THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
What the hell? Till death do you part from Doug and Julie Williams. You’re hilarious, Julie.
Good, you’re here. Working late tonight, yeah. Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be on your honeymoon? I should be on my honeymoon, definitely, but it’s kind of difficult to enjoy my newly wedded bliss when the man who tried to kill me is roaming free. So the question is, Melinda… When are you and the newly appointed police commissioner going to do something about it?
So, did Rafe and Jada give you a hard time about being the new commissioner? No, no they didn’t. They actually, they um, need a quick exit upstairs. Anyway, what did Kristen have to say? Oh, well, she was concerned that Rachel and Brady were M. I. A. But, my brother finally arrived and dropped Rachel off at that incident, of course.
Mm, stud. It boggles my mind how he lost custody of her. He must be going out of his mind. Yeah, he is. My dad called too. He’s really worried about Brady’s reaction and just hoping to hell he doesn’t do something rash.
What the same.
What is it? Sander, uh, there’s something I have to tell you.
What is it? Something wrong? I just spoke with the manager at the airfield. Um, Uncle Vic’s plane. Is it delayed? No, it’s not delayed. It’s missing.
What do you mean missing? How could it be missing? The Titan jet was scheduled to arrive an hour ago. But it never landed. What was the last communication from the pilot? No one can reach him. Air traffic control is checking the radar. So far, nothing. No sign of them. How can that be? How can that possi possibly be?
Oh God. Do you think Victor’s plane crashed?
Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.
What are you doing here, Lee? I heard you and Stefan finally got hitched. So, um… Brought you a gift. What is it, a bomb? Of course it’s not. You know I would never hurt you. No, just my husband. I told you already, Cabby. But I’ll, I’ll say it again. I had nothing to do with Harris Michael’s attempt on Stefan’s life.
That was Megan Drop the act, Lee. Stefan and I both know that you were involved. And sometime in the not so distant future, we are gonna prove it.
Seven, you know damned well I did my best to put Lee Shin behind bars. But Harris Michaels pointed the finger at Megan DiMera. He says he remembers her and Rolf plotting your death, but not Lee. As far as Michaels is concerned, Lee had zero part in it. Right, except we both know that that is not true. Lee was acting very suspiciously that night.
Kept insisting that his sister Wendy not go to the party because he knew something was going to happen. But where is the proof? Proof? What proof? Everything he did was proof! Stefan, I need a smoking gun. Without it, my hands are tied. Right. Okay, I get that. I do. It’s just…
Is it the lack of evidence? Is that the only reason you’re not going after Lee? Or is it because you’re dating him?
Whoops.
Well, I’m sorry that I left you in here with Jada and Rafe during that. Very awkward moment. Yeah, don’t worry about it. I mean, at least it didn’t go on too long. Yeah, Molly would have come back in sooner, but I ran into Chloe outside. And she had big news. Really? What is it? Your cousin Xander popped the question.
Oh. Wait, hold on, wait, no, he, wait, he proposed? Yep, and apparently it took her by surprise.
Oh no, right? Oh. No, not exactly. Well, she didn’t say yes either, but she did say that she was gonna take time to mull it over. Belle, what in the hell is wrong with her? I mean, no, he’s a menace. He’s a would be killer. I mean, he shot your mother and your brother. Believe me, I told her all of those things. But then Chloe just insisted that, you know, Xander regrets all his past mistakes.
And he’s so remorseful. And he’s a changed man. Ugh. Not to mention, she also said that whether or not she accepts his proposal, that if I want to keep being her friend, I have to accept that Xander is a part of her life. Look, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Hey, I wasn’t thinking. I just feel the pull between us all the time and I And what, Brady?
We are not together anymore. I know. I’m with Xander. I know, I know you’re with Xander. I ran into Xander and he told me that he proposed to you. He did, yes. He also told me that you haven’t answered him yet, which means to me, there’s still a possibility that I can talk you out of marrying that creep.
Maggie, we shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Look, that’s right. Maybe the plan’s just delayed. You know, for all we know, he could be on his way home as we speak. Well, why can’t they contact the plane? Or he, or locate it? Well, the whole thing’s a little tricky, seeing as Uncle Vic never filed a flight plan. Why?
Why didn’t he? Because he went to visit Bo in an undisclosed location, and he didn’t want to leave a paper trail. In case Megan DeMera was keeping tabs on him. Do you know where Moe is? No, he didn’t say. And, in fact, he didn’t even call me the whole time he was gone. Just to be on the safe side, he said. You know what, uh, I know this is a long shot, but maybe, maybe he’ll pick up.
Moose.
I have to say, that’s disappointing to hear. I was hoping that since now you’re happily married, we could let bygones be bygones. Maybe even be friends. Friends? Like, people who tag each other in photos, who meet up for Sunday brunch? Are you kidding me? Why would I trust you? Well, for one thing, you got married and I didn’t try to stop the wedding.
Or murder the groom. That’s a start. I don’t know what kind of game you’re playing, but I’m having a hard time believing the Mr. Nice Guy act, so you can shove that olive branch where the sun don’t shine and leave me and my husband alone. Oh, I got the message loud and clear when you showed up at my home and proceeded to point a gun in my face.
Oh, I’m glad you finally got the message! Honestly, Gabby, the last thing I want to do is interfere with your happiness. Yeah? Well, the only way I’ll know for sure that you won’t try is when you wake up every single morning to the sound of a nightstick rattling across the bars of your lonely little cell.
I can assure you, that’s not going to happen. Oh, yeah? Why is that? Is it because you’re screwing the DA? How did you know I was seeing Lee? Are you spying on me? No, no. No, I took the more economical route, and I picked up the latest issue of The Spectator, and I read Lady Whistleblower’s Column. Apparently, you and Lee have been seen canoodling all around town.
Oh, I would hardly call it canoodling. I mean, we were set up on a blind date, and believe me, neither one of us were thrilled. That first date was a dumpster fire. Really? What happened? You know what? None of, none of my business. No, no, no, it’s okay. I don’t mind telling you that I tried to trick him into Confessing on tape and we figured it out.
He stormed off Wow so You mentioned a second ago first date. Does that mean there’s a second? Unintentionally, yes, and to my surprise that turned out pretty well So well, in fact, that we planned another. But he skedaddled on me before that even began. And I haven’t heard from him since. Hmm. Believe me when I tell you, you are much better off.
I suppose so. Although, I have to say it was rather nice having my feelings returned for once. Melinda, you know, I think the world of you. Please, spare me. I am in no mood for a pity party. And to answer your not in the least bit inappropriate question from before, no, I am not letting Lee off the hook because, uh, he likes Scandinavian crime dramas as much as I do.
Believe me, there’s no conflict of interest. Great. Then let’s talk about how you’re going to put that psychopath behind bars.
Okay, I’m sorry, but that was way out of line. Xander is not a creep. No, he’s not. You’re right. He’s a man of integrity and extreme character, but he’s also a guy who left you in the clutches of a dangerous drug lord. He also shot me and left me to die. He also shot Marlena at her wedding. I don’t think creep actually describes him.
Okay, okay, I get it. Xander has done some terrible things in the past. He has, but… Guess what? So have I. And so have you, for that matter. What he did to Bonnie and Susan, that doesn’t even categorize as the past, Chloe. And he is filled with regret about that. I’m sure he tosses and turns every night about it.
I have felt his regret firsthand, and trust me, it is genuine. Well, look, I know that he can be stubborn, and arrogant, and impulsive. But I’ve also gotten to know a man who is kind and gentle and who listens. Are you in love with him? I don’t want to be having this conversation with you, Brady. No, it’s a simple question, and the fact that you can’t give me a straight answer means, to me, that whatever you think you have with Xander, it can’t hold a candle to what we once had.
What we once had, it crashed and burned in a pretty spectacular fashion. No, no, no, no, not for me. Not for me. And our chemistry is still there. I feel it. It is palpable. And I know you feel it too. Brady, I can, I can… And even when we just kissed, it was still there. You felt it. It’s always there. It’s always gonna be there.
Chloe Lane, I love you. I’m pretty sure you love me too, so all that’s left to do is for you to tell this guy who has conned his way into making you believe that he has changed and doesn’t deserve one more tender moment with you, much less a lifetime. Just tell him to take a hike, and please, for the love of God, come back to me.
Straight to voicemail. Wait, isn’t it possible that he’s still with Bo and Hope? I mean… Maybe there is an improvement in Bo’s condition, and he just wants to spend more time with his son. Yeah, maybe. Bo might even come out of his coma. Wouldn’t that be something? That would be fantastic. Do you have any way to get a hold of Hope?
Unfortunately, no, I don’t. I don’t have her burner phone number. I know somebody who does, though. Oh, yes. Anyway, enough about everybody else’s drama because we are here to celebrate your big promotion. And my stomach is growling, so maybe we can order. Yeah, yeah, come on, let’s take a look.
Oh, oh, it’s Maggie. I bet this is about Granddad’s homecoming dinner. I, I sort of blew it off. Hey, uh, Maggie, I’m really sorry I couldn’t make it to dinner tonight. Sean! Listen to me. I need you to call your mother right away. Why? What’s going on? Victor, um, is missing.
Well, are you or aren’t you? Not that it’s any of your business. Not to mention, it’s rather crass to inquire about other people’s sex lives. But no, I am not screwing Melinda Trask. Okay, first of all, it’s kind of ironic having a guy who plots murder calling someone crass for asking about their sex life.
Second of all, according to Lady Whistleblower, you’re at the very least canoodling with her. Who uses the word canoodle anymore? Okay, well, are you not romancing the district attorney? Why am I even surprised? Do you think that you’re so good in the sack that she’s just gonna forget to prosecute you? Is that what it is?
You know, that’s not the worst idea. I mean… You never filed any complaints in that department. I was being polite. I didn’t want to bruise your ego. I know that’s not true. But in all seriousness, Gabby, my relationship with Melinda Trask has nothing to do with you or Stefan. I’m just a heartbroken guy trying to move on.
I mean, the whole reason I got a matchmaker in the first place was so that you and I, we don’t have to do this sort of contentious thing anymore. I’m only trying to Okay, spare me your TED talk on your emotional resilience or whatever. I don’t care about your life, so stay the hell out of mine!
Look, I would love to see justice prevail, but again, without evidence, there’s not much I can do. Come on, Melinda. You’re a shark. Where are your fangs? Sharks don’t have fangs. Okay, your teeth. Your long, pointy, sharp teeth. Listen, I know you. And I know the brilliant, resourceful, talented attorney that you are.
I do. And I know that you can find a way to get a conviction even without the solid evidence. You just have to be creative. I am sorry, Stephan, but I am not breaking the law to help you. I’m not asking you to break the law. I’m asking you to do whatever you can within the law to put Lee away in a place where he will not come after me or Gabby ever again.
Has he threatened you lately? No, but I’m sure the news of our recent nuptials will push him over the edge. And I don’t want to spend the rest of our lives looking over our shoulders waiting for the other shoe to drop. Melinda, you don’t want to go to my funeral, do you? That depends. Will it be on a weekend?
Or a weekday?
Hey, Mom, it’s me. Listen, please give me a call back as soon as you get this. Poor Maggie, she must be so worried. Yeah, listen, I, there’s no reason to panic yet. I mean, there’s a million reasons why Victor’s plane could be missing. Okay, yeah, we’ll just keep thinking positively. Yeah, yeah, I just hope that my mom has some answers so I can put Maggie’s mind at ease.
That’s probably her right now. Mom?
Brady, come, come on. We both agreed that our relationship is… It’s over. It’s done. We’re good. We had so many obstacles and nothing has changed about that. Um, it’s not exactly true, Chloe. It’s heartbroken as I am that I lost custody of my daughter. Rachel’s living with Kristen now. So. What are you suggesting?
That you’d date me behind your daughter’s back? My God, Brady, if she found out that you’d kept that a secret, she’d feel so betrayed. She’d feel betrayed no matter what! Well, we maybe met, or… Maybe she would just realize that her father is in love with this wonderful woman, and she’d realize how wonderful you are in time.
And maybe she would even be happy for, for me and us together. That could happen. Brady, you… You are living in a fantasy land. And to be honest, even if Rachel wasn’t a factor, I have moved on with Xander. God,
really? Yeah, really. And you know I will always care about you. But, right now, the man I want to be with is Xander.
Please let Victor be with Bowen, Hope. Please. I’m sure Shawn will call back any minute and let us know. In the meantime, Maggie, why don’t you sit down on the couch and just try and relax?
You know, this is not how I envisioned this night going. It was supposed to be a joyful reunion with all of our family. I mean, sure, I knew there was a more than a decent chance that, that that dinner could turn out to be a big shouting match, but… Ending with Victor throwing his napkin on the table and storming out.
But I was so hopeful. Well, I would have been sorely disappointed if Uncle Vic didn’t call me an idiot at least a couple more times before it was all over. Same here. I was kinda hoping maybe he’d picked up a few new barbs across the pond, you know? I’ve actually come to enjoy his insults. Kind of makes me feel part of the family.
Well, rest assured that there will be plenty of insults to go around once Uncle Vic returns. Especially when he finds out how worried we were for absolutely no reason. Oh my God, we’re not going to hear the end of it. Oh, great. Sean, did you talk to your mom? Uh, I did. Is Victor still with her? Uh, no. No, he’s not.
Oh. Um, well, does she know if Victor’s flight took off late? Um, actually, it’s, um, it’s the opposite. Uh, Victor took off early. As in, um, three days ago. Oh,
beautiful. Who’s that from? My brother, Dario. Wow. Well, that is much nicer than the… 1970s microwave that my long lost cousin sent us. Complete with the meatloaf and frozen peas setting. Ugh. Yeah, well, I’m sorry to report that I donated it to the garbage truck. I’m glad you found a nice home for it. And hey, it’s like someone else, who was very thoughtful, dropped off another one.
Oh, my God. What? Stefan, you need to get rid of that right now.
Ugh, Leo Stark, that guspy little weasel. You know what, I’m gonna take that whistle from him and shove it so far. Melinda. Hi. I’m so glad I ran into you. You are? The way you dashed out of here yesterday, I thought you might be training for the Olympics. Though I do wonder, is being a total jackass considered a sport?
Okay, I get it. I deserve that. But please, let me explain. You don’t have to. I get it. You’re not that into me. I read the book. Actually, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
I don’t get it. If Uncle Vic left three days ago, where has he been all this time? Hope doesn’t know. She, uh, she was sure he was headed home. However, as far as I’m aware, he was, he was always due to return today. So, Victor’s been missing not just one evening, but three whole days? I’m sorry. That’s not helping.
It’s alright. It’s true. It is possible. He probably made a stop somewhere. Well, he probably found a Scotch and a crafts table in Monaco. Even so, wouldn’t he let Maggie know? I mean, I, I understand Victor being tight lipped about Poe’s location with good reason. But if he were flying somewhere, wouldn’t he at least put a quarter in a payphone and give Maggie a head heads?
I’m sorry. I’m making everyone just worry more. I’m… Lonnie. Actually, I couldn’t be more worried than I am right now. It is getting more and more strange, isn’t it? I know what I’ll do. I’ll call Shane at the ISA. Maybe he can find us some answers.
So let me get this straight. Victor left your mom three days ago. Did he say he was coming straight home? I mean, she just assumed that was the case. She said that he was, he was being vague about his plans. And did she say anything else? Anything that would indicate where Victor might have been going? No, no.
She just, she said that he… That he was very, he seemed very distracted. It’s like something was, something was weighing on him. And did she ask him about it? No, no. She said that she, she didn’t want to pry. Interesting. Well, it makes me wonder then, if maybe that had something to do with his disappearance.
Shane said he’ll look into it, but not to expect any answers anytime soon. Well, I guess then there’s no sense in everyone hanging around here. I got it. Mind staying? Keeping you company? No, no, I second that. I’m staying right here with you, Wanda. No, you should both go. I mean, honestly, I have Justin and, and Bonnie here, and I’m all right, really.
You should, you should go, both. You sure? Yeah, yeah, I’m sure. We’ll keep everyone updated, I promise. Hey, I’m sure this is all just a big misunderstanding, yeah?
Uncle Vic’s gonna walk through that door any moment now, I know it. I hope you’re right. Oh, um, earlier you said you had something to tell me. What was it?
Exactly. Are you saying, Chloe, I mean, are you really gonna, are you gonna marry Xander? Marry him? I, I haven’t decided that yet, but… All I know is that we are in a committed relationship, and for now, all I’m willing to offer you is friendship.
Well, um, I guess I’m gonna have to understand, you know what, I’ll try to understand this. Thank you. So, no more impulsive kisses? Aria’s about how you want me to come back to you. I’ll tell you what, I’ll do, I’ll do you one even better. I promise you’re not gonna find me outside your room at 2 in the morning holding a boombox over my head in a trench coat, alright?
If Xander
is what you want, I will try to
accept it. Thank you.
Hey. Friends? Yeah. Friends.
Um, gosh. I don’t remember what I was going to say. Oh, we were just talking about how I’d proposed to Chloe, and I was going on about how I’d moved on, since Sarah had too. I’m just thrown by Sarah’s pregnancy, and her determination to keep it from Xander. My God! He has a right to know that he’s going to be a father.
Um, you know what? It really wasn’t important. We can talk about it some other time. Of course. And please, just let me know as soon as you hear anything about Victor, yeah? Oh, I will. Promise.
Okay, wait, maybe, maybe my grandpa just needed some time to himself before he returned home. I mean, I mean, if his visit with my father had him shaken, which I’m sure that it did, then maybe, maybe he just needed some time to regroup, right? But he’d have to know that Maggie would worry. I mean, if he needed alone time, he, he should have found a way to get in touch with her.
Yeah, well, he’s never been known to be considerate of other people’s feelings. Not even his loved ones. I mean, you, you saw how he blamed me for what happened to my dad. Even though he knew you were already hurting. Yeah, and I haven’t spoken to him for months because of that very reason. But,
I mean, what if, what if something did happen to him? But if something happened to him, I would feel terrible. I mean, what if I never get the chance to work things out with her? Listen, Melinda, before we met up yesterday, I had a long talk with my sister, and she insisted that I couldn’t trust you. What? Why?
Uh, because you secretly tried to get a recorded confession out of me. I, I apologize for that. So, Wendy thought it was possible that you were… Playing some sort of long game. Trying to get close to me, to ensnare me. I’m afraid that once that got into my head, I couldn’t get it out. So, when we met up, I fled, and I admit, it was cowardly, and I’m sorry.
Honestly, uh, I’d like to just wipe this lake clean, get us back on track. So I take it you’re not worried anymore that I’m playing the long game, trying to ensnare you. No, I’m not. Besides, I’m an innocent man. Which means I have nothing to fear from you. Right? Listen, I know you. And I know the brilliant, resourceful, talented attorney that you are.
I do. And I know that you can find a way to get a conviction even without the solid evidence. You just have to be creative. Of course, you have nothing to fear. You see, um, the more we’ve gotten to know each other, the more that I believe in your innocence. But I totally understand if you’d have trouble trusting me.
So I have to ask, are you sure you want to give this another go? rancing the district attorney? I mean, why are you even surprised? Do you think that you’re so good on the side that she’s just going to forget to prosecute you? Is that what it is?
There’s nothing I’d like more.
I can’t believe Lee would have the gall to show up here like that. He said he wanted a fresh start, to be friends. But I know behind the BS talk of a detente is an ulterior motive. Probably wants us to lower our guard so he can drop a bomb on us, maybe even a literal one. Lee may be a homicidal maniac, but he’s not stupid.
He knows that if he gift wrapped a bomb and gave it to us, it’d be traced back to him. Yeah, well, I’d still feel better if you got rid of that thing. What? You’re not at all the least bit curious as to what might be in here? Oh, yeah. Yeah, let’s give in to our curiosity, and then all of a sudden you hear a big, loud bang.
Pull back to see the house in flames, smoke billowing out into the evening sky. Gabby, there’s not a bomb in this box.
See? Tick, tick, tick. You see? I knew it was a bomb. I am still not convinced. Listen, here’s a thought. Let’s just open. Okay, but just in case. I love you and I’ll see you in the afterlife. Ah. See? Would you look at that? It is just a harmless little clock. Okay. Well, it may not be a bond per se, but Li once told me that in Chinese culture, giving a clock as a gift is bad luck.
Really? Yes, really! Essentially, it’s wishing someone dead.
So the word normalcy. Total invention. Coined by Warren G. Harding, 1920. I’ll remember that next time I’m on Jeopardy.
You know, I like this.
That makes both of us.
So I have to address the elephant in the room. I suppose you heard by now that Gabby and Stefan tied the knot. You must have been pretty bummed about that. Yeah, if I’m being honest… There’s a kick in the gut. But, it helps to have a fascinating, gorgeous woman sitting across from me. Well, thank you. And uh, how about you?
I assume there’s still some lingering feelings for Stefan. Stefan who?
I’d like to propose a toast. To us. We may have gone off to a bumpy start. But something tells me we’re going to get it right this time. Actually, let me amend that. Um, to us. And to starting over. And if I may add something. I promise. No more hidden agendas.
As soon as Uncle Vic gets home, we’re gonna have that dinner. And in addition to that, we are all going to make a much bigger effort to get along. Speaking of dinner, Maggie, you must be starving. Why don’t I have Henderson warm up that chicken marsala from the other night? Well, the truth is, I… I don’t have much of an appetite.
In fact, I think I’m gonna go and lie down. Listen, if I somehow manage to fall asleep, you wake me the moment you hear anything, won’t you? Of course. Okay. But I have a feeling by tomorrow morning, Uncle Vic will have marched right through that door.
Why don’t I help you settle in upstairs? No. No, it’s okay, Bonnie. I’m fine. Are you sure? I’m sure.
It’s gonna be okay. Okay. Okay.
Dad, I didn’t want to say anything in front of Monty Mack, but This whole thing does not seem very good at all. Honestly, I don’t know what to think. Right. So I guess now we just… Wait. And pray. Try and stay positive. I will. I will. I’m, uh, I’m gonna go take off, so, um, just please keep me posted if you hear anything at all, all right?
I’ll let you know. Thanks, man. I’ll talk to you in a bit. Good night, Bonnie. Good night, sweetheart.
Honey, this waiting is so hard for you, I know. And Maggie, too. You know, I gotta go check on her, okay?
Shane?
Hello?
Well, I better get the hell out of here before I embarrass myself any further. Well, if you can’t embarrass yourself in front of your friends, what good are they?
Oh, wow. Let me guess. This knight in shining armor rode in to talk you out of accepting my marriage proposal. Actually, you’re right. I tried. You’ll be happy to know. That I failed. Miserably. I’ll see myself out. Wait, wait, wait. There’s, uh, Something you should know. About Victor. Oh, yeah, right. That was, that was the homecoming dinner.
No, that wasn’t one. He’s missing.
Hey, don’t go there. Okay, we don’t even know if anything’s even wrong. So really, there is no sense in torturing yourself over what ifs. Yeah, yeah, you’re right. You’re right. I’m sure Victor’s fine and he’s probably gonna be home any minute. When he is, he and I can sit down and we’ll repair our relationship.
You know, it’s, it’s moments like these when it makes you remember what’s important. Yeah. Instant perspective, right? Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I just hope that we get some answers
soon.
Thank you, Shane. Let me know if you hear anything else. What do you say?
The Coast Guard found wreckage from the Titan jet. It appears to have hung down over the Mediterranean. Oh, my God. What about Victor? No word yet on any survivors. Oh, honey. Oh, honey.
Oh, my God.
