At the country club, Vernon tried to convince Leslie to let the Articulettes to use her mother’s vocals on the new recording. While Vernon was talking, Leslie was distracted by Shanice’s brothers who were meeting Ted at the club. Leslie told Vernon that there weren’t enough remixes on the Billboard charts to undo what Anita and the Articulettes did to her mother. She demanded to be a producer if they wanted her to let them use her mother’s vocals. Leslie went to Cedric and Lamont’s (Shanice’s brothers) table. She told them about her relationship with Ted. They didn’t believe her and said Shanice wouldn’t date a man who had an affair and an illegitimate child. When Ted showed up to meet the brothers, they let him know that they heard enough. They called him a deadbeat loser. Later on, Ted told Shanice that it went badly. He said he would win them over.
Anita told Sharon and Tracy that she would join them on stage again when her voice recovered. They talked about Barbara and how she never got to enjoy the success she should have. Vernon showed up and let them know that Leslie turned them down. Sharon and Tracy told Anita to be flexible. Anita was upset with them for expecting her to do it. Tracy said Leslie was a nightmare but it was their fault that she was that way. Anita left to confront Leslie. She let Leslie know that she could be a producer, but she wouldn’t have any say in the project. Leslie agreed to the terms. Anita warned her that she would reap what she sewed. Ashley met with Jacob to talk about Lia’s death. Jacob said he would bring the Impaler to justice. He left to meet with Martin and Smitty. Jacob wanted to question Smitty about the Impaler. Naomi was there first and acted as Smitty’s attorney. While Jacob questioned Smitty, he asked if Lia’s death was a murder investigation and if he was a suspect.
