Hope: My mom and ridge are facing a challenging time, and I just don’t want anyone to try to take advantage of that.
Steffy: Hold on. Take advantage?
Hope: I am not saying that you would, but if we’re going off of track record…
Steffy: It’s like you didn’t hear a word I just said. Nobody dictates my father’s choices or my mother’S. Especially when it comes to my family.
Taylor: Okay, kids, that’s enough. I hear that you’re both very concerned about your parents and that is touching and admirable. But, but I’m standing right here. Okay, this is… this is awkward. And hope, I’m still not sure what’s going on with your mom, but if she needs any help, I’m here.
Brooke: Ridge, you need to go to the office. That appointment’s been rescheduled two times. Come on, you don’t need to babysit me.
Ridge: I just told you, I’m never leaving you again.
Brooke: I didn’t know that you meant that literally.
Ridge: Yeah, if you need me to be here, I’m going to be here.
Brooke: What I need is to figure out why I started drinking.
Ridge: We will. We’ll figure it out together. Most important thing is now you’re going back to meetings, and you’ve recommitted to your sobriety. So that’s good.
Brooke: Right. Yes. Mm-hm. And what happened on new year’s is never going to happen again. Ever.
Grace: Paris, this place is amazing.
Paris: Right?
Grace: Apparently, everyone would say the same about you. Especially eric forrester. He’s so charming and handsome.
Paris: Mom.
Grace: I’m just saying, it’s obvious he respects you and the work you do. I am so proud of you.
[ Paris giggling ]
Carter: Oh, sorry.
Paris: Oh hey, carter, this is my mom.
Carter: Yeah, uh, hello. Dr. Buckingham.
Grace: Carter. Carter walton. We finally meet.
Carter: It’s a pleasure, dr. Buckingham.
Grace: Please, call me grace. Hard to believe this is our first meeting, carter.
Carter: Well, I’ve heard a lot about you. Distinguished medical professional, admired and adored by both your daughters.
Grace: And I’ve heard a lot about you too… from both my daughters.
Carter: I hope zoe is doing well.
Grace: Yes, she’s very busy. Travelling, working, moving on with her life. And I missed paris, so I’m here in L.A.
Paris: And I love having you here. It’s been a wonderful surprise.
Carter: Yeah, paris has missed having family in town.
[ Ridge sighing ]
Ridge: I don’t want you to feel like I’m leaving you.
Brooke: Oh, gosh, no, I don’t feel like that at all. I mean, you went to a meeting with me. You helped by removing all of the alcohol from the house. You’ve been incredibly loving and supportive. I appreciate that. But really, you’ve got to go to the office.
Ridge: Yeah.
Brooke: You’ve gotta go to work. I…I’m fine. I can be on my own.
Ridge: You’re okay?
Brooke: Yes, I am.
Ridge: You know what I love? That we can say anything to each other, right? No holding back.
Hope: Thank you for offering to help, but what my mother needs right now is stability and security.
Taylor: Okay. And do you think that I’m upsetting that somehow?
Steffy: I think brooke is threatened having you back in town.
Hope: No, no, that’s not what this is about at all.
Steffy: Good, because my father is welcome here anytime. You have to remember he has two families.
Hope: Oh, okay. Well, I thought we were one big family. Isn’t that what we’ve been telling the kids? That we’re all connected? Or has that changed?
Taylor: No, hope, steffy is just explaining the complexity of the situation. Ridge is married to your mom, but we also have children together and we have grandchildren that live right here. And for the time being, so do I. So, ridge and I are going to see each other often. But, hope, I did not come back to L.A. To break up ridge’s marriage to your mother. A lot of people think dealing with copd
Paris: Mom might not be just visiting. She is thinking about relocating to los angeles.
Carter: Really?
Grace: Yes. I’m fielding some interesting offers.
Paris: Yeah, like one at university down the street.
Grace: I haven’t given an answer yet, but I am considering it.
Paris: She’s going to say yes.
Carter: Clearly, paris hopes that you do.
Paris: Yeah, I’d be thrilled.
Grace: That’s what a mother likes to hear.
Carter: I hope everything works out for you.
Grace: Yeah, me too. It would be a great opportunity. Gives me a chance to keep an eye on my girl here. Not that she needs it. My daughters do know how to take care of themselves. They are driven and resilient.
Carter: I know. It’s what made paris such a good choice for her position at the foundation.
Paris: I told you carter recommended me for it.
Carter: And everyone’s grateful that I did. Paris has really supercharged the foundation and integrated philanthropy into so many aspects of the company. We’re lucky to have her. She has a huge fan club here.
[ Steffy sighing ]
Steffy: I didn’t mean for things to get contentious with hope. I try not to do that anymore.
Taylor: Oh, I get it. You both made valid points.
Steffy: It’s just tough, you know, now that deacon’s back.
Taylor: He’s causing trouble for everyone.
Steffy: Yeah, that’s why I’m so frustrated. Hasn’t dad had enough? Brooke just expects him to be okay having deacon over at her house, and he’s constantly reminded of her indiscretion.
Taylor: I don’t think brooke wants anyone thinking about that.
Steffy: Well, she’s not doing anything to stop it. She’s practically throwing it in dad’s face. Inviting deacon over, having him over on new year’s eve, she doesn’t care about dad’s feelings.
Taylor: I understand your frustration, but your dad made his choice a long time ago.
Steffy: Yeah, he made the wrong one. He has to see that. We’re still a family, we’re a wonderful, supportive family, but dad can’t seem to tear himself away from the logans and all of their drama.
Ridge: No matter what’s going on, we can handle this. That’s going to be tough to process because you don’t know exactly what happened.
Brooke: I wanted to be with you. I was excited to spend the new year’s with you, and then when that didn’t happen… my emotion… I lost all control.
Ridge: Well, you’re back in control now. If you need me to be here, I’ll be here.
Brooke: Well, you really do have that appointment to get to.
Ridge: I don’T…
Brooke: I made a mistake. One that will never happen again. I have too much respect for you and for our life together. Thank you. Thank you for being so compassionate and making me feel safe. Supported. I love you so much.
Ridge: Love you. I know this is your battle to fight, but I’m going to be right by your side. I needed to hear that. Napoleon was born and raised to conquer.
Paris: I don’t think the goals for the company and the foundation are exclusive. Look at the hope for the future, for instance, from the very beginning, she’s wanted to make sure her brand made a difference. And I think it really–
Ridge: So, I ran into dad in the building and he said we have a special guest today.
Paris: Ah, yes. Ridge forrester, meet my mom, dr. Grace buckingham.
Ridge: Oh, doctor, a pleasure.
Grace: You too. I have to give you my sincere apologies, just like I did to eric earlier for what happened between my ex-husband and hope and your daughter. Words can’t begin to express how horrified I was at what reese did and the pure agony he’s caused your family.
Ridge: That was in the past. Um, beth is where she needs to be, and we’re trying to focus on more positive things. Like your beautiful daughter here, who I think has shown you around the building already.
Grace: Yes, it was fascinating.
Ridge: See, if we had known you were coming, we would’ve had some flowers–
Grace: Well, it was a surprise. Zende helped set it up. He is a very impressive young man and a fine designer as well.
Ridge: And very fond of your daughter.
Grace: Yes. That’s apparent.
Ridge: So, where are you staying?
Grace: At a hotel–
Paris: With me. I insist. It’s not fancy, but it’s comfortable and it’s close by and with thomas gone, I would love the extra company.
Grace: Wow. More time with my daughter, who can say no to that? Thank you, honey.
Paris: Of course. Did you leave your bag with security?
Grace: Yeah, in one of the offices.
Paris: Well, we can get it on the way out.
Grace: Okay. Well, it was wonderful to meet you all.
Ridge: See you soon.
Carter: Hopefully, we’ll see you again soon.
Paris: You can count on it.
Taylor: Your father knows his own mind.
Steffy: Well, I don’t get it. I really don’T. And I can’t accept it. Yeah, dad made a choice. But you can’t tell me that he’s happy. Really? Arguing with brooke about deacon, being forced to accept him in his life, in his home?
Taylor: Yeah.
Steffy: Come on.
Taylor: No, I know your father is not happy about that.
Steffy: No, he’s not. And maybe I wouldn’t have an issue with it if it was just that. But dad always made concessions to brooke and the logans.
Taylor: Yeah, but he doesn’t see it that way.
Steffy: Well, you know, it’s weird. It just, it just goes against everything I was brought up to believe. Being a kind human, being, being a good person. It’s like upside down world.
Taylor: It’s all true. It’s all good.
Steffy: Then why isn’t dad with you? You’re a good person. You’re a doctor, you spent your life taking care of others.
Taylor: Well, sure, but honey, those things come with their own reward, it doesn’T…
Steffy: But it doesn’t make a difference to dad. That’s it. I’m co-ceo forrester creations. The company has never been more successful. You have thomas creating amazing designs, carrying on the forrester legacy. Dad should be proud of that, but it’s like he’s not. He’s just… too busy with them. The logans. Why?
Brooke: I don’t need looking after, but thank you.
Hope: Well, you’re welcome. So where was ridge heading off to?
Brooke: The office. And I’m glad he went. Because he doesn’t have to stay here with me. And neither do you, honey.
Hope: Well, I’m here because I want to be, and I know that you would do the same for me.
Brooke: I don’t mean to sound ungrateful. I really do appreciate all of your support. Means a lot to me.
Hope: I’m just happy that you’re accepting it and that you’re being open and honest about what you’re going through. And I just want you to know that it is all right to lean on us for support. I mean, we’re here if you need it.
Brooke: Okay, thank you, I will.
Hope: I do have one question, though, and… I-I don’t want it to upset you, but… I need to know.
Brooke: What is it?
Hope: It’s about my dad.
Hope: There’s more going on than I know, isn’t there?
Brooke: I don’t know what you mean.
Hope: You say that you want deacon out of your life, fine. But what I don’t understand is the complete 180, and I am not saying this, mom, to put you on the spot or to make you feel uncomfortable, especially now. But I haven’t heard from my dad since new year’s eve, and now you’re saying that you don’t even want to talk about him.
Brooke: Honey. I need to move forward. It’s not healthy for me to look back.
Hope: Mom. Did you say something to him? Did you tell deacon to stay away?
Brooke: Oh my god. We kissed. You can’t be here anymore. You can’t come here, deacon.
Deacon: What?
Brooke: That’s ridge. He’s pulling in. We gotta– you gotta get out of here. You gotta go. You can’t come back, deacon. Ever!
Hope: Or is this because you drank on new year’s eve? Wait a second, are you… are you blaming dad for you relapsing that night? Because he was gone before that happened, right? I mean, mom, you… you know, you didn’t have to be alone. You could have… you could have called me and I would have gladly been here to support you. I should have been here to–
Brooke: Honey, what happened that night had nothing to do with you.
Hope: I know, it feels that way. It feels like it all began to unravel the minute I invited dad back into our lives, and now he’s gone once again and I haven’t heard from him and I don’t know why. So, mom, please, if… if something happened between you and dad, could you just tell me? Because I really need to know.
Taylor: Brooke is obviously going through something right now, and that’s going to be a priority for your father, but… that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you or appreciate our family.
Steffy: But brooke and the logans always come first.
Taylor: Yeah, well, he is worried about brooke and hope for good reason. Hope was really stressed about her mom.
Steffy: I don’t want anything bad to happen to brooke. But if she’s in trouble, odds are she brought it on herself.
Taylor: Yeah. Hope’s reaction makes me think it’s something serious.
Steffy: Well, you know what that means, dad’s going to get caught up in all of the drama. I get that he cares about brooke, but it’s like his own happiness doesn’t matter.
Taylor: Honey, I… your father has been happy.
Steffy: No, he’s not. He cannot be happy with this whole deacon situation. It is crazy. It’s absurd. Dad has like no support over there. That’s why I’m so furious. I get that hope needs her father. But hey! I need my dad too. And so does thomas.
Taylor: I know, sweetie, I’m so sorry, and I… I hate that our family was torn apart all those years ago. But, it was also circumstance, bad luck.
Steffy: No, not all of it. It’s not fair. I know you said that you’re staying here for good and… mom, I really hope you mean it. Because I need you. I do. Thomas needs you too. And I know dad does. I really do. Yes, the people you worked with, they counted on you, but that wasn’t the only reason you stayed away. Now that you’re back, I mean, you see what’s happening. This is crazy. And I’m not asking you to compete for a man, that is the last thing I want. Do not want that. But I want you to fight. Fight for your family. And I wouldn’t be saying this if I didn’t think you cared about dad, but mom, come on, it is obvious you love him. It is so obvious. And deep down, I know dad loves you too. So, like whatever is going on over at brooke’s, maybe it’s about deacon. Or maybe it’s some other scandal. If dad’s in harm’s way, we need to get him out of there for his sake. He needs to be with his family. He needs to be with you, me, thomas. Not the logans. Dad needs to be with the forresters.
