Sarah runs in to Xander outside the Brady Pub and says she wasn’t expecting to see him tonight since he and Philip have the meeting with Tony. Xander says they do but he needed to refuel, pointing out that Victoria’s legacy is on the line. Sarah encourages that he’s got this as she kisses him for good luck as Xander then walks away.
Maggie joins Philip in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie talks about Brady and Alex being as concerned as they all are, but they know the roles they have to play tonight. They talk about Brady being in the legal role while Alex is playing the calm role with SJPR in case the lawsuit goes forward. Philip brings up how his fraud would then come out and says none of this would be happening if he hadn’t gone along with Vivian forging the letter from Victor. Maggie says he made a colossal mistake but what matters is that he’s trying to make amends. Maggie believes that’s what Victor would’ve wanted above all else, for all of them to come together as family. Philip hopes that’s enough to keep his company from falling in to the hands of Tony DiMera.
Tony stands in the living room of the DiMera Mansion where he declares to Stefano that it’s almost time.
Johnny wonders how the person who wrote the letter would get the idea that he was in a relationship with Holly while Chanel wonders how they even knew they were attempting to adopt Tesoro. Johnny says the timing is way off while Chanel wishes Holly could remember more from before the fire. They then realize that Holly said that she lost her phone in the fire which means the photos were sent before she got a new phone, so she couldn’t have sent those photos at all. Johnny wonders who did and why. Chanel questions how to get to the truth. Johnny thinks he knows someone who can help them.
Arianna goes to her dorm room where she finds Holly packing her things. Holly tells her that she’s moving out as she can’t stay here. Holly announces that she’s made her decision to drop out of Salem U.
Sophia and Tate finish up working at the Brady Pub. Sophia asks if he feels like hanging out after they clock out. Tate apologizes but says he’s in is head right now and wouldn’t be good company. Sophia apologizes for saying anything about Holly and Johnny but Tate says he needed to know. Sophia says she knows it has to hurt. Tate says he doesn’t want to talk about it and is going to get some air. Tate storms out as Sarah enters the Pub. Sophia tells Sarah not to mind Tate as he has a lot going out. Sophia offers to take Sarah’s order, but Sarah says she wants answers as to why she is lying to her and everyone else.
Maggie asks if Philip honestly believes Tony ever expected their family to be so united as his strategy was to pit he and Xander against each other. Philip calls divide and conquer pretty effective but Maggie says not this time. Philip says it means a lot to have her, Brady, and Alex in his corner but he hopes she doesn’t end up regretting having his back through all of this because if they untangle Titan from DiMera, the company will be in dire straits. Philip worries about going through all of this just to lose everything. Maggie encourages that they would just rebuild it, pointing out that Victor built the company himself from the ground up while they are not alone. Maggie declares that the Kiriakis family is much stronger together.
Arianna questions Holly drunk sexting Johnny. Holly says she’s mortified enough as it is. Arianna brings up her having a crush on Johnny in high school but he’s her professor, married, and Ari’s uncle. Holly repeats that she wasn’t in her right mind and is sure she planned to send the photos to Tate but she doesn’t remember anything about last night. Arianna acknowledges that they all do stupid stuff when drunk and apologizes for not doing more. Holly says it’s not her fault but she’s beyond humiliated and asks how she’s supposed to face Johnny or Chanel again. Holly adds that she definitely can’t keep taking Johnny’s class. Arianna thinks she’s overreacting as things happen and this will blow over. Holly says starting the fire will still probably get her kicked out of the dorms. Arianna says she can move out with her and find a place off campus. Holly thanks her but says she obviously caused all this trouble because she can’t cope with being around Tate and Sophia. Holly thinks the universe is telling her that she needs a change of scenery. Arianna realizes that Holly isn’t just talking about leaving the dorms. Holly confirms that she spoke to her mom and is going to live with her in Paris like she should have in the first place. Holly declares that it’s time for her to get the hell out of Salem.
Johnny finishes a call with Rafe, thanking him for doing this and says to call if he finds anything. Johnny informs Chanel that Rafe is going to try to pinpoint where the photos were taken from and if they were from the hospital then they will know Holly was lying but if they weren’t then someone must have sent the photos while Holly was in the hospital and is trying to stop them from adopting Tesoro. Johnny declares that the question is who?
Sophia tells Sarah that she doesn’t have time for whatever this is. Sarah tells her to make time. Sophia asks if they can do it after her shift. Sarah demands Sophia text her the minute she’s done and to meet her at the park as she then exits the Pub.
Johnny feels there’s still so many unanswered questions like how Tesoro’s birth mother would have even found out they were planning to adopt him. Chanel blames herself for talking about their plans. Johnny says they couldn’t have known Tesoro’s mother would write a letter trashing him. Chanel points out that they don’t know for sure who wrote the letter but whoever it is knew about his past with Holly and used it against them. Johnny questions who would want to destroy their chances at having a family. Chanel responds that the only person she can think of is EJ.
Philip, Maggie, and Xander go to the DiMera Mansion to meet with Tony. Tony asks what they have decided about his offer. Maggie states that they agreed it would be best for both families to keep this out of court. Tony agrees and says it’s settled then that DiMera will be returned to his family. Xander tells him that’s correct, but Titan stays with them.
Arianna argues that Holly can’t just leave like this. Arianna says they’ve all made mistakes and that’s no reason to move to another continent. Holly loves her for trying to talk her out of it but says she’s already made up her mind and her mom is super excited for her to come to Paris. Holly insists that it’s for the best. Arianna starts to cry. Holly tells her to come visit her in Paris. Holly says she’ll be leaving tomorrow and asks Arianna not to tell Tate until after she’s gone. Arianna reluctantly promises as they agree to video chat. Holly thanks her for being the best thing to come out of a crappy year and says she’s really lucky to have her as a friend. They hug as Holly then takes her bags and exits.
Sophia meets Sarah in the park and asks what this is all about. Sarah responds that she needs to know what happened to her baby and she needs the truth this time. Sophia questions her calling her a liar. Sarah states that Sophia said she went in to labor on her own and panicked over her mother or Tate forcing her to keep the baby so she dropped her baby off at the fire house. Sophia confirms that is the truth. Sophia reminds Sarah that she can’t tell anybody without risking losing her medical license so they have nothing else to say here. Sarah says that’s unless she thinks that something has happened to her baby. Sophia questions what she is talking about and tells Sarah that her baby is Tesoro and he’s the happiest baby she’s ever seen. Sarah tells her to stop lying to her while Sophia insists she isn’t. Sophia argues that she told her all of this months ago and questions why she suddenly doesn’t believe her. Sarah then reveals that Tesoro’s DNA was tested and he’s definitely not her and Tate’s.
Tony comments that he underestimated them financially. Maggie says they are ready to go now. Tony warns that by splitting Titan from DiMera, they will be sending Victor’s company in to a death spiral. Xander responds that Titan’s future is none of his business, so he can take their offer or leave it. Philip explains that Tony will regain control of his family’s company while they will keep their family’s company. Tony continues to warn that they could lose everything. Maggie declares that’s a risk she’s willing to take for her family.
Chanel asks Johnny if this could be another one of EJ’s schemes. Johnny says he made a point not to tell EJ about the adoption. Chanel says it’s possible he found out from someone else. Johnny knows EJ is capable of stooping that low but doesn’t think he’d be that sloppy. Johnny then gets a call back from Rafe. Johnny thanks him and says he owes him one. Johnny hangs up and informs Chanel that the text wasn’t sent from the hospital and the picture he got were sent near the town square while Holly was still in the hospital. Chanel realizes this means Holly doesn’t remember sending the pictures because she didn’t. Johnny states that means someone is setting them up. Johnny says that Rafe plans to take what he knows to social services and he hopes having an FBI agent on their side will help their case. Chanel gets excited that they may still have a fighting chance to adopt Tesoro. Johnny says they just have to prove that they deserve to be his parents which means they have to figure out who is screwing with them.
Holly returns home to the Kiriakis Mansion with her packed bag as she thinks back to her relationship with Tate.
Arianna looks at a frame of her and Holly until Tate shows up at the door and says he needs to see Holly but Arianna says that could be a problem.
Sophia accuses Sarah of lying about Tesoro not being her baby. Sarah tells her to give up the charade while Sophia argues that Sarah is making up a story about a DNA test. Sophia asks why a DNA test would even be run. Sarah reveals that Brady asked Rafe to run one because he started to suspect that Tesoro was Tate’s son. Sophia accuses Sarah of saying something to him but Sarah says it didn’t come from her as she kept her word. Sophia argues that there’s something wrong with the test then because Tesoro is her son. Sarah adds that they ran the DNA test twice just to make sure and declares that Tesoro and Tate are not a parental match. Sophia asks if they didn’t compare any of her DNA to the baby. Sophia swears that Tesoro is her son but declares that if what Sarah is saying is true, then Tate isn’t the father.
Tony tells Maggie that he’s disappointed but he can understand them going with her heart over her head but he can’t understand Xander and Philip’s motivations. Tony can’t understand Xander protecting the legacy of a man who wouldn’t even acknowledge him as his son. Maggie says he’s out of line while Philip tells Tony to go to Hell. Tony asks if Xander is willing to lose everything for a family who will never embrace him as their own.
Arianna informs Tate that Holly isn’t there as he just missed her. Tate says she isn’t answering his calls and asks if she has any idea when she’ll be back. Arianna says that she has no clue. Tate comes in to the room and asks her to go easy on him. Tate asks Arianna if the rumor about Holly and Johnny is true. Arianna assures him that it’s not and nothing is going on between them. Tate asks how a rumor like that even gets started in the first place. Arianna responds that she has an idea.
Chanel tells Johnny that they have to come up with a list of suspects. Chanel suggests someone at Salem U had access to Holly’s phone and an axe to grind. Johnny kisses Chanel and thanks her for helping him figure out who is targeting them.
Sophia begins to panic, saying this can’t be happening. Sarah asks if she had sex with someone else besides Tate around the time her baby was conceived. Sophia admits so and realizes that the other guy must be the baby’s father.
Tony argues to Xander that he’s selling his soul to people that wouldn’t think twice about selling him out. Xander says they may have once been a house divided but at the end of the day, Philip is his brother and he has his back. Philip says he has his as well. Maggie doesn’t blame Tony for trying to come between them but says he failed as they are not backing down. Tony declares that he will take DiMera back while they can pick up the scraps of what’s left of Titan. Tony suspects he’ll be picking Titan up in a matter of months when they have to sell. Maggie then exits with Philip and Xander.
Xander and Philip go to the Titan office. Xander thought it would be more satisfying and hates that they had to deal with Tony while he was in a position of power. Philip says that part is over at least and now the real work begins. Xander says they need to let Brady and Alex know that DiMera and Titan will be untangled any day now. Philip stops him and wants to clear the air. Xander says he won’t let what Tony said get to him. Philip feels Tony was right about one thing, that if they don’t play their cards right, they really could lose everything. Xander assures him that won’t happen as long as they stick together.
Maggie goes home and is surprised to find Holly in the living room. Maggie hugs her as Holly asks if she can crash there tonight. Maggie says this is her home and asks if it has to do with the fire. Holly cries that everything is ruined as they embrace.
Tate questions Arianna thinking someone just made up this story about Holly and Johnny to hurt her. Arianna thinks Holly made a stupid mistake and everyone else has the wrong idea. Arianna explains that when Holly was drunk, she sent suggestive pictures to Johnny but it was a total accident and thinks she meant to sent them to Tate. Arianna argues that Holly is still in love with Tate but he keeps screwing things up.
Sophia complains that she told herself this wasn’t possible. Sarah asks Sophia who Tesoro’s father is. Sophia calls it none of her business. Sarah agrees but says it is Tate’s business as he’s torturing himself over not getting to meet the baby, so he deserves to know that it was never his to begin with. Sophia feels what’s done is done and telling Tate now won’t solve anything. Sarah tells Sophia that she’s been where she is now, so she knows what it’s like to feel that she has to hide her child’s paternity. Sarah adds that no matter what she tells herself, a secret like that won’t stay hidden forever as the truth always comes out in the end.
Chanel asks Johnny who he thinks is behind all of this. Johnny reminds her that when they met outside the Pub, Sophia was there and then he ran in to her again in the town square. Johnny says he mentioned the adoption but never told her it was Tesoro and they already know how she feels about them after backing out of adopting her baby. Chanel adds that Sophia hates Holly and wonders if she could really be the one setting them all up.
Philip tells Xander that he’s not sure he deserves it after everything he did, but promises to make it up to him. Xander says he already has with Sarah, pointing out that Titan is not the only thing he’s trying to save as his marriage is finally back on track which wouldn’t have been possible if Philip told her that he beat him within an inch of his life. Philip admits that if he was in Xander’s shoes, he may have done the same thing. Xander thinks Philip may have had more self control than him. Xander points out that Philip could’ve blew up his spot when Sarah was grilling him at Victoria’s party, but he protected him instead. Philip says that’s what family does. Philip says he sincerely hopes that Xander and Sarah get back on track, but until then they’ve got work to do. Xander declares they will return Titan to it’s former glory.
Tate complains to Arianna that he doesn’t need another lecture about how he royally screwed things up with Holly because he knows that he did. Arianna mocks him finally becoming self-aware. Tate asks what else she wants him to do since Holly told him that he already lost her. Tate argues that if she loves him like Arianna said, maybe there’s a chance. Tate asks Arianna to just talk to Holly. Arianna wishes she could but asks Tate to go as she needs to study. Arianna agrees to tell Holly that he stopped by as Tate then exits.
Holly feels like Maggie is even more ashamed of her but Maggie says she’s never ashamed of her. Holly believes she messed up so badly that the only way out is to leave Salem. Maggie says she just came back from a difficult meeting for Titan that may shed a different light on her decision. Maggie tells her that someone she worked with made a terrible mistake and they all became vulnerable because of it and then another threat happened, so the only way forward was to face things head on instead of running away. Holly asks if she thinks moving to Paris is running away. Maggie says of course not, but if she wanted to stay, she thinks she could weather the storm no matter how bleak it seems now. Holly isn’t sure but Maggie says she’s sure enough for the both of them. Holly hugs her and thanks her, saying it means a lot to her. Holly says it’s not about running away but she’s in this crazy cycle with Tate, partying too much, and been obsessing over guys wrong for her. Holly feels she needs a fresh start and she can’t do it here. Maggie understands but wishes she didn’t because she will miss her so much. Holly thanks her for everything as they hug.
Johnny doesn’t know how to make sense of it but Sophia being the one behind the texts makes the most sense since she’s friends with Arianna so she’d have easy access to Holly’s phone. Chanel says it doesn’t explain the letter to social services. Johnny points out that it was anonymous so it could’ve been Sophia pretending to be the mother, unless she really is Tesoro’s mother which Chanel calls impossible since Sophia was still pregnant when the baby was left at the fire house. Johnny says he doesn’t know how to explain it but if they accept the idea that Sophia is Tesoro’s mother, then everything else makes sense. Chanel agrees that it does. Johnny says if Sophia is capable of setting them up and sabotaging them, God knows what else she’s capable of. Chanel adds that if this is true, then that means Tesoro is the baby they were planning to adopt the first time.
Sarah tells Sophia that it would be a lot easier for her if she got ahead of this thing. Sophia tells her to run another DNA test and offers a sample of her hair right now since her main concern is that Tesoro is safe. Sophia argues that once she proves Tesoro is her baby, she’ll have no reason to keep harassing her and they can all just move on. Sarah questions just letting Brady and Tate continue to torture themselves over this. Sophia remarks that they will get over it eventually. Sarah argues that they won’t stop looking until they find answers about what happened to her baby. Sarah thinks it would be better if those answers came from Sophia. Sophia says she’s sorry but she can’t tell Tate that the baby isn’t his and neither can Sarah.
