s bill?
Sheila: He’s at the office. He had a– a long overseas conference call, so… let’s just stay. I’ll show you my new life.
Deacon: Captive audience.
Deacon: Well, I gotta admit, bill’s mansion does suit you a lot better than my crappy little apartment.
Sheila: Yeah, well, I’ve always been able to adjust quickly, and bill has made the transition very easy. I mean, he is– he’s kind, he’s generous, he’s loving, and– okay, I’m sorry, I get a little carried away sometimes. Look, I– I’ve got enough for two, why don’t– why don’t you stay and join me?
Deacon: Yeah, I think I lost my appetite. That’s kind of what happens when you think about you and spencer together.
Steffy: Once again, sheila is the root of all evil. I mean, could you imagine what life would be like without sheila? I know. We’d be living such carefree lives.
Finn: I’m just… I’m always gonna feel terrible about introducing–
Steffy: Hey. Hey. It is not your fault. She crashed our wedding. You had no idea your birth mother was even alive.
Finn: Well, she sure knew about me.
Steffy: Babe, stop. Stop blaming yourself. Look, I just don’t want my mom to lose her freedom. Because what? Sheila got in bill’s head somehow? I am just counting on brooke to get through to her.
Brooke: Taylor?
Taylor: This all has
to end. Now!
Brooke: Taylor. Taylor! Wake up! Wake up! Taylor! Oh, my god. Oh.
[ Taylor screaming ]
Taylor: Oh my god, brooke! What are you doing? What are you doing?
[ Coughing/sneezing ]
[ Door knocking ]
Deacon: I’m sorry, I just threw up a little in my mouth every time I think of you and spencer together.
Sheila: Yeah. Well, here, that’ll help wash it down. Deacon, he– he really is an amazing man.
Deacon: Please.
Sheila: No, I know what I’m talking about. You see, I see a side of bill that he doesn’t show to the rest of the world, a– a side that is… it’s kind. And loving, and gentle, and open.
Deacon: We are talking about the same guy, right?
Sheila: Yes, we are. Look, he’s different with me, I’m– we– we have complete trust in one another. We both feel safe showing our vulnerabilities.
Deacon: Sounds like the two of you have covered a lot of distance in a short amount of time.
Sheila: We have an amazing connection, and it’s been like that from the start. And bill doesn’t hesitate to admit that he’s never been with a woman like me.
Deacon: Can’t believe I’m about to say this, but apparently bill and i agree on something. ‘Cause honey, there ain’t nobody like you.
[ Sheila laughing ]
Steffy: My mother and sheila are nothing alike.
Finn: Of course not.
Steffy: But ever since bill started using the shooting as blackmail to free sheila, it’s been stirring up so much guilt in my mom. All the emotion she worked through after it happened, it’s all back on the surface.
Finn: Well, that’s one of the many ways that taylor is not like sheila. She is a good person with a conscience.
Steffy: It’s eating away at her. My mom is in so much pain right now, and it really scares me, what she might do to make it stop.
Taylor: My god, brooke, what are you doing?
Brooke: All right. Okay. Look get up. I need you–
Taylor: Get up?
Brooke: Yes, get up. Let’s stand up. Let’s walk this off.
Taylor: Why do we have to walk it off?
Brooke: What do you think you’re doing? There are people out there who love you. Your friends, your family. Me. You have an incredible career, you have clients who adore you. You can’t just throw it all away!
Taylor: What are you talking about?
Brooke: I saw that pill bottle out there, and I saw that note you left saying you were going to end it all.
Taylor: Brooke, the pills are supplements for sleep. I take them when I can’t relax.
Brooke: Uh-huh. Yeah. Supplements.
Taylor: Yes!
Brooke: Okay, what about that note? Saying you were going to “end it?”
Taylor: Oh my god, brooke. End– end this whole nightmare, with bill and sheila. I– confess!
Brooke: Okay. So you weren’t really going to…
Taylor: Oh, brooke. No. No.
Brooke: Oh!
Taylor: No.
Brooke: Oh, thank god.
Taylor: You know, thanks for– thanks for the water in my face.
Brooke: No, I–
[ Taylor laughing ]
Brooke: Oh, god, I’m sorry. I– I’m so sorry.
Taylor: All right, it’s okay. It’s okay, you were just worried. And you have no idea how much that means to me. Come here. Sorry, too.
Brooke: It’s okay. You scared me.
Taylor: I–
restless nights fogging
up your day?
Sheila: I’m glad to hear you still think I’m an original.
Deacon: What? Are you kidding me? You’re the original original. You got nine lives, one for each toe.
[ Sheila laughing ] And I will not second guess you again, I promise. Except when it comes to matters of the heart.
Sheila: Oh, you know what? You didn’t seem to have a problem with that when I was choosing you.
Deacon: Yeah, I mean, take a look at all this.
[ Both laughing ]
Sheila: Ah, yeah. I remember it very well.
Deacon: Mmm. Yeah, and now you’re in insta-love with bill spencer. Biggest, most pompous idiot on the planet.
Sheila: Mm-mmm, you’re letting your jealousy show.
Deacon: I’m not jeal– what the hell do I have to be jealous about?
Sheila: Oh, well, let me– let me count the ways, let’s see. Bill is rich. Really, really, rich. And he’s powerful.
Deacon: Okay, well, it doesn’t make him a good person. Yeah, and it’s– it’s actually the exact opposite. He uses his money as a license to be an obnoxious bully.
Sheila: Oh, well, you know what? He bullied me right out of prison. So, I see that as a plus in my eyes, and my god, have you seen the man? He’s gorgeous. He– he is sexy as all hell, and he is mine. All mine.
Deacon: Is this your idea of a good time, flaunting your relationship with that loser right in my face?
Sheila: I didn’t know you cared.
Deacon: Yeah, I do.
Sheila: Then you should be happy for me. I mean, isn’t that what– what buddies do? I mean, when someone has fallen into good fortune? Look at me, deacon, look– look at where I’m at, look at my life now.
Deacon: Yeah, it seems like you definitely hit the jackpot in some ways. Not living in a prison cell, or my dinky little apartment above a restaurant.
Sheila: Oh, no. No, no, no, don’t ever talk about your place like that. That– that’ll always be a special spot for me.
Deacon: Sure it will.
Sheila: I mean it. You gave me a– a safe place to stay when I needed it. Hell, we had a lot of fun together there. We made memories that– that I’m never gonna forget.
Deacon: I just– I just wish things could have been different between us.
Steffy: Oh, god, this is taking so long. Maybe I should call my mom, or– or– or brooke.
Finn: No, no, no. Hey, hey. I don’t think you should interrupt. Look, you trust brooke to handle this, right?
Steffy: I mean, I guess I should. It just feels weird trusting her, especially when it comes to my mom.
Finn: I know you’re worried, just give brooke some time. Okay?
Steffy: It’s just so hard. I hate waiting.
Finn: Mmm. Tell me something I don’t know.
Steffy: About me? Does such a thing even exist?
Finn: Are you kidding me? I learn something new about you every day.
[ Steffy laughing ]
[ Phone ringing ]
Steffy: Oh! It’s brooke. Hi.
Brooke: I’m at your mom’s, and everything is fine. She’s okay. She didn’t go to the police.
Steffy: Oh! Thank god.
Brooke: Yeah. But, I’m gonna hang out to make sure that it stays that way.
Steffy: Okay, yeah.
Thank you. Thank you so much. Are– are you sure you don’t need me to go there?
Brooke: No, just spend some time with your husband.
Taylor: Listen to brooke! I’m fine.
Steffy: Thanks again. And– and call me if you need anything.
Brooke: Will do.
Steffy: Oh, my mom is all right. Oh, my gosh.
Taylor: Thank you for not telling steffy what you thought you walked in on.
Brooke: Oh gosh, I am so sorry for misreading the situation.
Taylor: Mmm, it was a fair assumption. I’ve been a mess lately.
Brooke: Yes, you have been.
Taylor: You know, you don’t have to agree.
Brooke: I am just being honest with you! And quite honestly, I am worried about you being here alone. Laying all this shame and guilt on yourself. I have the perfect solution.
Taylor: Really? What’s that?
Brooke: Move in with me.
Sheila: God, what’s– what’s happening here? Are you– you gettin’ all sentimental?
Deacon: I don’t know, I mean, you and I were good together. Who knows what would’ve happened if dollar bill didn’t raise his ugly goateed face.
Sheila: We’d be talking between bars, that’s what. I’d be in prison if it weren’t for bill.
Deacon: And now you’re totally devoted to him, yeah. I heard it before. Again, loud and clear.
Sheila: Well, how could I not be? He– he has changed my life, deacon.
Deacon: All right, look. I’m talking as a friend now. Have you ever asked yourself what’s in it for him?
Sheila: Um, me. A woman that’s not gonna try to change him, a– a woman who isn’t gonna leave.
Deacon: He’s not trustworthy. I just hope by the time you figure it out, I’ll still be a place where you can land. Sheila, just don’t– don’t give him your heart, okay? He doesn’t deserve it.
Sheila: What if it’s already too late?
Deacon: Well, then I guess at least get him to spring for a new toe.
[ Sheila laughing ]
Sheila: Oh, I miss you.
Finn: Did brooke set your mind at ease about your mom?
Steffy: For now.
Finn: I– I get how hard it is for you to watch your mom suffer.
Steffy: I love my mom so much. And I hate to see her question her own morality.
Finn: Whatever taylor needs, we got her. Okay, steff?
Steffy: I am so grateful for you. Your constant love and support. How did I get so lucky? Because I could not imagine doing this without you.
Brooke: I’m totally serious. Just move in with me.
Taylor: Uh, thank you, uh, but I– I just, I– I– I couldn’T.
Brooke: Why not?
Taylor: Well, for starters, you– you have your own life. You have, uh, hope and liam and the kids down at the cabin and I don’t want you to worry about me.
Brooke: Well, I have to admit, I am worried about you. Here, alone, trying to process all of this? Besides, you moving in with me would benefit me as well!
Taylor: Really.
Brooke: Yes!
Taylor: Okay, tell me how.
Brooke: Okay, well… it’s not like I’m out partying every night, you know? I– I go to work, I go home to this big empty house, and I don’t see hope and liam and the kids as much as I used to, or as much as I’d like to. So it’d be nice to have a roomie.
Taylor: Oh, my god, brooke, I, um… I– I don’t know what to say. Um…
Brooke: Well, you could always say yes. I mean, you don’t have to see me. You don’T. You’ll have your own place, your own room, your own separate entrance. You can come and go as you please. Just be nice to have somebody else rattling around in that big house!
Taylor: So, you would open your home up to me?
Brooke: We used to be rivals, but we’re not anymore. We’re friends. We’re good friends. And I really am worried about you. I mean, you’re going through a very emotionally challenging time right now. You’re second guessing yourself. Feeling so much guilt. Maybe you could just bounce things off of me. Or maybe we could share a dinner or two. I don’t know. I just think we’d have a lot of fun together.
Taylor: I know we would.
Brooke: So?
Taylor: I, um, I– I’m– I’m overwhelmed. I just… thank you. For your kindness. Really.
Brooke: I told you. I promised you I would always be there for you. And I meant it.
Taylor: I see that. Thank you. Thank you.
Brooke: ‘Kay, so does that mean you accept? Come on, taylor! Come on. I don’t want you to be alone. It would be good for you. For us. Just tell me you’re going to move in with me. Just tell me.
