THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
I said get away from her. Mr. Morgan, there’s been a misunderstanding. Jason — Let’s go! Now. No, no, you don’t have to do this. Please stop. Stop, Jason. You don’t have to do this. Please stop! Hey, Jason! Hey! Yo. You’re back. Thanks. Sorry. I meant to get you the horseshoe nails earlier. No worries. No worries. Thanks for saving me a trip. You still doing Cody’s job for him, Gio? Hey. Sorry to make you wait. No. Hey. No worries. Uh, you sounded so stressed over the phone. Is everything okay with the kids? Oh, everything’s fine. I just… I have something I need to discuss with you, and I thought it best to do it in person. Oh, it couldn’t wait till I got home? I mean, I was on my way when you called. What is going on? Hey, Nina. Willow. Hey, Carly. Uh, I don’t want to be rude, but Willow needed to speak with me about something, so could you give us a second? Oh. Actually, I invited Carly to join us. I have something to tell both of you, and I wanted you to hear it at the same time. Before I reflexively dial 911, can you just tell us why we’re here? And side note — if this is about a Scorpio girls spa weekend, I am so down. Me, too. Oh, uh, that does sound very nice. Uh, no, what I have in mind is a little bit more constructive. It was worth a shot. Uh, what’s your idea? I think you should give Emma an internship at Deception. [ Laughs ] Everything okay? Oh, yes. [ Chuckles ] You just caught me going through my work e-mails. I had to make sure there was no issues at the symposium in Miami. And it looks like everything is going according to plan. [ Breathing heavily ] What is it? What truth, Brad? The reason I’m here. I only got to come on this trip because… because I made Portia invite me. Define “made.” No, Spinelli. It wasn’t a bust at all. First you got us in and out of Valentin’s without being detected, and second, we got an actual lead. Martin definitely has info on Valentin, and I’m gonna find out what it — You know, I’m gonna call you back.
Hey, Cody’s my friend. I’m happy to help. See? Now, that is a friend. Oh, gosh. You guys want a cold beer? I got a couple that I managed to hide from Tracy back here. Thanks, but I’m gonna make sure all the gates and fences are locked up for the night. See you guys later. Yeah, you make sure you bill him for all this work you’re doing, huh? [ Chuckles ] I like that kid. Yeah, of course you do. He does half your job. [ Laughs ] I like him because he’s perceptive. Mm. You got something bugging you, man. He made himself scarce so you could talk about it. So, start talking. What’s up? Uh, you know, um… people use this word, “closure.”
Mm-hmm.
You know? Well, I got closure today with Sam’s death. And it’s not helping me at all. Yeah, we were just wrapping up. Maybe we can all have dinner together? Oh, um, I wish I could, but, um… I’m actually meeting Maxie for dinner at the Surf Lodge. Um, I was just… coming back to grab my heavy coat. It’s freezing outside. Well, don’t leave on my account. Oh, no. I’ll, um — I’ll hang out with you guys next time. Okay. I’ll be back later. Uh, Lulu. Um, I’m sorry. I don’t want to hold you up, but I… I do want to apologize for failing to realize just how sick Cyrus really was. I don’t blame you for Cyrus’s actions. Not at all. Thank you. Enjoy your dinner. You, too.
Oh, baby sister. I’m so sorry. Jason, whatever you’re about to do, please don’t. Trouble in paradise? What can I get you, Tracy? The truth. If something’s going on with Jason or your baby, I think it concerns me and the family. And by the way, Jason can be unreliable, but the family is not. Oh, my God. Tracy, make up your mind! One minute you’re reminding me of my place as staff. And now you’re all about the next generation of Quartermaines and legacy? That’s because when I found out you were pregnant, I had no idea you were carrying a Quartermaine. That, my friend, changes everything. I’m pretty sure neither one of you are gonna be too happy to hear what I have to say, but here it is. The kids and I are moving in with Drew. Wow. Okay, um… I’m gonna ask you to reconsider. We’ve been able to keep things stable for the kids so Michael can focus on his recovery. But if you do this and you take Michael’s children and you move in with Drew, that’s pushing Michael too far, and he won’t stand for it. I’m gonna have to politely decline this offer. I didn’t actually make an offer. Right. So what looks good? But can you tell me why you are not interested in an internship at Deception? I’m not not interested. It’s just not something I’ve ever thought about. Start thinking about it. Yeah. So formulating cosmetics is mostly chemistry, isn’t it, Maxie? Chemistry? Mm-hmm. Yep. That’s a huge part of it. But I’m not gonna hire you as a favor. I’m sorry, I won’t. There are hundreds of students who would kill to work at Deception, and it’s got to be something that you want. I did a favor for Dr. Robinson, and she was inclined to do one for me. Are we talking about the kind of favors that you used to do for Britt? Like changing test results or stealing an embryo? No, no, no. Nothing like that, I-I swear. And I didn’t even really do anything. I found out something Dr. Robinson wanted to keep private, so I agreed to just keep it to myself. No big deal. What on earth are you sorry for? Well, for starters, chasing your daughter out into the cold. Oh, don’t be silly, Martin. Come on now. She said she had dinner plans with her friend Maxie. They do have a lot to catch up on. Yeah, I can only imagine. Nonetheless, it’s blatantly obvious she don’t want anything to do with me. And, you know, given my connection to both Cyrus and Valentin, I can’t say that I blame her. Okay, she may feel that way right now, but she’s fundamentally a very fair person. You just give her a little bit of time, you know? And I think she’s going to see you the same way I see you. You have no idea how lucky I am to have you as a sister. Martin. I’m lucky to have you for a brother, too. Although, I wish Cyrus Renault and I had never crossed paths. But I am really grateful that I found you. [ Cellphone rings ] Oh, excuse me. Huh. My assistant. Darcy, hi. It’s so late. What’s up? The United States Congress? Uh, right, the Appropriations Committee. I see. Okay, then. Well, put ’em through. You could focus on any one of the many Quartermaines wandering around this place, but you choose me. Why? You don’t even like me. That’s ridiculous. Of course I do. I, uh…I appreciate you, and for the record, Jason is proving, uh, much more valuable of late. Then focus on Jason. All I want is to have this baby and be left alone. Oh, sorry. There are far too many people invested in that baby. In fact, if you disappeared tomorrow, the family would track you down. Is that a threat? Ha! No, it’s a reality check. The thought of you raising a baby on your own without any familial interference is a dream. Wake up. Oh, I-I have to go. I’m really — I’m very sorry. Emma, I will see you at home. Oh, and just for the record, I police the city, not you. This is a very good idea. Please think about it. Thank you, Maxie. Love you. Love you. I know this was her idea, but don’t go against it just because of that. It could be a great opportunity for you. I’ll definitely think about it. Okay. I could use some private time alone with my beautiful husband. Oh, I like the sound of that. [ Laughs ] [ Cellphone rings ] Mm. Mm, no! Excuse me. I gotta take this. [ Sighs ] It’s the mayor. Mm. Hey, Laura. What’s up? Hey, Curtis. I hope I’m not interrupting. Uh, it’s fine. Is everything okay? Uh, well, I was wondering if you could maybe stop by my apartment. There’s been sort of a big development. When I found out about this…thing, I went straight to Portia. No, Brad, stop. I — Stop, Brad! Just stop! I don’t want to hear another word about whatever it is that you are using to blackmail our co-chief of staff, ever! But it’s not blackmail. All I asked for was his trip to Miami! You are using something as leverage to get what you wanted from Portia! That is the very definition of blackmail, and the fact that you can’t even see that is why this is a giant mistake. Oh, come on. You’re too smart to kill me. Especially since you’ve become a suspect in another murder. What happens next depends on you. Good. What do you want me to do? I want the truth. And you have one chance to give it to me. Did you blow up Sonny’s penthouse? I did not blow up Mr. Corinthos’ residence. So the answer is no.
Here’s another truth. What happened in Africa was unique. You and Anne Devane infiltrated my camp under false pretenses. You were holding a friend captive. Who also infiltrated my camp. The lines were blurred. But now I’m here in Port Charles, setting up a legitimate business. There are laws and systems in place, and I intend to obey them. As for that other matter, why would I start a conflict between me and Mr. Corinthos and you? Why? You wouldn’t be the first person to come to Port Charles thinking they could take Sonny down. I have no reason to do that. And you returned my diamonds to me. So I have no problem with you, Mr. Morgan. You want to keep it that way? You stay away from Sasha. Anna: Mr. Morgan. Oh, Mr. Sidwell. It’s quite chilly, isn’t it, for an evening stroll? Sasha, you’re smarter than Willow. So why don’t you use that intelligence to figure out what’s best for you and your baby? Then figure out what part of that can coexist with the life that you’re already a part of. Not like Willow, who’s living in some world of her own fantastical creation. Carly, I’m telling you that the kids and I are moving in with Drew because I didn’t want you to be blindsided. I’m not asking for permission. Okay. But just to be clear, you’re not blindsiding me. You’re blindsiding Michael, and he’s the one you should care about. Michael filed for divorce. Did you think that we were going to reconcile or something? Because I can promise you, we are way past that point. I’m not asking you to get back together with Michael. I’m asking you to wait until Michael comes home before you shack up with his uncle, who betrayed him and destroyed his marriage. That’s what I’m asking you to do, Willow. What difference does it make if I move in with Drew now or six months from now? If Michael comes home in a year, will it be okay if I move in with Drew then? So you’re doing this, right? You’re just — You’re just doing this? Michael is fighting to heal and come back home to his kids. But that doesn’t matter to you. You just want to move in with Drew. That is not true, Carly. Willow does have a point. I have tried to be civil with you. But if you do this, you’re starting a war, and that’s on you. There’s not going to be a war. Lucas, please. I did realize that doing what I did to Portia was wrong. That’s why I told you. I didn’t want there to be any secrets between us. I was trying to be honest. Yeah, well, thanks for being honest before this huge mistake went any further. We’re not a mistake. Look, we were getting closer. I know you could feel it, too. I just wanted us to have that closeness again without anything hanging over it. Are you kidding me? Everything is hanging over it. Our history. This. You haven’t changed. And you’re never going to. Portia, I was hoping to see you. I just came to pick up a file. Um, you need an appointment if you have a medical issue. I don’t. Well, if that’s the case, we’re done here. Because I really don’t have anything more to say to you. That’s okay. I’ll do all the talking. You know, however Cyrus departed this Earth, it just doesn’t bring Sam back. It does make it so that me and Rocco and Danny and Scout don’t ever have to look at that bastard’s face ever again. Well, that’s something. That is something. It’s a big something, but it doesn’t make losing Sam any easier. Yeah. I bet it doesn’t make things between you and Lulu any easier either. No. No, it definitely doesn’t. Even though Cyrus was responsible for what happened to Sam. Yeah, but there’s just this, like, tension. This, like, wall between us. Sam did this beautiful thing for Lulu. And then… And — And I know she’s not a part of it, but it’s — Sam’s death, it’s like it’s there, and it’s always going to be there, like this — this thing that’s just hanging between us.
Housekeeping.
Maxie: Lulu? What are you doing? Gio! Wait up! Hey! I thought we were meeting up at the house. Yeah, we were going to. But then I got your text saying that you were down at the stables, so I thought maybe I could meet some horses. Now might not be great. Cody’s talking with Dante. I was just going to leave this outside. It’s okay. I really just want to talk to you about something. Sure. Yeah. What’s going on? My grandmother wants me to intern at Deception. Are you gonna do it? I don’t know. I sort of just feel like it’s her attempt to keep me supervised. Supervised as in out of trouble? You know what kind of makes this really hard is that I feel like Lulu’s trying to help. She sees that I’m grieving and she’s reaching out, and I just — I can’t. Yeah. No, you can’t let her help you because of Sam. Yeah. It’s like everything’s connected. You know? Mm-hmm. I can’t grieve Sam with Lulu. Yeah, but you can’t do it alone. And it’s not much, but hope you know you got me. Thank you. I do, and I appreciate that. Oddly enough, it’s been pretty easy talking to Brook Lynn about all this stuff. You guys have been friends a long time. Mm-hmm. We have. And we’ve been close and — and we have a history, and she knew Sam and she’s not all wrapped up in everything the way Lulu is. I mean, Lulu occupies a very unique position. That she does. And me taking help from Brook Lynn, that — that hurts Lulu. Probably doesn’t make it any easier knowing that your history with Brook Lynn is deeper than Lulu realizes. I never told her about that summer, and I have regretted that always. You mean the summer you were in love with Brook Lynn? What’s going on here? I don’t have time to explain. Can you just go away and forget you ever saw me? Don’t be rude. We both know I can’t and won’t go away until you tell me what’s going on. So whose room is this? Oh, my gosh. Did you meet someone? Is this role play? Ugh, you think that this is my big fantasy? I mean, I don’t judge. This is Martin Grey’s room. He is my uncle. Gross. Remember? Right. So why are you breaking into your uncle’s room? It’s not breaking in if you have a key. It is if you stole the key. It was in my pocket. Maxie, this is about Charlotte. Tell me what I can do to help. Be my lookout. Wait. What?! As unfortunate as it is that Michael isn’t here, in his absence, their mother will decide what’s best for them. And you think Drew is what’s best for them? I think that we need to trust Willow to know what’s best for herself and her family. [ Chuckles ] I’ve already seen what Willow does to family. I can’t believe I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I really thought you were gonna put your kids’ interests first. Boy, did I misjudge you. You are selfish to the core. You and Drew really belong together. You know that? I don’t need to listen to this. Carly, I’m sorry you feel this way. I tried to do the right thing by telling you first. Thank you, Mom, for everything.
How do you think that went? About as well as expected. Commissioner Devane! What a coincidence! Also out for an evening stroll, are we? No. I have you under surveillance. I understand that you paid a visit to the Quartermaines’ tonight. You know, before Mr. Morgan kindly escorted you down here. Oh. Interesting. [ Ship horn blows ] Ah! I hear my launch approaching. So good to see you both. I hope the rest of your evening is, um, pleasant. [ Hands clap ]
What the hell are you thinking? You could have been arrested tonight. He showed up at the Quartermaines’ and approached Sasha. I had to make sure he knows never to mess with her again. Alright. I understand why you’re so protective of Sasha. Do you remember when you told me that men target me for my money? Tracy, I did not mean to imply — They did. Took me a long time to accept it. But I’m an heiress. That’s my reality. You are so much more than that. [ Inhales deeply ] I know. So, my point is that when I accepted that reality…
…the love of my life came after me for my money. And we ended up falling in love. Luke Spencer? Luke Spencer. Why are you telling me this? Because, in my experience, if you realistically know who you are and what you want, the whole world can open up to you in ways you never expected. Jason, this family can offer you more than you ever realized. I’m done. Can you make me a cup of tea? With honey and lemon? My throat is parched from all this yapping. I just gave in to my worst impulses. I slipped. It’s not who I am anymore. I knew that if we could just be alone together that we could get back to us. And I took a chance and made it happen. Because I had to! Because I knew it’d be worth it! I still love you, Lucas. I know this is real. And I know you feel it, too. Of course I feel it. I love you, too. But to us, love means two very different things. Do you think you’re in the halls of Congress right now? Because you’re in General Hospital and I am the Co-Chief of Staff, and you are in my office that I did not invite you into. So if you excuse me, I’m leaving right now. Why the hostility, Portia? You and I have always gotten along. That was before you betrayed my husband, Drew. I didn’t betray Curtis, but, yes, things have gotten a little out of control between us. I still care about him. Mm-hmm. Okay. If you say so. Sure. Nothing’s happened that your help can’t fix. I’m not comfortable with any of this. Your business is between you and Curtis. Now, if you’ll excuse me. No. I’m sorry, Portia. But the only person that can fix things between me and Curtis… is you. Laura: Thanks for stopping by. Hope I didn’t ruin your evening. That depends. What’s this important development? Well, the city of Port Charles has been given approval to move ahead with the McConkey Esplanade project. The original one? Yes! Yes! The original as pitched by Aurora! [ Laughs ] And that is mostly due to you and to Jordan and all the hard work that you guys put into that project. I’m speechless. I know! Um, wow. This is huge for Aurora. And Port Charles. Yes. It is. It really, really is. I-I have one question, though. How did you manage to get around Drew Quartermaine? You do understand that you are still the prime suspect in Cyrus’ murder. And if you decided to help Sidwell off this mortal coil tonight, there were two surveillance officers watching you. Oh, I know. I saw them. I had nothing to do with Cyrus. I know that. Okay. But it just — it wouldn’t help your case with the D.A.’s office if Sidwell’s body was to be found floating in the harbor. I wasn’t gonna kill Sidwell. Okay. I just wanted to ask him if he was responsible for blowing up Sonny’s penthouse. And? He said he didn’t do it. Shocking. So was all this a waste of your time? No. Because I think Sidwell’s telling the truth.
[ Cellphone dings ]
Lulu, this is taking way too long! Could you please hurry up?! [ Knock on door ] Excuse me. [ Exhales sharply ] I think you’ve got the wrong room. [ Exhales sharply ] I don’t need to be “managed.” Sorry. That’s not what I meant. I think you’re just very passionate about stuff. Yeah, was my passion for cosmetics that obvious? No. But your passion for Chemistry kinda is. I’ve seen your class schedule. I know you’re taking Advanced Organic Chem, Physical Chemistry. Crazy smart, Emma. That was sort of my grandmother’s pitch earlier, too. She and Maxie seem to think I could be of some value to the brand. They’re right. What if you patent a revolutionary new face cream? Yeah, Gio, that sounds like something interns do every day. Think about the benefits of working with your family. You may rack up familial credit, which comes in handy when you push the boundaries. Yeah? What, you push any boundaries lately? You’d be surprised. To me, love means trust. I don’t expect my partner to be perfect, but… I need to be able to trust his failures and his flaws, to trust that those failures aren’t ultimately destructive to me or to the relationship. And I know it’s scary. You fear that the person might be upset with you or — or reject you, but in the end, you can’t let your fear outweigh your love for that person, and… And you never did that for me. Are you even hearing yourself? Y-You don’t let me have flaws. I make a mistake, I own up to it, and you still reject me. Well, that’s the risk of it all. All I ever wanted was to be with you. So why would I trust you with the truth when all you do is use it against me? I can’t do this, Brad. You’re right. I can’t trust you. And I punish you. And maybe it’s still all the Wiley stuff, but I can’t allow myself to accept another lie or half-truth. I can’t do it, Brad. Not again. Well, the credit for outmaneuvering Drew goes to one of the greatest masterminds ever. Mm. My Aunt Stella. Oh, my goodness! Tell me everything. Well, as it turns out, she goes way back with a certain high-ranking member who just happens to be on the Appropriations Committee. So you called in a favor. Well, let’s just say I worked a relationship. Y-Yeah. I mean, sure. That’s what we all do. Well, well done! We also managed to avoid unnecessary conflict with Sonny, which is a huge plus. But you know what? Most of all, I am just incredibly proud of you, my friend. Ohh. This is — It’s an amazing accomplishment. Thank you. Yeah. Are you at all concerned about fallout from Drew when he finds out about this? Drew already knows. But everything I do, everything I’ve done is completely above board. But this isn’t — this isn’t about Drew. This is about Port Charles. And I have zero interest in an ongoing battle with Drew. Let’s just hope he can take the “L” and we can all move forward from here. Portia: Let me be clear. Whatever you think that I can do for you in regards to Curtis, the answer is no. And this little interaction right here makes it very clear to me why Curtis wants absolutely nothing to do. I see. And why is that? Well, you don’t respect boundaries, for one. You only care about what you want, no matter who gets hurt in the process. Or, in this case, who’s inconvenienced. Am I… inconveniencing you? You’re giving it your best shot, Drew. I’m not getting involved with anything between you and Curtis. Curtis set limits, and you pushed past them. Curtis came back even harder. And to that, I say bravo. You know, I’m a little surprised, Portia, that you’re judging me so harshly, especially considering… how hard you tried to inconvenience Heather Webber. Maybe you’re right. Chances are, I’ll tell another lie at some point and break your heart again. Maybe it’s better we get out now before we get too close… and the fall is even harder. [ Sighs ] Lucas. You might find someone you can trust, and he’ll give you the perfect honesty at all times. He’ll be totally pure, with no shades of gray or dark edges. But I’ll always love you.
It’s true what they say, that all politics are local. But, you know, I think all politics are also personal. I know it certainly made me understand the value of knowing who my true friends are. I am very lucky to count you as one of them. Likewise. This has certainly shown me a side of Drew that I didn’t know existed. Yeah. I just hope he can stay in his lane. I’ll stay in mine. And there won’t be a need for trouble between us. Drew: Does Curtis know that you tampered with Heather Webber’s test results? ‘Cause that’s pretty dicey stuff. Seems unlikely that you’d stay on as Chief of Staff if that came out. Might even lose your medical license. Hm. [ Stammers ] I have no idea what you’re talking about, Drew. I really don’t.
You logged on to the G.H. database, and you changed the results of this blood test. Were you trying to keep Heather Webber in prison? That sounds unethical, Dr. Robinson. Might even be criminal. You know, Carly, you could have been a little easier on Willow. She’s moving our grandchildren in with Drew. Imagine how I would have reacted if I hadn’t known what was going on with Drew ahead of time. And, besides, I put you in the prime position to be defender and chief supporter. I bit my tongue so hard, it’s bleeding, but I can’t push against their whole “great love,” even the tiniest bit, because that’ll just isolate Willow to Drew even more. Yes, well, you have to keep approving all of Willow’s awful decisions. It doesn’t feel good defending their whole “Drew and me against the world” relationship. Drew is the problem. And no matter how it happens, he has to go. You didn’t think Sidwell was going to just admit to blowing up Sonny’s apartment, do you? He’s not going to tell you. I don’t think he did it. Well, I don’t know. I mean, alright, maybe that’s true. But you and I, we can both agree that this whole law-abiding, legitimate-businessmen act of his is just bull. He showed us who he really is in Africa. Yes, we know a guy like this doesn’t turn legit suddenly, but we don’t even know why he’s here. I’m not gonna wait around till he hurts somebody that I care about. Sidwell is dangerous. Yes! I agree. He’s dangerous. But right now we have something more pressing to deal with. [ Gasps ] Hi.
[ Keypad beeping ]
[ Line ringing ] Jenz Sidwell. It’s Sasha Corbin. Is the offer still on the table? It is. Fine. We have a deal.
Do you ever think about coming clean to Lulu about that summer? Oh, man, I don’t know. I mean… Wow. That was a long time ago. And it was over before it ever really began. And we never even saw each other after that. I went back to Bensonhurst. Brook Lynn went on tour with her mom. Did you want to see her again? [ Sighs ] I don’t know, man. I mean, w-we were kids. It was a summer thing. I mean, it’s not like anything came of that. Yeah, but, I mean… I mean, what if something did come from it? [ Door opens ] [ Chuckles ]
You! I was hoping to find you! I have a bone to pick with you, mister! Mister Grey! Mister Martin Grey! Me? Absolutely. You know, ever since you dumped Lucy, things at Deception have not been the same. I was thinking you guys need to reconnect. Or find some closure. You know, whatever. But the future of our company really depends on it, so why don’t we head to my office and we’ll discuss details? No. Wait. Maxie, just a second. What exactly is going on here?
