Days of Our Lives Update

Brady sees Sarah at the hospital after dropping Rachel off for therapy. Sarah talks about being glad because she’s a big believer in therapy. Sarah then informs Brady that she and Xander are about to start couples therapy. Brady is surprised that Xander agreed to that while Sarah admits she made it mandatory to give their relationship another chance. Brady says it’s better to deal with things head on, especially when there’s kids involved.
Johnny and Chanel are at home as Johnny wonders if he should text Holly again and questions why she isn’t reading his texts as he needs to know why she sent him those provocative photos and complains that the timing couldn’t have been worse in the middle of their adoption meeting. Johnny remarks that he doesn’t know what she was thinking.
Arianna and Holly get set up in their new dorm room while Holly continues to complain and blame herself, worrying that she could get expelled. Holly then decides it’s okay and might be a blessing in disguise if she got kicked out of Salem U because she’s starting to hate it there.
Tate and Sophia get sent on break at the Brady Pub. Tate tells her that he’s just going to take a walk on the pier but Sophia gets shocked by something she sees on her phone.
JJ goes to see Jada in her office at the police station. Jada says she didn’t get a chance to thank him for everything he did to help restore order in the town square during the blackout as she’s sure it was challenging. JJ confirms that it was. Jada asks if there’s something he wants to share with her. JJ responds that there is something he wants to talk to her about. JJ then hands over his badge and announces he’s resigning from the force.
Theo walks through the town square and thinks back to JJ stopping him there during the blackout, triggering flashbacks to when JJ shot him. Abe then appears and startles him, asking if he’s alright. Theo says he’s okay and that he was just lost in thought. Abe asks if it’s because of the blackout and hopes it didn’t affect his feelings about moving back here. Theo responds that there’s a lot to think about because being back in Salem stirs up all kinds of feelings.
Arianna questions Holly hating it at Salem U, arguing that they’ve had some epic times. Holly assures that she loves being her roommate, but aside from that, her life is a total disaster as she points out that Tate lives down the hall from them and he and Sophia are in her film class. Arianna argues that Tate is just a guy while she is a queen. Holly calls herself the queen of screwups. Arianna insists that Holly can do so much better, pointing out that Tate cheated and not her. Holly thought they could get through everything as she doesn’t understand why everything went sideways.
Tate asks Sophia what’s going on. Sophia informs him that a friend told her that Holly is seeing an older, married guy and she’s sorry to just drop that on him. Tate finds that hard to believe and questions who the guy is. Sophia claims it’s none other than Johnny DiMera.
Chanel tells Johnny that if Holly thought she could come between them, she’s sadly mistaken. Johnny argues that this doesn’t seem like Holly to be this deluded and spiteful. Johnny is thankful that Chanel believes in him. Chanel talks about being through a lot together and their love kept them strong. Chanel hopes this hasn’t messed up their chances to adopt Tesoro because he has her heart already as they hug.
Sarah tells Brady that she and Xander still have a long way to go, but she’s feeling hopeful for the first time in a long time. Brady gets a text and tells Sarah that he’s waiting on an important message, but is disappointed by what he sees.
JJ explains to Jada how he saw Theo in the town square when they were trying to clear everyone out. Jada tells him that Theo told her something happened in the square and he seemed pretty shaken up. JJ admits they both were as it felt so much like what happened last time when he shot him.
Abe tells Theo that the only thing he’s ever wanted is for him to be happy. Abe promises that his mom would be as proud of him as he is as they hug.
Tate tells Sophia that this doesn’t make any sense. Sophia feels it kind of does, bringing up how Holly had a crush on Johnny in the past. Tate insists that she was totally over him. Sophia says she thought so too, but maybe Johnny becoming her college professor got her interested again.
Arianna promises Holly that everything is going to get better and encourages her to give things a chance. Holly then checks her new phone and finds out all her photos and texts are gone from the cloud and wonders why she has all these texts and messages from Johnny.
Chanel apologizes for how she first reacted to seeing the pictures that Holly sent him. Johnny understands she was shocked and upset. Chanel brings up that he did say Holly just ended things with Tate and had been drinking. Johnny then gets a call back from Holly, who says she got his text and asks what’s going on. Johnny tells her that he and Chanel need to speak with her right away. Holly asks if it’s about her paper. Johnny says he’d rather not discuss it over the phone, so Holly agrees to come by his place. Johnny says they will be waiting for her and hangs up.
Sarah asks if Brady got bad news. Brady says it’s just disappointing as he thought he had a lead on Tate’s baby, but it turns out he was wrong.
Chanel asks Johnny how Holly sounded on the phone. Johnny says she sounded like she had no idea why he was calling and suggests she’s embarrassed after sobering up. Chanel remarks that she should be. Holly then shows up at their door.
Tate doesn’t believe Holly would be hooking up with Johnny, pointing out that he’s happily married. Sophia agrees that it’s pretty extreme. Tate asks if it’s just one person saying this. Sophia claims that her friend heard it from others and rumors get around. Tate suggests they could just be trying to cause trouble. Sophia suggests maybe Holly made up the rumor herself to make Tate jealous or punish him but Tate says she wouldn’t do that. Sophia points out that Tate did say she was pretty hurt when she found out about them hanging out. Tate asks how Sophia thinks Holly found out that they kissed.
Abe promises Theo that he won’t bug him about getting a job or moving to Salem permanently as he then walks away. Arianna comes by with her bag of laundry, so Theo offers her a hand which she accepts.
JJ tells Jada that he thinks he and Theo both relived that terrible moment when he shot him. Jada asks if JJ thinks he acted inappropriately last night. JJ wants to say no and that he did everything by the book, but he really doesn’t know.
Johnny asks Holly how she is feeling today. Holly says she has a sore throat from inhaling smoke but she’ll manage. Holly admits she’s feeling ashamed and tells them about how she caused the fire which Johnny says they heard about. Holly asks if that’s why they called her over. Johnny argues that she must know it’s about the photos she sent. Holly questions what photos. Johnny asks if that’s how she wants to play this and tells her to get out her phone. Holly explains that she got a new phone since she lost her old one in the fire and everything is gone. Johnny says they’ll use his then and shows her the photos on his phone which shocks Holly.
Jada tells JJ that Theo told her something happened and brought up racial profiling. Jada then asks if JJ would have stopped him if he were white. JJ assures that he would have since there was a city wide curfew in effect and he was stopping everyone of all races. JJ believes he was consistent with his actions and attitudes. JJ feels he was direct, but not aggressive. Jada asks if JJ escalated the situation inappropriately or if he drew his weapon. JJ confirms he did not. Jada feels he did everything by the book, so she questions why he is turning in his badge.
Arianna buys Theo coffee in the town square for helping her carry her laundry. She tells him about the fire during the blackout. Theo asks why her roommate isn’t helping her. Arianna responds that she’s been dealing with a lot lately so she didn’t want to stress her out with anything else. Theo calls her a good friend. Arianna hopes that’s enough.
Holly panics as Johnny explains that she sent those pictures to him last night. Holly says she has no memory of taking the pictures or sending them. Holly suggests maybe she meant to send them to Tate. Chanel questions Holly saying this whole thing was an accident. Holly remembers texting Johnny and he called her last night so he must have been her most recent contact. Holly says she’s never done anything like this and she’s so sorry to both of them. Johnny wants to believe her but says it still doesn’t explain the letter.
Sophia hopes Tate doesn’t think she told Holly about him kissing her. Tate confirms that he doesn’t since when Holly punched him, she said Sophia didn’t tell her. Sophia asks who he thinks could’ve told her then. Tate says he doesn’t know since they were alone in his room and asks if she told anyone else. Sophia says she doesn’t think so but then recalls to him that after she left his room, she ran in to Arianna in the hall. Sophia adds that she told her nothing happened but she was looking at her like she didn’t believe her. Tate concludes that maybe Arianna ran back and told Holly. Sophia tells Tate that she’s so sorry as she thought she did a good job covering. Tate says it’s fine as it’s his own stupid fault. Sophia says it’s not like he even wanted to kiss her and was just trying to get info out of her. Tate says he’s not proud of that but he’s trying to shake the feeling that there is something she’s not telling him. Sophia asks him to let it go, claiming there’s nothing else she can say to him. Sophia says her break is over and goes back in to the Pub to work.
Sarah asks Brady what the lead on the baby was. Brady explains that when Sophia slipped and referred to the baby as a him instead of her, he did a little digging. Sarah asks what exactly he was looking for. Brady informs her of his crazy theory that Sophia lied about the gender of the baby because she delivered sooner than expected and dropped the kid off at the fire house.
Theo and Arianna talk about how they grew up in Salem and both moved away for awhile. Theo mentions just getting back a few weeks ago. Arianna asks how he likes being home. Theo responds that he’s not sure as it still doesn’t feel like home yet. Arianna relates to that feeling in the beginning but encourages him to give it some time and he’ll be vibing with Salem all over again.
JJ tells Jada that he’s gone through the training and he knows like everyone else that he has certain prejudices but he has tried very hard to be aware of them to be sure what happened to Theo never happens again, even though he was cleared and charges were dropped. Jada understands something like that lives with you forever. JJ talks about losing hope and going to a really dark place after it happened, but he found his way out thanks to friends and family. JJ says he’s tried very hard since then to be a better person in every way possible. Jada thinks he’s doing a pretty good job of it. JJ recalls Theo getting upset when he saw him in the town square and he told him that rejoining the police department was a mistake because he didn’t have the right judgment to be a cop. JJ declares that maybe Theo’s right that he’s not meant to serve.
Sarah tells Brady that if he’s right then maybe Sophia did the right thing since the drop offs at the fire house are set up for safety. Brady agrees and explains that his investigation had nothing to do with questioning her decision, but finding out what happened to his grandchild. Brady decides it doesn’t matter anyway because the baby does not belong to Tate and Sophia. Brady informs Sarah that Rafe got a sample of DNA from Tesoro and he had Tate’s toothbrush, but the DNA samples didn’t match which seems to surprise her too.
Tate goes back in to the Pub and offers to help Sophia but she says she’s good. Tate asks if Sophia can promise him that she’s telling him the truth about their baby and not hiding anything. Sophia complains that they’ve been over this a million times and says she’s not hiding anything from him about their baby. Sophia hopes Tate can take comfort in the fact that their baby will have an amazing life and parents because she made sure of it.
Holly questions Johnny and Chanel thinking she wrote the letter. Johnny says it’s hard not to think the letter was connected to the pictures she sent while Chanel adds that whoever wrote the letter knew that Holly once had feelings for Johnny. Holly assures that she hasn’t for a long time and has no clue on how any of this is happening. Chanel asks what she last remembers from the night of the fire. Holly says she was talking to Johnny on the phone and then she felt sick, then she woke up in the hospital. Holly says she can’t do this and needs some air. Holly tells them that she’s really sorry and hopes they believe her as she rushes out.
Arianna thanks Theo again for his help as they officially introduce themselves to each other. Arianna says she hopes to see him around. Theo says he’d like that as he walks away.
Jada tells JJ that if she didn’t think he was capable of being a good cop, she’d be the first one to take back his badge and gun. Jada says she’s been in the job for a long time and thinks JJ is a great cop and credit to the force. JJ is not so sure. Jada urges him to have confidence because if he starts doubting himself, he will become a liability. Jada suggests he take a few days off and have a session with the psychiatrist on the force, then they will revisit his resignation after that which JJ agrees to. JJ then takes his badge back and thanks Jada for believing in him.
Johnny tells Chanel that Holly sure seemed shocked to see the photos. Chanel says that Holly has bent the truth in the past but agrees with the look on her face. Johnny wonders how the person who wrote the letter would get the idea that he was in a relationship with Holly while Chanel wonders how they even knew they were attempting to adopt Tesoro. Johnny says the timing is way off while Chanel wishes Holly could remember more from before the fire. They then realize that Holly said that she lost her phone in the fire which means the photos were sent before she got a new phone, so she couldn’t have sent those photos at all. Johnny wonders who did and why.
Brady tells Sarah that the message he got earlier was the results of the second DNA test, confirming Tate and Tesoro are not a match so he’s definitely not Tate and Sophia’s baby. Sarah flashes back to questioning Sophia’s story. Sarah then tells Brady that she’s so sorry as she can see how disappointed he is. Sarah says she has to get back to work while Brady says he’s going to see Steve to plan out their next step in finding Tate’s child. Sarah wishes Brady luck as he exits the hospital. Sarah then removes her coat and rushes down the hall.
Tate tells Sophia that he’s really sorry about how he handled the whole situation as it wasn’t fair to her or Holly. Sophia asks if he finally believes her now. Tate says that he does and he won’t ask her about the baby anymore. Tate decides that if Sophia says the baby is in a safe and happy home, that’s good enough for him.
Holly walks by the Brady Pub and looks through the window to see Tate and Sophia inside with Tate having his hand on her shoulder. Holly then turns away upset and calls her mom, telling her that her whole life is a mess and she wishes she could live with her in France. Holly thanks her for understanding and says she can’t wait to see her. Holly tells Nicole that she never wants to come back to Salem ever again.
