Ridge: You know, I hate asking you this, but put yourself in my shoes. I had people from child services come to my dad’s house, question my son, my grandson. Took everything in me not to lose it.

Ridge: Just please be honest with me. Just tell me. Did you do this? Did you call cps on my son?
[ Birds squawking and waves
Steffy: Mom?
Taylor: Hey, sweetie. How was your meeting?
Steffy: Uh, good, good. Paris and zende are really stepping it up. Finn stopped by.
Taylor: That’s very sweet of him.
Steffy: What is it? What’s wrong?
Taylor: I’m just– I’m just processing.
Steffy: Mom, you can talk to me.
Taylor: You know, I– I– I love your father so much, you know? He knows it, and you and thomas know. Even brooke knows, but–
Steffy: Dad loves you. He flat out told me.
Taylor: Yeah. Yeah, I’m just, um… I’m tired of the back-and-forth and the mixed signals. It feels like…
[ Steffy sighs ] Feels like history is repeating itself, and I did not come back to L.A. For this.
Steffy: Mom, where’s this coming from?
Taylor: Oh, I’ve been thinking about it a lot. I’ve been watching it play out in real time.
Steffy: I’m not–
Taylor: Sorry.
Steffy: I’m not following.
Taylor: I– I– I– I have just been hit with some common sense this week. Everything regarding ridge and brooke and where I fit in and… you know, I told your dad today that it feels like it’s a– it’s a karmic lesson or something. Me– me waiting for him to realize that brooke doesn’t make him happy. So he can choose us only to watch him go back to brooke’S. I know how this story ends.
Steffy: It’s not gonna happen. It’s not gonna happen. Dad’s at the end of his patience with brooke. Their marriage is not gonna last, I’m telling you.
Taylor: I am not a consolation prize.
> Steffy: I get that. But, I see you two together. You’re incredible, mom, and it’s not because brooke is terrible. It’s because dad is in love with you and that’s what drives brooke crazy.
Taylor: It doesn’t matter.
Steffy: Fine. If you want to give up, I’ll respect that. But don’t give up because of brooke. I’m telling you, you and dad are wonderful together.
Taylor: Yeah, we really are. We are wonderful together. And he’s married to brooke.
Brooke: You’re asking me if I called cps?
Ridge: Listen, I don’t think you’d do anything like that, but you mentioned that you would if–
Brooke: Ridge, it wasn’t me.
Ridge: It wasn’t you? Okay.
Brooke: Look, I– I understand. You had to ask. But the important thing is that douglas is safe.
Ridge: And– and he is safe. He’s always been safe, and this– this wasn’t– this wasn’t fair to thomas at all. I mean, nothing’s gonna happen here. All right?
Brooke: Okay.
Ridge: There’s a lot of things going on. I’ll call you later.
[ Beep ] Brooke said she didn’t do it.
Thomas: I’m sure that’s what she said.
Ridge: Thomas, come on.
Thomas: Look, I– I know you want to defend your wife, but I mean, do you actually believe that that’s true? We really had our hands full with our two-year-old.
Taylor: I– I hear– I hear what you’re saying. But, honey, I– I’ve been on this marriage-go-round for decades. I want to get off.
Steffy: Mom, I know you’re devastated, but you can’t give up. You’ve been in other relationships. Has anyone made you feel the way dad does?
Taylor: No. It hasn’t always been a good thing, you know?
Steffy: Well, I think you and dad are meant to be, and i don’t care if brooke talks about destiny. You’re his true love. You are.

Steffy: Exactly. When dad proposed to you?
Taylor: Yeah. The boat, the deserted island, the treasure hunt.

Taylor: He said that I was the most important woman in his life. The only woman. It was like a fairy tale.
Steffy: It was.
Taylor: There was no happily ever after. Steffy, I’ve been in love with your father for over 30 years. And so much has happened, but I’m the other woman. I know I am on the wrong side of history on this one. Brooke is married to your father. I am not the homewrecker here. That is her karma. It is not mine.
Liam: Sorry I ran off like that. It’s, you know, my dad. When he says “work comes first,” you know, it’s, uh… oh, sorry. Thought– I thought hope was in here. She go down to the cabin?
Brooke: I’m not sure.
Liam: You okay?
Brooke: Um, yeah. I– I don’t want to get into it.
Liam: Yeah, I– I don’t want to pry, but I do care about ya, and, uh, you don’t seem okay.
Brooke: It’s just I have a lot on my mind, a lot I’m trying to process.
Liam: With ridge?
Brooke: Yeah. Ridge. Thomas.
Liam: Is this about the whole thomas/knife thing? Damn it, I wish we could just go over to the house, grab douglas, and get him the hell out of there, like, right now.
Brooke: Me too.
Thomas: Look, dad, I– I know you’re in a tough place and you want to believe brooke, but, come on, you’re not actually buying this, right?
Ridge: She said she didn’t call cps, and I believe her, yes.
Thomas: She’s lying.
Ridge: Stop! That’s my wife. She said she didn’t do it, so she didn’t do it. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be angry at you. I’m just– it’S…
Thomas: It’s all right. We’re both frustrated.
Ridge: Well, let’s be frustrated with the people who did this to us, people who are trying to tear apart out family. It’s not brooke.
Thomas: There is a way we could find out.
Ridge: What are you talking about?
Thomas: You remember walter, product development?
Ridge: Walter, yeah, sure. What does he have to do with this?
Thomas: Oh, he decided to leave fashion and work in the, uh, the social services. I mean, he– he’s a consultant for a few branches. I think one of them is child protective services, so I’m sure they record those calls. He could probably tell us who made the call.

[ Steffy chuckles lightly ]
[ Phone ringing ]
[ Beep ]
Steffy: Hey, bill.
Bill: Hey, steffy. Uh, listen, I’m rushing to a meeting, so I’m gonna cut to the chase. I’m putting the aspen home up for sale. I know how much you love it there, so I wanted to give you the first opportunity at it.
Steffy: Oh, wow. Uh, uh, that’s very nice of you. Thank you for the offer.
Bill: Listen, nobody’s there at the moment, so if you want to go check it out, you’re welcome to do that. In fact, uh, you can use my jet. I’ll have othello set it up for you.
Steffy?
Steffy: Uh, yeah, yeah, thank you. I’ll– I’ll– I’ll get back to you, okay? Thanks.
Taylor: Who was that?
Steffy: It doesn’t– it doesn’t matter. Look, I want to continue this conversation about dad.
Taylor: About me moving on with my life. That’s great.
Steffy: Dad loves you. And you love dad. I’m not asking you to be a homewrecker. Dad and brooke’s home was wrecked long ago.
Taylor: Yeah, well, this isn’t the first time their marriage has fallen apart because of brooke’s manipulative games, and it won’t be the last. I know how this story ends. Lots of drama, tears for days, and your dad ends up with brooke.
Liam: It kind of seems like maybe something else is going on. Is there something I’m missing?
Brooke: Ridge called while you were out. He was very upset.
Liam: Oh. Okay. Why?
Brooke: Well, as you know, thomas taking douglas to live with him at eric’s has put kind of a strain on our marriage.
Liam: Yeah, hope’s been, uh, worried about that. Not gonna lie, I have been too.
Brooke: Ridge and I always work things out. My main concern is douglas. Thomas is dangerous. I mean, yes, he’s made strides to make himself a better person, but who changes that much that fast?
Liam: I agree 100%.
Brooke: Feel like he’s just a crazy man wielding a knife around his child. And ridge doesn’t understand the danger it is for douglas to be there.
Liam: Neither does hope. I just– I don’t know. I– I think, um, I think maybe they’re so invested in– in thomas being well that– that it’s clouding their judgment. I– I can’t believe that douglas has been over there for this long. I… all right, well, anyway, what– so, what– what did happen? Is it you and ridge arguing over thomas and douglas again?
Brooke: No. No, but I can understand why his anger was directed at me. Child protective services were called to go check on thomas’ treatment of douglas, and ridge is very upset.
[ Brooke sighs ]
Thomas: Thank you.
Ridge: For what?
Thomas: For calling walter.
Ridge: No, it’s a good idea. We need to figure out who made that phone call.
Thomas: Yeah.
[ Knocking at door ]
Ridge: Here we go. Walter.
Walter: Ridge forrester, hey.
Ridge: How long has it been?
Walter: Uh, since you were teaching this guy how to drive a stick. Told you not to let him learn on the porsche.
Ridge: And you were right. I miss that car.
[ Walter laughs ]
Thomas: I’m a much better driver now, thankfully. It’s good to see you.
Walter: Good to see you, both of you.
Ridge: It is good to see you.
Walter: Yeah.
Ridge: Wasn’t easy losing you at forrester.
Walter: Are you kidding? It wasn’t easy leaving.
Ridge: But you’ve got a new job now, right? Helping people. Helping children.
Walter: It’s the main department my company consults for.
Ridge: That’s great.
Walter: So, what’s going on? Your call sounded urgent.
Ridge: It– it is urgent, walter. Uh, look. Thomas just moved into my dad’s house with his son douglas, and today, two cps officers showed up to question the boy.
Walter: Really?
Ridge: I just want to make it clear that– that– that douglas is safe and he’s happy and healthy in this house, and the officers saw that right away.
Walter: That’s really great to hear. Is this why you wanted to see me?
Ridge: We wanted to see you, walter, ’cause we’d like to know who made the phone call. ‘Cause either someone was deeply misinformed or someone was trying to hurt my family or my son’s name. So we need to see who made the call. I’m jonathan lawson
Steffy: Mom, I understand that you don’t want history to repeat itself, but you and dad have been great, and dad and brooke’s marriage is barely holding on. Why give up now?
Taylor: Because I don’t like who I am right now. I’m fighting with brooke over your father.
Steffy: But he’s finally realizing who brooke really is. And he’s realizing what he has with you. You honestly believe that he’s not in love with you, really?
Taylor: No, I know– I know he is. He’s in love with me while he’s married to brooke, trying to make a decision. That is– that is brooke’s karma coming back. I’m not gonna do to her what she did to me. To us. I’ll respect the marriage. I– I just can’t do it here.
Steffy: What are you saying?
Taylor: I just need to get out of L.A. I need to go.
Steffy: What?
Taylor: I just…
Steffy: No.
Taylor: Just temporary, I promise. I just– I don’t want to be here.
Steffy: Okay. If you’re not going permanently, then… I’ll go with you. We could go to aspen.
Taylor: Aspen?
Steffy: Yes, aspen. I was just on the phone with bill. He’s selling his house. He wanted me to go check it out. So that’s where we’ll go.
Taylor: Honey, you have– you have finn. You have your kids. You have your job.
Steffy: Mom, let me worry about that.
Taylor: Honey, just, I–
Steffy: No, mom, you’ve always supported me. You’ve always been there for me. Now it’s my turn. You want to get away for a little bit? Fine. But you’re not doing this alone. I’m just never gonna stop giving up that you and dad belong together, that you’ll be happy. You’re gonna reunite.
Liam: Cps?
Brooke: Yes.
Liam: And, what, they just showed up at eric’s? Started questioning thomas and douglas?
Brooke: They did.
Liam: I– I’m– I’m so confused. What– who would– who would call cps on thomas?
Walter: Ridge, what you’re asking me–
Ridge: I wouldn’t ask you at all if it wasn’t for my family. It’s my son’s name.
Walter: I can’t play you a recording from a cps call. It’s unethical.
Ridge: All of this is unethical. I have strangers coming to my dad’s house and questioning my son like he’s a criminal, looking at douglas like he’s being abused. He’s a good father.
Walter: I don’t doubt that, but what you’re asking me–
Ridge: What I’m asking you is to try to help me. Who’s trying to tear apart my family? I want to know who made the phone call.
[ Walter sighs ]
Walter: I understand your predicament, I really do. I feel for you, but I– I can’t– I can’t give you confidential information.
Thomas: Look, hey, hey. This would be a personal favor to us. I realize that it’s stressful to you, but it’s gonna be off the record, okay? No one’s gonna find out.
Walter: I– I could lose my license, my livelihood.
Ridge: I wouldn’t let that happen.
[ Walter sighs ]
Walter: If it was anyone other than you– you have to promise me you won’t say a word to anyone about any of this, especially the person who made the phone call.
Thomas: I promise.
Ridge: No one’s ever gonna know.
Walter: Douglas?
Ridge: Douglas forrester.
Walter: It’s the wrong phone. Work phone. There.
[ Walter sighs ] Douglas forrester. I found the case. Case is closed. No findings of concern or need for follow-up. There is a voice recording of the phone call attached. Before I play it, you have to promise me both again that you won’t say a word to anyone.
Thomas: We won’T.
Ridge: Play it.
[ Beep ]
