Spencer: Do you think we can put the past behind us? Start fresh? Is it possible we can declare a truce?

Ava: I appreciate the offer, Spencer. But you don’t have to worry about forging a relationship with me. I’m out of Nikolas’ life now.

Spencer: It didn’t look that way a little while ago.

Jason: Hey, you ready to go?

Carly: One second. Okay. All set. Are you ready for this?

Jason: For Wiley’s birthday party? Sure. And I even managed to get all the gifts in the car.

Carly: There weren’t that many. And you know what I’m talking about. This is our first family thing as a couple.

Jason: Are you nervous?

[ Knock on door ]

Willow: Come in.

Michael: Well, uh… ah?

Willow: Oh, thank you!

Michael: No problem.

Willow: [ Laughs ] I thought I’d have to break out the masking tape.

Michael: Yeah, I’m surprised I found any at all, considering the piles of presents already at the house, not to mention the decorations, so… a

Willow: Are we spoiling him?

Michael: Oh, yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Well, today, anyway. I mean, it’s Wiley’s birthday, right? So we get a pass.

Willow: [ Chuckles ]

Michael: Let him have all of his presents and balloons.

Willow: Don’t forget the cupcakes.

Michael: Oh, never. He actually — he reminded me again this morning.

[ Both chuckle ]

Michael: No, everything’s all set for our birthday boy.

Brook Lynn: Wow! Look at you! Wow, look at this.

Chase: Ah, this is Olivia’s work. I just followed her around with a tape dispenser.

Brook Lynn: [ Chuckles ]

Chase: It is funny, though, how you just reappear right when the decorating is finished.

Brook Lynn: Timing is everything. I sent Yuri down to help.

Chase: Yeah, and good thing. I couldn’t hang that banner in this thing.

Brook Lynn: You’ll be out of it soon enough.

Chase: Not soon enough for me. I can’t wait to walk up to Willow and show her that I am back.

Shawn: Hey.

Sam: Hey!

Shawn: Thank you. Sam: I hope you don’t mind meeting me in the park. I had to drop Scout off at Lila’s Kids.

Shawn: Mind? I love it outdoors. Can’t get enough of it.

Sam: [ Chuckles ] I’m the same exact way. And it sure beats the exercise yard at Pentonville, I bet.

Shawn: Yeah, no doubt. So, why’d you want to meet?

Sam: I’m afraid I have bad news.

[ Knock on door ]

Nikolas: Hey. Are you okay? You sounded stressed on the phone. You mentioned Hayden. Have you heard from her?

Elizabeth: I wish, but no.

Nikolas: So, then what’s going on?

Elizabeth: Sam was here…asking about the time Hayden was shot.

Nikolas: And?

Elizabeth: And it made me remember something.

Nikolas: [ Scoffs ] Damn it! I knew this was gonna happen.

Chase: Look, Willow and I aren’t even living together. She’s at the gatehouse, and I’m upstairs. I don’t feel like we can really start our life together yet. And I’m so sick of this chair. I can’t do anything.

Brook Lynn: Excuse me, you’re the one who sang Bailey to sleep, which is more than I can manage. And she loved it, by the way.

Chase: Yeah, she did seem pretty blissed-out.

Brook Lynn: [ Chuckles ]

Chase: Which was puzzling to me because it took you so long to get her settled.

Brook Lynn: Oh, my god. Let it go. Man, this place really looks like a birthday party on steroids. See, you guys didn’t need my help. Besides, kids Wiley’s age are more interested in the boxes, anyway.

Chase: The boxes?

Brook Lynn: Whatever.

Chase: I bet you 50 bucks that this doesn’t hold a candle to the parties that you’ll throw Bailey.

[ Door slams ]

Brook Lynn: You’re on. Let’s see if Wiley’s more interested in the gifts or the boxes.

Valentin: Look who I found outside.

Brook Lynn: What the hell is he doing here?

Elizabeth: So, you know what I’m talking about?

Nikolas: Yeah, Sam spoke to me, as well. I told her I didn’t know where Hayden was and she should just leave it alone. The last thing I wanted was for her to come here and upset you with questions about your sister on top of everything else you’re dealing with.

Elizabeth: Too late. I’m upset. Sam said that Shawn Butler has spent all those years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Nikolas: I know. Alexis explained the situation. Of course Shawn shouldn’t have paid for something he didn’t do, but he pled guilty.

Elizabeth: Now that Shawn denies shooting Hayden, it’s made me wonder who did. And I remember something you said back then, something I didn’t want to believe — that you had Hayden shot.

Ava: Nikolas and I plan to keep our divorce civil and drama-free. But make no mistake, the marriage is over.

Spencer: Let me guess — Father doesn’t agree.

Ava: Well, you know your father. He wants what he wants and he doesn’t take “no” for an answer.

Spencer: Yeah. That sounds like him.

Jason: Who are you nervous about seeing?

Carly: [ Sighs ]

Jason: What? Is it Monica? ‘Cause I-I talked to her and we talked through everything, all the history with A.J., and she’s good —

Carly: Okay, I’m not nervous, nervous. Okay? I’m not. It’s just… it’s a transition, you know? All the family things that we’ve been to over the years — we’re now going as a couple. And I was… talking to Laura last night and — and, you know, wondering if so soon after Sonny and people’s perception might bother me and it might diminish my love for Sonny, and that’s just… hard for me, you know? And I — I know we have to get married, and I know it’s the right thing to do. It’s just really difficult.

Jason: We both know why we’re doing this. We made the best choice that we could. So now we just got to move forward with it.

Carly: I’m really glad you’re in this with me.

Austin: I’m here because Michael invited me. He said it was a family celebration.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, it’s just, um… you’re early.

Austin: Well, my mother always said if you’re on time, you’re late.

Brook Lynn: That makes no sense.

Austin: Do you argue with your mother?

Brook Lynn: All the time.

Austin: Do you win?

Brook Lynn: [ Sighing ] Okay.

Austin: Hi.

Chase: Hey, how’s it going? I’m Chase.

Austin: Hi, I’m Austin.

Valentin: I should have made the introductions. Sorry about that.

Monica: Well, Austin! I’m so glad you could make the family celebration. Have you met everybody?

Austin: Yes, I have.

Valentin: So it’s true, is it, Monica? Austin is a legitimate Quartermaine?

Willow: Uh, you can let go now.

Michael: Oh, yeah.  [ Clears throat ]

Willow: And that’s that.

Michael: Hey, Willow, you, uh… are you really okay?

Willow: Sure.

Michael: It’s just you’re, um… you know, going out of your way to make sure Wiley’s birthday celebration is happy and — and — and joyful, and, uh…I also know this is the anniversary of… your son’s death. And I’ve been thinking about him, too. For the longest time, I thought he was my son. So it’s — it’s… it’s a bittersweet day.

Willow: This morning when I was putting flowers on Jonah’s grave, the birds were singing so loudly, it felt like they were serenading him.

Michael: [ Breathes sharply ] And I wish we could’ve gone together, but, uh…

Willow: Chase was there.

[ Michael sighs ]

Michael: I’m just — I’m glad you — you weren’t alone.

Willow: It was Chase who told me my baby had died. He held me as that awful truth sunk in and I grieved. He comforted me and got me through this unimaginable time in my life. And I will always be grateful to him. But I wish that you had been with me at our son’s grave today.

[ Suspenseful music plays ]

Nikolas: Elizabeth, we both know I didn’t shoot Hayden.

Elizabeth: No, we don’t. I remember that time in the Floating Rib when I had asked you point-blank if you had done it, praying you’d say no. But you didn’t. You told me you had Hayden shot to protect me.

Nikolas: It was a long time ago. Emotions were high.

Elizabeth: H-Hayden was blackmailing us for the mess I made with Drew, lying to him to hold on to him.

Nikolas: There was plenty of upheaval back then. But when you were able to catch your breath and you asked me about Hayden again, I came clean and I admitted that I had been lying. Don’t you remember?

Sam: So, neither Nikolas or Elizabeth have any idea where Hayden is or how to find her. Any progress on finding Hayden’s mother?

Shawn: Nada. Naomi Dreyfus is not returning calls.

Sam: Okay, so we are back to square one.

Shawn: Well, Curtis said he’d check his notes from when he originally worked the case, but he didn’t sound too encouraging.

Sam: Well, what did we expect? This is a six-year-old cold case.

Shawn: Mm.

Sam:  It’s not — not impossible to turn up some new leads, but it’s gonna take some time. We’re gonna have to find some witnesses and try and jog their memories. I mean, the ones that are still alive, anyway.

Shawn: You’re thinking of Drew. Crazy, right? First, the man’s name is Jake Doe. Then he’s Jason Morgan. Then he turns out to be Jason’s twin, Drew Cain — the man you married and had a child with.

Sam: It’s pretty ironic, isn’t it? I mean, you were the one who was supposed to kill him that night.

Spencer: I can see that my father is struggling without you. Which is a real change, considering he insisted that your marriage was a sham and that the only reason he stayed with you was to preserve our family money. No offense.

Ava: None taken. That’s exactly how our marriage started. It was a cold-blooded business arrangement. Nikolas and I surprised ourselves, falling in love along the way. But the stalker has made it clear that he won’t stop as long as we’re together, and I will not risk Avery’s safety.

Spencer: Then you’re adamant about going through with the divorce?

Ava: Whether Nikolas likes it or not.

Spencer: Then why do you keep sending my father mixed signals?

Monica: Well, we’re still waiting for the DNA test results.

Valentin: So, is this a case of keeping our enemies close?

Monica: I don’t consider Austin an enemy.

Valentin: Ned and Michael do. Word to the wise — being a Quartermaine is a study in Darwinism. It’s survival of the fittest.

Austin: I try and stay reasonably fit.

Valentin: Having an ally helps.

Monica: Oh, let me guess. That would be you. Well, warnings, Austin. Warnings all around.

Valentin: I know what it’s like to be an outsider in a powerful family.

Brook Lynn: You know, I’ve been meaning to, uh, speak with you about Bailey. Excuse us.

Monica: Thank you so much for taking care of the decorations.

[ Doors close ]

Chase: Oh, yeah, of course.

Monica: Uh, can I get anybody something to drink?

Valentin: Is there really something you want to talk to me about or did you just want me to get away from Austin?

Brook Lynn: It was a big, fat attempt to stop you from sucking up to that interloper.

Valentin: Interloper? I thought I was the interloper.

Brook Lynn: Would you stop? What you need to do is back off, okay? If Austin is a real Q, you really think he’s gonna side with you over his family?

Valentin: We’ll see.

Brook Lynn: Overconfident much?

Valentin: I usually get what I want.

Brook Lynn: But not always.

Willow: Well, uh, we should get these back to the main house. Wiley will be up from his nap soon, and the guests will be arriving. I’ve got a shopping bag here…

Michael: Yeah, well, whatever doesn’t fit in the bag, I’ll carry.

Willow: Thanks. Next year, on Wiley’s birthday, Chase will be walking and you and I will be together.

Michael: Yeah. Yeah. Living here with Wiley. The three of us. I’ll, uh… I’ll wake you all up with a puppy.

Willow: And we’ll all cuddle up in the bed — puppy, too. Then we’ll come down and make birthday pancakes.

Michael: And we can all see Jonah and hear the birds. And then, uh, after the birthday celebration with family and Wiley’s worn out, then we put him and the puppy to bed. And then it’s our turn.

Willow: Next year.

Michael: Next year.

Elizabeth: I remember both conversations. The first one weighed on me, and I remember calling you and asking you to meet me at work.

Nikolas: Right, and we talked in the stairwell so no one would overhear us.

Elizabeth: I haven’t been able to sleep since you told me what you did to Hayden. I never asked you to do that.

Nikolas: Hayden — she’s gonna be fine. Alright? She’s awake. She’s talking. She doesn’t know that Jake is Jason.

Elizabeth: That doesn’t make it okay. You had her shot.

Nikolas: No, I didn’t. I lied.

Elizabeth: What?

Nikolas: Elizabeth, I lied. Shawn confessed that he’s the one that shot Hayden.

Elizabeth: Then why would you say you did it?

Nikolas: [ Sighs ] It’s — it’s stupid. I just… I wanted you to think that I would do anything for you.

Elizabeth: W-why? Why? To w-win points? What am I supposed to do with that? And if you lied about that, why should I believe you now?

Nikolas: Because Shawn confessed. Why would he confess if he wasn’t guilty? Elizabeth, I’m — I’m ashamed that I lied to you. I just… I wanted you to love me the way that I love you. I — I can see now that that’s not gonna happen.

Nikolas: You remember, right? I swallowed my pride and I told you the truth.

Elizabeth: Told me the truth? Or I told me what I wanted to hear? You need to be honest. We both know Shawn Butler didn’t shoot Hayden. Was it you?

Monica:  So, obviously, you have met Chase.

Austin: Thank you. Yes, I have. Um, so, Chase, where do you fit in to this whole Quartermaine puzzle?

Chase: I-I’m — I’m Willow’s husband. And Willow is Wiley’s mom. And Dr. Quartermaine has been kind enough to let me stay here while I recover. I really can’t thank you enough. I-I hope to be out of here soon.

Monica: Oh, you can stay as long as you want, Chase. And I don’t know whether you knew or not, but Austin is a new doctor on staff at General Hospital.

Austin: Yeah.

Chase: Oh, that’s great.

Austin: Yeah, it is. It’s great.

Monica:  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to check with Olivia, see if everything is ready.

Austin: Alright, Chase. From one outsider to the other, what do you think of these Quartermaines? Do I need to watch my back the way Valentin says?

Valentin: You see, presently, I have a beautiful new daughter and I am CEO of a company that is highly profitable, both of which I owe to you.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, well, don’t count your chickens.

Valentin: You really think the family’s gonna vote me out?

Brook Lynn: You really think you can stop us?

Valentin: I think you’re worried that I might.  I think you think that Austin’s going to prove himself and side with me. And that is why you are watching him like a hawk.

Brook Lynn: [ Scoffs ] Who says I’m watching Austin?

Valentin: I do. I can see that you are clearly shaken by that man.

[ Knocking ]

Carly: Willow?

Michael: Mm! Hey.

Carly: Hi!

Michael: Hi! Uh, Jason. Uh, we were just finishing wrapping up Wiley’s presents.

Carly: Oh, I can’t believe Wiley’s three! Okay, so where is the birthday boy?

Willow:  Uh, at the main house, probably waking up from a nap any minute now.

Carly: [ Chuckles ] Okay, well, Michael, why don’t you and Jason take up the presents? And I’ll hang out with Willow for a minute.

Michael: We can all go together if you — if you want.

Willow:  You — you go ahead. We’ll, uh, be there in a minute.

Michael: Okay.

Carly: What are you two doing?

Brook Lynn: I’m not shaken by Austin. As far as I’m concerned, the jury is still out on the guy. I mean, Austin delivers Maxie’s baby and then he lets the crazy nurse run off with Louise?

Valentin: After being knocked unconscious.

Brook Lynn: Well, yeah. But I just wonder if he knows more than he says. I mean, he just happens to be hiking through at the exact right time, at the exact moment that Maxie’s delivering the baby. And then it just so happens that he happens to own the house that Peter and — and that crazy henchwoman bring Maxie?

Valentin: You think Austin was involved in Louise’s kidnapping?

Brook Lynn: I won’t go that far. But let’s just say… I’m keeping an eye on the guy.

Chase: The Quartermaines have always been good to me. They have strong personalities, but big hearts.

Austin: That is not their reputation.

Chase: They’re an intense family and they take some getting used to. But they protect their own and they band together when it counts. If your claim is legit —

Austin: It is.

Chase: Then you’ll find your place. You can’t be thin-skinned, though.

Austin: Oh, I’m not worried about that. I’m not afraid of a little bloodletting. I’m a doctor. So, Chase, what do you do?

Chase: I’m a detective with the PCPD.

Austin: Super! Any leads on Maxie’s baby?

Ava: I am not sending your father mixed signals. Nikolas and I cannot be together, and I have been very clear with him about that.

Spencer: And yet I just saw you right here in, um… shall we say, a close moment.

Ava: I didn’t mean for that to happen.

Spencer: It doesn’t matter what you intend. It matters what you do.

Ava: Excuse me? Didn’t you just approach me requesting a truce? What happened to that olive branch?

Brook Lynn: What are you guys talking about?

Austin: Oh, you’re back. Where’s your better half?

Brook Lynn: Oh, Valentin’s feeding Bailey.

Chase: Austin was asking about the search for Maxie’s baby, which I can’t talk about, but, uh, how lucky was Maxie to have you hiking the woods that night?

Austin: No, no. I’m the lucky one. I’m so glad I was there. And Maxie did great, you know. The delivery was remarkably simple, given the circumstances. It’s only afterwards that things have become a little problematic — and only for me, really, because I keep having this peculiar dream. And in the dream, I’m there, I help Maxie to deliver her baby, I get conked on the head. And this is where the peculiar dream gets weird. I keep hearing these two women talking. Which is so weird because… Maxie was alone when — when I woke up.

Chase: Maybe your subconscious heard the fake nurse and Maxie.

Austin: Oh, maybe.

Willow: Michael and I are raising Wiley together. That’s all.

Carly: I know my son. Michael loves you. You telling me you don’t feel the same?

Willow: I couldn’t live with myself if I abandoned Chase when he needs me the most.

Carly: Okay, that’s because you’re a kind, loyal person. And I admire that about you, Willow. Sometimes the best of intentions can lead to the worst outcomes. You know, an act of kindness can actually do more harm than good. And lord knows, I’m in no position to pass out advice. I’ve made more than my share of mistakes and told more than my share of lies. And at the time, I told myself that I had a good reason. And I’m sure you do, too, but…[Chuckles] It’s clear Jason and I walked in on something.

Willow: Michael and I did not mean to —

Carly: And I’m just glad that it was us and not somebody else. You have a terrible poker face. It’s almost impossible for you to hide your feelings for Michael. And if I can see how much you love him, other people are gonna see it, too.

Michael: Hey, uh, you know, I think I should — I should go back for Willow. You know, she’s probably getting grilled by Mom.

Jason: Well, Willow told you to go, right?

Michael: Yeah, but I mean, you know Mom. She means well, but…

Jason: But what? Something on your mind?

Michael: [ Sighs ] Yeah, uh… you know, right? That I’m… I’m in love with Willow.

Jason: Okay. Does she, uh — she feel the same?

Michael: She only married Chase because of his health. And we, uh — we were waiting to tell him until he could walk again. I feel happy a-and — and guilty at the same time. I don’t know, I just never thought I’d be the “other man.”

Jason: Uh, don’t fault yourself for having feelings. Michael, you got to — you got to trust yourself. You’ll figure it out. You’ll make the right decision. I never have to worry about that with you.

Michael: Thanks. I’m glad for your vote of confidence. And I know — I know you have your own challenges you’re going through right now. You know, you can always — can always count on me.

Jason: I appreciate that. Now, about all these gifts…

Michael: Yeah, yeah. [ Chuckles ] No, it’s — it’s crazy, I know, but don’t worry, I’m not gonna go overboard like that all the time. Just — just one day. And the rest of the days, I’m — I’m — I’m gonna take a page out of your book. I hope I can give Wiley the same sense of self and confidence that you gave me when I was little.

Shawn: I was wondering when we’d talk about this. You know, get it out in the open. Yes, I was sent to deal with Drew. Well, he was Jake Doe back then and, you know, nobody really knew who he was or what he was up to. I was doing my job.

Sam: On Sonny’s orders.

Shawn: Well, I’m just glad Jordan made me miss my shot.

Sam: Yeah, me too. Or I wouldn’t have a daughter right now. Look, I’m glad we had a chance to clear that up.

Shawn: Yeah.

Sam: Okay. Back to square one. There is some good news. The garage is still there, and I can go back to the scene of the crime.

Shawn: Six years later? I guess…if you want to take a field trip.

Sam: [ Scoffs ] Come on, I know it’s a long shot, but it’s all we’ve got.

Shawn: Look, I’ll do a little more work on Naomi Dreyfus.

Sam: Look, Shawn… maybe it’s best if you don’t do this. You just got out of prison. Enjoy your life. Enjoy this park. I mean, don’t you want that? Don’t you want to start a future and make a life for yourself?

Nikolas: I did not have Hayden shot.

Elizabeth: Then who did? It wasn’t you — it wasn’t Shawn. Who tried to kill my sister?

Ava: Perhaps you’re unclear on the concept of “truce.” Or maybe you’re just too angry with me to make one work.

Spencer: Sorry. I didn’t mean to snap. I’m not angry. I am afraid for my father.

Ava: You’re afraid for Nikolas.

Spencer: This guy got into Wyndemere. He must be a criminal genius to get through the security detail. And then he got into your hotel suite. Whoever this guy is, he is a legitimate threat. I already lived through losing my father once. I don’t want to do it again. Please, Ava. Help me protect my father from himself.

Nikolas: We may never know who shot Hayden. You have to remember who she was back then. She arrived in town committing fraud. Ric paid her to feed Drew a lie about his past. I mean, she helped herself to a fortune in diamonds from the profits of her father’s Ponzi scheme. Who knows what enemies were after her? In or out of Port Charles.

Elizabeth: I really believe she wanted a fresh start here. Wasn’t until after she had Violet that she turned a corner.

Nikolas: I guess we turned a corner, too. You fell in love and married Franco. I married Ava and then fell in love.

Elizabeth: Happily ever after. At least for a little while. Until life got in the way.

Ava: Spencer, you don’t need to worry about your father. This divorce protects him, too. As long as we’re apart, the stalker has no reason to pay attention to Nikolas at all.

Nikolas: I’m so glad to hear you say that. Father sometimes makes rash decisions without understanding the consequence of his actions.

Ava: Yes, I know. But I am doing everything I can to protect my daughter and your father.

Nikolas: I appreciate it. But the stalker is unpredictable. I heard that Trina got doused with fake blood. What if next time it’s real?

Ava: You don’t have to keep reminding me, you know. I do know what’s at stake.

Nikolas: Then make him understand! Get your feelings out of this and make him stop fighting this divorce.

Willow: You’re not saying anything I don’t know in my head already. I don’t want to hurt Chase. I truly care about him. But my heart is with Michael, and it’s getting harder and harder to hide those feelings.

Carly: You’re in a tough situation. And so is Michael. I mean, you’re trying so hard to be generous and to do what seems kind and supportive, but… the heart’s tricky. Yeah, it can be selfish and strong-willed. And sometimes there’s no denying it or reasoning with it. Hearts are stubborn that way.

Willow: Yeah, I’ve never heard it put quite like that.

Carly: [ Chuckles ] Well, I know from experience. But you’re Wiley’s mom, and you’re family. And I’m always here if you need to talk.

Willow: Thanks. I, uh, suppose I should splash some water on my face before I head over.

Carly: Okay, I’m gonna go. I’m gonna get out of your hair.

Willow: Hey, Carly.

Carly: Mm?

Willow: I’m really happy to be part of your family. Growing up, that’s all I really wanted, was just to be accepted and loved for myself, even with my faults. My mom and I never had heart-to-heart talks like this.

Carly: Oh, you mean awkward and intrusive?

[ Both laugh ]

Carly: You’ve come to the right family, because that’s my specialty. [ Laughs ]

Valentin: How’s the lawsuit going?

Austin: Oh, it’s going great.

Valentin: Does your lawyer think you can win?

Austin: Yeah, I mean, I wouldn’t pursue contesting Edward’s will if I didn’t feel like I had a legitimate cause.

Valentin: You and I should have lunch, discuss ELQ under my continued leadership.

Austin: I do like lunch.

Chase: I’m kind of tired. I think I’m gonna go lie down before the party starts.

Brook Lynn: Okay. Do you need me to —

Chase: No, no, no. I can make it to the elevator.

Brook Lynn: Alright.

Chase: I just — I need a minute. I’ll be back in a bit.

Brook Lynn: This is so not good.

Monica: Well! More guests. And more presents.

[ Michael clears throat ]

Austin: Mm, cute.

Michael: Austin, hey.

Austin: Hey.

Michael: Glad you could make it.

Austin: Oh, thank you so much for inviting me.

Michael: Yeah. Valentin.

Valentin: Michael. Right on time. Austin and I were just discussing ELQ and how it’s currently thriving. It’s gutsy to change CEOs. Could affect the bottom line.

Michael: Well, it is a strong company. And one that was already thriving when you took the helm.

Monica: Okay, gentlemen, we’re not going to discuss business today.

Michael: No, no, no, no. I’m just — I’m just making my position clear to Austin so he knows where I stand. ELQ is a Quartermaine company that should be run by Quartermaines. Ned is the CEO ELQ needs, not Valentin.

Chase: Alright. You can do this. [Grunts]

Shawn: Part of me wants nothing more than to drop this and never look back. But then I see TJ and Molly, you know, full of hope and determination, you know… striving so hard to make a difference in this world. They’re something else.

Sam: I know that.

Shawn: And I ask myself, what — what can I do to make a difference? You know, maybe help put an attempted murderer behind bars where they belong instead of leaving them to get away with it.

Sam: Okay, but what about you and your fresh start?

Shawn: I want that. I want to build a better life for myself. And of course, I want to connect with my son. You know, be a real part of TJ’s life. But I’m also gonna find the person who tried to kill Hayden. I have to. Who knows how many other people they’ve hurt?

Elizabeth: You’re right about me having a lot on my plate right now. I’m glad to get this off of it. I hope you’re not mad at me for grilling you. I-I just had to know.

Nikolas: No, I’m glad I could put your mind at rest where I’m concerned. And you know… I’m always here for you if you need to talk. About anything.

Elizabeth: Thank you.

Nikolas: I do think it’s best for you to put that painful time behind you. I mean, life goes on, right?

Elizabeth: Yeah. Right.

Ava: You’re right, Spencer. You know, I have been holding on to the slightest hope. And then maybe even sending your father mixed signals, and that’s why Nikolas refuses to believe that this marriage is over. But that ends now. You know, he and I don’t even really need to speak to each other anymore. W-we can communicate through our lawyers.

Spencer: I think that’s best. And I humbly appreciate it. I’m sorry it has taken something as drastic as this current situation for me to see you for who you truly are.

Ava: Well, I’m glad that you and your father are on better terms now, Spencer. He missed you. And I know he’s so glad you’re back.

Spencer: I am, too. I can see I got here just in time.

Monica: Okay, ladies, I think we’ve waited long enough for the guest of honor. We need to get the party started.

Carly: Yes!

Monica: Where is the birthday boy?

Willow: Uh, taking an epic nap. But I’ll go wake him.

Carly: Oh, can I? I’ll take all the time I can get with my grandson.

Willow: Enjoy.

Carly: Thank you.

Brook Lynn: [ Chuckles ]

Willow: Where’s Chase?

Brook Lynn: Oh, he just needed to rest up before the party started, so…

Willow: Oh. When did he leave? Maybe I should check on him.

Brook Lynn: Oh, no, he’s fine. He’s gonna be back in a bit. Don’t worry. He’s fine.

Chase: Yes! Okay, how about a step?

Willow: I’m, uh, going to get Chase. He’s resting before the party, but I know he’ll want to be here when the birthday boy makes his big entrance.

Michael: Okay.

Willow: [ Sighs ]

[ Doorbell rings ]

Willow: I’ve got it! Oh.

[ Dramatic music plays ]

On the next “General Hospital” —
