Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph
Alex goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and greets Maggie, who is unpacking boxes. Maggie says she didn’t know he was coming by. Alex says Joy left some things at his place and he also wanted to see Kelsey. Maggie tells him that Kelsey is so special. Alex agrees and hugs Maggie, saying seeing her back in the mansion is a sight for sore eyes as the family wasn’t the same without her. Maggie says she missed them and thinks they got most of their staff back. They talk about the mansion staying in the family. Alex states that Victor would be proud. Maggie truly believes Victor was with them every step of the way.
Dante is in his room at the Salem Inn, on the phone with Sami. Dante says he wishes she was there in Salem and that everyone there misses her. Dante hangs up as there’s a knock at his door. Dante then opens the door and comes face to face with EJ.
Kristen wakes up in a chair in Rachel’s hospital room. Kristen sees Rachel isn’t there and wakes up Brady in the chair next to her to question where their daughter is.
Stephanie walks with Kayla at the hospital and says she can’t say she didn’t expect to be let go as PR for the hospital due to budget cuts, but says it would’ve been nice to be there to defend Sarah and undo some of the damage EJ did. Stephanie adds that she’ll miss just working with Kayla. Kayla tells her she’s always there for her, so Stephanie asks if she has time to listen now. Kayla asks her what’s up. Stephanie says she has another medical question for her.
Joy gets out of her wheelchair to check on Kelsey. Joy remarks that mansion living does have it’s perks even though she wasn’t thrilled to move out of Alex’s place. Joy points out breakfast in bed and fresh towels in the bathroom every morning. There’s a knock at the door, so Joy gets back in her wheelchair and tells them to come in. Philip comes in with her delivery that Roman said came to the Pub. The contents spill out, so Philip picks it up and questions why her father is prescribing her muscle relaxants.
Dante tells EJ that it’s good to see him again. EJ tells him not to lie, so Dante says he won’t and admits he’d like to throw him the hell out, but he knows Sydney loves him so he’ll behave. EJ is sure that Sami has filled his mind with all kinds of stories, but he doesn’t think that’s why he’s been avoiding him. EJ points out that they didn’t finish their chat from the other day, but there’s no time like the present.
Kayla reminds Stephanie that she told her that she didn’t think Joy was faking her paralysis. Stephanie asks what if Joy took meds that would interfere with her test results.
Joy claims to Philip that she aggravated an old injury while doing physical therapy. Philip questions why she didn’t just ask her doctors here. Joy says it’s easier to ask her dad and questions why he’s giving her the third degree. Joy tells him to say what he wants to say. Philip explains that the pills being sent to the Pub means her father doesn’t know she’s at the Kiriakis Mansion and guesses she still hasn’t told her family about the surgery and her condition. Joy thought they had an agreement that Philip would stay out of her family’s business. Philip says that he has been, but he’s concerned because her father would be missing a pretty vital piece of medical information. Philip questions if Joy is sure it’s safe to be taking the pills in her condition.
Brady tells Kristen that it’s fine and that Rachel was just taken for a CT scan, but she’s not awake yet. Kristen questions no one waking her up when Sarah came in with news about her daughter’s health. Brady calls Kristen unbelievable and says that Sarah has gone above and beyond for her including designating the room as no visitors so no one finds out that Kristen is there. Kristen admits she’s grateful for that. Brady says she should be thanking Sarah and him for tolerating her being there in the first place. Kristen argues that’s only because Rachel woke up and saw her. Brady admits that otherwise, he would’ve had her thrown out. Brady repeats that she’s welcome to stay until Rachel wakes up again but after that, she must go because he didn’t want her anywhere near there. Kristen tells him that she’s got it loud and clear. Brady questions if she understands. Kristen responds that if he really feels Rachel would be better off without her, then she will not fight him. Brady asks if that means she agrees to stay away from Rachel. Kristen confirms that’s what she said. Brady admits he wasn’t expecting that. Kristen says she’s sorry to disappoint if he expected a fight. Brady asks what the catch is as he’s not sold. Kristen brings up that Brady said something to her last night that was very hard to hear when he said Rachel feels her life would be better if she wasn’t around. Brady confirms that Rachel said that. Kristen responds that she did a lot of praying last night and admits there may be some truth in what Rachel is feeling. Kristen cries that she would hate to think she’s causing Rachel that much pain, so she made a deal with God that if he healed Rachel, she would face the truth that she was the one causing her this pain. Kristen declares that the most loving thing she can do as a mother is to step back, even if it means not being in Rachel’s life.
EJ tells Dante that it’s painfully obvious that he burrowed his way in to his family through Sami and that Sydney is very fond of him. EJ warns Dante that Sydney is his world and he will do anything to protect her. Dante calls Sydney his employee and soon, his stepdaughter, which makes her his family so he will also do anything to protect her. Dante remarks that the best thing EJ has done for Sydney is be an absent father. EJ argues that he’s been a doting and loving father, which Dante says is up for debate. EJ responds that he didn’t come to talk about his past, he came to talk about Dante’s past with Dominic Marino.
Alex thanks Maggie for allowing Joy and Kelsey to stay there. Maggie says she’s happy to help and adds that she even told Joy that she’s welcome to stay after she recovers which Alex calls incredibly generous. Maggie says it’s not like they don’t have the room and comments that she sometimes forgets how big the mansion is. Maggie adds that there’s enough room for Stephanie to be with him when he’s there with Kelsey. Alex says that would be great, ten feet apart of course.
Joy assures Philip that it’s safe to take the pills and that she’s only taking them at night so they aren’t affecting her physical therapy. Joy claims a muscle tear in her shoulder has been keeping her up at night and asks if he has any other questions or concerns. Philip says he’s sorry and just wants her to be careful. Philip then tells her has to get rid of the mold in the room, then admits it’s just paint, leaving Joy confused.
Kayla tells Stephanie that there are certain medications that could skew Joy’s test results but she doesn’t believe Joy could pull off faking her spinal reflexes consistently like that. Stephanie suggests she could just be really good at it. Stephanie reminds Kayla that Joy used to be an actor. Stephanie declares there is one foolproof way of telling whether or not she’s faking it as she reveals that if a patient’s reflexes are tested when she isn’t looking, it would be impossible for the patient not to react. Stephanie asks Kayla to test Joy’s reflexes without her knowing the next time she sees her. Kayla knows Stephanie thinks she saw Joy move her legs and that’s enough for her to consider additional testing, but insists that Joy’s initial injury was 100% real and her latest tests appear to confirm that so it would be irresponsible of her not to take it seriously. Kayla reminds Stephanie that Joy has been away from her child and in bed for weeks, so if she’s wrong about this, it will be really hurtful. Kayla warns Stephanie to be careful who she shares her concerns with. Kayla adds that she knows Joy worming her way in to Alex’s apartment has not been easy for them. Stephanie calls that an understatement. Kayla points out that Joy is no longer there, but she’s holding a big place in Stephanie’s head. Kayla advises Stephanie to figure out a way to get Joy out of her head.
Joy asks if Philip is going to explain why he put fake black mold in her bedroom. Philip explains that they made up some unpleasant issues to fail the inspection and get the buyer to back out of the sale of the house. Joy calls that devious. Philip responds that sometimes to get what you want, you have to be, and if it’s for the greater good, it’s justified. Joy says she couldn’t agree more.
Dante tells EJ that he’s already told Sami and her family everything they want to know about his former roommate but he has not been in contact with Dominic. EJ asks if he ever met his parents. Dante says no. EJ says Dominic must have talked about his parents in school but Dante says he’s afraid not. EJ calls him a liar.
Brady asks if Kristen is seriously going to play the martyr when she did this to herself. Brady tells Kristen that Sophia Choi is dead because she had a mental health crisis and instead of helping her, she manipulated her in to doing something unspeakably wrong and now Sophia’s family is grieving their loss while the consequence is Rachel not having her mother in her life. Brady admits part of him wants to call the cops and let Amy Choi and EJ have their justice served. Kristen argues that would destroy Rachel. Brady says that’s why he won’t resort to that, but he needs her to assure that she won’t lay a hand on Johnny or anyone else and keep her sadistic impulses in check, otherwise he cannot let her walk out that door. Kristen swears on Rachel’s life that she is no threat to Johnny or anyone else. Kristen argues that Brady knows her better than anyone and has seen the best in her because he brought it out in her when they were together. Kristen knows that he knows she’s decent and loving and that her love for their daughter is so pure that she would do anything for her. Kristen cries that she knows she’s a good person, not a monster, even though she sometimes behaved like one. Kristen wishes she knew why she does the things she does, but she doesn’t. Brady says she has to do a lot of work to figure it out if she ever wants to see Rachel again, suggesting therapy or medication so that she never snaps again. Kristen asks if he’s saying there may be a chance for her to be in her daughter’s life again. Brady responds that it’s entirely up to her.
Joy asks why Philip doesn’t get the staff to do the cleaning. Philip responds that the staff wasn’t in on it. Kelsey wakes up crying, so Philip offers to get the nanny. Joy says he could just pick her up and hand her to her. Philip points out that he doesn’t have much experience with babies. Joy encourages that he’ll be great. Philip asks if there’s a specific method of picking her up. Joy tells him to forget it and just pat her back, so he does and that stops her crying. Joy calls him a natural and says he’s doing great. Joy asks if Philip thinks he will have kids. Philip says who knows. Joy asks if he wants kids. Philip says he’s not ruling it out. Philip tells Joy to never tell Chloe he said this, but he honestly thought he might have kids with her, then it wasn’t in the cards.
Alex tells Maggie that he will see her back at the office. Maggie calls it surreal to go back to business as usual. Alex calls it a huge relief as he didn’t know what the next chapter of his life would look like otherwise. Maggie says he no longer has to worry since they won the battle with EJ and can now focus on restoring Titan to it’s former glory.
Dante questions what EJ is accusing him of and why he would lie. EJ says there’s a myriad of reasons. Dante knows it’s a strange coincidence but he’s not clear on what everyone thinks Dominic’s agenda is. EJ finds it strange that Dante knew so little about his former roommate. Dante argues that Dominic was always very private and his family lived in the States. EJ guesses that means he does know something about his family then. Dante repeats that he never talked about them and never seemed very close with them. EJ questions why he would say that. Dante points out that he never went to visit that he can remember and his parents never showed up while he was in boarding school. Dante mentions they sent a woman who worked for them to help him get settled. EJ demands the name of that woman. Dante says he believes it started with an R. EJ guesses that it was Rita which Dante then confirms.
Philip finds Stephanie in the town square and asks if she’s working hard. Stephanie says she’s more like hardly working. Philip points out that she’s usually so busy. Stephanie then informs him that she lost one of her biggest clients as the hospital dropped her. Philip says he’s sorry to hear that. Philip then suggests she could come work for Titan. Stephanie says she normally would take him up on that, but she’s working for his competitor in DiMera Enterprises. Philip wishes her luck with that as he hears she’ll have her hands full.
EJ questions Dante about Rita working for Dominic’s family. Dante confirms that but asks why that is relevant. EJ reveals that Rita also worked for his family until recently. Dante asks if he’s sure they are talking about the same person. EJ describes Rita to him which Dante says does sound like her, but he’s positive that Dominic never mentioned a connection to the DiMeras. EJ finds that very hard to believe. Dante points out that EJ has now called him a liar twice and declares that they are done here. EJ disagrees and says he doesn’t know who Dante really is or what his part in Dominic’s plot is. EJ warns him about if he ever hurts Sami. Dante yells at him that it’s enough. Dante tells EJ that he loves Sami and after what EJ did to her, he has no right to be throwing stones. Dante adds that he has no idea why EJ is so interested in Dominic, but he doubts it has anything to do with protecting Sami.
Alex goes to Joy’s room to bring her things that she left at his place and say hello to Kelsey. Joy says she and Kelsey have been able to get quality sleep and she thinks Kelsey will really love living in the mansion, so she thanks Alex again for making that happen. Alex brings up that Maggie offered to let her stay even after she recovers and went on about how much she loves having Kelsey there. Joy says she might actually take her up on that if it means Kelsey gets to grow up in a place bigger than the Brady Pub with a cook, a pool, and a home theater, then she’s all for it.
Kristen hides as Kayla enters Rachel’s room with her test results and tells Brady that she’s doing really good and the fever is down. Kayla tells Brady that Sarah will fill him in further and she just wanted to deliver the good news. Brady thanks Kayla as she exits. Rachel wakes up and says she’s so glad Kristen is still there as she was afraid she was going to leave her again. Rachel asks Kristen not to go.
Alex is glad Joy and Kelsey are getting all settled in. Alex asks if Joy still needs a ride to her doctor’s appointment. Joy says her home health aid will take her but thanks him for offering. Alex tells Kelsey he will see her soon. Joy thanks him for stopping by as Alex then exits. Joy then gets up from her wheelchair and locks the door. Joy tells Kelsey that she has the best Grandpa for coming through with her prescriptions. Joy says she just has to stay in her wheelchair a little longer and pray that Philip doesn’t say anything to anybody about her muscle relaxants.
Stephanie asks Philip how Joy is. Philip says she’s doing alright but notes that it was kind of weird as he doesn’t get why she won’t tell her parents about her paralysis. Philip knows Craig and Nancy can be a lot, but calls this a pretty big thing to keep from them. Stephanie remarks that Joy is really good at keeping secrets. Philip asks what she means. Stephanie points out how Joy kept Alex from Kelsey for so long. Philip points out that she eventually thought better of it.
EJ tells Dante that this may be hard for him to believe, but he cares deeply about Sami and her safety is of utmost important to him. Dante responds that she is no longer his concern. Dante doubts there’s any nefarious plans as he likes Dominic and considers him a friend. Dante remarks that Dominic is not the one that poses a threat to Sami. EJ then exits the room.
Kristen tells Rachel that she loves her very much and she wishes she could stay here with her but she can’t. Rachel questions why not and asks if Brady told Kristen that she couldn’t stay. Kristen tells her not to blame Brady as this is her fault and no one else’s. Kristen declares that she made a terrible mistake which is why she can’t stay in Salem right now. Rachel asks if she will go to jail if she’s caught. Rachel knows she dressed as a doctor as a disguise and questions what Kristen did. Kristen responds that it’s something she regrets terribly, so she’s going away to work on herself. Rachel compares it to when she was in Bayview. Kristen calls Rachel very inspiring, strong, and brave. Kristen promises that she will be back. Rachel says she loves her. Kristen says she loves her too as Brady watches with tears in his eyes.
