Chad and Cat arrive outside the DiMera Mansion at the same time. Cat says the big day is here while Chad can’t wait until it’s over. Cat heads inside where Theo is practicing his speech in the living room. Cat says she just wanted to make sure he had everything he needs. Theo says he does, so Cat says if he needs anything, she wil be in the garden. Cat exits as Chad comes in and asks Theo how he’s doing. Theo admits he’s nervous as public speaking is not his thing. Chad encourages that he’s got this. Chad asks if there’s any intel on what Stefano left behind. Theo tells him to be patient as he will find out soon enough.

Tony and Anna return home. Tony says it’s good to be back while Anna says not for another event of Stefano’s, calling it the longest farewell tour of all time. Tony promises this will be the last goodbye and he’s sure a hefty inheritance will dissuade Anna’s disappointment. Tony calls it vitally important and the passing of the torch from one generation to the next. Anna questions if passing on any of this is really a good thing.

Cat finds Leo in the garden with binoculars.

EJ brings Rita in to the secret room where they check on Lexie. EJ thanks Rita for meeting him before the reading. Rita says she was honored to be invited. EJ acknowledges that Rita meant a lot to Stefano. EJ asks Rita what she knows about Stefano’s codicil. Rita responds that the only person who would know anything about that would be Dr. Rolf, so if he wants answers, he should ask him. Rita jokingly hopes that Dr. Rolf didn’t convince Stefano to leave everything to him. Rita guesses Dr. Rolf won’t be appearing at the reading. EJ assures he won’t since he’s still wanted for questioning about hiring Owen Kent, so he needs to remain hidden for now and focus on Lexie’s recovery.

Kristen runs in to Marlena in the town square. Marlena informs her that she just came from seeing Rachel and she was so pleased she was there. Kristen remarks that she wouldn’t have been if she knew what Marlena did. Marlena says she loves her granddaughter with all her heart and asks how dare Kristen try to keep her from her. Marlena argues that Kristen couldn’t possibly think she could’ve revoked her visitation because Rachel needs her family now more than ever. Kristen mocks Marlena thinking she knows everything. Marlena talks about Rachel developing the tools to decipher right from wrong. Kristen argues that it’s always good vs. evil with her. Marlena hopes Rachel inherits Brady and John’s kindness, gentleness, and generosity instead of the evil that runs in Kristen’s side of the family.

Tony and Anna join Chad and Theo in the living room. Tony is sorry they had to meet like this. Chad jokes that Stefano always loved to make them uncomfortable. Tony hoped for a moment alone with Theo before the reading, so Chad and Anna head to the kitchen. Tony wants to know why Theo decided to resign from DiMera.

Cat questions what Leo is doing in the garden. Leo claims he’s bird watching and says since Cat didn’t invite him to Stefano’s will reading, he invited himself to watch birds. Cat warns that he’s trespassing. Leo argues that he works for Chad and he could end up owning the mansion. Cat asks if Chad invited him then. Leo says he didn’t want to bother Chad with it but insists he’d be totally cool with it which Cat highly doubts. Cat says that Chad wouldn’t want Leo airing his family’s dirty laundry and doesn’t need to worry about him causing trouble. Leo calls it interesting how Cat seems more concerned with protecting his boss than her own boss.

Tony tells Theo that he really wants to know why he decided not to return as CEO of DiMera. Theo says he told him on the phone but Tony wants more of an explanation now that they are face to face. Tony says that Theo was doing a great job and everyone was impressed by him. Theo says that Johnny is doing fine. Tony argues that Johnny got them embroiled in a lawsuit which Theo feels is not entirely his fault. Tony states that if he wanted Johnny as CEO, he would’ve named him in the first place. Tony tells him that’s what EJ wanted and now he got his wish because Theo stepped down. Tony then asks Theo what EJ held over him to make him quit.

EJ and Rita discuss Dr. Rolf monitoring Lexie and her recovery. Rita asks what happens if this grand investment doesn’t pay off and they end up with a product that can’t be sold. EJ responds that they keep going because DiMeras don’t quit, so they will continue until they are successful, noting they have no shortage of patients. EJ then gets a call and reveals to Rita that their contact at the airport has informed him that a charter plane has landed from Alamainia.

Kristen tells Marlena that Brady and John are not exactly saints. Marlena responds that she knows their flaws but they have Rachel’s best interests at heart. Kristen argues that she does too and that Marlena knows that’s true. Kristen remarks that Marlena’s family tree has quite a few bad apples as well. Kristen remarks that Rachel was conceived out of love, unlike Johnny. Marlena acknowledges that Sami was raped and in spite of that tragedy, Johnny is loved by both of his parents. Kristen questions Marlena thinking Rachel deserves to be locked up in a mental institution and asks what about Johnny. Kristen brings up Johnny nearly shooting EJ too. Marlena says that could’ve been a terrible tragedy. Kristen argues that Marlena loathes EJ just as much as she does, pointing out that he’s hurt everyone she cares about. Kristen tells Marlena not to pretend she wouldn’t be thrilled if EJ ceased to exist. Marlena argues that EJ wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Kristen since she was so desperate to hold onto John that Stefano paid off Susan to put a child in Kristen’s arms. Marlena says that was EJ, so all the lies he’s told and the people he’s hurt stems directly from her. Marlena says they are done while Kristen remarks that she will never understand what Stefano or John saw in her.

Cat tells Leo that she doesn’t have time for this and has to get back to work. Cat warns Leo that if he gets caught, she cannot bail him out so she tells him to stay out of trouble as she walks away. Leo then spots Rita walking by and wonders where she came from.

Theo tells Tony that leaving DiMera was his decision, reminding him how reluctant he was to take the job. Theo says he’s grateful that Tony believed in him but argues that being CEO nearly got him killed and staying would only put a target on his back and he could not put his family through that again. Abe arrives and says he couldn’t agree more. Abe, Tony, and Theo then head to the dining room as Cat re-enters the mansion from the garden. EJ then comes out from the tunnels and says he bought Stefano’s favorite wine bottles. EJ thanks Cat for everything she’s done for him today. Cat asks if there’s anything else he needs. EJ says that’s all for now but he appreciates all she’s done. Rita enters the mansion where Chad greets her and directs her to the dining room. Chad heads towards the living room but stops when he sees EJ and Cat together as EJ brings up their interrupted dinner and promises next time they will have dessert. Chad then turns around and walks away. EJ tells Cat that he has to get to the dining room and invites Cat to join him. Cat says she has to finish pouring the wine and has a few more things to finish before the reading. EJ then exits for the dining room while Cat eyes the tunnels and finishes pouring wine.

Kristen tells Marlena that she has to get to her father’s will reading. Marlena remarks that she’s sure it will be a circus while Kristen calls it funny that she’s the only living daughter that can show her face without getting arrested. As Kristen walks away, Marlena flashes back to Theo telling her that Lexie is alive. Kristen then stops and tells Marlena that she should come since she was invited. Marlena calls it tempting but says she’ll pass. Kristen questions Marlena not being curious about the gift Stefano left her. Marlena says she’s not in the slightest. Kristen thinks John would’ve been. Kristen then declares that Stefano is dead but Marlena is still afraid to face him on her own.

Abe and Theo return to the living room as Theo talks about being nervous while Abe encourages that he’ll be fine and he’s always here for him. Abe mentions that Lexie is the reason he came today. Abe talks about Lexie not wanting Theo involved in the DiMera business, but she would want him to get his rightful share of the estate. Abe encourages that Lexie is watching and would be so proud of the man he’s become as they hug.

Tony and Rita walk out of the dining room together and in to the living room as Anna looks on in anger. Chad comes by and asks Anna if she’s alright. Anna responds that she’s always detested Rita because she’s always been after Tony. Chad says he did not know that. Anna remarks that if she ever falls off a cruise ship, he’ll know who to blame. Anna then heads in to the living room. EJ enters and announces they are just about ready. Anna tells EJ that they were horrified to hear about what happened to Johnny. Tony says he’s glad that he’s going to be okay, but mentions they still haven’t found Sophia. Kristen comes in and mentions that reports say Sophia took her own life. Chad joins the room as Harold walks in and greets him, mentioning he hopes Thomas and Charlotte visit soon as he takes a seat. Chad goes over to Kristen and asks how Rachel is. Kristen thanks him for asking, complaining that no one else in the family has. Chad tells her that Thomas asks about her all the time so he’d like to take him to see her which Kristen says she would love. EJ talks about getting started and informs them that they could have one more guest as he’s been informed of a private jet landing from Alamainia which could be Megan, but is more likely Dimitri. Tony jokes that they should just lock the doors while Kristen mentions the tunnels and how you never know what’s creeping around down there.

Cat sneaks down the tunnels and approaches a door when she is startled by Leo appearing in the tunnels. Cat argues that she told him to stay out of trouble. Leo tells her that he was following a lead after he saw Rita pass through and questions what Cat’s excuse is. Cat claims she came to get wine from the cellar while Leo doesn’t believe her and thinks she is there for the same reason; to spy on EJ.

Theo begins the reading of Stefano’s last will and testament. Theo reads Stefano’s explanation of naming him as executor, believing he would be fair and not vengeful which EJ laughs off as ridiculous. Theo reads that Stefano wrote he felt EJ was too much like him and told Kristen not to gloat. Tony remarks that they know Stefano is dead but he gets the feeling that he’s still here. Theo continues the reading. Anna complains that this is taking forever. Theo reads that Stefano’s estate will be equally divided among his offspring and those that are deceased will go to beneficiaries, adding that those with no beneficiary will be divided among the living and anyone who does not claim theirs in a timely manner will forfeit their right to inherit. Theo reads all of what the estate entails until they are interrupted by the doorbell ringing, so Harold goes to answer it. EJ guesses that the other shoe is about to drop.

Cat asks Leo why she would be stupid enough to spy on her own boss. Leo says he can think of a number of reasons. Cat tells him to do that and warns that if he gets caught, he’s on his own. Leo brings up Dimitri once telling him that he thought Cat was ISA and now he’s wondering if he was right. Leo recalls thinking Cat caught him outside of EJ’s lab, but maybe he caught her. Leo then declares it’s true that Cat is ISA.

Marlena arrives at the DiMera Mansion and announces that she changed her mind about coming. Tony, Anna, and Abe welcome her. Theo tells Marlena it’s good to see her. Theo continues the reading as Stefano expresses his gratitude to his staff Harold, Rita, and Dr. Rolf, encouraging them to stay with the family for many years to come and reveals that when they decide to retire, he has purchased homes in the cities of their choice and has established trusts to take care of them for the remaining days of their lives. Theo reads Stefano’s final bequest to his pupil turned adversary John Black and his queen of the night, Dr. Marlena Evans. Rita presents Marlena with a box. Kristen jokes that it’s probably a diamond tiara. Abe tells Marlena that she doesn’t have to open it. Marlena declares that Stefano is gone, so his sick game ends her and now. Marlena opens the box to see a chess game. Kristen questions that being it while EJ says Stefano usually does better than that. Marlena thanks Theo and says she respectfully declines the gift and exits. Anna calls it surprisingly uneventful and says she will go walk Marlena out. Theo then reads Stefano’s final statements, encouraging his children to find a way to move past their grievances and forgive as all that was once his is now theirs. Theo reads that only when there is peace among them can everything be passed on, encouraging the DiMeras to hold their heads high and be proud of who they are. Theo reads Stefano’s words encouraging them to live fearlessly, declaring this is not the end but merely the beginning, long live the House of DiMera. They are interrupted again by the doorbell ringing so Harold goes to answer it. Theo starts to say that concludes the reading but Gabi arrives and asks if she’s late. Chad and Tony question what Gabi is doing there. EJ tells Gabi this is a private family event. Gabi reveals that apparently she’s still a part of the family because Philip just got back from Alamainia and he went to see Ivan. EJ tells her to tell someone who cares. Gabi thinks everyone here will care as Ivan confessed that Vivian forged Stefan’s signature on their divorce papers which means she is not Stefan’s ex, but his widow, which means she’s entitled to his part of the DiMera Estate.

Cat laughs at Leo thinking she’s ISA and says she wishes her life was that interesting. Cat then tells Leo that after the whole Clyde Weston thing, she had to make sure her boss wasn’t doing anything illegal since Mark works for EJ too and he’s on parole. Leo says they both know EJ is hiding something and suggests they work together since he happens to know his way around the tunnels quite well. Leo tells Cat to follow her but they hear a sound from inside. Cat warns that if they get caught, she will do the talking as they head through the door.

Tony congratulates Rita on her inheritance, saying it was well deserved. EJ asks Rita to find out if what Gabi claims is true, arguing that this cannot stand. Kristen praises Gabi but says she smells a fraud. Theo tells Gabi that he believes her and will take her claim seriously. Gabi thanks him. Chad adds that it sounds legit to him too. EJ declares they will get to the bottom of it one way or another. EJ then proposes a toast to Stefano, so they all raise a glass to his portrait until Lexie shockingly emerges from the tunnels!
