[ Crickets chirping ]
Liam: Okay, how much time until the kids get home?
Hope: Two words for you: Sleep. Over.
[ Exaggerated gasp ]
Liam: Both of them?
Hope: Mm-hmm. Yup, so…
Liam: [ Whispering ] Yes.
Hope: We have the entire night to ourselves. And I plan on devoting that to my very handsome husband.
Liam: Oh, no complaints here.
Finn: Hey. Thanks again for taking on bedtime duties solo.
Steffy: Hey, my husband wants an after-dinner dip in the ocean and I make that happen. No ulterior motives here, I swear.
Steffy: None whatsoever. No.
Finn: Oh, okay, okay.
Steffy: Mm. You’re just so sexy. And I’m so lucky to be your wife. Not because of… all of this. I mean– I mean, yes, but… but this. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.
Finn: I think I’m the lucky one. I’m married to a woman that’s such a beautiful force of nature. Come here.
[ Pencil scratching ]
R.J.: You’re always sketching, aren’t you, thomas?
Thomas: What’s that?
R.J.: Oh, you know. Just you and a sketchpad, never far apart. Is dad that much of a tyrant, you know? He’s got you designing 24/7?
R.J.: Okay. Never mind. Seems like you’re in some sort of artistic trance. Well, I’ll let you be.
Thomas: Hang on, R.J. I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Hold on.
[ Laughs ] I just… yeah, you know what? I should– I should take a– a minute away from this. I’ve been working on it for a while.
R.J.: Wow. Looks great.
R.J.: Can totally see hope wearing it. That’s the whole point, right? Why you two are so successful? You know, her visions coming to life through your hands?
Thomas: My hands.
R.J.: Yeah, I’m assuming that’s how you, uh, normally hold a pencil, unless you’ve been designing by foot, all of these years. ‘Cause if so, dude, you gotta let me record that. We could go viral.
[ Thomas chuckles ] Yeah.
R.J.: So, you seriously seem to be working a lot. You ever get bored of being in the office?
Thomas: No, not really. I– I– I like it. I love being here and being productive. But what about you? Why– why are you here at this hour?
R.J.: Oh, I was just having dinner with mom across the street. Thought I’d pop in, see if hope was still here. Do you know where she is?
Thomas: No. Should I?
R.J.: Uh, yeah.
[ Chuckles ] From what I’ve heard, it sounds like hope spends all of her time with you.
Liam: This night certainly took a turn. Here, I thought I was gonna be home alone with the kids, while you were working late.
Hope: Yeah. I think there have been too many late work nights lately. And I– I need some much-needed hubby time. And, uh, I think we need to make more nights like this a priority. I really wanna spend more time with each other, focusing on us, our relationship, and I’m, um… I’m sorry that I haven’t been there for you as much as I would like to be right now.
Finn: Hayes get his 10 kisses?
Steffy: Oh! More like 12.
Finn: Oh, the boy’s upping his game?
Steffy: He certainly knows how to work me.
Finn: Yeah, well, like father, like son.
Steffy: [ Laughs ] Yeah, that is true.
[ Groaning ]
Finn: You okay?
Steffy: Yeah, no, it’s just, um… ah…
Steffy: Something happened at the office today.
Finn: Something that worries you? Feeling sluggish or weighed down?
[ R.J. Chuckles ]
R.J.: You know, I think it’s pretty cool, that my half-brother, through my father, is designing for my half-sister through my mom. Makes me feel like I’m a part of it all. You know, like I’m this thing connecting everyone together.
R.J.: But, you know one of the reasons I was out of the country for so long, thomas? I don’t necessarily like being the one connecting everybody. It’s a lot of pressure. I– you know? It’s– and it’s just asking for trouble. Especially when someone is bringing on a lot of drama.
[ Thomas chortles ]
Thomas: Yeah. Someone. I know that someone is me.
R.J.: Thomas, you’re my brother. Okay? I’m always going to care about you. But… you crossed lines that should have never been crossed. And you didn’t just do it one time, thomas. You did it multiple times.
Thomas: You’re right. I did. Look, I– I’ve been working on myself and I think I’m finally the kind of brother you can actually be proud of.
R.J.: We’re good now, thomas. I’m– I’m taking you at your word. Okay? But you understand why I’ve been away for so long, right? Like, you get it?
Thomas: Yeah, I get it. And I promise I don’t want to meddle in our dad’s love life ever again.
R.J.: I mean, that’s– that’s good. I’m glad to hear it. If our dad decides to get back together with my mom or your mom, or… I don’t know, someone else entirely, it’s– it’s their business. It’s not ours, right?
Thomas: Yeah. I’ve interfered for the last time. All right? Their– their relationships, their problems. It’s their business.
R.J.: Facts. And, you know, I’m assuming it’s the same deal with hope. Right? No more interfering there. Thomas, where do things stand between you and my sister?
Liam: Ooh, what do we got? What do we got? What do we got? What is this? Is this the, um… is this that cab we got from the winery last summer?
Liam: Wow. You know something? I kind of thought you were saving it for our anniversary.
Hope: Saving it for a special occasion. Which this is. A toast. To what really matters. I– I know I have been pretty focused on work lately, but at the end of the day, nothing matters more to me than this family. My handsome husband. Our beautiful children. This house that we’ve made a home. So, here’s to us.
Liam: To us.
[ Clinking ]
Finn: Honey, what’s going on? Hmm? A situation at work? Is it something I can help with?
Steffy: No. But it’s really sweet of you to offer. And I’m not entirely sure if it’s even a situation or… maybe I’m reading too much into it. God, I hope so, because there’s so much riding on the line.
Finn: A while ago you were worried about hope for the future. And whether or not thomas should work on the line again. Does this have anything to do with that? With hope and your brother?
If you have this…
Thomas: Hope and I are doing really well now. As co-parents, as coworkers. I mean, look, we’ve got a strong and solid and platonic relationship.
R.J.: And you’ve accepted that’s just all it’s ever gonna be?
Thomas: Yeah. Look, I– I get it. She’s your sister. You’re protective. I know exactly how that feels. You love her.
R.J.: Yeah, of course. I mean, she’s amazing. She deserves the best.
Thomas: She does.
R.J.: You thought that was you for a long time, didn’t you, thomas?
Thomas: Look, I came back from new york and I was a single dad. I– I didn’t know how to fill my son’s life and– and– and he needed a mother and he connected with hope. And it was a beautiful thing and she really, really filled that role in his life. And for that I will always love her.
R.J.: I get it. Hope is a very caring, kind person. But she’s married to someone else now, thomas.
Thomas: I get that. And I didn’t respect that marriage in the past. I did a lot of things that hurt a lot of people. Especially in our family and… I don’t know how, but at some point, I was able to earn back some of their forgiveness. I don’t think I deserve it. But I think I finally got to the point where I realize in myself, I– I’m not that person anymore. So, I can promise you, hope and her marriage to liam, they have nothing to worry about.
Liam: I hope you know… how much this means to me. How you’ve invested in us, I-in our marriage. Um, ’cause I admit, I– you know, I was worried when you said that you would work with thomas again. I just kind of assumed it would put a strain on the relationship, especially with you spending the majority of your time at– at the office. But, you know–
Hope: Liam, can we–
Hope: — Maybe not talk about thomas? Tonight is supposed to be about us.
Liam: Yes. Yes. That’s way better, way better topic. Us. Uh, um, much more interesting.
Hope: Yeah. And, uh, sexier, too.
Liam: Yeah. Yeah.
Finn: So, this problem weighing on you, it’s– it’s about hope for the future, isn’t it?
Steffy: Not only is my husband incredibly sexy, he is very perceptive. I– no, seriously, you are, like, the smartest man I know.
Finn: So, that means I’m right.
Steffy: The line is doing well. The preorders are doing better than expected.
Finn: Okay, well, that’s– that’s great.
Steffy: It is great. It is. Uh, but–
Finn: Well, so, if you aren’t concerned about the line itself, that must mean that… you’re concerned about the people behind it. Was it a mistake letting hope and thomas work together?
[ Steffy laughs softly ] Life… doesn’t stop for diabetes.
R.J.: I’m impressed. You made some serious improvements, man. And I’m– I’m genuinely proud of the person you’re becoming.
Thomas: Hey, right back at you.
R.J.: Oh, come on, you don’t mean that. You’re just happy that I’m wasting my life away on the internet.
Thomas: Um, I don’t know if I would define lining up sponsorships and traveling all over the world on those sponsorships as “wasting time.”
[ Soft chuckle ]
R.J.: I just got a great idea.
R.J.: You should explain that to dad.
R.J.: Why not?
Thomas: Come on.
Thomas: No. I just told you that I am not getting involved in anybody’s business or meddling around. Okay? And I don’t think anybody could tell dad that, uh, ridge forrester, jr. Is not supposed to be a fashion designer. It’s not happening. But, you know what? If you ever feel like you wanna come in here, you wanna work on some designs with me, or just see the process, you’re always welcome. I’m– I’m right here.
R.J.: Thank you, thomas. I appreciate it.
Thomas: Glad you’re back, R.J.
R.J.: Well, hey, that makes two of us.
[ Contented sighing ]
Liam: Wow. Okay. Wow. That was, uh… that was, uh… that– that ju– that was, um… I don’t know what’s gotten into you lately, but you have– you have never been more passionate or– or in the moment. Oh, my god, I– I love it. It’s amazing.
Hope: Yeah, I just, um… just want you to know how I feel. It’s important for me to… to show you how much I love you.
Finn: You’re concerned with your brother collaborating with hope?
Steffy: Yeah, you’re right.
Finn: Well, have you not been reassuring liam about all this? Just tell him that there’s no reason to worry?
Steffy: Yes, I have.
Finn: Look, I– I know he’s not crazy about the idea of thomas and hope spending so much time together.
Steffy: Mm-hmm. Mm, that’s– that’s putting it mildly.
Finn: And despite all the work and therapy thomas has put in, he still thinks that– thomas is obsessed with hope and that he’s gonna make a move and– and try and do something. And I thought at least, well, until tonight, that you felt the opposite. I th-thought you believed in thomas.
Steffy: I– I do. That hasn’t changed.
Finn: Okay. Well, so much for being the smartest man. You know, ’cause I– I thought that’s where you were–
Steffy: No, no, no, I– look. Thomas is better. And I– I trust him completely. And I won’t let anyone or anything derail the progress he’s made.
Finn: Uh, okay. So, you’re– you’re concerned with liam and his negativity? Try not to worry. Okay? Liam will figure it out for himself. H-he will see that there is no problem and that there’s no reason to be worried.
Steffy: Let’s not waste any more time talking about hope or liam.
Finn: Got something else in mind?
Steffy: Yeah, I have something in mind. Doesn’t involve talking.
Steffy: Do you have
feelings for thomas?
Are you actually turning
into your mother?
Hope: You know, moments like this are so important. And I– I know I’ve been really distracted with work lately and I just– I hope you know how much you and our family– I mean, you come first, always. I– I love you and you’ll never doubt that, right?
Liam: I don’t doubt you. I have never doubted you. I have never questioned your feelings or your loyalty, and I never will.
