Hope: I get that you’ve never stopped wanting your parents to get back together, but to go about it in this way, luring ridge off to aspen?
Steffy: My father went to aspen all on his own.
Hope: And when he got there, you and your mother took full advantage of that, didn’t you? You couldn’t let another golden opportunity pass you by just like old times.
Steffy: No, that is not true. My father already made the choice to be with my mother for the rest of his life, not brooke.
Hope: Ridge will always love my mother, steffy. Always. And I’m sorry if that’s an inconvenience for you and taylor, but it’s the truth.
Brooke: Ridge, it’s me again. I really need to talk to you. I still have so many questions. Just call me or text, please. I love you.
[ Door opens ]
Brooke: Ridge?
Liam: No, sorry.
Brooke: Ah. Hi, liam. I just keep thinking ridge is gonna walk through that door, tell me it was all a big mistake and that he’s not back with taylor.
Liam: It could still happen.
Brooke: Yeah, I suppose. Just the more time that goes by, I– I’m not gonna go there, I– I’m gonna stay positive.
[ Sighing ] Just going to hope that it’s not the end for ridge and me.
Deacon: Who the hell’s that guy think he is? He comes in here throwing his weight around. And he’s got his face on these dollar bills. I– I don’t even know why he gets his hair that way. It’s ridiculous. Arrogant son of a–
Sheila: Don’t let it get to you. Okay? He’s– he’s not worth it.
Deacon: That’s for damn sure. It’s just he– god, he gets under my skin. Just wanna–
[ Grunting ] You know, he thinks he’s so much better than me.
Sheila: But he’s not.
[ Deacon sighs ] Is he richer? Yes. Does he have an incredible amount of influence? Definitely. But is he better looking?
Deacon: Watch it.
Sheila: Did, uh, did i hear him right, though? Ridge left brooke?
[ Thud ]
Katie: Have you recovered yet?
Carter: From humiliating myself, you mean?
Katie: You didn’t humiliate yourself.
Carter: I announced to an entire office of colleagues that quinn left me. If that’s not the textbook definition of humiliation, then–
Katie: First of all, they’re not just your colleagues, they’re your friends and they hate that this happened to you. Second, it’s quinn’s loss, not yours. You have no reason to feel humiliated.
Carter: Yeah? But the lawyer in me still wants answers. Like, why did she walk away when things were so good? I thought about reaching out to justin, have him tap into his old ways, do some digging, but I don’t wanna take him off the straight and narrow, he’s, doing some great work here. So I made a phone call myself.
Katie: I really hope you didn’t call quinn. I mean, I’m sure you’ve been trying to get a hold of her, but I– I think you’re better off without her.
Carter: Is that why you kissed me?
Katie: As I recall, you kissed me back.
Carter: Yes, I’ve been calling quinn, but that’s not who I’m talking about.
[ Knocking ]
Shauna: Oh, am I interrupting?
Katie: You called shauna for answers?
Shauna: Hi, katie.
Katie: Hey.
Carter: I figured if quinn opened up to anyone, it would be her best friend.
Shauna: And let me start off by apologizing because you did not deserve to be treated that way, carter, and I am really, really sorry. Truly.
Deacon: I guess ridge did what ridge does best, which is shatter brooke’s heart. Again. Bill just couldn’t wait to come running down here to tell me all about it.
Sheila: Or he was just marking his territory. Claiming dibs.
Deacon: Arrogance and delusional.
Sheila: Yeah. Well, you know, he is dollar bill spencer.
Deacon: Oh, dollar bill spencer.
Sheila: One of the wealthiest, most powerful men alive for whom nothing is unattainable, including a newly divorced brooke logan.
Deacon: Well, she isn’t divorced yet. And even if she was, doesn’t mean she’s gonna go running back into his arms. I mean, don’t forget she was already married to that jerk once. Didn’t work out then. There’s no reason to believe it would work out now. Brooke deserves– she deserves somebody better.
Brooke: If I could justE. I mean, there’s gotta be some way we can work through this. There’s– there has to be.
Liam: Yeah. Yeah, there has to be. And we’re pulling for you.
Brooke: Oh, thank you. I mean, that really means a lot to have you and hope in my corner.
Liam: Well, yeah. Well, we’re your family. Where else would we be?
Brooke: Well, ridge is my family too, but if steffy and taylor have their way.
Steffy: I know what it’s like seeing your own mother in pain.
Hope: She’s devastated, steffy.
Steffy: I’m not saying she isn’T. But brooke watched my mother be heartbroken over and over again. The blatant plays for my father, a constant assault on my family. You wanna defend your mom? I get that. I get to defend my mom, too.
Hope: Except you’re not just defending your mother, steffy. You’re condoning the destruction of a marriage. And if taylor hadn’t come back–
Steffy: Oh, really? Okay. So are you saying this is my mom’s fault, that my father doesn’t know his own mind, his heart? Because I can tell you, hope, he does. His heart is fully with my mother.

[ Carter sighing ]
Carter: Okay. You saw me and quinn not that long ago. How did we seem? Did I miss something?
Shauna: Other than me feeling like a third wheel? No. You both seemed very much in love.
Carter: We were. That’s why I don’t understand. I mean, she made comments about not being able to give me what I wanted– marriage, a family. But I told her none of that matters to me.
Katie: Yeah, but is that really true?
Shauna: Quinn’s extremely good at reading people, what they say and don’t say. And if she really felt deep down you did want those things, then that was probably part of it. And she said the same thing to me.
Carter: She did? What else did she say?
Shauna: Uh, you know, it– it was very quick. Nothing really except she felt horrible for leaving you. But she just felt like it was the best thing for both of you. Although I think that there’s more to it.
Carter: So I’m not crazy.
Shauna: You’re definitely not crazy. I mean, what she did was shocking. Cutting out after such a loving, passionate relationship? But then again, I’ve known quinn for so many years and I am used to her erratic behavior. But you, you definitely deserved more from her.
Carter: Still don’t get it.
Shauna: Carter, if I were you, I wouldn’t spend too much time trying to figure it out. Quinn’s who she is. And as much as she loved you, when something’s over for her, it’s over. Whatever the reason.
Sheila: Yeah. Whatever will poor brooke logan do without a man for five minutes?
Deacon: Lay off brooke, will ya? All right? She just lost her marriage. It– show a little compassion.
Sheila: For someone who hates my guts?
Deacon: No. For someone who happens to be my daughter’s mother.
Sheila: Yeah. That’s all she’s ever gonna be. I hate to agree with bill spencer on this one, but whatever future you think you have with brooke, it isn’t happening.
Brooke: Oh gosh, I’m– I’m sorry. Really, I didn’t mean to dump all this on you.
Liam: No, you’re not. I’m here to listen. And to– grab this ’cause it’s beth’S.
[ Brooke chuckling ]
Brooke: I’m just grateful, really, to have a loving and caring family. So, thank you.
Liam: Yeah.
Brooke: You and hope are wonderful.
Liam: Well, I’m always gonna have your back, and hope, she’s hope. She defends the people that she loves. That’s what she does.
Hope: Ridge has always been torn between our mothers, steffy. But even you have to admit that my mom has made him happy.
Steffy: When she’s not making him miserable, which is most of the time. That’s what it comes down to. Brooke can only behave herself for so long. She doesn’t let the happiness last.
Hope: Do you really despise my mother that much?
Steffy: No. I actually feel bad for your mom. She’s still making these mistakes. The same mistakes we made in our 20s. She doesn’t learn from them. And my father’s finally starting to realize that.
Hope: Yeah, thanks to you. And thomas and taylor constantly hounding him about all of my mother’s shortcomings.
Steffy: We don’t have to point anything out for my father. He can make his own decisions. I understand this is really hard for you and your mother, but right now I’m not really focused on that. It’s not on my radar. I’m focused on my family, my mother, and the joy she’s feeling now that she’s back together with my father. A dental tool is round for a reason.
Katie: Shauna is right. You’ll probably never know the full reason quinn did what she did. And in which case you’re–
Carter: I’m spinning my wheels looking for answers.
Shauna: I know quinn loved you. She just sometimes freaks out and bolts. And I hate that it happened, especially to such a great guy like you. But you’re not gonna be single for very long. I know there is a lucky lady out there that is going to make you forget all about quinn. Trust me.
Deacon: So you don’t think brooke and i have a future, huh?
Sheila: Mm-mm. I don’t see it in the cards.
Deacon: Maybe you don’t want me to see it because you’re jealous.
[ Sheila laughing ] Of brooke? Are you serious?
Deacon: Sheila, I’m just saying. You know, in a head-to-head competition, brooke’s beautiful. You’re beautiful. Brooke’s got brains. You’ve got brains. Brooke’s got sex appeal. You know she has that– she has that one quality that you lack. Um, she’s never been charged with attempted murder. It’s kinda sexy.
Sheila: Are– are you saying that I don’t have sex appeal? Because that’s definitely not the message I’m receiving every time we wind up between the sheets together or on the sofa, do I need to go on? Because there is definitely heat right here between the two of us. A heat that I know that you have never experienced with another woman. Not even with… what’s her name?
Brooke: I honestly don’t know what I’ve done to deserve a daughter like hope. I mean, she’s always lifting me up and supporting me and being there for me. And– and defending me. And I just wish she didn’t have to do that. I mean, I– I just want my husband back.
Liam: Listen, you know, just as steffy and thomas will always defend taylor, hope will always defend you. And you know something else, no matter what happens here, whether ridge stays over there with taylor or gets his ass back to you–
Brooke: Well he has to come back to me. We’re married. We have a life together, a life that seemed so promising just a few days ago until he saw something in me that made him change. He thinks that I did something and I have no idea what it is. I mean, what could possibly get ridge to upend our lives like this?
Hope: I’m focused on my family, too. Like, finding out why my mother’s marriage fell apart practically overnight.
Steffy: You don’t have to look any further than brooke. She’s the reason my father left her and went back to my mom.
[ Hope laughing ]
Hope: That is not true. My mother and your father were happy. Sure, they had their issues but they were working through them. And for ridge to just wake up one day and decide that taylor is his future–
Steffy: No, no, no. My father has always loved my mother. If you believe that this is temporary, you’re kidding yourself. My parents are committed to each other. You should have seen them in aspen. It was so beautiful. The love between my parents. There was no foul play, no misunderstandings. It was just peace and love. The sooner you and brooke get this through your heads, the better for everyone.
Music (“I swear”) plays
[ Door closes ]
Carter: Do you think shauna picked up on something?
Katie: How you really feel about quinn?
Carter: No. How I really feel about someone else. Someone who’s been so understanding and… so generous with her support.
Deacon: What a buffoon. You know, if ridge actually does make it official and divorces brooke for taylor, she could do a hell of a lot better than that clown.
Sheila: Oh… oh, someone like you?
Deacon: Yeah, someone like me. Yeah.
[ Chuckling ] Look, at least I’m not a– a an arrogant narcissist like he is. You know, on my good days. Like, come on, this guy has got so many issues. Brooke should just avoid him like the plague.
Sheila: Let me guess, then, you would just be all too happy to save her from him.
Deacon: I don’t know about save, but she is my kid’s mother. I mean, they’re close. Look, if bill winds up hurting brooke, then he hurts hope and I’m not gonna let that happen.
Sheila: Look at you being all chivalrist. Well, you know what? I hate to burst your bubble, sir lancelot, but no amount of chivalry is going to win lady logan for you. No, she’s always gonna belong to ridge, whether he wants her or not.
[ Deacon sighing ]
Liam: When you and ridge were in aspen, what exactly did he say?
[ Brooke sighing ] I can’t make sense of it. He asked me to just, “say it.”
Liam: Say what?
Brooke: I don’t know. That’s what’s so frustrating. What is it? I– is it something that I did with bill? Something with deacon?
Liam: Well, the thing with my dad was so long ago now it’d be pretty weird if ridge was carrying that around, especially since, you know, he forgave you for it.
Brooke: I know. And he already forgave me for deacon too. So if it’s not those two, what is it?
Liam: Okay. Well, then– brooke, you have to talk to ridge again to find out. The stakes are too damn high.
Brooke: Oh gosh, I know, liam. You don’t have to tell me.
[ Sighing ] My marriage, my life, my happiness, the man that I love, it’s all on the line because of steffy and taylor. I am not gonna let them win. I am gonna get to the bottom of this and when I do, I am going to fix it and ridge will come back to me. We will be together again.
Hope: There’s something you need to accept, steffy. My mother will never give up on ridge. What they have together–
Steffy: Had together. Everything has changed. Hope, I know it seems like I’m gloating right now, but I’m really not. I’ll admit there was a time when I was worried about my father, losing him to brooke and the logans. It was a dark, dark time. But we’ve moved on. My parents have reunited. Our family is whole again, hope. And it’s truly a wonderful time for us. For my family, the forresters.
