THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
She knew. There is no question I’ve been talking to a lot of concerned parents. Terms of their respiratory systems? Are they breathing normally? Granny, I told you I will do it myself. Do not say anything to my dad. There you are. Did you forget about bailey’s appointment? We waited for you as long as we could, but eventually we had to leave without you. Something came up. How’d she do? Amazing. 95th percentile across the board. “Something came up” as in…? My grandmother. Come on, brook lynn. You can tell me anything. What’s going on?
[ Sighs ] Tracy figured it out. She knows bailey is maxie’s daughter. I’m really glad that we could reschedule, maxie. Oh, thanks, trish. Yeah. Me, too. Oh, I can tell. Your enthusiasm is overwhelming. I’m just not looking forward to another grilling session on louise. I’m assuming that’s why we’re here. Hey. I got your favorite. They’re cold. So? You know how much I would have killed to eat cold crab cakes when I was in pentonville? Especially from the metro court. It’d just be better eating them there. That’s all. I…just thought it’d be nice to catch up in a more, uh, intimate setting. Oh, my god. You know as well as I do it’s not brunch without bottomless mimosas and “people-watching.” So why the sad, hidden-away meal? Mrs. Scorpio. For you. I know how long and boring guard duty can be. Maybe this will help perk things up. Thank you. Very much appreciated. Well, I’ll be sure and tell my husband how diligent you are, officer, uh…baird.
[ Chuckles ] Can I help you with something? Well, actually, I was hoping to have a quick word with the prisoner, but I was told that visitation is limited. Uh…not for the acting commissioner’s wife. Felicia. What are you doing here? I wanted to see you face to face. Are you looking for anything… in particular? A soul. What can I get you? Oh, no, thanks, man. I’m just waiting for someone. Is this him? Drew cain. Well, fancy seeing you here. Uh, shall we break bread?
You and me break bread? Yeah, I don’t think so. Bones, maybe. You’ve been through quite an ordeal. Your hostility is to be expected. My brother is dead because of you. No, it’s my understanding jason died trying to save you, britt westbourne, and liesl obrecht from peter august. Who was your ally. The two you were working together. Allegedly. Allegedly. Careful with the insinuations. I’m not the one who needs to be careful. Hey, hey, hey. Drew. Drew, don’T. Don’T. Come on. Let’s go get a table. Yeah, I just need a second here because I got a few things I need to clear up with mr. Cassadine. Do you think you should intervene in whatever that is? I’m pretty sure drew’s got it. Okay, so now we’re back to the grilling portion of our visit. I’m not grilling you. No? No. I reserve that for suspects, not victims. Maxie, your mother and i are very worried about you, that’s all. Oh.
You are worried? I wake up every morning facing another day without my daughter, hoping that she manages to stay safe because if peter finds her — he won’T. You don’t know that. So, forgive me if I’m not overly concerned that you and my mom are worried. Duly noted. But you love louise, and we love you. And the way you are handling this — is wrong? Is admirable. It’s admirable. You’re putting one foot in front of the other for the sake of your children. And, honestly, I don’t know how you’re doing this. But what we want you to know is that you don’t have to do it alone. Let us help you. You’ve already helped. And I-I don’t know what else there is that you could do. The trail has run cold. Yeah, I know. My suggestion is that we look at it all again with fresh eyes. Is there anything else that you can remember? I told the police everything I know. Really? Everything? Why aren’t you freaking out? I am. Just…internally. Well, join me externally, would you? Look. I’m trying not to overreact. Well, have you met my grandmother? On a scale of 1 to 10, how screwed are we?
[ Sighs ] Well, the good news is my granny will do anything for family. Even you? Hey. I’m sorry. It’s just I know you guys always haven’t had the best relationship. No one has with her. But when push comes to shove, I-I know she’ll have my back. What about me? What about you? I mean, I’m — I’m here to protect bailey. Is it — she knows that that’s the reason I’m here, right? She does. But she doesn’t think it’s enough. And I mean, she’s not wrong because if peter has proven anything, it’s that being confined does not render him powerless. Okay, so what’s an alternative?
[ Sighs ] My grandmother thinks the best way to keep bailey safe is to put distance between her and peter. How much distance? An ocean’s worth. Sorry to keep you waiting. Or not, because you didn’t wait. Okay. Valentin, my man, listen. We — we — we — hi. It’s austin. Yeah, we should have this conversation about brook lynn. She can’t just destroy people’s lives anymore, and I think we should plot our…retaliation. Yeah, okay. That — that’s a little extreme, um, even for you. I was just thinking, you know, paternity fraud because she falsified bailey’s birth certificate, naming you as the father and not chase. Oh, you did? Okay, well, that’s too bad. Can you go after her civilly? I see. [ Sighs ] Alright, well… um… you know, maybe this should be a more productive conversation if we were able to have it face to face, you know, if you weren’t too busy doing other things. Can we do that? Great, because as we speak, I’m pretty sure brook lynn is… concocting more schemes on other unsuspecting marks and we need to figure out… how brook lynn is vulnerable and take her down.
Don’t lose it because of this piece of garbage. Mm, listen to your ex, drew. Well, aside from the piece of garbage bit, of course. I think I was actually spot-on. Don’t squander your second chance at life. Maybe it was peter’s idea to hold me captive, but you provided the facility. You provided the guards. Those years that I lost are at your door just as much as peter’S. Of course, I regret any dealings I had with peter august. It was a terrible lapse in judgment. As for your captivity, you seem to be fully recovered. You know, you may have gotten a pass from the wsb, but you will never get a pass from me. You even twitch in the wrong direction, and I will make you wish that you stayed dead. Okay, fine. I don’t want to be seen in carly’s hotel, alright? It’s awkward, to say the least. That I get, but the metro court isn’t the only game in town. There are other restaurants with much better ambiance than my office, by the way. I don’t know. Add a little mood lighting, maybe some artwork? You could have a destination on your hands.
[ Sighs ] Brad. Does this have anything to do with your aunt selina warning me to stay away from you? No, I make my own decisions. And look, I’m with you right now. In hiding, basically. Besides, my aunt’s out of town.
[ Scoffs ] Okay, then. Be straight with me. What’s going on? Tracy wants you and bailey to move to amsterdam? Come on, you can’t be considering this. My granny can be very persuasive. And without valentin’s considerable resources, including yuri, this house isn’t as safe as it used to be. Then we’ll hire security.
[ Scoffs ] And how suspicious will that look? Valentin leaves, he takes his bodyguard with him, and then all of a sudden, weeks later, we have security 24/7? So I’ll move back in. That’s a terrible idea. Why? Uh, three words for you — michael and willow.
[ Scoffs ] Oh, we’re fine now. Yeah, “fine” is a far cry from shacking up together. You sure you want to do that to yourself? Yeah. I would for you. And — and bailey. That means a lot to me, but, um, I just don’t think that’s a good idea. Have you talked to maxie about this? Because you can’t just take her daughter halfway across the globe. Okay, well, that’s why we’re having this conversation. We have to come up with an alternative, and stat. Because my grandmother is right about one thing. Peter will only grow more dangerous as his prison time approaches, okay? And — and if he figures it out like tracy did, everyone in this house could be at risk. Well… you see a soul in there? I’m coming up empty. But if you still have a heart, you’ll let me know where my granddaughter is. Come on. You’re a pi. Can’t you find her yourself? This is a joke to you, isn’t it? All the lives that you’ve taken, the families that you’ve destroyed.
My family is destroyed. Who answers for that? Well, hopefully you! Oh, my god. Peter, don’t you take responsibility for anything? It was your lies that drove maxie away. And what did you do? Try to change? No, you doubled down and — and had her kidnapped, hired a deranged nurse to induce maxie’s labor. Who does that?! I love maxie. Felicia, all I wanted was for us to be together. You believe that, don’t you? That this is all coming from a good place. Because it was! If w– if all of you hadn’t poisoned her against me, I never would have had to go to such extremes. Well, at least you admit that it’s extreme. You know what the sad thing is? That there were people that really cared about you, people that believed in you — anna, valentin, maxie, james.
[ Chuckles ] And instead of living up to that love, you let them down. Oh, and you certainly wouldn’t know anything about letting people down, would you… princess? And then the ambulance took austin and me back to G.H. And, well, I mean, you know the rest. Yeah. And austin doesn’t remember anything after he was knocked unconscious? Not as far as I know.
[ Sighs ] I don’t know what I’m missing. Peter spirits you away so that you can all be a family again. Who else would take louise and why, you know? Didn’t peter say he had information on where louise is? Oh, he’s lying. You know, he’s just trying to trade information on the disappearance of your daughter to get out of his long prison sentence that he’s facing. Or he’s using her as a bargaining chip. Anything’s possible, I suppose. But the forensics went through those woods with a fine tooth comb. There’s no outside witnesses. There’s no other evidence. Peter, if he had an accomplice, then… I don’t know. I mean, they were a magician. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be flip, but just all of it. It just — it just always just leads me back to the last people that saw louise, which were you and austin.
Before I forget… what’s this? It’s — it’s for you. Scout drew it. It’s you.
[ Gasps ]
[ Chuckles ] Oh! I totally see the resemblance. Well, you gotta, uh, look at it on the right angle. Yeah, no, no. I get it. I think. Oh, man, this is awesome. Thank you. Of course. She wanted you to have it. So… well, it’s getting prime real estate on the fridge, that’s for sure. Really? You think the cook’s gonna allow that? Like she’s got a choice. Yeah, I’ll do lots of begging. How about that? Good luck with that. Hm. Hey, I’m, uh… I’m sorry I almost lost it out there. Are you kidding me? I am impressed that I didn’t walk in on you strangling victor. Yeah, me too. I mean, restraint has never really been my forte, has it? Wow. The new and improved drew, huh? New? Sure. Improved? Well, we’ll see. Hey, I wanted to meet up because… I ran into valentin. What’d he want? It seems that he’s already got what he wants. My elq shares. Every time somebody asks me about that day, I feel like I did something wrong. Oh, come on, maxie. No one’s blaming you. You were kidnapped. You were forced to give birth in the middle of the woods. I’m sorry. I’m just — I’m just trying to process things out loud, that’s all. Yeah. Um, if you’ll excuse me for a minute. Are you alright? Yeah, yeah. I just — I need a minute.
[ Sighs ] Was, uh — was that maxie jones? Was that an altercation with drew cain? Well, more of a misunderstanding. I’m sure you’re misunderstood. Ah. Finally, someone who gets me. I am not in the mood. What do you want? Well, I thought as my shadow you’d already know. Or were you too busy discomforting maxie? She is no business of yours. A damsel in distress is always the business of a man of chivalry. It may come as a surprise to you, but we’ve all moved on from the ’50s. What was she upset about? Like I said, maxie is none of your business. Time is of the essence, peter. What’s the key to getting drew cain to tell me what I need to know? First, you get me maxie and my daughter. It’s called compassion, anna. It’s dreadful what happened to maxie’s baby, isn’t it? And what the hell do you know about my baby? So we agreed — no amsterdam. No amsterdam. But bailey and I still have to go somewhere. What are you thinking? I don’t know. Maybe the metro court? I mean, hotels have security. No? Too many people, too few questions. It doesn’t scream “safe” to me. Okay, well, I could talk to uncle sonny. What, just… tell him the whole story? Good point. Look, we have to come up with something. I promised maxie that I would keep bailey safe. And I just — I cannot fail now. I have an idea. Tell me. A place that has 24-hour security provided by a trained officer of the law. You don’t mean…? Move in with me.
Gonna tell you about the shares once you got settled in. I figured you had a lot to deal with. Thank you. I mean, as you know, I’ve never been super involved at elq. But living at monica’S… and now your family’s probably all over you. Pretty much, yeah. And you can only use the excuse “I was being held captive” for so long, you know?
[ Chuckles ] Not that funny. No. Anyway, I, uh — I really wanted to get caught up to speed, and I thought maybe you’d be the right person to fill me in. How did valentin of all people end up with my shares? Um… scout’s shares were in a trust. And then things with shiloh came to a head, and I went to prison. I heard about that. I’m so sorry. Yeah, me too. It was — it was really tough on the kids. I can imagine. And — and you were eventually paroled, right? Yeah. But it — it came with a condition. I couldn’t have contact with anyone that had a criminal record. Meaning… you weren’t allowed to see jason. Can we put it up to re-acclimation? I just got out of prison, for pete’s sake. Might be some time before I’m “on” again. You were plenty “on” when I visited you in said prison. Now that you’re a free man, it’s all doom and gloom? I don’t buy it. Will you cut me some slack? Life on the outside isn’t exactly one big party for me. Alright? I-I no longer have a husband. His family’s furious with me, which makes like half this town off-limits. Oh, a-and get this. Turns out, labs aren’t too keen on hiring baby-napping ex-cons.
[ Scoffs ] Shocker! So my career is just as done as my marriage. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to be insensitive. You’re right. Coming back to this new reality is… a lot. A lot. A lot. Hey, I-I’m here to talk or scream or whatever you need me to do, okay? Thanks. At least we have each other, right? I have missed you.
[ Exhales sharply ] I’ve missed you, too. I’m just still… processing, I guess. Okay, but no pressure. Could you maybe process a little faster? I went out with this new wingman the other night, and let’s just say he could stand to take a lesson from the O.G. Maxie. Please, sit down. It’s, uh, lovely to see you again. Yeah, the feeling is definitely not mutual. Oh, I’m sorry. Something I said? More like things that you’ve done, especially teaming up with peter. So let me repeat — what exactly do you know about my daughter? Well, only that peter was anguished by her disappearance and desperate to get her back. You don’t think he was putting on a show? Oh, god, no. Not about his daughter. No. His only aim was to reunite his family. Right. There you have it. Peter is looking for louise also. Peter will never get his hands on louise. Do you hear me? Never. You certainly are formidable, aren’t you? Don’T. I will do anything to protect my child. And I sincerely hope you get her back.
[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, excuse me. Oh, my son can’t make lunch. He’s been held up. Well, ladies, it’s, uh — it’s been a pleasure. Wish I could say the same. Don’t call me princess. Peter: It’s true, isn’t it? I mean, after all, you are…royalty. And just like most royalty, you just can’t escape the mundane, bored you. Being a wife, hmm? Being a mother. No, dullsville, right? You wanted to seek out adventure, go travel the world. And while you were busy doing all of that, your daughters were growing up without you. You’re a nasty piece of work. I can be. There. See how easy it is to admit who we truly are? You try. Go ahead. Give it a try. I made mistakes. Mistakes? Is that what you call being M.I.A. While your child is murdered? You know, you can come at me all you want, felicia, but I know what this is truly about — your pathetic attempt to try and make up for your failures as a parent. I would never fail my daughter that way. Well, I guess we’ll never know, will we? Because of you, louise may be lost forever. But what if louise isn’t lost? What if… I can lead you straight to her? Chase: I’m bailey’s father. The two of you coming to live with me, it would be brilliant.
[ Sighs ] If you do say so yourself. Come on. It would help sell the idea of us co-parenting. No. What? That’s it? Just no? What would people say, chase? You have a one-bedroom apartment. Yeah, with a very comfy couch, which you’re already acquainted with. It’s not practical. I’m kidding. You can have the bed this time. Look, I-I did and I still do really appreciate you letting me crash, but we weren’t exactly the best of roommates, and this time we’d have a whole nother human with us. Bailey would need her own space. Ideally, yes. Then let’s get something bigger. You mean like rent a place together? That’s actually not a terrible idea. Gee, thanks. And I bet lucy could help us find a temporary rental. I mean, it would keep tracy at bay, allow maxie more time with her daughter, and bailey would be that much harder for peter to find. Has anyone ever told you you are a genius? No. Well, you are.
[ Knock on door ] Dr. Gatlin-holt. Not sure if you remember me. Victor cassadine. I remember you. You’re the first person that peter august asked to speak to when he woke up. Just so. I do apologize for the intrusion. Uh, a nurse told me I might find my son in here. Clearly — clearly, she was mistaken. Yeah, valentin split probably a half-hour ago. You want to step outside, you can text him. Do you, uh — do you have a moment? Mm… no, not — not really. I’m curious as to what first made you suspect brook lynn quartermaine was lying about her baby’s paternity. Each cassadine is worse than the last. Valentin excluded, obvi. Well, he certainly had his moments, but he’s come a long way. And victor, as vile as he is, he did give us reason to rule peter out. He doesn’t have louise. Okay, um, so what do we do now? I have an idea, but I’m gonna need your help. If I did pull valentin’s coat to the idea that brook lynn was lying, why — why — why would that be any of your business? That’s pretty straightforward, really. Uh, may I? You see, valentin is my son, and little bailey was passed off as my granddaughter. Now, valentin is neither naive nor particularly trusting, yet he was thoroughly convinced, and you were the one who opened his eyes to the, uh, unfortunate truth. How do you know all this? I make it my business to… know things, especially where my family is concerned. Right. Why not just talk to valentin about it? Well, I was a little… hesitant to reopen an old, painful wound that’s only just beginning to heal over. Personally, I think valentin’s letting brook lynn off way too easily. I urged him to retaliate. And here I thought that was my great big idea. So you mean valentin is going to move against brook lynn? We’re talking about it, yeah. We’re discussing options. Which brings me back to my original question. What made you first suspect that brook lynn was lying? W-why did I think brook lynn was lying? [ Laughs ] Because she’s a manipulative, scheming person, and she only thinks about herself, the quartermaines, and elq stock, and she nearly cost me my position here on staff, and she definitely cost me my rightful claim to my father’s inheritance. Well, I’m sorry you had so much trouble. But at least it gives you the advantage of knowing clearly who brook lynn really is. Mm, yes, no, I know clearly. I know more than valentin. And maxie, too. I’m sorry. Did you say maxie? I should be a genius more often. Don’t let it go to your head. Look, I’m gonna, um… I’m gonna go talk to the nanny and get bailey’s things ready. Yeah, I’ll text, um, lucy for some listings. Okay.
[ Sighs ] What? There’s one problem we didn’t consider. Just one?
[ Scoffs ] What is my dad gonna say? He wasn’t exactly happy the first time I crashed with you, and he’s the one who kicked me out. Actually, we’re on way less shaky ground now, so don’t worry. I’ll help you come up with a believable reason for our move and… under one condition. What? You spring for a house cleaner this time. After we lost you, valentin made me an offer, and he holds the voting proxy for danny and scout until each of them turn 21. And in exchange valentin cleared the way for you to see jason. Yeah. Look, it was never meant to be permanent. No, I get it. I do. You were prioritizing getting your family back together. Exactly. Isn’t that ironic, though? I went through… all those lengths to keep my family together… and it just all fell apart. What happened there, if you don’t mind me asking?
[ Inhales sharply ]
[ Sighs ] Um… I guess the simplest way to put it… …is I changed, and he couldn’T. He was committed to sonny and his business, and I needed security for myself and my family. Like what we had when we started aurora. Aurora. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. And like what you have now with dante. Yeah, with dante, there’s a — there’s a balance, you know? There’s a sense of adventure there that I-I still have without putting myself or the kids at — at risk. A win-win. Yeah. Anyway, my deal with valentin was obviously contingent on your death, and you are very much alive. So if you want… your shares back, I’m — I’m sure there are grounds for that. My family would be happy. What matters is if you’re happy. Well, when I figure out what makes me happy, I’ll let you know. Hello. [ Scoffs ] Did you hear what I said? You’re, uh, replacing me with a new wingman. No. Well, I might have to if you don’t tell me what is wrong. I just did. What else is wrong? This is more than just reentry, and we both know that. I’ll stay here all day if I have to.
[ Sighs ] I’m afraid of my aunt.
[ Scoffs ] That’s ridiculous. She can’t dictate your life. Actually, she can. Because she’s letting you stay with her? Forget it. Stay with me.
[ Scoffs ] Yeah. I think you’re forgetting who my aunt is.
[ Chuckles ] Sorry, I — I’m a product of cesar faison and liesl obrecht. I’m not easily intimidated. Well, maybe you should be. What aren’t you saying?
[ Sighs ] My aunt is very… skilled at getting people to do her bidding. People like you? S-she made me do something horrible, and I don’t want anyone associated with me to pay the price.
I don’t believe you. Oh, but even if there’s a chance I’m telling the truth, isn’t it up to you to do everything in your power to ensure maxie can hold her child again? Or are you just gonna… let her fend for herself, like always? Truth or not, how do I fit in? Well, being the wife of the police commissioner, you’re in a unique position to ensure I’m treated fairly. If by “treated fairly” you mean exonerated… I’d rather see you executed first. Ah, yes, but then you’d be discarding all hope of ever seeing your granddaughter. I don’t believe you. You’re a liar. Just like your father. But guess what. I stood up to faison, and I faced down ryan chamberlain, and I cannot wait to see you end just as pathetically as they did. You know, when maxie was pregnant with louise, we used to stay up together late at night and we’d lie there and talk about the future. Maxie always said the key to raising a happy, healthy child was to remember how you mothered her and then do the opposite. Your soul isn’t lost. Oh, no? Clearly, I was looking for something that never existed.
[ Door opens ]
[ Chuckles ] So, if we get you back to pautuck, and I know this is going to be hard, we’ll get you into the woods and maybe you could relive the night that you gave birth to louise. If you’re comfortable with that. I-it might help jog your memory. Um…if you think that will help. I do. Great. Okay. So, I’ll make arrangements for both of you as soon as possible. Wait, I’m sorry. Um, who — who else is coming? Austin. I just think that it would be helpful to tap into his memory as well. I just saw maxie. Oh, tragic, her child going missing like that. I must say, I am in awe of that woman’s strength and courage. Maxie’s incredible. She’s an incredible person. And, uh, brook lynn… is just gonna be brook lynn. She’s gonna take advantage of her. So…maxie jones is another of brook lynn’s victims? I mean… I don’t know. I don’t think maxie would put it quite like that. You know, I-I — maxie insists that they’re friends, which just makes zero sense because maxie also admitted to me that not too long ago, they couldn’t stand each other. So I wonder what changed. Maxie has a huge, gaping hole in her heart, and brook lynn is allowing her to spend some time with the baby. So, y-you’re saying that brook lynn used bailey to take advantage of maxie, the way she did with valentin? I-I don’t think that maxie would put it exactly like that. I — [ Sighs ] I think if — if the circumstances were different, if the circumstances were better, then maxie you would see brook lynn more clearly for who she is. But losing louise, that’s hard, and I think spending a little time with bailey eases that pain. Hmm. And that works out really well for brook lynn because most people don’t trust brook lynn as far as they can throw her. And having maxie as a friend and as a defender, I think people are more likely to give brook lynn a second chance. So what I’m hearing is maxie’s friendship is an asset that brook lynn is not willing to give up, which means that maxie could well be the key to getting back at brook lynn. I think I found the perfect listing. Look. Ooh. That’s a little out of my price range, brook lynn. Oh, please. Granny said she’s committed to my safety, so let her put her money where our mouth is. Besides, it’s way cheaper than moving me across the globe, so she should really be thanking me. Okay. Let’s do it. Yeah? Yeah. First, we have to talk about boundaries. Ground rule number one.
[ Clears throat ] You put your socks away this time, and I will not be watching “the bachelorette.” Oh, you will, and you will love it. Okay, just don’t tell anyone, alright? Okay. And let’s talk about your protein powder that gets everywhere. I love that stuff. Yeah, well, try using it without making such a mess. M– you want to talk to me about a mess? I’m a woman, chase. I have a lot of things. Too many, if you ask me. Well, I didn’T.
[ Chuckles ] I’m gonna… go check on dante. Tell him I said hello. I will. Hey, thanks for coming. Yeah. Always. Um… I know I’ve — I’ve said this to you already, and I’ll probably say it a hundred more times, but I’M… I am really, really glad that you’re back. And I’M… really happy that we were able to maintain this relationship. Some things are unbreakable. Our bond is one of them. Yeah. You’re legitimately shaken up about this. Whatever it is, brad, it — it can’t be that bad.
[ Scoffs ] Oh, it is. Try me.
[ Sighs ] I’m an ex-con, right? Yeah, so am I. Big whoop. So my previous crimes were nothing compared to this. It’s gonna — it’s gonna come back to haunt me. I j-just know it is. In a way…it already has. Hey, you’re starting to scare me now. What did you do? And what does this have to do with your aunt? I can’t tell you. You’re going to hint at this horrible thing, imply that associating with you will put me in danger, and — and then not tell me about it? Just leave it alone, please? I thought we were best friends. We are. Okay, then let me help you.
[ Whispers ] I poisoned peter august. Sorry. What? I poisoned peter august.
